there's a post in the tag about someone wishing to see more Omar in D20 and I agree, but it also reminded me about how a year ago a few RPG streamers I like started Power Play, and I never ended up watching it, and I just recently learned that Omar was in that and I could have seen what an awesome player he was long ago if I just had watched it
and then I got to thinking about how many cool actual plays are out there that don't have the budget that Dimension 20 or Critical Role have, but tell really cool stories with really good players regardless! And a lot of these players deserve recognition, but there's so little space to showcase new players for audiences who only watch D20 or CR
so anyway I compiled a list of every single actual play Omar has been in (at least, those I could find VODs for)
Power Play: actual play of Icons, a silver-age inspired superheroes rpg, hosted by QueueTimes! It's played remotely, about 59 episodes long, and includes several one-shots where (I think?) they play some other game systems as well
The Borros Saga: Banesbreak: actual play of Dungeons and Dragons, hosted by PixelCircus! Played in person, about 12 episodes long, with some one-shot vignettes. Aabria is also a player here!
Monsters and Fables: actual play of Dungeons and Dragons, hosted by the official D&D channel! Played in person, 6 episodes long
Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG: actual play of Dungeons and Dragons, hosted by Hyper RPG! Played in person, about 9 episodes long, and half the time Omar is DMing!
Balboa Cantrip Academy: actual play of Kids on Brooms, a rules-lite magical school rpg, hosted by Hyper RPG! Played remotely, and only 3 episodes long (Episode 2, Episode 3, on Twitch)
Pugmire: Homeword Bound: actual play of Pugmire, a simplified D20 with dogs, hosted by Saving Throw! Played in-person, only 3 episodes long
The Last VHS Store: a 3-episode series hosted by Saving Throw, where Omar GMs a lite D20 system he designed himself! All in-person
Carrier Penguins: a series of 4 one-shots hosted by Saving Throw, playing Lasers and Feelings, an easily hackable lite system. Ep1, Ep2, Ep3, Ep4, all in-person
Oneshots specifically:
Aces in Space charity stream with QueueTimes, playing Blue Shift - remote
The Golden Girls charity stream with PixelCircus, playing Lewd Grannies - remote
The Gauntlet s2e2 with Hyper RPG, playing Pathfinder (Omar later GMs the 8-episode s4) - in-person
Spy Island ep1 with Hyper RPG, playing ?? (an ad-hoc mafia/werewolf rpg) - remote
(And here's just a truncated list of his Saving Throw oneshots, bc there's a lot: Scooby-Doo rpg playing Wildlings, Lasers and Feelings with the Doubleclicks, House of 100 Nightmares GMing Dread, John Wick charity stream playing Lasers and Feelings)
Game the Game (board games instead of tabletops RPGs) with Geek and Sundry, playing Pitchstorm, Aftermath, and Scott Pilgrim - in-person
He was also a campaign guest player in Failed Save c2e3 (D&D, PixelCircus), Damsels, Dice, & Everything Nice s3e2 (D&D, PixelCircus), and Ironkeep Chronicles ep21 (D&D, Saving Throw)

So You Want To Watch Lifesteal
It’s happened. You’ve been seeing your mutual/followed blog reblog posts about this SMP called “Lifesteal” that apparently has some sort of gay clown? You’re intruiged. Well, couldn’t hurt to check it out, right? Maybe the gays got to you. Maybe you’ve seen the crystal demon. Maybe you’ve just seen some sick art. Whatever it was, you’ve seen something that prompted you to go “huh. maybe i should check this thing out!”
Now you’re wondering- so how do I watch this thing? Where do I start? What’s it about? Never fear! You’re in exactly the right place! Here’s the post that will walk you through how to get started watching this Lifesteal SMP thing (and maybe joining in Tumblr’s collective brainrot).
What Is Lifesteal? Let’s start with the basics. Lifesteal is a Minecraft SMP- okay. Maybe not that basic. I’m sure you know the drill. So what’s the “thing” with Lifesteal, then? What’s it all about?
Lifesteal’s premise is that when you die, you lose a heart off of your permanant health bar. This one!
Tumblr media
Now here’s the twist that makes it fun: when you kill another player, you get their heart. So if you’re both on ten hearts, and you kill someone else, their healthbar will drop to nine and yours will increase to eleven!
This is why you see so much heart imagery in fanart, and why if you see screenshots/watch videos, their health bars are rarely at ten hearts. Pretty simple, right?
Yep, mostly. Some other things you should know about the life system are that players can choose to “withdraw” their hearts, which means they remove hearts from their health by choice. They appear as nether stars in a player’s inventory. This feature is typically used for trading hearts (although usually a little more... violent) and giving hearts to allies- hearts can be stored and thrown like normal items, and a player can use the item to add a heart to their health bar (the item will vanish from their inventory).
And of course once you reach zero hearts, you’re banned from the SMP. That’s it, it’s over. Unless someone chooses to revive you. That’s pretty rare though, so mostly 0 hearts = death!
But in the cases where players are revived, it’s with the use of a special item that looks like a beacon, crafted with 4 nether stars, 4 hearts, and an elytra. Hearts in this case can function like nether stars- you can use 8 hearts and an elytra to craft the beacon. It’s very expensive, which is why it’s not used often.
Okay, great! So where do I start watching? So first, you’ll want to know that Lifesteal has four seasons so far- no! wait! don’t let that scare you off! please come back! Phew, okay. You’re still here? Alright! I was just about to tell you that you don’t have to watch them in order, don’t worry! You can start on Season One, but you really don’t need to. Most people start on Season 3 for The Gays™️ or Season Two for Clownpierce.
The most common recommendation you’ll see for new viewers is to watch Clownpierce and Branzy (yes, they’re the gays your dash won’t shut up about). Branzy doesn’t appear until Season 3, though, and he only has 6 Lifesteal episodes (find them here). Clown’s been here a bit longer, and you can find his videos here. Oh, and here’s the s3 branzypierce playlist.
What’s Branzypierce? Branzypierce, also known as Clownzy, is the ship name of BranzyCraft and Clownpierce. They’re the most popular ship here in the fandom, because it’s basically canon. I wish i was joking. Just. Click this.
But if you’re not interested in just Clown and Branzy, or you’ve already watched them and looking to find more people to watch, then keep on reading! There’s plenty more below. Before we get into it, if you want a list of s3 events and how to watch them, look no further than this post. And keep in mind, most Lifesteal videos are self-contained enough that you can watch them without prior knowledge! You almost don’t even have to watch anyone’s series in order from what I’ve found.
Starting us off, just. Ashswagg. Communism and God. I really can’t explain him to you just please go watch it. It’s only three videos I promise.
Okay, okay, now go HERE to find more channel recommendations. I would link them below, but it’d just be copying the post. my personal advice: rekrap for escapes, clown for pvp, parrot for strategy, yeahjaron for minecraft farms, reddoons for capitalism, ashwag for communism/god, and branzy for the gays! have fun!
Side note: I would not reccommend you start with this, but if you want to here is all of S3 in order!
And oh, hey! Exclusive, just for you! Here’s a quick post with other fun duos besides Branzypierce!
What about Season 4?  You may have noticed that all the links led to S3 playlists. Good job! That’s because S4 has just started and there’s not much content. Before you get into S4, you should know there’s a new system implemented that limits the armor and tools players can get- info here.
Now how to watch it? The s4 playlist, or go here! It’s got everything you need. There’s not much so far, though, so I wouldn’t try to watch it if you’re just looking to get into Lifesteal in general! Watch s3 to get content!
Do any of them stream? Yes! Not all of them do, but there are a good few Lifesteal streamers. First up, ItzSubz has Something going on over there, so go check that out. And Don Turnt streams Lifesteal fairly often. Not sure if any of the others stream regularly, but here’s the list of all their channels!
Alright, so where do I go for Tumblr content? Woo, you’ve been dragged in! You’ve checked out a couple videos! Now please, step right up to a list that is rapidly growing as Lifesteal skyrockets in popularity here on Tumblr!
Looking for incredible art? Our two main dedicated and amazing artists are @kishdoodles and @ghostpajamas, who are probably responsible for dragging most of us here (/lh! thanks guys! you’re awesome!)
If you have questions or want to know more about Lifesteal, I’d reccommend Ghost and @branzypierce, who I will never stop promoting as our resident experts. I’ve heard @rendogdomesticated also knows quite a bit, especially when it comes to Subz!
(a/n: please add onto this list! the four users i’ve linked are the blogs i know of who i see posting Lifesteal content and who know more in-depth information about Lifesteal. I will add more blogs to this list, and I’m very sorry if I missed anyone!)
That’s it, folks! I’m sure more information will be added to this post as is needed! Anything I should add? Let me know!

Reading Guidelines and Warnings: The 2012 boys go by their full names unless they speak to each other or about each other, Rise boys go by their nicknames. There will be spoilers for both shows in this fic as well as depression, grieving and major character death. If any this makes you uncomfortable I highly recommend y'all to check out my other works.
The lair was quiet, save for the sounds of soft snores and sleepy movements when Mikey had first woken up. The small box turtle blinked his hazy light brown eyes sleepily, slowly looking around to catch sight of his older brothers surrounding him on couches that weren't familiar. Confusion clouded his mind as he took in his surroundings, noting the old TV that sat in front of him and the ancient VHS player and game system. A lack of an familiar armchair and familiar soothing lights filled his vision replaced by darkness and for only horrifying moment the sickening thought of he and his brothers being kidnapped filled his mind before the events of last night came rushing back in.
Them fighting and suddenly appearing in this strange lair.
Leo nearly getting his head taken off by an older alternate self and then meeting his alternate self along with his brothers.
The somewhat tense dinner that later relaxed when they'd finally spoken to their alternate counterparts and the kindness they displayed after things were cleared up.
'Ah that's right, we're not in our reality. We're in Michelangelo's.'
He thought slowly calming down from the slight scare he'd had only moments before. Rubbing his eyes to get rid of his sleepiness, the box turtle quietly sat up on the spot he'd fallen asleep on the couch and got up, careful not to wake up his older brothers. Once he'd succeeded in his mission Mikey began to make his way towards where he assumed was the kitchen fully intending to get started on breakfast, the quiet pitter patter of his footsteps echoing in the ominous silence that surrounded him. As he drew nearer to the kitchen he'd been about to step inside when the sounds of soft voices were heard coming from inside and the scent of food, coffee and tea. Curious the young teen snuck closer to the opening listening quietly recognizing Michelangelo and Leonardo's voices quietly conversing.
"Ya sure you're feeling alright? You looked really tired last night."
Michelangelo said his voice soft and probing. Mikey heard the sounds of a cup being placed onto a table and a tired sigh.
"Mikey, I promise you I'm fine. If something's wrong you'll be one of the first to know."
Leonardo's voice replied soothing despite the harsh rasp to it. A small silence and then a lighter atmosphere.
"Alright whatever you say bro. And you better otherwise it won't be me you'll have to worry about."
Michelangelo said sounding teasing which earned a small groan from Leonardo.
"Don't remind me, I learned my lesson last time. I swear I thought I was gonna go deaf with how loud Raph yelled at me."
Leonardo said sounding exasperated which earned a chuckle from his younger brother to which he'd joined in. Mikey listened to them feeling a small smile come onto his face at their interaction. It was nice to hear that his counterpart was close to his older brother just as Mikey was close to Leo. However the smile was quickly wiped off replaced with concerned confusion as the conversation continued.
"So I'm guessing you already got a game plan for today's training in the dojo?"
Michelangelo asked the sounds of the pan sizzling following behind his question.
"You'd guess right little brother. I've already got a layout somewhat planned for our guests should they wish to join us. However I won't require them to seeing as how they're still trying to adjust to everything till they can get home. And.....well......."
Leonardo's voice trailed off uncertainty ringing loud and clear.
"You don't know if they'll listen to you or how they'll react to you being Sensei."
Michelangelo finished already guessing his older brother's concerns.
"Yeah......I really don't want to try and impose on what they've got and change what they're used to....."
Leonardo answered the gentle sounds of him nervously messing with his cup accompanying it. Michelangelo remained quiet in response, a thick quiet somber air between them. Full of things that remained unspoken and mutual understanding that only siblings could share. Mikey felt his heart sink at this, suddenly feeling extremely uneasy as he felt the change in the air once full of teasing now weighing down in the kitchen like lead.
'Sensei? As in master? Like Pops? But why is Michelangelo's brother Sensei? This doesn't make any sense!'
Mikey's thoughts raced through his head, the confusion and concern building at this piece of information that he'd unintentionally heard. As these thoughts swirled around within his mind a sudden foreboding feeling began welling up inside him, as he began to notice small overlooked details that he hadn't noticed last night. Or rather one detail that he didn't even think about until this moment. During the introductions and stories swapped between the two groups of turtles, there'd been a missing person amongst the older group of this world.
Master Splinter had been missing amongst them.
Which now that he thought about it, it was strange and very concerning. Yet he also knew deep down that if he hadn't accidentally eavesdropped on this conversation he most likely wouldn't have noticed this little detail right away. After all his own father often times was either watching one of his shows or in his room meditating or doing something else within that nature, thus he was rarely seen a lot. Yet despite not being seen too much there were hints of his father's presence within their home. From his things being placed in different places to his favorite armchair always having his blanket thrown over the arm to the sounds of his favorite show playing in the background of their lair. Yet here in this world there seemed to be nothing indicating that their father was living with them. No personal items that only a father would own nor anything that stood out that screamed Master Splinter's presence being within the lair. It was almost as if the rat didn't even exist. Mikey felt his gut clench at the thought trying to imagine a world where his father didn't exist. A world where he didn't hear his father's awful jokes or see him wandering around the lair or feel his arms hold him in his tight and loving embrace. A world where his father wasn't watching over them and offering them his full support and affection should they need it, ever a protective presence amongst their family. Mikey tried desperately to imagine it, and he couldn't.
He couldn't even begin to try and comprehend a world where his father wasn't there with them. It was just an impossibility, an anomaly that shouldn't even be. It was unnatural and unheard of. Mikey remembered how his older brother Donnie had once spoke about alternate realities and dimensions and how that no matter the time or place there was always some type of variation of them within them. That within each one they'd always be a family. And Mikey fully believed that extended to their father and April and Cassandra as well because they were their family. It was just a fact of life, an unspoken and indisputable truth that crossed over to all that's ever been and that would ever be. There was no them without their father. It was just common sense.
'If that's the case then where is their Pops? Is it possible that......that this is a world where Pops just doesn't exist?'
The thought made his stomach turn and his heart drop. Mikey felt a sense of sorrow and turmoil hit him, and he found himself refusing to believe it was a possibility. His thoughts buzzed around angrily in his head as he tried to understand.
'Where did he go? Did he abandon them? Did he live somewhere else? Maybe he's on a vacation somewhere like Tahiti?'
Mikey was so distraught with his own thoughts that he didn't notice the presence coming up behind him until a voice spoke up.
"What's wrong with you? You look like someone just killed your dog in front of you."
A voice rough and growling made Mikey's head snap up, wide light brown hues meeting narrowed and suspicious bright green ones. Standing before him was none other than Raphael and by the looks of it he was not in a good mood. Mikey stiffened his thoughts stopping dead as he internally panicked at having been caught somewhat.
"Ah-! Well-! Um-! I-!"
Mikey began to stumble over his explanation, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to figure out what to say. Raphael continued to stare at him, his eye ridge quirked up as he waited for an answer. Mikey froze not knowing what to say, his mind desperately trying to find a way out of this. As the poor box turtle floundered Raphael's expression softened slightly at seeing him struggle to say something, looking completely lost and distraught. Raphael wasn't the type to be soft nor subtle, but seeing the younger turtle looking so much like Michelangelo at that moment pulled something fierce at his heartstrings. With an awkward fumbling that only Raphael was capable of the hot headed oldest gently patted Mikey's head making him pause in his emotional hurricane.
"Look if you don't want to say anything then you don't have to. But uh......if you need something then....."
Raphael said trailing off awkwardly as he let it hang out in the air. Mikey stared at him, his eyes wide as he processed what Raphael had said. The box turtle was stunned by the gentleness he showed even if he looked extremely uncomfortable with the display. From the moment Mikey had seen the short turtle he'd been nothing but silent suspicious glares and radiating anger to some degree, only showing a softening towards his brothers and quietly and protective watching over them. Looking so vastly different from his own patient and gentle big brother, yet at that moment Raphael looked a lot like Raph. An older brother who was concerned about him and wanting to offer him some assistance should he need it. Sure it was awkward and Raphael looked like he didn't really want to be in this position but the attempt at him trying to help Mikey made the box turtle relax slightly and become more at ease. At that moment Mikey knew that Raphael was a dependable person, even if he didn't show it. The small teen didn't even think about it, instead saying the one thing that he'd desperately wanted to know.
"I just......I wanted to know where your dad was......"
Mikey said hesitantly watching Raphael with his big light brown hues. The reaction was instantaneous. The older turtle seemly stiffened, his entire body going rigid and his expression unreadable as if he had shut down for a moment. Flashes of different emotions played out in his bright toxic green gaze.
Pain.
Grief.
Guilt.
Anger.
Resignation.
So many emotions all within the span of a few seconds and that alone scared Mikey more than he'd willing admit. Despite the uncertainty and the sudden foreboding feeling that began to grow he solidered on.
"I just I uh.....I accidentally overheard your brothers talking about training and Mike mentioned that uh....Leo was the Sensei and I just......I wanted to know why I mean Pops back in our world is Sensei and I realized that your Pops never came out to greet us and-"
Mikey had began to ramble however a firm squeeze on his upper arm made him stop and glance at Raphael. The red clad turtle didn't say anything for a moment, but after a bit of silence he finally spoke up.
".......You'll have to wait for the answers to your questions. Let's everyone wake up and then we'll introduce you to Master Splinter."
Raphael finally said his voice low and barely holding back the frustration he seemed to be feeling. Mikey went to object not wanting to be kept waiting for an answer, not when he was so desperately wanting to know but the look on Raphael's face made him go quiet. It was the face of a man who was barely keeping it together, a face of a man who looked so much older than seventeen or eighteen years old. It was the look of a man who had been broken beyond repair. And it made Mikey's heart twist in agony at it. With a small quiet nod he dropped it and Raphael's tense frame relaxed slightly. Without another word Raphael walked past Mikey and towards the kitchen leaving the young teen alone. Mikey took that as his que to go back into the living room, especially when the sounds of harsh whispers came from within. As Mikey stepped into the living room where his brothers had begun to wake up the box turtle couldn't help but feel a sense of uneasiness settle over him.
'What did I just do?'
Mikey had no answer to his question but he had a feeling that he may have made a mistake.
~~~~~
Michelangelo flipped over the pancake he was currently making, his grip on the spatula tight. Leonardo was sitting at the table, his dark blue gaze burning holes into his cup of tea. Raphael was leaning against the counter, his posture stiff and full of anger and frustration over their current position. The trio didn't speak, afraid to be overheard again without their knowledge. Michelangelo felt his arm tremble lightly, his three fingered hand gripping his cooking utensil so tightly that his scaly green knuckles were pale from the strain. To think that this morning had been filled with nothing but teasing with his big brother, who for once looked at ease. Thinking about it now it felt like a lifetime ago, a distant hollow dream that couldn't last.
'Then again does anything ever really last? Especially in our lives?'
The thought whispered sharp like a knife's edge tearing straight into him. Thoughts such as these were a rare occurrence for Michelangelo, who preferred to think about the positives and the present moment that he was in. The youngest Hamato son didn't like to dwell on the past, didn't like to dwell on the traumatic events he and his family experienced within their short young lives. Unable to help himself the youngest turtle glanced at his older brothers from the corner of his eye wanting to check up on them. Raphael who was leaning against the counter still seemed to be zoning out, lost in his burning emotions that rolled off of him in waves. His posture was stiff and drawn up as tightly as an arrow in a bow, waiting to be unleashed. His light green eyes were full of anger and sorrow and guilt and where all so lost within the sea of his turmoil. Michelangelo felt his heart break at the sight, knowing exactly how his older brother felt and the guilt that he carried whether it be deserved or not.
'He could still remember it, the horrified and pained scream of Raphael from the several story building along with April's petrified scream of horror and disbelief as their enemies insane howls filled the air with their screaming.'
Michelangelo tore his gaze from his red clad brother and looked to his blue clad one. Leonardo unlike Raphael was unreadable, his expression closed off. His dark blue eyes were shuttered and distant and cold, a seemingly faraway look within them as he stared at his tea which had grown cold. Exhaustion and guilt covered his shoulders like a weight that threatened to crush him at any given moment. Michelangelo knew that his older brother carried a heavy burden much like Raphael, only this burden had grown heavier than it'd ever been.
'He remembered the look on Leonardo's face as he, Leonardo and Donatello raced to get to Raphael, April, Casey and Master Splinter. He could still see it, crystal clear and forever burned within his mind as Leonardo let out the most terrified and helpless scream of denial, could hear Donatello's heart wrenching screech next to him and felt his own vocal chords strain themselves as he tried to scream out a warning, the three of them helpless to stop anything-'
"Mikey....."
A voice soft and full of a choked emotion spoke softly from beside him. The youngest blinked and turned towards the voice to meet the soft and watery reddish brown gaze of Donatello. The purple genius had placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, his gaze full of concern. Behind him Raphael and Leonardo were close by their own expressions mirroring Donatello's. Michelangelo didn't even realize that the purple clad turtle had finally joined them in the kitchen and judging by the look he had Raphael and Leonardo had filled him in.
"Ah sorry Dee, I didn't hear you come in bro do.....do you want your coffee, I've already got the pot going-"
Michelangelo began to say, desperately not wanting to meet their gazes.
"Mikey....."
Donatello began to say but the orange clad turtle didn't listen.
"Just go on and sit down and I'll-"
Michelangelo continued on, rambling at this point and not noticing his brothers drawing closer to him.
"Mikey......!"
Raphael's voice spoke up a soft angry hiss of concern but Michelangelo refused to acknowledge it.
"And breakfast will be ready here in a bit and then we can get little Mike and his brothers and then we-"
Michelangelo rambled more his words rushed as he tried to keep it together.
"Michelangelo-!"
Leonardo's voice was the one that made him stop and look over at his brothers, startled by the use of his full name. Baby blues meet concerned and understanding dark blue, his older brother's face soft and sincere and full of the same grief that Michelangelo had tried so desperately to not face himself. Yet there his big brother was, supporting him with Raphael and Donatello in this storm of haunting memories and sharp cutting truths. And it was this knowledge this silent comfort and support that made Michelangelo finally break. Tears big and fat rolled down his freckled cheeks and he didn't hesitate to launch himself into his big brother's arms. Leonardo caught him holding him close to his chest plate as the youngest broke down. Donatello came up on one side while Raphael came up on the other wrapping their own arms around the blue and orange turtles and Michelangelo clung to them, his cries silent and full of pain and grief. The youngest could feel something wet on his head and heard the shaky breathing and sniffles that surrounded him already knowing that his older brothers had broken down as well with him.
Michelangelo snuggled into Leonardo's chest hearing his heartbeat and clung to Raphael and Donatello, feeling their movements and breathing. They clung onto the youngest just as hard, as if they were afraid just like Michelangelo that if they let go then they'd all just disappear. That they too would be torn away from them just as their father had been. Just as they'd all had nearly been at several points in their lives. Michelangelo sniffled and looked at his brothers and thought of all the times he'd nearly lost them.
Raphael when he'd been up against Slash alone after he'd attacked them.
Donatello when he'd been torn apart by his very atoms by April.
Leonardo when he'd stayed behind in the Techodome and sank into the bottom of the sea.
So many moments, so many close calls, so many times when he'd nearly lost one of them. So many missions that had nearly ended with one of them not making it home. He thought of all of them and he thought of his father.
He thought of his father's stern yet unconditional love.
He thought of his father's wisdom and courage and protection that he'd given them.
He thought of his father's guidance and all of the things he'd taught him.
All the hugs, all the love, all the fierce loyalty and dedication and sacrifices to their family. His smile, his voice, his sarcasm, his seriousness, his unwavering faith in them, his little gestures of love he showed them. His presence that offered safety and security and the knowledge of knowing that no matter what he or his brothers did he'd always be there right behind them ready to face the world with them and give them the opportunities and confidences to go through this crazy and terrifying world that made up their lives. All of the things that made his father his father, gone within the blink of an eye. His light snuffed out, there one moment and then gone the next. His father who unlike him and his brothers who had nearly lost one another so many times but had always managed to come home, had never made it back with them. Even after a year of his presence being gone, a year of him and his brothers trying to move on it never got easier. Whoever had said that time healed all wounds was a lier in Michelangelo's book because this pain that he and his brothers were filled with would never go away. No matter how much time passed they'll never truly heal from this wound that scarred them forever.
And that knowledge alone was enough to completely make him a mess.
As Michelangelo held onto his brothers grief stricken and wanting nothing more than to just stay in the kitchen with his family and keep them close driven by a somewhat childish logic that if he held onto them it'd keep them from disappearing into thin air. It was during this moment that Michelangelo had begun to make out the soft choked reassuring presences that made up his older brothers. He felt their unspoken love and affection for him, he felt their fears and grief that he himself experienced, he felt the determination to stay with him and their unspoken comfort.
We're here for you.
You're not alone.
I know you're hurting because we are too.
We know that you don't want to have this conversation, we don't either but it'll be okay.
Because we have each other and we're not alone in this.
Because that's what Hamatos do, we face the world and whatever happens next together.
We love you little brother and we're here.
All of it was for Michelangelo and he grasped these silent comforts with everything he had giving them back to his older brothers.
I love you big brothers.
I'm not leaving you alone either.
I'm here for you and I'm not letting you guys face this alone.
As he gave these comforts back he felt his older brothers squeeze him tightly to let him know that they received the message. Michelangelo looked up at his older brothers, his heart full of the neverending grief and his eyes much like their own full of silent tears. He knew that eventually, most likely soon that he and his brothers would have to face their younger alternate counterparts, will have to explain the story that they didn't like to talk about. But at the moment Michelangelo didn't think about that, instead basking in the silent reassuring presence of his older brothers who were just as broken as him.
~~~~~
Mikey shimmied in his seat on the couch, worry and guilt eating at him. The small box turtle had seen Donatello head into the kitchen and disappear within it and once he had no one had came out of it. Mikey had become concerned desperately wanting to know if they were alright, and feeling like that he'd unintentionally caused all of this. His older brothers were awake now and having noticed their youngest distress had probed him for answers until the box turtle had finally cracked and word vomited the entire encounter. Raph of course had instantly been upset quickly scolding the youngest turtle about eavesdropping on conversations and how it was incredibly rude to do especially when they were guests in these other turtles home. Leo and Donnie had just looked at him in slight disappointment for his unintentional rude behavior and they were currently talking quietly amongst themselves. It was strange to see given how Leo would have teased Mikey for getting into trouble however the slider hadn't said a peep, his light blue eyes instead unreadable as he quietly listened before going to talk to Donnie. As the twins conversed Raph had taken to talking to Mikey and scold and offer him comfort for the obvious anxiety he was currently feeling.
"You really shouldn't be doing stuff like that Mikey, that was obviously a private conversation between other you and Leo."
Raph said his dark green eyes full of eldest child disappointment in his behavior.
"I know-! I didn't mean to I just wanted to make us breakfast and then I heard the conversation and I just wanted to know where their Pops is-! I didn't mean to possibly upset anyone honest-!"
Mikey said upset and frustrated with himself for this whole situation. The box turtle was usually pretty good at noticing social and emotional ques but it seemed as if he was off his game today. The snapping turtle stared at his little brother, taking in his guilt riddled expression and already knew that he was sorry. Taking a deep breath Raph placed a large gentle hand on his baby brother's head and gave it a soft head rub.
"I know you didn't mean to Miguel, you wouldn't intentionally do something to hurt someone."
Raph said in a soothing low tone earning a small hum from the youngest.
"Mike's got a point though Raph. It's weird that their Papa hasn't shown himself yet, especially since we're not exactly the quietest bunch."
Donnie piped up in the conversation making Raph and Mikey look over at him and his twin.
"Wonder what their Dad's like? Is he anything like ours back in our reality?"
Leo mused curious about the alternative version of his father. It wasn't everyday that you got to meet a different version of your old man.
"Maybe he's like our Papa, though I highly doubt it considering that our doppelgangers are vastly different from us. I mean look at Leo, he's extremely different from Leon here. For example he's very mature while Nardo's not."
Donnie stated already pondering all the possibilities while Leo gave his younger twin a glare.
"Haha hilarious Donald you're a real comedian."
Leo said sarcasm oozing into his sentence. Donnie just waved him off obviously unbothered by his older twin's snark.
"I honestly don't know what their Pops is like, but we'll find out eventually and whenever they're ready to let us know."
Raph said giving his three younger brothers a stern look to get his unspoken message across. Leo opened his mouth to say something when the sounds of footsteps coming into the living room made the four younger turtles go quiet and turn around to see their counterparts. As soon as Mikey saw Michelangelo his gut twisted violently. The older orange turtle despite the small plastered on smile, was obviously extremely upset. His eyes were red and puffy and his cheeks were stained as if he'd been crying. An aura of somber pain surrounded him making Mikey's throat go dry as he realized that Michelangelo had been crying.
'Mikey what did you just uncover??'
His mind hissed harshly at him, his guilt crushing him even more. He never wanted to make his new friend cry, and knowing that he did broke his heart. And it seemed like he wasn't the only one who was reeling from this as he felt his brothers staring straight at Michelangelo's brothers which Mikey quickly realized that they too had puffy eyes and stained cheeks. A sense of dread filled him.
'They were all crying.....why were they crying.....?'
Mikey wondered that foreboding feeling that he'd felt earlier coming back full force. The older turtles didn't say anything, instead they quietly looked at one another seemingly having a silent conversation before Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo's eyes landed on Leonardo who seemed to mentally pull himself together and with a somewhat serious and resigned look he finally spoke.
"I was told that you were curious as to where Master Splinter was. I'd first like to apologize for not saying anything about it sooner for it hadn't occurred to me to say anything till very recently."
Leonardo said his voice low and gruff, a crocky harsh edge to it. Mikey couldn't help but flinch at it, noting that it'd sounded even worse than when they'd first met. It was unsettling in a way to hear something so harsh sounding come out of someone who looked so kind and sincere. Mikey couldn't help but think that the older turtle struggled somewhat to speak, as if his vocal chords were strained. Leonardo's voice which was harsh and dark was vastly different from Leo's voice which was smooth and bright. It was startling to say the least.
"If you are still interested in meeting with our Sensei you can meet him in the dojo. We'll be waiting for you inside when you've come to a decision."
Leonardo finished giving them all small looks before heading towards the room with the sliding doors. Following close behind him where his brothers, who much like their eldest blue brother, headed inside the dojo to join him before sliding the doors closed to give them time to process. Mikey couldn't help but stare at the doors a small feeling of relief peeking through his anxiety and guilt. From what he'd seen none of them appeared mad at him which was what he was afraid of. However......
"So.......are we going to meet their old man?"
Leo asked curious yet hesitant. The red eared slider seemed uneasy with the whole thing, as if he sensed that something was wrong. Donnie sat quietly thinking about his choice while Raph and Mikey exchanged looks.
"Well I for one am curious to see how an alternative version of Papa is like. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and I'm dying to make use of it."
The soft shell said bluntly earning deadpanned looks from his siblings. Raph rubbed the back of his neck, sweating slightly in nervousness.
"What if he's not happy about us being here. I mean we have no idea how he'd react to four strangers in his home."
Raph stated as he thought about all the ways this meeting could go wrong. Mikey meanwhile sat quietly that foreboding feeling now suffocating him. Something was screaming at him that something wasn't right, that something was amiss. However he pushed it down knowing that if he didn't get his answer to his earlier question he'd never be able to relax properly.
"I say we should give it a shot. Besides it's best if we do it now before too long, we don't want to accidentally upset him."
Mikey chimed in earning nods of agreement from his brothers. Now on the same page Leo clapped his hands together and stood up.
"Alright then let's get to it. Vamonos mi hermanos."
Leo said breaking into Spanish to try to lighten the mood. However it was clear that he too was itching to figure things out. Following his lead the other three stood up and the group of four made their way towards the dojo. Leo was the first to go in, opening the doors and stepping inside. Donnie went in next obviously wanting to get his mental notes on this alternate Splinter with Raph following behind him. The last one in was Mikey who after a moment's hesitation finally took a step inside and shut the doors behind him. The small box turtle turned around and was met with a beautiful sight. The dojo was large and decorated with tatsumi mats and lanterns that hung on the ceiling. On the walls different weapons of Japanese origin hung on mantels displayed proudly. The smell of incense filled his nose and made him relax slightly as he made his way further inside taking the beautiful room in. However what caught his attention was the large tree that sat in the middle of the dojo. It stood within the room, strong and firm and thriving despite being in the dark and damp sewers of New York City. It's bark and dark and it's leaves a bright green showing any who saw it just how much love was put into maintaining it. And there sitting at its roots was Leonardo and his brothers. The older group of turtles were quietly talking to one another, remaining within touching distance of one another. Michelangelo was speaking to Donatello the two youngest brothers seemingly offering each other support for some reason. Leonardo and Raphael on the other hand were quietly speaking as if trying to figure out how exactly they're were going to do this.
Mikey and his brothers exchanged looks with one another, confused and weary by the strangeness of it all as they sat down on the mats and waited for their counterparts to introduce them to Master Splinter. It was only a few minutes of silence save for the older turtles talking before they finally turned their attention to Mikey and his brothers. Their expressions were resigned and their auras were clearly uncomfortable. Yet they powered through it as they gazed at the younger versions of them. Mikey watched in confusion and unease as they had one last look with one another before Leonardo took the center stage and with a somewhat shaky breath he spoke.
"Leo, Raph, Donnie, Mikey.......we'd like to formally introduce you to our Sensei and our father......Hamato Yoshi......or rather......Master Splinter......."
Leonardo spoke his voice shaking slightly halfway through when he said father as he gestured off towards the side. Mikey turned his head confused as he scanned in the direction of where Leonardo pointed. He knew his brothers were doing so as well yet he paid no mind to them instead searching for a glimpse of a rat or a tail before light brown hues spotted something that they never noticed before. Hidden from sight and only seen if one was truly aware of their surroundings was a placement full of pictures. The first one Mikey noticed was one of a human family, a Japanese man with kind yet stern eyes stood next to a beautiful Japanese woman who smiled a sincere and kind hearted smile. Within her arms sat a small infant girl swaddled in a blanket. Yet that wasn't the only photo that was there. No......
There was one more.
The second photo was of an older rat in a dark red kimono and a green staff. Furs of black, brown and white covered the tall mutant in the photo, his expression was stern and full of a wisdom that Mikey had only seen a few times on his own father whenever he'd been serious. His eyes were a dark brown and they too were stern and serious yet hidden deep within their dark depths a hint of mischief and kindness shore through them. It didn't take a rocket scientist to connect that the rat within the photo was Master Splinter. Yet why Leonardo and his brothers were showing this to Mikey and his brothers left him confused. The box turtle was about to state his confusion out loud when the sudden sound of a sharp intake of breath sounded from next to him. Mikey snapped his head towards the brother who was next to him, to Leo who was staring at the photo with a pale and fearful expression. His light blue eyes were wide as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing, as if he didn't want to believe it. His older brother had his hands in tight fists, his arms trembling slightly. The reaction spooked Mikey and he turned to his other brothers only to see that they too were in a state of shock. Raph was shaking, his dark green eyes wide and shimmering and his entire body was shaking as if he desperately wanted to turn to the older turtles and shield them from harm. Donnie meanwhile stared blankly, his dark brown eyes unfocused and he was shaking his head in disbelief, quietly muttering small no's under his breath. Mikey turned back to the photo confused and uneasy not knowing what was wrong but then he finally looked at where the photos were sitting.
The two photos were placed in the middle of a structure, with small candles on both sides and incense. A small bowl filled with a small offering sat before them and it was then it hit Mikey exactly what he was looking at.
He was looking at a shrine.
A shrine used for dead family members.
Mikey's heart stopped and the world came to a halt as he stared at it, a growing amount of horror and denial hitting him. It couldn't be true, there was no way it was a joke a sick twisted one but a joke nonetheless. He wanted to scream and yell at their counterparts for pulling such an awful thing when what was said next made him face the reality he so desperately wanted to deny as he tuned back into what Leonardo was trying to say earlier before trailing off.
"Hamato Yoshi......Master Splinter......the last leader of the Hamato clan before.......before his death."
And just like that Mikey and his brothers felt the world crumble and shatter around them.
*Me sick with covid and should be resting: Ugh this sucks wtf man I wanna take a nap and I ache everywhere. My brain: Yeah that sounds like a plan but also what this? Me: Omfg write that down! BG3: The Power of Player Narrative
In my most recent multiplayer run of Baldur's Gate 3, the game on everyone's minds, I found myself playing the role of a companion.
I don't mean simply piloting one of those already given to you at the start of the game, no, what I managed to land myself into, was roleplaying a fully fleshed out 'custom companion', Hestia. A blue-haired, somewhat crass, Tempest Cleric of Mysta's domain.
Tumblr media
-- She does seem a bit mean, doesn't she? --
Now, while many of us can say that we're used to making up stories for our intrepid adventurers, and designing whole narratives for them, I was surprised by the ability of BG3 to allow me to do so.
It was amazingly easy to craft an inspiring quest of a cleric now wanting revenge on a variety of former suitors from her time as a noble. Easy to invent up bits of dialogue for her (based on the tremendous amount of soft storytelling already present). Other companions 'interacted' with her based on their own traits, such as hers and Gale's mutual love for Mystra and the Weave.
It was even easy to make her her own companion tent!
Tumblr media
-- What a bookworm! --
A bit too easy. As after hours of me interjecting with 'Hestia disapproves!' at various choice selections, the host finally decided to listen to me for once. To our extreme regret.
At around 20 hours, we had found Rugan, the Zhentarim you can 'accidentally' choose to get into trouble. Seeing as it was our own faults, Hestia wished to help him. She cut his binds herself. Unfortunately, she decided to do this in front of his enemies.
Our party might have ended in all of our deaths, that save, but it was unforgettable.
BG3 has done what few RPGs have been able to accomplish: allow players the ability to write their own stories.
I didn't feel like a player, I felt like a true working component of the game. Often times, when talking about player experience, you'll hear the words 'it felt real'. Hestia was real. The freedom and ability of me to choose details as small as the colour of her armour (gold and blue, as befitting a cleric), to selecting the little bits and bobs she'd put around her camp; all of it felt like a true release of control. A gift from the developers to myself, and every other player.
Tumblr media
It's so damn hard to create a game these days. Everything is predetermined, hard-baked into lines upon lines of code. Yet, developers are expected to create a system that allows players to move around freely. A contradictory task.
What Larian has done, is expand upon the traditional 'box' forumula that you must place players in. They've taken the power of narrative, and put it completely into the hands of the player to design the flow of the story for. You can choose where to go, you can choose who lives and dies, you choose the state of your world.
Perhaps, that's why I'll remember BG3 till my end days.
It wasn't a pre-written story that brought me to tears because of its Oscar-winning quality, but one that we gripped the reins of hard and steered ourselves towards outcomes that only we have ourselves to blame for. It's engaged me like no other game has, except perhaps since the early days of modding Skyrim to curate our perfect and unique experiences based on over 200 mods.
So, what now?
Now, we can only hope that other companies expand upon this. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, from the long Dragon Age RPG lineage, is slated to be released in the next few years. It, amongst many other games, will need to hold themselves up to this higher standard. One that, unlike other RPG titles released in the last three years, did not rely on DLCs or large patches in order to appeal to players.
The power of player narrative, its potential, and the manner of which game developers can go about utilising it, has now been put into full view. Now, more than ever, companies must reconsider the amount of priority they want to put onto marketing their games, verus actually making them. With the current player numbers and profits made from BG3, perhaps, they will finally be convinced.

current tierlist! all in relation to one another. i'm still working on the more detailed reviews for each & i'm very sleepy atm, but here's the gist:
S TIER - YAKUZA 0:
the story was well done! i really loved each character and how everything came together by the end. it was really impressive how they managed to foreshadow so much within the first chapter, only ever expanding off of what was already introduced. even as the story continued, there still left enough doubt in each player's mind to wonder if there's another factor/motivation they haven't yet found out, really putting them in the place of each protagonist. the game did well with handling two protagonists, and the culmination of their overlapping arcs was very interesting to see - even if it was something the player already assumed, it wasn't frustrating seeing the characters in the moment not realize its true importance... you looked forward to seeing how it'd be revealed to them. as this prequel was made in retrospect, i understand there are some characters/systems they cannot carry over due to the limitations of the first few games without creating inconsistencies. however, my main critique was a narrative choice toward the end which was needlessly tragic. more salt in an already-existing wound, when this incident could very well have been pushed off - especially with pre-existing chronic conditions the character in question had, and the fact this moment was precisely what had been driving the entire story. i am not particularly disappointed with how it ended, but i do feel that there was much more that could've been done before jumping to the next act. it was admittedly disappointing, and something i preemptively feared the story would do. while i enjoy dark/emotional topics, this felt like a senseless, unsatisfactory narrative choice that could've been easily avoided or explained away. however, with the story choice they took, i appreciate their confidence in how they used this to wrap up the story. overall very good! characters were definitely its strong suit and they created a lot of interesting dynamics.
A TIER - YAKUZA 3:
again, characters were the main draw of this one!! i enjoyed the mystery of the first arc, and how the tension steadily built as we finally got to see the effects of yakuza on civilian life. it was nice seeing how characters took yakuza loyalty to heart - even to the point of doing the horrible things they ended up doing, against the wishes of the very one they're devoted to, if it's for their 'health' ... that sort of dynamic is always interesting to me. i liked seeing another aspect of kiryu's compassion here, and i'm always a fan of older mentor figures giving advice to younger ones who look up to them. with the nakahara family as well as those within the orphanage, i feel it did a wonderful job establishing kiryu's experience & his new goals outside of the yakuza. it's very nice seeing him settled down and feeling so much more joyous/thankful - especially with everything else he's already gone through, it feels like. a well-deserved break, and it's nice seeing him fight for something that isn't necessarily what the tojo clan asks of him, but something he personally chose. it just happened to fall in line with the tojo's priorities, meaning he's of use... my main gripe with this game, despite how much i enjoyed it, was the ending & how the yakuza games treat disabilities as temporary (makoto & saki). but i will mainly focus on the ending for now: it was very cheap to kill someone as soon as they came to the realization of how much harm they've done. i will not dig into every last detail here, but i feel as if it would've added much more to keep this character around for a longer amount of time to grow as a person and possibly fuel further (eventual) internal conflict for the clan if the chairman recognized points of contention. we have seen how ruthless this antagonist can be, and letting them return to the clan with a new perspective in mind could've really improved making the games feel connected & create natural conflict for future games considering what we already know about this character & the lengths they can go to.
C TIER - YAKUZA 2:
interesting concept, poor execution... it wasn't necessarily terrible, but the characters weren't as compelling as they could've been to make me care for furthering the story, and i had been stuck with knowing (some of) the twists from the earliest chapters, where... this story definitely relied heavily on the air of mystery over all else. you can definitely tell y0 was made after a few of these yakuza games with how they've improved their storytelling, because this just. did not live up to its potential. i liked the remaining dojimas & it was fascinating seeing kiryu realize how wrong he's been due to his trust of people, but still choosing to accept the responsibility of what comes with more caution rather than giving up entirely. majima was a treat here, & i did enjoy seeing his story through. he really is a man of extremes when it comes to that malicious compliance, and i really did enjoy how he naturally tied into this + his assumptions were justified due to previous experience being manipulated by people within the omi alliance. the recontextualization of y0 made this match up very well i always like seeing moments where he's more perceptive than he usually lets on. (& this may just be me, but the mafia they were against felt a bit. more like caricatures than people with a drive/resolve to thrive against hardship - partially because we weren't even given reason why they chose to form here, or how the yakuza previously wronged them to make them charge so heavily. especially after the treatment of other asian countries in y0, even if they were foreign mafia, this gave me a lot of whiplash...)
D TIER - YAKUZA 1: cw for spoilers & brief reference of sexual assault
not in F because we meet haruka... but everything else really does feel a bit cliche and the descent of [main antagonist] just made me feel like this
Tumblr media
corruption arcs can be really good! i usually really love reading up on them, but... this particular one felt very forced. i feel like there was more that could've been done to prove how the remaining yakuza were pushing nishiki's paranoia over what kiryu would do once he left, pushing him to doubt kiryu (despite him. going to jail for him), and if there was more given over how he became possessive and demanding over time, eventually culminating in another impulsive murder where he realizes... he can't go back, and then loses those morals entirely if only to keep himself & yumi safe, damn whoever gets in the way, then. it'd work much better because he's now become someone who he would've once considered worthy of death, as dojima's possessiveness was, but he's more 'righteous' now. there was some pushing from others for him to be better, some shows of manipulation, but never quite enough specifically centered around kiryu as to 'prove' he couldn't trust him. i also feel that jingu was a very. poor replacement. this sounds. horrible, but i believe yumi's disconnect with haruka would've been better off if haruka was dojima's daughter. this would also contribute to why she visited her under an alias, as well as the idea that kazama & yumi felt the need to hide haruka from tojo/nishiki, for fear of his reaction. as yumi begins to recognize nishiki's becoming more of a lone conspirator, maybe if she's again been put in harm's way under threat for the nishikyama family, that's when she abandons him for a safer life with kazama's help. but because nishiki's had to take up kiryu's mantle, prove he's much more than kiryu could've been, he can't follow yumi into a peaceful life and resents her for that as well. for abandoning him, too, and instead going to kiryu who took the fall for both of them. kiryu just always has to be better, doesn't he? & that's also why nishiki ends up surveying kiryu as soon as he leaves, because he's searching for yumi through him because. even in the end, they're inseparable. and kiryu hasn't changed in the least: he still wants to trust both of them, as deceitful as they've become. (though both disallow people to be close to them anymore; yumi's is more for safety, nishiki's is because he's. lost & is actively destroying his support system lol) maybe, nishiki works with jingu's information network to try to find yumi again, not realizing that jingu would accept this because he'd also realized the tojo clan was suffering after being stolen from - he didn't know this guy knew that, meaning he was putting yumi in more danger when he gave him the money for his silent search. yumi stole the money for when nishiki's finally disposed of (he's painted a target on his back, begun to brute force things as kiryu had), so she can send haruka somewhere safer (if kiryu's still out of the life, then with him; even sera would be a better choice considering how calculating he can be & carefully hide her w people loyal to him alone), etc. etc. there are still ways to tie him into this and be so selfish, but. honestly, i feel like his corruption arc is a bit more nonsensical than nishiki's already. nishiki's constantly in an incredibly stressful environment and lured in by greed/praise/allure of safety, but jingu had. solely wanted money. no other factor. if he went into the business looking for money, he'd stay looking for money... nothing out of the ordinary there, is it. we already have nishiki betraying the people he loves, we don't need this business man out here too. but. to do all that, it requires upheaving most of the story. and it is not the game we get, sadly. so here it remains.

All the World’s Monsters Readthrough
The following has not been proofread. It may contain typos, I may use the same words or phrases too many times, and so on. Tumblr also removes a lot of formatting such as underlines. Maybe I'll fix or update it in the future; maybe I won't. (Things like underlining being removed is beyond my control.) If there are serious corrections as regards facts presented, I will definitely amend such points. Please feel free to comment such corrections; or any comments at all. I want to read through with all of you!
All the World’s Monsters:
A Readthrough, Part I
Longwinded Introduction
This is a feature I’ve been wanting to work on for quite some time. Originally I wanted to write it with another person, and had various ideas on how that would work, but that didn’t happen. It’s a readthrough of the world’s first monster collection for an RPG. That I’m aware of, anyway - there very well might be some obscure or unsung prior volumes on the same topic(at the very least, perhaps zine monster collections?). I’m talking about Chaosium’s All the World’s Monsters. It’s an interesting book for sure, in a number of ways.
For one thing, not so much had become standardized. What information was important to know about a monster might vary by personal taste or by the specific version of the game being played. All the World’s Monsters was released after Holmes Basic but before the AD&D Monster Manual, which was the first of the AD&D books to be released(because I guess they figured people could still use the monster stats with other versions of the game while they completed the other core books).
Holmes Basic, for those unaware(and I won’t go into it too far because you can find plenty of histories on this out there with all the detail you’d like - skip this paragraph if you know about this already), was created as a way of introducing people to the D&D game as presented in the original white box set and Supplement I: Greyhawk. It was also a way of teaching people how to put those pieces together, or at least, one of the ways to do it, since the white box game was sort of all over the place, and difficult for people to grasp - especially if they had no prior boardgame knowledge beyond Monopoly and no wargaming knowledge. It kind of assumed you knew a lot of terms of general procedures for the more advanced board games and such, and that you would otherwise fill in the blanks. Holmes Basic did that for you. Furthermore, and it’s my understanding that this was more of a “Gygax shoehorning stuff he wanted in” aspect, but there are a few references to AD&D concepts and even the game itself, such as the exhortation to purchase AD&D if you wished to know how to have exotic characters like halfling thieves, or progress beyond 3rd level. (With the OD&D books you could do that anyway, and this was just a sales pitch.) It also introduced something closer to AD&D’s alignment system, except that you couldn’t play any neutral character besides a true neutral one: no neutral good, no chaotic neutral(there goes half my players!).
There’s a lot to say about this version of the game, and some people play this one exclusively, even coming up with retroclones such as Blueholme! And some of what I have to say on it will be relevant, because All the World’s Monsters was written with the assumption that Holmes Basic reflected the standard we would be seeing from that point on, including little oddities never to appear in any other edition or version of D&D ever again!
Another thing that makes the book so intriguing is, being the first of its kind, there were so many monsters out there that hadn’t been statted yet - at least in a published book that others could look at and draw inspiration from. So until they got statted in AD&D’s Deities and Demigods, who could argue, “officially,” how many hit dice a shoggoth should have, what its AC should be, and so on? The original books gave no stats for any kind of sphinx - what would an androsphinx’s HD be? Same as a lion? More? What’s a lion’s HD anyway? Spotted lions are listed in the OD&D encounter tables, but there are no statistics for them(in the white box set, anyway). Or how about an elephant - how many HD should it have? What should its AC be? While the white box told us that rocs are sometimes large enough to prey on elephants(an incredible concept rendered rather banal now by overuse), it didn’t tell us what statistics an elephant should have. How would you stat it, without peeking at your MM?  Guess, what would you give them? Highlight the following for the answer:
Tumblr won't allow me to set text to white because why would it? I'm leaving the "highlight the following line" bit out of stubborness at not allowing the formatting I require. (11 HD, AC 6)
So at that time, there were a myriad animals and monsters that had never before seen print in the form of D&D/AD&D statistics. This gives a lot of room for creativity - you couldn’t look at some other book and say “Gee, I gave this monster 9 HD, but the official ones are 4/this unofficial supplement gives them 5. Did I overrate them that badly?” Maybe so, maybe not.
Statting animals and monsters is more art than science, though there’s some of that, too. The fact is, these are fairly arbitrary measures, and if you attempt to work out the official stats and come up with some kind of formula, you’ll drive yourself insane. Many things in the game, admittedly, were varied for the sake of variation. Weapon damage, for instance, was stated to have been made up for the purpose of variety - there’s no real reason that one weapon causes 2d4 while another causes 1d8 other than providing a wide spread of different dice types and combinations for weapons. (Yes, 2d4 gives you a bell curve with average score of 5 and a minimum score of 2, but the reason for this wasn’t because the weapon itself logically should, but rather to provide a variation.) I suspect that wolves being described as far smaller than they actually are was for a similar reason - wanting lower-level characters to be able to fight creatures that low-level monsters(goblins) often ride, but also to offer dire wolves, wargs, etc as upgrades. (Which still could have been done with properly-sized wolves, so maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree…)
Not only were so many animals and monsters unstatted, but again - formatting, and even rules weren’t fully codified or formulated yet. To some degree, many wouldn’t be until 3e made a concentrated effort to make everything formulaic with very specific processes and rules for everything, as well as to “balance” every monster and class, a task monumentally failed. As a good example of the lack of cohesion, look up monsters that strangle or drown and see how many different ways it’s done. I’m not saying this to knock the “old way” - there’s a reason I play old versions of D&D almost exclusively. Restricting yourself with unnecessary formulas and intricate templates is not typically of benefit, and having the flexibility to model things in different ways is superior to having to consult a list of codified formulas to make sure everything adds up.
But at this stage, even some of the few things that became standards had yet to come into play. In most instances, there were no examples to follow to determine, say, how almost any given special ability a creature might have should be modeled. So even this had to be determined by what were essentially fans writing for their favorite game.
As you can see, this was an exciting time, and an incredible opportunity - to set in black & white, in numbers, all the different things that D&D/AD&D classifies as “monsters” - anything that isn’t a PC! Setting down on paper, for the first time, so many different monsters. Devising rules for powers and abilities that nobody had created(at least publically available) rules for. Incorporating rules that would only exist for one basic introductory iteration of the system. (Not that they knew that!) Having the chance to determine formatting and all kinds of things that nobody had yet done.
Worlds and cosmoses full of things that still needed to be expressed in numbers and ability descriptions were waiting to be codified. This was, in fact, one of my misconceptions about the book when I purchased it - I thought it was more like Monsters of Myth and Legend by Mayfair as part of their Role Aids line, where they went through all different world mythologies and folklore in order to stat out all the various legendary monsters. All the World’s Monsters was really just a compilation of monsters submitted to Chaosium, and most of them are provided by but a handful of people - but we’ll explore that as we get into the actual readthrough.
Book Description
Tumblr media
The first thing one will notice, besides for the eye-catching red background with stark black art, is that it’s sideways. It’s designed to be flipped or turned “up” from the bottom, so the spine is to the top. Similarly, the back cover is read sideways, spine upwards. I don’t need to do a critique or commentary on the art here; it’s pretty cool. I’m pretty uncritical of art, especially in low-budget/indie publications, and especially if the content is otherwise good.
To the back cover, we’re told the book is “an encyclopedia of the strange, the bizarre, and the deadly,” with “265 monstrous and dangerous creatures,” all by creators from the North American continent(or at least, most of it). We’re given sample stats for a kodiak bear - remember, there weren’t(to my knowledge) stats for any bears yet. (I didn’t consult the back cover before writing the bit about bears, previously.) Actually, we’re given the description, not the full stats - so we can’t read through and critique a set of stats just yet! But there’s an interesting part even here.
Tumblr media
For instance, the description mentions that the kodiak can “fight at full efficiency so long as it has one-fourth of its hit points left.” There were some optional rules in OD&D that included dexterity reductions and various penalties at different percentages of HP loss. Such rules are difficult to implement, particularly at low levels, when a small hit will often take 75% of a PC’s HP, and adds yet another element(or two or three or four) to track. Regardless, people surely used those rules, and I imagine this part of the description was a special ability that applied only to those using these kinds of rules.
A kodiak mother gains bonuses in combat to protect her young and kodiaks have a chance of a hug attack, nothing too noteworthy or mind-blowing.
We end with a note about this being the third printing(it’s what I’ve got), there being another volume out, and a third on the way, and a line about the editors. Steve Perrin is one of them, and the blurb mentions that he’s the “co-author of RuneQuest,” a game I like very much, personally. Then some info about Chaosium and where you can write for info and so on.
The book itself is 109 pages, with the last 3 pages unnumbered, as they are tables, specifically, a monster level chart, to help with placing the monsters found in the book on the appropriate dungeon level, and a table for creating random monsters. Perhaps we’ll roll up a few in a future installment for fun.
The Book’s Introduction Page
Opening the cover we get a title page and introduction. If you thought the sideways book was just a feature of the cover - it’s not. The whole book is like this. And I have to say, I tried to be open minded about it. I told myself “You’re using it the same as you’d use any book except for how it’s turned, it doesn’t actually make any difference.” I hate when something is done in a new way and everyone rejects it because it’s different. While I can see the flaws in it, I really loved the Monstrous Compendium stuff made with hole-punched pages for sorting in a looseleaf binder. I feel like it failed less because of the flaws in it and more because it seemed too different, and was simply dismissed out of hand. So I try really hard not to do that.
But the format really bugs me.
Moving on to the introduction, I have to wonder how close this is to whatever introduction was originally written, since it opens by mentioning that this is the third printing. Mr. Perrin goes on to tell us that it was made for “games such as Dungeons & Dragons, Tunnels & Trolls, and the Arduin Grimoire.”
I have a few comments on this. Originally I wanted to say it was neat how this early one could simply reference D&D like that without a problem, but apparently the book did, in fact, cause a stir with TSR. I have not listened to the linked podcast, but the description says that this was the case. Once this readthrough is complete, I’ll go back and listen to the podcast; I’d like to get my own impressions, and maybe make a few guesses at some things, and see if I’m right or how much my ideas mesh with what they say.
Tunnels & Trolls(another game I quite like) is interesting since it didn’t really have monster stats, so using these in that game would be more for descriptive flavor.
As for the Arduin Grimoire, for those unaware, it was originally written as a sort of expansion and add-on to OD&D. This, too, caused problems, and it eventually became its own game(despite never playing it, its monster the “vampusa” remains a favorite of mine to this day). Gary Gygax mocked it in the form of a cursed item in AD&D, a book that drives the reader insane(one might have assumed it was a Lovecraft inspired item, but its inspiration was pure spite).
It goes on to tell us that they have 50,000 monsters, and how they might not use yours and how they chose the ones that went in here, info about the art, where to mail feedback about the monsters you want to see. What’s of real interest here is the mention that Dave Hargrave and Paul Jaquays gave them permission to use some of their own copywritten monsters, but these had to be removed due to space limitations. They then recommend Mr. Hargrave’s Arduin Grimoire(I’m sure that helped endear them to TSR), among other things, as well as several publications by Jaquays. These were presumably the publications from which the monsters would have been taken, and we’re told they will be in future volumes of AtWM.
Table of Contents
Skimming through, there are some really neat looking ones.
Archer bush? That was a later Mystara monster adapted into 2nd ed and currently 5e(not sure if it was in 3e or 4e or not and don’t particularly care). Sometimes it’s hard to say if multiple people had the same idea or one ripped the other off. Especially in this early time when lots of people were putting out monsters and few had previously, people were bound to have similar if not identical ideas. Such things have happened in much less likely circumstances.
Some very odd ones right off the bat. Snake ape? On the other hand, things like “air squids” are why I read these kinds of collections.
Batarang. Was DC ever notified of this infringement?
Plenty of slimy monsters: blue horror(which I’m guessing is a slime-type?), red blob, maybe “brown ich?,” gelatinous blue horror(maybe the original isn’t a slime after all), green slime golem. Eh, maybe not as many as I thought. We’ll get a better idea as we read through them, I don’t want to spend all day browsing the contents. And neither do you, I’m sure!
Vampire bear. Heh. Brain stealer(geteit chemosit). Is that German? I feel like I’ve seen other monsters in here with similar names. Will have to see if that’s true and if they’re written by the same author.
Carnivorous… typo? Carnivorous typo. Typo, carnivorous. Are you serious? If this doesn’t end up being some kind of meta monster I’m going to be quite disappointed.
Here’s another thing about the formatting. It makes sense as a normal book, in that one column continues in the column to its right. But because of the formatting of the book, you expect it to continue down the column on the next page below it. It’s a small thing, honestly, but it’s noticeable.
A lot of monsters that would see official stats later, as expected. Crocotta, cyclops, various demons - but no devils! There’s a “sun devil,” but since there’s no “devil” category I figure it’s a devil in the way a tasmanian devil is a devil - in a non-literal sense. It looks like there are some traditional powerful monsters from myth and legend among the demons, as Ymir(“Prince of Ice Demons”) is one of them, and some of these others may turn out to be similar things - it’s hard to tell from the names, such as “serpent king” and “twelfth plane,” which yes, is the name of a demon. As three demons are listed as “ice,” I imagine they were going more for a frozen Hell as opposed to a fiery one, which would be why they used Ymir instead of Surtr. The latter would have been a much more obvious choice, being a fiery giant who is to burn the universe to ashes as the grand finale of the final conflict between good and evil(yes I’m simplifying it, this isn’t a mythology lesson).
A good number of golems, including diamond, dust, the aforementioned green slime, ice(unusual but not impossible in a magical world, or in frozen places, where they’d be quite evocative), quicksilver(which would also appear in Mystara as simply “silver golems”), wood(ditto), and oddest of all - tar.
Ground octopus, like “air squid,” is the kind of thing I read these books for. Again, there’s kind of a similar monster in Mystara, the decapus, which tends to live in trees. Personally, my favorites are the octorocks of the Legend of Zelda series. While mentioning both air squids and video games, I’ll throw in that the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 featured flying squids as well. I should also mention that I haven’t played video games in 30 years, so I will routinely recall things like this and not the 3,000 instances of them that have likely appeared in video games in the interim.
I never thought I’d see triffids in a monster book. I love it! Some Lewis Carrol monsters, some from myth and legend, such as the “three sons of Argatron.” I had to look that up, by the way, as it sounded historical but I wasn’t sure. Google corrected me to some random other word first, and then when I insisted that it search for what I actually typed, it pulled the legends right up. I didn’t read them though; we’ll do that when we get to the entry! Man-Scorpion, another monster not yet statted. As far as I know, they’re usually called “scorpion men,” so the formatting of “man” first is an unusual coincidence and I wonder if there was some famous or classical text popular at the time that used that form. At any rate, it says “see Humbaba,” who, if I’m not terribly wrong, was not a scorpion man.
There are several Lovecraftian things, including stats for Nyarlathotep. I believe I have probably 3 or 4 sets of stats for him, for various editions of D&D, and I look forward to contrasting them all and seeing how they compare, especially this earliest one to, say, the newest one I have. Of course, being published by Chaosium, they had the rights to these monsters.
Not so much the olog-hai, which was a direct property of the Tolkien Estate. If “hobbit,” a word Professor Tolkien did not even invent, had to be removed from early versions of D&D, one must imagine that the only reason the same didn’t occur here is that this book flew under their radar. (In fact, I believe hobbits were removed by choice, in order to prevent future legal issues, but this is another point I could be quite wrong on.)
Let’s move on and not spend all day speculating and rambling about a table of contents, shall we?
Creators
I don’t want to add up the number of creators used, as many are combinations of creators and so forth. Dan Pierson created the largest number of monsters, with 28 entries printed in the book. It seems like the average is about a dozen or a bit less, just glancing at the numbers and guessing. If someone cares enough to do the math, have fun.
One little point is the last line: “There are 265 entries and 113 cross-references.” So out of these monsters, almost half of them are related to(in some way or another, whether as biologically related, as enemies, or whatever) others. If that’s what it means, that would make some sense given that some creators contributed a dozen or more monsters, and there’s often going to be such connections(such as someone creating a number of “ice demons”). This kind of thing is good, as it can be incorporated to give the denizens of your world, and your world by extension, more of a feeling of depth and history, that these monsters have relations, alliances and rivalries, and aren’t just a set of numbers.
“Interpreting the Monster Entries”
An explanation of what the stats mean and so forth. There are a few points of interest here. They mention that random numbers are “expressed as die rolls,” in case you played D&D and somehow didn’t know what 3d6 meant. This is great though, as it saves the trouble of figuring out what to use to determine 3-6(it’s 1d4+2). There are reasons that Gygax chose to express numbers as, say, the aforementioned 3-6 instead of 1d4+2, which was to emphasize that the numbers were important and not how they were generated, opening people up to new dice rolling conventions and so forth. Unfortunately, what it mostly did was confuse people with some of the more difficult to interpret number ranges.
We’re told that intelligence is abbreviated as IQ(as it is in the later GURPS) and expressed as a die roll - so instead of being told “very” or given a specific number, we’re given dice to roll to determine the intelligence of any given monster. (I do this in my own games and monster stats, so it’s nice to see someone else doing this a number of years before I was capable of playing.)
Most of the rest of the explanations are mundane and not worth reviewing, it’s basic information.
One thing it doesn’t bother to explain or mention is the fact that it has a dexterity range for each monster in the same way it has an IQ range. Here, dexterity is abbreviated DEXT., which makes me wonder if the DEX abbreviation had been used yet on character sheets or was still a little bit away? Remember, this book was released after Holmes Basic and before a single AD&D book, including the first AD&D book released, the Monster Manual.
More importantly than the abbreviation is why that was there. It was there because in Holmes Basic, the melee combatants attack in order of dexterity, regardless of who won initiative or initiated combat. The Holmes book mentions the question of “who strikes the first blow?” as one unresolved in OD&D, which seems very odd. OD&D never really explained initiative at all, and expected you to default to Chainmail order of initiative. It may have not expected you to use the combat “phases,” but just the die mechanic that determined which side acted first - that being a d6 and the higher goes first. Later versions would have the lower roll act first, with the option to positively/detrimentally modify the roll by weapon speed. There is mention that dexterity might affect various things including initiative, but there’s no exact rule explaining how. Most people just assumed that the one with the initiative attacked first, and this was how the game has been played, for the most part, ever since(and I imagine, for most, during and before, as well). Personally, I think it’s great, and would enjoy trying the rule out. I favor using phases and aspects of combat that add some amount of strategy, where “I run up and attack” can often be detrimental to waiting for a more opportune moment and so forth. I’d prefer the combat phases, and have played with them for many, many years, but I’d be quite open to the Holmes Basic version of combat. (Someone want to run it for me?)
As yet another digression, it’s funny how often I’ve played games with people that ran their system of choice for decades, sometimes since the game was released, and never knew how initiative actually worked in said system. People get so used to it working a certain way in lots of games, and they either never consult the rule in their own game, or forget it and replace it in their mind with another. I’ve played in multiple Marvel Super Heroes games where everyone rolled a d10 for initiative, and when I pointed out it was one die per side, the judges in each case looked at me quizzically and then continued doing it how they had been doing it forever. The fact that they had been performing the most basic part of their favorite game wrong for 30+ years was too much to consider so it was simply dismissed.
And with that, I’ll wrap this first entry. I hope it wasn’t too boring - I know I ramble and digress, but it’s kind of part of the point I suppose. I hope you’ll stick with me for the monsters, even if you found this part kind of weak, and that you’ll let me know what you think, as well, because I want to go over this with you, not just read a review to a brick wall. It’s not a review, it’s a readthrough, me and you, if you please.
So.
Let’s read All the World’s Monsters together!

What is a First-person game? - A first-person game is a game where you cannot see your character from behind, above, or in front. You can only see through the eyes or near the head. A first-person game does not have to be from the eyes as it can be from a camera view like a GoPro attached to the chest or head. First-person games are made to add a more realistic feel of what the character is actually seeing and not from an overview. Players enjoy this aspect of games more than third-person games but as we know people have their own preferences.
Sons of the forest:
Tumblr media
Sons of the Forest is an interesting game when it comes to survivability. It has very realistic cutting mechanics. Building mechanics if you wish as well. Cannibals were an interesting addition to this game as it gives a player a reason to be more cautious and weary when to head back to a safe place.
Grand Theft Auto V
Tumblr media
When GTAV added first person it was a very good choice as the environment of the game is already very immersive and as they added first-person it allows the player to see what the character sees so they cannot peak around walls from their camera view when it is behind the character but will be leaning on the wall if they are hiding. When driving cars, in a gun fight, fist fight, swimming, etc. the views are limited due to being locked on the character's eyes.
Dying light 2 stay human
Tumblr media
This game has a very stressful environment with the constant noises of humanity collapsing and the zombies taking over. If the player makes a sudden noise there is a sound queue of zombies breaking out and dashing toward where the sound occurred. The climbing and first-person works really well on this game especially with the pressure of the zombies chasing you if you are in a chase. Even so, you'd be hoping you haven't been spotted. The combat is very satisfying and smooth here and there it can have improvements when it comes to dodging as it can lock your camera. But the impact noises, damage dealt to the enemies and visual effects are so satisfying.
Subnautica Below Zero
Tumblr media
This game was and still is a masterpiece to me. I love the atmosphere this game gives, it's completely unique with creature noises which either can sound very peaceful or wish you hell. I am personally horrified by the ocean and what COULD be under the depths. So this game is extremely horrifying to me but I enjoy it nevertheless. I cannot imagine this game working in third person, it simply would not be the same.
High on Life
Tumblr media
This game is interesting and full of entertainment. You can do actions that the game will comment you on. If you are asked to leave a room and do not, the talking gun will call you out on it over time, make fun of you, etc. This gives the game some creativity and uniqueness which is always good to get from games that aren't bland.
Phasmophobia
Tumblr media
This is a ghost-hunting game where you do not exorcise the ghost but simply find out what type of ghost it is. You can anger the ghost by using your own microphone to call out its name and ask for its age, how it died, and where it is. Noise in this game has really added a lot more tension to the experience as it builds up if the ghost is angered or if you're in there for too long and you go insane.
Minecraft
Tumblr media
Minecraft cannot be left out as it's such a good game, especially for a first-person if the player decides to. It is a very simple concept of existing in a blocky world with wildlife and you need to survive by hunting, gathering resources, etc. The environment is basic but directive. It only has side noises like cave noises to give a "scare" which honestly still haunts me. other than that all the audio means something and should be able to figure out what it means after a second of it playing.
Mirrors Edge.
Tumblr media
Mirrors Edge has a unique parkour system that no game has ever implemented. This game is realistic and I have not seen any game purely focus on the movement of the character. Depends on how quickly you spin your mouse to look the other way while running can trip up your character. Landing on a inclined wall reduces fall damage compared to a flat surface. This game also implements close combat and gun combat. Close combat being disarming enemies, throwing punches, dodging attacks, etc.
Titanfall 2
Tumblr media
Titanfall 2 has a massive concept around being able to control mechanical titans to fight against your enemies. However you do not have access to the titan unless you have worked for it (killing things). The movement of the game contains wall running, ground sliding, dashing, etc. Giving the player a harder time in aiming at its target and giving the player a opportunity to dodge things.
Arma 3
Tumblr media
Arma 3 has gone for a hyper realistic feel for how a real war would go due to how long it takes for one match to finish. The game has a basic HUD to show what position your character is in (stand, crouch, prone). This game can be a lot more immersive when its multiplayer because players will not know much on where the enemies are unless the enemies make too much noise or the player is vigilant.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do games use music in their game?
All games use the music that it has differently. Some games are purely reliant on their songs because they are rhythm games. Some games use their music to make the player feel more powerful because everything is in sync with each other or they use music to give information about the character.
Friday Night Funkin'
Tumblr media
Friday Night Funkin' is a pure rhythm game that relies on music. The music in this game is unique because it is beatboxing that sounds like Morse code. This game uses arrow keys to play or WASD. I personally really enjoy rhythm games like this.
Osu!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Osu! has multiple gamemodes such as
Osu mania
Osu standard
Osu catch
Osu taiko
This game has a mode just like Friday Night Funkin' but the difficulty is much harder and you can change the key binds to your preference.
Guitar heroes
Tumblr media
This can be played on a guitar that is a controller which is what the game was made for however, you can still play on a keyboard. Guitar heroes mainly/only have guitar music like heavy metal/alternative rock.
Sound shapes
Tumblr media
In sound shapes, you hit these checkpoint-looking things and the music in the background gets an added instrument or beat and it all builds up until you reach the end of the level. This is a unique concept because I have never heard of a game with this idea.
Devils may cry 5
Tumblr media
This game makes you feel immersed and powerful due to the soundtrack on this game. Every time you enter in combat the character theme flows in without being too blunt and it really adds to the game's experience. The game has instrumental versions of the main theme to fit in until you reach a certain combo level is when they will add the lyrics.
DOOM
Tumblr media
This game makes you feel like the real deal when playing. The soundtracks completely fits in with the animations that play when taking down an enemy. It makes you feel as if you are invincible.
Metal gear rising revengeance
Tumblr media
The soundtracks throughout the game are amazing because the songs per level fit the environment. Especially on boss fights, when the main fight begins (when the boss reaches the second phase) lyrics are added to the song which hypes up the player and gets some adrenaline pumping.
Bilie bust up
Tumblr media
This game is a fighting game with only music. People fight using music/singing. This is a unique concept of how music can be interpreted into a game.
Rhythmia
Tumblr media
This game uses a 3x3 grid and all you need to do is aim at the blocks that are coming at you. You do not need to click you just need to wait for it to hit your mouse. The songs are completely in sync with the notes. It has multiple difficulty levels. Easy, Medium, Hard, LOGIC? and a symbol which I believe translates to CHAOS. I am too a big fan of this game.
Final fantasy
Tumblr media
Nothing to say about the music track here its simply phenomenal, and immersive and makes the combat feel more serious.

ZCode System Review 2023 – Is It Legit or a Scam?
Sports betting is a Form of investment because people get long term savings from sports betting, and someone can actually earn a fortune with Sports betting. There are many successful systems out there that will gain you results.  The Z code system is one of the most used and trusted systems ever since 1999. It has been there for a very long time and that is one of the reasons why it is a bestselling system when it comes to sports betting. As you take a plunge into the betting world, Z Code is one of the best systems to guide you around. The ZCode System was initially developed by Steve, Mike, and Ron, after years of research and development to make it a legit betting system. The system currently has an 86.5 percent success rate that has passed independent, third-party verification. If you don’t know much, about sports betting then this is the perfect place to start!
What sets the ZCode System apart from the rest is not only will it predict the results, but it will tell you why that prediction has been made based off mathematical data. The system uses a betting robot. The system uses math, statistics, and pattern recognition to identify patterns. No two seasons are easier to demonstrate how much Bungie had no long term plan for Destiny than Warmind and Plunder...
In Warmind you spent all season building up and improving Rasputin’s (an AI dedicated to protecting the solar system from alien threats) only for him to get decimated immediately and I wish I was kidding all our work was for nothing because they couldn’t be bothered to ask the question “What can we actually do to improve our odds? What if there was a way for the players to NOT get overshadowed and have their accomplishments equal zip?” None of it ever matters. Take the Black Armory which was supposed to reignite forges so every single civilian could have access to top quality weapons to defend themselves? Nothin’...
And Plunder which just ended deserves a teensy bit more context here than Rasputin ready? Short version Destiny’s overarching story is about our characters, Guardians the pseudo-immortal space magic heroes taking out impossible threats with cool powers and teamwork. The game takes place after “The Collapse” shocking name for the apocalypse anyway apparently the last Herald of Darkness the guy who personally destroyed our amazing civilization was called Nezarec, must be pretty powerful huh? Well Plunder was all about finding the pieces of his corpse because it should be wildly powerful and give us an edge we need... (despite well, how we SHOULD be prepared already) but no they ground up the corpse to make tea so we could wake up a once extremely important NPC Osiris from his coma I can’t stress enough that the newest super important mcguffin was used to revive a guy that lost his powers a freaking year ago. They’re clearly setting him up to be an advisor again but honestly? Why. By now we have so many characters that fulfill the “wise mentor” role and he’s been out of the game so long I can’t see him being all that relevant.
It’s very clearly a situation where Bungie is trying to drag our the games lifespan by selling seasons that don’t overlap or effect each other much to sell the game to new players.
Shameful really that they say there’s care for the narrative but at this point if you don’t see the paint peeling that’s on you.

The best explanation of Minecraft Server I have ever heard
The aim is for the crafted items to be aggressive will all but the better of the endgame gear, and perhaps even in some situations, provide a few of the perfect items, although I don't suppose I want to forged that as a definite in one route or one other and make some type of sweeping blanket statement. Now we have talked about it a few occasions, but it surely tends to be a type of issues that loses out in the precedence conversations. It's an ever extra aggressive market, although, so we will certainly continue to alter things up as and when we see match with a view to enchantment to the ever-growing and ever-more-demanding military of free players out there. However players on PS4, arguably the preferred present-gen console in the marketplace, will not be moved to Bedrock instantly. Nintendo's Satoru Iwata (right) publicizes mobile game partnership with DeNA. We're within the age of free-to-play proper now, so it is not a surprise that one recurring query was about whether or not we would finally see RIFT be a part of the ranks of the free.
May we choose one of those pre-current forms of PvP and do a more centered and modern up to date version of it? 1. Up to date the "Who's impacted?" section to incorporate mitigating elements based mostly on JDK model, while additionally suggesting other exploitation strategies as still prevalent. Adults who are suffering from autism. Nonetheless, each techniques are putting a premium on true experimentation and asking gamers to think and discover the system rather than simply read an ingredient listing. However, one important point is that we actually need to be able to avoid having to go down the entire pay-to-win path. If you do not have an present account, you may all the time create a free one and apply the codes from there. The staff is at present arduous at work on it so that we will launch it toward the tip of Q4. I do not assume you'll be able to hold it towards anyone, at the top of the day there have been very high expectations for that launch, and the original team fell just short of a few of those expectations. So - Short answer. In his free time you will discover him programming, designing theater lighting, flying planes, and creating brief films,' it adds.
Of course, once you build your machine, you will want to check it, because you have to be in a position to manage it as well, which adds an entire new layer to the crafting facet in Robocraft. That adds a layer of depth that you don't discover in the opposite fashionable MMOs that have used more simple listing kind crafting programs, the place you get the identical results all the time. That means we could use the identical Dreamworld characteristic in other ways, just as we will with the one server technology that is at the moment within the works. If you’d wish to try this out, you may sign up for Digital Ocean and use the promo code “twilio10” to receive $10 in credits to run your server. I know, I do know, Minecraft isn't technically an MMO, however when i watch my youngsters' cousins log into the Massively Minecraft server (no relation to the site) or watch my children arrange a LAN World, it positive seems to be like an MMO to me, so I am including it to the blender.
I do not think we ever set up to essentially have an equal variety of locations in every of the video games territories, partly for visible and cultural range and partly to cover some different ideas and concepts from Howard's Hyboria. So I determined to obtain the trial and arrange a multiplayer server to play with Emmett and seven year outdated sister Grace (right, hugging apples). Apple might lower its cost processing charges, which it's already performed for subscription providers and developers who ring up lower than $1 million in revenue annually. One of the things that shocked me once we first launched RIFT and were doing our personal research was the quantity of people that admitted they were earlier Sub-based players solely, who, in 2011 would now merely refuse to play any recreation that required a subscription. MMOs always evolve. That is without doubt one of the few constants within the style. But many kid-friendly MMOs lock gamers into inflexible paths that prevent that. At this point, there are not less than a dozen kinds of "PvP players" out there, who all have a tendency to describe themselves as "The PvP Player." People who assume arenas are the tip all be all, however want gear development.

Tumblr media
What is an online casino - In an online gambling establishment, Plus posting info on various topics. Previous posts have been mainly about sports activities betting, so I wish to post concerning online casinos this specific time. Online casinos are based on the Internet. Unlike prevailing offline casinos, this is a business structure of which includes games for instance Baccarat, slot machines, blackjack, and roulette on numerous on the internet casino sites. On-line casinos generally present the same probabilities as offline casinos in terms associated with odds, but sometimes the odds are usually better. This will be because every one of the elements shown in the game atmosphere of the real world casino are omitted, and you may play the overall game in your environment. Most online casinos support players to play games more comfortably by strengthening computer software technologies such while live dealers plus web cameras, which in turn are being searched and applied from time to time. The basic items you need to know any time playing s are as follows. 1 . On the internet casino operation method Online casinos are usually divided into two operating methods: one that uses just graphics as well as the various other that uses reside dealer video. Online casinos apply simply graphics are a method that draws outcomes according to typically the input of a new particular winning price, just like a slot machine. The point will be that the results of a player's gambling is not established by the specific game being played yet may alter from period to time relating to a specified successful percentage. In on-line casinos using live dealer's videos, typically the result of typically the already prepared playing cards is always the similar as the player's betting result. This means that the result is not arbitrarily afflicted, whether programmed or even manually. To present this does not really arbitrarily impact the gains, video companies are putting in more web digital cameras so that the particular player can see everything clearly, and even are working to be able to improve the quality regarding the video. two. Take advantage of membership bonuses and even advertisements There have been cases where putting your signature on up as some sort of member gave you a new sign-up bonus throughout the past. Even so, instead of running some sort of promo while having to pay a lot associated with bonuses, we happen to be providing the minimum rules to make use of these people. Due to unacceptable member subscribers seeking only bonuses, online casino operators have made a method called essential rolling. It is usually a system in which a player must meet a certain amount of game improvement to receive a bonus. Shields had been created to use some players' additional bonuses. Now, you are unable to be given a membership reward simply by signing upward as a fellow member, and the first deposit system has recently been introduced. Instead, the particular prize will get some sort of differential for your first of all deposit after signing up for as a participant. And also this cannot become withdrawn unconditionally in cash, and there is a condition that the essential rolling of 300~500% must always be met for every single user. For all additional bonuses, for example, in the event that the deposit volume is 100, 1000 won as well as the coming is 300%, the particular total bet amount must be hundred, 000 won 300% = 310, 000 won in order to receive various bonus deals. 3. Difference in between offline casino and online casino The essential rules of online casinos are typically the same as all those of offline casinos. However, because the video is applied, other restrictions may inevitably arise. Within Baccarat, players can only place wagers. There is simply no opportunity for players to touch in addition to open cards such as offline directly. A few online casinos may open the playing cards slowly and gradually with typically the click of any mouse button to feel typically the thrill of starting these cards, yet it has a moment limit and have to be performed very quickly. A spin occurs only when the particular player finishes bets at an established time in different roulette games. After a certain sum of time, the gamer can no lengthier place bets, and the live supplier proceeds with the spin. Offline, We can delay the particular spin to the seller if I terribly lack all the wagers I expected. 5. Top Cheating regarding Online Casinos Typically the most crucial aspect to consider when selecting an internet casino is the probability of withdrawal. Several online casinos may delay or stop withdrawals if a new player applies with regard to leave after enjoying the game plus winning. Of study course, you will discover cases where the withdrawal is usually blocked by violating the game bets rules announced by online casino or even by abusing typically the notice rules. Nevertheless, you can find cases wherever the retreat by itself is delayed in addition to blocked for numerous reasons, no matter the trigger. Players should work with good judgment and even choose an internet on line casino. Please take a new good look from the features regarding online casinos and enjoy the overall game. Only as every adventure has its strategy, so does Baccarat. Because if an individual play strategically like that, you then have a larger win rate intended for the game. Aren't used . also strategy of Baccarat, there is a way to spot bets by searching on the baccarat attracting board and the way to the actual process you possess in mind. To be able to briefly explain the particular strategy of Baccarat, most baccarat consumers often think regarding their desired concentrate on amount and enjoy the game. This is usually because they understand that the more the game is usually, the more disadvantageous they are if these people set this type of focus on amount. This can also be a technique. Because strategy is usually what you lead to by seeing a person act how we think that. Must-Know Baccarat Methods All baccarat consumers are familiar with the baccarat technique that must be known about the baccarat web-site, but it turns out that there are usually not many customers who put this into action. Because of this, I will recite by one the particular meaning of reproducing them an additional. Seeds money whenever possible My partner and i think all baccarat users know that seed money indicates your initial amount organised at the beginning of the particular game. Naturally , this cannot be be sure the more seed starting money you have got, the higher the win rate is going to be, but the problem on betting have to be kept in order to a minimum. If you play the game with 3, 000 won at the minimum table of one, 000 won or play a game with 30, 500 won, which sum is psychologically a lot more stable? Naturally , in case it is five, you will say that all columns will be 30, 000 was the winner. Even if you produce a minimum guess, playing a game with a small amount of seed starting money is translated as meaning that an individual do not possess that much potential for betting, and if you do not win in a new row, even in the event that you lose actually once, the burden of betting improves very much. Naturally. In order to prevent such a portion, you can take pleasure in the game more balanced if you participate in the sport with the particular maximum quantity of seed money which could produce psychological stability of which you can restore any time you have seeds money that supports you no issue how many instances you already know. 10% in order to 20% of the particular seed money since the maximum bet amount It is definitely true that in case there is a lot of seed money, the minds of a lot of users will be stable. Yet , this is one regarding the dangerous elements of Baccarat that bets change according to the personality and emotional state of customers. So I aren't judge right or even wrong, but just what I found after looking at the functions regarding a few users who often win while using the Baccarat is that regardless of angry the betting condition becomes, around 10-20% of the seedling money you already have A standard bet was found. In addition to I asked all of them about this commonality. Their response have been confirmed to reduce the blow plus wait only regarding the chance in order to win a streak. There are various variables in the game of Baccarat, but in spite of those variables, they will felt like that they were playing the particular game mechanically with out empathy for the game. If that doesn't work, take a break or don't perform the game that day. This is usually how everyone thinks. A lot of users who have fun Baccarat say this a lot. "If I lose this specific, I won't perform it today. inch However, from exactly what I saw together with my own eyes, the users who put that one word in to action showed that will it was tough to put into motion. If the sport doesn't turn out and about the method that you want it to, betting till it turns out there the method that you want that to be if you are lucky, it usually goes the way you want it to, but gowns not always the case. Therefore, in days when the particular game does not necessarily work well, it is strongly recommended to stop it as much as possible. Multiple Baccarat Strategies Betting on the blank baccarat panel It may end up being said to get a reckless method, however in fact, this strategy would have been a technique used by many users. Even within Baccarat's drawing board, there is some thing called a pattern. On the other hand, if you follow such a pattern, you often consider it a chance and split it when a person create a bet. In case you think of a chance on typically the baccarat board typically the other way around, it implies an option from the casino's point of see. However, rather than longing for such a new chance bet, this is recommended simply by several experts being a wise strategy to be able to think and bet just like a chance gamble on a picture together with nothing. This method changes depending on the end user. It mainly appears at the amount of burning greeting cards and bets upon the player and also the banker if the particular number is also along with the banker if the number is definitely odd, or perversité versa, or the player or the particular banker based on whether the card is definitely red or black colored. Fixed betting technique It will get a strategy in order to set the amount of money and bet simply the fixed volume you think throughout any section. This particular betting technique is known as the so-called living dead betting, and this will become a slang word created within the sense involving never dying. In the same course of action, the actual experts said that it truly is a single of the strategies that will not go all-in. 샌즈카지노
