5. Jealousy pt.1- seeing their partner wearing someone else's jacket

When Jack asked you out he had told you there were a lot of things about beastmen, specifically wolf beastmen, that were different than humans. Not in a bad way and not exclusively cultural, some of those differences were instinctual. You knew he had avoided telling you all of them, not wanting to come off too intense. He had mentioned, once or twice, that scent was very important but he hadn't really mentioned why. Not that you had not asked, he just got extremely embarrassed resulting in the two of you standing in extremely awkward silence for a while.
Much like you were now, except this one seems a touch more tense.
"I'm sorry for being late." You try to break the silence and Jack nods clearly trying to think about what he really wants to say.
"It's my fault, I should have texted to let you know I was getting back from the track meet early." Usually Jack is very in tune with your movements, but today he seems a bit off. Like there's something off about you but you can't really tell what. "Did something happen in your lab class today?"
"No?" You look yourself over for any signs of injury and don't really find any.
"Then why are you wearing Deuce's lab coat?" He asks and when you react by giggling he immediately tries to back track. "It's not like I am jealous."
"Of course not." You try to quiet your laughter. "But just in case you were that would be ok. Grim spilled a bunch of paint all over my lab coat last night and we couldn't get the stains out so Deuce lent me his."
"Don't start." He huffs. "I'm just wondering why you went to Deuce for help instead of me." So he really is jealous, you sort of feel bad. You begin to unbutton the lab coat which only makes Jack's fluster worse.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just ran into him on the way to class so it was a real last minute thing." As the coat comes off Jack relaxes just enough for you to notice. "If I have to wear anyone else's clothes I promise they'll just be yours." Jack takes a deep breath.
"Good. H-hey stop grinning like that I didn't mean it like that! I was not jealous." His tail when you slip into his blazer begs to differ.

My Rankings of Rick Riordan's Books:
Heroes of Olympus: I don't remember them too well now (I can't remember every detail), but I do have fonder memories of this series than of the others. I don't know why. Maybe if I reread it, I'd have complaints or notes like I've had with Pjo. But I just feel a fondness for this series and characters and events. Only thing that'll get it docked marks is the deaths of characters like Bob/Iapetus and others. I'm not a fan of death in my fiction, although I will sadly accept it sometimes.
Magnus Chase and the gods of Asgard: Again, I haven't read these ones in a while. But I liked these books a lot. I wouldn't want to live in Valhalla (I'd rather take my chances with Helheim), but the gods and characters were all very fun. Thor and his goats, Loki who has the acid scars (I think), the inexplicable references to cheers all throughput the second book, etc. I know they're nothing like Marvel's Thor comics, but I like both these books and the old 60s/70s Thor Stories. I think I'm just a sucker for mythologies.
The Kane Chronicles: I can't remember if Bes died. If he did, that'll dock some marks. Since I loved Bes. But besides that, my few memories of this series are great. The mobster ghost, senile old Ra, the old huntress god who's convinced jelly babies are real monsters, there's a lot of fun stuff in there that I can recall.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: On my reread of this series at school, I've discovered I'm not too fond of them. For example, I hate the villian. Whereas I remember liking some of the villians in the other books. Octavian, Loki, Set, the mobster ghost mentioned earlier, they're all way more fun than Luke. Other things too, but that's a big one. Also, I hate how Tyson was treated at camp during the sea of monsters and I didn't like how Bianca left Nico to become a hunter in the Titan's Curse, but those are subjective things on me.

I'm a few pages into Nightmare Fuel, but now considering putting it aside and reading A Strange and Stubborn Endurance instead. I've heard that one compared to A Marvellous Light, and while I don't get the craving for romance very often I kinda want a cosy gay romance right now...
#it's been A Week and im having All the Emojis right now so I think i need a comfort read lol#monday got a raise but also told my boss hates that i start work at 9 and leave at 5 (?) still unsure how to handle that#i tried explaining that i don't stay late like the other developers bc im very fast and can accomplish things within our deadlines easily#idk if it worked#then Wednesday i broke a $300 monitor that had been entrusted to me for working at home and had to replace it boss does NOT need to know)#and this was also my first week of 3 days commuting to the office so im exhausted and there's still one more day....#anyway yeah its been one of those weeks#also pragmatically Endurance has a way longer waiting list than Nightmare so since im running low on library book time...#...better to read it first since i won't be able to renew it#(if a book has tons of holds they don't let you renew it so they can keep the line moving. which makes sense and usually isn't an issue)#oh also this week i read Nona which was of course emotionally devastating lol. god what a book
