ive been thinking about the problems with the nate/jade storyline and i was going to wait until it wrapped up to express my thoughts but i fear i will forget what i wanna say so if the the storyline goes a different way i will happily eat my words. but i feel like their relationship is just more proof of how the show is written and told with such an obvious white lens. like i've seen a few people mention that it's weird to push a relationship between nate and the girl who seemed to be racist towards him and i agree EXCEPT for the fact that i don't think the writers even thought that that's what they were doing because they didn't even register that writing a white character being completely rude for no reason to a brown character would read as racism to their non white viewers. it also brings me back to the episode where rebecca and keeley are trying to help nate stand up to jade and he tells rebecca something like "I'm not like you, I can't just go in and demand respect" and she says something along the lines of "do you know how hard it is to demand respect as a woman in rooms filled with men?" and it's supposed to be this huge feminist message which it would've been had the race factor not been there. and i think the ted lasso writers just legitimately do not see the race factor and that's why the storyline has been simplified into a basic "he just needs confidence" message

thinking about lucius as the personification of stede’s consciousness and feelings, as stede’s narrative mirror. how they both have very similar sideburns, wear little neckties/cravats, stede dresses them both in the matching white outfits but lucius is the one who ends up a bloody mess, how lucius writes down all of stede’s inner monologues and he’s the only one who also reads from stede’s library, how lucius has the proof that stede is a proper pirate and it’s what allows him to stay alive, how lucius comforts stede when ed leaves with jack, how lucius is the one that ed seeks out for a heart-to-heart when stede is no longer an option, and of course how lucius is the one thrown overboard because he’s too close, he understands too much, he very bluntly called out how much they liked each other and never pretended it was anything else. he gets rid of his heart (the silk) and then he gets rid of the representation of stede’s voice, his feelings, his sexuality. he’s stede’s compass or navigator of sorts. lucius is stede’s emotional awareness, he sees what takes stede a little longer to see, and he looks out for him even if, at first, his feelings (lucius) were ready to turn on him (the mutiny in the pilot). stede is always ready to punish himself, after all. apt that his mirror should.
also worth mentioning how lucius is openly gay now but says his mum thought he liked girls for years and not all beards are actual beards, when stede was in a loveless marriage to a woman (his beard) and was not aware of being gay and falling for a man. lucius and black pete could then serve as mirrors for predicting stede and ed’s future in terms of them accepting each other, accepting that they can’t lose each other, being together romantically and sexually, the fact that they love each other and don’t own each other.
(an extra note: kinda love that black pete is called black pete, it reminds me of blackbeard and then he also wears the black armband reminiscent of ed’s black band tattoo, and he’s the one who brings ed into the narrative first by associating himself with him textually. and black pete hypes blackbeard up to be just like a legend, a violent myth, but he’s just a man, just like black pete - men capable of being soft and tender and loving with the men they love rather than just being blood-thirsty pirates.)

ian and mickey are so the type to wear each others initials on a necklace over their hearts
i can absolutely see that, specially after we saw in s10 how important it was for mickey to show that they were together and committed (im talking about the promise rings scene). i really think that being really public and loud about the fact that they're together it's actually important to them after everything they've been through, after hiding so much and after all the fear and terror. they want to feel freely proud of being together and in love.
well, also they're probably a little bit possessive and jealous but i think the main reason is just being proud, loud and free that's it, no more hiding and no more shame.

bestie do you think omega is more delulu than steve?
I wouldn’t say she’s delusional, I’d say she’s incredibly naive and wants to believe in Steve. Like, she’s never really known real love and care — never from her parents. So, at the beginning when Steve gaslights promises her he’ll care for her and give her a family, she is so desperate to believe him despite the concerns inside her head. She even says it later, she liked him so much that she wanted to believe everything he told her :( So I guess, yes, in a way she was delusional too. But what girl isn’t? Like we all want to believe the best in a guy when all the red flags are there and all our friends are telling us (and omega didn’t even have any friends to warn her). She’s easily impressionable and fell into his manipulations. But I wouldn’t say she was fully delusional bc she always has this awareness in her head of what he truly was, even if she turned a blind eye to it bc she wanted to believe in the best of him.

One argument I find funny (but not really) is the argument that having sex work would mean less rapists because the rapists in question would be having “sex” with prostitutes, so that would deter them. It’s “funny” because it assumes that 1. if rapists have “sex” (I use that term loosely), they have less desire to rape a woman, 2. with most prostitutes being female and most sex buyers being male, they indirectly confirm something that everybody subconsciously knows, but denies - that men are more likely to, and do, rape women than women are to rape men, 3. it implies that a significant portion of men are natural, or at least potential rapists, that “need” to have “sex” with a prostituted woman or else he will rape a “normal” woman (ignoring the fact that there’s no fundamental difference between a “normal” woman and a prostitute outside of many social and economic factors).
Idk I just find it sooooo interesting…..

do you ever think about how altan trengsin must have felt?
do you think he ever loved shiro? do you think he ever wanted shiro to love him? do you think he was disappointed when the only other adult in his life didn't really want him because of who he was, but because of some festishisation of his race? do you ever think he felt so lonely at irjah's? do you think he ever hated his race? do you think he ever blamed the fact that he was speerly for everything that transpired? do you think he wanted to be popular when he first got to sinegard? do you think he wanted people to like him? do you think he ever cried about any of this? do you think he felt awkward in the dorms because everyone around him were friendly enough, and he was there in the corner? do you think he ever wished he was tobi, or kureel, or anyone else? do you think he wanted jiang to like him so much because it was actually an adult that cared about HIM? do you think he ever felt rejected by jiang? do you think that's why he resented jiang - because he thinks he did something wrong and jiang was punishing him? do you think jiang ever explained to altan why? do you think that he ever felt loved by chaghan? do you think that he wanted the cike to like him? do you think the duality of how he was fetishised for his race and then was hated for his race must have affected him? do you think he ever spent hours in those fucking training rooms so he wouldn't lose the one thing people kept him around for - his fire and his ability to fight? do you think he ever struggled in social situations because he was never taught how to talk to people? do you think he ever regretted keeping people close? do you think he ever regretted pushing everyone away? do you think he was happy when he died? do you think he ever missed anyone? do you think he ever loved anyone? god, altan trengsin

how does displaying kink at pride help the lgbtqia+ community?
it’s mainly because pride wasn’t really about conforming to cishet social standards to begin with. they’ve kinda always seen us as freaks & instead of trying to conform we transformed it to be a good thing, because a freak in cishets eyes is someone who’s just a bit different. not to mention conforming was a waste of time to begin with because no matter what we do it always comes back to aggressive “I don’t care if you do it just keep it away from me”s at best & murder at worst. essentially it’s taking the power imbalance that straight society tries to impose through puritism & turning it on its head. because if imperialism has shown us anything it’s that you can easily control people if you the message shove down their throat that they’re not “pure”.
also because we need more gay sex

i think a main reason why byler has SO many parallels to other ships, like almost exact parallels, can connect with the fact that will is heavily linked with the upside down which is quite literally a parallel of hawkins. like the reason the duffer bros relies a lot on parallels to progress storylines and relationships is because the main aspect of the whole plot is about a parallel world.

just spit it out. if they judge you for it, i doubt you would want to be with that type of person long term. most people are willing to try everything at least once, they might like the same things, they might not and then it's up to you if you are willing to give something up

HSR Elysia in general (as I need to go to the store):
Elysia is an Aeon of Origin/Ego following the events of HI3 Last Banquet in Previous Era where she ascended and broke apart the fate/destiny of her world, granting her world an ability to fight against Honkai. The Elysia Raiden Mei meets in Elysian Realm is NOT A REAL ELYSIA BUT A COPY OF HER.
The real Elysia has been locked inside the Land of Origin for thousands of years but she was able to travel to Teyvat and to several other worlds but not all because not all worlds have the power of origin within them (cue Apostles of Origin planting the seeds of Origin/Ego)
Elysia as an Aeon of Origin/Ego is beloved by many Aeons as the Daughter of the Imaginary Tree (once closest friends with Idrila and Akivili). They are aware of her existence and many Aeons visit the Land of Origin to keep her company as she cannot leave for extended periods of time until Apostles started to plant seeds of Origin, letting her have more presence physically in her MPE Self (Miss Pink Elf). People who were able to visit the Land of Origin was Captain from Captainverse in HI3 and may be several more people depending on plotting.
As an Aeon of Origin, her story has a lot of gaps and Intelligentsia Guild is trying to build a full story based on all the mentions of a pink haired goddess descending and blessing worlds; however, the story of Origin is extremely vague due to influence of some Aeons to conceal certain information about Elysia/Daughter of Imaginary Tree to 'protect' her. The guild is currently searching for more information.
To truly destroy everything, Nanook needs to destroy [Origin/Ego], so the final one who must be killed to prevent all from beginning again would be Origin/Ego.
Finality and Origin are two sides of the same coin by HI3 theories: where one story ends, another begins; when one story begins, another ends. The script of Stellaron Hunters required Origin's presence and she is noted in those scripts, so any and all Stellaron Hunters may be aware of how Elysia may look like or what/who she is (an Aeon of Origin) and someone who is needed to ensure the future battle is won and universe continues to exist.
Aeon Fuli does not grant access to any memories of Origin to any Memokeeper and anyone, the memories of Elysia remain solely with him in the Eden of Blessed Insight to avoid any taint.
Elysia - as of events of the game - can appear far more often in a physical capacity, but her 'avatar' in the physical world is a 'petal' of her original Aeon Self that continues to reside within the Land of Origin. It is the true her but still an extension of her true self. So if you interact with Elysia the Petal, you are speaking with Elysia the Flower basically. They are one and the same. It's just Petal doesn't have as much power as the Flower Elysia. The main body/ego of Elysia will forever be in the Land of Origin.

dieter bravo loves the feeling of a smooth pen.
It makes no different to anybody else but him. He likes when it scratches ever so slightly against the page and makes an audible scrape when he writes, almost like a testament to his determination to finish the sentence before his inspiration leaves him.
It makes him feel like a real writer when he does it. When he scrambles for the pen at the bottom of his bag and flicks open to a blank page in the small leather bound journal he keeps tucked away his his back pocket. Half of the things written in there aren’t even stories. It’s a collection of everything. Grocery lists, addresses, and a recommendation for a chiropractor on the upper-east side of town to help with the tension in his hips that the name is ever so slightly smeared so he can’t really tell if that’s a Y or a G at the end. A testament to his being. An amalgamation of all things that are Dexter, not Dieter.
Your number is scrawled under the final paragraph of a short story that’s published in the New York Times under his pen name. You were halfway through typing it in his contact when his phone died because he always forgets his charger at home and apologized profusely while thumbing to a random page in the booklet and handing you his pen.
It took three tries for the ink to flow freely from nose of the pen and he tried to ignore the hot wash of shame that rolled down he explained that it always does that.
“I’ve been meaning to get a new one but I uh, just never got around to it.”
He won’t lie and say he doesn’t use his laptop more often but it’s nowhere near as satisfying.  Writing with a pen and paper is messier but tangible. The ink staining the side of his palm, watching the pages fill up when he gets lost in a line and another and another until he looks up and realizes two hours has past and he has ten pages full of crossed out dialogue and arrows connecting scenes with notes in the margins saying “expand on her reaction here” and “look this up later”
It makes him feel like he’s an artist. A real creator sitting on the cost of a villa as they write their next best selling novel instead of a porn star with a dream he never grew out of.

question about the b/h divorce thing. until 1966 in new york, adultery was the only way a divorce could be obtained (cruelty wasn't available as a grounds for divorce like in most other states). so did henry cheat or did betty frame him for it?
(or, if you wanna play with historical accuracy–if it was cruelty or abandonment, what did she claim happened?)
gonna pretend i knew this fact but actually. this makes it way more interesting. i used to think he would’ve cheated but now i don’t know if that really fits with his character. like. the man is hot but he’s not pulling. plus i don’t think hurting people he loves is something he does with intention—then again, he does hurt them regardless. constantly. and we see it happen even after he’s had time to reflect on past mistakes so it’s like… maybe in some drunken turn of events he might’ve cheated. they were probably quite young, too, so…. i also hc she probably couldn’t have children (i think that’s a common hc anyway) which might’ve led to nasty arguments etc... BUT
given how i see her as very capable of lying to the point of it being more natural than honesty, i feel like she easily could’ve fabricated something very elaborate just to get away. in my mind she married him, naïve, thinking it’d be fine regardless of The Life, then quickly watched it destroy them both. obviously she couldn’t say that, so it does make sense if she framed him. but i think it’d be more likely for her to frame him for abandonment rather than cruelty because 1. i don’t know if she could stomach lying about cruelty and 2. it would probably be a lot easier. i mean, henry dropping off the face of the earth without a word? it’s not like it’s out of character. maybe there was a job that went wrong that meant he had to leave for a while (maybe a similar situation to when joe had to leave), and even if she knew that, it was reasonable enough for a divorce. or, of course, she could make all of it up regardless, and i reckon she’d even bribe people into talking if necessary. but i don’t think henry would try to make it difficult, even if he looked bad in the process—he always seems to feel bad for whoever loves him back, so i don’t know if he’d fight. he’d probably just get it over and done with and avoid her instead (like he did with other people…)
however, if she did frame him for any of these (especially cruelty), i wonder how people would’ve seen and treated him after she died……
