Hello! First just wanna say that I absolutely love your fics! Any tips on how to survive 4x08-09? I was feeling okay in the hiatus, but with Sunday coming up & the promos, idk how to feel about watching them, esp knowing Ashley is coming up after them. And as much as I used to enjoy the “crumbs” I imagine I’ll just end up more disappointed (really trying to lower my expectations here lol). The toxic positivity/gatekeeping against critique that’s popping up again isn’t helping either imo 😞

Here are some ways I plan to survive 4x08-09:

- prepare a facemask and do some self-indulgent self care before/during the episodes

- have people to talk it through with (my inbox is open!)

- I do my best to avoid sneak peeks, they only rile me up!

- find some good fanfic to get lost in

- watch the show through realistic, not rose-coloured, glasses

We don't know that is going to happen with these two episodes, which is both good and bad! All the anticipation and fear just growing in our hearts, but also it is ending on a Christmas episode, which historically in the history of television are feel good episodes. I am picking other things to focus on for the episode - Smitty, and Tamara, looking for. Cujo mention. The show, for me, is about more than shipping, so I also want to see what Grey is up to, and if Henry and Abigail have called it quits. side note: does anyone like Abigail as a character more than Henry? I am watching to see how Lucy deals with Christmas, and maybe her DOD anniversary, and what Tim does when faced with his dad and sister. Do I have hopes and dreams? Yes. Am I prepared to be crushed? Also, yes.

I am over crumbs. Give me a whole damn slice, or don't tease me with catnip. I am not a fucking cat. Don't infantilize me. Don't give me a string of emojis that ultimately mean nothing. This is bad fandom interaction - and only serves to further alienate the viewer from trusting the writers/producers.

Don't let the gatekeeping get you down!

I am sad/upset/annoyed about where we are with the season as a whole, and Chenford in particular. I am not going to listen to someone who is intent on willfully misinterpreting what I am saying. I am also not someone who watch a show and put it down, even silly shows, I annoy my friends and family because I want to direct it. That is the part that makes it fun for me - the deeper look. I am someone who always wants the truth, and my own interest align with the hidden meaning and history behind word choices and symbolism.
