light novel reread, vol. 2 ch. 4: the ikebukuro calamity

i have a Lot to say. is it intillegent? will i say it coherently? remains to be seen.

i love the imagery in this passage. it sets the scene so well.

walker and erika are working hard to rebrand from their cringe phase. its not working.

this is worded so brutally, i couldnt stop laughing when i read it. this freeloading bitch is happy (?) with her little freak. good for her

this is the first instance of a character questioning mikado's sanity/state of mind (although its pretty clear izaya is aware of it already).

her moral compass is so funny to me. i love her so much.

they love each other so much im gonna jump in a well.

(standing on my shincelty soapbox) i LOVE them. theyve spent long enough with each other that they somehow manage to be like an old married couple and awkward kids at the same time. i feel like people forget shinra's more pg related thoughts (not that theres a lack of indecent ones). as frequently as he says something horny, he has a thought about how just plain cute she is. this scene in particular is paired with one of the cutest official illustrations ever to exist:

this is the first paragraph of the series thats centered on shizuo. i WILL start bawling if i think about it too much. i LOVE bad-ass dude but the novel just gives him so much more depth.

i did cry cropping the second one. werewolf shizuo tangent- he has massive overactive adrenal glands, putting him in a constant mode of fight or flight. (kasuka, on the other hand, has no adrenal glands whatsoever.

reminder that numbers and notes do not define your writing. i want you to stop limiting yourself. when you write freely, you don't care about how it will do on tumblr or how many notes it will get. you do it for yourself because you always wanted to write it. trust me on this because the best fic i've written is at 227 notes but a random headcanon got 13k. but you know what? in the end, i always find myself thinking about the reblogs and comments under the 227 one. so don't let the numbers get to your head. you are amazing.

#when i was younger on tumblr in 2020 i made a post and it got attention and i liked that feeling because it validated me #so i started overworking and getting frustrated thinking maybe i am not enough if smtg didn't get the numbers i wanted #but it's been 3 years and my perspective has changed. i read a stsg and csm fic that had like notes under 100 #but they were so beautiful and it made me sob it didn't have more notes because they were amazing. my moots wrote them #so i left all my love in the reblog and then they responded w so much luv and gratitude that i understood it is never about the numbers #pasi.txt

i need an iwtv piarles au so badly. i need it SO badly. pierre and charles as lestat and louis (respectively) - pierre who's been a vampire for hundreds of years, a solitary and hungry creature, and charles the human who falls for him and begs to be turned in his weakness. and pierre does it: he does it because he's lonely and he's hungry for charles in ways that he cannot be human for. and charles is delighted.....at least until he starts getting jealous of the way pierre feeds on his female victims.....because pierre is a fickle creature, bored easily, and charles knows that. he DOESN'T know how much he actually means to pierre, of course. which means he's sulky and terrible between feedings, and he clings to pierre during every feeding/hunt, and he is so desperate for pierre's attention that he starts thinking about doing crazy things.

like half-turning a child so that pierre will pay attention to him and him alone again.
