rhett is good at subtle protectiveness.

he does things subconsciously, at times. an arm cast in front of you when he has to brake unexpectedly while driving, to keep you from lurching forward. a hand on the small of your back, guiding you through a crowded place, letting you know he’s got you.

then there are things he does intentionally. stepping in front of you if his brother or someone else is trying to start something with him. he doesn’t want you to get caught in the metaphorical crossfire. guiding you to another room or spot altogether if it escalates. if he can help it, he doesn’t want you around anything like that.

he makes you feel safer than you ever have before, and you know he’ll always look out for you.
