idk if this is still the case but when i was really In It in animorphs feelings a couple years ago because i was unemployed for the first time in my adult life / temporarily living alone in the last house my family lived in / freaking out about climate change / generally Going Through It, and like poking around the animorphs scene on tumblr, there was this notion commonly expressed that rachel and tobias were "toxic," the major piece of evidence for which was the scene in 33 where she "tries to trap him in human morph." which like first of all i'm SOOOOOO SORRRY that the fucking fifteen-year-olds secretly fighting a guerrilla war in which their greatest threat is the mind-controlling slugs they're trying to save humanity from but their second greatest threat is the diminishing hourglass of their collective sanity as they all have to work steadily harder and more desperately to not just completely lose their shit entirely from all the violence and literal 24/7 constant threat and murder that is happening, like i'm sorry two literal children who have managed in this ongoing horror show to forge a bond of loyalty and affection and care and attraction and understanding that can act as a kind of solace neither of them have any other way to access, sorry those actual murder babies sometimes have some communication problems. lmao. but also it's insane to me that people read that scene (in which they're dancing to, i'm not making this up, iris by the goo goo dolls - i mean they don't tell us the song but it's a slow goo goo dolls number that even tobias knows, so - they're dancing to iris by the goo goo dolls at a school dance that is not going well because they are both awkward about the newfound public Officialness of their relationship and rachel who is the only one of them who has ever been capable of socializing like a normal person is in a particularly bad mood because of the emotional hangover of her starfish adventure [great concept executed terribly in the previous book], and then like after two entire minutes of letting himself feel some nice emotions tobias spots the clock and starts leaving to go demorph and then rachel runs after to him to awkwardly attempt to share that she is very fucked up about how insane she has become and she wants to hold on to things like school dances and also this is all happening in a hallway by a student poster on red tailed hawks that states their lifespan of a handful of years in the wild, it's so good) as rachel trying to trap tobias in morph, when like, first of all, "good thing happening -> time to punish myself for feeling nice for 5 whole seconds " is like THEE tobias thought pattern because he's the number one kidlit trauma baby of all time, like truly the first time i dove back into the series i was struck by how well his narrative voice captures Child Of Insane Family Dysfunctionality, he is NOT a reliable narrator on this, but also second, and more saliently, like, believing this scene is rachel attempting to trap tobias in morph requires that you believe rachel, all by herself, made a plan in advance and then attempted to execute it, which is a skill we literally never see her demonstrate even one fucking time outside of the comfortingly familiar hunting ground of the mall
#animorphs#i have a hard visceral aversion to personally adopting ADHD headcanons in general#(you do you idc about people's headcanons but like#this is one that reliably does not do it for me [person with ADHD] and which also often makes me feel weird for vague reasons#but again like this is not an Argument or a Criticism have your fun it's simply not for me)#BUT. someone once said they headcanon rachel as ADHD.#and that is... the ONLY time i have ever read that and been like 'oh wow no okay yeah that tracks'#which honestly thinking on it now i feel like sort of helps me articulate why i'm usually like 'her?'#bc i feel like i tend to see it as like 'this would be cute/relatable/fun to project on to' (you do you not for me)#or i see it based on like... a perception of general ADHD Vibes#which like. on the one hand i get. there can be Vibes. there's a reason the set of people i Enjoy A Lot has ADHD overrepresented on it.#but personally i am like. but where are the scenes of them ruining their own life for reasons attributable to ADHD traits#i don't personally get anything out of lumping people into a DSM category with me if they are not also constantly ruining their own lives#like i can just relate to them because we have similar Vibes. that's plenty.#but rachel.................#the scenes of rachel constantly ruining her own life because of her inability to think for 5 seconds before speaking or acting ever. like.#that's in every book rachel ever has#she literally has a line at one point like 'i don't know why i say these things. they just pop out of my stupid mouth.' girl same...#anyway. speaking of ADHD. i have GOT to stop letting myself 'just check tumblr a little bit' while i'm waiting for the adderall to hit

Steggy Week Day 1 - Meta
@steggyfanevents and everyone else pls accept my late offering of brainrot ranting into the void
Peggy's face says so much during the Endgame dance it's insane. It's such a contrast to Steve, who is very expressive yeah but he's really just showing one thing - that he's peaceful (if anything his eyesbrows are drawn in a little but it's just concentration, not any uncertainty like Peggy has). There's not as much going through his head because he's dealt with all of this already. He already wrapped his mind around every factor of what got him to this point, he's just savoring the moment now that he finally can. Peggy's only had the last few minutes. Of course whatever happened when she opened the door is up to everyone's headcanons, but he had to give her something good enough to convince her. Personally I think when they were dancing, he hadn't explained much yet. He just convinced her it was him by telling her something only he would know. He'll get to the 70 year nap and aliens and time traveling later lol I think he wanted to ease her into it as much as possible. Because the door is still open I really think it was just "Oh my god what the hell -> wait I can prove it (with something only Steve would know 100%) -> we've waited long enough for our dance -> ok but actually what the hell??" which leads to the entire explanation after they dance
Regardless of what Peggy knew while they danced, she hadn't had long to process it at ALL. And you can see that. She's not simply happy and peaceful. She's soooooo timidly happy. Her eyebrows are furrowed a little and you can tell she's trying to slow her thoughts down and enjoy the moment. Her smile isn't completely ear to ear uncontrollable. You can actually see her try to contain it a few times - it starts to get a little bigger and she stops herself. She's so used to not being able to feel this kind of pure unadulterated happiness. You can also see her keeping her chin and bottom lip stiff, like if she let go she'd break down crying. At first her eyes are open and it feels like she's looking into the corner at nothing to keep herself grounded. When she closes her eyes, her eyebrows relax a little. I think she was able to let go a little bit with her eyes closed. That's when you see her smile start to get a little wider, then she stops herself, then she opens her eyes again. Then she looks up at Steve. Like the grounding herself by looking at something or not looking at anything didn't work so she had to look at Steve.
Anyway back to her being timidly happy bc I think that's the best way to describe it. Look at this frame
(Sorry idk why the quality is so bad on youtube lol) she doesn't just look happy and teary. And I wouldn't say she looks confused either. If she were confused she wouldn't be dancing with him. I think it's just an instinct for her to limit her happiness. She looks like she absolutely can't believe this is happening but she knows she can't argue (again, or else she wouldn't be dancing with him), and like her mind is racing but she wants it to stop. This restrained happiness reminded me of something else and at first I couldn't figure out what it was but I did. Look
She's making the exact same face here except there's no genuine happiness in this one. Her smile is a little tighter because there's nothing behind it. But otherwise. It's the exact same expression. In both she's thinking of "another chance" with Steve, but when they're dancing it's real. In the AC scene it's just his blood that she felt like she had to defend. But when they're dancing ITS REAL!!! look again side by side sorry I'm going insane
Main point - there's just so much trepidation in her face while they dance. Timidly happy restrained joy etc etc. When she looks at Steve is when it starts to fade. Her eyes scan his face I think bc she's really trying to allow herself to feel happy and she's like look it's him you know it's him calm down it's him. Steve's smile just get bigger when he looks at her but he knows everything!! This frame shows her starting to relax
But when he smiles at her and she smiles back she's still biting it back a little and pulling her bottom lip in to control herself
That face is just. There's so much I feel that I should say but words can wait. Do you see the difference in how Steve is just so openly radiating joy but she's not there yet.
This is the most relaxed she gets the whole scene. She has to shut her mind off and remove herself from the situation and just feel to get to that point. She can do that when she kisses him. And that's where the scene cuts, when she is finally able to just feel and relax and live in the moment with him.

mozart l'opera rock lighting infodump

disclaimer the (limited) experience i have with theater tech has been like 96.7 percent sound i have touched a lightboard exactly once in my life i am not at all qualified to make this post i've just overheard a lot of other techies talking about lights. also it has been barely a week since i watched this musical for the first time so i am just new to all of this in general. anyways onwards
i feel like what really makes the lighting in mlor stand out is that it doesn't just accentuate the set and costumes and actors, it engages dynamically with them. it doesn't feel natural, or suspend disbelief-- it's showy and bright and just as much a part of the spectacle as the copious amounts of eyeliner! and that almost feels fourth-wall-breaking in a way?
so i was going to just do my favorite moments but uh. turns out i have way too much to say so we're going song by song
overture/penser l'impossible: i love the opening and the patterning on the floor it's so dramatic (i think these are gobos? like i said. clueless) the set's so well lit here too i don't know if the gold highlights count as lighting but i am obsessed. also it sets up this show's habit of Making Everything So Red when something bad happens
also shoutout to the bubble of neon pink mozart apparently brings with him wherever he goes. icon

do i need to explain the stroke of lighting genius this is. she is not merely being lit she is emitting light she is a part of the lighting this was probably hell to get right but ohhhhmy god they pulled it off also i love the way mozart is lit in this entire song so much
the moving lights in this one also make me absolutely insane here are some stills of them as well as the transitions in and out of that bit in between the second and last choruses
this is one of my favorite songs lighting-wise in the whole show it's so ephemeral and dreamy and clearly gives off exactly the vibe it wants to it's visually stunning and emotionally effective no notes whatsoever and of course the transition out of it is perfect as well
six pieds sur terre: (sorry ah vous dirais-je maman but it's really just that one light on constanze) i'm equally insane about the lighting on this one it's not even that pivotal of a song it didn't have to go that hard but. somehow it did
i love the transition into it so much
but the lighting in the bridge is. oh my god it's. these are just the transitions in and out of it since they're the most like. dynamic parts but i would put in the entire bridge if i could
et enfin. at the end of the song there's this effect that i genuinely cannot get over i think it's floor lights but there's something about the color and placement of constanze and aloysia and their dresses that makes it look like they're lit from within? it's so magical i love it so much
j'accuse mon père: i am soooooo so normal about this lighting. so normal about this song in general. you have never met a person more normal about j'accuse mon père than i
this gif is weirdly low quality for some reason but look at this. the flames. mozart, isolated, in that harsh red again, his father in white, everyone else in blue.
these ones with mozart in the foreground are. they're so. images of all time oh my god you could put them in a museum. (obviously most of the credit there goes to the people with cameras but the lighting adds that stark juxtaposition that i think really gives the effect it's. effect)
i realize now that i'm probably going to be saying "this is one of the best lit songs in the show" for like half of these songs. but this really is right up there with bim bam boum in that it powerful, eye-catching lighting that adds so much weight to its emotional effects. here, the lighting colors in the scene, not over it.

SO LONG, LONDON: the perfect song to be the special track 5: heartbreaking and earth shattering like the lyrics make me cry ESPECIALLY the 3rd verse!!!! "you swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? i died at the altar waiting for the proof, you sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days and i'm just getting color back to my face. i'm just mad as hell cause i loved this place for so long, london. had a good run, a moment of warm sun but i'm not the one" UGHHHH! and knowing how much this means to her is soooo insane and i can see how you might've liked it with a different music but i actually think it's super fitting because it's the sped up beat like there is going to be a climax in the song somewhere but there isn't and the slow singing of the words kind of counteract it which was what taylor and joe's relationship felt like... like there would be a climax in the relationship with a wedding and babies but it never came and she spent all this time waiting just for it to be over in the end you know? :(
but daddy i love him: I LOVE how she adressed the fact that every single time she dates someone people on the outside who don't know shit about her personal life want to include themselves in it and give their opinion and i love how she wrote the song in a sarcastic fuck you way BUT since it's about matty i feel like most of the opinions on their relationship are justified bc of who he is and the things he said so i feel like most of us were just looking out for her in the way we were against it you know? like there were reasons why people hated them together so much. clara bow: LOVE LOVE LOVE! it feels like it's the second part of "the lucky one" if you know what i mean... and her singing about herself but not in the way she sang about clara bow and stevie nicks with them being heart capturing icons everyone loves but in a self depricating way... heartbreaking bc she sadly still think of herself as an imposter in all this but so beautifully written again. also taylor swift name dropping taylor swift on a taylor swift album???? INSANE. 🥺
SOOOO basically, i feel like this album was made from the deepest depths of taylor's mind written specifically for the people who get her and have been loving and supporting her for a long time... like there is no proper poppy single or song for the general public on there which is why i think so many people on social media have slammed the album and said she really missed the mark with this one but if you get it and if you understand the situations she sings about bc you've been thorugh them with her it's such a meaningful abum about her heartbreaks, mental struggles, struggles with fame and not feeling like real person but also about her healing journey and seeing the funny side of people having an opinion on your every move you know? i love her. i truly do. mastermind. ❤️🩹

hello this is me rambling about monkey man (2024)! LONG story very short it was very very good i loved it very very much. a lot of good action a lot of blood a lot of me smiling. spoilers under cut!

oke oke deep breath in and a deep one out. i will try to make this as understandable as possible but i feel like i'm genuinely tweaking a little bit rn. from the film and also from the new meds so yk bear with me also wait this is incredibly incredibly biased bc i love fighting and i love action hehe
anyway. this was dev patel's directorial debut and uuhhhhh. well. he fucking did it. i. there's nothing bad to say. it's very obvious that he loves films; loves being in them, loves watching them, loves learning them, loves making them. it's clear that he did his homework for this. he mentioned in an interview how he's been an action lover ever since he was a kid but he was just never offered the right role. he talks about how he got scripts for just being the side-kick, the tech guy yk some random guy who just gets A Moment. but he knew he had way more to offer and fuck yeah he did.
so idk who happens to be reading this fuck ass review but if you by any chance don't know who dev patel is by name, maybe you've heard of slumdog millionaire (2008) or lion (2016) or the green knight (2021). point is that he's really fucking good and he deserves more recognition. blabla i'm not actually doing a review i will be going insane now.
i LOVE when mc's fucking suck ass. i love when they get beat. i love when they're weak it's just sooooo fucking boring when they're immediately some untouchable god. it feels good to watch them learn how to control their need to just go apeshit bc that simply... won't fucking work lmao. i love when the mc's are nervous, are just so determined to go through with their plan even though they're obviously in over their head. it's delicious and it's my favourite trope. honorary mention to indiana jones my favourite fucking nerd loser who gets into fights and then groans and moans and sweats and man he just wants to ramble about his little artefacts.
i loved the first big fight!!!!!!!!!!! it's between the mc with the shaky hands and the police chief who very obviously knows how to fight. (the mc kind of does too he does boxing matches for money but he's kinda bad yk). it's super bloody and it gets soooooo fucking messy. a random person happens to be there too and now the mc has to deal with two people and well shit. he's just now fucking doing well. he's getting beat, he's getting stabbed, he's being choked, his gun is fuck knows where and yeah everything is just bad.
though in my head i kept thinking about how i wish i could see the fighting a bit more. the scenes were short, cut after cut after cut, the camera moved around and it was placed at weird angles (IT'S WASN'T ACTUALLY BAD THOUGH THIS IS JUST ME BEING REALLY PICKY RN) but i wasn't too upset bc messy fights are also very fun, not every fight can be a dance and that's completely fine. so it was very fast paced, a lot was happening but it did all suit the situation - adrenaline filled mc fights his big ass nemesis in a public place - ofc it's gonna be messy.
also when he tries to finally escape the situation he decides to jump through a window to get into the main room - the glass doesn't break and he just falls down to the floor. 5+ i love that shit so much.
and thennnnnnn. just when i was again thinking about how every fight can't be beautiful blabla it's only natural etc etc - he enters his little training arc. btw i thought the training arc was made very well (overall the film had a lot of the so called Cliches but i thought they all worked perfectly and i had no complaints abt them).
anyway... the thing he learns is Rhythm. i almost made some sort of a noise when i realized this okay i got very giddy. he starts learning about how fighting isn't just throwing punches like he has been doing but it's about flow and rhythm and focus - a dance. while he's practicing his punches, a guy at the temple starts setting him a pattern with his drums and through that he learns how to make his movements smoother, sharper, how to lose the unnecessary steps, how to stay more clear headed, so he wouldn't just go in thrashing but with an actual goal in mind. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafuck i loved that soooooooooooooo much
and it made a change. during the next fights, the camera stood still more, the shots were wider, you could actually see what he's doing. it's was messy only in a sense of that blood was being splattered everywhere but the fighting itself did turn into a kind of a dance. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YOUUU IT WAS SO COOL OKAY I'M GEEKING RN I'M TRYING SO HARD TO STAY FOCUSED HERE
YOU KNOW A PERSON IS AN ACTION FAN WHEN THEY KNOW HOW TO GET CREATIVE WITH IT. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. deep breaths deep breaths. it's not only about guns and knives (although i do love my guns and knives) - it's about pots, pans, toilet seats, trays, walls, furniture, the ground itself. everything can be used in a fight and i fucking love it. another honorary mention just bc i want to and this one goes out to atomic blonde (2017) where the female mc has to fight multiple men and she too uses just about everything that's around her - the fridge, a hose, a pan, a glass table; later in another fight she uses a corkscrew, she uses a ministove etc etc. it just makes the fight sooo much more interesting and you can play around with it sooooooooooo much you can literally do anything. i'm soooo normal right nowwwwwwwwwww my hands are shaking.
speaking of cool moves i'd like to point some out from this one too. the mc is fighting in an elevator against two guys, it's a knife fight (btw i am very obviously veeeery geeked abt this too bc i love when the fighting is happening in a small closed space wahh it's so cool). he kills one of the guys and then he's pressing his knife at the other guy's neck right. he doesn't have much power bc the guy is pushing against his knife hand and he's using his other hand to hold the guy against the wall. he manages to press the knife in a little bit and then... he leans closer... and bites the handle... and pushes it inside the guy's throat with his mouth. his teeth? you get my point. IT WAS FUCKING SICK AS FUCK THE BLOOD SPLATTERED EVERYWHERE AND HE LOOKED INSANE AND I THINK I MIGHT'VE ACTUALLY GASPED OUT LOUD AT THIS I WON'T EVEN LIE
have to also mention the Axe Fight. very fucking cool i'm sorry i don't have any other words in my vocabulary rn but it really was cool. an axe is such an interesting weapon to go against bc it has the range and it has the weight. it's very hard to stop right? like you can't just fucking parry that shit lmao + the shape of the blade is a little too fucked for that. but it does have it's downsides - since it's heavy it can get stuck very easily - it gets stuck in the walls and in the floor, giving the mc a moment to counter back. it has the range but lacks in speed - for you to really do any damage you have to take the second to give it momentum which also gives your opponent time to strike. bonk now i'm just yapping about axes apparently are you still here i love you

Hello <3! I’ve recently got into F1 this year around May and I discovered Fathers and Sons around July and oh my goodness I absolutely adore it! Each Sunday I’d eagerly await that wonderful Ao3 update email and *rush* to go read the next chapter- and there’s so many things I love about it!
The dynamics between the kids, the difference between Max who was old enough when he was adopted to remember his life before Lewis and Seb v.s. Lando who only knows his family as is because he was taken in so young- with every chapter I find the siblings dynamics so unique and so interesting!
All of the individual struggles the kids go through, from being a teenager with a social life like Carlos, to Lando’s deafness and Max’s eagerness to step up and learn/practice with Lando- it’s just one of your fic’s charms that I ADORE!
The constant tension between Lewis and Seb, and how it affects the kids and each child’s perspective on their parent’s struggling relationship is so fascinating to me. Not to mention Seb and Lewis’s perspective of one another ontop of raising these four kids- and in some cases having to do it alone!
Every single side character as well and their own struggles, like Dan and his substance use or Checo and his own past- I just love every single detail you’ve included into this fic <3
The absolute rawness in this fic also pulls at my heartstrings so much- like when Max freaked out after the hockey game and pushed Seb through his anger, and then locked himself in the locker room and through his panic threw his phone on the ground- only to have the immediate realization that he fucked up and the utter guilt that comes with it when he realizes he messed up part of his phone- it’s phenomenal!
And not to mention the overarching mystery element to the story of Carlos’ adoption, and Lewis’s search for any clues or details he can find without involving Seb- it makes for such good angst and mystery- I love it so much!
I could honestly go on and on about how much I love this fic so far, and during your so much deserved break, I wanted to thank you so much for this delightful fic- and I hope my rambling in this ask wasn’t too annoying, but genuinely oh my goodness, thank you so much for this fic- it brings me such happiness as a reader <3

do i see maxy as one of your fave characters?? 0-0 but yes i love writing sibling dynamics! especially in the case of right now all siblings are living in the same environment (with lew and seb in a wealthy place) but they all view things so differently! as you said for example carlos has struggles related to his relationship or with his friends whereas max doesn't give a shit about school and is getting into trouble outside of it (ie checo and hockey). max and lando,,, i cry every time i write them, i love them soooooo much.
lewis and seb,,,, there's so much underlying drama there especially combined with the mystery element of carlos' adoption!!! i do love a good mystery - for an old fandom i wrote an insane murder mystery and it's the work I'm proudest of to this day! (a skz fic in anyone reads for that fandom!!)
i think side characters contribute so so much to a story! i hate when people don't utilise them well - they are people too with their own struggles and their lives don't revolve around the POV character.
i try to write some raw/emotional shit because i am an angst girl at heart. max is so easy to write angst for LMAO i always feel so bad hurting him, but I'm just too evil. don't worry - he'll get a break soon!
i LOVE a good long ramble especially when it's regarding a fic i've written so DON'T WORRY!!!! it makes me feel so appreciated as a writer and I'm churning with ideas for future chapters! I'm happy to announce I've planned scene-by-scene until chapter 50! and omgggg there's some utterly evil ones in there.

rambling abt the hozier album ok this is going to be long i'm listening to the whole thing and typing as i do. the transition from de selby pt 1 to pt 2 & the contrast in the beat of them while the themes are the same is wonderful and soooo well done, i actually have no idea how i only listened to one half of it till now lol. generally speaking de selby pt 2 is one of his best songs ever imo! 'before i heard it from your mouth my name would always hit my ears as such an awful sound' & 'to share the space with simple living things' well i am insane but apart from that first time feels like a very simple run into hell; falling in love, the terrible fate but seeing it as something beautiful anyway. reminds me of would that i. francesca's place in the order of the album is absolutely perfect - i didn't expect it to come up this early but it's like a reminder of the 'world above' so to speak. sure, it's about lust, but not just for a lover but also for a memory of the life that was lived. it's great as a single but within the context of the album this song can appear in all its glory and it's not something easy to do, take a song that work as a single and make it even stronger in the album. i, carrion is amazing as well, a sort of coming to terms with being in hell and just hoping to have some beloved company within it; it's not the falling into hell that matters, it's the not falling away from the lover. the transition to eat your young is soooooo good because i, carrion is as greedy as eat your young but you don't understand how they're two sides of the same coin till you listen to them. all that could've been said about eat your young has already been said but i will say once again the context of the album vs the single is insane in how it changes the meaning, a lot like francesca. i will say i don't like the instrumental part at the end of it but it could easily be just me lol. damage gets done well i will say i'm so glad it's a duet!! the desperation after the carelessness of eat your young, the choice of a duet when so many of the earlier songs are about loneliness is top tier. who we are well i love it but it is the weakest song on the album 2 me coming between two very strong songs - it's not bad but it either shouldn't be placed there or should have something more unique instrumentally for it to catch my ear the way the rest of the album does. and it's not a bad song!!! i feel like i have to mention it ok.
SON OF NYX RAMBLES NOW i have said it before & i will say it again this is the best song hozier has ever done and it's on a completely other level to all his other music. i want it to be a single i want it tattooed inside my ears every note is so well placed it's devastating and more than anything it shows just how much he grows as an artist; the hozier that did the debut album would not have been capable of creating something like this. the whole album has a lot of nods to the debut album but this one is so unapologetically wasteland baby that it feels almost out of place but it isn't because all things end is right there for it to lean on and take us back to the story. generally speaking i wasn't a big fan of all things end in the ep and singles because it felt more flat than the other songs (especially in the ep with through me & eat your young like helloooo) but it takes its rightful place in the album. after son of nyx's despair all things end is here to have a beautiful bit of almost hopeful nihilism. to someone from a warm climate first of all sexy hozier back at it again i missed it definitely & this song's place at the end of the album is sooo good it's a reminder of a far away beautiful world, almost like a siren calling to a sailor except it's hozier and well hell. butchered tongue is often compared to foreigner's god and well the themes are similar but i feel like this song is a lot like coming back home after living abroad in contrast to still living oppression like in foreigner's god. it's a very good song, i wish it had bass i think it would've been amazing with the cello and piano of it.
i'm obsessed with anything but because it's such a more tailored version of the first album's music and themes. i'm actually not a very big fan of the clapping i feel like after butchered tongue (seeing as its music is very gloomy) even upbeat songs need a way to be more gentle about it but well it can be just me. anyway the song is beautiful!! i love it. abstract HELLOOOOO i love it so much the confusion 'your hand in my pocket to keep us both warm' what if i jumped off a cliff and 'see how it changed' AH i love that song and actually i feel like it could even change place with unknown in the order of the songs but its position after anything but also shows the different faces of the instruments in this album - anything but is very minimal on the instrumental part compared to hozier's usual (not that it's a bad thing!!) and the chorus of abstract having these complex layers of instruments is doing wonders 2 my ear. unknown well i will be controversial and say it's a good song but i think people are being just a bit too crazy about it like hello if you're into angst and loneliness son of nyx is right there... it's a good song! and it belongs at the end of the album but i think abstract and first light are better and they sort of wash it out. it's good!!! but it's also between two other very good songs that touch on the same topic and have a stronger presence. i feel like with a cello lead instead of a guitar it could've been a bit better, now that i see how prominent the cello is in this album. and first light!!! beautiful ending to the album the harmonies at the beginning of it should feel out of place but they aren't. the hopeful note to it after a journey through hell, the strong vocals & the high guitar notes give a a beautiful end to the album. it feels like the opposite of the ending of wasteland baby - the final song of that album is the gentle closure where here the last song is the hopeful beginning. it's definitely the best album closure out of the three he's had and it reminds me soooo much of sunlight which is another nod to the second album that i love so so dearly... i was really skeptical when i saw unknown wasn't the last song on the album because it feels like an end but first light is a perfect note to end on.
overall. amazing album. it's definitely his best so far mainly because it draws so much from both the debut and wasteland baby. like ok wasteland baby is so different from the debut and i love them but they both have each its own line, and unreal unearth is not a mix of them but something born out of letting them simmer on the stove - it takes out the best features of both of them and still remains irrevocably hozier. i was worried he'd try to reinvent the sounds (i never doubted the lyrics would remain within the same themes he's always done) but this album is something so worth waiting years for. it's amazing what beautiful music artists make when they're not pressured to keep spitting it out half done and unpolished. like all album it has its weak spots and some things that i personally would've done differently but it's hozier's greatness is that he doesn't need to create the perfect music to make a concept album where every song is sat on a golden throne and it's all that matters at the end. i'm very sad through me didn't make it to the album but well it's hozier tradition to leave his second best song of every era only in the ep (nina cried power in the album & nfwmb in the ep, son of nyx in the album & through me in the ep, work song in the album & live of to be alone in the ep) so well i can't complain. all in all. amazing album. can't wait to see him live again now the whole thing is out!!!

I'm in a very problematic fandom. The fanbase as a whole is awfully toxic in many ways in and outside of Tumblr.
I just. Feel so frustrated because I joined this fandom on here, Tumblr, expecting to simply exchange ideas, headcanons and make those rb additions in the form of artworks, funny additions etc. or even experience the 'why would you hide this in the tags' thing. The appeal of Tumblr to me was the way fans can interact with each other in such fun ways.
But then, not even a year of joining, I have to see antis, purity culture, the problematic-things discourses, which ship is bad and why (although when analyzed properly literally every ships are problematic in this fandom) and then, some people get popular and are well-received for being brave speaking about the 'problematic stuff' like all of these got soooooo bad and loud during that time and it just, went downhill from there on.
Breaks my heart every time I remember the state of my fandom because I have seen literally everyone breaking up with each other, even I myself have been cornered (although not directly mentioned, the implication is pretty obvious though) into making decisions of whom I want to stay friends/mutuals with and it's driving me insane because I've dealt with all these crap in real life -- though not as alike, but still a semblance to irl. And idk, maybe I have issues that makes me feel my experience on Tumblr is upsetting me so much... But seriously, I just can't deal with this fandom when every once in a while I would remember the cause and the divisions and the fights. And the one who started all that is not even in this fandom anymore. Personally, I sometimes think to myself, 'you came into this sandbox (fandom) inviting everyone else who follow you to throw sand at everyone else also in the sandbox and even kicking some out for not seeing/building the sandcastles as you guys believe they should be but now you choose to leave this sandbox with all the sand already everywhere?'. Sometimes I feel mad about it, sometimes I'm just, 'meh. This is life, things happen.'
Before I raise concern because of how tired I sound over being in here and in this fandom, hereby I clarify that yes xD I have a life outside of Tumblr, I am good with what I do outside of Tumblr. But God, it still just hurts to see and remember all this. I try to leave Tumblr sometimes, refusing to be active on here anymore but, there are no social platforms much like Tumblr. Where I can filter content and block and stuff I don't want. Sigh. Hellsite (affectionate).
Despite all that, I still refuse to leave this fandom. It's a huge one, I can still find a corner for myself. So at the very least, there's that... I am trying my hardest to just turn the other way whenever drama and discourse finds its way to my dash...but sometimes the urge to jump in is just so strong. I don't engage with them most of the time.
But if anything. I just wanna say these few things.
Racism is not the only issue in this world.
POCs can be racist too. Not just white people. There's no such thing as 'reverse racism' because racism is... racism. I live in a state where all of us are POCs though with different ethnicities, so I have learned to recognize extremists. These extremists would call 'racist! racism!' on literally anything without considering the whole issue/picture. And frankly, that is what I see is going on in my fandom. Maybe the other fandoms as well but I don't go to other fandoms as often.
That's all. If there are any other insights/perspectives to what this is, I'm all ears. I crave to hear other insights. And if I sound like I need help, I am working on that!

love the way you talk about Sirius we feel the same way about him. As in I will tear into him for being a fucking jackass and a total screw up but if someone who genuinely dislikes him said the exact same thing I would loose my mind. He’s a cunt and he doesn’t deserve Remus but also he’s kind of the greatest thing to walk the earth and he’s out of Remus’ league and I never wanna see another bad thing happen to him again. I rebuke any Sirius who doesn’t worship the ground Remus walks on that simply doesn’t exist to me genuinely I think he’s at his most likeable when he’s being good to Remus (and Harry but idc for him much the principle stands tho) mostly cause he’s been a source of pain to them both but also they needed him in their life I think a Sirius who understands this and wants more then anything to be better for them is the best character in the book. (also there’s thing Thing with kreacher but that’s another can of worms) anyway sirius feels like a massive hypocrite - one who desperately wants to be good but is kinda bad at it and sometimes you wonder if he’s even trying anymore and it’s insanely annoying and also incredibly interesting. its why Sirius written by fans >> anything jkr writes. she doesn’t have the range ..
yes absolutely absolutely! i actually think his cuntish tendencies are sooo great and i feel like its such a disservice to his character when he's too ironed out. he can fuck up that is Ok. in fact if anything i really like depictions of him where he is actively trying--because it is something he has to Actively Try at--to get his act together a little bit i love it when he is actively trying to be better for remus i sooo agree w/ u about him being at his most likeable there (also ur right about that going for harry too but i agree i dont care about him either lol). he's so much more interesting that way...there are times when he has the capacity to be sooo very good and gentle and selfless as though it's nothing and then also times where he's abruptly immature and cruel and volatile those qualities can coexist the latter does not negate the former. he's soooooo. i'm mean about him constantly i know but i don't intend for that to seem dismissive. i think he fucking Sucks but im invested in him for that reason...and as you say i feel like his character has been far better executed in fan works than any canon content. she had no idea what she was talking about.

Question: have you played any games you like recently? Ive played lots of farming simulator esk games recently (story of seasons pioneers of olive town, grow song of the ever tree, ooblets, rune factory 5). And love when I just want to focus on them! Do you do anything like that?
Is there something you're looking forward to for you DND campaigns?
bothering: i totally get that. and that's something i struggled with in the past as well. but it's always helpful for me to remember that emotionally mature and caring people will like it when you stick up for your needs and boundaries with them. it makes them feel safer that you'll stick up for yourself and it means they can too. so saying something like "i've been really burnt out lately and it would be great if we could talk about more fun stuff for a while. you can check in if i have spoons if something comes up but i might say no if i just dont have brainpower. i still really care about you i just dont have extra energy to share right now". and if the person is receptive then great! just made the friendship stronger. if they get an attitude about it then, congrats youve just seen that they maybe aren't the best friend for you to have anyway and you can feel less guilty about taking care of yourself when it comes to people like that
exciting: OH THATS GREAT!! i think i had a drawing table when i was like. pretty young? like 12 or so maybe. i never got the hang of it tbh. but im glad you like yours!!! i will remain hunched over my table like a goblin when i draw
question: i've played a few!!! i got a decent ways into baba is you and was having a lot of fun with that. i played through the majority of potion permit (not quite a farming sim but you might like it!!) and that was really cute but i thought they couldve used better romancable options. i replayed what became of edith finch which always makes me insane (major trigger warnings). and right now i'm replaying spiritfarer because i haven't replayed since it came out and it's soooooo good and meaningful and just wrecks me but is also so so sweet and calming
DND campaigns: in lensa (where i'm a player) we're about to go into the feywild and im soooooo excited. i play bo who is a ranger and he has gone so ham preparing and i know we're simply gonna get our shit wrecked so so hard anyway. hollis our dm is so good at playing npcs and i cant wait to meet a bunch of trickys faeries. we're so fucking doomed but im so excited.
in lost township (where i dm) we're starting to get more into pantheon lore and also some messy npc relationships and im so excited. i've really Thrown Their Asses In A Situation and everyone is freaking out and im having such an evil good time

i have more to say actually. hi ivi love you <3 okay so. i think one of the reasons that later seasons arent hitting as well in terms of comedy (for me, at least), is that the antics are largely off screen. they allude of antics and dont SHOW us them as much as they used to. instead we are getting more episodes of them bonding as a group. and while i think this takes away from the comedy, it is definitely intentional and i think it is more proof of. how they are intentionally moving towards more meaningful story lines. i am thinking specifically of the charlies dad ireland episodes where mac gets to be gay, dennis is sick, and charlie gets one of thee most heart wrenching moments in the entire show. the antics are lessening and its SO meaningful. even the poop bit is somewhat meaningful (i hate saying that) because it's proof that frank is aging and i kind of hope they have an episode about it. not just frank-antics (frantics, if you will). GOD I WANT A MEANINGFUL DEE EPISODE SOOOOO BAD. the women and gays deserve a good dee episode soooooo badly. i want her to kill someone like. okay now i am writing fanfiction here. i want an episode to open on her covered in blood with a comically huge knife (blood on her face and mouth as a call back to the cannibal episode maybe?) and the gang thinks she murdered someone, but in the end its actually because she ate a girl out on her period and they had some kinky knifeplay sex. manifesting it. ummmmm. what else can i burden you with. thats it. for now. (threat)

okay this is very interesting and I think you're probably right, tho i can't actually properly comment on it bc i haven't really analyzed the show as a whole to see the actual difference that you mention, bc they did also make emotional and bonding episodes in the past, but i agree that I do think the show is getting more serious and more about the feelings of the characters, bc I feel like even if they don't have an intention of ending right now, they know they are getting to an end and so it's time to start seeing the impact of the things they have lived. It's time to finally go somewhere (like it's insane that they did the Charlie's dad thing, that was an unresolved plot since s2!!!!! since the beginning!!! and they closed it!!!) they are literally bringing their recurring themes to the surface, and so macdennis.
and I so I do think we will see also the meaningful side of frank and dee, and it is gonna make me cry. (btw 'frantics' hello I love your brain skdjskd)
now I don't have much thoughts about frank (tho I would argue that we have started seeing his emotional side with the whole charlie thing) but I do about dee (my love 😍). Now objectively I think Dee's plot is going to be about acting, something will happen that will get her to realize she has to stop trying to be an actress, and that process will also be about her need of approval. I don't think she's going to get 'fixed' (there's nothing to fix, she's perfect) but it will be about dealing with all that. That's my bet, but i'm open to them surprising me, it would not be the first time. Now what do I want from Dee's plot?? lesbianism. kissing a girl will fix dee!!!! and also it will drive mac and dennis (for different reasons) INSANE, so the comical potential is right there!! like people always talk about 'how gay the show is' and only mention the guys (bc yeah they are gay) and dee gets ignored when she has a very clear queercoding that drives me insane!!! like she wants to kiss women so bad it makes her look stupid, bc she's also stupid and doesn't know she wants to kiss women!!!! I'm kicking and biting just by thinking this, rcg stop being so stupid!!!! 🔪🔪
and so in relation to all this, HELLO I LOVE YOUR IDEA!!!! first I'm so much more into the joke being that dee (or Charlie btw) is a killer than dennis, so this is already perfect. and second just your brain!!! the call back to the cannibalism, the idea of the whole thing happening bc they just don't talk to her and ask her but go behind her back to unravel everything, the knife!!! and obviously the lesbianism!! and also love that as a way of revealing the queer dee plot, like I love it being a big deal for dee bc it's important, but also it would be hilarious if she has just always known but never like commented it of made a big deal of it bc she knows the gang doesn't care kskdkdjdkd

ON THE SUBJECT OF COMMUNITY. stop fucking complaining about pierce!! we know! the show knows! the show is about bad people! and like he's explicitly the fucking antagonist half the time (dnd episode, bequeathing ep, paintball s2 part one, etc) because a story NEEDS an antagonist to cause conflict and obstacles for our characters to overcome. 'community would be so much better without pierce' NO IT WOULDN'T BE! who would present the haunting mirror of who jeff could one day become if he stays selfish and cynical? who would be proof that even the worst of us have humanity and it's always about choosing to be good? who would deliver the line I don't know why gay is an insult these people are alright!!! like yes he sucks but stop acting like that's a flaw of the show and not deliberate for his character. I was madder about this than I thought I would be. it's literally so annoying though like sir this is the finding the humanity in terrible people show...

Hello hello, there! I've been wanting to do this for quite a while but ever since I turned 21 life's been going INSANE for me and it seems like I never get a break to come by and say what I wanna say, but here I am now! So brace yourself because I'm going to say everything I wanted to during these last months but never had time to do so! I've always been a kid that was obsessed with books and reading but I never was the fanfiction type of person, it seemed like every time I tried to read one it would just made me upset because it just felt like the characters were always SO OOC and the storylines always seemed to be the same with the same annoying stereotyped readers that bottered me so much (perhaps I was just dumb and didn't knew yet how to actually look for stories and always ended up giving up before founding the ones that were for me), so it was never "my thing". I've been a Supernatural fan ever since I was 12, and a few months ago I was just missing Dean SO BAD and I desperately needed some distraction from my current life, so I decided to give fanfiction a try again (best decision I've ever made). I was feeling in a very specific mood (don't even ask why, my mind sometimes just get in very weird maladaptive daydreaming moods that I CANNOT explain) I felt like reading something linda "soldier" like, and that's how I've found Home To You. OH.MY.FUCKING.GOD. WHAT WAS THAT? NO, LIKE REALLY? I've read it SO GODDAMN FAST and ALL AT ONCE because once I started I just COULDN'T STOP IT! Everything pulled me in the story so much, the characters, the plot, the fantastic job you did with the reader, the goddamn long ass slow burn (and I mean that in the nicest way possible because I LOVE ME some slow burn). Do I even need to say that after finishing this one I absolutely binged every single one of your works? BECAUSE I DID (and now I regret it because I'm ADDICTED to your stories but I've read everything already 😭😭). Your writing it's so captivating and entertaining! I'm not exaggerating when I say that I'm IN LOVE with your stories and I just HAD to come here to let you know how absolutely fantastic you and your fanfics are! From now on I'll just be in my seat waiting for the uploads of the new stories (which by the way, they're AWESOME, I honestly could go on in another whole huge ass ask just to talk about what I'm loving in each one of them) and make sure to come here to talk to ya and give the feedback your deserve!
