ik its not a big deal its just a pole that i wasnt even following, but something that annoyed me specifically with the one poll was when jessie was against lillie and everyone was like "OMG VOTE JESSIE BC ITS PRIDE MONTH SO YOU HAVE TO OR YOU HATE THE GAYS!!!!!" when like... im sorry lillie has more genuine lgbt hinting than jessie does sldjfslkdfjslkd.

like sure its not the biggest thing ever but one of these characters was pouring their heart out to a girl in the rain about how important she is to her and how much she depends on her while a rainbow comes out, has an arc about breaking out of the strict roles her mother forced her into, and literally gets an RGU reference in the anime and a deeply devoted "best friend", and its not jessie. sure none of that is exactly explicit groundbreaking stuff and i personally wouldnt say youre meant to see lillie as bi, but its more than what jessie's got

#tbh tho ive been watching the earlier pokemon movies in my server and while their role is minimal obviously #i do think i havent been giving enough credit to gens 1-3 TR and kinda gen 4 TR #bc they are genuinely really funny in those first few seasons #i think im just lost in bw/xy/jn hell where they were just EXTREMELY tedious and unfunny #i think part of it is that they stop caring about their little quirks and backstories come gen 5 #and never remembered it again outside of sm #(and even then james's backstory ik is sorta played for laughs? halfway? kinda?#like his abuse is sorta framed as ''HA HA hes getting beaten up by a WOMAN'')#but like james's collection is barely brought up during that era #i also have some issues with how they are in dp bc theyve got both good and bad episodes there. leaning towards bad #and im reeeeally not a fan of how they characterize jessie in comparison to the guys #but idk. genuine thing does anything actually really post abt post dp TR #besides obviously the super dedicated fans and SM (which they are good in ill completely admit to that)#theres like.... two scenes of JN going around and one of them is a bit thats unrelated to them and couldve gone to someone else #mail #d0vegum #btw LOVE the yellowfang setup. lesbian yellowfang real

The sun’s going down, the last dregs of its light spilling brilliant and golden over the book in your lap, and you can feel your boyfriends starting to get restless. Well, two of them.

“If we’re missing half the ingredients,” Sirius says, trailing James into the kitchen, “it’s not going to be any good.”

James only tsks. “Ye of little faith. That’s what improvisation is for.” He starts pulling things down from the cabinet.

“You’re not even going to glance at the recipe?”

“I don’t need to. I know the general vibe.”

“Help!” Sirius calls towards the living room. “He’s gone off the rails. Remus, come fix it.”

Remus turns around to look over the back of the sofa, his shoulder brushing yours as he does. He’s sitting right up against you despite the couch being empty, not that you mind. Remus is sort of like a cat that wants to be near you but not always to be pet. His touches are often like this, passive gestures like a hand on your head or his thigh pressed against yours. It works for you just fine; you can feel the affection bleeding into you from any point of contact.

“Don’t you think we should just eat out?” Sirius asks, tilting his head and doing that thing with his eyes that you all pretend doesn’t work on you.

Impressively, Remus keeps his face impassive. “I’m having leftover brussels sprouts,” he replies, “so it’s not really my concern. Anyway, James has a good history with not following recipes.”

“Exactly,” James says, grinning at Sirius, who scowls. But then he fixes his gaze on Remus. “So why are you having that, Rem? Have what I’m making.”

“Because they’re going to go bad, and I’m not hungry enough for a big meal.” The last part is said somewhat quieter, directed towards the living room as he turns back around and picks up his own book.

Out of the corner of your eye, you can see James frown, but he glances at Sirius and they seem to collectively decide not to push it. Remus’ appetite isn’t much better than yours. He has his better days, but it’s not uncommon for him not to feel up to what your other boyfriends would consider a whole meal or to eat only chocolate until Sirius hounds him into something more substantial.

James looks to you hopefully. “You’ll have some, won’t you sweetheart?”

You wince, hating to let him down, and from the look on James’ face he clocks the guilt in your expression before even you get a chance to say, “I don’t think I’m really up to it tonight, either.”

James deflates, but he’s clearly trying to put on a brave face. “That’s alright. I think I’ll just save it for another night, then.”

“I’m sorry,” you say, setting your book facedown on the armrest and turning around to face him more fully. “You could still make it and just put leftovers in the freezer. Maybe I’ll have some tomorrow.” You wince again as soon as you say it. No promises, though.

The smile James gives you is comforting if not totally satisfied. “It’s okay. I’ll just make it another time, it’s not a problem.”

You return his smile, close-lipped. Sirius is looking at you with narrowed eyes, arms crossed like he’s sizing you up.

“What are you going to eat?” he asks.

“Hm?”

“What are you going to have instead?” You hesitate, and he tilts his head knowingly, a piece of hair slipping from behind his ear to drape over his shoulder. “You need to have something, especially since you didn’t have lunch.”

From the kitchen, James looks at you. “You didn’t?”

“I just…don’t feel like it.” It’s a feeble argument even to your own ears, and the look Sirius gives you says that he thinks so, too.

“You can’t miss two meals,” he says obstinately. “Even Remus is having some brussels sprouts.”

You look to Remus to be offended at the even Remus comment, but he only shrugs. You’re on your own.

“What sounds good?” he asks you.

You try not to pout. “Nothing. Everything sounds gross.”

“C’mon, baby.” Sirius leans against the countertop. “It doesn’t have to be strictly dinner food, yeah? Just anything that sounds like you’d be willing to eat it.”

You think for a minute. Remus touches the back of his hand to your leg, knuckles soothing over the skin beside your knee.

“I guess…ice cream sounds okay,” you say hesitantly. “But I know that’s not exactly nutritious…”

“Would a milkshake be close enough?” James pipes up.

You shrug. “I guess.”

He grins. “I can do that for you, love. Just gimme a sec.”

James is a loud cook. You go back to your book while cabinet doors slam and the blender whirs and you hear a muffled “oh, shit” as something is undoubtedly dropped on the floor, but a minute later he’s bringing you a glass of something thick and chocolate-y looking. You smile at the added garnish of mint and a straw, reaching for it.

“Thanks, Jamie.”

He winks. “Anytime.”

Remus is the only one courteous enough not to obviously watch while you take a sip, and you feel your eyebrows raise as you look up at James.

“This is really good,” you say. He practically glows at the praise. “I didn’t even know we had chocolate ice cream.”

Sirius barks a laugh, and James’ smile widens.

“What?” you ask.

“We don’t,” he admits. “Will it ruin your appetite if I tell you it’s not actually ice cream?”

You shake your head, sucking at the straw. “I’m already drinking it, so.”

James beams. He really is looking very proud of himself. “It’s a protein shake. A pretty balanced meal, actually.”

“Nice!” You grin at him, taking another hearty slurp mostly because you know it’ll please him. “It’s perfect, thank you.”

“Gotta keep our sweetheart fed,” he says, bending down for a kiss. Sirius and Remus’ hums of approval nearly harmonize, and you and James share an elated look while they both do their best to pretend like it didn’t happen.

“Can I try?” Remus asks, and you tilt the cup towards him in invitation.

He wraps his lips around your straw, sipping hesitantly. He looks mildly impressed.

“Could you make me one of those too?”

From the look on James’ face, he’d be delighted to. “Course, love.” He plants a smacker on Remus’ cheek and nearly knocks Sirius over as he beelines for the kitchen.

“This is just excellent,” Sirius gripes, but you see the satisfaction in his expression. “Now that you two have blown up his ego, I’ll have to eat something he makes too.”

“Correct,” James says brightly. “And you should be so lucky.”

“Angel!”

You know it’s Sirius before he even steps into your line of vision. He’s got a voice that’s recognisable anywhere. Silky, rough around the edges, so undeniably attractive that you melt just hearing it.

You look up from your drink to find your boyfriend swaggering over to you, looking pretty as ever in his silk black button up and ripped jeans that make him look like a rockstar. He’s been gone for all but ten minutes and you almost die at the sight of him.

“Hi,” you say quietly. Your lips mindlessly pull up at the sight of him, a sweet smile reserved only for him.

“Hi, darling.” Sirius throws his arm over your shoulder, smelling of all things him. Expensive cologne, cigarettes and ash, fruity shampoo. His jewellery jingles and sways as his side presses into yours, his hip pushing into the dip of your waist. “How’re you doing?”

Upon his arrival, you’re doing terribly. Hot in the face, tingly skin, a heat in your chest that only ever goes away when Sirius does. Which is almost never.

“I’m okay,” you lie quietly, knowing full well he’ll call your bluff.

Sirius turns his head to look at you and his face is so close to the side of yours that he’s almost kissing you. He seems to notice this, too. He ducks his head to press his mouth to your skin, right in the juncture between your neck and shoulder. His lips are warm and soft as melted butter.

“Yeah?” He asks, a murmured sound pressed into your skin. Goosebumps erupt and spread and suddenly you’re ten times hotter. Sirius tends to have that effect on you.

“Y-yeah,” you breathe, barely remembering what you were talking about in the first place.

Sirius laughs but it’s far from condescending. It’s boyish, nearing on shy, but shy and Sirius never go together in the same sentence.

“You’re burning up, my love,” he says, almost pitying. You want to hit him for it but he’s too pretty and too lovely. He straightens up and shifts so he’s facing you, his arm dropping to your waist.

You grow impossibly shyer. He’s too close. You’re face to face with his chest, and of course the top two buttons of his shirt are undone, exposing silver chains sitting atop his toned chest. You stare and stare and pretend it’s because you’re avoiding his eyes.

“It’s your fault,” you say, trying for irritated but it’s hard when you can barely get your tongue around the words.

Sirius really laughs at that, loud and startled as he throws his head back, curls bouncing and tumbling, his Adam’s apple bared to you. Suddenly you’re extremely dizzy. You grab Sirius’s bicep for support.

When he’s finished laughing he drops his head to meet your eyes, his free hand moving to cup your cheek. With his other arm still curled around your waist, he pulls you closer, chest to chest. Your drink gets crushed between your bodies but you hardly care.

“I’m sorry, darling,” he says, and he actually sounds sincere. Well, more sincere than usual. His eyes bore into yours unabashedly. “Really, I am.”

You find yourself shrugging, brushing off his apology because really, you don’t care all that much. Actually, you kind of love being teased by him. Not that you’d ever admit it.

“It’s okay,” you say, and you meant it. You slide your hand down his bicep and to his forearm. You give him a squeeze there for good measure.

Sirius grins lopsidedly, looking at you like you’re made of gold. “You’re cute,” he says, all smiles as he pats your cheek twice. “Do you want to—?”

“Oi! Sirius!”

Somebody, James you suspect, is yelling at Sirius from the table, where he’d been playing cards up until now. Sirius groans, long-suffering, and twists in your hold. You peek around his shoulder to see what the problem is.

“What?” Sirius yells back, though yelling is totally unnecessary when the table is only just across the room.

“Stop feeling up your girlfriend and get back over here,” James says with a smug grin. “You’re turning her into a human furnace.”

You know he means it jokingly but it still makes you want to curl in on yourself. You love James, you do, but you’re yet to get used to his teasing.

“Fuck off, Prongs,” Sirius says, sounding awfully bored. But when he turns back to you he’s got this look in his eyes, kind and sweet, and his mouth is turned down in what you think is a frown.

“Sorry,” he says quietly, kindly, a stark contrast to how he spoke to his best friend two seconds ago. “He’s …” Sirius sighs. “Well, he’s drunk. I think.”

You know what he means. James is so perky and boisterous you wouldn’t be surprised if he was completely sober right now, despite his obnoxious comments and his roaring laugh from behind Sirius.

“It’s fine,” you say, because it is, and Sirius shouldn’t have to apologise for his friend not understanding you like he does. “It’s James.”

Sirius looks relieved at your lack of upset. “I know,” he moans, throwing his head back yet again. “I hate him so much.”

You giggle and try not to stare too hard at his pretty neck. You think he catches you staring but thankfully doesn’t comment on it. Instead he releases his arm from around your waist, hand moving to push a lock of hair from your face. His fingers curl around the back of your neck and stay there.

“Do you want to get outta here?” He asks. “Get some food or something?”

“Sirius,” you chide, though you find yourself hopeful at his offer. “We can’t just leave. Aren’t you having fun?”

Sirius pulls a face. “No.” No sooner has he finished speaking do his lips curl into a sly smirk, and you just know he’s about to make some suggestive comment that’ll have you weak in the knees. “Besides, I can think of other ways we can have fun at home. Just us two.”

You flush something awful. Hot cheeks, goosebumps all over, the whole package. It gets worse when he dips his head so his mouth is a hair’s width from your ear, his hand gripping your shoulder. His scent is intoxicating.

“It doesn’t involve clothes,” he whispers.

You just about pass out.

omg hii!! yeah hehehe just like,,, idk why i just want art history and marauders 5ever and ever and ever,,, like tbh im thinking after i write the dinner fic,, i'll just abandon every other wip idea and go full in and be an art history marauders writer for the rest of my fandom life literally it's just so preliminary rn (tsah the secret art history <3) it would be jegulus bc i love them sm and james would be the richard papen of it all i guess,,, like he would be the transfer kid into the elite club of art history students and the outsider,,,, and it would be pandalily as well but lily would be the one playing the judey poovey roll-ish,, she's the one who's like "these ppl are crazy maybe u should do coke in a burger king parking lot abt it" but she's not vapid or anything she's dating pandora who is very much in the secret art history cult so she knows how insidious it all is they're all very competitive and secretive and there's this huge print project that they're all working on for the first semester (they're in teams but they're all working against one another and the winner gets to curate the university's next art show) and barty is the nepotism baby "my father is a descendant of knoedler come 2 my house in the countryside and drink whiskey out of dainty teacups",, they do crazy things to prove how INTO art they all are,,, (steal ruins from archeological sites they're working on,,sneaking their own works into prestigious art exhibitions,,, creating a little shop of forgeries "just in case",,, trying to break in museums and slash paintings w meat cleavers a la mary richardson) i want something BIG something BACCHANAL-ESQUE but i haven't gotten that far ,,,, but i also want to write a re-telling of van gogh and gauguin and the yellow house months one day but wolfstar style and regulus would be theo and would send his brother money and fund his painter lifestyle and be his art dealer as best he knew how AND THEN JAMES WOULD BE JOHANNA FOR SIRIUS IYKYK also just really obsessed with art restorationist lily evans and her conservation studio taking on a protégé (mary) and them falling in love over restoring art works but idk that's just a wisp of an idea

sorry, i need to talk abt the scene of ren just going off in the garage,,,to quote my mother who walked in during it, "who would even do this?" all i can imagine is james busting a move n it makes me giggle. that scene will always give me secondhand embarrassment i actually cannot. although, the gymnastic moves really got me cause those were really good

overall the movie was MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the remake n kevin bacon was soo fine in it n i will die on that hill. a 10/10 watch for sure

i'm so glad u enjoyed it <3 like, don't get me wrong, i always have so much fun watching the remake too, but u simply can't compare!! the original is the original for a reason yk?? i think the remake does a decent job of adapting the dance scenes to . more modern dance styles etc etc but that's about it. the only things i like better in the remake are . miles teller (especially him learning how to dance) and the line dance scene!! bc it's iconic!! and that one moment between ren and ariel (u know which one) is so fucking HOT the chemistry is insane and i've seen sex scenes look less like sex than that one sequence of them dancing

THE DO YOU WANNA KISS ME SOMEDAY SCENE MAKES ME SCREAM EVERY SINGLE TIMEEEEE GOD THEY'RE EVERYTHING and yesss you get, it just fits jegulus so well.. reg as the reverend's son + him leading a double life is Perfect.................. AND JAMES BEING A CITY BOY NEW IN TOWN AND TURNING EVERYTHING UPSIDE DOWN HELL YESSSS also ren has THE cocky vibes + some underlaying anger issues !! sooooo james coded imo

LISTEN THATS SCENE IS SO FUCKING ICONIC AND THE DANCE GOES HARD but yeah the secondhand embarrassment is also there and very much real.. i'll always love it tho!! i watched it when i was younger and still a dancer and it had me in awe so it's . special to me <3

i have SO many thoughts about chain of thorns so if you haven’t read it yet SCROLL AGGRESSIVELY PAST THIS because i’m shamelessly using this post to collect my thoughts and not forget the book.

okay so the best things ever are as follows:

1. SHUT UP THOMAS! god i loved every single time that line came up. like yes you simp, it is embarrassing but also yes alastair is literal perfection and nobody blames you, baby.

2. okay this one is kinda niche-ish but i just loved every time jesse interacted w the merry thieves, like obviously he was always going to interact w them but just the visual of james, matthew and jesse training together gave me sm fckin serotonin.

3. james and matthew. okay i REALLY wish we got to see more of them repairing their friendship and talking and shit but whatever we DID get made me cry every single time. like every time matthew smiled at him or wtv i was just crying, i swear im not even that emotional.

4. actually the amount of merry thieves content, just every scene where thomas and christopher are trying to mend matthew and james, i was a MESS by the time i reached the sleeping in front of the fire scene fr

5. jordelia smut. lol.

6. lucie and jesse’s dynamic, like everyone expected jesse to be kinda silent and reserved but 3 seconds w lucie and he’s as witty as matthew.

7. the watchers plotline, i literally thought that was so clever tbh

8. JAMES SHOWING UP IN PARIS! LMAO THIS MADE ME REACT SO EXPRESSIVELY, no i literally almost passed out. it was fucking AWESOME, i will definitely reread that scene every time i feel like i need an adrenaline rush.

9. lucie admiring cordelia’s boobs <3

10. THE FIRE MESSAGES!! i was j really happy to see kit, grace and jesse be helpful because they were all constantly treated as useless throughout the book/series.

11. EUGENIA! she was just a delight, i really thought there was some matthew/eugenia setting up going on but alas. i j loveed her vibe throughout the book

12. esme hardcastle, scholars and historians HATE her! not me tho, she’s so real for forever messing up the perception of the shadowhunter families for generations to come

NOW FOR THE BAD THINGS (there are a lot, i have issues w this book)

1. NOTHING TERRIBLE HAPPENS TO MATTHEW. i LOVE matthew okay, he’s my fav in tlh but ALL THAT BUILDUP FOR NOTHING??? i was waiting and waiting so patiently. when belial took him to edom i was like ‘this is it, he’ll torture matthew to get to james, and some irreparable shit happens to him’ but NOTHING?? i was like actually pissed off, i really wanted something to happen lol. and idk if cassie’s going to write a spinoff on matthew but thats the only way she can explain the fact that tessa has reminisced sadly about matthew MULTPILE TIMES!

2. the fckin love triangle. it annoyed me and always has. i feel like christopher and thomas were right and that matthew saw cordelia as some sort of salvation for him, that made complete sense. BUT THEY NEVER BRING IT UP AGAIN! during the epilogue when matthew and cordelia talk i was SURE he’d tell her he didn’t think he atually loved her but he. did. not. i was immensely disappointed. i think i was j overall disappointed w matthew’s plotline the whole time tbh </3

3. intermission grief. okay cassandra clare is really fckin good at writing character deaths and how other character’s react to it so i was so so excited to see how people were going to react. i was prepared to absolutely sob my guts off. but i did not shed a single tear. this might j be a me thing tbh but still. i feel like there was wayyy too much going on and it didn’t feel like an ‘intermission’. i get that the plot was firing up and many things were meant to happen and that it was a critical time, but i wish there was more sadness to it.

4. okay look. im gay, i’m very gay and i wish awesome things for all gay people. but this WAS the edwardian era, i think it was wayy too idealistic for cassie to make all the parents totally fine w their kids being gay. like ari was the only one who faced any repercussions but even alec 100 years later faced more than her yk? that plotline just did not make sense to me

5. i know this book is about the next generation but i feel like chog and choi had a healthy amount of tid characters, but they were barely there in this one and i miss them.

6. cordelia and lucie becoming parabatai. this one was so stupid to me, like they spent almost 60% of the book fighting. and maybe if the parabatai age was like 20 or sumthn it would’ve made sense but the book was literally several reasons for them not to be parabatai but doing it anyway.

7. the plotholes? idk if they’ll be resolved in later books but i really wanted to know some stuff yk. how is rupert still stuck? when does lucie throw away the beautiful cordelia and let it be stashed in the devil tavern? how does matthew’s flask show up at the tavern?

8. this is not a bad thing but im kinda confused, so like since the family tree is all messed up are the current blackthorns related to lucie and jesse? or are they related to the american blackthorn branch? I NEED TO KNOW

aand thats it. i also wanted to note that he phrase ‘cordelia ran’ was used approximately 4847904 times. happy chot week everyone!!

Do you think there a limit to the number of times firefighter James will let Reg play “is it a fire hazard?” and if so what is it?

Considerations:

Does James have unlimited patience (does he secretly like playing??) or does he have a go-to distraction/redirection method (kisses?) and what would be the tipping point to get him there? (I’m thinking there might be some sort of intersection between the annoyance and horniness spectrums)

Does Reg eventually get bored with his own game (see intersecting spectrums as outlined above) or does his desire to have the upper hand and make James break first win out?

a much longer answer than you probably ever wanted below. sorry in advance 😂

james actually thinks the little game of it all is funny most of the time, especially bc he loooves when regulus matches his energy that little bit and is playful about things lol, and he’s a sucker for all things that make regulus smile. plus, he’s like actually deeply proud of his job, mister hero complex himself. generally speaking he likes being able to be like “yeah this is my job and i LOVE it actually” he just gets real geeky about it sometimes in a way that’s easy to tease, he’s an excitable dude lmao. he’s absolutely out here distracting by kissing regulus and poking at the spots he knows are ticklish and giving little tugs at his hair to rile him up differently in return though (these fools are adults god help them lmao) there are days where he gets a little Over It, just because he’s overtired or because, no matter how much he does love his job, he still does want like a Full Stop break from thinking about it sometimes because it can be A Lot for him.

but when it comes to regulus, he’s veryyyy, very good at paying attention to body language and tone, then acting/responding accordingly based on those tells (comes from living with the sort of parents that he had and his relationship with them). so that said, he can often guess well enough WHEN it’s okay for him to be playing that game and have it not be an issue, or when he’s genuinely starting to push james’ buttons, etc. at the end of the day, it’s just for fun, like regulus is kind of doing it specifically because he’s never dated a firefighter before so like why not, yknow? lmao. he loves teasing james bc james either teases him right back in however way he sees fit or he literally proves him right and rattles off on a dorky little work tangent (which regulus finds deeply entertaining that this hot as hell, rizzed up man can still sometimes be such a nerd about specific things lmao). so it’s a win-win for regulus tbh bc either way he’s got james’ attention and maybe he’s making james laugh a little too which is something he knows he’s not always as good at as james is.

it’s not an all the time thing, either, which makes a difference. at a certain point, it’s more repetitive than either of them actually need and it just kind of fades into obscurity as a fond little memory of their early dating days that maybe comes up super randomly one day when one of them are abruptly like oh my god remember when? hahaha
