ok fuck i don't know if i'll remember everything or be able to articulate anything but i just saw Nope for the second time and this is a random incomplete list of observations/thoughts/interpretations from my second go at it. under the cut
Nahum 6:3 at the beginning is about the judgment cast on the city of Ninevah. my understanding/interpretation is that Hollywood = Ninevah
there's at least two mentions of the number 613? ("six minutes and thirteen seconds of havoc" and the first time jupe saw jean jacket was at 6:13 pm) i have very little knowledge of judaism/jewish commentaries but i intend to read up more on the significance of 613 in relation to mitzvot, the mishkan (tabernacle), and how in kabbalah every complete entity has 613 parts (edit: also 613 is a prime number!!)
one of my first thoughts about jean jacket is that it looks like a camera or a projector or lens, as well as an iris/eye, but also when it opens up it's very like. angelic? like what if jean jacket is meant to be some kind of divine entity
i noticed in the gordy scene when it shows the destroyed set and the cameras that the cameras film reels look like the faces of the alien costumes jupe designed (i'm assuming they're the reels? idk much about camera anatomy idk) so the alien costumes look like the body of a chimp with a head that looks like a reel of film
i didn't really notice the orange scorpion king crew sweatshirt that oj wears when they're trying to get the shot but like !!!!! jean jacket's movie!!!!!
they way jupe is sitting so eerily still when he's having a flash back to the gordy incident, makes me think of the perfectly upright perfectly still shoe. i still don't have a full thought on what exactly was up with the shoe but like. maybe it was just a random moment of order in a scene of chaos that jupe could focus on and that was what kind of protected him from gordy? he was being quiet and still and not making noise and it helped gordy calm down. but also, as others have said maybe it's a "bad miracle" this shoe that doesn't fall over and maybe jupe kind of interpreted as a sign that he's special or different somehow. he was "safe" from gordy and he was "safe" from jean jacket (or y'know. so he thought) and maybe felt he had some kind of connection with them that would allow him to "tame the beast" so to speak
also the horse named lucky was the only thing jean jacket didn't consume at jupe's show. and lucky survived at the end too
em's speech for the safety meeting at the beginning is word for word the same speech her father would give about their business which is why she gets it wrong when she says her "great great grandfather" because she's repeating what her father would have said. oj is clearly uncomfortable/not in his element trying to work with all the people on set and while em is more outgoing/upbeat she is also nervous and doesn't really know how to do this! like she and oj are so different but they're both struggling!
i don't recall the exact line but when the four of them are discussing how to get the shot oj says something about "something they can't erase" and like from the literal very beginning of film and motion pictures their family has been excluded and erased and left struggling and ignored by the rest of Hollywood but the haywood siblings plan to establish themselves and their family in a way that no one will be able to ignore and forget
the tmz guy's reflective helmet looks a lot like whatever that reflective mirror ball thing (idk what that was but you know the thing) was at the beginning that spooked lucky on the commercial set and i'm guessing that's partly why jean jacket went after him but also i was so deeply unsettled at how this guy was laying on the ground with probably a million broken bones and so much pain and sees this scary ass man eating ufo hovering over him and he's still just screaming at oj to get him his camera or at least take a picture of him and idk. just the way we have a constant need to document and record everything especially tragic/traumatizing things for the sake of like. entertainment. which is y'know the dominant theme but this scene in particular really gave me chills
i have so many more thoughts but i'm still ruminating. anyway i will literally never ever ever not be thinking about the line "what's a bad miracle?"

Super random, you don't know me lol, but I was looking through the notes of the most common breakfast post and I was wondering if you'd be willing to share your breakfast cookie recipe. I've been wanting to make some but the one recipe I tried I didn't like, and I haven't been motivated to look for another one
i actually love this ask and that's partly because @averymayhemeveryday just asked me for this a few days ago and i typed it all up into a discord server we're in, so i'm just editing that braindump into a slightly neater recipe and including the pictures i took on my most recent batch. still, i made this up from nowhere and i cook on vibes, there is precious little exact measurement in here so you will have to do your own experimenting and figure out what you like.
step one: soaking your grains
i mix about two cups old fashioned oats, a couple tablespoons or so of chia seeds, about a cup of unsweetened applesauce, and enough (oat) milk/water to get it fairly loose, then let it sit in the fridge for at least a few hours to let the liquid soak into the grains. overnight is better. i've done it for over 24 hours and i really like the texture i got. i tend to mix in a bit of instant coffee granules at this point for taste and caffeine content, maybe a tablespoon or two. you can add cinnamon or other spices before or after soaking, i think i've done it both ways. iirc em said they put in cardamon after soaking and wished they did it before so it would soak into the grains more.
step two: mixing in the rest of your stuff
after soaking, i put in a generous amount of peanut butter, maybe like a third/half cup? i don't measure it at all really, just scoop it in. sometimes i add a bit of molasses, you could do brown sugar too. might be nice to do that before soaking so it soaks into the oats, idk i don't think i've tried it. usually like a big spoonful. i frequently do mini chocolate chips, but i usually do sweetening OR chips, not both, that's just a lot of sugar. then if it's too stiff i put a bit more water or milk in, i get it a little looser than traditional cookie dough but still thick enough to hold together.

step three: baking
i use a cookie scoop but if you don't have one a spoon is fine it's just more work, flatten them down because without any butter or some kind of fat they won't flatten themselves, you can pack them onto a cookie sheet tightly cause they won't rise or spread, whatever shape you put them into the oven in, they will stay that shape and size. bake about 25 minutes at 375f. might want to check them at 20 depending on your oven. they get a bit brown around the edges when they are done. i use two cookie sheets stacked together, it's a trick my mom taught me that decreases the risk of burning the bottoms.
EDITING THIS TO ADD: please grease your cookie sheet or use parchment paper you do not want to try to bake something without any fat in it and then get it totally stuck!

i find that it makes enough to eat 6-7 a day for a week, i keep them in the fridge so they don't try to mold or anything, i just split them out into individual storage containers so i just grab one each day and eat on the way to work. i usually take the container out of the fridge the night before so i'm not eating them cold because that's a misery tbh.
for the weekend i usually crumble up that day's portion into a bowl and mix in more applesauce and milk so it's a bit of variety.
my friend em doesn't like peanut butter so we talked about ways to replace that for texture, since it helps it hold together in addition to adding protein. obviously another nut butter or sunbutter would be great if you need to eliminate it for allergy reasons. we talked about using cream cheese instead and i tried that this week, that's the batch those pictures are, i used half a 16oz block and still put in a little peanut butter, and honestly it may be the best batch i've made yet.
honestly it just now, as i am editing this for tumblr, occurred to me that you could add an egg or two in place of pb for protein+holding them together. i'm allergic to eggs so i didn't think of it before and i'm not sure how the texture would be but it might be worth a try.
this week's cream cheese variation, baked, with bonus roasted veggies that were in the oven at the same time, sunday is batch cooking in my house cause i never have any energy (or executive function) by the time i get home from work on weekdays.
they really are more of a cookie by shape than anything, the texture is not at all what a traditional cookie would be, but i quite enjoy them. even on the weeks that they don't turn out quite as well, it's something to nibble on the way to work and i'll eat practically anything half awake at 730am if it means i won't be shaking with hunger halfway to lunch. this week they are so good i am really sad when i reach the end of the day's portion and i will for sure be doing cream cheese again.

@baeksseju OKAY SO yesterday morning i forgot to set my alarm clock and woke up at 7:48am instead of… 6:30am KFKSKDKSKSSK and that was MY BAD like i didn’t know and i still don’t know whether i set an alarm or not or if i just forgot like i tend to do. anyway. im gonna call my friend P and my other friend S. so every monday and wednesday morning at 8:30am we have our sociolinguistics class. P & S (whoever of them comes first) (its almost never me) get there and save us the same 3 corner seats in the second last row. i always get the corner most seat bc im the latest one usually UM ANYWAY
so this girl we know from this random amalgamation of people who we hung out with for like 1-2 weeks at the start of the semester started like FUCKING loving P bc like P is really funny and talks shit about people they hate and never replies to messages for several hours (unless its me or her bf or one of our other real friends) <- my theory that these people have anxious attachment style and P ignoring them only makes them want her MORE
P is also kind of a people pleaser in the sense that she’s a fake bitch (HER WORDS ❤️) and even if she dislikes u or hates u or talks mad shit about you YOU WONT FUCKING KNOW BC SHE’LL STILL ACT LIKE UR BEST FRIEND WHEN SHES FORCED TO INTERACT whereas well. i mean in real life at least. the SECOND i start disliking someone… you’ll usually know. WHICH IS A PROBLEM BC THIS ONE GIRL WHO RECENTLY BECAME GIRL I WANNA FUCKING MURDER #1 ON MY HIT LIST. became. convinced. that i fucking hated her. and she was right! but P was working w her on two projects so i had to pretend i didn’t 😭😭 anyway i dodged her attempts to have lunch w me last friday and she hasn’t texted me since. AND we have a theory that C <- codename for my most hated girl in school <- u will feel genuinely murderous if you find out why. Like. KNOWS? we don’t like her anymore? and only communicates w us for school stuff?
BUT THIS OTHER GIRL IN THEIR FRIEND GROUP FOR THE SEMESTER (i genuinely think they will all stop being friends the moment they don’t have classes together) -> lets call her A . like. LOVES P now? so back to what actually happened. SHE WALKED INTO CLASS AT 8:35AM AND FUCKING SAT IN MY SEAT.
when she KNOWS that seat is saved for me.
and well. P and I have this ongoing joke that she’s the fake bitch and i have the biggest fucking balls ever because. i just fucking. say crazy daring shit sometimes. and this other enemy we have, B (trust me she is SO bad that her entire cohort in her year above us GOT HER KICKED OUT OF A CLASS BECAUSE OF HOW AWFUL SHE WAS) got like intimidated by me during a zoom call bc she was bored and started running everything we were all writing through GRAMMARLY when we werent even done writing our part on this PEER REVIEW ASSIGNMENT about another group. and it pissed me off so i told her ‘hey is it okay if you don’t edit my work until i’m done with it? sorry, it’s distracting’ and well she didn’t edit my work at all after that and sounded scared when she talked to me KFKSKD i mean i was TRYING to be nice but well IDK
anyway. because of P’s tiny balls. and also because it all happened so fast. and also because I WASNT THERE TO DEFEND MY FUCKING SEAT. and the fact that i was gonna be so abysmally late there was no point in saving me a seat. P couldn’t really do anything to stop her
BUT DID A KNOW THAT? NO SHE FUCKING DIDNT. i could’ve been there a minute later and i wouldn’t have had A FUCKING SEAT. I DIDNT NEED IT BUT ITS THE PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER .
SO. A started PEEKING AT P’S LAPTOP. and was like who’re u texting?? (me) who’s the trio?? (me S & P) and when she found out P was texting me she smirked and was like ‘tell michelle im sitting in her seat’ and so P texted me that HOPING id get the hint that A was watching (I DID THANKFULLY) and i was like WHAT THE FUCK but i hope you realize the back is BETTER than the front
moving on. A’s reasoning for sitting in my seat was that C sat TOO up front (IT WAS LITERALLY ONE ROW IN FRONT OF WHERE THEY ALLEGEDLY USUALLY SIT ?) and that was like too much for her to handle apparently. anyway. P and C had to consult w the professor for a panel discussion they have to lead on wednesday. so A was like come look for us after for lunch!! <- we didn’t. but does A take the hint? NO! even C had the mind to walk away after the consultation instead of trying to join me P and S. which i now realize. is so. Salt and Pepper. ANYWAY. A keeps texting P!!!! and fucking telling her to sit with her during the next class??????
oh. we have another friend. his name is H. i met him in a cursed group project last year and he saved me during summer when i got sick and missed classes. he’s really sweet and i hope he’s always my friend. ANYWAY. he was gone during all this because his sociolinguistic project group (which B is INNNNNN JFC) insisted on them all eating lunch together. and before they left P was talking to H and B saw and was like Um… are u close to P? during the lunch. and he was like yeah i am what about it. oh right y’all are in a group project for another class right? and B was like yeah… ig P and michelle are kind of hard to work with… like we were supposed to be doing an assignment and they were playing games in class :/ -> WE WEREN’T. also. WE WERE DONE??? WITH WHAT WE NEEDED TO DO? AND THE ASSIGNMENT WAS FARRRRR FROM BEING DUE and i told them. i wasn’t gonna do anything else in class that day because i had a huge test and i was really sleep deprived so any work i did wouldn’t be good. and EVERYONE ELSE WAS FINE WITH THAT. BUT HER????? she claimed to be ‘90% done’ with her bit by the end of class. mf i don’t trust the quality of ur fucking work 😭😭 and finding she was only in our class bc everyone else in the year hated her so much she got HELD BACK was fucking vindicating. like she does fucking nothing but get upset that her non-existent ideas don’t get used only to act like she does everything (WHEN SHE DOESN’T)… other groups in our class were TERRIFIED to get paired w our group for the peer review assigmment BC THEY ALL FUCKING HATE HER
anyway. KFKSKDKSKDKD. we meet H in our second class of the day. we saved a seat for him as we usually do. BUT IT WAS ALSO. ME AND P’S PLAN. to fucking. get seats in the back hidden by a pillar. SO WE DIDNT HAVE TO SIT WITH A. anyway i said ok im gonna be on ur left we are gonna put H on yr right so EVEN IF A MOVES SHE CANT DO SHIT. eventually. A realizes we r all the way at the back and she’s like WTF ARE U DOING THERE? COME HERE? and P had to start fake bitching and wave over and gesture that they should move to US
A starts DMing P. and sends her a video message (a thing on telegram) where her and this other girl r jamming to some song the professor’s playing in class. and P is like oh god… we have to send one back. and she’s like. michelle. you have to fake bitch with me. and i start fake crying and i go I DONT WANNA ☹️☹️☹️ and she’s like YOU HAVE TO… WE NEED TO FAKE BITCH BACK… and i was like okay :(((( and so we sent one back. AND THEY SENT BACK ANOTHER MESSAGE ??? so P was like ok nvm fuck this im not sending another back fuck u
after class. P’s granddad is picking us up (P asked me if i wanted to come with and i was like SURE) and we bump into the girls and A is like . WEIRDLY TOUCHY with P. and im like ????? bc even i don’t touch P like that 😭😭 and we were like um haha bye maybe we’ll sit together in class next time ! and me and P got into the lift WHICH THANKFULLY NO ONE FOLLOWED US INTO. and we were like WHAT THE FUCKKKKK and started pointing middle fingers at her (we are 12) and so we get into the car and i WIND UP HANGING OUT AT HER HOUSE ALL DAY
this is um. the third time ive been there? and today her mom was home and this is the first time im meeting her mom (who LOVES me btw. her grandparents love me too. IM EXCELLENT AT MAKING OLD PEOPLE LOVE ME. or well. old chinese people. im a lot better at P at speaking chinese which helps???? IG???? idk they think me and P are very similar and that im very cute)
the whole time im at P’s house vibing she gets texts from A and well P accidentally told A that theres a test tomorrow (IN 30 MINUTES BABY) its just a small quiz tbh but A was like OMG DO U WANNA STUDY WITH ME????? so P ignored her texts because SHE WOULD RATHER DIE and anyway P walked me to the bus at like 9 something at night… and A asked P for her discord… so P told her but didn’t add her to P’s private server (which im in) and she used her boyfriend as an excuse for not being able to call her <- when i got home me P and her bf hopped into VC together
OH YEAH. UM. P CONVINCED ME TO GO ON A VACATION W HER. AFTER THE SEMESTER ENDS. her bf and we had a bit all day where like bc i was at her house he was like WTF ARE U CHEATING ON ME… and then sent like clown memes fkdkfkskdksdk like he was a clown etc… so i was like im gonna start threatening to fuck u to keep him in line (he lives in malaysia where we are going) MOVING ON. im going for essentially 2 weeks and P’s going for like 3 and afterwards she’s coming back w her bf and we’re gonna hang out AGAIN (we have a dinner reservation together in DECEMBER) <- i booked a ticket next to her and everything
so A in in a discord w C and they have facecams on?,? for some reason. and P claims she has to help her bf w homework bc its due tomorrow (HAHAHAHAHAH) and A gets annoyed and is like… why do you care??? why do u have to help him???? and P is like ???? bc i love him…????? and i was like WTFFFFF hearing this in VC (bc i was showering while it happened) and i told her bf u think i wanna steal ur girl??? she wants to STEAL ur girl from me AND you And he was like wtffffffff WTFFFDDD anyway un

A Critique of Good Omens Season 2 by 4 Random Girls (+ for fun, a rewrite of S2's outline)
Did you feel after watching GOmens S2 with your friends that this season could have been… better?
I was excited for S2 and I had some high expectations due to spoilers (yes, I am the kind of person to seek out spoilers to raise my personal excitement for the show). But after a watch party with some friends that had me gaslighting myself into denying the letdowns of this season (I was going through the first stage of grief okay), I’ve come around a few days later to bring a list of problems, gripes, and some suggestions for improvement for Season 2.
(EDIT: I reposted this bc I originally tagged Mr Gaiman according to my friend's suggestion. That was insensitive of me, I'm sorry. Thanks to the person who commented and knocked some sense into me, even if I did get a severe increase in heart rate and my hands were literally trembling after seeing your comment)
Mr. Gaiman, if you're reading this somehow, please don’t take any of this criticism as a personal attack. Like, you’re a prolific writer, we’re just 4 girls with opinions, so I don't think you'd really need to take much of these words to heart. I know I wouldn't.
And to the fandom, well, if you enjoyed S2, good for you! I enjoyed it too! If you enjoyed it in a way you understood but I didn't, that's fine too! This is just the perspective of like 4 girls on some writing decisions we found kinda weird. We all have opinions, we can express those opinions as long as we're not attacking anyone.
Also, spoilers for S2 of course.
Anyway, let’s get to it shall we, starting with the most controversial of decisions in episode 6!
Controversial reveals in episode 6:
Halo Ex Machina
Like for god’s sake if you wanna pull that out last-minute, at least show it being used in an earlier episode in a flashback from the war
Ineffable Bureaucracy
Aziraphale agreeing to be the Head Archangel to change heaven with Crowley
Ineffable Divorce
More annoying things in S2:
The purpose of the body swap in S1 feels undermined in S2. Like, that was to scare Heaven and Hell into thinking that they’ve grown so powerful that they’ve made their own side. Shouldn’t Heaven and Hell be like, a little more cautious with these two after agreeing to leave them alone?
The Divorce really feels like it’s written solely for the purpose of milking a certain reaction from the audience rather than a natural development for Azicrow’s relationship. Also, with the amount of times these two ‘break up’, it gets boring, okay
Nina and Maggie were just kinda,, there. I’m not quite sure what themes they’re here for, I was lowkey bored anytime they got on screen. Maybe Nina’s abusive relationship mirrors Aziraphale’s relationship with Heaven, but like, idk it’s really not the best mirror. I don’t care about them, okay, they didn’t need to be here and if they did, at least cut down a bit of their time please? The part at the end where they stayed to help was kinda ehhh, the part where they had to tell Crowley about his feelings was even more eh. I’m not sure why they cared so much to tell Crowley about it. I don't hate them, I just wish they could have been written better.
Crowley just waltzing into heaven. In S1 they were undercover and it’s so nervewracking. This time a bunch of demons just see him go up into heaven and don’t even question it. And then a bunch of archangels just come down the lift with him. Like what???
The miracle that hid Gabriel was kinda handwaved away? What was up with that
What was Bee’s plan with storming the bookshop. Wouldn’t that attract a lot of unnecessary attention from the demons and angels? Is discretion not a thing?
They never really explained what was up with Az’s bookshop and the vampire entering rules like???
Angels and demons really do feel like much less of a threat this season somehow
Guess who had “I’ll Follow You Into The Dark” on their playlist? Guess who didn’t follow someone into the dark.
So, I challenged myself to rewrite S2 to make the reveals a little less jarring than them all coming at you one after the other in episode 6 like Voltaire tormenting Candide.
Things we’re building up to:
Aziraphale’s desire to change the way Heaven is run, thus accepting Metatron’s offer
I know the Job episode was a thing, but again, that was only one scenario and not a consistent running theme throughout the season. The Victorian doctors do not count — that’s Aziraphale learning to become more flexible with his morality like Crowley. It doesn’t have anything to do with changing Heaven except maybe showing how much better Crowley is than everyone/j. The magic show definitely doesn’t count.
Also to all those ppl who say that Aziraphale has religious guilt or is going through religious trauma or smth along those lines… idk it feels more like they’re projecting than that being an actual thing shown by the show. If that was the intention, it doesn’t come across like it well enough
It might be believable that Az’s indoctrination by Heaven might cause him to think that being in charge would improve things, but like,, that needs to be actually shown in the show. Show us his doubts after the end of the world. Give us better foreshadowing of his concerns over the past 6000 years, how he’s seen Crowley struggle with being a demon/how he imagines being a demon is like/how heaven has indoctrinated him. Otherwise it’s like he’s learnt nothing over these past 6000 years!
Gabe and Bee’s relationship
This really suffers by being revealed only at the end because the way they act seems suddenly out of character of how we expect them to. We’re all left kinda unsure if they’re actually in love or even know what love is.
An earlier reveal of their relationship and maybe some Bee/Jim interactions in earlier episodes would help with a more gradual acceptance of expectations vs reality
Also, would it kill to have one close-up of the fly? Or even like, Aziraphale swatting the fly away as it flies into his face when he opens the box? That thing is so tiny it’s no wonder it’s so easily missed. Please, I’m myopic
Divorce
I want Crowley to snap so bad at Aziraphale. And with better dialogue than “no nightingales”. I know it’s a reference, but surely we can do better than this!
Aziraphale really caught the idiot ball this season in the most narratively unsatisfying way, and if it weren’t for Michael Sheen playing him it would be even more annoying.
What can we cut from S2?

The whole storming the bookshop thing. What was Bee’s plan really
The angel-demon miracle. The damn thing was what attracted heaven’s attention anyway and in the end it was just handwaved away? Let’s toss it out, and by extension, we’ll have to toss out… (checks notes) the Archangels’ visit to the bookshop, lying about getting Nina and Maggie together and the further matchmaking attempts for them, Constable Muriel, Shax’s storming of the bookshop, and god knows what else.

My cataloguing if shit I never noticed or forgot from season 1 of Stranger Things. I’m on episode 3 of my rewatch!
1.) I forgot Nancy heard Barb for a moment during the make out session
2.) forgot Barb screamed for Nancy as she died. Also I’m keeping my eye out to see if the show actually has the characters know she died in the pool because fanfic insists they know but I don’t remember that being confirmed to Steve or Nancy
3.) Karen Wheeler really is trying to be a good mom
4.) I forgot Joyce starts with all the lamps in the house
5.) I think the reason people fell in love with Steve, including myself, is despite being called a douchebag by other characters, I can’t think of a time he’s randomly doychey or a bully in this season
6.) hopper was like mostly mild mannered and charming at this point. Like obvious self destructive behaviors but idk he’s quieter than I remember him
7.) dog spotted again. Seriously how did I forget their damn dog????
8.) ‘staying one step ahead of the Russians’ got said as a quick line
9.) I forgot the super secret lab couldn’t be bothered to pull footage with rain for a night that rained. Like surely you could have edited like 5 minutes out of the actual night, right? It didn’t take El all night to enter a damn tunnel
10.) people talk about Steve being rich and he is but the Wheelers are definitely solidly middle class. Nancy has her own phone and her own tv in her room
11.) carol had a mark in her ankle that she thinks is frostbite even though the pool is heated
12.) I know he doesn’t have a personal dark room but I forgot he develops the stalker photos at school and a classmate sees them and is visibly uncomfortable
13.) aw Karen brought Joyce a casserole. I forgot about that

New life action fma trailer just dropped how are we feeling
yUP I saw it right when it dropped at 11 hahaha - the twitter teaser that was posted weeks ago was clearly for either another live action Or a scar based light novel and I'm glad I won the bet for what it'd be
the obvious and main highlight is of course ling and lan fan making appearances - my main compliment to the live action is costumes look good and I'm glad they're keeping some of the fight scenes! idk why everyone's fighting envy on a train but at least lan fan gets to keep her grenades so no complaints there - also the actors look good I'm excited to see how they perform (given how these films are famously over-acted should be entertaining haha)
Moving on the REAL fun discussion about these live actions is figuring out What Will They Change This Time!
Last live action we had a whole slew of fun features and edits such as Tucker surviving and creating the Mannequin army that attacks East Command out of literally nowhere, so I'm looking forwards to puzzling out what they're gonna chop and screw in the sequel! since there are gonna be 2 movies that's maybe 4 hours to fill out roughly 17 hours of content in a series that is famously light on filler you know it's gonna be fun
and since the time is ripe to place bets I'm gonna go ahead and make some predictions let's see:
og greed does not exist in these films At All and only randomly shows up halfway in so we get greedling - any context for his backstory/how he gets memories back is relegated to other characters randomly mentioning it over the course of like 2 sentences before moving on
Lan Fan looses her arm but there isn't a long time skip before she comes back, that or she's written out of the finale entirely
in fact there's no 6 month time skip at all the whole plot takes place over the course of like 3 days
Fu, Yoki, Barry, and the human chimera do not exist
They didn't have the budget for a little panda so Xiao Mei is either missing or a sock puppet
for some reason scar's fight with bradley is on a rooftop
ling and lan fan were chasing envy to catch them and ran into ed on the roof of the train which is how they all met
The entire ishvalen war sequence is a series of individual flashbacks from the pov of each involved character and is a cumulative 5 minutes long
someone says scar's actual name in the flashback and it's a whole thing
roy never confronts bradley directly everyone just figures out he's evil on their own and goes straight into planning the coup
roy killing envy happens way before the finale and also takes place in a random street in the city
for the finale everyone splits up to fight the evil characters one on one at the same time and the fights are cut between constantly - the armstrong's versus sloth doesn't exist instead they help fight bradley
Izumi only appears during the finale purely so she's around as the 5th sacrifice, and her only interaction with the primary cast is ed and/or al turning to her and saying "Teacher?!?" with a baffled expression and her saying "Housewife!"
the fight with father takes place in the underground area
Tucker shows up again with more mannequins cause why not
Nina survives by proxy of not being killed by scar in the first movie and never being mentioned again

Answering Asks Until the Labeled Sequel is Rewritten
What is this?
I am officially moving into the rewrite stage of the Labeled Sequel tonight. I’m not proofreading which I would use the proofreading story for. This is much more involved and I don’t want to stop every 20 minutes and write stuff in a different universe. That would mess me up. Instead, I plan to answer an ask from this ask game every time I write 500 words. There isn’t really a time restraint. The goal is to answer 1-5 asks a day which would take half a month to edit, but I am still ill and working on a dissertation, so I’m going to estimate a month.
What are the rules?
Simple! Select one thing from each category and send them as an ask. I will answer them in the order they come in, except when multiple from one person comes through. I will bump those to the bottom of the list so everyone who asks gets at least one answered in a (relatively) timely manner. That being said, I strong encourage you to send more than one! (pls) If I end up with too many... well... I also have to proofread after this. If I don’t end up with enough, I’ll just random number generate at every 500 words.

WIP Wednesday
Whoa, it’s been a hot minute since I did one of these! I have been working on so many random fics, like... SO MANY, but my heart is still with my LOZ pirates in Through Hell or High Water.
So here’s a scene I cut from this next chapter. It was supposed to happen right after something ELSE that no longer happens in any way, shape, or form! Admittedly, I do keep pulling pieces from it, and this scene itself might make it in at some point in a different way so I’m not going to give the details just in case, but it’s a tumblr bonus, I guess, because it’s WIP Wednesday. Idk. Just take it and we’ll see if this scene appears ever again!
Also, if you forgot what happened in the last chapter (like I did, because the hiatus I went on for this fic was pretty long), then HERE, remember Chapter 5 before I finish editing Ch. 6! ☠ This is irrelevant to this WIP, it’s just self promotion while I’m here lol.

Zelda watched Link curiously, still hovering unnoticed from the doorway she hid in. He looked so… calm. So peaceful. She was sure his eyes were closed, his head was tilted up into the rain, and he barely looked cold despite the night breeze that mixed with the downpour.
He was downright drenched.
His hair was matted against his face, strands uncomfortably hanging over his eyes, tangling in his lashes. And he hadn’t a care in the world about it. Reflexively, Zelda pushed her own hair back.
She leaned further into the doorframe as she looked him over closely. He was an arm’s length away, but somehow, that was enough to curb all the rain in his direction. Rain dripped over his lips and his eyebrows. Occasionally, his eyelid twitched, or his tongue darted out, but he seemed otherwise unbothered.
His black shirt was just absolutely stuck to his skin, and Zelda praised the Goddess that it was not white like most of his others, or she’d be struggling to focus. His arms were crossed, and his ankles locked together.
Was he… asleep?
There was no way he was sleeping in this storm.
“Do you need something?” he mumbled, though it was rough and raw and tired. Goddess, he had been asleep, hadn’t he?
“How did you know I was here?” she asked, leaning against the other side of the door. Though the wind wasn’t blowing at her, she felt the spray of the rain tickle her face
“You’re a loud thinker; I can hear it from here.”
“What am I thinking about, then?” she asked smugly, crossing her arms before she realized she was starting to imitate his pose. She ran her hand along her skirt several times instead.
“Me.”
Zelda scoffed. “You’d make a good scam fortune-teller, Mr. Woods. Your vague answers would satisfy many. Of course, I’m thinking about you: you’re sitting in a monsoon.”
“Mainlanders,” he chuckled. “This weather isn’t that bad.”
“Pirates,” she snapped back. “Always think they’re better than every form of water. If you get struck by lightening, Mr. Woods, I will say I told you so.”
“Afraid of getting wet, Miss Nohansen?”
He finally opened his eyes and turned to her. He looked tired, but there was still a mischievous glint in there, teasing her. He beckoned to the spot beside him: a challenge as much as anything.
Zelda stared out at the swaying trees, remembering when she was younger and her father still lived with her in Hyrule. She remembered the rain and storms. She’d tried to splash in a puddle once, and suddenly her wrist flared with phantom pain at the memory of her father dragging her inside, reaming her out for frivolous and dangerous behavior. After that, she spent storms indoors, and had always sought to get out of the rain as soon as possible.
Squaring her shoulders, she headed outside and walked past Link.
She could feel his curious eyes on her; he didn’t think she’d take his bait, and he didn’t have a response for when she did.
The rain beat down, the wind chilled it. As it hit her face, she felt uncomfortable at first and wiped it away. But then she pictured Link’s calm expression, and she tilted her head into the downpour. The trees helped the rain fall harder as streams of droplets rolled off leaves before falling to the ground, but Zelda kept her head up for all of it, letting the water wash over her, like a cleanse. It was soaking through her clothes; it was drenching her hair.
Zelda felt a giggle start to bubble in her chest, surfacing in bursts. She pulled a pin from her hair and let it all fall to her shoulders, giant strands sticking to her wet cheeks. Zelda refused to move it away.
She turned around and frantically searched the ground. And finally, she found a puddle large enough for her to kick her foot through, drenching her stockings and shoe. But she found herself laughing harder, enjoying herself more than she should have. The Goddess would be frowning now for her indulgence in frivolity.
What else would the Goddess disapprove of?
Zelda turned to Link.
He was watching her with a smile on his lips. Nothing else about him had moved, and Zelda had enough of him sitting in the rain. She bounded over to him, her lips and teeth bouncing off each other, her body shivering in the cold wind. “You look tired, Mr. Woods.”
“You look cold.”
“I am.”
“Do you want a jacket or a blanket from inside? I’ll grab it.”
Zelda shook her head frantically. “No! No, I never get to feel. And I like it!” She laughed again and leaned beside him. “Get up; it’ll wake you.”
“What if I want to sleep?”
Zelda’s eyes glistened as they narrowed. “Did you have another long night?”
His head suddenly came to attention. “Are you… teasing me?”
“Am I not allowed to tease a pirate?”
Link was awake now as he stared at her. “I’m just surprised. You know what I did last night and you’re lighthearted about it?”
“What you do in your personal time is your business. And if you want to sell your soul to Demise and indulge in all the pleasures of the world, who am I to stop you?”
She meant it sincerely, but she couldn’t help the bite that came with her words.
Link nodded and pulled at the chain around his neck, exposing the Goddess’ symbol. He licked his lip again to get the rainwater off, and Zelda’s attention shifted to the large scar that went over his mouth as he spoke. “That’s not my view. It’s not the view of many on this island. I believe the Goddess suffered so we can live.” He pointed to the puddle. “She’d want you to have all the self-indulgent fun in the world. She did it for us.”
Zelda didn’t realize how close she’d moved to him until she noticed that there was a casual spattering of freckles on Link’s face. She’d been so preoccupied with the scar that she’d never even noticed.
“Are you not concerned for your soul, Mr. Woods?”
“Are you concerned for mine?”
Zelda pulled away and shrugged, shivering again. “I’m concerned for everyone’s.”
He stood then, hopping down from his resting place with ease and joining Zelda’s side. He still played with the chain. “The way I see it, I haven’t ‘sold my soul.’ I might be a gambler, Miss Nohansen, but my soul is a hell of a gamble to be willing to lose. As someone who likely will never make it into their forties, and luck be it I’ll at least see thirty, I’d like to have a notion of where my soul will inevitably end up. Even I want to meet the Goddess someday.”
“You kill people,” Zelda whispered as Link fell into step beside her. They were walking, but neither had any destination in mind. Just walking though the rainstorm.
“The Goddess and her knight did, too. Always with reason.”
Zelda’s hand gestured vaguely to the beach, to the encounter yesterday with the other crew. “They had families. Parents, grandparents, siblings, children, spouses. You took someone from their family. Several someone’s.”
He smiled thoughtfully, though she couldn’t tell if it were genuine or rueful. “Are you sympathizing with those pirates? I thought we were all just monsters to you.”

how to make weirdcore on photoshop!! :D
i got a great ask from @demonic-screeching about how i do my shit, so i thought id make a more detailed post here! ive been making wierdcore on this blog since january 2021, so ive learnt a lot! more under the cut.
1. find a base image!! i use imgur and pinterest. imgur is especially great because its full of old ass images of the most random shit. you dont even need an account, just hop in and search for mundane stuff like 'hallway', 'field', 'house', etc! explore! screenshot/save any images you think would be cool in an edit- make your own personal archive!! they could even be stills from videos, memes, etc!
2. cropping! this is important. cropping determines the amount of context an image has, as well as focusing on a main point. weirdcore is about removing context, which makes images seem familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. it also adds to the amateur quality of the aesthetic- "why has this person taken this weirdly specific photo?" 99% of the time they didnt! i just cropped the shit out of it!
lets use an example of one of my old edits :) cool concept, cool base image. but it seems like its missing something.... what if we........
cropped it all out????
it is now....... free of context! where are we? where are we going???? who fuckin knows man...... we just gotta gtfo real quick by the sounds of it. the cropping has also compressed the image, which makes it feel even more weird and nostalgic! which brings me to my next point:
3. compression. make sure ur edits are lookin cRUNCHY! weirdcore is about amateurism and nostalgia, so use any means to make ur photos look like theyre from 2003! my personal method is zooming out of the image on photoshop so it gets smaller, then screensotting just the image, then opening the screenshot up in another document and zooming in again to reveal the compression.
4. fonts and captions! these are not necessary, but add to an edit a great deal! common fonts in weirdcore are Helvetica, Arial, and Times New Roman because theyre Normal And Boring, which really adds to the amateur aspect of weirdcore. i like to experiment with gothic and 3D fonts which can give a more webcore-y feel. this site is great for making free 3D text that you can download and add to your edits in photoshop!
as for captions, experiment! use random phrases that are stuck in your head, the more abstract the better! weirdcore is a surprisingly good way to express weird and abstract feelings. keep things vague and intriguing. ask questions!
5. editing. again, experiment! i normally fiddle with the saturation, brightness, and contrast. don't max out every setting- try and think about how you want the image to look! light or dark? bright or dull? you dont always have to tweak things if you think theyre fine as they are. other good tools include liquify, bevel/emboss, smart sharpen, gaussian blur, and warp! liquify is my favourite because you can squish and stretch the image! you can also try warping your captions too! the blemish tool is also rlly good! it can give u some weird trippy blurred out effects.
clone stamping can also help you to morph and duplicate parts of the image too! its very cool
6. go insane!!!!!!!! throw all basic design principles out the window. ignore the rule of thirds. stretch things. make them crunchy ass jpgs. use horrible colours. think about what youd do if you were a child with access to photoshop in 1997, or a middle aged conspiracy theorist making images for their cryptid blog. or like idk some weirdo on myspace.
7. orbs. use the brush tool to make orbs! theyre really good for blocking parts of an image, adding an ominous presence, making shadows, or adding bright lights! shape them, stretch them, make them funny colours. you could also use rectangles, circles, stars, etc... any shapes are cool!
8. inspiration! follow weirdcore blogs on tumblr! ask questions! learn! other resources include the weirdcore wiki and the weirdcord discord server! its where i learned a lot of what i know now, its very active, and has tons more resources there!!
overall, just experiment. you never know until you try, and its fun to develop your personal weirdcore style! its a very broad aesthetic that everyone can contribute to, and a cool outlet!
and lastly, dont worry about followers and likes! online, weirdcore is very random. some of my edits i spent 4378294 years on get like 5 notes, while i can shit something out in 5 minutes that ends up becoming my top post. popularity is pretty irrelevant here. just have fun and do things your own way!

I’ve only watched the first five minutes of episode 1 of The Owl House but this is what I came up with:

I mean, I bet in Canon the land of witches of fine, but in Luz’s first few seconds there she saw what looked like several people get eaten so I thought 'Ooo! Cool dystopia wourldbuilding opportunity!'

Then there’s a fire, just a small one, and for a few moments there’s the adrenaline of her life being in danger again. And Luz discovers for certain that she’ll pick the scintillating draw of adventure over safety hands down. Episode 2. You know those illusions that reflect exactly your desires and thoughts back at you in order to trap you? The wizard/quest/whole thing in episode 2 is one of those. It can only draw from one person at a time which is why King sees Luz’s reflected world.

Episode 2 AU. Taken seriously. The quest in episode 2 is real, and I re-write it to be more in-depth and whatever the adventure version of slowburn is.

Episode 2 AU. Just like puppeteer tried to trap Luz within himself, Neveroth is a person he did trap. Luz rescues him before bonking the puppeteer with a sword one last time, now she has a gay wingman who needs some reintroduction to society and some help getting over his trauma and possibly depression that got him trapped there in the first place.

Fic Writer Review!

565,934 EXCUSE ME WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I was going to check my unpublished works but ya know what. Maybe I've written enough akdjsa
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Technically speaking, I've written and published fics for five fandoms. However, I only have one story for OUAT (and I have @shadowdianne to thank for that... or do I?) and one for Captain Marvel. Mirandy was my first love, Cissamione the second, and Supercorp has burrowed in my brain and just won't let go.
I've also technically written for Xena, Legend of Korra, and Criminal Minds, but since I never published those, we're going to pretend they don't exist!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Only two are WIPs! YEAH! They're the top two, but WHO CARES, here they are:
1) Perhaps, aka my baby, my child, my darling, the apple of my eye. If I ever had to choose to finish only ONE of my WIPs, this would be the one. This story has grown with me, and I think you can tell when you read. Or maybe not!
2) For the Better. If the former is my baby, this one is like... my moody teenager. I love it dearly, but... it takes a lot out of me. An ode to one of the first fandoms I actively wrote for, it sits unfinished, but nearly, oh so nearly done. I will finish it, damn ittt.
3) The Date. Honestly, this one really surprised me -- it's one of my oldest one-shots, and something I definitely dashed off between lectures back in Scotland, maybe alternating with FtB chapters. It's one of my first attempts at humour, I think.
4) Bits and Pieces. AYY, I wasn't sure Supercorp would make the cut, WOOOT! This one was the second Supercorp fic I ever wrote, and I did it because Lena Is Baby and the idea just wouldn't leave my brain.
And lastly, the fabulous number 5... Perfect. AKA Nara's First (published) Explicit Fic, featuring Praise Kink and an Enchanted Dildo (for... reasons). I'm not gonna lie, I am so HAPPY this one made it, because it has a special place in my heart. It's where Soft Butch Hermione comes to life, and if you don't love Soft Butch Hermione, I'm sorry, we can't be friends. I love her.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Eeermmm... some? I do want to respond, but I'm terrible with keeping up with comments, I really am. For whatever reason, even when I do my best, I don't really love responding directly on AO3. I also turned off all email notifications for AO3 because turns out my brain WILL be distracted by even a single one.
I'm much more responsive on Tumblr, I promise!
6. A fic you've written with the angstiest ending:
Any of my Narlily works, I guess? Like... All Flowers Wither or Carry On.
Unshackled would be another one, though it's Cissamione... but I caved and made a happy(ish) second part for that one.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nope! Crossovers just don't do it for me, generally speaking (reading or writing).
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
EvEr rEcEIvEd hAtE-- yes. Oh, yes. I've been told my writing is terrible, I've been told my stories were a 'waste of time,' or 'overhyped,' I've had people tell me there was only One Way to write a certain pairing and my way was definitely Not The Way.
The list goes on.
It used to really, really bother me--still does, but in a much smaller way. Delete/Block buttons are my friends.
9. Do you write smut?
I write an absurd amount of smut. I just don't publish any of it because. Fear.
My pretty, pretty pens have created some filthy, filthy things.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A couple of times -- only once or twice like, straight up attributed to someone else who acted like they were the one writing it. The other times were reposts or translations (without my permission, so still. stolen).
11. Ever had a fic translated?
I've authorized a couple of translations of a few of my DWP works. I'm usually cool with people translating my stuff IF THEY ASK ME FIRST and GIVE ME PROPER CREDIT.
9/10 it's some Brazilian who translates it to Portuguese without my permission and then gets upset when I, another Brazilian, do not endorse it and politely ask them to take the thing down. Thankfully it's been a while. ASK ME, DAMN IT.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?

13. All-time favourite ship?
Right now SuperCorp is definitely barking a little louder, so to speak, but I don't really have one favourite overall. It depends on the fandom, sometimes! Cissamione is very dear to my heart, because it's just so fucking out there and literally every one in this ship has some of the most fascinating headcanons for this pairing and it's just. So wonderful.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
Eeeeuuughhh.... Right now? Probably The Appraisal. I forget what I wanted to do with it, I'm not sure if I'm still feeling the premise... IDK.
I think the same could be said of For the Better, but I PROMISED to finish it, and GOD DAMN IT, I am so close I can't throw in the towel just yet.
15. Writing strengths?
You want ME to say good things about MYSELF? I'm still learning how to do that asldkjbasdn it's a work in progress. But I think I'd say... maybe world-building, at least on my longer works?
I would also like to think I do pretty OK in... IDK, some of the punchy stuff? The 'oh wait a minute' moment? IDK if that makes sense!
16. Writing weaknesses?
Organizing. Plot (HAHA IKR). Consistency. Editing (which is rich from someone who literally edits shit for a living... but go figure). Pacing. Weirdly long sentences? Commas for DAYS.
I could go on.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I am a-OK attempting it in French/Spanish/Portuguese. It may not sound natural, but it will be correct. If I'm trying another language, I'll definitely get help! But I've got no problem with it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Harry Potter, Dramione specifically, and you'll never find a shred of it. I was like 12, and almost a decade later I figured out Hermione was much better off with Draco's mother.
19. What's your fav fic you've written so far?

I mean, obviously Perhaps is one of them -- it is my baby, that has been established. I think Little Bumps in the Road is also up there, because it was just a random writing exercise that got out of hand, and honestly? I'm here for it. Andddd.... I GUESS I'll put A Valentine's Evening up there as well, because it was the first time I didn't second guess every word I wrote when posting smut. I just... felt it, went for it, wrote it, and it felt really, really good to release some of that into the world lol

okay i'm already procrastinating and i don't plan on sleeping any time soon so here we go.

i think it's going to be pretty similar to @dukeofonions' but let's see if i find something new to contribute haha. i see you didn't include that one about Patton in the Big Game or whatever, so i'm not including it either xd. also i think i'm going to count Accepting Anxiety as one episode only.
edit: i finished and now i dare you to drink a shot of water every time i say the word spanish or a version of the word comfort and become very well hydrated.
#16 I'm in a Disney Show
(i agree with dukeofonions here) i always forget this episode exists. it was ok in terms of being happy for real life Thomas but as a Sanders Sides episode it didn't do anything. the sides were just giving their opinions but it wasn't very funny or interesting. also i'm bitter because it made me look up the episode he was in and i didn't like it at all. i don't know if i'm too old for those Disney shows now but Thomas was literally the only good part of it, everything else was really dull and boring imo. a waste of time.
however, Logan supporting clickbait is one of the funniest things ever, and i'll never forget it.
#15 Becoming A Cartoon
i didn't hate this episode but it was just .. meh.. you know? several factors contribute to this. one, i couldn't feel much nostalgia for Butch Hartman's shows because i watched them in Spanish, and everything feels really weird when they speak English, i don't like how my old cartoons sound in English. two, it was disappointing to me because we were all desperately waiting for Plot™ and instead they give us this short episode about nothing (oh how the tables have turned now it's the other way around haha). and three, i didn't like the style of the animation :/ their faces and expressions freaked me out, Roman's douchey face still haunts me.
#14 Way Too Adult
here i'm biased because i don't like Patton much, and i didn't back when i watched the series the first time either, so this video was a little disappointingwithout the rest. also it wasn't relatable to me because i am still too young and dependent on my parents haha. but Patton is funny and it's funny to laugh at Thomas' struggling.
#13 The Dark Side of Disney
i've never been a fan of Disney movies. i actually never watched Mulan or the Lion King or Aladdin as a kid, so meh. i liked the ending, though, it was cool to see Virgil have fun and be right for once. it does make me a bit uncomfortable because the way Thomas tries too hard with Virgil's mouth movements and his low voice reminds me of a guy that had made me v uncomfortable not long before watching that video. so an icky feel overall.
#12 A New Year of Lying to Myself
this video was actually kind of fogettable to me. i had a hard time connecting the voices in the song to the characters and idk. i don't love it nor hate it, just .. neutral.
#11 My True Identity
pretty much the same opinion as dukeofonions, again. it's a good introduction and it's good that it was the beginning of it all but on its own it's not very special. i think it's awesome on Thomas to have come up with such a clever idea, like choosing the dad, the teacher and the prince and putting them together and match them with thoughts?? that fit so perfectly?? it really is just very impressive when you think about it, that it was just a random idea he had for a short 5 minute video.

i liked this video a lot because when i watched it i had recently been a lot on tumblr, and found out through relatable posts that i had anxiety. so watching this video was really fun and it made me happy to feel so seen, specially the intro when Thomas just talks about what it's like to have Anxiety and Virgil is so smug about it.

#9 Growing Up
once more, Patton isn't my favorite. so that's why i'm putting this here, plus the echo at the end askjhsahg, but i love love this video. i remember we were waiting and oh so ready for the angst of nobody taking Patton seriously. and we received!! i love that though Roman and Logan are antagonists here, they're both so happy about Thomas wanting to have a healthy life. and i just adore the way Logan admits his mistake at the end and asks Patton directly. my heart... also aw.. the nostalgia. i remember none of us knew how to spell Patton's name and were writing it in very funny ways until Thomas and Joan told us lol.
#8 The Mind vs The Heart
when i watched this video the first times i didn't like it much, because i only had eyes for Virgil, but later i came back to it and loved it. so taking that into account i'm putting it here. logicality was the first ship i ever shipped in the show because i saw a gifset on tumblr of Patton screaming "what do you know about love?!" and Logan "apparently more than YOU" and the caption said "MARRIED", and i thought hey yeah... anyway. i love them. they're both my dads since that day.
this video is so so so relatable and i love it. Logan and Patton are so much fun arguing and i love how they compromise at the end and work together. im reconsidering.. i might move it higher? no, fine i'll leave it here.
#7 Making Some Changes
this video was absolutely hilarious. i personally couldn't see it as the Sides still once they were acted by Thomas' friends, i enjoyed it more as that bunch being silly and trying to be the sides but failing in so many ways, while sometimes nailing stuff suddenly. i really don't take this one too seriously as an episode. except Joan!Logan and Valerie!Logan, my beloved... i love how Joan acted as Logan and their voice and that they kept their ace ring on.. there's a reason i had them as my icon for so long. and Valerie looks a bit (a lot) like me with the glasses and dressed in dark colors, plus she spoke Spanish and there's .. no words to describe the joy i felt when seeing/hearing that. wait i'm getting emotional...
#6 My Personality Q&A
when i watched this Virgil was my favorite side and i didn't care much about the rest lol. when i heard his answers i related to him SO much it was scary, and also his voice is so soft and it was all very comforting. it was also when i first starting looking at Logan with more attention, because when he brought up Big Hero 6 and Fall Out Boy and said he didn't sing and would recite it like a poem? it only took a couple seconds but my brain said "me" and never went back.
now this video is a little underwhelming to watch for me, most of the appeal for me was in finding out the answers, and also watching it when we didn't know a lot about the sides. now we know more and want to know more so it's not as fun to me as it was first.
i wish so bad they'd do another one, although i know it would be more difficult with a much bigger audience, i think they can manage and i just need it. the chaos.. the energy.. they all being so savage with each other, learning little random facts about them you didn't expect.. i need it.

#5 Alone on Valentines Day
i love Valerie, and the idea of this video was perfect and so perfectly excecuted. every side just giving their crazy opinions on how to woo a random stranger, i laughed SO much. first with Logan speaking simlish out of nowhere? at that point i didn't know practically anything about the sims except that it was some video game and the whiplash of Logan going AYO and the rest killed me. then when Roman whipped out that dialogue in Spanish??? my life was completed. i've never felt more happy than i did in that moment gosh. just the hilarity of Roman's drama, the shock of them speaking Spanish suddenly like that, the absolute JOY of seeing a creator i like speak (may i say) perfect Spanish, the other characters' faces after that.. never been happier.
also the conclusion was so cute. Virgil solving the whole problem without wanting to. i loved it.
#4 Am I Original
i think this video speaks for itself. it was fun to watch them all do the ideas Roman had, plus Logan and Virgil nodding at each other, (i love them so much), plus the angst at the end of Roman's perfectionism, plus Roman's just perfect name. this video has it all.
i think Thomas posted it kind of late at night and i watched it at 7am in the classroom as i waited for my classmates to arrive and the class to start. (i usually was like 40 minutes early to school due to mom’s work). i had to contain my laughter and it wasn’t easy.
#3 Losing My Motivation
i started loving this video after a while, when Logan passed Virgil in the position for my favorite side. but once he did this episode was beautiful. it's so funny and i love Logan and Patton's dynamic so much. and the video also so damn relatable in general. i felt so seen with it because they named all the problems i have when procrastinating, down to Patton's vague explanation of his feelings, it's exactly how i feel every time i want to do stuff. and the plot twist! i can hear the dramatic sound effect and see how they all turn to Logan clearly in my head, and it always makes me smile. plus there's so much Logan angst that can be dug up and overanalized. i love to watch it over and over.
#2 Accepting Anxiety
this video was perfect. everything we wanted. we knew it was coming and it delivered perfectly, better than any fanfic done in the waiting time. the week between the parts was agonizing but in a fun way somehow. i remember precisely when i was watching part 2 in my living room. i screamed. and i cried, a lot. i was feeling terrible at that time in my life and Thomas was such a comforting presence and i can't begin to describe how this episode made me feel.
and later it is always fun to rewatch with all their different reactions to being in Virgil's room, the energy of that was on point. Thomas is such a great actor and the characters where just amazingly performed. plus it gave so much to talk adn think about, the idea of the rooms, lots lots of insight into the characters, foreshadowing, so much. it's just perfect i have nothing else to say.
#1 (for purely emotional reasons, ironically) My Negative Thinking
i think Accepting Anxiety is the best episode of the season objectively but my favorite is My Negative Thinking. because i love Virgil and Logan so much and seeing them argue together was and is great. the comfort.. i can't repeat that word enough throughout this post. it's such a soft video while not being overwhelming with Patton and Roman's outbursts. just quiet (mostly) and clear and with perfectly timed humour.
Logan my beloved.. learning spanish... helping me with my own anxiety.. and their debate was so good. and the fact that they were friends i- i can't. Virgil didn't think Logan liked him and Logan told him explicitly that he did and the casual softness of it i cant even. Logan is happy that he tried.. it's just marvelous. Virgil and Logan as best friends will always be my favorite pair, and their dynamic will always be what i strive for in any relationship i might form, with both sides silently comforting each other within their own limits and realistic perspectives. so nice.

The terrible power of YouTube Algorithm
I’m sure there’s been more in-depth studies / commentary on this, but here’s my personal experience:
I’m not a “youtuber”. I upload a few videos here and there, mostly my music production attempts, or drone footage, both of which have 3-10 views per video, and I’m OK with that.
Recently, I uploaded two videos and got tens of thousands of views with zero effort. Kinda.
The First Video is 2.5 seconds long, and is just a moderately famous youtube video essayist / pop culture commentator saying a funny thing, and then me adding a funny video description. I got a few big things going on for me:
1. it’s short - people see it and are more likely to click it
2. it’s a shitpost - again, people can see it from a distance
3. it’s someone popular, which is clearly visible from the thumbnail, if you know the person
4. it’s about a popular franchise, which has a few million fans (or former fans)
The Second Video is me spending 6 hours cutting and editing footage from the same youtuber into a 2 minute chaotic, random, semi-funny montage. I found it hilarious and I’m somewhat “proud” of it, as much as you can be proud of a shitpost with 100% of the content ripped of from another creator.
Anyway, at this moment, the first video has over 51000 views, the second about 1800. The views, at first, were about 100-200 a day for the 1st, and about 10 for the latter.
When The Author noticed the first video, the views bumped to 300-550 a day. Some were from her Tumblr, but most of them were still from The YouTube Algorithm. Then it started dying down, and then it jumped up to 5000-6000 views a day. (Currently it’s going down again to 1k-2k, as expected.)
The second video, thanks to my lack of tact, got sent to The Author right away, which got me about 300-400 views instantly, and then again about 100-200 a day from a mix of youtube’s recommendations and other links.
The “effortless” 2-second video had a click-through rate 5 ~ 28%. Five to twenty-eight percent. This is without me doing anything - not touching the thumbnail or title. Depending on who, when and where youtube showed it to, about 5%, or about 28% of people clicked the thumbnail and watched the video. 250′000 people were shown the thumbnail. 94.8% of all views are from that.
The “effortful” 2-minute video has a click-through rate from 3.7% to 10.1%. Here I tried fussing with the title like every other day, and maybe it had some effect, but it’s hard to say with “only” 5200 impressions; only about 270 of them came from youtube’s recommendations, and 2/3 of all views were from “external” source, mostly Twitter (again, The Author actually posted the link).

Anyway, all this is to say that it’s utterly demotivating that someone like sub.media spends tens of hours making a documentary and get 700 views, creators spend dozens and hundreds of hours hand-crafting videos about topics they care about, but without a marketing budget, and they’re utterly at the mercy of 1. youtube 2. getting viral 3. favors from people with a platform 4. obsessively tuning the title/thumbnail 5. twisting their spine to make their content more clickbaity, more popular, more meme-friendly, more controversial yet agreeable 6. keeping producing until they gain enough momentum that the older videos will get more views (and maybe more exposure by youtube, again)
And, idk
I always knew it’s bad, but seeing more closely how what we see is controlled by faceless corpos and even more faceless, spineless algorithms... it’s bleak.
