Because I’m not tired and my brain is going a million miles a minute because Tim f-ing Minear decided to drop some more stills.
Season 6 ending with Buck in a relationship and Eddie asking Marisol out for coffee. Obviously with three cruise ship episodes, there might not be a time jump for 7x01. However I think Tim is editing 7x01 and hence some of the stills. And he said they just cracked the seal on 7x04 so these stills are definitely not from that.
I theorized Marisol wouldn’t be around long. Some people think so (I do however love the idea of her playing a stalker. It would be amazing. We did call Jonah from day 1) but I don’t.
It’s a basic reset for new viewers.
We do know everyone recovered by the end of season 6, so this could tie into that.
My angsty AF theory is that Buck doesn’t know why he’s flailing with Eddie going out with Marisol. He’s been very involved with Natalia at the end of season 6 and therefore could think “I might need to take a step back from the Diazes.”
Buck hasn’t really dealt with the trauma of dying, of his coma dream and thinks if someone came back, then maybe he should date them. And he’s probably feels Eddie slipping away if he’s spending time with Marisol and Buck dives into the relationship with Natalia.

In this still, it seems like they are still in sync at work. Probably putting out a fire and rescuing someone. This feels like the conversation in Jinx about Eddie running into Ana. They are bumping shoulders so they could be talking about relationships.
Somewhere between this still and these stills below, something happens. That something makes Eddie work out hard enough to sweat which we have only seen maybe three times. Once when Buck was being a brat, another during the fighting and again when he’s on the treadmill after transferring. But for the most point, he only does this when he’s anxious or mad about something to do with Buck.
My angsty AF theory is that Buck really stepped back on their friendship and him being there for Chris. Eddie is still affected by the lightning strike and suddenly Buck isn’t there anymore. Whether it’s to give Eddie time to date or to spend more time with Natalia, Eddie is going through it.
He saw a life without Buck and he knows it sucks but he doesn’t know how to properly say that to Buck. And we have the puppy eyes where Buck asks if everything ok with Marisol and maybe just maybe getting a hint that something is off with him and Eddie.
These stills are reminiscent of Buck’s speech about Ana and Eddie’s lack of feelings and panic attacks about her. Except maybe this time, Buck starts to realize there might be more to this.
Obviously Eddie is getting advice from Bobby but the last time he asked advice in this type of setting, it set him on the path towards Ana. Maybe this time Bobby’s advice is a little more direct.
Then we come to this still with Buck and Chris.
This is not an usual still between this two. This speaks of tension and Chris maybe mad about something. And Buck looks like he’s trying to explain something. (Lyn’s color theory works well with this). Maybe he tries to explain why he hasn’t been around and tries to apologize for not being there.
It also relates back to Chris almost losing Buck. This kid has been through a lot but Buck has been a constant figure in his life for years now and Buck promised he would always be there.
So if it seems like Buck broke the promise and Chris is possibly taking it out on Eddie and Eddie is at a loss, then Buck finally gets it through his head that he doesn’t have to step back.
And he tries to talk to Chris about why he wasn’t around.
Obviously they all need to just talk to each other. Especially about the shooting, the will and the lightning strike.
Lastly we have this still. (I’m on Team Buck here)
Maybe before the Chris and Buck still or after, Eddie finally caves and tries to let Buck know he is wanted and can come around whenever.
This should grab is also reminiscent of Eddie telling Buck there is no one he trusts more with Chris. It echoes the same exact feeling of “You are my family no matter what. You’re part of Christopher’s family no matter what.”
Despite the redemption of shitty parents in season 6, I hope Tim really gives us the found family feels we fell in love with. More so with the Buckley-Diaz family and how much Eddie has invited Buck into his and his son’s life from basically day 1. (Ok like day 7 but I digress).
I don’t think Buck is gonna allow Christopher to be injured physically. I think it’s going to play out in emotionally injured way because he would accidentally do that again.
And for the love of God, go to therapy.

Probably the best girlfriend in the world.
Vi has a heart of gold and you bet she won't tell you if something is wrong. She'll try to handle everything herself so please just try to help her with her troubles.
Also you bet your ass that you'll have to hold her back so she doesn't start a pointless fight with a random person.
The best fighting duo when you both put your mind into it.
I feel like she's a snuggler so prepare yourself because she's also very buff.
If you're taller than her try teasing her about her height to see her cheeks turn the same colour as her hair.
Neck and forehead kisses at random times are frequent.
Keep them coming because she loves them.
Let her talk to you about her feelings and her worries, she's already carrying a heavy burden.
Help her with her relationship with her sister because she's lost and worried and doesn't know what to do.
As long as she doesn't tell you to give her space and let her figure it out herself she'll be forever grateful for the help.
Since we're on the subject of her sister :)
You're kinda doomed to put it lightly.
Jinx will absolutely hate you if she sees how much Vi loves you.
To her it's like Vi is telling her "I love her way more than I'll ever love you."
You need to remember that she's still Vi's sister non the less.
Just be there to support Vi, make sure not to die and let the sisters figure it out on their own.
She has nightmares every other night so either sing to her or hold her close and run your fingers through her short hair.
I think Vi would prefer to stay in the Undercity, it would take a lot of convincing for her to move to Piltover permanently.
Your dates would mostly be outside. Bring a little food and with Vi's company that's all you'll need to have a good time.
When you have fights just make sure to give her space and let her cooldown.
I feel like she would forgive you fast if you gave her a good explanation.
If she was the one in the wrong she would immediately apologize after realising what she did.
She absolutely loves giving you massages and she won't accept no for an answer.
She goes out of her way to prepare the bath and all the oils you might need. She chooses the ones with her favourite scent cuz she loves your smell while you're cuddling.
I feel likes she's not the most tidy person to exist but if it bothers you she immediately cleans up and starts making a habit of not leaving everything a mess.
She absolutely will fight anyone if she catches them staring at you.
Not in the weirdly possessive way though.
She just doesn't like it when people ogle you.
I advice you to step in and break the fight if you can.
She will be surprised if you react the same way in a similar situation. She was usually the one that protected and cared for others. The moment you show how you're willing to do the same for her is the moment she falls in love with you.

Unhinged, pretty, baby
I feel like she feel in love at first sight.
Silco send her at a job. Something about her beating up some smugglers trying steal Shimmer from the cargo ship. They had advantage in numbers but Jinx is Jinx. It took her 10 minutes max and all of them were lying dead.
She thought you were one of them when you just walked up to her so she simply pointed Pow Pow at your face.
She tilted her head and was all like :)
You just raised your eyebrows.
You were from the Undercity too, guns and murder didn't faze you in the slightest.
You actually told her you like her gun.
She was surprised. So surprised she actually lowered her weapon. She didn't like the fact that she lowered her guard so easily in your presence, that there was something pulling her to you. So she left. She dipped so fast you barely caught a glimpse of her long powder braids.
She couldn't stop thinking about you though and the next time Silco wanted her to to do another job she was done quickly just to have time to look for you.
She had no idea what she was looking for exactly, but she was going to find you.
Or you were going to find her .
She is pretty easy to spot. Gadgets jiggling in her belt, huge guns painted in the brightest colours and the most adorable drawings.
To be honest you didn't exactly know why you talked to her again but it worked.
Cuz now you have a girlfriend ;)
Loves pda and affection in general.
Hugs, kisses, cuddles, you name it.
She mostly spends time in her lair working on new bombs so many of your dates take place there.
Not that you mind
The flashy colours, constant noise and prominent smell of gunpowder are just so Jinx.
Like I mentioned she lives off of your affection so even when she's working she needs to sit on your lap, or have you sit in hers, hold you hand, or just have you hugging her from behind.
When she's done with some bombs you two decorate them together.
Creating cute doodles and drawing together is her favourite thing in the world.
Sometimes you go to Silco to show him the drawings and have a friendly competition.
He was reluctant at first but after he saw how happy Jinx was he agreed.
Jinx mostly wins the competitions.
Definitely not because Silco is biased
If you don't like loosing Jinx will whine Silco's ears off until he lets you win.
Both Silco and Sevika didn't approve of you at first, for entirely different reasons.
Silco didn't trust Jinx's heart to you. He thought you'd hurt her, use her like everyone else had done. He finally accepted you once Jinx looked at him, the most serious she has ever been in her life, and said "I love her".
Sevika didn't take too long to accept you. She didn't really care about Jinx, but she new very well of what would happen if you broke her heart. She accepted you when she realised how more stable Jinx has been after you became a part of her life. Jobs are much easier now.
Jinx is way too possessive for her own good. She can't help it, she's so insecure that she gets jealous in a heartbeat.
Unlike with Vi you won't be able to do anything about it, they'd be dead before you can say 'powder'.
You tried to be there for her the best you could during the events of Arcane.
You could see her slip away from you and there wasn't much you could do. She always had breakdowns, the voices in her head never silent, but now it was a hundred times worse.
Her past came to hunt her in the worst possible way.
It all spiralled out of control before you could even think about doing anything.
The sky lit up by a blue rocket. It looked like a meteorite. It was pretty. It headed towards Piltover. Your breath left your lungs.
"Jinx".
• Caitlyn •
Hot mommy dom
If you're from Zaun, you likely met during her time there with Vi. It would make sense for you not to trust her because of that.
If you're from Piltover then things would be way easier. You probably grew up together and were friends long before Arcane took place.
I can see Caitlyn not being into too much pda. It's not like she hates affection she just has a reputation to uphold. She prefers touches and kisses to be given when it's just the two of you, the most you can get out of her in public is a peck on the cheek and the occasional hand holding.
A very sweet and loving girlfriend non the less
She would be all over you if you ever got sick. Making you soup, bringing you medicine, cuddling you to make you feel better. She's going to nurse you back to health no matter what you say.
You also can't stop her from constantly worrying over you and your safety. Her line of work can put you in danger even if you're not directly involved and that scares her. She's okay with being in harm's way almost every single day, but when it comes to you she can't even think about it.
If you actually do get hurt it's a whole mess. She'll be worried sick no matter how badly you were hurt. If you're in some sort of coma she'll bury herself in her work so she doesn't think about how it's her fault that you ended up in a hospital bed.
Even after you are 100% healthy again she'll still beat herself up for what happened.
The both of you will manage to overcome this by being there for eachother.
Cait is often busy with her enforcer work, she's the serif after all.
That doesn't mean that she's a bad partner though, it just means that you don't spend every second of every day with her.
She tries to make time for you but there are occasions when that's impossible so you'll have to be understanding.
If you're worried about her safety she's going to be mad about it but isn't going to cause an argument
She'll just calmly tell you that she can handle it. She's not made of glass after all
She does love how you care about her and she deeply appreciates it.
Most of your dates with Cait are indoors. She loves taking walks in parks and what not but she's super tired most of the time and would just prefer to sit inside. Maybe watch some movies and cuddle on the couch with some popcorn.
You have a lot of dinners with her parents. They will most likely invite you to tag along with Caitlyn in some fancy balls. She'll understand if you don't want to go, it's not everyone's cup of tea after all.
If you insisted on going with her when she went after Silco she'll immediately refuse. There's no way she's putting you in harms way.
So imagine her face when you showed up in the Undercity looking all guilty and stuff.
She's confused for a second, thinking that she's hallucinating but when it downs on her that you vane here despite what she told you she's really pissed.
She can't argue with you then and there but she'll make it obvious that she didn't like you coming along with her, especially in secret like this.
Since she can't really send you back she'll make sure that you're safe alt all times. She has her eyes on you. She's super protective even if you're able to protect yourself.
You can tell that she's getting super stressed from the whole situation so you try to reassure her.
Overall she's very sweet and even though she might not be able to be as attentive as the rest she loves you to the moon and back and makes sure you know it.

im so curious, ive been dying to ask you this:
which soulcalibur ships interest you the most? for the canon ones (lol the few that we have), what about them speak to you? for the noncanon ones, where is the potential for them in your eyes?
Okay, this is probably going to be a bit of a mess, but I'll try to keep it concise. Not jinxing it at all. Going off the top of my head... (drum roll)
Canon
Kilik/Xianghua: It's not for nothing that I summed this one up as "complicated, but dammit if I'm not there for the emotional roller-coaster" in this ask from a while back. I don't want to harp on why the way it ended in the old timeline makes sense to me, but again, I'm a sucker for star-crossed lovers. 'Tis better to have loved than to have lost than to never love at all, and all that... Also, I get the feeling that some overlook the fact that Kilik was raised in a Buddhist monastery as something that plays into his decisions.
Li Long/Chie: The accidental tragicomedy of "My girlfriend's a ninja?!", as I like to call it. Li Long started off as a hotheaded assassin who bit off more than he could chew while deep in enemy territory, and would've bled to death if Chie hadn't found him by chance. I like to imagine them gradually bonding as she nurses him back to health... all while hiding the fact that she and her father are fugitive ninjas, of course. (I've thought about these two a lot because I've had a fic languishing in my drive since 2020. Also, Chie's muteness gives me an excuse to practice describing a range of nonverbal cues for just about anything.) Long story short (pun not not intended), he went through hell and back for her... And it all worked out. Since he ends up in the ranks of the Fu-Ma clan during the pre-SC5 timeskip, I like to think he was a good adoptive dad to Natsu. He probably left the demon stuff to Chie and Taki, though.
Not canon (but I can always dream)
Siegfried/Salia: The Schwarzwind side-missions in Libra of Soul were my fuel, especially with Salia keeping the group together long after Siegfried ran off. ("Because without us, he would have no one to return to...") I think her feelings toward Siegfried were only mentioned in supplementary material before, so I was particularly happy about this part of the "Feelings Shared" side-mission:

To me, Siegfried and Salia have the sort of dynamic that writes itself. Close friends, erstwhile partners-in-crime, leader and tactician... What was that line in Siegfried's SC4 prologue? Something about not letting anyone touch his heart?

To be fair, having a child born with latent Soul Edge energy would be a reasonable worry for him. That might be part of it.
Bonus: according to this relationship chart from New Legends of Projects Soul (page 118), Siegfried's mother sees Salia as "a nice girl, too good for her own son"!

And now we enter my self-indulgence zone.
I've been playing around with a (very id-driven) Mitsurugi/Taki scenario and went into crackpot mode to flesh it out. It's an AU partly because I think it would take a lot for Mitsurugi to see Taki as something more than She-who-dares-get-in-my-way... Like, oh I don't know, him jumping at the chance to do some mercenary work, even if it means getting caught up in the Fu-Ma clan's business (and Taki watching him like a hawk the entire time). A fair trade for that shard of Soul Edge he picked up long ago? This is all supposed to diverge from some point after Mitsurugi returns to Japan too late for the Battle of Sekigahara (during the pre-SC5 timeskip). For now it's a bunch of notes and scenes clogging my phone's memo app.
There's just... something about a pair of rivals growing to trust each other enough to show their vulnerable sides, I'll say that much for now. Man, that was a lot of words for what started as my brain going NOW KISS.

i found your jinxtor art and its made me really contemplate them as a ship bcs it never crossed my mind but thematically it really works?? both have a lot of paralels in s1 too (especially the part that they're suffering while their partner/sister is off romancing lmao). i also really like how one is physically impaired while the other is mentally impaired. they both experience severe limitations but could still achieve great feats in science. they both know what it feels like to be outcasts. they both know what it feels like to bear guilt over deaths of loved ones in their pursuit for their own goals. they'd definitely relate to each other in so many ways that they wouldnt be able to experience with others in the main cast.
You really got it OP! They have a lot in common, besides the science, and tragic arcs. They could really benefit from each other. And I feel like the best aspect of a Machine Herald / Jinx dynamic is :
"I can fix her" (mentally)
"I can fix him" (physically)
And both being wrong… Well, they sure can try! And that's how you develop a slightly uneasy relationship where your partner is also your "project". Usually not a good thing, but rather fitting for two unhinged people.
They definitely have a lot in common. I think another benefit of their relationship would be the way Viktor is clearly leaning into touch-starved, attention deprived territory, while Jinx will obviously need to be "needed". Silco is gone, her sister abandoned her in all the ways that matter and refuses to acknowledge her as "Jinx".
So Jinx would be all over him, needing constant validation and attention, but she'd give him all the attention he needs and more. Meanwhile, he wouldn't be nearly as lax or as easy going as Silco used to be, keeping her more in check and potentially shifting how she shows her love (not killing dozens of people in explosions, because Viktor doesn't like that).
So there's this unholy place for them to meet in the middle. She'll give him skinship, pay attention and have his back no matter how crazy he goes, but he just can't ever neglect her or abandon her. He probably has to micro manage her at times just so she's too busy to go nuke something.
Lots of potential for push and pull.
Now imagine how yummy it'd be if Cait finally corners Jinx and wounds her down in Zaun, and while hesitating (because Cait suspects there'll be no coming back from this with Vi if she kills her sister…) Machine Herald just crashes to the ground in full wrath mode. Not only someone hurt his Jinx, but it's Jayce's bestie.
Anyway, have the fully updated file! I have had NO time to paint or draw. Life has been insane. I'm way late on everything… So IDK when I'll have time to paint this or finish the Silco&Evelynn. Urgh. Let alone writing. *Lies down face first*

I'm delusional so this is a small essay on why I think my really self indulgent poly ship would work (sorry in advance if there are any grammar mistakes:P)
Lux/Cait/Sera/Jinx/Gwen essay
(lightcannon) It all started with lux/jinx it works for obvious reasons star guardian and you really got me going music video XD
(sonic boom) then there is Sera/jinx jinx has been through so much pain and trauma that she deserves love and affection but most importantly understanding. Sera didn't experience anything even close to what jinx has been through but she can feel what she feels and help her with understanding all those emotions. also jinx could build something for her to help with the noise and they probably would just build stuff together. Also they both kinda hear voices.
(pistolwhip) With Cait/jinx it depends on where they star as enemy's or strangers but no matter with one it is they just have a lot in common they always wanted to be understood, they where outcasts and only had one friend to relay on. Both of them like guns and at the beginning of the series powder just wanted to help, it didn't change it's just who she's helping and with what means.
Gwen/jinx is very similar to Sera/jinx Gwen can see people for what they really are not the masks they put on she help jinx with her emotions and she can also offer an escape, Because she travels so much she can take jinx to many places meet other people with similar problems like her's and sometimes just help her forget (even if just for a second) all the bad things that she's seen and done.
Now the others
(Shining star)Lux/Cait I like to think they know eachother not really well they talked on some party's but since they hate who they really are for the public image. But one day them and Jinx meet and Jinx just brings out the real them they see how beautiful the other is when honest and it helps being more honest with both themselves and others so they bond over that they can help eachother be more open show their true selves without fear because why care what people think when you have your loves
(laze show) Sera/Lux work really well even with the "lux is crazier" tag Sera did fall for jinx at this point it's a plus. Sera can help lux with all her bottled up emotions and her fear of her own magic while lux can help with Sera's so she has better control and it all can be a bit more quiet. Also their characters would just fit they would definitely lean on to earth other.
Sera/Cait is a interesting one because Cait is Sera's fan and would be freaking out at first but as they would get to know eachother she would be less fangirlie and as she was being more herself around her I think Sera would start to admire and maybe slowly fall in love with Cait's passion and drive to achieve her goals. And Cait loves Sera's determination, how she cares so much and how she knows to make a visible change between the people of Piltover and Zaun
Gwen was the hardest to tie to all of them and honestly only had a good one for Lux. I mostly worked of of voice lines and Gwen is kinda a bad bitch
Gwen/Sera "A stage, a voice, is that really all you are?" "A pretty voice, Seraphine. What a shame that's all you were." I will just ignored the second voice line cuz as I said Gwen really sees people for who they are so she knows that there is more to her then just her perfect idol
(golden thread) Gwen/lux just like with jinx Gwen sees lux's pain, fear and the way she hides who she really is. Gwen want's her to understand her pain and work on it instead of hiding it "You seem happy, Lux, but you know pain too. Why deny it?" "No running from pain, Lux. Next time, shine through it."
(royal blues) Gwen/Cait this is just an idea but maybe Gwen could help Cait not to break her back working, and that she should enjoy her life because there are wonderful things in it and she's missing that because her overwork (this is a suggestion from people on a discord server and I just loved it too much)
So that all was honestly expecting it to be longer XD stay healthy drink some water and have a good night or a nice day

an apology? kind of?
okay . wow. so! i recently made a post asking why a lot of jasico shippers were adults and it kind of . blew up in my face. a bit. and a lot of people made some very good points!! so i am going to address all of it cause i'd feel bad just. ignoring it? and also to explain a bit of my internal thoughts relating to . all of it. just for more clarity.
so. i think the biggest issue people had with what i was saying was that i was uncomfortable with adults shipping minor characters. that has not changed. that is still something that is a bit weird to me. however, that wasn't me trying to outright imply they were pedos????? that is. a very serious accusation and not something i would throw around lightly, especially in this context. like. i get why you would think that. but that was in no way what i was trying to say there. its just something that is weird to me. & im sorry that i wasn't clear enough while expressing that.
i am a minor, which is probably evident by now, and adults in fandom spaces are FINE. i will always support their right to interact with the fans of medias they enjoy. while i personally don't really feel comfortable with them interacting with me, esp in the context of shipping, i am fine with their existence. they can do whatever they want within reason obviously.
also, my intent with my original post was in NO WAY to start discourse or arguments or make anyone feel attacked or uncomfortable. it was just a phenomenon i had noticed and wanted to make like . a bit of a joke about. i seriously did not expect this many people to see it & react the way they did. however i get why you all got defensive, i would have felt the same if i was in your place.
some people seemed almost confused as to why i thought all jasico shippers were adults. um . again that phrasing was mostly a joke. but clearly i do not interact with you guys that much & most of the jasico shippers i have interacted with have been adults . so yk. i generalized you guys a bit. which was entirely my fault & has to do with my own flaws and issues that i am working on. and i am sorry !!!!!!!
to continue on with how my own flaws & issues have impacted this whole . situation: i like having reasons for things. i like it when people can explain their reasoning behind things and i like to be able to explain why i feel a certain way or had a certain opinion so like . idk i guess part of why i cant let myself just not like jasico is because of that. cause nothing is Wrong with jasico. and i know that, so i don't understand why i don't like it??? so like . im trying to find reasons and stuff to explain it to myself and others. if that makes sense??? its like . a really shitty explanation but i am genuinely sorry that my own issues resulted in this whole mess.
anyways . hope that sufficiently gave a bit of explanation for this whole thing? i would like to politely ask that anyone who wishes to continue discussing this either send me an ask or pm me, i don't really want to start any more drama or anything in my reblogs haha.
and once again, i'm really sorry. i'll be deleting my original posts in a couple hours just because this is stressing me out a bit & i don't want them to continue to be a breeding ground for discourse.

I was tagged by @nocompromise-noregrets and @the-red-butterfly, and since I have some time this evening I figured I would get into them!
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 67!
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 2,230,943. I don't know if that's actually a lot but it feels like a lot.
3. What fandoms do you write for? I write for the Tolkienverse (almost exclusively The Hobbit) and for My Hero Academia.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

The weirdest part about the answer to this question for me is that 'more than words can wield the matter' is a one-shot. Love Like Ghosts is only three kudos behind it and has been up for a significantly shorter time, but it was still strange to see.
5. Do you respond to comments? I don't usually respond! I always thank people who commented in the author's note of the next chapter, though. The times I'm most likely to respond are if somebody points out a mistake that needs correction (like the fact that I double-pasted the last chapter of Enough to Go By) or if they've asked for a fun fact I can't resist sharing.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? There are a few candidates, although the fics that qualify for this the most are still at the WIP stage. The best candidates at the moment are probably i'll follow you into the dark (in which Bard and Thranduil face the beginning of an alien invasion together) and Gravity (in which the theory of relativity puts a real damper on their relationship). Apparently space = tragedy to me.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Like @nocompromise-noregrets who tagged me, I write a lot of fics with happy endings. The no-holds-barred happiest endings are probably in Show Me My Silver Lining and Yamada Hizashi's Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Hanukah. Something about when the found family hits just right...
8. Do you get hate on fics? I've gotten some semi-antagonistic comments and some rude bookmarks, but otherwise, all the fic hate I've gotten was back on fanfic.net, when I was writing canon character x oc fics and giving everybody superpowers.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I indeed write smut. I used to have to be intoxicated to do it, but that's changed, and now I can write a full scene while chilling out on my break at work. As for the kind of smut, it used to be pretty solidly non-explicit, but I've recently branched out into more explicit stuff.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I write tons of AUs, but I don't think I've ever written a direct crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't think so. If anyone is considering it, I hope you don't. For your sake. :)
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I have not!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! My co-writers include @dogblessyoutascha and @corndog-patrol, both of whom are awe-inspiringly talented writers and artists.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Barduil, no contest. Almost 1.5 million of my 2 million plus words on Ao3 are devoted to them, and although bagginshield started it all and erasermic got me into BNHA, Barduil's my number one.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I've vowed to finish all my WIPs at some point, so I feel like answering this one will jinx me one way or the other. But the one that's probably furthest down in my list is Insight, aka the genderbent bagginshield/barduil The Village AU.
16. What are your writing strengths? Plot, I think -- I really get a lot out of setting up foreshadowing and twists! I also think I can write a mean action sequence when I really sit down and focus on it. And on several stories the commenters have informed me that I went pretty hard on the horror.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? PACING. I can't write a short fic to save my life.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? If I spoke another language, maybe, but I don't. Usually I convey that other languages are being used with italics in quotes.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Ooh, I'm going to out myself here -- it was for Thor (2011), a canon character x oc. The fic is still out there, since I don't believe in taking stuff down, but being reminded of its existence pains me.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? I don't know that I can choose. My favorites tend to be the ones I'm working on at the moment. My greatest hits are in my pinned post, but I don't think I can narrow them down more than that.

A is for Adventure: something they haven’t done but have always wanted to
Although Echo would much rather endlessly help out with the Resistance and save clones, one of his life goals had been to go swimming. Now he was more or less incapable due to his cybernetic parts, but it didn't stop him from imagining the feeling from time to time. The only time he did get close was slipping on the way back to the ship in escape of the crabs
B is for Butterflies: How they act when they’re nervous
Echo would be very withdrawn and quiet. It mostly stems from what happened on Skako Minor, and you'd found that he was a lot more nervous after that. But you'd find your ways around those nervous feelings and adapt to make sure when you're around him he doesn't have to feel so nervous and unsafe. You do your best to help his nervous habits
C is for Crush: what is it like when they have a crush? How do they know/act?
Awkward glances and stares across the room/ship. He can't admit his emotions properly due to the fear of you not liking him back, so he marvels at you from afar. When he is around you he gets clumsy and sheepish, which made it pretty easy for you to pinpoint he must like you
D is for Date: describe an ideal date for them
He'd prefer something a lot more quiet and something that felt more intimate. Probably a walk on Pabu beach due to the lack of people during the times the sunsets. It'd just be him and you, and he'd bring his own picnic too, although he forgets to put the sandwiches in a box, so when he opened the basket the sandwiches were mushed up
E is for Essential: what is one thing they could NEVER go without
More of a headcanon, but I'd like to think he has Fives' helmet stored somewhere where he can always see it and just think about all his brothers. He makes sure it's in the Marauder if they're on missions, and in their room back on Kamino (before it was destroyed)
F is for Favorite: a favorite anything- food, place, smell, book, etc.
He's grown keen of the smell around the Batch. It's a throwback to "The smell's getting worse' and he's just slowly gotten used to it like Hunter said. You wish you could say the same thing about yourself, you're still slowly adapting to him but Echo helps you out through it. Also convinced his favourite place would be Pabu, just so he can rest and escape the pressures of everything around him
G is for Giggle: how they laugh/what makes them laugh
He laughs at bad jokes. Its not an outright laugh, it's more of a soft chuckle he does occasionally when he finds something funny. Which is why you have a long list of terrible jokes you crack in terrible situations just to hear the chuckle. He can't help it. He'd laugh at something like: What do you call a fly with no wings? A walk
H is for Holding Hands: Do they like holding hands? Are their hands warm or cold? Pinky promises?
Mainly cold because of his cybernetic body, and you can only hold one hand. However you don't mind the cold, you always warm up his hand and make his day. He's taken aback whenever you come along and just scoop his hand up in yours, but he finds your touch comforting
I is for Inside Joke: something they do that everyone thinks is funny but they don’t understand
Echo. His name literally. Its funny to you when he repeats things and gets all confused when he wonders why you're laughing. Like the time he admitted he liked you: but then five minutes later came back saying it again, forgetting he had told you earlier on
J is for Jinx: Are they Superstitious?
Very superstitious. He's made it this far, with surviving the Citadel miraculously and saving all the other wacky and weird missions he'd been assigned whilst with the batch
K is for Kiss: how do they kiss?
Quick and soft. He doesn't want to waste your time and he's scared he'll overdo it if he drags it on longer. You don't think that, but you partake in the quick and soft kisses too just to make sure he feels comfortable. He would love to try and become more confident with longer one's though
L is for Love Languge: what is their love language? How do they give and how would they like to receive love?
Soft and compassionate compliments. He always comes up with different nicknames or adds a loving word at the very end of his sentences when addressing you. You think it's cute. You like to joke and be cute around him, and he loves that you do that. He's trying to get used to a more joky side of himself
M is for Meant to be: how/when they know someone is “the one”
I don't think he'll know for certain because he's worried he could be wrong, but if he thinks someone may stick in his life for a bit he's not too afraid to approach them and engage in conversation. He'd done the same thing with you, and he's overjoyed he did
N is for Nickname: a nickname they would have or their favorite thing to be called
Definitely not Killjoy - coming for Cid for that comment.
I think Echo would love to be called dear or love. Its basic but he loves the basics and traditions
O is for Organization: are they clean or messy?
I feel like he'd be much more clean, however he's messy sometimes too. He'll keep tabs on everyone and make sure they're doing their part and making sure they're doing their cleaning, but then he'll realise he's super behind on his own. Then the puppy eyes ensue as he begs you to help him with his cleaning and you just can't say no
P is for Pet Peeve: What’s something they absolutely CAN’T stand?
Not exactly a pet peeve, but he cannot handle the silence and there needs to be some sort of noise otherwise he'll feel like he's isolated at Skako Minor again. A lot of the times you have to softly talk to him to make sure he falls asleep, and then you can go to sleep too. It fills you with peace and mind that he'll sleep, and it also helps him sleep
Q is for Quiet: What do they do for peace of mind
He likes to talk about his brothers from Domino. He'll tell you stories about how Hevy slipped during training, how Droidbait got absolutely wrecked by the droids and so on. Talking gives him peace of mind. He just wants to let things go
R is for Rainy Day: Do they like rain? What about storms? How would they spend a rainy day?
He hates rain. Mainly because of the whole prosthetic thing but also because of the constant raining on Kamino. He couldn't remember it much though. On stormy days you'd find him and Omega snuggled together, him reading her a book or telling her about clone commands, reciting them from his head like he'd done with his brothers. When Omega would jump because of lightning or thunder Echo would be there to give her a slight squeeze as if to say he's there to protect her
S is for Soft: Describe their softest feature
His softest feature is his hand. Although it's cold, it's also really soft to the touch. You have no idea how he does it but that's why you love holding his hand so much
T is for Telephone: are they a talker or a texter? How often do they use their phone?
He uses comms a lot, so his main method of contact is talking. He's also just used to that because that's what they did during the clone wars. He avoids using the comm often, but most of the time when he does use it hes either warning everyone, or making sure you're safe
U is for Unique: a random quirk they have
Mentioned it before, but the way he repeats things. Its super cute and he's not aware of it unless someone complains. And it's how he got his name so it's very unique
V is for Valentine: Are they the type to celebrate or not?
He would celebrate, I just think you'd be the main initiator. He just needs a little push, because he's still pretty shy. You don't mind it though, you love to dee his confidence grow
W is for Wholesome: something extremely pure about them that makes you just *uwu*
His smile. He has the purest smile and it makes you smile, but also fills you with butterflies because of how soft it is. He doesn't smile much, but when he does you savour every moment
X is for Xenia: How they would entertain a guest/show hospitality
He'd very welcoming but on edge. If it were a stranger he'd watch from afar before approaching. The last thing he wants is to make friends and they turn out to be evil. When he does realise they're okay he ends up chatting with them non-stop about things, just random things
Y is for Youth: A fond childhood memory they have
Most likely a time when he was growing up with his brothers in Domino Squad. He doesn't have a specific one but he enjoyed most of the time with his squad
Z is for Zzz: Sleep habits. Do they cuddle in their sleep? Talk? What do they dream about?
When he sleeps he takes off his prosthetics before just to avoid hurting you. You're the main cuddler, and in the mornings you help him get them back on. He does try his best to cuddle with you. He has his fair share of nightmares caused by things such as the Citadel, but all you need to do is give him a reassuring cuddle and he's back to dreaming

3. What fandoms do you write for?
I've written for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Miraculous Ladybug, Howl's Moving Castle, Spy X Family, and Harry Potter in the past. The majority of my fics are for My Hero Academia. Currently, I've been writing for the Legend of Zelda fandom. I really just follow where my muse takes me.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Probably Bitterness, hehe. Either that or Introspection.

It depends. I've written a LOT of fluff. I think the one with the most hopeful ending is probably Butter Pecan. My fluffiest work is probably Bubbly.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really (hoping this doesn't jinx it, lol). I've gotten some "UPDATE NOW" comments which aren't the greatest, but nothing outright rude.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes! I have a few WIPs right now. I like "porn with plot" and super romantic stuff, so I try to write that. It's hard for me to write just a smut scene with barely any context.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. I've written the MHA characters in the FMAB world, but that isn't a true crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Thank god, not yet. I hope to never have that happen. I hate confrontation.

Nah, but that's okay. If someone wanted to, I'd be honored.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes! I used to co-write stories with my sister all the time! It was such a great writing process, honestly, to be able to bounce ideas off of someone constantly. I also just co-wrote an angsty smut MHA fic with some FANTASTIC authors and friends, called We're Coming Apart (and Falling Together).
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Oof, this is a difficult one. My interests change often, but ones who have taken up the most of my attention are: Royai (FMAB), Ladynoir (Miraculous Ladybug), Izuocha (MHA), and Zelink (Legend of Zelda).
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
All of my chapter fics, lmao. They are all on hiatus, as I have lost inspiration for coompleting them. I want to finish them so badly, but I don't want to force it, either, or else I will be really dissatisfied with the results. A bad ending is worse than no ending, imo.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I really excel at dialogue and setting the mood. I'm very much into the atmosphere and feel of a story. I'm also not bad at remembering body placement in a scene.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Introspection and scenery details. I feel my stories really miss out on an extra layer of complexity when I struggle with introspection, but it is very hard for me to describe feelings without describing something happening alongside it. I worry it is too much "telling" and not enough "showing." I also have a hard time with meeting minimum word counts. As I said earlier, I'm not really verbose.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic.
I think as long as it is done respectfully and faithful to a translator, I think it's okay. I probably would never, though, unless I was learning the language and wanted to practice.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oof, I wrote for a super niche community back in the day - I wrote fanfiction on the Herinteractive forums, which are for Nancy Drew PC games. I wrote AEs (Alternative Endings) to the games. It was a super fun time.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
The one I had the most fun writing was Peach Blossoms. The one of which I am proudest of the end result is Burning.

5. Do you respond to comments? why/why not?
I usually do the week when I post a fic, but i stop after that period of time. I don't respond mostly because I dont know what to say... I love each and every comment!!! I just get nervous.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmmm, I'd say What could have been. It's a DP fic from Phic Phight 2022 and the prompts I used weren't necessarily angst material, but I tied them together in a story meant to leave you empty.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't do "happy" endings? I think I do "realistic" endings - main quest is conquered but we lost and gained things in the way.
I do write a lot of fluff and unapologetic one shots, so I would consider all of those "happy" endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Yes.
Fortunately is not a normal event in my fics, but now that I have dipped my toes in comic book fanfiction I've gotten my fair share of purists and know-it-alls that come to my comments to educate me on what it's "canon" and explain to me how my interpretation is wrong.
That aside, I'm not afraid to portray "problematic" ships and delicate situations ,mainly mental health stuff. I'm not the first or the last person that pour themselves in their writing and use fictional characters as a medium to work on some personal things. Of course that's gotten me enough comments telling me how disgusting I am and how I'm writing XYZ wrong.
9. Do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Yes. I don't have a lot posted, but I have WIPs.
Mostly BDSM and how important it is to trust your partner.
10. Do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one?
Mostly DPxDC!
I did have an insane crossover between Twilight and a book not a lot of people know. TBH im keeping that information to myself xd.

In general I've also been told I describe things in a way you can feel it, like you really are there.
17. writing weaknesses?
English is not my native language and I make a lot of mistakes, grammar wise. Or I let my weird miss matched speech patterns bleed into my characters and make them sound not quite right.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?
Again, I'm native Spanish speaker, so I do write in English regularly xd
Other languages, I'd need someone that speaks that language to help me.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
Inuyasha. I was about 11 years old. Those fics were written in Microsoft Word 2003, in script format (aka "theater" format), and every character had an assigned color and I would switch colors every dialogue line.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, if I don't then there was a clerical error on my part or something. Comments make me feel great so of course I'm gonna return the vibe.
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Gefinn Óðni, maybe. Honestly all my fics currently up have positive or hopeful endings. If I went through my pre AO3 fics I'm sure I could find worse. lol
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Sweets for the Sweet is pure donut eating fluff so probably that. Or But Like A Refugee since someone lives when they would have died in canon.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes, mlm mostly, have written all orientations in the past. Got some m/f and m/m/f coming down the pipeline (in theory lol).
Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I keep mixing Lovecraft into things, so idk if that counts. I keep pondering a GO/Trigun crossover but IDK. One crossover I started 15 years ago, but never finished (I still have it though!) was Kenren (Saiyuki Gaiden)/Kakashi (Naruto) where Kenren was ex military and Kakashi was an assassin whose inner dialogue comes in the form of his dead fellow assassin-former-lover's voice (that'd be Iruka XD). It is 100% the wackiest thing I ever thought up and I honestly would LOVE to finish it.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No but I'd give it a try. Back in the day I did do some writer-artist collabs.
What's your all-time favourite ship? I could not possibly choose one. <- yeah what Jenn said. But I'm gonna go off anyway LOL I cannot separate Kenren/Tenpou, Aziraphale/Crowley and Vash/Wolfwood, they all fell into my lap around the same time in the early 2000s and they all changed my brain chemistry. Even if I never consume a piece of media about them again, they'll live in my head, rent free, for all time. Modern day shout outs, though, to: Eivor/Vili (got me back into writing) Ubba/Vili (kept me writing) and Nanami/Gojo (currently destroying me one molecule at a time).
What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will? As I said, that crossover up there, that would be awesome but it's probably a pipe dream. I do not want to mention any current WIP of the last couple years because I don't want to jinx anything.
What are your writing strengths? I think I write dialogue and banter well, I get a lot of complements on that and I tend to agree. I think I also nail it on longing and loss just from rl experience lol
What are your writing weaknesses? Not being able to finish but a fraction of what I start. And also sometimes I am just not able to convey things how I really wanted them to be.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I know some people get uppity about sprinkling in foreign language in fic dialogue, but, like, there's good ways and bad ways to do it, and sometimes the original language word has no good equivalent in other languages.

Favourite fic you've ever written? Hmmm, well, for better or worse Water of Life is my baby and I love it. lol I have some WIPS though, that I am dying to finish and they might eclipse that love.

20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?
Canon x Oc lmao. As a teenager, I was totally against it, because I wanted desperately to be cool. Now I see the joy and genius behind a lot of them.
Also Solas x anyone. I wanted to scramble and beat that egghead the first time I played. What a shithead ( affectionately)
23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.
Rotation - It's an old fic. Writing the sequel (which is a constant wip rip) showed me how much my style has changed. But I really adore it.
It's about Gamer!Silco meeting a girl and I wrote it for chicken. It's just a cute fic, and I really love it. No smut or anything in this fic, it's all fluff.
45. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
I'm so torn, on one hand, SI is my baby. It's got the most content. Mom!Reader who also is a baker, helping to raise Jinx. It's my most self-indulgent fanfic (and I'm writing the rest of the chapters out before I update rip, so I can end it with all the chapters written.)
but on the other hand, I don't know if it's my best work? I honestly feel Timeless is better quality, just from plot and an evolved writing style and reader is just a bit more funny. But I love Si, still it's my baby. I've written over like 150k things probably for SI, like I love it so much.
So I'm torn, one of those two depending on what they'd like more. Fluff/sometimes angsty fanfic about Reader becoming Jinx's mom and winning her dad's heart too?
Or more in the mood for something that's funny/angsty, I'd go with Silco died but Reader got sent in time to fix things. she's also now haunted by old man Silco ghost while interacting with these young versions of people she knows

Pirate Party Part One
My first thought for this was I bet Ed as a kid like. Was probably way too adultified as a kid and helped look after younger kids back home. Which isn't great but now he's also great with kids! Or that's the positive he takes from it at least to distract from how frustrating that is as a kid to go through.
Then I thought what if he met Stede's kids!
Them I remembered how I never got my pirate ship birthday party that I wanted as a kid.
And then we have this: a combo of all the above.
TW: birth and descriptions of. We go into a flashback re: the birth of one of Stede's kids and it gets Real.
Also I'm sorry I don't have a title yet. I'll get there eventually when I get this posted to my ao3 as well.

"Okay, so as far as the other parents know, all the kids are still at mine, and I have a plan if anyone comes to check," Mary said swiftly. "And the kids have all been told, what kids, say it for me!"
The crowd of approximately 15 children, all crammed onto the main deck alongside his bemused crew, spoke in one high-pitched roar: "We say we stayed at the house!"
"Which is a lie, and normally we don't lie!" Mary continued. "But this time it's okay, because:"
The kids picked up again: "Today we're pirates, and pirates are allowed to lie!"
They dissembled into a bunch of growling and shouts of 'arr!' as Mary handed over the last child to Stede.
"This is a baby," he said of the maybe eight month old baby girl he now held.
"Some of the mums asked if brothers and sisters could come, but luckily only Suzy still has a baby, so at least it's only one," Mary offered, placing a bag of supplies into Ed's hands as he walked up. "Stede, Ed, tell everyone thank you. This is making the kids' day, more than you realize."
"I can tell," Ed noted as a small boy ran by with a knife, a laughing Frenchie running after him. "Kid's birthday party on a pirate ship is pretty fucking cool. No one else in town is gonna beat that. What can they even try? Oh, we brought a pony in, ooh look at this terrifying clown man, fuck that!"
"Right?" Mary beamed. "I owe it to you all of course, but I have to admit I'm feeling a bit prideful now about it. Stede, I think we won the whole parenting thing with this!"
"I don't think you can win that," Stede laughed awkwardly as the baby leaned over him to reach for Ed's hair. "Oh no sweetheart, that'll hurt Mr. Teach!"
"Mr. Teach?" Ed snorted. He gently took the baby from Stede, and held her up so she could attempt to meet his eyes. "Nah, I'm Ed. What do we call you?"
The baby babbled something incomprehensible, and Ed grinned. "No shit! Got a cousin with that name."
He wandered off pointing out parts of the ship to the baby, excitedly explaining rigging and the most boring parts of sailing as if he was telling a riveting tale.
"You know," Mary said. "If you two ever. Want one, of your own. I mean, I know it won't be exactly but-"
Stede cocked his head as she stammered. "Are you blushing?"
She was as she turned and hugged him. "I'm just happy for you. And I want you to have all the happiness you've given me since we broke up. And I don't know what's possible at sea or if you two would even want that, but...if you do. I mean, you remember my pregnancies. Easy and calm and fast labors."
"We never did get that stain out of that carpet from Alma," Stede mused. "Did you ever tell her it was from, well, her?"
"Save that for her teen years," Mary joked. "Not yet, but she'll ask eventually I'm sure. She already knows Dad was the one to catch her."
The memory hit Stede full in the face. Four in the morning, unable to get anyone else to help try and get the doctor, and poor Mary screaming she wasn't going to make it to the doctor's anyway.
It had seemed, or rather he had hoped she was wrong. After all, her waters hadn't broken even yet, and the doctor had said that was sign of being closer to it.
Which was a jinx he put upon himself, as they got as far as the antique rug in the hall before Mary made him stop and help her to the floor.
The rest of it was an odd mix of feelings. He'd felt the fear most strongly, as he'd helped her pull away her underthings and lift up her nightclothes. That was the most instruction she could manage before she hit what he later found out was essentially the last and most intense stage of labor. Head tossed back, but only moaning and groaning, no screaming (which he actually had hoped someone might hear and charge in earlier, but no such luck.)
Then the blur of breaking waters, and Stede begging her why on earth she hadn't said something earlier about this, hadn't she been in pain?
As it turned out she had, but the doctor later found her pain tolerance slightly terrifying when she rated active labor an 8 or a 9, but nowhere near what a 10 would be, and 9 was probably being dramatic, as she'd explained to them.
"I kept expecting it to feel worse than this!" She'd wailed back at him.
"This seems pretty bad though!" He recalled responding, and immediately regretting it but understanding Mary's reaction of kicking him square in the face.
She mumbled an apology, and then suddenly, like that...there. The very top of a head and Mary with her eyes shut, breathing hard, every muscle strained. It was terrifying and impressive and beautiful in a gory way.
But he could only focus on that for a moment, more important was remembering how the doctor had explained it might be best to push, when he'd give Mary instructions, and then horrifyingly he'd have to play that role himself.
"Forgive me if I make this awkward," Stede had told her, earning a withering look from Mary. "I'm. I want to help. I can help with...this, or if you'd like, I'll run for the doctor."
He was hoping and fully expected her to choose the latter option, but she didn't.
"Please stay," she whimpered. "I know we need the doctor and we can get him after. Please don't leave me alone now."
Looking back, he could now see it as one of the times where they did love each other. Not romantically as their parents had hoped, but the love of people who had become friends, who knew each other well now and found comfort in that.
"I'm not going anywhere," Stede had reassured her, though he felt he might vomit from fear. "You're going to be fine, and so is the baby, and then I'll get the doctor after I tuck you up in bed."
"We've already ruined this rug, let's just bring blankets and pillows out here," Mary groaned. "Not ruin the bed too. Fuck me, can I push?"
He looked down and he knew what he'd been told to look for if god forbid this situation happened, but it took a moment to orient himself nonetheless. "I think so. Yes, okay."
He hadn't known until Mary's pregnancy that that was even a part of it, that the pushing could take so much time. The pain Mary seemed to be in was heartbreaking though, and he wanted it over for her sake.
He let her rest a leg on one of his shoulders, and tried to think of what the doctor would do next as he watched more of the head emerge.
"Oh, hang on," he cautioned her, letting her leg drop to reach a hand to the baby's head, but she clearly wasn't at a point where she could stop. The baby's head slipped out and he felt woozy, but moved his fingers to help cradle and guide the baby.
There was no more talking; it just happened from that point on. He could tell people how he heard Mary breathing as hard as ever, groaning with each push, how he heard himself making frightened embarrassing little noises, the feel of his baby's head in his hands, the wetness of that poor carpet beneath them. But he had never managed to put into words all he felt as he watched the shoulders pop free, and then the rest of his daughter's body damn near slid past his hands as he caught her.
And then there was a moment to wipe away her little face, and she wailed. They wailed right with her, out of happiness. It was one of the best sounds he'd ever heard.
Stede was jolted back to reality by an elbow from Mary.
"Did you tell Ed that yet?" She asked. "Bet he'd get a kick finding out that you did spend at least one night covered in blood prior to being a pirate."
Stede smiled. "He would. I haven't yet but..."
He watched Ed, now surrounded by a small gaggle of the younger kids, all doing some dance he'd made up for them that actually seemed to be a way to keep the baby from crying with constant bouncing.
"Rein in the baby fever," Mary giggled. "Make sure he wants that too first."
Stede blushed. "Of course, sorry."
"Don't be sorry; it's adorable," Mary said. "You and him with the kids over there too."
"He is really adorable with them," Stede sighed.
"Oh you've got it bad," Mary said. "Alright, well I'll be back before the evening, like we agreed. Have a good time, and please mind how much sugar they have! Even pirates don't want cavities."
Stede nodded and helped her back to shore, and pondered if any of the crew had seen a dentist in a timely fashion for awhile. Perhaps crew dental appointments were in order, at a proper barber shop in a port!
He let the planning of that consume his mind as he walked back to the shrieking-filled ship.

The appeal of Vander x Silco for me
I have some complex feelings on what I think is appealing about Vander X Silco and there is a lot of cheesy, surface level stuff and I might make a post on this eventually and those are all fun and that.
But I think the main reason why it really sticks with me is a very particular one.
I have mused before that I really like Jinx x Ekko as well and how there are lot of similarities with the whole almost trying to kill each other and the intensity of emotions and the falling apart over morals. But despite the similarities they actually have very different positions in my brain. I like Timebomb of the big drama, high octane angst.
While in a weird way, Zaundads is a comfort ship for me. Which, you know, kind of insane with the whole tried to kill each other/probably genuinely thought that they succeeded in killing the other/scarred each other for life/betrayed the joined dream etc.
But the thing is, I really love Arcane. I just really love all the characters, even the villainous ones like Silco (naturally), Sevika and Singed.
And Vander and Silco (still) loving each other feels like the best, the most natural way to get a real feeling “One Big Happy Weasley Family” ending.
It’s not that having Vander in his life is like the only way I could ever picture Silco being happy. Like, I could picture like an AU where it’s just him and Jinx and her and the environment is just slightly more healthy and he gets genuine joy from her achievements.
But at the same time, in my head, Vander loves Vi, Silco loves Jinx and Jinx and Vi love each other. Silco and Jinx against the world, I could picture making Silco happy. But it would leave Vi sad. Because I don’t think that Silco wants to share, he would hate sharing and if I could maybe with a lot of twisting around picture a version where he makes peace with sharing Jinx with Vi it would 1) likely be a compromised happiness 2.) it would still leave Vander out in the cold.
Like, if I really force it like maybe I can picture a version where Silco is like with some OC who mellows him out and he has both kids and I dunno, Vander is dating Benzo and they are raising Ekko together so he is happy too? And Vander and Silco are at least cordial together?
But to me Vander X Silco loving each other, whether platonically or more is just the easiest and most natural way I can imagine that would resolve the Gordian knot of relationships. And even though it is befitting of the kind of show it is that it is intentional that this knot cannot be resolved, that not everybody can be happy, that’s kind of what makes it a comfort ship. And even though the vast majority of Vander x Silco fic is appropriately tragic and flawed, what makes it special to me is that that taste of just how much better things could be if they got their shit together or if they had never had a falling out is still there, underneath it all.
And it’s just fascinating to me to imagine in what ways the world of Arcane and/or their lives would be better off if they loved each other (again romantically or platonically) and how fascinating it would be for them to find a compromise between their positions on morality vs. action against Piltover.
When I compare it to Timebomb, one thing that is different about Zaundads is that we know that they used to be “happy” together at some time in the past. And it’s also that in a lot of ways, both Vander and Silco are a lot more flexible characters. We know that The Drowning deeply changed Silco, we know fathering Jinx changed his outlook. With Vander we know that he changed from more violent to less violent and we know that as Warwick he will change fundamentally yet again. So trying to imagine a way how they could compromise feels like less of a betrayal.
Like, I could imagine an older, hardened Ekko, who has a rougher, more cynical opinion on murder, but it feels like betrayal of a character who is so neatly positioned as being all about hope. So when I imagine happy timebomb to me it’s often easiest as an AU, where certain things just didn’t happen rather than the problem being more how they have to change their point of view.
Another big thing about Zaundads to me is that Silco feels ... stuck. He’s hung up on that night. He cannot stop talking about Vander. He keeps going back to that night.
And I perceive that trauma to be absolutely fundamentally essential to Silco’s character.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that that night is the reason why Silco is “evil”. He clearly had pre-existing traumas that made him hate Piltover.
But to me the Vander trauma is so essential because I think it is what keeps him from trusting others, from making genuine connection with others. And as such it’s imo the biggest obstacle that keeps him from changing and becoming better (whether as a “better person” or as being less miserable). Because in the end this is how we change, by connecting to others, learning from others, accepting others.
And that is what Silco’s paranoia closes him off from, why he is hyperfocused on Jinx, why he doesn’t want to share Jinx even though that might be good for Jinx.
Don’t get me wrong, I think it is entirely possible that Silco was paranoid and had trust issues before meeting Vander (just like it’s possible that he had less of it when he talks about brothers and sisters), but he was clearly willing to open up to Vander and it was traumatizing to him when didn’t work out.
And no, in real life you don’t resolve your trauma by hooking up with the person who tried to kill you and caused that trauma. But this is fiction and in fiction sex and romance and shipping are ways to resolve dramatic tension and lead it into different paths. For a way to have climax and release in a way that isn’t through violence and with love as a way to make it feel more lasting.
But even outside of shipping I genuinely think that if Silco wanted to change as a person, he would have to properly, more healthily deal with his Vander trauma before he could ever move forward. (again no shade on the “Silco did nothing wrong, you go heavily amoral crime boss revolutionary” crowd, those are cool too)
So the focus is more on imagining how a situation could ever arise where Silco would be willing to be open enough about his trauma and where Vander would be open enough to properly receive that openness so actual catharsis can happen. (again with shipping or without) Something that likely both of them are too stubborn and paranoid about, but that’s why it’s kind of the tantalizing, impossible dream.
Which in my head looks kind of like them meeting on neutral ground and Silco being in essence: “I loved you so much and what you did really hurt me and it really fucked me up” and Vander just pulling him into the world’s biggest bearhug and going “I get it and I’m sorry” and then they both cry like babies and vow try better and to never hurt each other again.

Which again, would never happen, wouldn’t work for the show, it’s debatable whether it would be even deserved. But at the same time I can’t help but feel like it would just be *better* if it were possible, pretty much like I feel like “wow, wouldn’t it just be better if there were a world where Jinx and Ekko didn’t have to fight each other”.

I think some of my critique of the representation of poc, especially the Black characters, in Arcane would be reduced if Vi, Jinx, and Viktor were racebent. Again, poc ought to have roles where they aren’t suffering and are in powerful positions, but in a story like this with themes of classism and systematic oppression, to have almost all the characters of color be a part of the privileged class, cops, or working for an antagonistic white guy and then have the marginalized characters with the most screen time be white isn’t great, even though a lot of them are written with nuance in other ways like Mel and Sevika who I like a lot. Mel is a foreigner which I think adds some nuance to her character in general and in this specific context, but it’s still complicated given the imperialistic history of her family. I will say she stands out as her own character and not just support to Jayce’s narrative, which is important.
Ekko is a great character who doesn’t fall into any of those three roles, but he hasn’t been given the same amount of screen time characters like Vi, Jinx, and Viktor have and they’re the ones who speak the most, or have the most screen time to do so, about the issues the Undercity and its people face. Vi and Jinx, both as individuals and their relationship, are also the center of the story. Given what Jinx specifically represents in the narrative, as a significant product of Piltover’s failings, especially in the end of the season, it would be a more powerful message if she was racebent. Like, to have Silco refuse to give her up would’ve been more impactful if she was a woman of color instead of a white woman, because white women get to be prioritized and made into exceptions all the time. It would also make the scenes where Sevika gets beat up by Vi and Jinx, and I mostly refer to the part where Jinx displays her beat up body to send a message to Silco in his office, WAY less uncomfortable to watch for me because we’re made to root for Vi and Jinx.
In terms of Viktor, having him be the only one from Zaun in Piltover speaking to these issues when the council has, otherwise mostly white or non-human characters, but two dark skinned black women in it, rubs me the wrong way. Sky, a Black woman, is also fridged for some of his character development in act 3. There’s also fandom racism towards Mel's character because she’s a Black woman that gets in the way of a white mlm ship (If you like Viktor and Jayce because their dynamic is genuinely interesting and not because of racism/antiblackness you know who you are and won’t feel personally attacked by this). I personally like both Mel and Viktor and their dynamics with Jayce, but enjoying their characters is hard sometimes because of things like this that can clog the tags.
Of course, these characters are based on a game so there’ll be people who say the show runners couldn’t just racebend characters that already exist, as though that hasn’t happened before in media and the show itself isn’t already diverging from previous canon in other ways. Also within Arcane itself, Caitlyn is shown to be Chinese and white based off of her voice actress and how her father looks and I seriously doubt that was canon before. But Caitlyn is more white passing/not very different from her original design so I haven’t seen, to my knowledge, people saying any negative things about that. Given that Hailee Steinfield’s maternal grandfather is Black and Filipino, I personally like the idea of Vi and Jinx being Black and Filipina as well. I don’t have a particular headcanon for what I’d racebend Viktor to be tho.
I think I might also include Vander in this because it’d be nice if Vi and Jinx’s adoptive dad, who’s a liked figure in The Lanes and has had a huge impact on their lives, was also a poc. I’d probably keep Silco white, not because he’s antagonistic but because poor white people exist and I don’t have a problem with him and other notable characters from Zaun, with various moral alignments, like Benzo, Mylo, Claggor, and that lady Silco was allied with being white. I won’t pretend that there aren’t poc who are cops in real life either, but to have Vi and Jinx be racebent and visibly darker than Grayson, Marcus and Caitlyn would help make the juxtaposition of those characters together a bit less sketchy, at least to me.
The way poc, and Black people specifically, are presented on this show is a complex discussion and I’m just one Black woman talking about this, but these are just some of my thoughts on the matter as of right now. There’s a lot of things I like about Arcane and it’s writing which is why I’m invested in the show. I just think tweaks like this could make an already nuanced and fleshed out story, richer.
