naruto cast playing among us (1/?)

(set in the canon-verse but my canon)

naruto is truly horrible. always gets killed first and if he's the impostor he'll be found out in a minute. but xe loves doing tasks and playing for the fun of it so xe doesn't really mind at all

sasuke is fantastic at deducing stuff and always in the right place at the right time to see the impostor. he would also be an amazing impostor if he didn't feel like killing his friends even in among us was a huge sin. "i have a no kill rule and im sticking to it"

sakura is. terrifying. she is utterly ruthless and loves being impostor. you do not stand a chance if it's sakura as impostor. however they are an awful crewmate and jump to conclusions really quickly

sai is. best not spoken about. unless you wanna die of fear that he's coming for you ❤️ they are also very good at it

hinata is surprisingly good. uses the game to vent zir frustrations. she likes doing tasks and gets nervous as impostor but is quite good at it tbh

kiba is as bad as naruto and he's a sore loser too but shino and hinata will cuddle him out of his upset mood so it's a win tbh

shino takes it way too seriously but has a ton of fun. he's easily found out as impostor, is a good crewmate, really prefers being a ghost so ni can float around doing tasks

shikamaru is useless at this game. he just doesn't get it. it's way too colourful and has too many confusing controls. what a drag

ino is. insanely good. they finish all the tasks at lightning speed and watch the cameras the whole time. she's also a crazy good impostor. if they and sakura and/or sai are all impostors together, the game gets over in 0.5 seconds

chouji is decent. they really prefer doing tasks. he's uncannily good at sabotage

neji is utterly horrible at it, but he’s also adorable. tries to use byakugan. fails. he likes being a ghost tho

lee is also terrible. he’ll punish himself for dying/being a bad impostor by doing 500 handstands. he gains a lot of arm strength each time they play

tenten is pretty good! vae’s sneaky and clever. their only weakness is that they’ll always vent in and out of the weapons room. that’s usually how she gets caught out

gaara is naturally as bad as naruto and kiba. except he doesn’t want to be good at it because temari’s surprised giggle when she first beat him made her look so happy he wanted her to always win

kankuro is grade f minus terrible, just a step above gaara, but tries to let gaara win because ey want to see eir brother smile. (shut up he is not a softie) however ey always fail because gaara is simply that terrible

temari is p bad at it but not as bad as gaara. she’s naturally bold and brash so it’s easy to tell it’s her as impostor, and she gets killed quickly. however she’s the best of the sand sibs and always wins with them - which is why her first loss to tenten is a complete shock to her

karin is awful. she’ll target suigetsu really harshly and always be wrong about him. she gets shivery being impostor

suigetsu is also awful. he targets karin right back and is also always wrong. will start melting with excitement when he’s impostor so its kind of easy to tell as you can hear water dripping from his mic

juugo is a dark horse. kills everyone in 0.5 seconds. his only tell is he will never kill sasuke even if it means losing

Well!

Their first official date is pretty nice actually. Sonne has been trying to gather up the courage to ask out the hot bartender for weeks, but they’ve still talked and became friends and ran into each other on the island. When they finally go on a real date they know each other enough to commit to a meal together. Val picks her up and sees sonne’s entire family staring out the window as Sonne gets in the car; mama, papa, and all four sibs. And Kova of course. He needs to know where his grandkitten is heading off to

They have a nice dinner and then go for a long walk in the tourist area, like where the pier is and fun stuff like that. Sonne is very nervous but Val is very easy going. They end up on the beach at night, like on a bench, and talk as they watch the night waves. Val comments on how Sonne is always at the beach with her family but she never swims with them. Sonne doesn’t want to bring down the mood and tell Val about the time she almost drowned as a toddler so she just says there was an accident and she would rather sit on the shore and watch, she likes that

Val is a surfer but she never forced Sonne to go in the ocean and sometimes prefers to sit with her on the sand instead of surfing. Their first date wasn’t all too fancy I guess but Val does tell Sonne that’s she’s been pining for her and she would rather be with her sitting on the shore than anywhere else

And of course Sonne gets a sweet kiss goodnight 😏 (she was too nervous to kiss Val herself even though she really wanted to)

when i was little n read naruto i fell into the hole of hating all the female characters... now i realize they were all babies who deserved BETTER and im gonna fist fight the author for rights to the franchise so i can treat my girls right and give gaara more screentime and maybe give sasuke a personality besides Rage™️ wish me luck

ugh mood same like back then as a kid i really didnt care for any of the female characters besides temari and couple of them got on my nerves but now i am grown i have opened my third eye and i blame kishi for everything because its his fault he cant write @ kishi learn to write or relinquish ur rights to ur series!!!

and yea uhhh more screen time for the sand sibs side characters like at least properly reward them for their hard work instead of just hyper focusing on ~ sharingan hax magical eye powers ~ like maybe make their hard work be on par to ur faves u coward

i know ive seen you sy in the past you like Avatar, I was wondering what you thought about the live action series netflix just announced ?

Hmmm……how to put this. This is how all avatar related content has gone since the original series concluded in 2008:

Legend of Korra: badAvatar Comics: REALLY bad2010 film: SOUL shatteringly terribleLike don’t get me wrong - I WANT this to be good. I WANT this to be worth watching, to be worth making, to be worthy of the original series. But literally nothing that has happened in the franchise since 2008 has given me any hope that it will be. While I respect the work Bryan and Mike did on the original series, they are FAR from the only reason it succeeded and a mass amount of credit is owed to the rest of the writing department who as I understand it will have nothing to do with this live action reimagining. Bryan and Mike are very much an example of writers who believed too much in their own hype and no longer have a firm grasp on what actually made the original show good in the first place. They freely admit half of the things that were great about ATLA were not their ideas and they had to be talked into including. They also committed what I feel is the cardinal sin of writing…….the magnum opus of creator fuck ups…….they retroactively ruined good things about their original show when they attempted to make a sequel. The second you start doing that, I lose all faith in you as a writer. I talk about this with Naruto all the time - if it’s between getting new content at the cost of having the original dragged through the mud or getting no new content at all, then I would rather have no new content. And that’s kind of how I feel with this.

I’m also…..extremely attached to the entire atla cast and don’t want to see them flanderized or written out of character. Azula specifically is my favorite fictional character of all time (even more than the sand sibs!) which is very worrisome as she’s also a hard character to get right. Aaron Ehasz - head writer on ATLA - made a comment that even the internal production team during the run of the show commonly misunderstood her. Bryke clearly don’t understand her given the way they greenlit the comics god awful interpretation of her as ~psychopathic-straightjacket-crazy~ which like…..ok…..actually I can’t even talk about this because it makes me so irrationally angry. I want to be in a good mood so I have to drop this subject right now immediately. I think there’s also some valid concerns about it being done in live action. Avatar is a show that worked VERY well as an animated story. The visual tone and style would require high budget to adequately pull off and even then I’m not sure it would work. While the thought of seeing some of the more epic moments in live action is admittedly exciting to me, I also worry the aesthetic charm of the original will be lost in that format. While bending is based heavily on martial arts, there’s still a fluidity in motion showcased in the original that’s simply not possible to achieve in live action. There’s also just the question of “why” we need a live action version in the first place as there’s not a ton of ways to improve on the original. It makes me think they’re just using this as an excuse to produce a ~darker~ more “mature” version of the original which…..lmfao. Part of the reason ATLA was so good is because it DIDN’T rely on cheap shock factor or graphic content to communicate its themes. There was a quiet yet deeply honest simplicity in the way they addressed the darker aspects of the show that made it so emotionally compelling. I know ya’ll think Game of Thrones is cool but not everything benefits by being made more ~edgy~. ATLA is already a mature show and the fact that its a cartoon doesn’t change that.

My greatest fear though is that they will change the original story to try and forcibly integrate the lore-breaking nonsense that plagued the legend of korra in a completely transparent attempt to validate their own poor writing decisions on the sequel. One mention of raava and I’m cancelling my netflix subscription.

So to summarize: while I’m involuntarily excited on principle, I can’t help but feel this entire project is going to end up just as rage inducing and shoddily written as every other spin off that’s come before it. I genuinely hope I eat my words though! ATLA is an absolutely beautiful show rich with content and I would be over the moon if this new series manages to improve on it or at least lives up somewhat to the quality of the original. I’m just very cautious about it as of right now. I’m not trying to be overly negative but I’m just……I’m so tired. The only sequel/spin off/remake in the entire universal literary canon that hasn’t let me down is Bambi II.

Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do theydespise about their siblings?

well obvs all these kids love the hell outta each other! Theyhave a very close bond, almost on thesame level as the Sand Sibs Classic Flavour, there’s a lot of unspokencommunication between them and understanding that even their bestfriends/partners/dad don’t have with them, bc of their shared history

none of them really have a ‘favourite’ sib, they all likeeach other equally, but in very different ways; while Araya and Yodo are thetwo who hang out more often and do more stereotypically sibling stuff, that’smostly bc Shinki just isn’t interested in those sorts of things, he’s happy tojust sit and watch as he’s working on a puppet or something, generally though,Araya is the best at comforting, Shinki gives great advice and Yodo is always ready to give bullies a goodass-kicking

as for what annoys them.. well Yodo does love her pranks andcan be quite exhausting bc she’s so much more hyper than her bros, Araya is abit of a forgetful ditz, so he’ll often need to be reminded about a promiseseveral times and Shinki still has some trust issues – even with his sibs whohe trusts more than anyone else – he’ll often try to solve his problems withoutgetting them involved which can cause arguments between them. fights betweenthe three don’t usually last long though, as soon as someone apologises they’llforgive each other pretty much immediately

What does your character’s home look like? Personaltaste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?

the sand fam home is mostly quite simply decorated, the sameway it was when it was first built, but the few rooms that are actuallyused tend to be a terrible clash of Every Style Under The Sun, with each personhaving a small area of the main rooms that’s basically all their shit clusteredtogether, from Gaa and Shinki’s minimalist practicality, to Araya’s cutesy nicknack’s, Kank’s Paint It Black and random puppet limbs everywhere and Yodo’s chaotic mess of video games, electronics and band posters (after so long nobody even notices how weird it looks anymore, visitorsare always very alarmed/amused though)

Shinki: don’t let his ninja outfit fool you, this boyis a Fashionista to the core, while he favours neutral colours he LOVES avantgarde shit, especially the look of mixed textures and bold, postmodern silhouettes,neo-punk is so much his thing it’sridiculous….. unfortunately he also has hypersensitive senses due to his autism,which makes certain textures and types of clothing physically uncomfortable forhim to actually wear, he’s a bit annoyed by that, but he’s into dressmaking andembroidery, so he just makes things for his sibs and lives vicariously throughthem

Araya: PASTEL PRINCE! loves anything cute, bright and feminine,he wears lots of ruffles and glittery makeup, loves over-sized jumpers and sweetpatterns (especially animals and plants!), sometimes he’ll ask his bro to do areally detailed piece of embroidery on a plain jacket, which he always wearswith so much pride! experiments with hair and makeup a lot, with help from hisuncle Kank, his ninja gear is totally different to his preferred style – so muchso that people often don’t recognise him when they first see him out of it –but that’s just bc he doesn’t wanna ruin his nice stuff during battle

Yodo: punk rock to her soul, she loves grungy,distressed, androgynous clothing and goes to great efforts to look like she’s not put in any effort at all. shelikes a lot of variety in colours, while most of her outfits are built aroundblack staples, she’ll throw all sorts of different colours on top (her favesare dark/rich shades of purple and blue though) and she loves bold,intimidating makeup, she mimics Gaara’s eye-rings bc she’s such a fuckingdad’s girl and rocks the heck outta dark lipstick

Does your character have any secrets? If so, are theyholding them back?

Shinki: he does have secrets about his past beforeending up at the orphanage, secrets that not even his siblings or dad knowabout, though they all have their suspicions, but he would rather not talkabout that time in his life and they all respect him enough not to go digging. ingeneral he’s a very open and blunt person – perhaps a little too much, but since he doesn’t talk oftenit’s not a huge issue

Araya: cannot keep a secret to save his life, if askeda question, he will almost immediately cave and tell the truth (unless it’s somethingsuper important, like.. national security level important), he’s not allowed inon pranks and surprise party organisation anymore, he’s honest person bynature, he just really doesn’t like feeling that he’s deceiving someone, or withholdingsomething from them

Yodo: has a metric shitton of secrets, of varyingimport, from exactly how all thosebiscuits went missing, to some of the more illegal things she had to resort towhen living on the streets, mostly kept bc she finds it difficult to trustothers, or bc she’s a forward-thinking person who doesn’t want to be dragged downby the past, so, outside of her family and closest friends, she doesn’t sharemany secrets. unlike her bros, she is a practiced and enthusiastic liar; thougha little clumsy at it as a child, she quickly learns how to hide them once shestarts living with Gaara and Kank (much to their dismay) though she mostly justuses the skill to get out of trouble

Is your character tall? Short? What about size? Weight?Posture? How do they feel about their physical body?

Shinki: average height and weight, he wouldn’t standout much in a crowd. he holds himself quite straight and formally though, in asimilar way to Gaara actually! he doesn’t have many thoughts about his body,either positive or negative, so long as it can get what he needs done done hereally doesn’t give a fuck

Araya: TALL! TOO TALL! he was always a little on the lankyside as a kid, quite skinny and with those awkward spider limbs, but he didn’tget really tall until his late teens(the day that Kank realised Araya was taller than him now, he locked himself inhis room for a whole week), he used to be very self-conscious about himself,but as he grows into his body and stops feeling so gangly he starts to quitelike it! he tends to slouch a lot though and habitually bends over slightlywhen he’s indoors (after one knocked head too many)

Yodo: an utter fuckin short arse. she was short and skinny as a kid, she was short andskinny as a teen and she’s short and skinny as an adult (though she’s stillsuper buff and toned, just built more like a sprinter than a weight-lifter), afact which she loathes, her only comfort is that she’s still taller than herdad by like.. half an inch (a fact that she lauds over him at everyopportunity). even though she wishes she weren’t so short, she still loves thefuck outta her body and will show off her muscles constantly when around hergf, she also tends to stand and walk in a way that makes herself look biggerthan she is, all wide stances and swinging arms

What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm ofspeech? Pronunciation? Accent?

Shinki: low and surprisingly soft, he doesn’t talkmuch, but has the kind of voice that draws attention when he does! his speech tendsto be quite halting and slow though, since he likes to think very carefullybefore saying anything, doesn’t outwardly emote much, has a typical Suna accent,as do all the kids (which i generally imagine as like.. Iranian-ish, orsomething??)

Araya: he has a very sweet and gentle voice, not very high,but not low either, just a relaxed mid-level tone, it’s the kind of voice youcould easily fall asleep to bc it’s just so calm and soothing! whether it’sfast or slow depends mostly on Araya’s mood, he’s very expressive, so when he’shappy/excited he talks quicker and when he’s sad it slows down, even though hepretty much never shouts, you can tell when he’s really mad when he starts giving very short, abrupt sentences

Yodo: in the words of Shikadai, ‘Yodo sounds like whatyou’d get if you gave a hamster speed, put it in a blender and then put theblender in a washing machine’ (Yodo cackled about that analogy for three hours),her voice is high, squeaky and generally pretty grating, though how much of thatis natural and how much is put on to annoy everyone around her is debatable,she does speak in a much lower, calmer way when she’s relaxed and around herfamily though. talks super fast and loud, sometimes with a song-like rhythm andif she’s feeling something, you’re gonna know about it

What’s your favorite line of narration?

oh fuck i dunno, i can’t really remember half of what i’ve written but based on a quick skim i’d have to say it’s..... Andafter those fateful chunin exams – so very, very long ago – the silence hadchanged again, this time to one filled with tension and uncertainty, as Gaaranavigated the arduous path back to humanity and she and her brother nervouslywalked beside him, too scared to hold his hand, but too hopeful to let him walkit alone.

What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

asdfjkdfkjsk ok so i should really go for one of the more deep emotional lines but in all honestly it’s “Getup losers, we’re going to Suna!”

What part was hardest to write?

hmmm probably the Shikadai interlude? mostly just because i know bugger all about kids and have no idea how to write them

What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

it’s much more about family bonds than my other fics, i mean most anything i write that has the sand fam in it will have a lot of that, but this is the one where i’m really delving into their whole dynamic and exploring each member much more deeply.. idk this fic is just very special to me, it’s my comfort zone writing-wise

What do you like best about this fic?

i rEALLY love the relationships in btc! whether it be the sand sibs Classic Flavour, sand sibs 2.0, the kids and gaa, yodo and kank.. i just love thinking about them all So Much

What do you like least about this fic?

hmm, i guess i’m still trying to figure out this whole ‘Child’ thing, i’m getting there, but i regularly have to go looking up childhood development shit because i don’t have any idea what 6 yr olds are supposed to talk/act like

What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

oh i ALWAYS listen to music while writing, mostly movie/game soundtracks because for some reason songs with actual singing and lyrics really throw me off when writing? for btc in particular i really love the ost’s of: Journey, Abzu, Thomas Was Alone and Ori and the Blind Forest (and the extened Ori ost), i also quite like Zoe Keating and Break of Reality, they’re instrumental artists and make some really beautiful calming but also haunting music that fits the tone of the fic!

What did you learn from writing this fic?

mostly i’ve just been learning more about these characters, their thoughts, feelings and how they relate to one another, it’s been a really lovely experience discovering all these new things about my fave fam

in the more technical sense, i’ve been learning a lot about writing more introspectively and using metaphor a little more
