I’ve read your Winter’s Night fanfic on AO3 before it became private for members only

(you you are literally the person that has made me but the effort to finally send my email for an invite just to continue your work)

Reading your work and my long experience as a reader of many fics I felt that my feral likings could match up yours some way.

Sadly due to issues I’m unable to fully write my own fics but as you can see I can lay some good ground works and idea paths. So I tend to, if I accidentally find a fav author on here, and they ask ideas slip a lil something and scuttle back into my corner.

Idk tarot cards but I think when it comes to how the show uses it OGMarcy and STAR!Marcy are perfect example of right side up and upside down. So if those cards are right then I agree.

And for some reason I just believe in my heart of heart, that Simon’s blood after the many many years of Ice King May have a special tasting blood, maybe a satisfying chill after feel with a sweet or minty kick to it. So when they do manage to run away and VK managed to survive (if they tried killing running away and he could still drain blood from Simon) he’d want the special blood back and his daughter but also the blood.

Cause Bonnie DID say the vampires have hunted their food to near extinction so changing Simon probably won’t be in his best interest if he thinks rationally. But judging by the situation it can be said VK seems to be ignorantly impulsive to literally have his peoples food source dwindle like that and it obviously rubbed off on Marcy based on how she described her killing of Martin.

lmao my fic was never supposed to be publicly accessible because (for weird and convoluted reasons) making it locked helps prevent AI scraping, but im glad u got an Ao3 account its actually so worth it

Marcy being the Star is interesting to me as someone who is kinda familiar with the tarot cards. Upright it (loosely) represents hope, healing, and purpose. Inverted it means (again, loosely-there's lots of different interpretations) loss and arrogance... which is pretty in line with Star!Marcy lmao

((Fun fact- I first wanted to name Vamp!Simon The Hanged Man bc it represents wisdom/sacrifice, but thought it was just a little too much of a mouthful and a little too on the nose. The Hermit is also a great fit for him thematically but it feels mean to call him that lol. So I think I'm going to stick with calling him Temperance bc it represents patience, but more importantly the inversion of it means conflicting interests. It's also a fun bonus for literally just me to have Simon be the only vamp named for a virtue and not a tarot figure, to imply he's different from the rest))

I don't actually want to say much about your ideas with the VK bc I feel like once i get started, I'lll just ramble and give away all my ideas about the fics I have planned 😭 but VK being cruel and possessive is good food

What fandoms do you write for? I have written for many different fandoms over the course of my time here on tumblr such as the Supernatural fandom (many still up on tumblr) but currently I write for Assassin's Creed Odyssey and the MJ fandom!

What are your top five fics by kudos? The Odyssey That Should Have Been: 71 The Way The Wind Blows: 7 (this one is newer lol)

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Absolutely!!! After the initial bit where I'm mushy and gushing over said comment, I try to be a bit more constructive in my response LOL

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? It's not finished yet (maybe never will be lmao) but 'The Odyssey That Should Have Been' is based off the First Blade DLC so it's got it's fair share of super angst but also humor and romance and joy!

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of my characters must get a happy ending, NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!!!!

Do you get hate on fics? I haven't yet and honestly, if you hate on someone's piece that they put a lot of work into - fuck you lol

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Indeed I do - it is pretty much always romantic smut between two lovers because I am a hopeless romantic at heart lol

What are your writing strengths? I'd like to think I'm pretty good at A) dialogues, I just feel like I'm really good at writing what my characters are saying and I find myself often being like "oh that was a good line" LOL and B) historical facts. I pride myself on being somewhat historically accurate and to the time I'm writing in.

What are your writing weaknesses? Probably descriptions of scenery though I do my best. I also overthink when I'm trying to write a very simple scene and people 'nod' or 'chuckle' and 'look' too much lol

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I already sort of have Greek and Persian words for certain things in 'The Odyssey That Should Have Been'!

First fandom you wrote for? I couldn't tell you but I believe it may have been an MJ story when I was like 12 or 13, maybe Big Time Rush? IDK LMAAAAO

✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)

definitely this kid levi fic examining levi's canon relationship with kenny and how his ackerman powers were awoken

based on what it's about alone, it makes sense to me why (idk how else to put it) it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people + it's pretty long for a oneshot and contains some dark content.

BUT i speed-wrote it in like 2 days based off this constant fascination i had about what levi's "training" w/ kenny was like and like?? what kind of part did kuchel posthumously play in their dynamic. and my experience growing up just personally. plus i feel like i did a good job on it which is a lil rare for me

so yeah i wish i heard more about it? but at the same time i remember with EXTREME vividness the feedback i DID get on it from 2 people that i still think about when i dont feel confident about my writing, completely unrelated to the fic specifically. im extremely thankful for those comments. so i guess it's a case of quality over quantity if that makes sense.

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

i’m going to answer this seriously but the first thing i thought of first is figuring out how scuba diving works from my old mer!levi longfic. i hardcore researched like?? oxygen poisoning? how long air tanks last and how to refuel them? the bends?? that was painful

but to be Serious™️ i started this kitty levi longfic in may 2022 that,,,,, i haven’t updated in about like,, forever (estimation). i think the reason i stopped working on it bc it turned into an INTENSE personal commentary on my own struggles and experiences - to process them i guess? but i kind of regret going that route bc it became mentally draining and just a lot.

i do plan to go back to it after my other longfic (danse macabre) is finished i think. maybe it’s rly weird bc it’s fanfic and narcissistic of me, but i ALSO place a lot of emotional Stuff into what that fic means to me, and i think once it’s done i’ll be in a better place to finish the kitty levi fic.

💋when you leave comments on a fic, do you want to hear back from the writer?

mmm it'd be nice if i did? normally my comments are keyboard smash so fjvrijori. ive heard controversy about it before tho, so the way i tend to think of it is, the writer didn't owe me the fic in the first place, it wasn't owed them for me to comment, so i don't feel one way or another about getting a reply if i leave a comment, but i’d be appreciative if i did. i just hope they read it and it made them happy lol

Do you have any fanfic recs?

Since I assume that you're asking for recommendations for Takaritsu fics that's what this list is going to consist of, hope that's what you meant lol. Odds are if you're asking you've already peeked around plenty of these fics and authors before because of the sheer word count they've put out for this pairing but I don't see the harm in getting out the word to more people LOL. Putting my rambling under the cut in case it gets long idk how much i’ll actually write yet.

My first inclination is to point you in the direction of @literally-ritsu and @misscorn's content, their content can be found on Ao3 and Fanfiction respectively at the hyperlinks above. That’s already 35 stories overall between the two of them, and they’re both still around adding more to their current stories and working on even more for future reading! I’ve always appreciated their characterization of the SiH cast bc for me at least that can be something that majorly turns me away from reading some fics. And if you read one story and like it, with them there’s plenty to go through!

This next one I may be a bit biased to since I run @takaritsuweek every year, but I go back to it a ton so I feel like I have to drop it here too! Cherishing You was a series of stories based off of prompts from 2020′s event. It’s by @saysaeri! She also has plenty of other Takaritsu fics to go through if you take a liking to her writing! Little Hearts is another one of her fics that I think about often.

All of the above were all fairly recent in the scheme of things when you consider how far back these fandoms go, but I’ll round out this list with something older! I remember reading through this series for the first time years ago, I stayed up way too late but didn’t regret it at all lol. The Silence is Thy Friend series is definitely an old favorite of mine. It has four separate one shots that total just about 50k words, so you can definitely take up an entire afternoon reading through all of them. I so badly wish there was a fifth entry to it, but considering how long it’s been I won’t hold my breath lol. ppl write fanfic for fun and for free after all, so we should be thanking ppl for letting us read their work 🥺

I feel like I’ve found my fellow comrade. With a few differences… I live in Southern California… I am a big advocate for mental health.

I am an elementary teacher… I currently teach 1st grade. My students are my inspiration for living life to the fullest.

I enjoy reading… and my favorite is reading FanFiction stories only “Anidala” stories. I’ve thought about writing a story.. but I’m not brave enough. Maybe someday. I enjoy reading all your stories. You’re an amazing writer. I truly appreciate all FanFic writers because I know how pushy and critical some people can be… and it’s all done for entertainment. The first story I read from your list is “Alternate Perspectives” and “The Skywalker Spirit”. I’ve read them more than once.

Wow, The Skywalker Spirit is an old one...lol. Altered Perceptions will be updated as soon as I get it’s next chapter finished, don’t know when that will be though. Anidala isn’t the only type of fics I enjoy, but Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is one of my favorite characters to write, he so fun to get into the head of.

Thank you for the compliment regarding my writing. I truly do enjoy writing and it is a wonderful outlet for so many things. I spent so many years self improving my writing and I’m not always convinced of my own skill, always feeling the need for improvement. I do appreciate the compliment.

I think, if you want to write a story, go ahead! You don’t have to publish anything unless you feel ready to. I only have a small fraction of my own writing published. I can offer some advice if you want, based on my own experience. I may write a post about that at some point, idk.

Yes! Some people can be picky and pushy, especially readers, lol. It’s all good though, even if a bit frustrating at times. I can understand both sides. As a reader, I feel anxious for the next update for a really good ongoing fic and yet as a writer, I understand just how long it can take to update. I used to be able to crank out update after update, fic after fic but I’m starting to suspect that it was the manic side of me that did that, lol. Now, it takes me a while to update a fic and I do feel the pressure to satisfy loyal readers.

Hey, that’s amazing that you’re a teacher and feel such passion for your job! Teachers don’t get enough credit or respect, and the really good ones can leave a life long impression. I can count only a few teachers who have left strong, positive impressions on me. The best teacher that I had was Mr. S. whom I had in fourth and fifth grade. He was strict(in a good way) but the things he taught are things that have stayed with me almost thirty years later. My older brother has worked for the school system since he graduated HS, working his way up through the system. During my HS years he worked as a teachers aid at one of the county’s ESE schools, also being given the position of union rep. The stories he has are insane! I think it is a disgrace the kind of shit teachers have to put up with these days and yet they still don’t paid enough nor compensated for the extra effort they put in for educating our kids. I have other relatives who work in the field too and I have mad respect for teachers.

Lmao idk if anyone else feels this but whenever I see gifs of Steve in endgame or like civil war…… it literally doesn’t look like Chris evans to me lmao. Idk like I see him now and I’m like yeah vague aspects of him are Steve, but it’s just not there lmao. Which is funny because obviously he played Steve, but it’s almost like the Ari thing where the characters are just their own entities, not guided by the actor that played them? The energy too, because of your fics I always think poyt Steve, dominating, a little cruel, edgy, softens a tad at his partner, or like antiquated Steve who’s dominant but in a soft 1940s way lol idek if I am making any sense, but when I see a gif of Chris in real life (like people magazine photoshoot), I automatically go “that is not the same person” it’s actually kind of fun to separate the characters out and make them their own people because they’re not encumbered or limited by how the actor looks or acts in real life; they’re just different. And I feel it also gives everyone freedom to really play with the characters, which is super fun from a creative standpoint. I guess what I’m saying is that I’ve been in fandoms where the actor is so completely and utterly intertwined with the character that they play that when you read the fic, it’s this combination of both. Or like the actor’s personality comes through strongly in the character, so it’s hard to separate them out. But I think he has a very separate personality and is able to construct an entirely different one for his characters (that he may not even identify with) which honestly (can’t believe I’m saying this) is the sign of a good actor? Lol I digress because I haven’t seen his indie stuff, but I’m not going to lie and say his performance as Steve Rogers was an Oscar winner (and it wasn’t meant to be). But I guess I admire how he acts in such a way that creates characters that take on a life of their own, which allows for a lot of spin, leeway, and expansion when people write fanfic (though tons of credit to the writers as well for how well they play with and mold the base material)

No I totally get what you mean! Steve seems like a completely different person from Chris! Like they have different auras! Steve gives off strict and disciplined yet gentle and sweet vibes and he also looks like he’s 6’5 and way bigger than Chris 😭😭 Same with Ari. Like that’s NOT Chris… Chris is like a different entity bahahaha.

Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

Longer stuff I outline. One-shots/shorter fics can go either way. Rarely do I just sit down and start typing with no clue where I'm headed but it has happened (and tbh I should do it more, one of my favorite things I've ever written came about with exactly no plan).

Do you have a favorite tag to use when posting your works?

I end up using variations of trauma tags entirely too much, idk. A fluff writer, I am not.

What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

This entire short fic from my Justified days lol.

Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

Don't we all? *tucks writing folder graveyard out of sight*

Few things get truly scrapped, I guess. I have started concepts, gotten 20k words into them, decided I was writing myself into a corner, gone back to the drawing board, and restarted the same basic idea from a slightly different angle. Current Hamilton WIP is a fabulous example of this.

Some things get started and then fizzle out (motivation lost for whatever reason) but I keep them in the hopes of future inspiration to revisit. And sometimes things just kind of exist for me to explore continuations of fics/setups/AUs with no real plan to be coherent and polished. Inspiration for a follow up story may or may not ensue.

Someone got me all in the angst feels today and I started working on a new Star Wars/Andor/Rogue One thing set at the end of A New Hope :

Excerpt:

He shakes the hands of the accidental heroes; his appreciation is sincere, however uncouth he finds the pomp and circumstance. He offers his condolences to the last princess of Alderaan, and spares a thought to wonder at the hero the senator’s been quietly raising and what she might become. And then he leaves to do the task he’s been putting aside, shuffling it beneath more pressing concerns and contemplations of their collective doom, until now –

Now, he ventures into the labyrinth of passages the residents of the Yavin IV base carved aside to forge something called home, and winds himself around to a doorstep he’s never before had reason to haunt. Its occupant only retreating to concede to the need for sleep at the utmost last moment; unwilling to rest idle, lest the ghosts of his past start to move in and make themselves comfortable.

Draven feels like the ghost now, his life a mockery in light of this one snuffed out too soon, too young, too stubborn.

He turns the corner, finds the door open already, and discovers he is not the only ghost haunting what little remains of Cassian Andor.

Hi! Uh... not sure you recognize me, but I basically wrote a fic inspired by your 'Harbor' (which was my first proper fic?)

The reason I'm sending this ask is cuz of... you're writing!

It's just- so brilliant! I mostly stick to fanfics in the batman fandom and I can't believe that in just a year you managed to write up all those fics! The dedication is 10/10.

But really, your ideas are what hooked me in. They're unique in ways and they're also so curiosity-building that I can't help but click onto ur fics on ao3. And then, your writing is what just keeps me going through word by word, chapter by chapter, fic by fic. I especially love your celebrity bat-waynes series. It's so fun and heart-anguishing at the same time! Seriously, my heart was twisting for Jason.

I love the batfam whumptober timeline. And ik I keep repeating this, but the flashbacks Jason had in the last chapter of one of the fics (Cant remember the title, but clearly remember the pain) including the "After a fall like that, I'm gonna have to call you Timber" still makes me squeal and cry at the same time. I also recently read zugzwang (is it called that?) and Ah~ the feels~. The way you wrote that - the writing - was so interesting and incredible that I still clutch my heart in my room and squeak because ohmyGod,poorDick,poorJason,poorTIM,thelittlebabies,noooooo,Dami'stooyoungforthis,IloveSteph,Bruceeeee,goBabs!Myheartttttttt. The brain factor? Incredible✨. Love it when there are fics with thinking involved. A+++

Your writing (is there a better synonym for that? Cuz I think the word's getting too repetitive) is just so amazing that, as a writer, I get so freaking inspired. So much that my second fic was inspired by yours cuz Ijustloveitsomuch! It still continues to inspire that even through my writer's block/burnout, after reading zugzwang, I am yet again inspired to create a work after that (I love thinking, there's going to be so much thinking, I love your character thinking, therefore your thinking too) and... uh, idk I just want u 2 know how inspiring you are.

I know I wrote paragraphs and paragraphs, but I still have sm to say! I could deep-analyze that stuff. Your fics make me so happy, so from one (hopeful and admiring) writer to another (inspiring and amazing) one, (if you are able to) keep it up and soak in the happiness brought from your stories whether it is as much as mine (the happiness) or even more. Because you deserve it, dear sprite. You deserve the happiness of writing and the good thoughts from readers.

(I hope I didn't make this self-centric, I just wanna tell you how good you are 😭)

And since this is an ask, may I ask exactly where the heck you get inspiration for such amazing ideas?

I can't lie I was tearing up a lil as I read your ask, being told that you're someone's inspiration is like the best feeling I as a writer could ever have! And I do remember that fic! ;)

Eeee *squeals, runs around, flaps hands, dives onto bed giggling* I'm so happy that you like the ideas that I base my fics on! Premise is so crucial as a writer to get right, and I'm glad that other people want to read the stories i want to write.

Ooooh, that fic was Throw Away My Faith ! I remember cackling and sobbing while writing those flashbacks, and DEFINITELY screaming too when I wrote every chapter of zugzwang. Balancing hurt and comfort (and crack! for celeb bats) is very fun and also very tricky. and i usually lean closer to angst lol. oops.

(don't worry, darlin' there is no crime to reusing the right word :) ) And I am SO GLAD that my writing helped you out of writer's block/slump! Like what!? That is so fantastic, bc believe me, i have been there too and it sucks, so it means so much to me to be able to help!

Thank you so much for your paragraphs! I love it, 100% To me rambles are like, the purest form of expression bc they're just so GENUINE and they make me grin so wide. I can assure you I get so much joy from writing, and that joy just increases whenever someone says my writing made them happy. (wasn't self-centric at all!)

Where do I get my inspiration? Lord. zugzwang (since you mentioned it earlier) came from a pinterest prompt about a generic hero and villain playing chess for the hero's loved ones. I'd say a lot of my inspiration does come from prompts, especially events and such. But usually its too broad, so I have to combine things and set limits on myself, kind of. Sometimes real life will inspire something, although I exaggerate the hell out of it bc fiction (adopt a rescue is the best example there). other times i'll be writing, then veer way left on a tangent and ultimately decide to make it two fics. other times i'll ponder canon and say "lets explore a what if here" and then, like ona post below, sometimes there's just a tiny moment or dialogue line that i want to write, and so i have to work a plot around it.

idk i rambled there quite a bit, but the honest answer is i can't pinpoint where my general inspiration came from. If you name a fic, i'd probably be able to say "oh, yeah, that was this prompt," or smt, but i get inspired in so many different ways. and inspiration has context for me. the prompt "tearful goodbye" for example or the concept "bats take buzzfeed quizzes" will give me wildly different ideas if you catch me at a different mood, day, or after/before some event.

last, i'd be remiss without mentioning the many prompts/requests readers have given me. i love doing those, bc they're usually things i'd never have come up with.

😅 what's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

the first thing that comes to mind would be "hot & bothered". the teasing scene at the table during the meeting is very bold. i can see teasing between nicky and mc but in front of others who don't know them all that well is questionable. close 2nd would prob be the find the cannoli scene in vendetta but i'm not even embarrassed. it just makes me laugh or smile every time.

🎢which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

it should be "vendetta" bc there's drama, violence, action, and romance but i automatically thought of "let's get out of here". i wrote that before "vendetta" and it was challenging bc i had to make sure the movements were described accurately since it was in a moving car.

⛔do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

yeahhhh ... so a few months ago i had an idea for a nanami story {lemme just say that i truly was done writing fanfiction except for "vendetta" which was, and is, still unfinished as a series. i wanted to focus on ocs and original plots but i got swept away by nanami kento and just had to write smthn about him. i had severe brain rot}

i was inspired by this post i saw of men on their knees in front of women/their lovers and thought of nanami on his knees for his s/o, wtv the reason may be. the premise was that he was late for a special dinner at a fancy restaurant that they made reservations for months ago. he got held up at work and was going to meet mc there, but then told them to go on without him anyway. so he ends up meeting mc at their shared home and they're livid, just ready to lay it on him. they don't get the chance to bc as soon as he sees them sitting in the loveseat in their living room he's apologizing like crazy. mc doesn't have the heart to go off so they just do some light teasing instead. i imagine it would've went smthn like

"i don't believe you."

"how can i prove it to you?"

"you can beg."

he took a deep breath and walked toward you. he placed his hands over yours which were on the armrest then sank down to his knees. then he rested his face in your lap and brought your hands to his cheeks, "is this better?"

oh i love it! i remember a couple people made something based off of vendetta and it really took me by surprise. i couldn't believe they were influenced to the point of creating smthn.

🤗 what advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

do it for yourself and not for others. don't worry about who will and won't see it. just write, don't think too much about how or when bc it'll come together in the end, and enjoy it.

💞 who's your comfort character?

i don't have one rn but since this is focused on fanfiction, i would say nicky and nanami. nicky just feels so familiar at this point and with nanami, he's so relatable. from my pov, he wants a simple life. he doesn't wanna work at an office and he doesn't really wanna work as a sorcerer. if anything, cooking at home and going to get bread from the bakery is all he wants to do most days {and travel from time to time} and that's very relatable.

🧠pick a character (howie) and i'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

my favorite hc about howie is prob the boyfriend hc bc it's so wholesome. he'd really be the sweet and thoughtful boyfriend. the thought of mc being swallowed whole by his shirts and him wearing their shirt which is a smidge too tight ��

🤩who is your favorite character to write?

nicky! his personality really allows for this nice mix of playfulness and seriousness/melancholy. i admire his charm and wit as well. i loved writing the more hidden sides of his character too, like in "midnight" or "what are you hiding?" overall, he has this nice balance that gives me a lot of room to play with as a writer.

😬which of your fics would you be most horrified for friends, family, or coworkers to stumble upon?

definitely any of my nsfw works bc i'm reserved for the most part at work. it takes a while for me to open up completely so i think ppl would be like 'idk she was into that' or the complete opposite 'it makes since bc she's so quiet'. my friends wouldn't really care tbh, they'd prob make jokes or gimme ideas. my family?! 💀 i'd prob be doused in holy oil.

📚would you ever want to turn writing into a career?

yes! when i was younger i often thought it was a bad idea to pursue your passion as a career or major in college bc then you'd have deadlines and guidelines; and i saw that as a sorta crutch on my creative freedom as an artist but now i believe the complete opposite.

🤯what's a genre you struggle with as a writer (ex. romance, action, etc.)?

i would say fantasy. in terms of fanfiction, i've mainly written romance with a bit of drama and some action. i've tried writing fantasy before and it requires a bit more artistry - there's world building, figuring out the land, if there are animals, what kinda powers characters have, how magic works, and sm more.

💔is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

if mc died before their wedding night. there's smthn about seeing a good-hearted person get what they deserve only to lose it in the end. i don't take joy in it, there's just some sort of unspeakable pain there where you can't look away.

10. At what point in the process do you come up with titles, and how easy or hard is that for you?

If it's a one-shot (that's mostly all I've written until recently) I name it after it's finished. It's quite easy to come up with something, if I don't mind it maybe being cheesy, but I also don't care that much as it's a silly one-shot.

Tbf I've only written one long fic. I used a place holder title that made me laugh... but it stuck. I tried a lot to work out something else but nothing felt right. I guess it's quite hard. I prefer titles that relate to a line/moment in the story, but I've only managed that once! I need to get more poetic and symbolic I guess.

24. On average, how much writing do you get done in a day?

On average.... approaching 0 words based on a medium timescale now lol. When I was in the swing of my long fic, maybe 1- 2k ? Idk that's a very rough guess. I'd be interested in these stats but I have no record of my productivity... unless I calculate an average from when I posted each chapter... is that necessary? Probably not... 🤔

31. tell us about one of your characters who is an absolute joy to write

She is my only 'proper' character IMO since others are not fleshed out enough to feel real, but Talia has been a joy to write. Very purposefully I made her bold, expressive and lively so I could write a fun story. She has her share of trauma and heartache of course, but she will not fade meekly into melancholy or self pity. She is the kind to go out kicking and screaming, or taking someone down with her. She is hot headed, defensive, tenacious, daring, funny. She's still very young (=more chaos😁) but as a teen she got on well with most other kids in the Vault, however she was always independent so never fully became part of any one clique. Nonetheless her willingness to make trouble did make her popular with Butch and Co, and continues to intrigue bad men.😬

52. How many unfinished stories/ ideas are you working on at the same time?

Two. But 'working on' is too much for what I'm doing. I'm just thinking about. Making notes i cant read. Writing scenes that may not even fit anywhere... but I write them when I feel them strongly, i find the mood comes across then.

Hmm… Chuck is learning Czech in secret, also as a surprise. Because the two of them do really love a good surprise. So Radek doesn’t know he can actually translate what has been engraved on it.

Chuck is blown away by the translation, he doesn’t tell Radek though. Instead, Chuck mulls it over and a plan starts forming. He has to secretly put said plan into motion.

Radek notices Chuck being off and slightly twitchy, (cliche - *cough* that I love *cough*) but he starts to get worried about their relationship. Chuck has a terrible poker face after all so he tries to avoid Radek when possible. Rodney starts to get twitchy too. Radek, consumed by negative feelings can only assume the worst considering that two of his closest people are acting strange around him.

So when Rodney, flushed and fidgety asks Radek to follow him he feels terror grip his heart. He follows, preparing to accept any outcome of this interaction with grace.

He’s so wrapped up in these thoughts that he doesn’t notice Rodney is dressed a little bit fancy (fancy for him,) nor does he notice they are alone in such a heavy traffic hallway. So when the transporter door opens to the gate room and Chuck is there on one knee holding out a ring he is completely floored.

Radek is obviously the kind to cry in this type of situation, and he does, crying and yelling “Ano! Ano!” before lifting Chuck up and kissing him so hard as the entirety of Atlantis claps and cheers behind them. 😭😭

Elizabeth, of course, set up a whole feast for the occasion.

I hope we convert others to this pairing. Come on people, Chuck/ Radek fanfic let’s go!

gee. do you have any tips for writing smut for a smut novice?

mm sure! im flattered u asked loll

idk if this is like a universal experience but when i started writing smut (even after like a couple years of Not Writing like i did) i was so embarrassed?? by the words i was putting down?

as a side effect of this sort of shameful feeling i think too many people make smut too 'fluffy' so to speak using vague and unsexy words like 'pearl' 'center' 'length' (to some extent) 'apex' 'release'- which imo.. is as i said is not sexy. like ur writing erotica, so be erotic!!! telling it like it is is better. but even more than that AVOID AT ALL COSTS using 'penis' 'scrotum' 'vagina' like those words belong in a textbook. theyre unsexy (and gross tbh) on PURPOSE and doesnt belong in any smut whatsoever.

but also... big/fancy words ≠ better writing. u end up sounding pretentious if this is done too much.

i feel like this is most important. u dont have to have sex to be good at writing smut (i am asexual LOL). sure it helps but u can look up videos/photos/read other fanfics that are good (that is to say arousing to u) and look closer. what words do they use and how do they describe? what sounds good? and for images, what did that noise sound like? breathy, bitten, sharp? look, and does this person have sweat on their skin? how hard are they blushing? it's the details, and with writing smut, try to imitate ur favorites' style of writing (but obviously never copy).

also reading other fics/consuming not sfw media will make your writing more accurate. sucking on someone's nipples for instance won't immediately make them soaking wet. he's not hard as a rock as soon as his partner gives him bedroom eyes. stuff like that. inaccuracies like those (for me) take me out of the smut the most.

however: the realities of sex are vastly different from fanfic. there are more embarrassing moments. you get a wedgie from lingerie. anal sex requires a ton of prep beforehand (as in. cleaning it out). fiction is fiction (and fanfic is an idealized fiction) so you can take liberties.

along these lines PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE as with all art i guess. that embarrassed feeling will go away i promise, and you will 'get good' at it if you make a consistent effort to make it good. an easier way to put it is u will look back at ur old smut (like i have done) and cringe bc you've gotten better without realizing. it always happens slowly.

there is no perfect way to go about writing smut tho. everyone has their own style. dont be like me and only read works by one specific author and base how u write smut on how they do (even if they're rly good). in general it's good to branch out so u arent limited to a narrow view/style of writing and what's good or not.

what's sexy about smut isn't the sex for the most part. yeah sex is . sexy, but the build up to it makes it so much more satisfying. include kinks u like from time to time. what are the emotions?? that's what makes it both satisfying to write and read imo.

and besides if u go on writing smut just for the literal sex, u get bored and blocked and jaded. (but this may apply more to me?)

don't be like I was and describe every single thing everyone is feeling and thinking and doing. ur doing too much work both for urself and it's unexciting to the reader if ur writing is doing all the work for them. like saying 'he put his hand here which made her blank because blank and so she blank, feeling blank and he blank... and so on'. it's better to write more REACTIONS to something a character does which makes it more vivid to imagine how it feels. like: 'her hand roamed down and pressed between his legs. a sharp gasp. his toes curl'. for example ?

don't use commonly used and 'cliche' i guess phrases. infamously, 'their tongues battled for dominance'. it's a weird image and kind of gross. it's lazy and doesn't make the reader feel as much as they could when phrased more creatively, like, 'she pushed her tongue past his lips, and buried inside. with a grunt, he swings his arm over her shoulders and yanks her closer' for example.

not to say metaphors or just rhetorical ways of phrasing don't belong (i am not the rule maker on smut either), but depending on whether it's quick and rough or passionate+slow+this is the result of build up after 18 chapters - ur smut should be written differently. the latter should have a large focus on how special it is, or how long overdue with lots of emotions. rough and fast has quick, sharp sentences and a fast pace. for example.

and remember... ur writing established characters having sex, so keep showing their personalities while it happens. a character like levi for example isnt automatically reduced to begging and pleading if that makes sense. depending on other details... like is this makeup sex after an argument? how comfortable are they together (which is especially important to take into consideration if it's levi.)? what are their boundaries? is this couple new to smth this risky?

mmm i can't think of anything else. others feel free to add on though. hope that helps / makes sense!

you know, as a creator, i actually don’t consider myself that “creative.” that’s not rly intended to be self-deprecating btw—what I mean is that i am better at repurposing or expanding on other people’s ideas rather than coming up with my own. i’m “creative” because i create, but i have a hard time creating ex nihilo. I have to have a starting point. i can think outside the box, but there has to be a box first. (this checks out because I work as an editor lol. the main focus of my job is to polish or build on something that’s already there.)

that’s one reason that fan creation appeals so much to me. I have a hard time coming up with my own stories, but I love writing fanfic because it’s like I have a sandbox to play in and there are lot of possibilities I can explore. and I’ve never made up an art OC, but I love drawing my favorite fictional characters to improve my skills and stretch my creative muscles. fandom creation is so valuable for creators like me and to a lot of other types of creative minds too. people sometimes ask me why I don’t do more original work and the answer is that I haven’t yet been able to create something on my own that inspires me to keep creating the way my favorite stories do. and I don’t think that’s really a bad thing? inspiration comes in many forms and I will create based on whatever inspiration I receive. And right now that inspiration happens to come from a kid’s cartoon, or a book series, or some other already-told story.

even within fandom i kind of see a division of creators. There are the ones who come up with cool AUs/headcanons or interpret the story and characters in a fresh, unique way, and then there are the ones like me who mostly stick to canon and create based off that. and both are good! I get involved in fandom because I genuinely really enjoy the source content, so I usually don’t feel the need to give it a makeover lol. because of that I tend to keep my work pretty canon compliant (altho not always/not entirely). but I often really admire the creativity of the fan creators who do push past the boundaries of canon to make room for their own ideas and reinterpretation. I think it’s cool to have a mix and representation of many different types of creators/creation.

maybe the kind of creativity I’m talking about is a skill you can develop—a muscle you can build—or maybe it just depends on how your brain is wired. either way, if you’re a “non-creative” creator like me and you feel like your work doesn’t means anything because it’s not unique enough, just know that creation is creation no matter what and that your creation is still unique and cool just because you made it, and no one creates exactly the way you do. you might feel like you aren’t offering much to the world but you don’t know how you might inspire someone else or just make them smile. and that is worth it all on its own, at least to me. idk about you but i can’t imagine myself ever saying, “oh man, another drawing of my absolute favorite character that sparks joy just to think about :/ boring” or “lame, I found yet another fic featuring my favorite ship and my favorite trope that always makes me go bonkers :/” haha. my stuff may not not always be super original but I know people still enjoy it and I enjoy creating so that’s what really matters tbh

I’m really grateful for the creators who inspire me to create—whether it’s a source creator or a fellow fan creator. I truly am extremely inspired by fan creators every day and I feel honored and thrilled to be able to share the same creative space with them! thank you for sharing your work, even if you feel a little insecure about it. life is a richer experience for you and others because of what you create.
