grumbo's first collab

the first collab of grumbo in april of 2017 makes me emotional like- every time i watch it grian is desperately trying to be polite yet he cannot hold some edgy comments on the appearance of mumbo's house or 'uselessness' of his redstone, he does not sound genuine at all when he praises sonething. he is not rude, but he is not flattered in the slightest, and he is obviously just trying to get things done because the audience asked to do something with mumbo. AND THEN THERE'S M U M B O. he's so humorous, so gentle with his words and caring about every detail that grian put into his house. he blasts his humble build but he cannot stop laughing with pure joy when he joins grian's world for the first time. his video is almost the exact opposite in terms of emotions. i also love the fact that after this collab they haven't make anything together for MORE THAN HALF A YEAR (i mean, grian's first impression shows), and they've started to get along well after grian's cats documentary that he requested from mumbo via twitter in 2018 (i think it demonstrates that they didn't chat in person much then). so. grian was at first annoyed with mumbo, but one year later, when he joined hermitcraft, he was already connected to mumbo so much that he united with him at the very beginning and followed mumbo wherever he went.

not only did he befrend with mumbo, but also became - maybe just a little bit, but it matters - more gentle and soft in his nature, while mumbo didn't do... anything. mumbo only was himself. quite poetic if you ask me

i want more modern aus where ed's job is something normal but izzy is the same amount of intense about it. "edward you cant quit your job at the mcdonalds dont you understand this is what you were meant for"

One thing that I absolutely love is that Ed is not, for one single second, jealous of Stede's newfound fame. It would have been so easy for the writers to use that as the point of tension between them, to have Ed struggle with Stede suddenly being famous and people being more interested in him than Blackbeard, but there's not a single iota of it to be found. That sort of jealousy is just not a thing that exists in the equation of their relationship.

Look at him here. Although he initially assumes that the group of admirers is looking for him, when they say that they're actually interested in Stede, Ed isn't put out by it at all. His first reaction is to look on with interest, then to genuinely smile/laugh as he watches these people fawn over Stede, and then finally to sincerely congratulate him in this adoring proud voice. This is a man who is so fucking chuffed for his boyfriend.

Even in the bar later on, he's gleefully and enthusiastically giving Stede all these tips that he's learned over the years, helping and supporting him in ways that he no doubt wishes someone would have done for him when he was in the first throes of pirate infamy. He's not upset that Stede is over there with admirers rather than hanging out with him - he's giving his advice, essentially going 'HAVE AT 'EM TIGER', and then watching him go with big proud doe-eyes. If anything, he's thrilled that everyone else has joined him in seeing how spectacular his boyfriend is.

And when the conflict does come, it's not jealousy that fuels it. Instead, it's all about Ed panicking that they're at different places in life, with Stede succeeding at piracy just at the point where Ed himself is truly done with it. In fact, I think it's even arguable that a part of it is that Ed doesn't want to have to ask Stede to give all this up for him (even though we all know Stede happily would). There's not a single whisper of Ed actually begrudging Stede any of this.

It would have been such low-hanging narrative fruit to have jealousy play a part here, and I sort of expected it because so many shows would do it, just because it's easy drama. But not the OFMD writers. They took one look at it and went 'nope, not in this relationship', and I want to kiss them all lovingly on the forehead for it. Yes, in many ways they are both very immature, and they don't know how to be in an adult relationship, but in this? This is something mature and grown up that they just inherently do without thinking. This is a relationship where they love each other, and support each other, and genuinely delight in each other's achievements. They love each other completely and utterly, with no space for petty interpersonal jealousy in that love. And that's why, in spite of all the messiness and issues that they are going to have to overcome, they are strong enough to make it through.

ougghhh everyone’s talking so fondly about lionpaw and his new friendships made by the ripwater event but all i can think about is his mention of ashfur’s comment. and how lion probably thinks it’s just a little joke but ash might actually mean it :(

There's this little pearl of a theme hidden in the Ripwater Episode, if you look carefully; abuse acts on people in insidious but subtle ways.

It's Mistystar who's defensive of asking for help or admitting a problem, thinking of what she did to Leopardstar and also repeating cultural sentiment that once victimized her herself.

It's Squirrelflight shouting at her daughter for acting like she used to, because she's spent some years being yelled at in a similar way

It's Hollypaw who isn't allowed to enjoy her achievement of saving Otterpaw's life or lean into how much she has in common with Lakepaw, because she's ashamed of how she did something "wrong" by snooping

And lastly, it's Lionpaw, who's starting to believe the vicious comments that Ashfur says about him. I referenced Willowpelt partially for the sweet little irony of him teaching her recipe to her unknown grandson, Ripplepaw, but ALSO because Ashfur is starting to isolate him.

Willowpelt is the Head of Hunting, currently, a position that Lionblaze is going to succeed her in. I don't think Ashfur is playing 4D chess quite yet, but there's a couple of little motivations knocking around in Ashfur's heart for why he's nasty whenever Lionpaw interacts with her;

Ashfur hates Willowpelt, because of the events from Ferncloud's Parting. He isn't aggressive to her directly, but he does spread rumors and slander whenever possible, happy to remind others of her exile.

Lionpaw getting close to Willowpelt will annoy him. Ashfur both hates and resents his apprentice, but also feels POSSESSIVE of him. He feels like Willowpelt will "steal" what's his.

A simple but hard truth; Ashfur wants Lionpaw to hurt. Maybe Ashfur sees it in his head like "telling the hard truth" or "toughening his apprentice up," but when he makes those malicious little comments, makes him recoil with hurt, it feels righteous.

Maybe in the next draft, it should actually be Ashfur, not Blackclaw, who comes to growl at Lionpaw for bonding with Lakepaw over the spears. Maybe have Willowpelt come in to show them how to properly use one and that's actually what set Ash off. Like he just used xenophobia because it was convenient in that moment.

Lol no, Leo would not get jealous of Waffle.

I think they would get along pretty well! I imagine there would be an adjustment period where they kinda got used to the idea of having friends that aren't April, especially ones that are turtles like them, but then they would all be friends. None of them are trying to replace anyone as a brother, and I think at the end of the day Leo and the others would know that they matter to Donnie and Raph more than Waffle and Milkshake, so there wouldn't really be a problem.

I think Mikey and Milkshake would get along really well, and he would get along well with Waffle too. Leo would be more neutral towards them, but like them too. :)

@talisman975 It would have been SO COOL if they made a Belos (or Philip) inspired drink or dish or dessert for the cafe (I would have given them bonus points if it were slime based or horse based or based on his "round boy" lol).

i used to be a bit conscious about having so many girls/fem characters in my works (starsaints carnival is the only developed story right now that doesn't have a female protagonist, and most of the time i have to actively go out of my way to make male characters) but you know what fuck it i like girls so i'm gonna write girls goddammit!!!

I really don’t get into tumblr discourse or whatever and I intend to keep it that way but I’m sleep deprived and I’ve been seeing some shit so bear with me, but I think there’s a real… callous attitude with regards to how CERTAIN Scream fans will interact with Billy x Stu content bc they don’t like gay people getting in the way of their ‘favourable straight relationships’ and it really shows. you do not HAVE to like or interact w/ stuilly, and I think people have the right to produce any other ship media they want, but I’ve seen this weird trend with these certain people pushing their straight content into places where it really shouldn’t be - and where it’s honestly obnoxious for it to be, if that makes any sense.

I mean I had a whole endless draft abt this which I decided will never see the light of day because I can’t word my thoughts well enough right now but to try summarise it without going into as much detail:

a homosexual couple written by a gay screenwriter, inspired by real gay people, would be canon if it was straight, written in the era of “don’t ask, don’t tell”, supported by both actors and costars, and all I’m saying is these certain people wouldn’t act the way they’re acting if billy loomis was a woman or something.

but apparently gay portrayals in media are only real, and only deserve respect when they’re outright announced, and no amount of clear context behind it is enough to change someone’s mind unless they had actually made love on the big screen or some shit. but also remember that outright stating a relationship is gay is ‘shoving it in the face’ of those poor people who don’t want to see it! so I guess really this content just shouldn’t exist according to them.

and again this is a very specific subset of person that I’m getting at here. I don’t care if you make x reader content, don’t care if you do self inserts, this is aimed at a VERY particular type of person. I have a feeling maybe one or two of my followers will actually understand what I am blabbering about, bc if you know what I mean then you KNOW.
