still thinking about objectively ridiculous vincenzo au's so here's one:
Mr Hong, Cha-young, and the Jang Brothers are vampires, and their followers (the plaza and the lawyers) know this, and when Vincenzo appears everyone just immediately assumes he is also a vampire. They don't say anything outright but there's a lot of winking and mentions of weird habits.
Vincenzo is not a vampire. He does not know vampires exist. He's Italian and very, very confused.

I really don't think Youngwoo's words to her mom was supposed to be just an inspiring speech saying her life is worth living, I saw it more as her standing up to her birth giver that suddenly wanted to intervene in her life for her own benefit.
She even tells her dad, I lived all these years without having anything to do with her, so why should I have to go hide?
To me it was her saying it's okay if you didn't raise me but my life is not any of your business to intervene in nor will I allow you to condescendingly treat it as some sort of lonely tragedy you're saving me from.
Taesumi tells her through that PR guy that she can move abroad so she "won't be lonely". So Youngwoo uses the beluga and narwhal analogy to tell her she isn't lonely at all.
I think Taesumi spent her life closing herself off from everything and chasing after power as a means to break free from control until she lost herself, so she can't understand living a warm fulfilling life you choose for yourself rather than just bending to the will of powerful people, she almost laughs at Minwoo for saying he wouldn't live like that anymore.
Everything in her life, from her job to her husband, was all chosen for her, she had no say in the matter. Her only rebellion in her whole life was giving birth to Youngwoo, her only mistake. And when that mistake threatens her ultimate grab for power and freedom, she tries to get rid of her.
Basically it felt like Youngwoo not allowing herself to be condescended to by someone who is basically a stranger, who actually knows very little about her life.
And I think in Youngwoo confronting her, Tae Sumi realizes that she has become exactly like the people who controlled and orchestrated every important facet of her life.

brb, i have to go and. make strangled noises at nothing real quick; it just hit me over the head how Wyll's use of the metaphor of dancing as a stand-in for romance and intimacy really just. accompanies him all throughout his story, and how perfect it is
I guess I should have expected a character like him, that's both deeply poetic in his speech and courtly in his upbringing, would come to idealize a chivalric romance a bit, and translate his feelings on/of love to an element of courting that's as ritualistic and processional as ballroom dancing, but sometimes just realizing the obvious can really knock you off your feet for a second
like. just like how there is almost a blueprint to a perfect storybook romance in both stories and -consequently- in his head (I think romance might even be one of the literary genres with the highest number of unwritten rules that need to be fulfilled for a work to count as a romance), there is also a fairly strict method to a court dance. There is a series of well-known and practiced steps that was laid out in advance, and one is to perform them in succession, and in sync with one's partner. If one of the parties doesn't know or doesn't want to follow the rules/steps, it gets... tangled, messy, and you both stumble. The dance and the relationship both fall apart. The happy ending of a tale is not reached without all the steps in-between being followed, and he so dearly wants his fairytale ending, his happy, fulfilled love, I just---
it's such a perfect metaphor, and what makes it even more perfect is that Wyll is ostensibly aware of it, and he chose it, purposefully, and i don't want to watch the Act 3 commitment scene because I've not yet done it myself and don't want to spoil it, but I would be so surprised if he a.) made no mention of storybook romances, or b.) didn't just straight up propose y'know
i'm (metaphorically) crying, if it were possible to play this game on six different characters simultaneously without getting bored or confused I fucking would

✉ extraordinary attorney woo | ep 16 final thoughts feelings, friends, and fulfillment
proud of you, attorney woo!
Tumblr media
feelings
my heart is so full 😭🐳
Tumblr media
their breakup literally took a toll on me. i wasn't kidding when i said i get way too emotionally attached to kdramas, and i actually couldn't eat properly just thinking about them not being together. (this is also the same reason why i'm never watching 2521)
the reconciliation scene was so sweet and so full of sincerity and RAW HONESTY AND PATIENCE!
"an unrequited love for a cat"
this man can't express what he truly feels for the life of him. he's eloquent when it comes to other things, conversation just flows when you talk to him, and he's ready to jump and explain discussions to youngwoo. but when it comes to his feelings, he gets all jumbled up. thanks to everyone who pointed that out, i just fell in love with him more.
he's cheesy. he's a puppy who is very much in love. he practices what he wants to say so he it comes out right, even though all he can come up with is "i like you."
this confession shows us that.
there was communication on his part, keeping his honesty that although there will be times that he'll feel lonely, she makes him a million times happier just by being with her and caring for her. she's not a burden.
commitment was made obvious, the love subtle but very present. and that, to me, is more than enough of a promise.
and she loves him so very much. the look in her eyes as he says all that, the relief? (oh my god, park eunbin)
"cats love their owners/humans too"
I SCREAMED SO LOUD
cats make people lonely sometimes but they're loyal and cuddly and love their humans that care for them and love them, too.
she used that to correct him and also to confess to him, and it's perfect! she runs but looks back at him and smiles, and we all fell head over heels in love for her (AGAIN) 🥺
this finale proved to us even more that they work as a couple. they're right for each other and they both give each other strength. junho took inspiration from youngwoo to be brave and tell her how he feels. junho will step up to help her when needed (needed that energy in ep15 but i digress). youngwoo knows that junho is her partner, someone who she can ask to stay and listen in on whatever news this mysterious man wants to tell her. youngwoo is now reassured that junho is happy with her and wants to be with her no matter what, and youngwoo reassures him back that she is with him, too.
that she loves him!!!
ending it with the two of them by the revolving doors, although this time junho waits for her instead of the other way around, was an ending worth the pain they and we all endured in the past eps. 🥺 my beautiful parents are happy and that's more than enough!!
although i don't know if the writer wrote this series with a 2nd season in mind, there are still many things to explore in this relationship. like junho's life, meeting the parents (both of them), and a few more hiccups, maybe?
and marriage. moving in together?
an ocean-themed wedding.
marriage?
giv me it.
ps.
i'm glad he's back
Tumblr media
he never left?
they made him leave her to deal with the reporters in ep 15 for angst. i'm still mad. it makes me want to think lee junho in ep 15 is a figment of our nightmares. he does not exist in this canon, nope.
(there's a fix it fic on ao3 about it tho, so!! it's fine)
Tumblr media
and he made up for it anyway :D
in the end, he got the girl and he's happy. <3 he's living his best life right now, frankly.
friends
i miss you already, hanbadaz!!!
Tumblr media
they all had satisfying endings that, again, isn't fully complete so there's more room to further delve into them in a possible season 2, but they were all happy at the end and that's all i could ask for.
but i want to take this time to talk about minwoo for a sec.
he's... changed. sort of. and i want to say it's all for love because if it weren't for suyeon telling him to be a fool for his colleague, i fully believe he wouldn't have gone to tae sumi to tell her he's giving up on getting youngwoo fired.
he still helped and encouraged tae sumi to make it happen, given that he told tae sumi that youngwoo's vulnerable at the time and would willingly go if she told her to. (very VERY untrue) but i'm sort of glad he did that, looking at it in a character standpoint. it makes sense for him, tactician kwon minwoo, to do that.
it also makes sense that he tries to befriend youngwoo after, in that scene where he tried to cheer her on.
no. nice try, tho.
when he told tae sumi that youngwoo broke up with someone, and when tae sumi looked taken aback that she was in a relationship (your daughter's an attractive woman, maam), minwoo was like yes? and? i was shocked??? idk i read it as him getting confused why she wouldn't think that was possible, and that earned him points. then again, her reaction was exactly like his upon finding out about junwoo the first time...
*sighs*
but, again, it makes sense.
that's his redemption arc in a nutshell - barely there but it makes absolute sense for his character not to completely change his ways. should it have been made a wee bit earlier? yeah. pushing him into the "good guy for love" agenda in the last 5 eps is meh.
suyeon's arc was completed when she finally fell for a guy that wouldn't hurt her (assuming) and would change for her (he's trying) and one that actually likes her back. i'm glad they left it open-ended between them. kissing scenes are reserved for junwoo only!
geurami is and will be forever by youngwoo's side, and the look of pride on her face in her last scene made me cry. she's always been happy and carefree and youngwoo's #1 fan (maybe #2 because junho) and she will remain the same always.
and minsik. he finally has a few new regulars in his pub!! THAT'S MORE THAN WHAT HE NEEDS! i'm glad they didn't make minsik and geurami a couple, because it was never implied. they have a funny platonic boss/employee relationship from the beginning and it stayed that way. (but if they open up season 2 with yearning between them, i'm on board!!)
and atty jung, who is recovering and got his wife back! will he stay in hanbada? i honestly didn't catch it 😭 he winked but?? youngwoo's reaction was how i felt like sir?? wdym??? as long as he's happy and taken care of, and that he keeps his promise to his wife that he'll go easier this time around for his health, then i'm glad.
*sobs*
i'm going to miss them very much. 😔
fulfillment
i had to pause for a sec, like junho pacing in front of youngwoo's house, to try and find the right words to express how i feel and how much i love woo young woo.
Tumblr media
if i had to find one word to describe how i feel about her, it will also be a sense of fulfillment.
(am i crying? you'll never know, won't you?)
youngwoo just makes you love her without any real effort coming from her. she's beautiful, kind, hardworking, playful, adorable, and thoughtful.
she compared herself to a narwhal lost in the midst of beluga whales that hinder her from being who she is, but she believes her life is still valuable and beautiful - because it is! it's so fulfilling (!!!) to hear her say that after everything that we saw her go through.
going from the shy rookie attorney who had first day jitters and hesitated giving her opening statement on her first real trial to becoming more and more confident, in her zone, and ultimately renewing her contract at hanbada as a full-time attorney is an amazing arc. she's living her best life! she works at a job she loves in a line of work that she's passionate about, she has an amazing support system, and she has a boyfriend who loves her.
hearing her say that she loves working at hanbada made me feel warm inside. she didn't quit and found some place else where she could defend the good like atty ryu jaesook, and that's alright. that reassurance that she wants to stay put and is enjoying her work is more than enough.
i'd say her journey from ep 1 to ep 16 isn't smooth sailing, but then we got an ending that eases all our worries and reassures us that from then on, youngwoo will be more than okay. 💙
the line that really sent me a breath of fresh air was, non-verbatim, "my mom wasn't around growing up, so why should i go to the states for her?"
and that was that, the boston plot done in a single sentence. the mother plot extended to the brother plot, and i would watch 10 hours of sangyeon and youngwoo interacting tbh.
it's fine that nobody else found out about her mom, because like she said, it doesn't matter. she wasn't around when she grew up, so why bring that up now?
i can't fault tae sumi too much, given that she was forced to have the baby. but then she had to be selfish and treat both her daughter and son the same way (as in, putting herself and her position first before her child's needs and wants). so. i'm conflicted. but it's fine. she got what she deserved in the end.
youngwoo has grown so much over the course of this series, and i'm so glad to have met her and spend this time with her as i watched the show. (i'll be rewatching over and over again)
this post isn't about what i learned as a neurotypical, but i'm glad that this show exists and that i delved into the fandom and read through a lot of takes, thoughts, translations, and things in general about autism spectrum disorder. i'll strive to be a junho, geurami, and atty jung in a world full of minwoos and atty jangs.
whale hug!!!
attorney woo youngwoo, i whale love you always <3
Tumblr media
ps. season 2 is possible, but not set in stone. i read some news that no official offers have been made to eunbin about it and her management only found out that a season 2 might be happening is through the news as well, so. let's all wait for now <3

'Mom' to his 'Dad'
Tumblr media
synopsis: just a collective bulleted drabble of all the thoughts I had about raising Yanqing together with Jing Yuan (yet somehow not being married (yet))
pairing: Jing Yuan x fem!reader
tw: fluff, domestic fluff, modern AU, CEO!Jing Yuan (because why not), dad!Jing Yuan, adopted son!Yanqing, from co-parenting to dating, from friends to lovers
word count: 1.8k+ words
Tumblr media
CEO!Jing Yuan who looks hella fine in any clothes, but especially good in gray and carmine red suits. Who absolutely hates wearing ties, but has zero complaint when you, after staying the night before, wrap one around his neck. He feels soft when you lecture him, but in the end say he looks good, smoothing the lapels of his jacket, making sure his appearance is intact before turning around and hurrying to check on Yanqing’s preparations for school.
CEO!Jing Yuan who is a great leader, a nice boss and obviously a great catch, but who also hasn’t shown any interest in any suitor who’s attempted to woo him in the last decade. And he is 33 already. There have been many gossips swirling in the company, most potent about you and him, rumored to be in a secret relationship and raising a kid together. Well… they are not wrong on the second part.
CEO!Jing Yuan who after the passing of his two friends took their eight-year old son under his wing. Who had never dealt with children, especially this young, but who was lucky enough to have you - a dear friend since university, now a coworker, understanding and compassionate enough to leave your house at 3am to drive all the way to his residence after just one frantic call.
CEO!Jing Yuan who will never forget that night - you, running into the house after he let you in, with hair still messy and clearly first clothes you dug from the closet thrown on you. You looked like a cute ruffled sparrow, which quickly transformed into a mother hen when he better explained his troubles about a little kid - now his adopted son - and how he couldn’t get him to fall asleep at the new place. You too didn’t know much about handling children, but you were willing to try and the white-haired man couldn’t ask for more. Both called off work the next day.
CEO!Jing Yuan who since then has a room in his house that belongs to you - over the years it got filled with your personal things, redesigned (twice!) to your tastes, and has been occupied over the years for almost half of each passing week.
CEO!Jing Yuan who adores Yanqing - the boy proved to be feisty, but at the same time he was very sweet and nice to have around. Jing Yuan didn’t think twice about adopting the little guy the moment he learnt of his friends’ passing, turning from a godfather to just a father. He, obviously, didn’t force Yanqing to call him dad, making up his mind that even if it never happens - it’s totally fine. Due to the age the boy could understand why his parents weren’t there and Jing Yuan was making all he could to give him a good life, a normal life. He was so lucky that you tugged along.
CEO!Jing Yuan who almost cried when Yanqing absentmindedly called him ‘dad’. The ten-year old didn’t even notice it, but to the man it meant the world. He spammed you with messages, all in caps and with weeping emojis, and felt his heart about to combust when you sent him a response full of excitement, congratulating him. And then messaged about how you wished to hear the boy call him dad the next time you were around. Damn, he wished so too.
CEO!Jing Yuan, who loves having you around. He melts when he returns to the living room after going to refill the snack bowl only to see Yanqing cuddled closely to you, staring at the screen with his head tucked under your chin. His lips tug into a wide smile when the boy asks you if you can be the one to get him from school tomorrow instead of Jing Yuan’s personal driver (and you always say ‘yes’, even if it means you’ll sacrifice your lunch break). A pleasant shiver runs down both his and the boy’s backs when you walk into Yanqing’s room to check on the two doing homework and gently scratch their heads. Jing Yuan loves the domestic life the two of you created.
CEO!Jing Yuan, who encouraged his son when a couple of years later he wondered if it’s okay if he started calling you ‘mom’. The man told him to approach you the next time you were staying over and ask your opinion on the matter. Which the boy did, shyly reaching out for your hand and when you gave it to him with a smile, dropped a bomb. Jing Yuan remembers the slight hesitation flashing in your eyes, how you lifted him and got him into your lap to be on the same eye level with him.
“Baby, are you sure?”
“Mhm. You’ve always been there. You raise me. And I really love you and want you to be my mom.”
“Even if I am not your father’s wife?”
“Maybe you should become her? But either way, yes.”
CEO!Jing Yuan who now can’t get the boy’s words out of his head. Yanqing is right - you’ve always been there. For them both. His, no, your son is thirteen now - meaning that for five years you’ve helped your friend raise the boy - you were not obligated to be there for his special events, you weren’t paid to take days off and sit with him when he was sick, no one asked you to kiss his forehead and tuck him into bed, there were no rules that said that you have to share his hobbies… Yet, you did. Always. And the man has always been very aware of that, but only his son’s words seem to open his eyes - both of you are his parents. Maybe it’s a shame you are not spouses.
CEO!Jing Yuan who feels kind of bad - you’ve spent 5 years of your life being a family to Yanqing and, admittedly, the man himself. You’ve given up searching for a partner, starting a family of your own just to make sure that the kid who has no relation to you grows healthy and happy. He can’t help but love and appreciate you.
CEO!Jing Yuan who finds out that you’ve been having similar thoughts about him after that conversation with your son. He really didn’t mean to overhear, he just wanted to drop by your office at the beginning of the break and offer to go get lunch together, only to stop at the mention of his name that passed through the door. Apparently, you sought advice from Yukong - the head of the logistics department, a fellow mother and one of the few who knew what your family dynamic was really like. You are concerned that you took the place that wasn’t meant to you - you worry that Yanqing got attached to you so strongly that should Jing Yuan start seeing someone, the boy would be too stubborn to accept.
CEO!Jing Yuan, whose heart skips a beat, when the teal-haired woman asks you, why you are not entertaining the possibility that you can be the one the man seeks a relationship with. The same heart drops into his stomach when you sigh and tell her of him never showing interest. Things seem platonic to you. Well, not to your coworkers, it appears.
CEO!Jing Yuan and you, who freeze in your seats, when at the end of the meeting a new secretary of the man asks if ‘Mrs Jing will also attend the event’ hosted by one of the company’s biggest clients. Confused, you look at your friend, who's equally stunned (but secretly, realizing what kind of mistake it is, fights back a tiny spark of delight). It turns out that the secretary thought the two of you were husband and wife and for that reason gave you the man’s last name. If it’s not the sign, then what is?
CEO!Jing Yuan who goes clothes shopping with you - because you both indeed are going to be at the event and the man insists the two of you buy something matching. When you ask why, he slyly smiles and promises that it’s his way of ‘showing interest’. At first you don’t get it. But when your cheeks heat up he knows the message is clear to you. You do call him a scoundrel and he heartily laughs at that, but you still reach out to his hand and he readily interlocks your fingers.
CEO!Jing Yuan who notices you getting flirtier, one time in particular not leaving his mind. He was comfortably sitting on the sofa, having everything he needed to push through the last bits of work he had decided to take home (‘everything’ being just his laptop and a mug of steaming tea). That’s when you approached him from the back, laying your palms on top of his shoulders, gently kneading the tense muscles, working a low appreciative grunt out of his throat.
“Yuan?”
“Mmm?”
“You look stressed,” fingers dug a little rougher into his flesh and the man groaned, shoulder flinching. Only for his whole body to go rigid when your voice fanned right against his ear, ”I know how to fix it.”
And then you innocently proposed to go to the gym together once he’d be done. Honestly? For a stunt like that Jing Yuan wanted to bite you.
CEO!Jing Yuan who does get his teeth onto you as you are trying to escape the trap of his arms after waking up from the cute cuddling session with Yanqing. Only for the boy to be gone upon your awakening (and you hear some shuffling in the kitchen) and a very hot man - your friend? boss?? unofficial-but-everyone-thinks-you-are-together lover??? - pressing your back into his chest with arms firmly circling your waist. When you attempt to move away, he suddenly surges forward and clamps his mouth onto the exposed juncture between your neck and shoulder. And nibbles.
“Jing Yuan!”
“Hufshf,” he mumbles into your skin, before releasing it and burying his face into your neck. “Don’t shout, you’ll alert Yanqing, and I want some more time with you.”
“...why?”
“Why?” He muses, and you feel a smile pressed to the back of your neck. “Because I think we’d make great as a couple.”
CEO!Jing Yuan who comes to an agreement with you that for the longest time it felt like the two of you were indeed a married couple. You share a place, you do most domestic things together, you go to places together, you raise a son together. And together you come to a conclusion that courting is due.
CEO!Jing Yuan who absolutely shares Yanqing’s sweet anticipation for when you will be able to legally adopt him. Which means - marrying his father (just let this man put a ring on your finger already).

Best of 2023 Good Omens Fanfiction
This is my list of the 20 best Good Omens fanfiction works I've read in 2023.
A few notes:
These are all complete works; there are no WIPs in the list.
Please feel free to let me know if a link stops working
It's not an ordered list. That would be far too difficult.
You'll probably recognize some of the most popular ones. They're popular for a reason, after all, but I hope you find something you haven't yet read.
The majority are full-length works, but there are definitely some shorter pieces.
These are certainly not the only good works I've read, but they are the ones I'm most likely to read more than once
Click the Keep Reading to see the list
If you're the author of one of these, first off, thank you! But second, if you want me to add your tumblr name to your story, let me know, and I'll edit.
This first section, all the stories are canon-compliant or canon-adjacent. In other words, it's at least somewhat set in the Good Omens universe.
a lighthouse (burning) (108K; Rated M)
This one is canon-adjacent and set in the 19th century. Aziraphale goes to a lighthouse to figure out where all the lighthouse keepers disappeared to, and Crowley follows along. This one is a bit of a spooky mystery along with the romance, and the writing style is simply beautiful. You really get a sense of being trapped in this lighthouse in the middle of nowhere.
***
The Grindr Logo Doesn't Even Have a 'G' In It (79K; Rated E)
It's honestly hard to remember that this one isn't human AU, but they're still just as angelic/demonic as ever. Aziraphale joins Grindr and starts texting (and then sexting) with a charming young man. It's no secret to the reader who this new hookup is. This story is genuinely funny at times. I like the funny ones.
***
The Whole Damned World Seemed Upside Down (103K; Rated M)
This is one of the best reverse omens stories I've read that isn't technically a reverse omens. Crowley wishes things were different after leaving the bookshop, and the universe gives him his wish. He finds himself in a world where Aziraphale hates him, Death has trouble taking lives, and basically everything you knew about the world of Good Omens is upside down. It's very funny. It uses inline footnotes (which is good, because it has a LOT of footnotes), and Death is hilarious.
***
it's a new craze (5K; Rated T)
Another one that seems like it should be human AU but isn't. Crowley and Aziraphale start up a podcast after the Notpocalypse and gain a loyal fanbase who can't figure out if they're a couple or not. They often forget who their audience is and often reference events in their shared history that make no sense to the humans listening.
***
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a demon in possession of a mobile phone, must be in want of attention (6K; Rated G)
And yes, that is the entire title. Another funny short story where a couple of podcast hosts receive a call from a certain angel whose demon trapped himself in his phone and won't leave.
***
In Mixed Company, or the Corporate Retreat of Heaven and Hell (52K; Rated M)
I've read this one at least three times, and it's probably my favorite of all. Every 300 years, Heaven and Hell share a company retreat on Earth during which angels and demons surrender their celestial powers and hold retreats. It has a great new angel friend of Aziraphale's; Hellish Powerpoint presentations; Gabriel being annoyingly chipper; and Aziraphale and Crowley sneaking around like teenagers trying to find some alone time.
***
How To Woo A Demon (24K; Rated T)
Aziraphale researches demonic courtship rituals and starts implementing them in order to convince Crowley he wants to take their relationship to the next level. Crowley is very confused by Aziraphale's actions. Another cute, funny one.
***
Factory Settings (107K; Rated T)
This one is famous for coming out practically as S2 dropped, making people think whoever wrote it (the author is anonymous) had something to do with the production of the show.
This is the only one I'm going to say anything negative about. There are a lot of spelling errors and typos in it. It needs a hard editing pass. Despite that complaint, I devoured this story as fast as I could scroll. It's that good, and even knowing all the errors are there, I'll probably still re-read it. I'm usually pretty picky about errors like that, so for me to overlook it and even recommend it, means I really liked it.
Crowley gets reinstated as the angel, Raphael, with no memory of his time as Crowley, and Aziraphale struggles to return him to his demonic self. It's heart-breaking and wonderful and I absolutely loved it.
***
One Night In Bangor (And the World's Your Oyster) (17K: Rated E)
Much like In Mixed Company, Heaven and Hell come together for a corporate retreat on Earth. In this one, some totally random demon who's name definitely doesn't rhyme with Bowley created a wager in Hell to see which demon could bed an angel first.
Another funny one. This time, a lot of the humor comes from the demons doing their best to pick up the angels with really bad pickup lines.
***
We Only Said Goodbye with Words, I Died A Hundred Times (9K; Rated E)
If I could learn to write even half as good as this, I'd be ecstatic. The emotions the author packs into this story are mind-blowing.
Crowley receives a cursed amulet that creates an ever-increasing need for the person he wants the most and goes to see Aziraphale.
***
To reveal my heart in ink (29K; Rated E)
Aziraphale starts writing letters to Crowley by mail. The letters they exchange slowly get more and more explicit.
***
Pray For Us, Icarus (66K; Rated G/T)
The author wrote this one as a series, so each one varies in chapter count and rating, but they tell a single, contiguous story.
This was the first long-form GO fanfiction I read, and it was way too close to the ending of S2. I really should've waited a while, because holy cow, is this one heartbreaking.
For three hundred years, Crowley has been reincarnated over and over as a human with no memory of his past. Aziraphale has spent those three hundred years trying to restore him to his true self.
The author, Atalan, is probably one of the best writers on the site. This story is stunning in the quality of its writing, in the pacing of the story, and in the emotions evoked. I normally don't like being sad (like I said, I like the funny ones), but I've saved this story off to make sure I always have it.

Pretend For Me (53K; Rated E)
In a panic, Aziraphale tells the archangels that he survived hellfire due to his soul mixing with Crowley's because they're in a romantic and sexual relationship, but now they want them to prove it.
I'm a sucker for fake relationship stories, and there aren't a whole lot of them where the characters are still angel/demon, but this one is. It's another fun one, though a bit more angsty than some of those I listed above.

The following are all human AU. Good chance you'll recognize all or most of these.
Married At First Sight (147K; Rated T)
One of the most recently completed stories in the list, this is a fake relationship story where Aziraphale and Crowley join a reality show that marries complete strangers off to each other. Their new marriage starts off on a less than idyllic foot and they decide to fake it for the show. The author is a master of making you want to scream "for fuck's sake, just talk to each other, you walnuts!"
Probably one of my favorite fake relationship stories.

Postcards From Paris (12K; Rated G)
The author, ghostrat (@mrghostrat), is a fantastic writer of human AU, and it's worth going through his entire backlist (and read his current WIPs, too).
Crowley moves into his Mayfair flat and starts receiving postcards addressed to the previous tenant from one A.Z.F., who is in Europe hunting for bizarre bibles and rating wine. Sweet and fluffy and the perfect antidote if you've just been on an angst binge.

Or Be Nice (151K; Rated E)
I stayed up until 6:30 in the morning reading this one, crashed for three hours, then read until I finished it. Then that night, I started it again.
This is, without hesitation, my all-time favorite human AU. It's funny. I love the author's version of the characters, and I will probably end up reading it again in just a few months. I probably already would have if it wasn't for the length of my Mark For Later and Subscription lists.
Crowley and Aziraphale are neighbors who get into a noise war. They both have their reasons for their actions, though to be honest, Crowley is a bit of an ass at first. Once they really start talking, though, they are absolutely wonderful together.
Even if you've never read a human AU, I recommend at least giving this one a try.

What We Make Of It (Shotgun Wedding) (213K; Rated E)
This is the third charlottemadison work on this list. 15% of this list is just this one author. That's how good they are.
Aziraphale works as an English teacher. Crowley is the guardian for his nephew, Adam, and works for a school testing company. Crowley can't risk his job dating his nephew's gorgeous and charming teacher. Unless...
Crowley comes up with a crazy plan. Now he just has to convince Aziraphale to go along with it.
Again, another very popular human AU. One thing I love about this story is how there's a lot less angst between the two characters, and how they both really care for Adam.

Slow Show (95K; Rated E)
The very first human AU I read. Didn't even think I'd like that specific genre until I read it. Now, as you can see, it's about half of my reading list.
This is an actor AU. Aziraphale (named Avery here) and Crowley are actors working together on a new show. Avery is an award-winning, straight-laced, well-respected actor; Crowley is a mess who immediately falls head-over-heels for him and somehow has to get through the show without letting his (apparently straight) costar realize that.

South Downs (76K; Rated E)
Another actor AU. This time, Aziraphale is an openly-gay actor, well-respected for his period drama work. Crowley is a once-blackballed actor who jumps at the chance to star in a gay Regency romance with Aziraphale in the hopes it can restart his career. The trouble is, Crowley is struggling to play the romantic lead opposite a man.
I love the growing friendship between these two as much as the romance. I love how comfortable and confident Aziraphale is here; and how caring he is toward Crowley's growing awareness of his sexuality.

This one doesn't really fit either category, so I'm putting it here.
The Rose and the Serpent (56K; Rated M)
By the same author as Pray For Us, Icarus comes a GO retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Aziraphale is sent off by his older brother, Gabriel, into the forest to be held hostage by a giant snake in a cursed castle. Turns out, neither the snake nor the castle are what he was expecting.
Light-hearted and with very memorable characters, the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale is simply stunning. I love how Newt and Anathema are used here. The quality of this one is as good as Icarus, and I loved this one so much I could easily have read 300K more words.

And bonus: mine!
The Beginning of the End (Again) (79K; Rated M)
The first fanfiction I've ever written and the first book I've written in a decade. I had the first two chapters in mind after finishing S2, and the story grew from there. I actually have a sequel in mind after I finish another, separate fake relationship story.
Crowley spends months drowning his sorrows after Aziraphale accepts the Supreme Archangel position, until a group of demons shows up one day and tells him the Second Coming is nearly upon them, and they want him to stop it. Turns out being a demon isn't much fun if there are no humans left to tempt.
Aziraphale has spent these last months in Heaven looking for ways to stop the Second Coming while mourning the way he and Crowley left things. After discovering that Hell's minions have been tasked by the Metatron to escort the son of God on a tour of Earth in preparation for his Second Coming, he hurries down to see what's going on, fearing the worst.
Instead he discovers Crowley escorting the Messiah around Earth. Is his demon taking the son of God on dates?
