Sakusa’s Little Cheerleader..
warning : smut, fem! reader, breeding kink, soft dom sakusa, MSBY team
wc - 2.5k
a/n - this is one of my older works, so the pacing might be a little weird but overall, enjoy !
summary : you’re a little cheerleader that’s so infatuated with Kiyoomi Sakusa
You’ve been a cheerleader for the MSBY Black Jackals for a few months now, but you couldn’t help but notice the quiet, stand-offish curly head. When the cheer squad and the volleyball team would have joint practices, you always caught yourself staring at him. The way his black hair swished at every move he made and how he’d avoid the other players. It wasn’t until a big win that you finally decided to talk to him.
“You guys did great!” you say in an overexcited tone. “Oh, thanks y/n-chan” Atsumu says as he wraps his arm around your neck. Atsumu was always a touchy person towards you. Some days it was more flirtatious and others, friendly. He smelled like sweat and you couldn’t wait to be released from his grip. “You too, Sakusa” you say in a quiet voice, the man slowly turning around as he was walking out of the locker room. His hair was wet and he was wearing sweatpants with a black t-shirt, he most likely showered after the game. “Thanks” he hums, sounding a bit muffled under his mask. “Hey! Hey! Hey! We should definitely celebrate this” Bokuto exclaims in an overconfident tone. “Let’s go out to eat! c’mon y/n” Atsumu says. this is exactly what you wanted, an opening to talk to Sakusa, to know more about his personality. “No” Sakusa says quickly as to shut them up when he walks out of the venue and into his car. “Don’t worry, he’s definitely coming”Hinata says as he appears from nowhere.
“What do i wear? Is it a formal event? Casual?” You thought to yourself. You wanted Kiyoomi to notice you, but what if you looked to sexy or too bummy. You settle on a white silk tight, mid thigh dress. The back was strappy and the front lifted your breasts nicely while still being modest. Your phone suddenly dinged.
“hey best friend! we’re coming to pick you up in about 10 minutes” The text read. You honestly didn’t know why Atsumu referred to you as a best friend but it really didn’t bother you. Your heart was racing, finally a night with Sakusa. A loud honk of a car startled you, making you come out of your thoughts. You quickly grabbed your purse and phone and headed out.
“Sit in the front seat!” Bokuto yelled out of the backseats car window. The wind chilly on your skin as you walked to the car. It was dark outside and the only thing you could see were the streetlights and the black car in your driveway. You opened the car door and to your surprise, Sakusa was in the drivers seat. You shyly sat down, as your heart almost thumped out of your chest. He looked so sexy in his black suit. His hair was slightly gelled back but still curly and the white mask he was wearing added the right amount of contrast to his outfit. He drove off as Hinata, Atsumu, and Bokuto were bickering in the backseat. Every so often sakusa would take glances into the rear view mirror.
“How come i look like a squirrel and Omi-Kun over here looks like a god” Atsumu complains as he fixes up his suit jacket. You chuckle to yourself at Atsumu’s comment. Sakusa takes a quick glance at you. You feel his eyes go from your pretty face down to your exposed thighs. He reaches for the volume nob to turn the music up and drown out the sound of the backseat.
You finally arrive at your destination. It’s a fancy looking restaurant with many people waiting outside. He puts his arm behind your seat as he tries to back into an open parking spot. You try not to let your eyes trail on him for too long, fearful of if he caught you. He finishes parking and you grab your purse about to open the door until you hear a “wait” from Sakusa. You do as the tall man says, watching as all four men get out of the car.
Sakusa walked around to the front of the car then to your door. He opens it for you and grabs your hand as you step out. “Thank you” you say to him, finally taking in his scent. He smelled so clean, with hints of strong expensive Versace cologne. “Thank god i got a reservation” Bokuto states as all five of you walk towards the front of the restaurant. “Right, this place is packed” Hinata replies. You look down at your outfit as you walked next to Atsumu. He nudged your shoulder, noticing you being a bit more timid than usual. He moves from your side to behind you gripping you into a bear hug. “ahhh y/n! why are you so quiet!” You couldn’t help but laugh at the feeling, he eased your stress.
“Stop being so loud and walk” Sakusa says, annoyed. You arrived at the doors of the restaurant. The inside was classy and was dimly lit. You followed behind the host as she took you to your seats. You sat near the wall in the booth with Atsumu on your left side and Sakusa across from you. He looked so handsome, just sitting there looking at the menu.
After you placed your orders and talked for a while, you feel arms wrap around your waist tickling you. It was obviously Atsumu who couldn’t stop himself from being childish in a public setting. “Stop. Obviously she’s uncomfortable” Sakusa says in a gruff voice, face still fixated on the menu in his hands. “No it’s fine, you don-“ You try to say before Sakusa cuts you off. “I’m sorry, he doesn’t know how to behave” He says now looking out the window of the booth. “Oh chill out, Omi-San” Hinata says in a playful voice that lifts the mood.
____________________________________
After you’ve all ate and paid for your meal, you load back into the car. Sakusa opening your door once again. The drive home was much more quieter now because the energetic crew was sleeping. “You seem responsible” You say to Sakusa as he drives. “I guess. I have to deal with these idiots most of the time”. You chuckle as the words roll of his tongue. A smile creeps from the corners of his lips as he hears you laugh. “How long have you been cheering” He asks, taking a glance at your thick thighs. “Ever since i was in middle school. I took a small break in highschool but decided to try again. How long have you been playing volleyball?” you ask him.
He starts talking about how Komori got him into it. His voice was as light as whipped butter and soothed your soul. He grabs his phone to look at his GPS, helping him find his way to drop off the sleeping idiots in the backseat. One by one, he dropped them off home, starting with Hinata, then Atsumu, to Bokuto. “Thanks bro!” Bokuto says as he steps out the car rubbing his sleepy eyes.
“It’s still kind of early, do you want to talk a bit more at my house?” Kiyoomi offers. “Sure, why not” You reply. You were honestly confused about what the outcome of this night would be.
—————————————————————
He unlocked his front door and invited you into his home. The interior was what you’d expect from him, big and dark. The living room was spacious with a black couch and atleast a 135 inch TV built into the wall. The kitchen had dark marble and there were so many rooms, obviously all being clean. He directs you to his couch and picks up a bottle of wine with two wine glasses. He lights a candle on his coffee table. You looked up at the high ceiling, as he poured your drinks. He handed you your glass as he questioned.
“I hope you’re okay with rosè”. You nodded cutely and chucked. He sat down next to you, cautious of personal space. The night went on as you two chatted about almost anything possible. He was unusually bubbly, adding to his sexy allure. “Wait, you haven’t dated anyone in how many years?” He asked slightly buzzed from the wine. “Four” You answer with a giggle. His eyes widening. “I refuse to believe that.” He says, realizing he might’ve said too much. He slowly moves closer to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders as he looks you deep in your eyes, taking a sip from his glass. Your heart starts pounding a bit too hard and you feel pounding somewhere else as well. He sets his glass down. “Please tell me you’ve been touched atleast” He says in a low tone. “Maybe....” You tease.
He stands up, his dark figure looming over you. He grabs your hand and leads you upstairs. It was so dark but somehow he knew exactly where he was going. He opens a tall door and there it is, his bed. A california king, so obnoxiously large for no reason. He drags you to the middle of the end of the bed.
You sit down as he stands in between your legs. He lightly taps your shoulder, indicating for you to lay down. He slowly creeps atop of you, kissing your lips once meeting your face. His kisses were sloppy and tasted of alcohol. He couldn’t possibly be this drunk. You kiss him back, wrapping your arms around his neck and playing with the curls at the nape. You let out a light moan as he starts to kiss your neck. You could feel his cock harden as it brushed against your pathetically clothed clit. He lifts himself up ever so slightly. “Do you want me to stop?” He questions, big dark brown eyes lidded with lust. You shake your head and pull him down to kiss you more. His hands roamed around your body, his fingers meeting the lace of your panties.
He slowly slides them down your thighs and onto the floor. He motions for you to put your arms up as he removes the small silk dress off you. You were in nothing but a bra, feeling so pathetic and small under him. You sit up and take the bra off before laying back down.
His eyes trail down to your now glossy cunt. He dips his head down and wraps his tongue around your clit. “Kiyoomi” you moan. He sticks in a long finger, swirling your slick around your walls. The pleasure is unmatched, everything about this man was so perfect to you. He starts to pump in and out, curling his finger to find your sweet spot. He adds another, keeping the rhythm. You started to clench down on him as his pace fastened. His fingers were so long and they were drilling that sweet spot of yours.
You felt the knot build in your stomach as he kept swirling his tongue around your clit and pumping his digits in. You attached your fingers into his hair as you felt your orgasm wash over you. He looked at the mess you made on his fingers and slipped them into his mouth. “You taste good” He says landing a gentle kiss on your forehead. You pant softly as you watch him undress, his body even sexier than you imagined.
He gives his cock a few quick pumps before aligning himself with your entrance. He was just the right size, and so thick. All you wanted to do earlier was get to know him but now you’re sprawled out in his bed about to take his inches. He slowly pushes himself into your sopping wet cunt, hissing at the feeling of you tightening around him. The stretch felt too good, you were for sure you were going to cum right then.
He starts to thrust, grunting as he kept bruising your cervix. “k-kiyoomi” You say through pants and breaths. He was pounding you so good, you felt your body lax. “You’re taking me so well, baby” He says leaning into your ear. Moans and skin slapping filled the large room. You couldn’t even manage to say anything but words along the lines of “omi, please”. He kept going, even harder this time. You cup your hand over your breast and play with your nipple, pinching and rolling your thumb over the bud. You felt a sudden force on the back of your thighs. Sakusa now had you folded like pretzel and he kept thrusting. It hurt but you loved the pain.
His grunts and groans making you feel hot and flustered. He rested your legs over his shoulders as he gripped your waist. His thrusts getting sloppier. You wanted to cum, you were almost there, then he reached down to your clit. He rubbed it in small circles. You felt were so close to releasing. Just a few more thrusts and you creamed all over his cock. He groaned at the feeling. “Please let me fill you up” Sakusa moaned as he was chasing his own high.
You didn’t know what to say, you were already fucked out and too hazed to even think. You nodded. He slowly pounded deep into you as he let his seed coat your insides white. “Cumming” he groaned, balls deep.
You both waited to catch your breaths. He grabbed the baby wipes on the dresser behind him and clean you both up. He was really thorough, as you expected from him. “We should probably shower” He suggests as tucks his cock back into his underwear. He runs the water in the shower. He picks you up bridal style to the front of the shower, where you both undressed and cleansed yourselves.
After the shower, he gives you his MSBY practice shirt and boxers to sleep in. You walk into the bathroom as you watch him do his skincare routine. There were so many steps but it was all so fascinating. He looks at you with a light chuckle. You sit down on the stool in front of the mirror, resting your head in your hands. “You look nice with that on” He compliments. You let your tired eyes get the best of you as you drift off to sleep.
He finishes his nightly tasks then picks you up and brings you to his bed, where you both snuggled until he fell asleep.
side story:
“Ding Dong!” You both jumped up at the startling sound of someone outside. Sakusa puts on his sweatpants and jogs down the stairs, you follow behind. He opens the door, slightly peering through. “Hey, i left my wallet in your car oh-“ Atsumu says as he looks at the both of you. You were standing behind kiyoomi like a frightened dog. “What’s this” atsumu asks. Sakusa hands him the keys to his car, without saying a word. “No wonder you were so protective of her last night, Omi-Kun” Atsumu says as he walks away from the door and walks to Sakusa’s car.
Kiyoomi turns to you with a chuckle.

Me: *waiting after the cliffhanger when Azami gets kidnapped by punks* *already imagining all the super dramatic and action packed ways this could go down*
Also Me: oooh sakyos gonna be maaaaad, and everybody’s gonna fight this is going to be so epic
What actually happened: *five nights at Freddie’s rejects come and save the day*
Tumblr media
To be honest, the way they drew this is legit terrifying. Look at the backlighting, and the threatening poses, I mean GOSH.
And then, Banri comes out and starts speaking in that BUNNY VOICE, and I just died. That was a kill shot, on my tombstone it will read, killed by Banri’s use of the bunny voice at an unexpected time. I’m wrtiting this from the grave I expect to see you all at my funeral.
Tumblr media
After all the suspense that was built up, all the time I had to wait for this, all the senarios that played out in my head of how this would go down. NONE OF THEM, NOT ONE INCLUDED THE BUNNY SUITS AND CARTOOISH VOICES.
Also JUZAAA
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THATS SO CUUTE
Absolutely PRECIOUS
Only autumn troupe could manage to make me be on the edge of my seat with the action, blushing and screeching from the cuteness, and laughing at the funny parts, while still getting emotional about the story.
I mean seriously Juza, you couldn’t come up with anything better than “BEAAAAAAAAR!” You’re an actor for Pete’s sake. (Just kidding I love him with all my heart and soul)
Also, I didn’t get the whole Omi being the Wolf reference to his past when they first did this at the school, and I love that little touch, MORE THAN I CAN EXPRESSS IN WORDS. I also love how you’ve got Banri, Juza, Sakyo, and Omi knocking some heads together and Taichi is just like everyone’s cheerleader, watching and going “oooh” and “awesome!”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, Omi angry voice is soooooo frigggin cool, and impactful because Omi just doesn’t get angry like that.......
I was not disappointed Sakyo was not just angryyyy..... but soft.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly.....?!
HONESTLY, A3??!
I don’t know how much more emotional whiplash I can take.
Sakyo, the guy who lost his cool so much that he stepped on his glasses the last time he thought Azami’d been hurt. Sakyo, who openly admits to thinking of himself as Azami’s “guardian” (sakyo nobody is buying it so you might as well call him your son dammit) Sakyo, the practical, strict man, who couldn’t bear to crush this kids dreams, WHOLY crap.
This probably sounds like complete jibberish, that’s because it is, that’s because this is pure feelings on this post, and nothing else.
Sakyo takes the time, right here to ask if Azami is ok, less to ask, and more to reassure Azami, he takes the time to say “We’ll be right there.” And the WAY HE SAID IT GETS TO ME EVERY TIME I HEAR IT. Compared to the way Sakyo usually speaks, it’s a bit softer but also firmer.
Honestly, Sakyo says just the right thing to reassure Azami without making it look like he’s trying to be reassuring, or like he’s coddling Azami, because that would only embarrass Azami. Honestly, Sakyo literally knew just the right thing to say to him, and I THINK THATS JUST SO PERFECT YOU KNOW.

Banri
Tapp my Ban-chan mutual <3 [I had to redo this twice aghdbdh sorry fof it being so late-]
What I love about them:
At first it really was how well he was designed, but in all honestly I admire how confident he is, along with the complexity he has over that very fact.
What I hate about them:
xhdjdj I will admit I was a Juza oshi at first, so the constant picking fights and miscommunicating gets me- but I'm glad he grew from that. [I also didn't like how he was treated by the fandom at the time I joined, so that had a major impact]
Being honest he's like. The representation of repressed while being cis, white and straight [bahaha typing that was so weird] at the very beginning of the game, but he grows so 🧍‍♀️
Favorite Moment/Quote:
I think the most memorable for me were the earrings he bought, solely cause the director was interested and the racing toy car card. He's actually very invested in things and these two cards really show how fast his brain wraps around it, but also- how he can act on his feelings if he really wants to [ban chan my love for earrings...]
What I would like to see more focus on:
I REALLY want more moments like his toy car card where he genuinely just has fun regardless of what's expected of him. Gender roles be damned this boy deserves to live outside of the teen boy stereotypes! Let him be everything :) (liber put his HAIR UP MORE PLEASE AHXVZJ)
What I would like to see less focus on:
I couldn't think of much since I haven't read many of his stories, but I think his fighting with Juza (Like address ur inner conflict sir- you're literally doing just fine, no need to take it out on the very obviously Poc/minority reference right there-)
Favorite pairing with:
Sakuya, I don't focus on ships a lot since I don't have good experiences, but I sincerely think that in this relationship neither would judge each other- rather Sakuya helps him see from a new and open mindset, while Banri helps Sakuya get out of his head or ground himself. They compliment each other season wise too (motifs my beloved <3)
Favorite friendship:
Taichi and Omi, Taichi (as he takes his spot as cheerleader very seriously) can actually learn a lot about confidence from him, and Banri could certainly use some actual support from time to time. Omi on the other hand, really has a similar conflict in he is forced to play a part he didn't want- I think seeing them both do what they want to (side-by-side) is amazing.
Special mention is Azami because I just- rowdy boys I adore.
NOTP:
Idk any, probably big age gaps [in a romantic/grooming sense] since that's a personal no- but he can grow from learning abt those around him!
Favorite headcanon:
I absolutely think he likes trinkets, even if it's the cheesiest little things from others because it's a material good with actual meaning rather than what's popular (he's similar to Kazu in that aspect!!). Also- canonically he loves going to karaoke so I think being able to just 'guys being dudes' with Mankai was something he really needed.

Music and Nature - one in the same?
Where is music in nature? Where is nature in music?
An article quoted in this week’s content called “The Music of Nature and the Nature of Music” was way too similar to the questions that we are asking this week to not read further (Gray et al., 2001). What I learned from this article is the intersection between music of humans and animals. The connection between composition of whale sounds and human music is so similar in: length, repetition, rhythms, rhymes and more.
Tumblr media
The same occurs with birds, their songs mimic the same scales and pitch of Western music.
Tumblr media
The article also discusses the changes that environment impacts human music, that “[p]eople who live close to nature perceive a wider range of sounds than those of us living in industrialized societies, who rely heavily on advances in sound technology.” They also explain the instruments found made of bone that resemble today’s recorders but are from 50,000 years ago. The material though makes me wonder, if it is made of bone, is it a sound of nature? If we connect to the Indigenous knowledge that we discussed in this week’s content, we are also a part of nature. So, the music that we create, is IT nature or is it IN nature? I think both.
Some artists that connect nature and music
A Tribe Called Red
This band is a group of Indigenous Canadians that create Electric Pow Wow music and their performances often feature traditional hoop dancing, which is a dance that tells stories by creating animals and symbols (nature). The first video in this article tells you about the band members and why they do what they do. I was able to see them at Hillside Festival in Guelph back in 2018 and it was so powerful and so fun. https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/a-tribe-called-red
Bjork
This MTV article describes “Biophilia” a tendency to focus on life and it’s processes and the title of Bjork’s 2011 album. Her music is influenced by science and sounds of nature. http://www.mtv.com/news/2694814/the-sound-science-of-bjorks-biophilia/
What song takes you back immediately to a natural landscape?
The answer to this is a bit of a weird one. The song that I can think of with the most outdoor memories attached to it is Cheerleader by OMI. This song came out the summer of my first whitewater canoe trip along the Madawaska River and someone in the group came on the trip with it stuck in their head and it became the painful anthem of our trip. Somehow that song is associated with all the emotions and memories that I associate with that trip. The feeling of conquering a rapid that we weren’t sure we would make without dumping, in the pride and pure joy of making it we would sing the song to each other. I also remember being so distracted singing and carelessly going down a portage that I walked into a branch and cut my forehead. The time we sang it most often were the hours of paddling between rapids. It’s the afternoon, your feet are soaked, the sun is hot, arms aching from the same motion over and over again. The view of the reflection of the yellow canoe on the water and the sound of people singing intermittently to keep up the mood. It’s a different feeling to sing a song when you know that there’s no one else around to hear you but the friends singing along with you.
Tumblr media
image: This is a photo of me and my paddle partner taken by a group member on the canoe trip described above.
I listened to the song again now as I wrote to remember the feeling, except that it’s the memories of the limited lyrics and altered version that we sang and not the recorded song that means anything to me.
I don’t have many songs that I connect with natural landscapes because usually I don’t listen to music when I’m in nature. Anyone else?

hello hello! could i get a shufflemancy for my relationship with shuichi in my kaede canon? thank you~ i hope this is specific enough.
Yep!
The song I received was “Cheerleader” by OMI. This came from my playlist which holds over 500 songs which I did a random shuffle on!
This song right off the bat gives such a pure and wholesome vibe! I believe the relationship between you two was of mutual love and respect for each other, both of you being able to trust and rely on one another to cheer the other on. The song consistently talks of how the singer always has his cheerleader who is always there for them when they need them, stays on their side, believes in them, and many other positive attributes that would naturally create a strong bond and clear trust between both parties. Both of you would have this type of strong bond and clear trust between one another, never doubting the other.
The song also references of how people ask the singer whether or not they made them feel like cheating, in which they replied that they wouldn’t because they had found the one for them. I believe this can imply that in your relationship with Shuichi that you two were fully committed to one another! Even with other tempting offers, whether it be from motives or the people around you, the two of you wouldn’t leave the other’s side and remained loyal to the very end.
To add onto that, a stanza from the song that I would really like to note and touch on is, “She gives me love and affection; Baby did I mention, you’re the only girl for me; No I don’t need the next one; Mama loves you too, she thinks I made the right selection; Now all that’s left to do is just for me to pop the question”. It’s pretty long, but this stanza in this song gives me such huge vibes that the relationship between you two was fulfilling for both sides and you two complimented each other perfectly! The others around you would support you two and be able to see the unbreakable bond that had been created between you and Shuichi. No one could stop you two from achieving the goals you made with one another, giving each of you one of the strongest powers possible in a relationship.
I hope this was a satisfactory shufflemancy! I’m also sorry for taking so long to deliver it, but I hope you enjoy it !! I always add this disclaimer, but just a casual reminder that this song can have many different interpretations, but this was the overall view I held from the song! If you would like me to redo this, though, please let me know! And also, please let me know if you would like anything else !!

Tagged by the lovely @jammeke. Thank you!
rules: list the top ten songs you are listening to nowadays and tag ten mutuals.
1. “Cheerleader” (Omi Cover) by Pentatonix – Okay so the words bug the heck out of me and I don’t like the original but this version has grown on me so that I’ve literally been listening to it non-stop for the last week or two. It makes me happy. And I think I’ve memorized all the harmonies at this point.
And I will try not to make this entire list about Pentatonix songs, so...
2. “Who Do You Love” by Marianas Trench – I’m a sucker for good harmonies and an epic drum beat. Plus, the words give me such Neal Cassidy/Swanfire feels. <3 (I love so many of Marianas Trench’s songs, too.)
3. “Where You Are” from “Moana” – my first “Moana” obsession was “How Far I’ll Go” but I quickly became obsessed with this song once I finally saw the movie. I’ve listened to it a ridiculous amount of times in the last few months. (I also love “You’re Welcome” and “Shiny” but I think I especially love the harmonies in this song.)
I’m sensing a theme here.
4. “Save the Last Dance for Me” by The Drifters – So the words are a little creepy, but I love the vintage feel. And now it gives me Mad Whale feels because of @silkendreamer and her fics and her pointing out this clip. Um, also, harmonies.
5. “Not Over You” by Gavin deGraw – his voice and the piano and the lyrics... <3 Um and I like singing harmony along with it. But also THE SWANFIRE FEEEEEEEEEEELS.
6. “I Lived” by OneRepublic – lovely lyrics and upbeat music that somehow gives me lots of angsty Neal Cassidy feels. (I blame @zoe19blink and her video that I picture every time I hear this song. I always “hear” Henry/John Watson saying “Don’t. Be. Dead.” Annnnd then I’m a wreck.)
7. “Jane’s Jig” from the “Miss Austen Regrets” soundtrack – I love soundtrack music anyway but this is particularly fitting because it’s perfect for my Red Cricket pioneer fic where Archie plays the fiddle. Also, this old folk tune is used in the middle of a Penny Merchant’s Song. If you get that reference I will love you forever.
8. “The Virgin Queen” by Martin Phipps and The Mediæval Bæbes – I just think this is one of the coolest songs ever. (The whole soundtrack to the “The Virgin Queen” is AMAZING though the series itself is underwhelming.) It sounds medieval, especially with the choir, but then it’s got electric guitar and sax and how the eff does that still work? But it does and it’s amazing.
9. “Love Me Now” by John Legend – The drums(?)! The vocals! THE RED CRICKET ANGST FEELS. I love it. It particularly makes me think of @silkendreamer‘s fic so, you know, lots of sad Archie/Ruby feels even though it’s a bit fluffy too?
10. “Misbehavin’” by Pentatonix – Had to end with Pentatonix. I just think the beat and the harmonies are particularly PERFECT. I could listen to this all day. (Also, it does make me think of Mad Whale. <3)
I love so many songs but my top faves are usually upbeat and fun to sing along with. :D
Tagging: @boleyngirl39, @zoe19blink, @lunasink, @storyinmyeyes, @mystical-flute, @a-mi-zivi, @dreamlikemusings, @onceuponanovel, @austennerdita2533, @ilovecorgibutts – should you like to do it!

Do you know if guys do the thing where when they start posting romantic music It does really mean something? My guy has been posting some musics and I have no Idea If its random or not. (For reference, the musics were Cheerleader - Omi, sugar - Maroon 5, thinking out loud - Ed Sheeran and I'm yours - Jason Mraz) what do you think?
I think if he never posted them before and only recently started, then it could potentially mean something. Everyone is difference so it’s hard to say for certain, but I think there’s a good chance he’s posting them more than just randomly! Those songs in particular are definitely very romantic, so he must be thinking of someone special when posting (aka you!)

From religion to pop songs, US culture makes male sexual exclusivity into a great feat for which they deserve extraordinary credit and praise.
By Tristan Bridges, PhD; originally posted at Gender & Society.
Two songs that seemed like they were on the radio every time I tuned into a pop station last summer were Omi’s single, “Cheerleader” (originally released in 2015) and Andy Grammar’s song, “Honey, I’m good” (originally released in 2014). They’re both songs written for mass consumption. Between 2014 and 2015, “Cheerleader” topped the charts in over 20 countries around the world. And, while “Honey, I’m Good” had less mass appeal, it similarly found its way onto top hit lists around the world.
They’re different genres of music. But they both fall under the increasingly meaningless category of “pop.”  And, because they both gained popularity around the same time, it was possible to hear them back to back on radio stations across the U.S.  Both songs are about the same issue: each are ballads sung by men celebrating themselves for being faithful in their heterosexual relationships.  Above is Omi’s “Cheerleader.” Here is the chorus:
All these other girls are tempting / But I’m empty when you’re gone / And they say / Do you need me? / Do you think I’m pretty? / Do I make you feel like cheating? / And I’m like no, not really cause / Oh I think that I found myself a cheerleader / She is always right there when I need her / Oh I think that I found myself a cheerleader / She is always right there when I need her
In Omi’s song, he situates himself as uninterested in cheating because he’s found a woman who believes in him more than he does. And this, he suggests, is worth his fidelity. Though, he does admit to being tempted, which also works to situate him as laudable because he “has options.”
Andy Grammar’s song is a different genre. And like Omi’s song, it’s catchy (though, apparently less catchy if pop charts are a good measure). Grammar’s video is dramatically different as well. It’s full of couples lip syncing his song while claiming amounts of time they’ve been faithful to one another. Again, and for comparison, below is the chorus:
Nah nah, honey I’m good / I could have another but I probably should not / I’ve got somebody at home, and if I stay I might not leave alone / No, honey I’m good, I could have another but I probably should not / I’ve gotta bid you adieu and to another I will stay true
youtube
Unlike Omi’s song, Grammar’s single is a song about a man at a bar without his significant other. He’s turning down drinks from a woman (or women), claiming that he doesn’t trust himself to be faithful if he gives into the drink. Instead, he opts to leave the bar to ensure he doesn’t give in to this temptation.
Both songs are written in the same spirit. They’re songs that appear to be about women, but are actually anthems about what amazing men these guys are because… well, because they don’t cheat, but could.
I was struck by the common message, a message at least partially to blame for why we all heard them so much. And the message is that, for men in heterosexual relationships, resisting the temptation to be unfaithful is hard work. And this message helps to highlight key ingredients of contemporary hegemonic masculinities: heterosexuality and promiscuity. Both men are identifying as heterosexual throughout each song. But, you might think, they’re not identifying as promiscuous. So, how are they supporting this cultural ideal if they appear to be challenging it? The answer to that is all in the delivery.
Amy C. Wilkins studied the ways that a group of college Christian men navigated what she terms the “masculinity dilemma” of demonstrating themselves to be heterosexual and heterosexually active when they were in a group committed to abstinence. Wilkins discovered that they navigated this dilemma by enacting what she refers to as “collective processes of temptation” whereby they crafted a discourse about just how masculine they were by resisting the temptation to be heterosexually active. They ritualistically discussed the problem of heterosexual temptation. And, in so doing, Wilkins argues that the men she studied, “perform their heterosexuality collectively, aligning themselves with conventional assumptions about masculinity through the ritual invocation of temptation” (here: 353). It’s hard to craft an identity based on not doing something. But if you’re going to, Wilkins argues that temptation is key.
Similarly, Sarah Diefendorf found that young evangelical Christian men navigate their gender identities alongside pledges of sexual abstinence until marriage. Men in Diefendorf’s study used one another as “accountability partners” to make sure they didn’t cheat on their pledges if they were in relationships, but even with things like pornography or masturbation. As Diefendorf writes, “These confessions… enable these men to demonstrate a connection with hegemonic masculinity through claims of desire for future heterosexual practices” (here: 658-659). In C.J. Pascoe’s study of high school boys navigating tenuous gender and sexual identities, she refers to this process more generally as “compulsive heterosexuality.”
Both songs are meant to situate the two singers as great men, men to be admired. But, being able to listen to this message and “get it” means that you can take for granted the premise on which the songs are based—in this case, that men are hard-wired to be sexual scoundrels and that heterosexual women should count themselves lucky if they are fortunate enough to have landed a man committed to not living up to his wiring. Without understanding men as having a natural and apparently insatiable sexual wanderlust, these songs don’t make sense.
Both Omi and Grammar need the discourse of temptation to frame themselves as noble. If we want to challenge men to not cheat, we should be challenge the idea that they’re working against biologically deterministic inclinations to do so. I’m not sure it would make a top 20 hit, but neither would it recuperate forms of gendered inequality through the guise of dismantling them.

The secrets of a hit summer song – BBC News
Image copyright BBC / Getty Images
Image caption Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Shakira have all scored major summer hits
Summer is a magical time of year - the days stretching into one another as the tarmac steams and fruit ripens under a cloudless sky.
The warm-weather splendour also gives rise to a unique cultural phenomenon: The Summer Song.
Euphoric, frothy and fun - it's often as fleeting as the season itself, falling out of favour as soon as the leaves fall off the trees.
An early contender for this year's title seems to be Luis Fonsi's Despacito - a slinky, sensual slice of reggaeton ("despacito" means "slowly," referring to the speed of his seduction technique).
A worldwide hit earlier this year, it received a boost in the UK and the US after Justin Bieber jumped on the remix, singing an extra verse in a mixture of English and phonetically-learned Spanish.
But after eight weeks at number one, it could just be an extended drum-roll for the real song of the summer... whose identity we've yet to discover.
So what makes a summer smash? We've worked out six of the key ingredients below; while stars including Royal Blood, Dua Lipa and Clean Bandit nominated their song of the summer on this page.
1) It has to be simple
Image copyright Getty Images
The sun is out, school is out, and songs displaying any degree of emotional complexity are out.
Take, for example, Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You - four minutes of French funk built upon a brutally efficient four-bar loop, that became the signature sound of summer 1998.
Big, brash pop songs also fit the bill, with Rihanna's Umbrella (2007) and Little Mix's Black Magic (2015) both benefitting from a summer boost.
NB: This rule doesn't just apply to songs. Summer blockbusters are the dumbest form of cinema; "beach reads" are inevitably schlock romances and thrillers; and summer TV is epitomised by Big Brother and Love Island.
Basically, we all become idiots in the heat.
2) It should make you feel like you're on holiday
Image copyright Getty Images
Image caption Los Del Rio: Heeeeeyyyyy Macarena
The rise of affordable package holidays in the 1980s prompted an influx of European songs to the summertime charts. Holiday hits like Spagna's Call Me, Sabrina's Boys and Opus's Live Is Life were all smuggled into the Top 40 by British tourists.
Ever since, summer songs have fared better if they somehow feel "exotic", with the rhythms of Latin America and the Caribbean providing several seasonal smashes.
Notable examples include Los Del Rio's Macarena (1996); Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca (1999); Rihanna's Pon De Replay (2005); Shakira's Hips Don't Lie (2006); OMI's Cheerleader (2015) and, of course, Despacito.
3) Novelty is everything
Image copyright PA
The best pop music holds up a mirror up to society; and the best summer songs reflect a time of year when we collectively take leave of our senses.
How else do you explain Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini - an egregiously irritating song, both in its original 1960 guise and in Timmy Mallett's 1990 remix. Other offenders include Captain Sensible's Happy Talk (1982) and Whigfield's Saturday Night.
But novelty isn't always a dirty word. Songs with unique lyrics or arrangements often capture the carefree spirit of the summer.
Katy Perry scored her breakthrough hit with I Kissed A Girl in August 2008; while the whistled refrain of Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger resurrected their career in summer 2011.
4) Radio-friendly songs make bigger hits
Image copyright Getty Images
If a single is going to float across the country and pollinate the population, it needs serious radio support. That means two things: 1) A catchy hook and 2) No swearing.
The song should also appeal to the widest possible audience, which often tips the scales in favour of grand emotional posturing and overblown sentiment.
Hence Bryan Adams' Everything I Do (I Do It For You) and Wet Wet Wet's Love Is All Around, which hogged the number one spot in summer 1991 and 1994 respectively.
In the modern era, though, summer hits have tended to be euphoric pop - with the likes of Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe, The Black Eyed Peas' I Gotta Feeling and Sonique's Feels So Good all providing a soundtrack to the sunshine.
5) It should be released before the summer
Image copyright Universal Music
While it's possible for a late-breaking hit to elbow its way to the front of the pack, the song of the summer has usually been hanging around for a while before it takes over the world.
Drake's One Dance, which topped the charts for 15 weeks last year, was originally released in April.
More impressively, the reggae-tinged morality tale Rude, by Canadian band Magic!, had been hanging around for 11 months before it clawed its way to number one in August 2015.
6) But it should have the word "summer" in the title
Image copyright Getty Images
It's a cynical tactic, but it works.
From Mungo Jerry's lyrically-questionable In The Summertime in 1970 to Demi Lovato's Cool For The Summer in 2015, releasing a song about the summer in the summer guarantees you a hit almost as quickly as putting the words "featuring Justin Bieber" on the sleeve.
