Idk why, but I headcanon that Ron Staedtler suffers from a generalized anxiety disorder.

1. Constant guilt that he has to repress, and when it’s no longer repressed he stresses over things that happened years ago (like squishing a ladybug and introducing Kanye to politics lol)

2. His attempts to erase his own memories (presumably to free himself from the guilt and ease his suffering)

3. Doesn’t seem to be good at making friends or strong relationships beyond Reagan because he fears causing them harm or that something is wrong with him (he was afraid of asking out Reagan because he sees himself as a screw up, and he struggles to connect with Brett until they have a moment of emotional openness)

4. Used to be a conspiracy nut and craved an explanation about reality because he was ultra paranoid

You're so pathetic that you can't fathom how any of that could be beneficial for anyone. Now look at you. Unloved, disheveled, and in prison."

"You talk so lowly of love yet if you'd just accepted it, accepted that you WERE loved– Maybe things would've been different. Maybe we wouldn't be in prison and maybe your marriage wouldn't collapse."

So I've been trying and failing to compile my thoughts about Inside Job part 2 into something vaguely coherent, so think I'm just gonna leave it at this:

Inside Job is a mixed bag. It always was. But somehow, it's just very, very charming to me.

It's funny, but it's rarely, if ever, laugh-out-loud hysterical. It has its emotional moments, but it's rarely heartwrenchingly tragic or particularly insightful. Continuity is all over the place. It's at times overladen with pop culture references. All in all, it's often good, but never great.

And yet somehow, it keeps pulling me back in.

The dynamic animation. The appealing character design. The silly jokes. The character dynamics, god the interpersonal chemistry. It's just so so charming.

The show just exudes heart. People loved making this, and it shows. There's a genuineness to this show that I'm missing from so many cynical and ironic adult animated sitcoms nowadays, and it feels like such a breath of fresh air.

I wish I could phrase this better so it didn't sound like such a backhanded compliment. But bottom line is; i do love this show, despite my often mixed feelings on it. And that's my two cents.
