#im turning into a crit account
Text
At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of Erika at the table. Something wasn’t clicking for me and I found her kinda grating. I was counting down the days until she left the table…
But then I saw the way some of y’all are talking about her online and I’ve changed my mind, she is now great and I will fistfight anybody who says otherwise!

What's your favourite TTRPG?
someone asking about my hyperfixiation?
alright baby it's time, im going to answer that question in the longest way i can. I was going to try to structure it before i realized i have no idea how, so instead ill just infodump with whatever structure i make up as i go.
To preface this, i have a taste of course, and that is cool fight games, i like systems that really get into the nitty-gritty of character building and tactical choices in combat, I do not particularly care for roleplaying systems as me and my groups are very good at roleplaying on our own, we already make lengthy conversations between our characters, ask questions etc without really needing prompting, so i like systems that focus on the fighting since that certainly needs robust enough rules for my liking, i need to see damage numbers for my brain to buzz. I want to make big sword ladies that can split people in half and i need the system to support that.
Pathfinder 2e
So, as of now my favorite system is pathfinder 2e, its elegant 3 action system tickles my brain, it allows for interesting tactical choices (do i stride to flank the enemy even if I don't know whether it has attacks of opportunity or do I just take my chances with my strikes? do i make a second attack at -5 or do i try to aid an ally? etc) while still having a concrete and finite end to your turn, once you used all 3 actions that's that.
The problem a lot of people have with this system is that most things you could do in d&d 5e with an object interaction become one whole action, like drawing a weapon or opening a door, getting up from prone is also a whole action. To a certain extent i agree it is annoying, however I think the limitations imposed by the system can create much more interesting choices, especially when taking into account another great feature of the system, traits.
Pretty much everything in pf2 has traits, most of the time these traits are just tags like the fire trait which just tells you whatever has this trait has fire, while some have extra effects like the attack trait that means actions with this trait are affected by multiple attack penalty. Traits inform you of how stuff interacts with each other in a clean simple way, for instance some enemies (not all!) have an ability called attack of opportunity that lets them attack as a reaction when you take certain actions, how do you know which actions? simple, all actions with the move and manipulate trait (and ranged attacks).
On the note of attacks of opportunity I'll mention an example of one of my favorite moments of the system, I was playing a level 9 automaton barbarian, we were fighting a knight on a nightmare (hell horsey), we were in a hallway with the knight in front of me and our rogue behind me, i had just been brought back to consciousness by our rogue after the knight knocked me out, what that means is that im prone and my greataxe has been dropped while in reach of the knight, standing from prone and grabbing the weapon are both actions that trigger attacks of opportunity and I know this enemy has it, I consider my options since an attack of opportunity would likely knock me out again, my unarmed attacks arent great and being prone gives a penalty to hit, so i try to grapple (an attack that is unaffected by being prone as it is an athletics check rather than an attack roll) in hopes of getting the chance to use my remaining two actions to use my arcane slam feat (that only works on a grappled target) to knock him prone. However i fail my grapple attempt, so im left with two actions, still prone and without a weapon in hand, and then i remember at 8th lvl i took friendly toss, a feat that allows me to grab an ally and throw them, moreover, they get to make an attack as a reaction at the end of their movement. So i grab the rogue behind me by the leg and i yeet her on the other side of the knight, thus flanking the knight, granting sneak attack, and thanks to flanking she crits him and kills him.
Besides being a sick as fuck moment why did i tell you this? Well because i think this represents pretty well how it works, pf2 rewards versatility, most of your damage scales mostly automatically, especially as a martial character most of your choice of abilities will be about extra options that help you in certain situations, I've had the most fun building characters in pf2 when i was considering the actions available to them.
Especially with how the system works versatility is actually very easy to achieve, there's lots of feats within each class that allow you to be more effective in certain situations, a classic example being sudden charge, a feat that lets you stride twice and then strike using only 2 actions rather than 3, or friendly toss that i mentioned above. And outside of your class, since you HAVE to spread your ability scores at least a lil bit youll probably be good with at least one ability score that a different class focuses on. With the fact that feats are usually not direct power boosts it isnt as big of a deal to give certain feats for free or to use rules such as free archetype or ancestral paragon.
Now there's a lot to praise about pf2 and i could keep going about it like how encounter rating actually works, or all the sickass options available, or how it has so much LGBT representation including a deity that presents itself to mortals wearing their ideal body because "if a divine being has chosen to wear it, it must be perfect", but I think I've praised pf2 enough. Despite all the good pf2 is still not a perfect system and it has its flaws, some that should be mentioned even if I myself dont find them to be bothersome.
To start it should be mentioned that pf2 is pretty dense, it's a fairly crunchy system with a large amount of rules for a lot of different situations, which can make it a little difficult to approach but the main difficulty is really that a lot of the times rules reference other rules which can be clunky if you don't learn a good amount of rules before playing, i know a few DMs that like to come up with rules on the fly to fill in gaps or when they don't know the rules, and pf2 doesnt quite work well with that method as several rules have implications for other rules. At least tho most rules are one google search away thanks to them being free.
Another somewhat related issue is that pf2 can be overwhelming, it's not as bad as pf1 or d&d 3.5 however there is such a high amount of options that analysis paralysis is certainly an issue for some people.
Now these were issues that i dont really care about myself, i can work with a dense system and i love having tons of options, however pf2 isnt a perfect system for me either.
It's hard to find gripes with it but I do have a few, for instance while i love the trait system i do think it is unintuitive how so many traits are just tags with no effect on their own while so many others have extremely important effects like the flourish trait that means you can't use other flourishes that turn or the incapacitation trait that heavily holds back save or suck abilities by making them less effective on higher level targets, yet there is no differentiation between the two, you just need to always look at the tags, after a while it's not that big of an issue but still.
For this next one i wanna give a lil bit of context, d&d 5e has a rather large issue that all its players are aware of, the martial/caster disparity, as in 5e casters are just overwhelmingly better than martials, well pf2 fixed this, but went just ever so slightly overboard. In pf2 generally speaking martials have a few things they are good at and are REALLY good at them, usually hitting things hard, while casters are weaker but more versatile, there's exceptions like the kineticist which is mechanically similar to casters as its abilities mimic spells but is functionally closer to a martial as it is highly effective at few specific things, but exceptions aside this vaguely how they're functionally divided.
The problem is that because casters are both tied to resources and also slightly weaker there's time where it doesn't feel that great to play them, mainly with the fact that you also don't really get any items to increase your effectiveness, you get items like staves or wands that give you more versatility but nothing like a +1 potency rune that martials get to hit more often, and with the high defenses that enemies tend to have at your level or even a level lower it can be hard to break that first spell and apply a good debuff to get better odds with other spells, and unfortunately even tho pf2 added multiple levels of success to still have something happen when enemies succeed on spells it's still often negligible and doesn't feel good to expend resources like that especially cus you don't get a lot of them at low levels. Overall tho I do not think this is a terrible issue, there are ways to build around it like teamwork focusing on reliable options that lower defenses, and even without this i think a potency item to buff spellcasters like martials is enough.
Now, that's actually pretty much it for the issues I've got with pf2, but I'm not quite done yet, I think pf2 is an extremely solid system and the flavor of the available options is also fantastic, it has few flaws, however I have more issues with it, but they aren't really pf2 issues as much as they are issues with most d20 systems.
The first issue is not exactly an issue with the system itself but it is commonly found in d20 systems, and that's the null result, which is when you wanna do something, you roll poorly and nothing happens, you waited the whole round to do your cool thing but the math rock stopped on a 1 so that's that. Now pf2 is actually not as bad as some of its peers at this (lookin at you 5e), thanks to the 4 degrees of success, which I realize now is a good system pf2 uses that I haven't explained, thankfully it's very simple, whenever you roll there's a difficulty class you need to beat, like to shield yourself from the fireball you need to roll a 17 or higher, in 5e there's only 2 degrees, you either do it or you don't, in pf2 there's 4, you can succeed, fail, crit succeed or crit fail, and the crit results have two ways to happen, you roll 10 above or below the DC or you roll a nat 20 or nat 1 which increase or decrease the degree of success by one step (this is important! a farmer cannot hit an ancient red dragon because a nat 20 will turn a crit fail into a fail which is still a miss). With this system and the 3 action system it is less likely to do nothing in a turn, it is however still very possible, especially because on attack rolls you still miss on a failure not just a critical failure, the difference is that some and pcs have abilities that do something when they are crit missed.
As a DM i almost always consider lowering the defenses of my monsters and increasing the hp so that the players get to do cool stuff more often... and then the die rears it's face on an ugly little single digit number that says fuck you that we lovingly call a nat 1. Nat 1s are rolled shockingly often at the tables i play at and lowering defenses of enemies won't fix the frustration of seeing that number and saying "well, that's that".
The next issue then has to do with the actual dice, it's something that has become obvious as ive been thinking about it and especially playing pf2 as well as baldur's gate 3 (which while it isn't a ttrpg it uses the 5e core rules and boy does if highlight some big issues with those rules), and that is the swinginess of the numbers, having a result that is twenty times as likely as another result but just as likely is kind of crazy, but really that is especially apparent when we look at the damage dice, bg3 likes to show you numbers rather than dice and seeing the damage of a fireball be 6 to 36 damage really puts it into perspective, it's worse at higher levels because you have other spells like blight that deal 8 to 64 damage, and while average results are more likely because of the higher amounts of dice that swinginess is still there. In pf2 this is even more apparent actually because of the more frequent and actually wildly more meaningful crits, because while in 5e crits just double damage dice, in pf2 crits double damage period, including all modifiers which there is a lot more of, and crits often have special effects too. In a recent one shot I was playing a kineticist and I used an ability to target two enemies, they get to make a basic save (no dmg on crit success, half on success, full on fail and double on crit fail) the damage was 2d8, the first turn i used it i rolled a 3 and a 2, one of my enemies crit succeeded ans the other succeeded so I dealt a total of 2 damage, the very next turn i do it again, both fail and one of em is a crit fail, and I rolled a 7 and an 8, dealing a total of 45 damage. In another game we play our barbarian is using a giant scythe and regularly hits for like 15 or so damage and the crits for 40-50 damage because scythes deal more damage on crits.
While critting feels fantastic, both on hitting and enemies crit failing, it is extremely swingy and gives an overwhelming amount of power to let the dice decide how an encounter goes, this may be supposed to be a moderate encounter but your barbarian went first and immediately crit a core enemy of the formation and now its a trivial encounter, or the zombie went first and crit the healer and downed them immediately and now it's a severe encounter. Maybe this was supposed to be trivial but I keep rolling 15s and up and my players look like they're rolling on d6s to hit. The swinginess also links back to the null result because sure the different degrees of success help but a crit success on a save is still a null result and a success dealing 2 damage is more like a slap on the back of the head than a consolation prize. And while the null result is something that's maybe fixable the swinginess is something that I think requires too much effort to change for how pf2 is built, crits are just too infused in the system to change them and everything just messes with the math that is core to pf2 making it so much harder to balance everything.
While I think I can live with both of these issues the more time goes on the more I wanna do something about them. And that's roughly when a new ttrpg in the making caught my eye. I've been following Matthew Colville for a long time, he's a great DM and makes wonderful videos with system agnostic tips on how to be a better dungeon master, he's also a game designer and the game design director at MCDM, and since the d&d OGL debacle they've decided to take a crack at making their own unique ttrpg, and well im hooked, he's made several videos on the MCDM YouTube channel explaining more in detail and some of what I've said is in reference to that, watching those videos has allowed me to put into words the issues I've been having, namely the null result. I'm excited to see what they've put together, and so finally that is why I phrased the answer at the beginning like that, pf2 is currently my favorite ttrpg but with the MCDM ttrpg on the way that is prone to change. I think I will always love pf2, it is an extremely solid system and making homebrew for it really feels like making a neat cog to add to a well oiled machine. I could probably go on about pf2 especially if I were to get into the specific options available (don't get me started on the kineticist, I am in love).
So that's it then, I hope it was worth 2 fucking whole weeks of wait.

yea winter and Johnny Depp are very similar, they both take their stylings from how homeless people layer (most non-Black fashion is literally make an object pulled from the poor Black experience but pricing it where most poor Black people could never afford it, “luxury” is just anti-Black classism) and both do DARVO when someone with less power than them tries to hold them accountable.
I do not have the power to “cancel” winter in anyway so I do not understand pinning me as the violent one when I cant do anything to winter. winter and followers have “cancelled” me with the power winter has through social capital. winter and the abuse by proxy is violent. also why we acting like I called an actual proBlack person a c**n like winter has the fucking Beatles as his header like y’all acting like Im coming for Rick Owens Malcolm X when winter barely know any theory and Malcom X wouldve called winter a c**n too and Malcolm X was calling Jackie Robinson a c**n like and Malcolm X aint even the most the radical Black person from that era like 🛑 stahp (also this is a prime example how Twitter is slightly more “progressive” than Tumblr cause calling a violent Black cis man a c**n wouldnt be dragged for this long 🤣) like he couldve just taken the initial crit a while back and got over it but i bruised winter’s ego so winter continues to enable violence onto me that I cannot do onto winter or would need to cause I can fight my own battles, winter hiding behind a block and using Black MaGes he tokenizes as shields, disgusting.
this is gone too far and everyone sees all of this even if they don’t like my posts or winter’s cryptic shade he throwing at me. people see what has been happening on both sides so yea anyone enabling winter in any way at this point aint shit to me. people are afraid to be vocal about winter cause they see what is happening to me for so long. like im not the only Black person who dont fuck w winter, like goddamn. i dont wish this bullshit on any Black person who actually isnt a non-Black apologist.
the other thing, i admitted have a slightly above beginner knowledge of fashion history. I like fashion a lot more now cause I can sew but I more deep dive into theory and art. So my slightly above level fashion history I know can keep up with winter and other platformed microcelebs on here but none of come even close to me when it comes to art, craft, film, theory so again none of this shit is merit based.
people gain social capital by enacting anti-Blackness, enabling anti-Blackness indirectly or centering non-Black content/non-Black content creators. In this global anti-Black world, power can come from social capital. like if I did not need to post non-Black content to get likes to gain social capital to use to b00st Black f*nding on here, i would only post Black content. And you say, oh some blogs only post Black content. yes but the actually pro-Black ones dont have a lot of social capital to use because they are also “cancelled” for calling out the anti-Blackness on here and the radical chic/neoliberal ones or the very conservative ones are the most popular.
it is not “cool” to try to materially help Black “publicly” online and no one wants to admit that aloud, that’s why they only share Black f*nding when it won’t affect their social capital much. everyone knows if you post Black f*nding often, the algorithm fl*gs your account and brings traffic down on your account, which in turn affects your social capital. like ppl truly do not care that Black f*nding is life or death. yes a like can materially affect ppl, Black or non-Black. posting non-Black designer & non-Black art is more important than tryna materially support poor Black ppl everyday? like it’s not much labor for some of y’all to copy paste a link or text. yea Tumblr is a sea of anti-Blackness and abuse apologism.
this bs w winter could be settled easily but winter has too much hubris. the reason winter and others get more likes for posting the same thing as me is because winter and others have a lot of power for being anti-Black and a lot of anti-Black non-Black followers. I will continue to run a blog that is better than all of the ppl who hate me on here combined. 9 out of 10 ppl on Tumblr are very anti-Black.

JINGLIU IM SO SORRY I EVER DOUBTED YOU 😭😭😭😭
still felt like ass to play against aventurines boss mechanics but like. Point made girl you still murder
Tumblr media
Anyway holy FUCK that was a rollercoaster .
i literally had to put aventurine on def boots for extra shields and to speed tune him specifically so that his turns When accounting for RM speed buff would line up Exactly when jingliu was completely shieldless (given her self advance + bronya insta eating shield duration turns) so he could refresh it before enemy actions and the whole gang Still almost died .
And also fine tuning jinglius speed so the usual 135-134 jingliu bronya tuning gets-fucked-with-RM bc of bronyas higher base spd wouldnt mess things up like. this took Effort 💀
anyway worst MoC to date god i fucking hate it like wow hoyo im soooo sorry i didnt pull your dear mei meow meow devs favorite acheron so guess i deserve this bullshit? Jfc.
Though funnily enough despite it being the worse half by a big margin i cleared 2nd half with no resets once i had the team adjustments down but on 1st half i unironically Had to reset until the prowlers summons first two attacks do Not attack either sparkle or QQ bc if they do the speed debuff just fucks over my turn order permanently . And at that point i might as well also reset for a good initial turn on QQ with autarky and a crit lmao
qingque my beloved its been so long youre as funny as ever with your highs and lows and gamba antics . though despite having a decent time w her im actually pretty sad that they made 2nd half of this MoC so fucking terrible that i couldnt even run xueyi on 1st half in the end :( i remember when this lineup leaked i was so happy abt a full quantum stage for xueyi but with the amount of supports i Had to allocate to 2nd half to even have a chance it was very painfully obvious QQs raw numbers were just the better option this time around . Sigh
yes there were those 2nd half xueyi clear attempts i made based on that one showcase on YT but it got p obvious i Needed the exact same lineup (w march built specifically) to navigate the turbulence while proccing xueyis FUAs .
either way im SO happy with aventurine like dude definitely carried his weight multiple times over and is easily the most comfortable sustain for his own fucking bullshit as a boss (even w jinglius health drain basically making ur team be on a timer the entire run)
anyway . Rip my lvl 20 E1 yanqing guess you arent getting built as a what if hail mary solution to replace jinglius poor match against the mechanics of this MoC lmao . maybe next time

Okay, I love Travis. I’m watching through Campaign 2 and I’m on episode 34 and after Fjord did the badass misty/thunder step he got so excited while playing it’s was infectious.
Also, Fjord/Beau and Travis/Marisha are my favorite brotp. I love their interactions and how they hype each other up. Marisha got as excited as Travis did and it was great.
AND THEN when Caleb/Liam used fireball Travis yelled “ARCANE HYPEEE!” And freaked out.

To the new people from twitter
There are probably enough posts already, and probably im one of the last people who should be making one of these because I migrated from Reddit in January, but I really want to make one of these so here it is.
First of all, welcome! I hope you have a good time while you’re here, it’s one of the better fandoms I’ve been in on this site and is generally a really nice environment. However, Tumblr is fairly different to Twitter both outside and inside the context of this fandom.
One major difference is the way content is spread, on Tumblr likes do little to nothing while reblogging is the way the majority of content is shared, reblogging puts a post onto your page, while still showing the creator at the top, this lets anyone who follows you or looking through your page see the post allowing them to reblog the post from you sharing it to more people. Reblogging is not the same as reposting, which is extremely rude, you are just showing more people the post and it is encouraged especially for art.
One thing that will make your experiences infinitely better is cultivating your personal fandom experience- meaning don’t be afraid to block people, even if they haven’t done anything wrong and you just disagree with their opinion, or they make you feel uncomfortable with them, and even if you just feel like it- just block them. Also, do not take it personally if someone has blocked you it doesn’t mean they even dislike you, just that they don’t want to see your content which is fine.
Another thing that is important is the lack of content creators, the majority of people don’t want content creators to see their posts, and with the lack of any content creator one here publicly its strange to be creating content of any sort with the desire for a content creator to see it. Although they’re some content creators here, while we do sometimes joke about finding their accounts- do not actually try and find their accounts. Also do not fall for the Kinnie/roleplay/trolling blogs they are not actually the creators.
While there are no content creators with public accounts, please respect their boundaries still even if you think they won’t see it, @smpboundries documents the majority of these- the most obvious being to not ship people who aren’t comfortable with it, don’t sexualize people who aren’t okay with it, and don’t truth people.
Another important feature of Tumblr is the tagging system, this is how people can see you’re posting if they aren’t following you and also how people can avoid seeing your posts. To tag your posts you should add the relevant smp (probably the dream smp) you can do this by adding #dream smp, #dsmp, or #dsmpblr into the tag section at the bottom of the post, then you should add the relevant characters in the same way as well as any relevant group name like the bench trio or sbi. Another thing you should add are tags to warn of content, this means any trigger warnings or content warnings- adding them at the top does nothing, it also considered common courtesy to tag critical posts for example c!(insert name) critical for characters or tagging dream smp critical for the dream smp as a whole, this also applies to groups such as L’manberg of the syndicate- it also considered polite to tag discourse. Tags can also help you navigate the archive which everyone has unless they have turned it off. You should make sure make sure to not tag things that are not relevant do not tag dream smp post as Minecraft and do not put Minecraft in your tags or it will show up in the main tags (for example Philza Minecraft)- the same applies for mineblr, don’t tag origins that is already the name of another fandom and don’t tag characters you didn’t mention in the post or only mentioned briefly. To block tags, you can go into your settings and find it there, here you can block any Tw/cw or anything you would rather not see (I would recommend block mcyt x readers also).
Trending is something that also very different on Tumblr as while you can get trending, it’s a lot hard and we don’t really try to- please do not spam tags to try and get trending.
If you want to communicate with a user there are many different ways to do so- you can send asks which don’t have to be a question, this can also be done privately and anonymously. Do not send hate to anyone no matter how much you disagree with them. You can also privately message people although isn’t always the norm. You can also submit posts which are will be put on their blog if they choose to feature it. Bots will follow you occasionally but they are generally quite obvious and just trying to get you onto porn sites. Don’t be afraid to ask people to tag things.
As you may have already noticed generally opinion is very different to other sites, with more Tommy, Tubbo and Wilbur sympathy and more techno and Philza crit then other sites. Please do not take character crit personally and feel free to block tags/ people if they make you uncomfortable pr make you day any worse- no matter your opinions you are guaranteed to find at least a couple mutals who agree with you.
There are also somethings that are not excepted here, ableism is not okay in any form- do not demonize character for mental illness symptoms, do not infantilize neurodivergent people, don’t call technoblade monotone, and don’t insult characters by comparing them to a mental illness (e.g., calling dream a psycho). Don’t be sexist, even if you do it in a girl boss away- don’t infantilize female content creators, don’t be overly critical of them, and don’t sexualize them if they aren’t comfortable with it. Don’t be racist- don’t assign poc characters traits based of racial stereotypes, don’t call them racist for expressing their own culture and don’t create racial allegories in the dream smp story where the poc characters are oppressing white characters. Don’t be creepy towards the minors of the server- UK consent laws are more complicated than you think and even if what you are doing is technically legal you are still a bit of a nonce, it’s still not okay to sexualize them if you are the same age, and once they are no longer underaged it is still not okay to sexualize them if they aren’t comfortable with it. Don’t post abuse apologism- it makes people uncomfortable (especially abuse victims) and leads to a negative fandom space.
Overall, although I’m sure you’ve seen some posts joking around try to scare you a little bit- as a general we aren’t that bad, and you shouldn't be afraid of interacting with most people, make sure you are having fun. Although the content tends to be focused more with analysis and friendly discourse- don’t engage with if you’re comfortable with it- I’m sure there will be something for you whether it be fanart or meme. Don’t be afraid to follow random people and respond to posts even if you are newer and don’t feel like you have t watch anything you don’t enjoy or take part in any activities you don’t want to. Fandom is for fun and if it ever stops being that don’t be afraid to take a few steps back.

Fic Review-1
This is going to be an ongoing series where I read, review, and generally fan about SPN fics that I've read. Because it's one of the deepest desires of my soul to discuss fics in detail with people, and fan and generally just be a nerd, like you would with a original story Unfortunally, I really, really want to do this with the authors, but I'm shy and reclusive, and don't feel comfortable doing so. So instead, I'm going to make a giant tumblr post to describe how much I love their work.
So, no crit in these reviews, just love
*If you have a recommendation for a SPN fic (gen, preferably), your own or someone else's that you want me to read and "review", please leave and ask or DM me. (<20k for now).
Today's victim: Karma's Gonna Come Collect Your Debt
Set: S13
Parings: gen
Length: 35k
Main character: Written to be Sam, but I would also argue Dean.
Summary:
Sam is dead. Dean isn’t processing.
And then Sam is not dead, Lucifer is there, and they’re suddenly on a deadline- thirty one hours before their single way home literally ceases to exist. Jack needs to be kept away from Lucifer, Sam needs to be kept away from Lucifer, they need to get thirty three people through a rift miles away, and that’s not even mentioning the fucking war currently being waged all over this- literally -godforsaken planet.
But Sam is alive, (alive, alive, Dean’s brother is alive), albeit having one continuous panic attack. This is fine.
(It is so, so not.)
(EVERYTHING BELOW THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS!)
Reasons You Should Read This:
You know those writers that actually manage to take trauma into account, while pushing forward the story and not allowing this to get buried? this is one of those.
Sam and Lucifer content is just. mm. It's horrible, and it's treated like it's horrible.
Dean's anxiety is actually shown
Dean is traumatized by what happened to Sam by the vampires. his brother's throat gets ripped open, and Dean isn't like "oh, we're okay" after Sam walks up alive again, he spends the entire fic stressed about it
The pacing is lovely, no detail is spared
Lucifer shows up at the camp and no one goes "he's in chains, ergo, he's no longer a problem." He is the Devil, and he is treated as the untrustworthy, snake-like creature he is.
Cas isn't powerless, and he's not stupid.
Mary isn't amazing, but she actually tries to have some form of a bond. Sort of.
LUCIFER TORTURING SAM FOR 180+ YEARS IS NOT IGNORED!
Gabriel isn't useless or just there to please fans, he actually does something
The Cage is talked about.
Jack learns about the Cage
Upon learning about the Cage, Jack decides he doesn't want to talk to Lucifer anymore.
Dean is not ignorant to what Lucifer's presence is doing to Sam, or what it has done to Sam in the past. The fic implies that while Sam probably doesn't talk about it to Dean (Because PTSD and it makes sense), Sam isn't unaffected by what happened to him.
Dean is overly paranoid about anywhere he goes, trying to make sure that it's safe. (Such a small detail, but it always, always pleases me to read it)
Dean and Sam actually have a bond, and it's so very present and so very, very enjoyable.
Sam kills Lucifer
No Michael possession!
Protective!Dean
Sam speaks Enochian, which always gets a win for me.
++My Analysis of the fic:
Writing style and why it works:
The writing is very authentic to how I think Dean's brain works. It's anxiety riddled, fast with worry, and clearly shows the depth of how much hunting has affected him. Dean's brain isn't...smooth is the only word I can think of for this, it's not point A to B like other characters are and that makes sense. The writing focuses deeply on reactions, the way words are spoken, and physical sensations. Especially for Dean, there's little to 0 regard on how he's feeling. Which is something I totally see Dean doing.
But the reason that this frantic, almost skittering writing works is because this is a situation that you'd be thinking like that. Lines cut out because Dean, trauma riddled, doesn't want to think about something. There's jumping and processing and "well, crap" moments. My favorite thing about this author's writing style? they are very much into show not tell, which allows the readers to draw their own conclusions, but also makes it a much more enjoyable experience.
The focus on time, especially given these circumstances, was a beautiful detail to add. It kept a sense of pressure on the writing, because everyone knows that we are on a time limit.
There's also a deep sense of secrecy between Sam, Dean and Cas and the others in the story. They have and share information between the three of them that no one else has, and that makes sense because they have been working together for years.
But because, Sam and Dean especially, they are aware of each other, the characters don't feel like strangers. They know each other, and have been living with each other for a long, long time, and you can clearly see that with how attuned they are to each other. It was beautiful.
Character portrayal:
One of my favorite things about how the characters are portrayed here is that Sam is visibly uncomfortable in Lucifer's presence. Sam was disgusted by Lucifer, and when we're told that because Sam still has residual grace left in him and he can kill Lucifer, Sam is horrified. Sam is allowed to be as trauma riddled as someone who went through that would be. It's beautiful.
I also really appreciate how Dean is allowed to be freaked out about Sam literally getting his throat ripped out. Dean is allowed to not be this perfect fearless older brother. Dean is human here. He's a person with struggles who is concerned about Sam and others, but Dean still feels distinct.
I will also forever appreciate how the characters interact here. Everything is so subtle. If they're soft, it's not blatant, if they hate each other, then it's angry staring, but nothing feels explicit, and I love that.
Small details that make me go "mm.":
Dean always checking the "safety" of a room when they enter.
Mary not knowing about the Cage or John telling Dean to kill Sam
Sam's body language when he's around Lucifer
Upon 1 (one) glance at lucifer, Sam is completely aware that the chains have no effect on Lucifer and tells Dean
(pale face, frantic eyes, mouth open in an agonized scream)
Dean not knowing Maggie's name
Favorite scene and why:
This was hard, but man, the scene where Sam and Dean lay down to get some rest after Sam comes back to camp with Lucifer, and they just...don't sleep. There's something about this scene that just is so...deeply and utterly horrifying. Because Sam and Dean are supposed to be safe, right?
Sam's alive, Dean's alive, they're close to each other, neither of them are injured. They're fine.
And yet.
Yet...they're not. And you can feel that. Dean is tense and not-sleeping, and Sam is tense and not-sleeping. And there's something just so deeply haunting about that scene and I just. My love. <3
Favorite quotes:
“No,” Jack shook his head. “Why do they hate you?”
“It’s in me Dean, oh, god-” (“I’ve got demon blood in me Dean, this disease pumping through my veins-”) Dean shuts his eyes against the unwanted memory that had risen unbidden to the forefront of his mind. He firmly shoves it away.
"And now Sam was somewhere. Probably having a panic attack. Dean needed to find him."
"Sam, I know you will, I know you can, this isn’t me doubting you I swear. But, man, you don’t have to. You shouldn’t have to"
He hadn’t, not since the Cage. Maybe he couldn’t.
Because Dean will make time, damnit, because Sam shouldn’t have to f--ing schedule his panic attacks-
Dean can’t see it, but he knows his brother well enough to read the tightness in his shoulders and shifts in his elbows under the jacket that tell him Sam’s pressing into his palm scar again.
Because Sam never got angry anymore... not since the Cage.
“Heyyyyy Cassie! You’re back! Thank Dad.” Dean turned to see Gabriel trotting up to them, a scowling Lucifer in tow. “Take im’, please, he’s all yours.” He said, motioning to the Devil behind him."
Over all, I think that the story is beautiful. please be sure to leave a kudos and a comment if you read, because this author is dear to my heart and deserves them.

I don't know if maybe we're seeing two totally different sides of the fandom, but I know for a fact that Dream doesn't "get away" with anything.
Dream wasn't trying to deny that his fanbase was largely anti-black. He was trying to say that not everyone in his fanbase is anti-black/his entire fanbase is built on being anti-black. (This is coming from a black person). Dream was naive on thinking that there WEREN'T people who were anti-black, in his community, but that's because he largely doesn't dive too deep into his fanbase and only sees the positives of it rather than the negative. Which he tried to remedy by listening to the community and following with the demands to follow black stans, but now he's in a position where some of these stans are being racist and harassing other stans/fans in his community, which Dream has repeatedly said he doesn't endorse, but considering he was repeatedly pushed to follow them, there's a certain context now being shoved in that if he unfollows them, he's a racist. If he continues to do so, he condones them sending harassment and breaking the boundaries that he set up towards his fans.
He also caught a ton of backlash for trying to defend himself when he said the r-word, because even though he explained that thought the r-word meant stupid, people said he can't reclaim it regardless of context and still hold it over his head.
People also call Dream a pedophile and a groomer because of that "16 y/o is legal in the uk joke" and he gets called a manipulative, lying sack of shit for the cheating scandal, while also having the reputation of "siccing" his stans onto people who disagree with him even in the slightest.
Of course he's still widely loved in the fandom, dude has over 22 million fans and most of them still love and support him, but his fandom is also willing to rip and tear into him the minute he "slips up".
"If he was literally anyone else-" well he's Dream. There is no anyone else because according to both his stans and his antis, he's a piece of shit both in an affectionate way, and derogatory way. (Most of the time, it's derogatory).
Sorry, if the rant came off as overly aggressive, but I just came across your post while looking up on a situation on Mcyttwt and saw your dream critical post. I may not love the guy, but I really just don't see the point of saying that he "get away" with anything when I've seen more people cursing his name like it's their dying breath than be supportive and "overlook" his transgressions upon humanity lol
oh trust me, i get you 100% . again most of my post was generally centred on the dsmp fandom itself, because believe me i know the guy gets torn up in any other community. i dont even necessarily hold most of these things against them, like the legal thing and the cheating scandal, i was using them as examples. im sure he has changed from these experiences, but with the mcyttwt community i feel like these things get addressed every once in a while when the criticism and hate from people outside the circle gets too big, but dies down extremely quickly after he makes a tweet about being a dogboy or appearing in the connoreatspants direct. if anything i think the hate dream gets outside the fandom can get a bit too nitpicky, but the problem is people inside his fandom have the direct opposite reaction where they almost never crit him, and the people that do crit him never seem to fully turn against him like other ccs. of course, there is no one like dream and he is a special case but can you imagine what would happen to a different dsmp cc if they said or did at least ONE thing hes done. like, hbomb made a sketchy joke similar to the '16 is legal' joke and used glitches to his advantage to win hole in the wall in mcc similarly to dream using that mod to help get better odds and get a good time on his speedrun (not exact 1:1 comparisons but i think they still work well) but hbomb is the one who now has his reputation damaged in the eyes of lots of mcyttwt users (a lot of them being in dreams own subtwt) while dream gets maybe a slap on the wrist by his fans. again, i know hes a unique case, but i still feel the hypocrisy of dreams fans is unfair when compared to how the same people react to other ccs doing similar things. again, get your point 100% and i am in no way saying dream doesnt get Any Shit Ever, he has a whole kiwifarms thread about him calling him fat and manipulative. im not doubting that he gets no hate, i just find the way his fans in his own subtwt specifically never seem to hold him as accountable as they do people like h, fundy, tommy, techno etc.

sapnap says he wants his chat to be more like punz's but he barely knows what bttv is himself. its almost like he expects this new chat to spawn out of thin air. cmon sapnap put a little effort in and set some boundaries. im rooting for you were all rooting for you
crit under the cut
yeah seriously you can’t just say chat isn’t "too big to change” if you won’t work for it. it’s not even just about setting boundaries, sapnap has said on stream multiple times that his chat is annoying and has said certain donos are cringe or unfunny, but calling out a few people in an audience of 70-100k (or ~50k on his alt) isn’t really effective. mods are there for a reason. they’re supposed to moderate the chat, but how much can they do really with so few hands and ccs that don’t clearly communicate their preferences and stream schedules? mods can disallow certain messages from appearing onstream—sapnap has that feature (ex: yappity mentioned that streamlabs blocks the “weirdchamp” messages which i guess pertains to more obscene things) yet the annoying donos still show up. their mods have said that dteam don’t tell them when they’re going live, so they end up just dropping whatever they’re doing to make sure chat is a safe place for both the cc and the audience. sapnap literally streamed a tournament on his alt account when they didn’t have any bots to help mods moderate. so i’m really not surprised that sapnap’s chat is still like that despite everyone rejoicing every time he expresses clear disdain for his chat on stream.
note that sapnap and punz (and george) have basically the same mods. in contrast, punz’s chat is so good because he communicates with his mod team well, he seems to really understand what will make their jobs easier, adds mods semi-regularly (last time he added six. six! so i think he has at least nine mods now! with 10-20k average viewers!). in turn, his mods tweet loads about how much they love him and his community + how he handles it (which they don’t really do for sapnap and george’s chat). punz taught his chat to use bttv. when dream and sapnap clowned punz’s chat for it, punz defended them wholeheartedly. i don’t blame him, because it does seem like a very warm chat. there is a very, very clear difference with how punz and sapnap handle their chats. punz worked to get that community, and sapnap can still get the same—not by raiding punz’s chat in the hopes that punz will “fix chat up”, but by working with his mods to double down on the aspects of his chat that bother him.

Here's some characters on my main account that Ive got pretty much down on their builds, but they still need various fixes. Artifact levelling, talents, weapon levels, etc. Just need to level up mostly, but the artifacts are good for my standards and I feel pretty confident in their progress, especially Thoma and Diluc. Im very excited to see how Sara and Amber turn out, im not sure who I would pair with Amber or who Sara will support, but Im still excited to finish building them eventually nonetheless.
I think Itto needs work but overall I think hes good for now aside from not having a Husk headpiece with crit damage, I have yet to get a 5 star Husk headpiece at all.

donnie puts on the thinking cap 😃+🎩=🤠
im not up to date rn bc my life is a mess rn BUT I PROMISE ILL GET TO IT
at recovery, ion think sunghoon should be a primary suspect. in fact rn he seems the least plausible. ik litchrally all of them are weird and we shoild be suspicious of them BUT HEAR ME OUT
this case is linked to the series of stalker related murders 10 years ago. taking into account, normal third year uni students are 19 bordering on 20 at their youngest and freshly turned 21 at their eldest. if we trace this back, sunghoon and the batch would have been b/w the ages of 9–11, 11 being jake as he was older than y/n
(jake deserved better)
i dont think a 9 yo would be that obsessive over an adult that they would go as far as murder. professor lee however may be and he's vv sus.
also??? why is sooji literally not sus at all 😭 like maam ur bsf is being stalked and HER bsf just got murdered by said stalker 😭😭😭 these random men keep asking abt y/n why r u excited and not suspicious 😭😭😭😭😭 trynna be supportive but pls girl ✋😭
k bestie ur doing great keep going 😚💕
SFJA BESTIEEE
Oh no, I hope things work out! Please don't rush things c: RL is important!! /sends love
I'm glad you made that connection! 10 years is really a long time between murders so it's definitely a strong clue. However, what I failed to mention, though, is that Sunghoon is not the same age as Y/N, reasons why are in the latest chapters so I won't say anything about that. This is definitely not to say that he is or isn't the stalker or anything, just presenting facts—he is a mature student so, idk if it adds any layers.
(Jake definitely deserves better and I love him a lot because he deserves the world instead of the ending he got, but honestly, sacrifices needed to be made for the sake the plot ;; )
On the subject of Sooji and Soobin. To be really honest, though, I never really properly developed her to the point where I needed to use her in this sense, both Sooji and Soobin were always just polar opposites in terms of thoughts and actions, if that makes any sense. Sooji, mostly, was a character I developed in order to retell stories that Y/N doesn't get to experience—she has contacts with certain characters that perhaps Y/N doesn't, and it presents their point of view, so that's the primary reason why she was developed. Furthermore, I never actually expected her to go this far, so she just ended up being there. And most prominently, I wanted to use her mostly as a plot device in order to propel the plot, she would act as the id to Soobin's superego and then Y/N would be the mediator, or the one receiving all the opposing decisions in order for her to make the choices that propel the plot, and so, in a sense, I made Sooji pretty detached from reality, but hopefully I'll be able to ground her a little more to give her more relevance/relatability, so hopefully she'll be more rounded as a character ;; (so if she becomes a little more caring, it's just me compensating orz she will lose her relevancy in the story later on)
I'll take what you said into consideration, it's really a reminder I need in order to make characters more realistic, so thank you for the constructive crit c:
Thank you very much for reading! I'd love to hear more concrit if you have any more! Mystery is hard to write lmao

Yall I’m Finished Needs to Be Done
You know, I’ve always been one of the first people to stick up the for SU fanbase, but this whole SU critics vs Anti SU criticals (or more commonly referred as SU Stans) war really has made me want to distance myself a little. I’m not blaming the SU critics though. They have all the right to criticize the show all they want. Criticism is good for art and you can learn a lot about storytelling by digging deeper into what works and what doesn’t. However Anti SU Criticals are trying to put a stop to that. Anti Critics are some of the most worthless people on this site. They keep repeating the same Dumbass arguments, argue against even the most irrefutable points, and many of them are just terrible people. I find Anti Critical people in general to be toxic and annoying, but the Anti SU crits have taken it to a new level. That’s why I’m going to highlight the one that is definitely the worst one, Yall I’m Finished.
Tumblr media
He is definitely the worst one for reasons I’ll get to. Maybe it might be better to block or ignore him, but I feel like this would be more fun. I hope to uncover his bullshit fast than the speed of light. Now the point of this post isn’t to encourage harassment of this individual, it’s more to calmly illustrate why being an Anti SU Critical is not worth it. Also this might make for a good laugh. Let’s get into why Y’all I’m Finished needs to just be done.
First, yes I went through this guy’s entire blog to get the biggest understanding of his blog. I kept seeing his posts in the SU critical tag and he kept saying the most ignorant things ever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is most definitely a dedicated Anti SU Critical despite what he says.
Tumblr media
Dude, I went through your entire blog and almost every post was an SU Critical Critical post. Also your own blog description states “Uncovering Su Critic bullshit at the speed of light”. You are a worse liar than Trump. The last line is definitely the biggest lie because here’s the thing, you are a hypocrite. In fact, I will uncover the depths of his hypocrisy.
So let’s get into some of the horrible things he has said. Well he defended Concrete to start with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, not only did he defend Concrete, but he also states that POC are privileged in this society. Now I’m a white male who came from a upper middle class family and even I know that no, they are not privileged. I don’t know how far up your own white ass to even think that. Yes they get Affirmative Action, but that’s meant to counteract all the disadvantages they get in our society. There’s so much racist bullshit in our society that even I’m exhausted from it, and I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be a POC who has deal with this stuff all the time. I understand why the Angry Black Person stereotype exists, because white people keep giving black people shit to be angry about!
Though that isn't the only time he said stuff that proves that he probably has spoken to an actual black person.
Tumblr media
Yes, it does matter. It’s a word that’s been used to dehumanize black people for centuries. I just don’t get white people’s fascination for wanting to use the N-Word. If it’s just a word then there should be no problem with not using it.
Though that’s nothing, wait to you get to this post.
Tumblr media
For those who don’t know Terfs are “Feminists” who are transphobic. So he compared people who are criticizing a show to actual bigots. You know, Mad Max Fury Road is one of my favorite movies, but both times I saw it in theaters the people I saw it with didn’t like it. You know what I did. Nothing. I wasn’t mean to them, I wasn’t comparing them to Apartheid, I just accepted that they had a different opinion than me. Why can’t all of you Anti Crits be half as mature as that!?
Though if he thinks SU Critics are as bad as bigots, I wonder how he will react to an actual bigot.
Tumblr media
Oh my god.
Tumblr media
For those who don’t know Gemkorp was a Nazi fan artist of SU. This included a gif art of Connie getting shot in a ditch. So this guy complains about SU Crits all the time, but when it comes to an actual Nazi your response is “They weren’t hurting anyone”. So someone posting about height inconsistencies is ruining the show, but fan art of Connie getting brutally murdered is a ok. Of course, he got rightfully called out on this bullshit, to which he apologized and has a epiphany about what he’s doing. He turned his life around and is now open minded towards other people... I’m lying of course, he doubled down on defending Nazis when got called out.
Tumblr media
Oh my god. They want everyone who isn’t white dead you idiot!!!
Tumblr media
They’re not all bad!? Nazis are bad by definition. Maybe in 1940s Germany you might have had German soldiers that didn’t hold Nazi beliefs, but being a Nazi in modern day America is inexcusable. Maybe they can be redeemed, but I personally want to protect innocent POC first.
Tumblr media
They are protecting people! They are trying to stop white supremacists from organizing and hurting people. Would he have the same reaction if they were taking down sites from ISIS!? White Supremacist kill more people in America than ISIS do.
His “let’s be nice to Nazis” mentality did gain him a fan.
Tumblr media
Yes, that’s Gemkorps new account giving Y’all I’m finished their seal of approval. Gemkorp is definitely a Nazi with multiple Nazi positive posts which includes them wanting to beat up gay people. Remember when Y’all I’m Finished compared SU Crits to Terfs?
Now let’s move on to his hypocrisy. We started uncovering it a little with his whole “SU Crits are the devil, but Nazis are harmless” mentality, but let’s dig a little deeper. Let’s start with this post:
Tumblr media
Yes, anyone who has half a brain can spot the obvious hypocrisy in this post. Like it’s just comical at this point.
Remember how he said that Nazis don’t deserve to die just because they have different beliefs? Yeah. Imagine if he said that SU crits deserved to die just because they criticized the show.
Tumblr media
Yes, really he really made this post after his whole spiel about how you should be nice to Nazis. Also if you don’t like hearing SU Crits whine anymore than stay out of the fucking tag! I know I’m not the only one who’s said it, but avoiding SU Critical posts are so easy to do! Avoiding Anti Crit posts when you follow SU Critical on the other hand is kind of impossible. Also I just noticed that this guy likes to start of ignorant post with “No Offense”. That doesn’t absolve you from criticism!
Now we have uncovered some pretty hard hypocrisy. You know what would be the ultimate hypocritical thing he could do. He could make an SU Critical post. Of course he wouldn’t do that after everything he said about SU Critical. No one can be that dense...
Tumblr media
Ignoring that what he’s saying is extremely stupid, yes he really did this. He just did this today. I’m laughing my ass off at this. Really man? Really? So according to Yall im finished, SU crits deserve to get hit by a train, yet he just criticized the show. He deserves to get hit by train according to himself. I have never had that  much self loathing and I have depression!
Now to all of you who told me that you hated SU Critical because they were rude, look at this guy! Now do you see how silly you sounded!

Vax’ildan and the beads??!
Okay, I’ve only ever watched campaign 2 of critical role but I’ve seen parts of 1 and I’ve seen art of Vax. My question that I literally CANNOT find anywhere is WHAT DO THE BEADS REPRESENT? I saw Liam once posted a photo of his mug with beads on the handle and like a heart or a broken heart emoji or something and a TON of art of him has beads BUT WHYYYY?
Is it just a character style choice that Liam made? Was it given to him by someone? This question is my white whale. I cannot find an answer. Someone, anyone, please help 😭😭
(I’m tagging literally every character so there’s a possibility someone will find this and answer, I’m sorry y’all.)
EDIT: so apparently no one is totally sure where the beads came from. Some are saying that it was a fan art thing but there’s never been any mention of it in-game. AT LEAST I HAVE AN ANSWER (sort of?)
EDIT 2: I have figured it out!! Well, other people have told me. @sketchingsparrow initially drew him with beads in his hair and it became a thing!!
