‘ eunsoo. ’  anna calls out her roommate like her mother used call her name hearing the stairs wince past eleven at night, or whenever she forgot to take dinner out of the freezer to thaw, which was more often than she remembered. eunsoo’s not the one in trouble though, she is. seated on her bedroom floor, anna is cornered by shopping bags  —  the sturdy, reusable kind, branded with high-end designer names like chanel, givenchy, burberry, name one, she’s got their bag. ‘ can you do me a favor real quick? ’ she asks, making sure the defeat comes through in her tone, and that her hair is a static-y mess when she pulls on her winter hat. ‘ all you have to do is pick my fiancée’s christmas gift, ’ it might be an odd request but she thinks her telemarketer tone sells it. to trust her with this major decision should sound like a compliment, and not like she’s throwing the responsibility onto her like a burning hot potato. ‘ think you can do that? ’
