I know Valentines day passed but I just thought about giving Homelander one of those cakes (baked, not bought) that says 'I love that dick' with hearts and sparkles surrounding the text

"What do you mean you made me a cake?" Homelander asks, following closely behind you as you carry the box in your hands into the kitchen. "I made you a cake," you say again, smiling. "Not sure what's confusing you." "I didn't make you anything. You didn't say we were making things," he replies, a petulant kind of irritated panic rising up in his tone. He gestures to the counter, where you see an extravagant vase absolutely bursting with roses, along with a little note tucked in at the top. "If I knew you were making-" Setting the cake down on the counter, you round on him. Placing your hands on his chest, you hush him soothingly. "Sweetheart, please. It's okay. I'm not trying to one-up you, I'm trying to delight you. Let me do that, okay?"

Like a popped balloon, he deflates. You can practically feel the hot air spilling out of him. "You're not mad?" "Mad you got me a literal gardens worth of flowers? No, they're beautiful. Thank you," you say, leaning in to kiss him. He sighs against you, settling his hands on your hips to hold you a moment longer, soothing himself with the press of your lips. He chases you when you pull back, earning a little laugh from you. "Okay, okay, c'mon, I want you to see the cake."

"Fine," he rumbles, lips curled into a fond little smile. Now that his ego has been appeased, you can see excitement in his eyes when he looks over to the box. Glancing back at you, he asks, "I can open it now?" "Yes," you encourage, slipping your hands off his chest. "Go for it," you say, crossing your arms, trying to keep your smile from being too devious.

Wiggling his fingers like some kind of cartoon villain, Homelander eagerly flips open the lid of the box. You immediately have to cover your mouth, stifling a laugh. You really did go all out.

" 'I love that dick,' " Homelander reads slowly, his tone difficult to discern. You snort into your palm. You don't think it's the glittery hearts, or even the message on the cake that has dumbstruck him so much as it's the fondant replica of his cock that you meticulously sculpted and stuck directly into the middle of the cake. He looks you dead in the eye, and it takes everything in you not to burst out laughing. "You like it?" "Wow," he breathes, and despite his even tone, you can see the corners of his mouth curling as he bites back a smile. He squints, licking his lips slowly. "I mean. Wow. The attention to detail. Look at that," he says, pointing to a carefully molded vein along the underside. "It's like looking in a mirror." This time, you can't hold it back. You start laughing, and as he looks back at you, Homelander is grinning wickedly. "I am really going to enjoy watching you eat that," he says, closing in on you, taking hold of your hips to pull you against him. "I was thinking the same about you," you say, beaming triumphantly at him. "It's cream filled."

"Oh, then you're really gonna love it," he purrs against your lips, shaking his head. You think he looks equal parts endeared and bewildered, though his smile is nothing but fond. "Just like the real thing."

"Just like the real thing," you echo in agreement, smiling into the kiss you press to his lips. "Happy Valentine's Day."

"Happy Valentine's Day," he returns, holding you like he'll never, ever let you go.

Seeing Homelander in Gen V feels like a wife waiting for her husband to come back from war

Very unsatisfying, not necessarily disappointed with the ending and plot, but there needed to be more, fill it out a little

Really disappointing final climax of Marie going full powers, like there could have been more, get creative, was nothing all that new

Should have had at least a little conclusion or work on Jorden always being a boy around Marie, we couldn’t have one wlw kiss???

i'm not a big fan of removing powers/attributes from canon to go with regular ol' humans, humans, and more humans au's. i'm just not. might be that i'm not a fan of humans as a species in general but the overhumanification of every damn character can tend to bug me

if we knew any aliens/alternate species/evolved homo races in real life? it'd be considered race/species swapping no question, which can also be done fine and i don't mind artists exploring, but still just not a big fan of it from a personal perspective

i can read them fine and even love an au when well done~<3! but if i'm writin' a humans au, you can bet your ass i'ma give them powers at some point (i probably won't do it for legit aliens like kal-el ever tho)<3<3<3

Hello! Your fic "good in red" where Bruce finds Clark drenched in blood at the batcave, did remind me of a particular train of thought I had a while ago. It was about how Clark or any kryptonian with hyper-efficient senses, would react to sensory deprivation. Especially how he'd react to sensory deprivation tanks? I thought during his initial years when his powers were developing and fluctuating, he would love the idea considering it was very overwhelming to him at the beginning.

However I thought hypothetically if he were to try one, he'd go through a real bad panic attack and dissociate. Considering he's used to feeling, hearing and seeing too much all at once, the complete absence of sensory input would push him into a bad headspace and put his mind on a overdrive. Coupled with his issues and guilt complex, the idea of missing any call for help while being in the tank would make him feel tense and paranoid the whole time, defeating the whole purpose of being in a sensory deprivation tank. Maybe for a Kryptonian under a yellow sun, a sensory deprivation tank would serve the exact opposite effect of what it would help a normal human achieve ( you know like peace of mind, tranquil? a break from overstimulation and anxiety)

But BUT what if, he uses it as unhealthy coping mechanism? For instance, what if Clark in your fic, instead of going to Bruce, goes to the Fortress and just enters the sensory deprivation tank he probably redesigned from one of those cryostasis chamber with the help of the kryptonian AI there? What if he does this at times when a mission goes downhill and he just doesn't want to feel anything at all after being overwhelmed by the agony and despair of the aftermath? I had this image of him entering a sensory deprivation tank all bloody, inspired by your fic? Bruce who comes to find Clark after receiving only radio silence from him even when he called for him, only to follow the trails of blood to find him floating in a tank also stained red with all the blood, jumping to the worst conclusion in the opposite end of the spectrum unlike your fic. How Bruce would help Clark come back then? After all, there's a reason they don't let humans in those tanks for too long. Can you imagine how bad of a headspace Clark would be in after locking himself in for hours? Would Clark even become catatonic for some time?

Seeing how much it affects Clark, would Bruce think about looking up sensory deprivation for kryptonians in more detail from the point of using it as a contingency? Would he be disgusted to think of it seeing how badly Clark was affected and yet he can't exactly dismiss the idea considering if any kryptonian went rogue, he'd need as many aces up his sleeve as possible to be able to find a way to defeat them. And the potential of a sensory deprivation tank utilized as a cage, eliminates the probability of him having to use lethal means. And even if Clark or any rogue kryptonian escapes, they'd be instantly overwhelmed and in extreme scenarios even become catatonic from the sudden influx of sensations. It gives him time to strike once again. All this information obviously needs to be saved for references and contingencies, even if it makes Bruce nauseous. He probably has nightmares of Clark begging him not to put into the tank, not again please and wakes up from drenched in sweat.

agh, this is an amazing take and I agree 100%. I almost -- really -- want to write a second chapter/remix of the fic now where this happens, because I agree -- it's absolutely in character for Clark and Bruce would have a trial on his hands, bringing him back from the edge.

Plus, the visual of Clark slowly lowering himself into the deprivation tank -- sobbing and covered in blood that slowly sloughs off him in the perfectly-neutral water -- compels me.

Don’t know if you’ve answered this or not and I’m very sorry if you have but I’m dying to know if you have a favorite scene between Homelander and Ryan?

i mean..... all of them??? 😭 okay typical answer maybe, but recognizing Ryan's panic attack and immediately getting him outta dodge will always be top tier for me. it displays a level of emotional awareness and care that we don't often get to see from Homelander, and it's VERY near and dear to my heart.

also also also!!! the overwhelming concern he had for his boy after getting knocked back by Soldier Boy, completely disregarding the fact he himself was in immense danger with SB, Butcher and Maeve right behind him.

one moment i really enjoy that's a little less healthy is when he's putting Ryan to bed, and he has the 'we're gods' talk with him. i like this moment because it's a great character insight moment for Homelander. we already know how lonely and desperate to connect he is, but i think it's interesting that the way he chose to try and connect with Ryan was by emphasizing just how special Ryan is, how alone and unique they BOTH are. it really feels like Homelander is speaking to his inner child here, and telling him 'everything is gonna be okay because you have someone who's like you, someone who will understand you.' it's a really unsettling scene contextually—uncomfortable for Ryan and a literal nightmare for Becca—but SO interesting as a character study on Homelander.

THE HUG. WHEN HOMELANDER FINDS RYAN AGAIN. "You know it wasn't your fault, right?" I could cry for days about this moment. i love it so much, it was such a gut punch, and something Ryan desperately needed to hear.
