this was so so good omg!! the pining, the flirting, the co-parenting??? i loved everything about this you have no idea. i may not be the biggest marauders stan to ever exist and i’m more of a moony type of person, but i love pads so much <333 he is baby <333 i also have to say that this did not read like a 5k fic, i was genuinely surprised how quickly this was over.

Okayyyy I finished tsasog and without further ado here is me simping:

God I missed your wolfstar the UST, the chemistry is unparalleled. I need my wolfstar pathetic and intense and pining mutually right off the bat and you delivered. Don't think I didn't see Remus's reaction when he caught sight of Sirius in his church that first time!

Ok some of my fave metaphors (not incl. religious) that have stuck with me: spit watermelon seed for Lola. Holding a cherry pit under his tongue waiting for Remus. That whole description of James in the last chapter omg.

Having never watched Fleabag bc of the triggers, to me, the way you described missing your dead friend, and what it felt like for Sirius right after she died-- it's accurate. All of it. Thank you for treating it tenderly and honestly. It made me feel less crazy tbh.

Ok onto the Hot Priest bit. Again, only you and only wolfstar will have me buying into The Hot Priest (like yes, Sirius, Get On Your Knees for Remus where you belong. The fingers on his tongue, like he is receiving the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, only hello it's the body of Remus John Lupin). I weirdly grew up with a brand of priest where being hot was part of their whole thing to like "attract people to God" but then like try being fifteen and in confession and having to tell said priest you let your bf touch your boobs shit got weird.

ON THAT NOTE. I am FERAL for all the religious/sacrilegious metaphors and perversions and commentary. I already talked about Sirius receiving "communion," but Sirius crucifying himself on a FIRE ESCAPE with his pathetic love for Remus? Perfect. If you ever need a beta for that shit PLEASE let me put my catholic education to werk. I once wrote a metaphor comparing a sex facial to the baptism of Jesus in the river jordan. I got a lifetime of knowledge.

I'll end with this: Remus, after he leaves the church and goes to Sirius and professes his love-- that experience was beautifully depicted. Remus saying that religion is a source of goodness and truth and peace, and if you aren't experiencing that, then it's not what you are meant to be doing: SO TRUE. And then there's that feeling of freedom and happiness and joy you have when you are brave enough to truly follow your path, even if it means giving up an identity and a life and a truth you once believed. It's terrifying but exhilarating once you make it to the other side. But yeah, that idea of bone-deep, constant "suffering," as Remus called it, while staying in the church, and then realizing that that is not what church or God or love should actually feel like- that is the *only* way a truly devout person will ever have the strength to walk away from it. You nailed it.

Hope this ask isn't too unhinged but like what is the point of fandom if you cant pull shit like this amirite? Thank you for sharing your writing-- you are doing the lord's work. xxooo

i actually can’t write r/s without UST and like intense amounts of pathetic pining it just doesn’t make sense to me thank you for seeing my vision and loving it!! i’m really honoured you read this work despite it having some triggering material for you - and then also feeling i honoured the events that happen and treated it well. whenever i write difficult topics (grief, mental health struggles, unhealthy relationships etc) im always trying to approach it with care and honesty and vulnerability! drawing from what i know and how i think that character would also react to these events. but yeah thank you :-) particularly irt religion which i have some knowledge of but not hugely, i actually ended up doing a lot of research and like reading priest’s experiences in the church and why they chose the profession etc and then why some leave. and i’m glad the last part resonated because religion isn’t inherently evil or bad and i didn’t want r to be like i don’t want any of it! but to actually connect with his faith again to realise that the way he was practicing and engaging with his religion was no longer healthy and no longer the best way to like connect with it and god!!

and damn i wish i had gotten you on board for the religious metaphors 😭 you would have taken it the next level aidjfjw but thank you so much for all these lovely words!!!! just loved reading all this :-) xxxx

And maybe one day you bring up how annoying they are to Harry

So you guys go on dates and you’re getting pretty serious but it’s still a secret

And Remus and Sirius know you’re seeing someone (and probably make a ‘poor Harry :(‘ comment) and they ask you but don’t push when you tell them it’s still new and you don’t want to ruin anything

But they really want to meet them (and they’ve respectfully stopped talking about Harry to you, even if they whined about it the night they realised you were seeing someone)

And you’re like okay I’ll invite him for dinner on Friday

And they’re like no Harry is coming over on Friday

But you’re like no it’s fine

And they want to say ‘it’s not fine because Harry is in love with you and it will break his heart’ but instead they say ‘okay’

But anyways when Harry comes you introduce him as your boyfriend and Sirius is dramatic so whatever he is holding he drops and Remus actually lets out a laugh

And they’re so excited and so upset that you never told them

And they keep asking questions because they’re nosy and need to know everything

And honestly you both thought they were bad when you weren’t dating but they’re even worse now

Because now they’re not trying to get you alone and are always beside you

Not even in a protective, they’re literally just nosy and like knowing what you guys do and what you talk about

So you and Harry really treasure time alone

And everyone is happy because the Marauder children are dating

But everyone’s still sad because Lily and james never got to see it 🥲

what i’m currently reading/recently finished in the last day & love:

1) finally found my hallelujah

okay this was fucking cute. it’s one shot set after hogwarts. slytherin sirius goes to wedding planner remus to have him plan his expensive ass pureblood wedding. you get some background jily and toddler harry in this one. there’s also come smart ass regulus which makes me happy. angst, fluff, smut! (rating: E)

2) primaverse

let’s be real, i love anything lunchbucket (@quoththethestral) writes. it’s all outstanding, okay? this is a series and look, you don’t have to read it all at once but you definitely should, all together it’s only 12 chapters (around 100,000 words) so a fairly quick read. modern, non magical au in which remus is an art history professor that sirius meets while backpacking through europe. there is fluff, and ANGST (because you know i can’t live with out it), and smut of course. make sure you read the tws there's some medical stuff in part 2. i cried multiple times reading this. SO GOOD. (rating: E)

3) the last great american dynasty

eve (@evermoreremus) is a fucking amazing writer. this is a modern, non magical au where sirius is running for office and asks his ex(remus) to join his campaign as a speech writer. the whole time i read this i was thinking “fucking goddamnit, peter” which i love thinking anytime i read with the marauders because honestly, peter sucks. also if you’ve been here before you know i’m a regulus simp and he is written so well! (i actually screamed out loud at him at one point and my hubs thought i was losing it so...) you also get background jily and background dorlene in this one. angst and fluff! (rating: M)

4) finest in fairford

if you’re in need for a cute fluffy one shot here you go! sirius is an australian writer who frequents the coffee shop remus works at. (rating: G)

5) teach me how to love

OH MY GOD I AM SCREAMING BECAUSE I LOVE THIS I LOVE IT I LOVE IT ASHDBDIFKEL!!!!!!!!!!!! modern non magical au where sirius goes on a blind date with remus... who ends up being harry’s english teacher. i love any wolfstar with harry, it makes me so happy! this is from @wplfstar and is still in-progress and if it wasn't clear I AM OBSESSED and will be staring very impatiently at my inbox for updates. 6) reeled

i am of the belief that besides from arthur and merlin in bbc’s merlin and scorpius malfoy and albus potter, there’s never been a better accidental queer ship than wolfstar. like. they read like an actual couple. they make sense as a couple. i know a lot of people who simply did not realise they weren’t a heavily implied couple. their dynamic is just incredible and i truly can’t believe there was ever a time where i didn’t ship them? and there was. shout out to twelve year old maddie who read up to year four of pengiwen’s marauders series (who follows me on wattpad btw? a little weird but ok) and then immediately clicked off it bc it got very wolfstarish and back then i was dealing w/ a lot of internalised homophobia! honestly i’ve still not finished that series but maybe i’ll try. honestly i just adore wolfstar, they’re not necessarily the most important ship to me, that spot is held by scorbus for a lot of reasons, but i love their dynamic and i love the way they balance each other, and i especially love the angst that is involved in every single canon compliant fic involving them !!

pipabeth — piper mclean/annabeth chase

ok i am very much of the wavelength of kind of despising any ship that messes w/ my otp, and obviously,,, that’s percabeth. HOWEVER i literally can’t argue that pipabeth didn’t happen, like. even if it was one sided. you can’t look me in the eye and tell me that piper mclean wasn’t a little bit fucking gay for annabeth chase. like. i think if annabeth hadn’t spent about four years pining for percy, she’d have wifed piper up the second she realised she was into girls. it’s very difficult to explain but pipabeth is my favourite ship involving piper however it’s not my favourite ship involving annabeth. however. hear me out. if the entirety of the pjo series hadn’t been in mr. percy “the world was collapsing, and the only thing that really mattered to me was that she was alive.” jackson aka simp of the entire fucking century i probably would’ve shipped pipabeth a lot more than i do? i think just the fact that i spent five books in percy’s head makes me crushed at the idea of him not being with annabeth just bc you know how much he cares abt her, plus the fact that… really the entire hoo series is based around them. like idc. in tlh all my brain sticks to is leo and the fact that annabeth needs to find percy. in son all i can think abt is the fact that the only thing (!!!) percy can remember is annabeth. and then in moa and hoh there’s percabeth. they’re not happy but they’re together. rick just did a really good job with percabeth, blending their relationship with the plot and making it overwhelming but also not, to the point where i find it difficult to really wholeheartedly enjoy any ship that contradicts with their relationship. so yeah, i love pipabeth but i’m glad it didn’t happen

dramione — draco malfoy/hermione granger

literally not even gonna explain this one lmao just say you’re into oppressor x oppressee and enjoy reading those weird non-con fics where people buy a sex slave and regularly assault them and move on. this pairing would be perhaps. okay in an au where draco didn’t, i don’t know, actually abuse and harass hermione for seven years based off of the fact that she was “impure” in comparison to him, but the majority of dramione fics take place during hogwarts or after the battle, and i don’t care if draco has a redemption arc. a redemption arc doesn’t change the fact that he did irreversible damage to hermione and she deserves fucking better!

??? — agatha wellbelove/simon snow

they’re cute but specifically in the way that agatha’s a lesbian and simon is bi but heavily preferring men, and they’d fake date / even get married because it’s expected of them, and they’re best friends and can imagine spending the rest of their lives in an open, completely platonic relationship, and they’ve known each other so long that they’re familiar and comfortable and work together. they’re definitely the type of couple that “picked” their crushes on each other, and they started dating because it made sense for them to do so, but they never had any feelings for each other. they love each other to pieces but they’re not in love— agatha has more chemistry with penelope than simon, and simon spends the entire trilogy thinking about baz and baz only. so they’re a cute couple, but in the way that they’d only work if they’d acknowledged that they were clearly each other’s beards? like. they’re both gay…

So hear me out, if Sirius Black had lived, he would’ve needed a new wand. This is my head cannon. My reasoning is below 🤩🤩🤩

Holly and Thestral tail hair, 13 1/4”, unyielding.

The only known wand to contain thestral hair is the Elder Wand, but it’s power is always attributed to the Elder wood, and the core is never mentioned in the books, only by JKR’s website.

The Elder Wand finds its long term match in Albus Dumbledore, and it’s clear that the powerful wand wood reflects the power of the wizard himself. But Dumbledore is also someone who has experienced a great deal of loss. He lost his parents, his sister, his lover. His only remaining family is Aberforth, and their relationship is strained by hardship and shared history. Perhaps part of what made the Elder Wand loyal to Dumbledore was his complex understanding of death and loss, which I imagine would register with the thestral well. If this were the case, Sirius would be a very logical candidate for a thestral core.

As for the holly, just read the wood description below. It’s a wand wood that, while suited for powerful magic, has a tendency to guide and protect its wielder, even helping the wizard or witch to overcome their anger. Could any wand wood be more perfect for Sirius Black?

“Holly is one of the rarer kinds of wand woods; traditionally considered protective, it works most happily for those who may need help overcoming a tendency to anger and impetuosity. At the same time, holly wands often choose owners who are engaged in some dangerous and often spiritual quest. Pairing thestral with holly, a picture begins to emerge that is very Sirius to me. It’s about a wand that takes its bearer on a journey, through grief and pain and anger, and towards acceptance.

I’m so stuck on Wolfstar atm so here’s a wrecked, self-destructive Sirius from my fic, The Promise, chapter 3. 😂🖤

Edit: the excerpt, for you my sweets:

It’s a Thursday night, uncommonly warm, when Sirius tromps through the living room where Remus sits reading. He’s wearing a black Joy Division tshirt and blue jeans with a ratty, oversized green cardigan thrown around his broad but thin shoulders. His stark white collar bones are vivid against the dark cotton and swirling black tendrils of tattoos he has given himself, mostly while imprisoned. If he were healthier, he would look quite attractive, but instead his eye sockets are hollow and hungry, and there’s a distinct sheen of sweat on his brow. His cheeks are flushed, and Remus can’t tell if it’s from anxiety or alcohol.
