you are under no obligation to respond to this, of course, i dont want you to get into trouble bc of fandom drama regarding polls

also a disclaimer - i condemn all sort of typical-tumblr-anon-hate behaviour and i always had. i will never get behind *anyone* sending death threats to *anyone* under *no* circumstances.

that being said.

i keep scrolling through the tags and replies on the poll post. wasnt the point of it to celebrate fandom *history*? everything regarding stucky has already been said by other ppl - the impact this ship had - on the fandoms, fanfics. tumblr in 2014 was the stucky site. it trended on twitter in 2016 thus scaring the executives and forcing them to backtrack out of *any* scenes between steve and bucky bc they were so so scared of a gay fanon ship. the ship still has this impact, bc now mcu is pushing ste*gy while using stucky thropes and scenes.

if we are talking about celebrating fandoms history - we have a fanon ship going back over a decade and a one year old canon ship.

and this is the only thing im salty about. i watched [pirates show] and i loved it. i really did. but i dont see how a ship being canon makes it better than fanon, especially in this context.

(also i dont understand ppl saying that stuckies voted against pirates bc "we hate taika" and that we are racist? and all those mentions of stucky being a white ship - are we racist bc both characters are white?)

(on the other hand i missed most of the discourse under the poll post, so maybe this statement is justifiable, i have no idea)

(also, this one person saying that yeah, [pirate ship] is toxic, but what about bucky's war crimes, steves oposition to the accords and them leaving poor tony in syberia - we've been over this so many times... im just gonna leave that like that)

some shippers are nasty no matter where they're from, some of them don't know how to lose, and some of them clearly don't know how to win, the whole discussion is pointless since it was just a poll, but people hold a fucking grudge somehow, and you're right, there's no point into comparing canon with fanon because that was never the case, stucky was never meant to be canon or something like that

and no! we are not racist for shipping stevebucky instead of *insert interracial ship here* because shipping is NOT activism and it will never be.

those people are just too young to behave properly and don't know how fandom and shipping properly works, so it's just sad and poor behavior of them, no one is hating taika or something like that, i literally didn't saw anyone from our fandom being racist or hating a real actor for a tumblr dead website tumblr poll lmao, some friends of mine on the other side, got real nasty anon asks from that other side,

but I won't blame a whole fandom for it and i have nothing against the show or the ship, the pairing itself seems nice to me and my most dear friends likes them and they're real nice people! unfortunately that's how internet works, some people are real bullies online over... not real people haha

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER SPOILERS

tldr: pros and cons list

PROS:

-cinematography and creative decisions. the movie is visually stunning

-good-ish plot. Janes introduction doesnt feel forced

-good villain

-both posrt credit scenes are reallt good

-really good queer rep

-expands the MCU without feeling like an exposition movie

CONS:

- too. many. jokes. and theyre so cringe too

-the children scene????

- the whole jealous!stormbreaker plot point

-the movie feels like a kids movie which i would respect if it didnt have sexual innuendos, orgy jokes and thor's naked butt

ONTO THE MAIN DISH

Ok im gonna do a quick (lies) review/rant about the movie

Im gonna say its one of the worst phase 4 movies (coming from someone whos really liking phase 4). Id give it a 6/10. BUT one the things i love about it is that it has its own identity and they really let the director expand his vision and make the film his rather than be a generic cbm like the first thors.

But thats also my main issue with it.. i just cant get into taikas vision for this one. I loved ragnarok but here the jokes are cringier and more present, to the point where the first 30ish minutes really feel like a succession of gags.

Also the dialogues are badly written (on that note, i wanted to ask if the english version is better at it, i watched it in italian and im wondering if my issue with the dialogues and the cringeiness is just a dubbing issue).

Onto the spoilers

-Plot

The plot in itself is good, with some minor exceptions and so is the pacing.

The only problems are that Jane becoming mighty thor might feel rushed (i didnt personally mind it tho)

and that Gorr kindapping children felt so RANDOM?? like obviously it was to draw thor out but maybe if they insited more on why heimdall's son is important for Asgard due to his sight, their capture would have made more sense and feel less like a mcguffin needed to further the plot. also Gorr's cage thingy felt like something out of a fairytale and idk how to feel about it

oh and the childern scene but more on that later

Other than that the plot is good, i liked the romcom aspect EXCEPT THE STORMBREAKER BEING JEALOUS OF MJOLNIR PART?????? (then again maybe its less cringe in english idk)

-Characters

Gorr works super well as a villain, christian bale gives it his all and the dubbing was actually astounding for this particular character

Jane is the highlight of the movie, Natalie works really well as a superhero and her chemistry with Chris H. is waaaay better than in the other movies, her arc is really good and almost identical to the comics

Loved the Darcy cameo

Sif was??? there??? she did stuff??? for 2 seconds???

Valkyrie was also really cool, we finally got the confirmation that shes a lesbian and her scenes with gorr are amongst the highlights. And marvel will pay for my therapy after almost killing the only character i care about from the thor franchise.

The guardians are barely there (Crisp ratt looks like someone botched his plastic surgery) and i guess they just are a way to introduce the gorr issue and many many gags (like the temple destruction.. the parts with Kraglins wife... thor doing the splits.... etc...)

Korg is ok.... i wish they had the balls to kill him bevause his "death" scene was actually really cool and surprising. Even tho him with his husband/boyfriend at the end was SO CUTE

The other gods are... cool? the dumpling god was more cringe than cute and i think the scissor god pun was lost to the dubbing. Also we were robbed of like a Khonshu/Taweret cameo, maybe them being on thor side or smt idk

Zeus was really cool and the whole gods are useless and their hybris thing was really cool to see. Ive seen people call zeus cringe but for me it was one of the best parts of the movie. THOR KILLING ZEUS WAS EVERYTHING??? I WISH THEY HAD MORE MOMENTS WHERE THE CHARACTERS EMPTIONS FELT SO STRONG LIKE I FELT THORS RAGE AS HE KILLED HIM (even tho hes alive in the post credit scene)

the inclusion of eternity was wild but honestly was executed well

-direction

A major pro is the cinematography, some shots are outright stunning, some creative decisions are amazing and the cgi works reallt well

ive seen people criticize the costumes for being cosplay-y but it honestly didnt bother me

-cringe

I guess the only problem i had was that there were to many jokes and it reallt felt like a contuous jump from one comedic situation to another woth some hiys of fights, romance and stuff

OH AND THE SCENE WITH THE CHILDREN WAS SO BAD, LIKE I WAS STARTING TO ENJOY THE MOVIE AND THINKING IT WOULD GROW AND ME AND BAM! ITS JUST SO CRINGE AND THEY COULDVE MADE IT WORK SO MUCH BETTER SO EASILY. IT WOULD MAKE SENSE THAT THE CHILDREN WOULD DEFEND THEMSELVES BUT THEY SHOULD'VE STARTED FIGHTING/HELP ON THEIR OWN (ya know so they dont die) AND THEN GET THE POWERS OF THOR BECAUSE THEY ARE WORTHY RATHER THAN THAT CRINGE ASS SCENE. ALSO THE TEDDY BEAR SHOOTING LIGHTING OUT OF ITS EYES???? THE GIRL CUTTING WONSTERS UP WITH A WAND?? (it sounds good on paper but after 1.30 hrs of gags and nonsense it just felt like too much)

The ending was meh... i dont mind thor being a father to gorrs daughter but her having powers out of the blue,??? do they come from eternity????

it was weird to introduce a cosmic entity in the last 20 mins of the movie but it worked pretty well.

ONTO THE POST CREDITS:

I completey guessed that they would introduce Hercules and a thor vs Hercules movie seems right up taikas alley so i look forward to that. Not a fan of zeus not dying tho

The scene in valhalla was sooo cute. Heimdalls cameo was sweet and felt like a good conclusion tho the first thor run (like the thor and tdw worldbuilding)

overall a fun unhinged ride that is downplayed by excessive comedy, which is a shame bc the character journeys are spot on (kudos to taika for putting that much character development in 2hrs of movie). FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHATCH IT IN ENGLISH WITH DUBS bc the main problem is that the jokes dont wok and the dubbing might be a major reason as to why

i just feel have not seen a single post/tweet/etc about taika waititi or love and thunder that has felt normal or like a reasonable/proportional response to the film. (this post got way too long and i feel embarrassed and cringe about it so its going under a cut)

i see a tweet criticizing him for poking fun at the cgi in a clip used as promo, and like, okay the phrasing of the tweet kind of exaggerates how cruel he is being (about a character that he literally plays), but the points being made about how vfx artists are overworked and underpaid is absolutely true. but the tweet is made by a zack snyder stan account positioning taika waititi himself as the poster boy of the MCU and the symbol of the companies treatment of vfx artists as a whole. which is weird. i think.

i see a post on here about the same clip, half the notes are diehard loki stans who already view taika as the devil incarnate because he “disrespected” their baby boy in ragnarok talking about how hes an asshole and they hate him because he has a huge ego etc etc. and more posts using these moments as the core basis to talk about the MCU and why its bad as a whole and i just. since when was he the face of the MCU?? i know he made the movie that most recently came out but i am just.

we KNOW that the directors barely play a role in these films we all reblogged that article about how half the movie is made - not just written, but literally the scenes have been created digitally etc - before the director even signs on and we KNOW ragnarok is an outlier (and from what i hear this film is more standard MCU fare, though i also hear it reads like a kind of parody of that, which i could absolutely believe, but i need to see it for myself ofc). but suddenly when its a guy we’ve decided needs to get taken down a peg its ONLY his fault?

like obviously i like taika waititi a lot i have Feelings for him and also i like his work!!!! but the point of this post isnt to be like omg defending taika online isnt enough i need a sword im just like. why do i need to defend him?? what did he do??? he clearly doesnt give a shit about marvel like i think thats what it comes down to at the end of the day. marvel movies will never be truly good no matter who makes them so he made a(n apparently) bad movie and got his paycheck. obviously i don’t actually know him or his motivations etc etc and im not going to die on the hill of defending a fucking marvel director or whatever but the intensity of the backlash just feels. genuinely weird to me.

How I Would Fix the MCU Movies (in chrono order)

Black Widow is mentioned but there are no spoilers! also this is super long sorry lol

CA:TFA

--More time with the howling commandos- instead of a montage with their battles with sit with them and feel their struggles. we feel not only capt’s grief but everyone on the team when bucky ‘dies’. idk would have loved to see more of a band of bothers bond

Captain Marvel

--I saw/read somewhere that her story could have work really well with a similar structure as CA:TFA and i agree. they were so concerned with making carol look powerful that they forgot to give her the fiery/badass personality we were promised. there was too much telling not enough showing

Iron Man

--Literally Nothing. Perfect. Great Intro to the series.

Iron Man 2

--again really solid movie i wish the villains were a bit more developed by tbh this is my fav iron man movie

The Incredible Hulk

--babes i dont even remember this movie its super cool they keep rossi around from it tho. hes literally the only thing the mcu kept from this monstrosity i would keep a similar plot structure but with mark ruffalo and a better script and tbh a better evrything. cannot tell you where to start with this jesus

Thor

--would have liked to see of the personality thor has later on in the timeline line- but it is interesting to think maybe he developed his humor and friendliness from his time on earth, idk this movie was kinda dull? i mean everything is dull compared to ragnarok and better compared to the dark world so idk how to fix that- maybe less of chris’s weird screaming- definitely less of chris’s screaming

The Avengers

--honestly love this movie-great set up to the team dynamics wouldn’t change anything. i love the nostalgia i get from watching this

Iron Man 3

--another movie i dont really remember but? this is the one with the bunny right? i feel like after iron man 1 the quality of tony’s enemies has gone down hill but i could watch rdj do anything so overall good experience

Thor: The Dark World

--besties what even happened in this movie like, jane babes what are we doing. loki is as amazing as ever tho. but like ‘oh no lokis dead again whatever are we going to do’ i would simply through the whole thing away- keeping jane going to asgard, loki being dramatic, and the relationships of the asgardian gang we get to see. also the reality stone thats pretty important

CA:TWA

--I. Love. This. Movie. my fav in the whole timeline. can you tell im a capt girl? literally the best wow won’t change a thing

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1

--so! much! fun! i love their family dynamics and tbh i love peter quill (we all did until pratt was a dick but)

Guardians Vol. 2

--I wasn’t obsessed with this movie but I cant quite figure out how i would change it- it was visually beautiful and emotionally beautiful but idk something felt off until the very end

Age of Ultron

--hot take- i really like this movie. i like how it completely changes the direction of the series and makes the mcu feel so real, like the friend ship seen- i would have like more clint so his character arc in endgame would have been impactful i dont hate the farm family but man i sure dont love them jesus but yea i love the dialogue and the only thing i would really change is clint’s involve meant. also helen cho deserved to have a bigger part in the mcu

Ant-Man

--super fun! i feel like this movie is great the way it is- a familiar super hero movie when the series was starting to get pretty dense with the lore wont change anything

CA:CW

--i read somewhere this movie was originally going to be steve and sam and the rest of the squad finding bucky and i was robbed. over time the mcu starting telling us how great steve and buckys relationship was instead of showing us. like men can show each other affection marvel that is a thing that happens but tbh i loved this movie- i would change a lot but i still really enjoyed it

Spiderman: Homecoming

--its so cute i love it but I miss andrew garfields peter- he felt more like the comics but besties i love this movie and tom i would just change how ton is characterized to be more comic actuate but also maybe not idk

Doctor Strange

-- tilda swinton owns my heart and sole. but imma be honest i saw this in theaters 3 weeks after a horrid concussion and i remember none of it and thinking about it makes me sick (love head trauma) so imma just leave it how it is

Black Panther

--nothing. its art.

--I’m writing this around an hour after I watched the movie and tbh I dont know how I feel about it. I dont love it yet but im not quite sure why yet- its most likely the pacing it felt a little rushed to me but idk yet ill be able to gather all my thoughts in a later post prolly

Thor: Ragnarok

-- to think i can even dream to improve on anything taika waititi is putting bad karma into the universe. that man is a genius. you can feel just how comfortable everyone is in their characters which makes for a great performance

Ant-Man and the Wasp

--the breather we all needed after iw but i dont think anyone really loved it- no idea how to fix it but yknow it was just bland

Avengers: Infinity War

--I loved it. I loved it so much. obviously there are some bad things here and there but i would not change a thing

Avengers: Endgame

--I hated it. I hated it so much. obviously there are some good things here and there but i would not keep a thing.

(I have in fact written an essay about said topic bc i felt so passionate about it i did not know what else to do)

Spiderman: Far From Home

--I dont know something was off for me with this one- again I think it was a pacign issues but I am not sure how I would change it

I might do the tv shows in another post- but if i do those i want to include the netfilx marvel tv shows as well as the agent carter and agents of shield series(es?)

i think what’s important to remember as we continue to open this discussion about parasocial relationships and art is that, like, we should be careful about idolizing all content creators, including directors,,,,..bc yeah im excited as hell for thor 4 and i love taika’s humor but i think if we put all our hopes into believing that thor 4 is going to be perfect and unproblematique and well written we’re going to be sorely disappointed

especially because i remember there was a distinct period of time after tws and aou that everyone was worshipping the russo brothers and calling them the saviors of the mcu and they were The Only Ones That Were Allowed To Direct Any Avengers Movies and now it’s very much The Russos Burned Our Crops Poisoned Our Water Supply And Sent A Plague Unto Our Houses, and, yeah, the criticisms are not unfounded but what i’m trying to say is that directors are still human and they can and will screw up and we shouldn’t be putting them on pedestals in this toxic idolization-cancel cycle and honestly if i come back here in X years and find that everyone has turned against taika post thor 4 i honestly won’t be surprised

my initial thought was if we do female thor then it should be valkyrie because she’s king and she already knows what she's doing and shes proved herself worthy by literally running asgard whereas mcu jane... hasnt really done anything to warrant being thor. like shes a great character and i was mad when they dropped her but she doesn't have what comics jane has yet. BUT taika and his galaxy brain have my undying trust and loyalty so he can do it

Captain Marvel

Alright I'm probably gonna piss people off with this so let's get this outta the way.

I am not the smartest person, so I don't usually get most details.

I'm not a hardcore marvel fanatic. I'm a casual fan that's only really watched the movies.

I do believe women should get equal rights and responsibilities as men.

I understand that all this coming from me, a cis male, is very likely biased to some point. I'll try my best to avoid bias but it's an opinion, it's most likely gonna be biased to some bit.

Understanding that this is an opinion, I am very open to responses and I want to hear what people think, as long as it is civil and you respect my opinion and me as a person.

There are Endgame Spoilers, so scroll past if you haven't watched it yet.

Alright lets go.

In my opinion, Captain Marvel was very poorly written. Her standalone movie was purely about making her the focus of a "strong female character".

Yes, they got the toxic masculinity scene right, and she was justified in retaliating against the biker coming after her.

Yes, they showed how female figures are unfairly put down.

What I don't like is that there is no character development.

I'm gonna use other avengers as examples/parallels here.

From the very beginning, she is shown as having unfathomable amounts of power, cocky, and determined. Tony, Stephen, and Thor are also very much like this.

However, those other characters are put into very humbling moments, sometimes over several movies, sometimes in their own:

Tony gets shrapnel from his own bomb and he's forced to come to terms with the fact that he's only human. He stops being a weapons dealer and decides to do some good with his tech (Iron Man)

Stephen is a super cocky, critically acclaimed, award winning Neuro Surgeon. He even wants to pass up on saving a life to "keep his perfect record". An accident makes him lose his hands. Eventually he reaches the Ancient One, and he's extremely cocky, trying to figure out the science behind it, and calling her a scam artist, after which she promptly shows him how little he knows with that psychedelic sequence. After being humbled, he proceeds to learn as much as he can. He becomes somewhat cocky again, but then his character develops: he becomes more understanding, and even willing to do whatever it takes to save the Earth from Dormammu, even if it meant dying over and over and over and over.

Thor begins as an almighty God, rich with power and fame and charm. He swaggers on down to the frost Giants and fights them (foolishly, not considering other ramifications). Odin banished him to earth, stripping him of his powers. But in the end, he's grown as a character, sacrificing himself to try and save his friends. He becomes worthy of being Thor again.

Hell, even Loki. Would y'all have done so back when Thor first came out? No. He was the horrid villain, so manipulative and cunning. Double crossing his own family just to get power (Odin wasn't all that great of a father either but that's a different discussion). Yet here we are now. Loki is a hero. And he deserves to be called so because of everything the MCU has put him through, and how he turned out.

All the above are (yes, male) examples of well written characters

But there's also Wanda.

She's strong, extremely powerful, and an utter badass

But unlike Captian Marvel, she's empathetic. She's someone who the audience can relate to. She's lost her brother, her lover, and 5 years of her life.

She was able to fend off Thanos with ONE HAND in IW, WHILE HE HAD THE INFINITY GAUNTLET WITH 5 STONES

She single handedly made Thanos basically shit his pants in Endgame, where he was willing to sacrifice his own troops just to get Wanda off of him (he was able to easily punch away captain marvel).

Not only his Wanda a better "strong female character" overall, she's very arguably the strongest avenger, period.

She could have been written extremely well, even if it was just to make her the "standard strong female lead". Wanda had a solid background in the MCU, had emotional depth to her, and had a solid character arc.

Captain Marvel started strong, remained strong, went through some hijinks, solved some problems, reconnected with an old friend, made a new one, beat up a bunch of bad guys, and then left. When she came back, when asked how they lost to Thanos before, she simply says "you didn't have me".

Now, yes, captain marvel could have been written better. But snarky by itself is only a pleasant personality when being used for comedic purposes.

And yes, other snarky male MCU characters exist. And they were annoying. But that was not their only personality traits (unless they were written as a villain, like Ultron, or Loki in Phase 1).

Dr. Strange was insufferably cocky before being trained by the ancient one. Tony was insufferably cocky before getting blown up by one of his own bombs and being forces to craft a suit in a cave. Rocket is an asshole but underneath that it's shown that he does have compassion for his closest compatriots. Yondu undoes him in GotG 2 and he's emotionally there for Thor in IW and Endgame. Rhodey gives Tony a lot of sass but that's because that's how their friendship dynamic works. Tony is visibly heartbroken when Rhodes goes down.

All because they were all written well.

Captain Marvel (in the MCU) was not written well.

Her movie was good, in the sense that most action movies are good. But as a marvel movie, it left me wanting more character development from her.

Wanda was well written but she was squandered, being put aside as a supporting hero rather than a main hero.

And that is why I'm not quite fond of captain marvel.

Im hopeful for future movies (undoubtedly there will be sequels) to flesh her out better as a character, similar to what Taika Watiti did with Thor, Loki and Hulk in Ragnarok.

P.S. please don't confuse this with misogyny. I still think Brie Larson is a good actor, just fed bad lines.

P.P.S. The reason there are so many examples of male characters and not female characters is because that's all I could think of in the moment.

some avengers endgame Thoughts cause i saw the movie yesterday and can't stop thinking about it

nebula and tony playing!!!! i just love how nebula's personality comes through without it being ooc

also... nebula carefully sitting tony up. she Cares so much :(

steve immediately going to tony :( like im a stucky kind of gal but holy shit i love them

which was completely erased in the next scene where tony drags steve up and down and after that passes out, which is a confrontation Mood

i wonder how they made tony look so skinny and sick. if it was cgi then i applaud them cause it looked so good

the way they killed thanos so fucking quickly here... i don't know how to feel lmao. like cutting the gauntlet arm and then slicing his neck... that's what we were all screaming at them during infinity war. it's good to see them learn from their mistakes, i guess ?

(can't remember the order in which things happen from now so forgive me if i make a mistake)

i told my sister "that's one of the russos!!!!!" so it took me ten seconds to realize that the russo was the gay character everyone was talking about (i thought it would be fury for no other reason than it being shocking and fury having very little to do with the plot, but)

and steve being supportive of that :( man out of time said gay rights!

don't wanna say it now... for now ill just state: i love what they're doing with natasha in the movie. she truly feels like a friend to steve. like that small gesture of her sliding the plate towards steve is just so domestic and beautiful! it really makes her feel so human and complex at the end. i was so worried about her being wasted but i loved her throughout the film

it was a fucking rat who got scott out. i have to laugh.

thor's panic attack being used for cheap laughs was the most uncomfortable moment for me... or any scene where people only saw thor as Fat and Lazy (basically, two thirds of the movie)

so it's canon that everyone checks out steve's ass and appreciates it as a national treasure. that's all i never thought id needed.

but seriously!!!! steve wielding AND fighting with mjolnir!!!!! couldn't stop thinking about it all day!!!!!!!!! STEVE IS WORTHY!!!!!!!

parallels to thor going for the chest. it never works babies!

and just.... this was steve's moment. steve i-can-do-this-all-day rogers really fighting with every ounce of his body and soul against the most powerful being on earth. justice for him getting knocked after touching thanos for one second in iw!

and steve getting up again! all dirty and wounded!! trembling with exhaustuation and resolution!!! with his broken shield on his arm!!!! just him facing the biggest army of the universe!!!!! so powerful

sorry to destroy this epic moment, but like, okay. people had been reintegrated to life like, twenty minutes before. and i understand that they were all confused and out of place. but sam really needed ALL that time to just... try to communicate with steve????? ok

the "avengers..." *brings mjolnir with one hand while bracing his shield with the other* "assemble" moment was... oh my God. chills all over my body.

that One Moment where steve has stormbreaker on his hand... so fucking hot

the tony and peter reunion holy shit. the hug was everything i needed! like please just hug tony stark for ages

and tony and pepper fighting together!!! that's a power couple right there

i felt it when quill looked at gamora and just... stopped. im so sad his moment was played for laughs when it was obviously such an important moment for his character

thanos was so fucking scared of wanda that he put his own troops at risk to stop her for a little while. strongest avenger right there!

and carol coming back!!!! i was like

i felt so relieved at that point. i was like "yeah thanos is fucking over what's next"

no need to talk about all the women coming together to defend peter :')

thanos getting the gauntlet again... the nonono chanting came back

fucking CAROL trying to stop him. looking at him with such a determined face, like "you can't stop me from stopping you". it was so powerful he had to snatch one stone to stop her

and strange giving him the one finger to tony.... i knew what was coming holy shit. i knew it. they knew it.

tony really proved himself there. it was his best scene on the entire mcu, don't argue with me!!!!!! the way he stood there and took all the power of the stones, unmasked, unaffected, powerful and almighty

"i am... iron man" cue to ugly sobbing

tony knew there was no other way. pepper did, too... she knew exactly what she had to tell him. she was right. tony spent all of these years moved by selfishness first, then fear, then guilt. an endless battle since thanos was on his head. but the war was over. what mattered was that he saved everyone, and he sacrificed himself for everyone. a complete 180° from last movie's ending.... wow

gotta said... peter there felt a little bit out of place for me. i think it would've been more powerful if he didn't say anything, though peter is a teenager, i can get it

his arc with steve felt unfinished, too. i would've liked to see steve's reaction as well, since tony had told him he wanted everyone back and also for his family so survive. but whatever

im not against tony killing thanos instead of gamora and nebula but i would've liked if we saw them react to his death, at least:/ like a little parallel between nebula's reaction at the beginning and the end of endgame

the One stucky interaction here was pulled from cap1 and iw. i feel betrayed

bucky Knew what steve was going to do. i wonder if steve told him before or bucky just sensed it

you can't convince me steve would go back and carelessly dance with peggy knowing his friend is being used like a weapon by hydra and bound to kill tonys parents. nah nah. it all felt wrong

HAWKEYE - i mean my WIFE KATE BISHOP IS COMING !!!! and with kate bishop comes the young avengers and with the young avengers comes lgbtq+ characters !! if i see america chavez say “princess, i’ve seen the way you look at me, you’re not that straight” on the big screen my amerikate heart will EXPLODE and kill everyone in the theater

the eternals - that entire cast can GET IT i mean whoever had the genius idea to add salma hayek to the cast needs a raise - not to mention angelina jolie and richard madden and kumail nanjiani … hot damn

falcon and winter soldier - i mean ive been so ready for the sambucky rom com cop show that officially has sharon coming back in it i mean ... AMAZING

shang chi - i mean what more can be said besides BLESS

wandavision - i dont think i have been subtle about my dislike for mcu wanda so this is pretty self explanatory HOWEVER ... teyonah parris just got cast for monica to debut in this series soooo to me that is the only thing that can save this show for me if anything can save it

doctor strange 2 - i gotta be honest i was pretty excited for this but then i saw that mcu wanda is going to be in it and i just ... sigh i mean im obviously still ready to see stephen and hopefully more christine who has been completely forgotten but im definitely a lot less excited now

black widow - as much as i am here for female solo movies and the addition of one of my og women crushes rachel weisz and the introduction of yelena ... not much is gonna save the movie from scar jo unless she decides to be a tree in this one

here is my full opinion on Avengers: Endgame

1. NONE OF THE TIME TRAVEL MADE ANY FUCKING SENSE they literally BROKE THEIR OWN FUCKING RULES

2. Steve staying in the past? WHACK. it literally does not work to keep consistent with the current MCU that’s happened and would literally TEAR APART EVERYTHIGN IT DOESNT” WORK!!!!

3. also... i didn’t even get a fucking GODDAMN REUNION HUG BETWEEN STEVE AND BUCKY? NOTHING??? THEY DIDN”T EVEN STAND NEXT TO EACH OTHER DURING TONY’S FUNERAL????? LIKE.... NO OFFENSE BUT BUCKY WAS LITERALLY ////THE MOST//// IMPORTANT THING IN STEVES LIFE AND I GOT NOTHING. LIKE DAMN if you’re gonna make captain america say ‘hail hydra’ AND no homo him by making him bring up and carry around a locket of peggy (That he’s NEVER done before) AT LEAST FUCKING GIVE ME A GODDAMN HUG FOR HIS BEST FUCKING FRIEND OF ALMOST A CENTURY. and i get it. he’s captain america, and the backlash of giving any ounce of “could he be Not Straight?” is terrigying but like GODDAMN you fucking cowards. you didn’t have to make him say hh AND no homo the ever loving FUCK out of him.

9. SUUUPER stoked to see asguardians of the galaxy with thor!!!! taika waititi i trust you and only you to handle the mcu

10. the scenes with thor broke my fuking heart... my boi has PTSD

11. STEVE CAN WIELD MJOLNIR MY BOI!!!! turns out, the only two avengers i love are both the ones thay can wield mjolnir.

12. loved seeing loki... missed you....

13. LOVED SEEING CAPTAIN MARVEL... THE BEST!!!!

overall i’m just... it was a fine movie... entertaining... but also its just... BLEH. The Russo Brothers have NO RIGHTS.

OH HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE. pretty much all of this excludes black panther and ragnarok. nothing but respect for my mcu

it took them literally 10 years and like 20 movies to have anyone that wasn't a white man lead a solo film. like. that is a LONG ASS TIME

not to mention the straight people EVERYWHERE until valkyrie who they didn't SHOW is bi. trust only tessa thompson and taika watiti. let that be the lesson here

and the women and people of colour they DID have in their movies were done incredibly dirty like rhodey (who could absolutely have held a solo movie following iron man 2. or even 1 like. they just slipped in that he’s become a superhero n didn't do anything with it like... really????????) gets shot in the fuckin spine by that piece of shit robot. sharon was set up so well and now doesn't exist. mcu nat i dont even know where to begin

mcu maximoffs/dr strange/iron fist. the whitewashing trifecta. they went for the hatrick and they nailed it. thanks i hate it

but with the maximoffs specifically like. GOD theyre bad. wendy has gone from ‘moves things with her mind’ (not wanda’s actual powers but whatevs we’ll get to that bit) to literally being able to destroy an infinity stone. she’s everything mr whedon wants in a female character. and mcu pietro??? a weak bitch. pietro maximoff would die of spite before he sacrificed himself for clint fucking barton

so many of the movies dont line up with one another like PLEASE marvel directors watch each other’s movies. the russos basically turned up at taika watiti’s house and told him to go fuck himself

or just... hire good directors.... the russos fooled everyone into thinking they were good with cap 2 but what the ever loving fuck was civil war and infinity war

this is petty and i KNOW movies dont have to follow the comics like. i know that and sometimes its a very good thing, but with marvel they wanna take parts from the comics, sometimes GOOD parts and they wanna fuck it all up and force it to fit into their shitty narrative. like. civil war for example.. had a PURPOSE in comics. it was a genuine grey area and, well written, it could've been a nuanced scenario about how different types of people might have benefited or suffered from it (re: mutants etc). in the mcu, civil war was uuuuuh wendy blew up some people and she used to be a nazi but we’re all gonna defend her because im steve rogers and i do what the fuck i like regardless of literally everything else.

they based the mcu on the ultimates universe???? TAKE THE GOOD BITS THEN!!!! like take miles morales instead of just giving peter his life and his friends

get better actors jesus christ. just. better as people would be a start. ms substitute asian johansson and mr Gun Rights pratt. perish

mostly what it comes down to with me though is that marvel literally does not have to make good movies. they can make any old shit and make literally millions of dollars. barely anyone gave a fuck about ant man or doctor strange, and if you didn't read comics, you likely wouldn't have even KNOWN who they were but everyone went to see them because they had marvel on the posters. and thats pretty much marvel’s entire deal. ALL they do is get credit for things they havent done
