hey everyone !!! long time no see !!!

i’m just popping on to let you all know that i will be archiving this blog and moving to a multi over the next few days ! i’ve been hard at work getting everything set up !!! nothing bad happened, i’ve just gotten more experience with multi, a better idea of how i want to craft my writing and characters and a need to expand past the spider verse fandom !!! i will be following people on my multi when it is complete.

it isn’t the end of the semester but i’m already having my end of the semester breakdown oh my GOD I am going to have a heart attack. sprite save me

#nothing is done!! not my applications not my interviews etc #I am running out of time to graduate in June and I could just graduate in august but then I have to admit to my family that I fucked up bad #it takes 3-6 weeks to get IRB approval I need to step on it #it’ll take at least 4 for my paid leave forms for work to go through and I don’t know if it’ll get approved #and if it does when do my benefits start #I feel like an idiot where those forms are concerned because it needs an occupation code and I don’t know if it’s specific #or if I can just select the one that best matches my job description and I can’t find that info anywhere #my body is literally shutting down I have two golf ball sized tumors and I can’t get out of bed but I can’t sleep #my car is kaputt and I have to call several different shops to get it seen because the one I took it to couldn’t fix it #and is any of it worth it!! is any of it!!#I cried for like three hours today bc I tried to talk to my mom about it and. well. she was very much a mom about it and not helpful #like yeah! obviously I want to graduate in June! but my research isn’t even approved because I haven’t been able to get myself #to complete the application for the last six months! Jesus Christ!#I can’t sleep and I’m so tired I’m so so tired my brain just straight up isn’t working!#I swear to god if I finally meet with my advisor and he does his well you don’t seem to need my help bullshit again #I’m gonna actually snap and kill him #anyway. need to do three things by end of Wednesday. just three things #clean. irb. and paid leave. that’s it that’s all.#it’s what I’ve tried to do the last four days and I’ve accomplished none of it but. so I do focus groups sometimes for extra cash and I have a link to a new one that needs new participants - it’s for fans of superheroes, comic books, and action-adventure movies and the pay is $100 for a 75-minute zoom call on May 2nd if you get selected (it’s also US-only unfortunately)

God. Okay. Not to still be making Jesus Christ Superstar/Black Sails posts but there’s SUCH a parallel to be drawn between Pilate and Rogers in the way they’re both desperate not to be seen as villains, not because they object to committing horrific crimes against humanity which make them inherently villainous, but because they’re afraid for their reputations and how they’ll be remembered by history.

And they both mistakenly believe that they, as leaders of imperial occupying forces, should be able to control how they’re perceived within their narratives. But they CAN’T and this infuriates them.

this vs. Rogers and Madi’s convo in 4x09. Truly nothing like telling a man who is used to there being no limit to his power “you cannot control the outcome of this situation” (or, in Madi’s case “I’m not going to let you”).

#they’re both like ‘can’t believe i’m being FORCED to be the villain by the mean people i’m oppressing :/‘ and it’s like #dude. YOU entered into this situation!!!!!!!! YOU chose the role of ‘villain’!#you just didn’t think you were gonna get caught bc you thought all your atrocities would get passed of as ‘justified’#but NOPE hahaha fuck you!#people give JCS!Pilate a lot of shit for having a prophetic dream that killing Jesus would damn him for eternity and then doing it anyway #but that’s the whole POINT!!!!!!!!#it’s not that he doesn’t realize - it’s that he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing as he utterly destroys his reputation for all eternity #and it is SO satisfying #because that’s the whole reason he’s trying so hard to avoid crucifying Jesus - not because he’s a good or merciful person but because #he’s afraid for his good name #which is SO reminiscent of Rogers insisting on offering Madi the treaty again in 4x09 #he frames it as an act of mercy inspired by Eleanor but i don’t buy that for a second #it would just be a lot more convenient for him if he could get both a signed treaty AND the cache out of this situation #because then his debts are paid AND he can frame himself as the ‘hero’ who stopped a war that could have ended civilization #whereas if he just kills them all - he doesn’t get that glory and risks not getting the cache either #AND - as it turns out - it also leads to him being defeated and having his reputation destroyed in the historical record #i am Once Again Saying that a JCS-esque AU where Flint and Silver know the ending from the start (to varying degrees) would be SO good #and it DEFINITELY involves Rogers having a prophetic dream about his defeat and humiliation and being even MORE terrified of that happening #Billy somewhat plays Judas to both Flint and Silver but so does Silver to Flint #and i don’t feel like anybody else fits in specific boxes - it’s really just Black Sails But With Selective Narrative Awareness #and it is VERY sexy and i think about it every day of my life #anybody who wants to talk more about this MESSAGE ME - i’m about to go to bed but my brain is EXPLODING #black sails

im not following e-pistulae but now im thinking i should be, because i'm supposed to teach latin epistolography to the 4th-year students. ive got some ideas for what pliny and seneca letters to teach, and ill throw in a day of documentary letters from vindolanda, but i want to do some cicero - any of you e-pistulae readers have favorites? any ideas? there are so many to choose from, and the ones on my grad reading list were dense and allusive, selected seemingly to give a sense of his style rather than a story.

so. if you saw me losing my mind at 2am… i am having more thoughts. well, more like pepe silvia trying to figure out how to connect that to what i already had in my mind post volcano…

So I’m gonna be moving to Florida after Thanksgiving. Naturally being the bookworm I am, I started looking around at the libraries and stuff bc that’s the main way I get my books bc I’m also a broke bitch…. Is having terrible libraries a good excuse for not wanting to live in a certain area??

There are actual bugs they could be fixing. Why are they fucking with the UI in the character creation menu at this point?

#taking the numbers away from the appearance options seems like such a pointless thing to do #like I’m really gonna remember the names of the hair styles I really like?#baldurs gate 3 #also changing the way you select multiple items from your inventory?#I’m not saying its a /bad/ change necessarily #just not one that would be at the top of my priority list because the old way worked fine
