Met Aradin on the road. He and Rakha mostly glared daggers at each other and Rakha almost punched him again just for fun; instead she took his contract to find the Nightsong, purely because she wants to find it when he couldn't. (She doesn't really care about it otherwise; say what you will about Rakha, but she doesn't seem to care much about gold one way or the other at least.)
On into the Blighted Village. Rakha, who has been champing at the bit to fight more of the goblins ever since she learned they needed clearing out, attacks instantly as soon as one of the ones on the village roofs tries to talk to her.
Very good fight. Rakha misty-stepped up onto the roof and fried everyone with Burning Hands. The cloak of invisibility-on-successful-kill is REALLY good. Gobbos never stood a chance.

"Is she going to do that on every battle, do you think?" Wyll says, peering up at the top of the nearby building where Rakha is finishing off the final goblin with manic eyes and a burst of lighting from her fingertips. "She doesn't even wear armor..."
Gale snorts. "She certainly doesn't seem to be much inclined to putting caution to the forefront, and I don't anticipate that changing any time soon. All I can say is, better her than me. A wizard at close range is a wizard soon for the cookpot, or at least so sayeth every guidebook of magical combat I ever encountered."
"She has madness in her. To hear her tell it, a beast that claws at her brain," Lae'zel says gruffly. "Like a steam pipe, I think - the pressure builds and must be vented. Better on these goblins than on us."
"Don't tell me you approve of her strategy," Wyll says, raising an eyebrow.
"It is no strategy. It is anarchy. But I see no way of stopping her, so I will adapt. Tak'san zer'a vlaak. 'One adapts or one perishes.'"(*)
Gale hunches his shoulders, rubbing at a sudden burst of pain in his chest. "In Waterdeep, we say, 'If you can't beat them, join them.' Similar concept, I should think.'"
(*) I've progressed to making up my own githyanki phrases now. It's all downhill from here. XD

Gale wants to talk when the fight is done; time to start dropping his Lore on Rakha:
"Spare me a moment, if you please. I've something important to discuss with you. We've been traveling together for a while now and it's just about time that I shared something with you. It's a rather personal matter that I'd have preferred to keep quiet, but needs must when the devil drives. I have no choice but to speak."
(A/N: LOL. With Hector and my other playthroughs so far, Gale always pops this a lot earlier because we've done enough nice things that he decides he trusts us. Clearly he does not feel this way about Rakha yet and I don't blame him. XD )
Rakha, coming down from the blood-fever of killing the goblins, just stares at him expectantly, wondering what the hells this could be about.
"You see," Gale says carefully, "I have this... condition. Very different from the parasite we share, but just as deadly."
Me too, thinks Rakha dryly.
(A/N: The fact that I gave Rakha her super short clipped speech pattern occasionally makes me a little sad because it means some of the Dark Urge lines don't sound like something she'd actually say. Like this one: "You also feel disgusted by how life, miserable as it is, insists on persisting in this wretched world?" She might think it but I don't think she'd say it that way. XD)
"What kind of condition?" she asks, narrowing her eyes at him.
"The specifics are rather personal," Gale says uneasily. "But suffice it to say that it is a malady I have learned to live with - though not without some effort. What it comes down to is this - every so often I need to get my hands on a powerful magical item and absorb the Weave inside."
Rakha blinks rapidly several times. Most of what she knows about magic is instinct, not knowledge, but she has heard Gale speak of the Weave, and knows that it corresponds on some level to that tapestry of prismatic color that she can see under the surface of the world. And Gale needs to consume bits of it, directly?
She doesn't know enough to even begin to guess at the implications.
"What happens if you don't consume these artifacts?" she asks cautiously.
"I'll spare you the finer details," Gale says, "but it begins with a simple biological deterioration. Muscle spasms, disorientation, a slight ringing in the ears. And if left for too long..." He trails off; his eyes narrow, as he considers the right words.
"Catastrophe," he finally says. "It's been days since I last consumed an artifact - since before we were abducted. It is time. And by that I mean it's imperative that I find and consume strands of Weave at the earliest possible juncture."
Rakha frowns thoughtfully. Gale, she suspects, does not like her much - especially in the wake of the business with Alfira. But she does not think he's lying to her at this moment.
He is clearly holding back details. But the word he chose - catastrophe. It is a word with significant weight given the magnitude of problems they are already facing. A catastrophe worth the term by comparison must be... significant.
"Where do you suggest we find the artifacts you need?" she asks crisply.
In the end, she gives him the amulet she pulled from the Selunite altar in the owlbear cave, and she watches with fascination as he "processes" it.
The Weave spasms around him. She can see the whole fabric twist and shiver as the power is swallowed into his chest at the point where the tattooed mark glows suddenly bright. He lets out a harsh noise of pain, staggers backwards a step, then stabilizes.
"Thank you..." he mutters unsteadily. "That hit the spot."
He straightens, rubbing absently at the mark where the magic was swallowed. "I can feel it work," he murmurs. "The magic is like a lullaby that sings to sleep the demon inside." A pause, and then he adds rapidly, "A metaphorical demon, I haste to point out. But no less dangerous - and no less bound to wake up again to continue its ravages."
A long pause. He looks at Rakha thoughtfully for a long moment. "Such is the nature of all monsters..."
Rakha is sure that the same thought is going through his head that is in hers - in this we are alike, after all. A beast sleeps in my head and in your chest, and we are neither of us certain to be able to hold them back. Perhaps now you understand the control I lost when Alfira died. Perhaps we are deeper allies after all.
Could there be any connection between his monstrous tenant and hers? Unlikely, perhaps... but the possibility feels oddly reassuring anyway.
"Perhaps now you'll tell me what this is all in aid of?" she asks, just the slightest bit dryly.
He shakes his head. "Grateful as I am, the course of our camaraderie is much better served by not taking that particular detour. Not just yet."
Rakha quirks an eyebrow. If its course was not already diverted by my blade in Alfira's chest, I doubt very much your secret could do it, she thinks, but doesn't press the issue - for now.

I felt so incredibly awful while trying to convince Astarion to use the tadpole to evolve so we both can use those powers. Like, I'm all in to try and fight the Absolute without evolving and keeping our original appearance (Astarion's, too), but I just don't think we can win?
Either way, the thing that I noticed from the very beginning is Astarion's, "DON'T touch me." Astarion's, "Careful, I bite." Astarion's, "Keep your distance, darling." It was a matter of time until he told us, "[The body] didn't belong to me for so long." Not sure that's the word for word quote, but the meaning is the same.
All I want to do is to help him find himself while still keeping the human part of himself. I want him to be safe and happy. And thinking about that dialogue where he shares his trauma, but I need him to use the tadpole. Like, yeah, he's a fictional character, but it still hurts & I feel so awful for making him going through that. When I think about it, I wonder if I should reload before evolving and try and finish without the powers even though I KNOW I'll suffer. My entire party was down and only Halsin had 4 hit points and that's what saved us. Without those powers it simply doesn't work for me.
"Damn it. Damn you." Oh Astarion, we're really in it now. :(( Tbh, I've no idea where I want it to end at this point. We started with "We need the parasite removed", but now I'm halfway through turning. I don't want to go further, those dark veins and dark face are bad enough, but I'm not sure where all of this is leading. And what's the good ending for Astarion at this point. (No spoilers please, I'll learn it by myself in my own playthrough.)
I'm sad.
UPD: Couldn't stop thinking about it. Reloaded 5 hours back (I already did some quests in the city), to when I and Astarion didn't evolve yet. I have to try to finish the game by myself. I can't handle seeing Astarion looking like that. He deserves better.

wait there are hidden bosses in persona 5
Yes! I won't spoil too much, because IDK if you've finished the game, anon. But there are three hidden bosses in P5 Royal, and each require specific circumstances to unlock. They're required for the Thieves Den achievement, and I'm mostly sure you have to be NG+ ("new game plus", a mode you unlock by loading a completed save file that carries over some of your data) to unlock two of them. To unlock two (but not the same two, I'll explain) you have to be in Royal's third semester (achieved by maxing out the Counselor confidant before November 17th).
Potential spoilers under the cut!
The Twins - As far as I know, there's no special condition for unlocking this fight, besides being in NG+. I'm pretty sure it has to be done in Mementos, but any time between 5/9 and 12/17 (though I could be wrong?). This is what I'd consider to be the second hardest of the bunch, but as long as you come prepared you should be fine. There is a turn limit on this, I believe 50 turns, before they auto-defeat you. My biggest tips are: 1. don't let either twin get a 1-more, as they are capable of Baton Passing. I waited until my third playthrough to give my party each the Ring of Vanity accessories, as it nulls weaknesses and otherwise you'd be relying on evasion. Make sure Joker's personas don't have weaknesses. 2. Down both twins at the same time, because they can heal/revive each other.
Lavenza - This is the hardest of the bunch. You must be in NG+ AND have defeated the twins. This is only available in Mementos in third semester. I cannot stress that this is the only boss fight in Royal that I've had to retry. Save before going in. I mean that. She consists of 4 unique phases with conditions that MUST be met. I have so much I can say in way of tips for this fight, but I'll keep it short: 1. same as before, do NOT let her exploit weaknesses. 2. Bring Yoshizawa and continually remember to use Brave Step, because you will need it come the crit phase. 3. My winning party was actually Haru, Ryuji, and Sumi. Haru is great for the technical round, Sumi for crits, and Ryuji is just... good to have. You will probably be using Joker mostly to buff and heal until the final phase. 4. Stock up on charge/concentrate items and make sure to get items that lower enemy defense. I'll make a comprehensive guide if anyone cares but I'll stop here.
Jose - Easy fight. As long as you have SP restoring items, this one is very easy. To unlock this, collect all the stamps and meet Jose in the bottom of third semester's new area in Mementos. He will only use magic attacks, and I think resists physical, so bring good magic users and just hit him a lot.
Again, I'll make a Lavenza guide if anyone wants, but yeah. These are the hidden bosses in P5R.

Not my brain making a comparison between Dawn and Buffy's conversation when Buffy catches Dawn trying to resurrect their mom Joyce and the brief conversation Atreus and Kratos have when Atreus accuses Kratos of not caring about Faye.

Buffy: Dawn, you know this is wrong. You know you can't let this happen. Not to Mom.
Dawn: (quietly) But I need her. I don't care if she... I'm not like you, Buffy. I don't have anybody.
Buffy: What?! Of course you do. You have me!
Dawn: No, I don't. You won't even look at me. It's so obvious you don't want me around.
Buffy: That's not true.
Dawn: (harshly) Yes it is. Mom ... died, and it's like you don't even care.
Buffy: (shocked, with tears in her eyes) Of course I care. How can you even think that?
Dawn: How can I not? You haven't even cried. You've just been running around like it's been some big chore or something. Cleaning up after Mom's mess.
[Buffy slaps Dawn across the face. Dawn yelps and puts her hand to her cheek. Buffy puts her hand over her mouth in horror.]
Buffy: (tearful) Dawn ... I've been ... working. I've been busy, because I have to-
Dawn: (tearful) No! You've been avoiding me.
Buffy: I'm not! ... I have to do these things, 'cause ... (crying) 'cause when I stop, then she's really gone.
[Dawn frowns in confusion.]
Buffy: And I'm trying. Dawn, I am, I am really trying to take care of things, but I don't even know what I'm doing. Mom always knew.
Dawn: Nobody's asking you to be Mom.
Buffy: Well, who's gonna be if I'm not? Huh, Dawn? Have you even thought about that? Who's gonna make things better? (crying harder) Who's gonna take care of us?
Dawn: Buffy...
Buffy: I didn't mean to push you away, I didn't. I just, I couldn't let you see me.
[Dawn begins to cry too.]
Buffy: Oh god, Dawnie...

A (how did you come up with the title to [insert fic]?): I guess I'll just pick one? For Mom of Four, I wanted something that could fit with the Mama Malon + Link pattern assuming I make it into a series. Think "Legendary Mom", "Best Mom in Hyrule", etc.
N (Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?): Hmm most of my ideas I kinda want to keep for myself lol... Legend reuniting with Marin! I'll probably do it one day but I could always use more fluff because I overuse this for angst (I mean. It's still good angst lol).
Y (A character you want to protect): Legend, Hyrule, and Four. Yes I know they're all far more capable, yes I know that I absolutely do not go easy on any of them, no I don't care. :) Oh and also Ravio because he actually does need it.

I love that i’ve just. Put finishing my ace attorney games on hold for the moment. It’s only because I REALLY want to beat at least one of the M&L games i started almost 2 years ago now (I can’t believe i’ve only beaten superstar saga) and those are my insurance to make sure i don’t start hyperfixating too hard

My Rean x Sara headcannons
I finished my 2nd playthroughs of the entire Trails of Cold Steel series recently and mannn do I just wish the romance endings had more meat on the bone.
Naturally, I read ALL the Rean x Sara fanfic on AO3 and realized how different others visualized their relationship. The main being the variations of possessiveness. So I wanted to share my HCs to the other like 10 RxS Tumblr blogs 😋
HC: They mutually respect each other as individuals first and foremost. They take on a more professional approach for all serious situations. Compared to the rest of their allies (minus Fie) they're consistently helping people. Most of class vii pretty much normal jobs but Rean is still out there taking care of people's safety non-stop. Rean is essentially a bracer as well in that sense.
How does Sara react to all the girls fawning over Rean? She finds it amusing. "Ha! All these girls don't stand a chance. Rean doesn't even notice their feelings or react to their flirting. But I can make that man blush and feel bashful whenever I want to. They don't even notice that he only has eyes for me. Such silly girls.." Sara and Rean are completely confident and secure about their relationship.
When I got confessions scenes during my playthroughs, most of them Rean was just like "??? Huh what do they mean? I'm lost. I need a dictionary to understand what they just said."
But both times when Sara confesses to him, he immediately reacts, almost like "woah! Holy shit, did she just kiss me on the cheek?! Am I dreaming?! uwu!!"
Sara's bonding events in CSIV really hit me too and how much she trusts Rean by letting him in and opening up about her dad. When they go to his grave and even make plans to visit North Amberia.. so he can tell him that he's taking care of Sara?! 😭 100% trust, respect and love for one another.
They do hide their relationship only because they don't want to distract others from the tasks at hand. They however do little things when shit is about to hit the fan, like reassuring hand squeezes when no one is looking or just little nods to each other as if to silently say "We're coming back alive and safe. We're not going to lose each other. I love you"
I also like to think that after his class vii graduates he joins the bracer guild and they kick ass together, happily ever after.
Oh yeah and they adopt Altina because not only is Altina fond of Rean but she was also in North Amberia with Rean and Sara. I'm sure Sara became fond of Altina as well for helping keep her home country safe.

hi! im thinking of getting the pathologic games, if you don't mind me asking, what are your favorite things about them (if you've played them already)?
Ohh boy okay so for ref I am only about to finish the first character’s route in the first game and have about 11 hours in the second but I think I can speak on it a bit. I’ll talk about it under the cut for the sake of people that don’t care lmao
Now I consider pathologic 1 and 2 as separate (but equally spectacular) entities even if they are imaginings of the same story but for the sake of brevity I’m lumping them together for this.
So for one, I think the main draw for me for sure is the atmosphere and story. The gameplay in itself involves a lot ( and I mean a lot) of walking to quests and trying to keep your stats maintained and men throwing knifes at you and tying to make sure the people you are meant to protect don’t get the plague which in hindsight can be boring but goddamn there’s something so haunting walking through a town that is slowly being consumed by a plague and having to run against the clock as you are desperately trying to stop it. I really recommend you use headphones when you play these games because the sound design is just peak and really gets you immersed right away. Additionally, the game tracks all time when you are not in dialogue and you will miss vital quests that are needed to finish the game if you don’t complete them in time and then your fucked. And when this happens, the game keeps going on and moving forward as if you are really someone who is trying to stop a mysterious plague in 12 days and not just playing a video game which is a great fuck you to anyone who has ever delayed main quests in a game to go do random side quests instead.
It’s also quite evident from the beginning that the town itself is deliberately set up to be strange not even with the impending doom of a plague, especially when you play as the bachelor. The people that speak to you talk in a very theatrical manner and have customs that seem odd but are written in a way that are so naturalistic to those npcs that eventually you as the player come to somewhat just accept what their customs are even if they are still odd to you. Even the bartering system is quite interesting in this way as you get to understand it and the needs of each specific type of character you come across. You realize it’s not as simple as I give you money and you give me things for charcters with the specific items you want, though there are stores for basic necessities like food.
Like I mentioned the gameplay itself isn’t anything to write home about but the writing makes you so curious on what started this mysterious plague and makes you keep playing despite how tedious it may get. There’s also the additional layer that you play as one of three characters (only for pathologic 1 right now though!) for each playthrough who are all trying to find an explanation and solution to the plague. However, it gets interesting when you realize that even when you don’t play those other characters, they still exist in the same universe that you are in and you interact with them as they try to follow their designated path whilst still being slightly worse than you as you aren’t controlling them. This means that the things that one character does during one playthrough that you may think are weird from an outsider’s perspective, creates an entirely different perspective when you play as them and understand their motivations.
I don’t think it’s a game for everyone and I myself didn’t even buy it for a while even after starting a lp of pathos 2 last year cause I thought it was a little weird for my tastes but it’s honestly been one of the most engaging games I’ve played in a while. I could even go on with how the implications of the very first scene in pathos 1, even before selecting a character, is watching them act out a conservation on a stage discussing the roles they will play as even before the same really begins but smarter people have me already have so i will not dfhgdfhjgdshf. Even if the resource management is hellish, I keep finding myself playing it for hours on end and that’s honestly saying something. Now this is the part where I realize I rambled for far too long and drop a bunch of video essays and dip, peace.

How Ni and Ne (don't) binge watch
Premise
MBTI is a serious topic for us mods and we always put our best effort writing articles for this blog. However, we also find entertaining to write in a more light way about how MBTI shows off in real life. This article is one of those: we won’t discuss deeply about theory, but we’ll rather talk about our experiences with binging works of various media, be them books, videogames or tv shows. We love typing fictional characters since we also love works of fiction. Listening to other high Ni and Ne users we found an interesting correlation between those two function and media consumption, especially regarding the topic of binging. So, this isn’t hard science, it's simply a light reflection that 200% comes from our experiences. That being said, we hope this article will be relatable and intriguing.
Ni dom and binge
INFJ mod here. This may sound counterintuitive, but even if Ni is known to be a function about searching for deeper meanings, discarding options and focusing on the few remaining, I approach works of fictions with a “multitasking” method. What do I mean? Well, I’m not the kind of person who will just sit down and watch an entire season of a tv show, even if it’s the best I ever seen (there are few exception to this rule, works like Persona 5 Royal which I heavily binged. With no regrets). I simply prefer to watch a little amount of episodes, or read few chapters of a book, for example, and then stop, thus having time to reflect on what I saw or read. I just need time to process all of the data and feelings, otherwise I’ll just hit the wall of information overload.
Even if they’re just my attempt to find a correlation between high Ni and all those aspects, I’d like to talk about what the causes of this behaviours may be, with a MBTi perspective.
Binging may be hard for Ni users since they need time to analyze things, putting them in their abstract subjective system. This means, in other words, that the higher the level of complexity is, the longer will be the time needed to absorb it. For example, I can read mindlessly a novel for a mere entertaining value, but if I really like it I’ll just take my time to enjoy the journey, reflecting and talking about my feelings and first impressions to my friends (this is my auxiliary Fe showing, I know).
Ni operates by discarding elements, thus Ni users may reach a point where they simply prefer to stop. This process allows them to elaborate those information, be them characters, facts or emotions (based on personal preferences, for example feelers may tend toward the emotional aspect and T users toward puzzles, mysteries, logical consistency). As I stated above, if I absorb too much data and feelings I’ll just freeze, submerged by the information overload. With works of fiction, I have an underlying fear of missing important aspects of it and the more I read, watch or play, the more I’ll need time to stop and see how all the new things make sense, be them theories, feelings, or simply understanding what’s going on. Even while I’m actively reading/watching/playing I process all the informations as a way to put them into perspective, constantly elaborating them in the back of my mind.
Another personal consideration is: high Ni implies low Se. Low Se may find binging as a form of overstimulation. Moreover Se, in lower positions, requires little stimuli, allowing Ni users to organize the environment (rationally or emotionally through Te or Fe), since high Ni users are J and need a certain amount of control over the environment (Te or Fe) and their feelings or internal logic (Fi or Ti) .
Finally, I think there’s a tendency in high Ni user to consume multiple media, but in small amounts. This isn’t supported by hard evidences, it’s just a trend I noticed talking to friends about the subject. Ni users may prefer to approach different media rather than a single one, splitting their attention and energies through them. So, this is the opposite of binging. Personally, except for few works of fiction which I blindly burned with my passion, I usually switch from a medium to another, a sort of “media multitasking” as a way to “cool down” from one by simultaneously approach another one and still being engaged.

I fear I’ll have to repeat the same premise as INFJ mod: This may sound counterintuitive, but even if Ne is known to be a function that works with multitasking and jumps from one topic to the other very quickly, I tend to approach works of fiction by shamelessly binging one and proceeding to be obsessed with it for months (or years.)
This happens especially for the works that end up being my favorites once I finish them - paired with the fact that I usually go through them again at least a second time after I’m finished. It almost feels like that if I’m not binging, I’m not interested/invested enough to care. I binge so much, in fact, that I’ve come to distinguish the ‘soft binge’ from the ‘hard binge’ - where ‘soft’ means a 12 episodes anime in 2-4 days and ‘hard’ means 145 hours of Persona 5 Royal in 3 weeks.
So, how might this work?
Firstly, Ne dom needs stimuli. Constantly. The more, the better. Because external stimuli means more prompts from something that isn’t one’s mind, which causes further reflection, connections and a ton of brainstorming. Ne can connect dots scaringly quickly, and even though proper reflection is appreciated to deepen the subject, connections are often made on the spot. I think it’s very difficult for me to reach a point of information overload - it usually happens with very complex topics and study subjects, for which I need to take a break and write things down into diagrams and lists in order to make proper sense of what I learned. But even in the case of works with heavy and intricate worldbuilding/plot (e.g. Stein’s;Gate, but I’m a sucker for time travel fiction so whichever is fine) I rarely stop watching if something doesn’t add up - I usually understand it later on, or wait for everything to end and search on the internet or talk about it with friends. My only time off is the one between OP/ED (which I NEVER skip and my friends hate me for that.) In that time, I disconnect my brain for 1 minute and 20-ish seconds to recharge.
Ne dom doesn’t have the patience to wait. If it wants answers, it wants them now. Binging is great because it offers both stimuli, questions and answers in a short amount of time. Also, (but maybe this is more of an F thing and for Ti aux might be different) I’m not one to make theories and speculations over fictional works - I might do that, but later, once I’m finished. While I’m enjoying a work, I’m usually so involved that all the theorising is limited to hunches and intuitions. Proper theorising needs time, needs one to stop and reflect on one’s knowledge in order to find hidden meanings and try to predict the outcome. I don’t have the patience to do that. I’m not interested in doing that - I want to know what’s going on, period. The few times I happened to reflect and speculate on a work of fiction were when I watched/read/played the thing simultaneously with some friends and talked to them about it constantly.
Which brings us to: discussing with people. Knowing a work means you’re able to discuss it with others, read reviews and watch video essays and analysis, of course Ne dom wants to devour it as quickly as possible. I literally watched the whole Evangelion (and I mean: the anime, EoE and the 3 rebuilds) in two weeks in order to finally enjoy those sweet, sweet video essays and parody and abridged YouTube wouldn’t stop to suggest me. This may sound silly, but searching discussion topics of the works I went through -even the ones I disliked- is very important to me, because listening to other people’s opinions and prompts is a way to further feed my Ne with different perspectives, viewpoints, things I might have missed while binging.
The problem: the quicker the binge, the more it’s difficult for me to remember details about plot, characters etc that, yet minor, can be important or interesting. Which is kind of the main struggle of having low Si: you know something, but you don’t remember everything you’d need precisely. You can’t pinpoint the scene where a thing happened, you feel you might have already seen a detail but you can’t recollect when and in what circumstances, and the list goes on. And this doesn’t stop once you’ve finished, obviously - it can only get worse. Typing the main Persona 5 cast was such a pain that, during my second playthrough of vanilla P5, I literally had to open a document and write down every single line or detail or plot point that could’ve helped me later. Otherwise, the situation would be: “damn, I know [character] said something alongside the line of [thing that could help me with typing] but I can’t remember what exactly! Let’s spend hours on YT watching walkthrough in order to find by chance the exact scene I’m thinking about.” This may also be why I periodically feel the need to go through my favourite works again: I may know them by heart, but there will always be things that I missed.

(1/2) Hey! I'm getting ready to do a new playthrough and have a question. When are the suggested times and/or best times to play through all the DLC from a story perspective? (DLC with set timing like Trespasser and the post-game Origins stuff excluded.) I don't care about optimal levels or best loot, I'm just trying to squeeze the most of them all story-wise.
(2/2) So far I’m thinking I’ll start Stone Prisoner when I’m doing my Redcliffe quests and finish it when I’m doing Orzammar. Return to Ostagar maybe after I finish my first main quest. Mark of the Assassin at the start of Act III. Exiled Prince as it becomes available. Do those sound like good plans so far? Not sure about Warden’s Keep, Legacy, and Last Descent. (I think that’s all of them.) Thanks for your time!

DAO
The Stone Prisoner
If Redcliffe is your first quest, doing The Stone Prisoner afterwards sounds great (I always do The Circle first myself). Since the first quest in The Stone Prisoner is Shale’s recruitment, you want her as soon as possible so you have the option of dragging her around to work on her approval. Plus get some of her dialogues and friendship cutscenes.
I would recommend just making sure to do Shale’s recruitment before doing A Paragon of Her Kind, since you can take her along during that quest and get some great insight into her story. Just be sure to be ready to make some Hard Choices™.
If you find your team unbalanced by taking Shale through the Deep Roads though how could you lol, you really only have to take her in the final area of the Deep Roads to unlock her extra dialogue.
The last quest should come after A Paragon of Her Kind, even if you didn’t take Shale with you. So just be ready to work that in later in the game.
Warden’s Keep
Warden’s Keep doesn’t really have a place it specifically fits, it is mostly just standalone Warden Lore. If your aren’t interested in Levelling and Equipment, it is pretty much just up to you when you play.
I’d probably say play it two allied factions into the game (Elves/Werewolves, Redcliffe, Dwarves/Golems, Mages/Templars) for pacing.
Return to Ostagar
Now Return to Ostagar is probably best played after The Landsmeet, seeing as the Warden is not longer considered an enemy of Ferelden. So it’d make more sense for them to return and collect the things of the Fallen, as well as clear the location since the Darkspawn have started to move out.
This is especially true if you plan on using the “Secret Companion” aka Loghain. He has some incredibly fascinating dialogue during the quest and of course can only be recruited after The Landsmeet.
However, if you plan on using Alistair then I’d say before or after the Landsmeet would work. Or if you want to suffer from feels then after you give Alistair Duncan’s shield, is an excellent time to punish yourself by returning to where his mentor sacrificed himself.
And I know you said Post-Game DLC not included, but just for anyone else or if I do link this again. Witch Hunt is considered the Final DLC for DAO/DA:A.
DA2
Mark of the Assassin
MotA is another DLC that doesn’t have a specific time that it needs to be played. Which the great thing about DA2 DLCs specifically is the content in them changes from Act to Act.
That said, the beginning of Act 3 is probably the best time to play it. Given it lines up better with All That Remains having happened and Hawke being named Champion. Since it makes more sense for them to receive the invitation while in a position of influence, Orlesians like that kind of thing. Plus having defeated the Arishok (and how you did it) also factors into an Act 3 play.
Isabela and Aveline have unique side quests during MotA unlike the other companions who only have Collection quests.
Legacy
Now canonically Legacy does take place in Act 3 of Dragon Age 2. I would recommend playing it close to the end of the main game, probably before The Last Straw. Partially because this sets up for Inquisition in the best way and in part because it lines up Cassandra and Varric’s scenes in it, with the timing of Varric’s tale (he goes to finish and she calls him out on omitting something).
Also during this quest Anders, Varric, and the Hawke sibling all have unique dialogues, important scenes, and banters that other companions do not receive.
DAI
Jaws of Hakkon
So this DLC really just adds a new region to the game, it can be done at any point. However, it is a high level area so you may want to do it later in the game. Of course it being a region, means you can always complete a few quests and come back to finish them later.
There are a few lines of dialogue that can change depending on if you finish the game or not before playing this game. But they are relatively small and shouldn’t affect when you play the Frostback Basin.
Fun Fact: In the Dragon Age Tabletop RPG there is a campaign called Where Eagles Lair. The Avvarian Hold you interact with in the story is the same one who can (and in Bioware canon do) become the Jaws of Hakkon. I say can, because in the tabletop, your actions can stop them from seeking out Hakkon later on.
The Descent
This DLC might actually be best finished at the end of the game? Since it is completely unrelated to the main story of Inquisition and actually sets up for Trespasser kind of.
Plus The Descent has all the enemies levelled to your current level, which makes it a bit hard to beat when you are the lower levels and easier at higher levels. Of course, it depends on if you mind the challenge or not.
You could, however, play it like JoH and finish parts of it bit by bit.
If you do decide to run this DLC at the end of Inquisition though, be warned some of the companions will be unavailable obviously. This goes for Jaws of Hakkon too, if you decide to not finish it before the end of the main game.
