Do you have any thoughts on tunneling in WindClan?
it's an interesting concept with a really weak conflict!! which you know, could be said about the entirety of tallstar's revenge. There's no real rhyme or reason why some of the central conflicts happen. Why does Heatherstar wanna get rid of tunneling? Who knows! Why does ShadowClan keep randomly attacking?? Who knows! Why does Sandgorse retroactively get turned into a good guy at the end? Who k- no wait, it's because the writers suck.
I think the most fondness I have for the idea comes from, funnily enough, from the ideas that it's created from other people. I like the concept of tunneling as a representation of the cats overworking their environment, quite literally tearing it up from the inside for the sake of just having more. I also like it as its dissolution being something as a representation of how the Clans prioritize being battle ready over anything else. If it's not there to be an immediate boon during a battle, it's not worth it.
But in the text...there's not much to it? There's no real rhyme or reason. Heatherstar's reasoning is vague and unconvincing. I like the idea of a conflict in the Clan but it's done so poorly that you have to wonder why bother (which i could say about the entirety of tallstar's revenge but whatever).
anyways......very loose rewrite idea under the cut
Some loose ideas:
General notes: Sandgorse must be portrayed as bad in the end, why didn't this happen in the book. Why was he allowed to abuse his son for the entirety of a book then get retroactively treated like just a swell guy in the end. Palebird and Tallstar would have a goddamn conversation when he returns like holy fuck. Shrewclaw needs to apologize?? he straight up tells tallpaw to kill himself????? what is wrong with the books. Tallstar leaving Jake isn't treated as this sad but noble decision, it's a regret that stains Tallstar's mind for moons to come and impacts how he leads (he resents the Clan deep down even though it was his choice).
Move the issue away from it being tunneling and moreso the divide that it's causing. WindClan tunnelers have their own Medic who travels with them to give blessings and administer care, this Medic often comes into conflict with the Moor Runner's Medic and the two squabble on how to advise their leader.
At this time, Heatherstar is seeking to expand WindClan territory right to the strip by the mothermouth. This move makes her very unpopular with the other Clans, specifically ShadowClan. I think this conflict would strengthen WindClan's us vs. them ideals that Sandgorse tries to instill in Tallstar. Both Medics would see this as an opportunity to seize favor in the Clan by having their respect division help win the contested piece of land and (of course) this leads to more conflict.
The Moor Runners win of course and tunneling's very existence begins to come under question. Tallkit is a child during a very tense time with Sandgorse as such a vocal and aggressive supporter of tunneling resulting in him being isolated from his peers. The other queens try to help and support him with Palebird suffering from grief after losing Palebird.
The travellers aren't just a group of random cats who stay because the plot demands it. They should have some sort of attachment such as maybe having helped the Clan in the past or even being ex-WindClan cats who were sent out on some sort of pilgrimage. Either way, Sandgorse doesn't like them and Tallpaw takes after him in this regard.
Have Jake be part of the travellers or have him and Tallpaw meet earlier an establish a friendship. They travelled for like a week, they're barely friends.
Sandgorse and the Tunnellers Medic is killed in the crash resulting in a highly tense atmosphere where Tallpaw is pushed into taking on the role but decides to become a Moor Runner. The hostility from his former tunnellers and the lack of support from the moor runners is what also pushes him to leave (even though he tells himself he's going to get revenge for his father).

Idk if you'll have an answer for thus, but of the blogs i follow you're my best bet. It's always bothered me. Did ancient Greeks have an explanation for why Achilles had a weak spot? Like i know the reason is bc Thetis held him by the heel when she dipped him in the Styx, but is there a reason she couldn't've let go of him in the water and picked him up again? Like, was she unable to touch the water herself? Did she just not think about it? Was there like, a divine rule that he had to have a spot that wasn't dipped? I know that a "doylist" explanation is probably like, Greek heroes were expected to have a fatal weakness as part of the unspoken rules about what makes a "good" story, but is there a "watsonian" explanation?
so. tl/dr the ritual had to be done very precisely. (she may or may not have tried this with other babies who miiight have died in the process). if she’d let go he would’ve been consumed by the river (it’s not just like a Normal River).
alternately she was actually interrupted by her husband who didn’t understand what she was doing and just assumed she was murdering the baby. so she didn’t have the opportunity to do the final dip. (she did touch the water, she was a sea nymph, his father was human and so he was mortal, his mother was trying to make him immortal like her).
in another version she puts ambrosia on his head and sticks him in a fire, which is also interrupted by the father cause usually sticking babies in fire is Bad. but since he interrupted the ceremony, no immortal baby, weak point is the ankle, etc.
also alternatively: *rumple voice* all magic comes with a price! you can’t just make someone immortal and invulnerable! gotta have a weakspot! thems the rules of magic!
but actually the big twist is that early sources don’t even have the ankle as a thing. he was just a great hero destined to surpass his father (and die in battle). the arrow is depicted as hitting his torso in a lot of art. the whole ankle thing is just one version of his Powers.

I think I would just watch their relationship from the sidelines. I'd wanna see if my understanding of their relationship and characters had been in line with my interpretation. So in other words, I don't think anything would change at all because I don't want to change anything, the tragedy of their relationship is what draws me to the ship.

So, as of right now, I DO have seven WIPs where we've met Jake, however three of them are the same Jake! So, that leaves us with five total that we've met so far! I'm excited for this question though, so let's dive in, shall we?
1.) Which Jake has supersperm?
Probably TTSCA!Jake AKA Spring Spirit!Jake. It's spring, the season of fertility and new beginnings. SS!Jake is not only virile, but he's got the strongest little swimmers out of all these guys, and he's definitely getting you pregnant on the first try, there's just no ifs, ands, or buts about it!
2.) Which Jake has a wedding night baby?
I have said this from the beginning, but DHTN!JAKE AND SCOUT HAVE A WEDDING NIGHT BABY FOR SURE!!!! It's honestly kind of surprising that Scout doesn't get pregnant sooner though, but she gets knocked up that first night, and when they do the math later, they figure it out and she's so fucking annoyed while Jake just sits there all smug like "I always get the job done on the first try, honey girl."
3.) Which Jake has a honeymoon baby?
I'm going to go with FF!Jake for this one. We talked it over in the groupchat, and he seems to fit the best in this category, but let's be real. He's getting Guppy pregnant BEFORE the wedding lmaooooo
4.) Which Jake has the biggest breeding kink?
I think this one probably goes without saying, but MMATS!Jake, especially during his frenzy lol. He can't WAIT to get you pregnant, dude. And if he had his way, you'd STAY pregnant. DHTN!Jake is also of the same mind, but probaly slightly less so tbh

After discussing with @goldenseresinretriever, it was decided that this honor goes to SLM!Jake. As a botanist, he's all about plants and flowers. Imagine him out back in the garden with his little girls just planting and digging in the dirt, teaching them all about the different ways they grow. He'd be so gentle with them omggggg
7.) Which Jake is the most submissive in bed?
Surprisingly enough, I would say MMATS!Jake is the one that wins this category. I think he's more willing to lay back and let Skipper take charge and use him however she wants. Now, that's not to say that the others don't do this too, we've seen it with DHTN!Jake and FF!Jake in some drabbles and posts, but MMATS!Jake is the one that does it most often.

Huh, that's actually a good question. Kit isn't very verbal about her affections anyway, so it might not be too much of a difference whether they like her or not, BUT I think the situation that they meet in would be the most important, at least for a first impression.
Just bumping into her on the street? Kit would hate her. Okay, maybe not hate her, but generally dislike her, similarly to how B.A. dislikes things. Expect some insults. Not teasing, actual insults. They'd be pretty rude.
Meeting her and she tells them she's part of the A-Team? Suspicious. If she has proof for it, Kit would be very unhappy about their "replacement", but roll with it if necessary.
Meeting her during a battle? Kit would immediately be a supportive bestie. Any woman with a gun not pointed at the A-Team is their bestie. Kit supports violence. Also, they have a thing for snipers.
If they meet the whole alternate A-Team... Oh boy. Kit would be confused by 2010!B.A. and upset at 2010!Face. Like, that's your Faceman? You couldn't do better? Out of the whole bunch, I think they'd end up liking Murdock and Dot the most. Chances are they adopt Dot as their little sister (even thought Kit might just be younger than Dot? Once again, I don't know the movie canon enough to know how old Dot would be) and be very supportive of her and Murdock's relationship.

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.
you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.

Mikey - 4. Protective but pretty chill.
Raph - 6. Looks out for Casey, but basically believes that overcoming adversity is a necessary part of growing up.
Leo - 10. The dad. Very protective but also very tactful and unobtrusive.
