1. Are you named after anyone?

The first name is not after anyone but my two middle names are after my grandmothers.

2. When was the last time you cried?

Couple of weeks ago. I was in fever for more than a week and I had a deadline for the research plan of my thesis. It was very hard to focus on reading and writing academic texts while on fever, and in the evening of the deadline I was extremely tired. I had a little breakdown about it after writing one (1) sentence in two hours. (It was fine, I was allowed to return it late.)

3. Do you have kids?

Only if my cat child counts.

4. Do you use sarcasm?

I do, but at the same time I'm sometimes unable to detect it when someone else uses it, if they are not obvious enough about it lol.

5. What's the first thing you notice about people?

Clothing and style I think. They are often the thing you can see even pretty far away, even before you're close enough to see their face. Clothing often tells at lest something about the person as it is a form of self-expression.

6. What's your eye color?

Blue.

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

Happy endings. They can be really nice though my favorites are bittersweet endings, but while I like horror and it intrigues me, I'm also very easily scared and especially on movie format it's too effective on me :'D For me to be able to watch horror, it requires very specific movies in a very specific setting and a right state of mind. So if I have to choose broadly, it's happy endings.

8. Any special talents?

I'm not sure what is counted as special talent? I guess some of the adhd things could be counted as special talents? Like yes I know weird amount of facts and details about my current and past hyperfixations and I can focus intensely on something for multiple hours continuously.

9. Where were you born?

Helsinki.

10. What are your hobbies?

Writing, drawing, sewing, researching dress history, hicking and tennis.

11. Have you any pets?

As mentioned, I have a cat, Nausicaä (named after that Ghibli movie/manga (also by Miyazaki)), or more friendly Nasse. She's mixed and from a farm, but looks like a Russian Blue and we call her poor man's Russian Blue. She loves to sit on high places and very neatly on the edge of the thing and look down at people, which is why we also call her a gargoyle and talk about how she loves gargoyling. (If you've listened to TMA - we've also come to the conclusions that she's definitely an acolyte of The Eye.)

12. What sports do you play/have played?

Tennis, as mentioned, but in past I've played (European) football, gymnastics, basket ball and badminton. All the rest I only played for like couple of years, when I was preteen/teen, tennis is the only one I've played for a long time, though never competitively (so it's not like I'm super good at it).

13. How tall are you?

175 cm

14. Favorite subject in school?

I loved a lot of subjects, almost everything interested me except learning new languages (because I was very bad at them lol, it's the cocktail of dyslexia and adhd). If I'd had to choose though my favorites probably would be history and geography.

15. Dream job?

At the moment: architect, whose specialised on restoration of historical buildings and repairing/remodeling existing buildings.

you talked about having ADHD. i’ve been having some trouble lately and i was wondering what it looks like for you? just to get an idea wether i might need to check it out or not.

so like. adhd looks different in everyone it affects, and i always recommend reaching out to a psychiatrist or even just your physician if you suspect you might have some Fucky Stuff going on with your brain! i was diagnosed with adhd when i was 10 which is pretty telling for how severe mine is because they dont usually diagnose afab kids that young LMAO but again. everyone is different!

HOWEVER i will start this off by saying that i also have severe bipolar 1, which has a lot of overlapping symptoms with adhd. im not a psychiatrist, a psychologist, or a therapist (or any other -ist), and i couldnt tell you which of my Problems are adhd and which are bipolar. so here's your disclaimer to please not use me as the deciding factor for whether or not you have adhd! my adhd personally is life-altering and essentially ruined my childhood for various reasons, and it's still something i struggle with daily. not every case is so severe (most aren't, in fact), so take everything i say with a grain of salt!

but here's a list of things i attribute to my adhd, which is very far from a complete list, but it's what i can think of off the top of my head:

i HATE silence. whenever im doing anything i have to be playing music or listening to something or i cant focus at all, but it also cant be New Music or ill just get distracted and not be able to focus

on the flip side, i also cant fully concentrate if i have any sort of noise. so if im trying to have a serious conversation that requires my full attention, i have to turn off all music and essentially block my ears so that i can focus. no i dont know why but its SO FUCKING ANNOYING

i alternate between skipping every song halfway through because i get bored quicker than a song can finish or listening to the same song for 6 hours on loop and still wanting to listen to more of it. seriously, i listened to rockstar sea shanty by nickelback almost 400 times this year alone, and i only just discovered it in august

when i hyperfixate, i cannot do ANYTHING else or i get massively depressed and lose all motivation. i ended up in a psych ward back in october because the thought of doing my (easy and otherwise enjoyable) job made me self-harm because i was hyperfocused on watching a specific show and i couldnt do ANYTHING else. im a terrible employee

time management? not here! im late to EVERY SINGLE THING. i had an interview yesterday and i was late by 15 minutes. when i was working at petsmart, i can count on both hands the number of times i showed up to work on time in an ENTIRE YEAR. i have no idea why im like this and i hate it

i pace. a LOT. like, i spend several hours a day pacing. i literally just walk around my kitchen and living room and bedroom aimlessly. im like an npc, but instead of giving you helpful tips i just give you really shitty one liners and puns until you beat me to death

if im not pacing, im doing SOMETHING. whether im biting my nails, popping my knuckles, bouncing my leg, bobbing my head, anything. its physically impossible for me to sit still. like right now, im sitting at my desk typing on my keyboard, but im also shaking my legs violently and bobbing my head to the music im currently playing (it's hicktown by jason aldean. yeah, i enjoy country music. im a redneck sorry)

i SUCK at multitasking. like, even just listening to something and writing. or listening to someone and watching tv. or listening to two things at once. okay, so im starting to think im just really bad at listening. but STILL. my mom can work and watch tv at the same time, but if i try to do that i just end up watching tv and i cant get anything done. i absolutely cannot concentrate if two things are happening at once

i cant watch movies. i literally spend more time rewinding and playing back whatever i missed while i was checking my phone than i do actually watching the movie. im the same way with tv shows unless im hyperfixated on them, but at least theyre shorter so i can take more breaks

again, this is not a complete list. nor does this mean that if you check all of these boxes then you also have adhd, or that if you dont check them then you dont. i cannot stress enough that adhd affects every person differently. thats why its such a bitch to diagnose, and why the symptoms overlap with so many other illnesses and disorders.

i do hope that some of this helped! i have no issues with talking about my own mental problems because im a very firm believer that they should be destigmatized and more often talked about publicly, but i try to limit how often i bring up my own issues unless someone directly asks about them because i know not everyone wants to hear about them and that's fine too!

I think I ship you with Obi-Wan no joke. You have the vibe of someone that knows what they're about but is still wanting to grow and learn, and that fits together with his vibe well. Like you'd both be quietly talking about your interests over tea at sunset, or just share a comfortable silence for hours. It's all vibes man.

I'd ask to be shipped with someone in Star Wars bc that's my current hyperfixation. Any gender is fine. I'm Asexual and Nonbinary/Fem (working it out), and have been described as bubbly, sweet, a push over, and a survivor. Wheeee trauma bby!!! I am the designated mom-friend in every friend group I've been in for the past decade. I tend to be a home-body but I love to travel, go to museums, and it doesn't take much more than an offer to get me to do something outside of my comfort zone. Hobbies are playing video games, dungeons and dragons, coming up with stories, or doing text RP with friends. Occasionally I write when the nerves and self doubt doesn't get to me first. (Asking this on Anon bc I am not out to that many people but if you do not feel comfortable answering that is all fair as well. Congratulations on the anniversary!!!)

I ship you with…Finn

While it may not be obvious at first, you and Finn have a lot in common. You’re both survivors trying to figure out who you are and who finally have the space and safety to do so. Finn is also fiercely loyal to his friends and would believe in you more than anything else. You’d both find yourselves as kind of the mom friend, wielding in other antics and bringing a grounded perspective. At the same time, if one of you suggested something a little risky, a new adventure would be right there for you with somebody you can trust by your side.

5 Year Anniversary Celebration 🍾

‘Hange, I’ll give you permission to talk to the girl. But under no circumstances are you to scare her. Keep things professional.’

Hange sat back down in their office with a bit stupid grin on their face.

A human from outside the walls, and they would get to meet her! It was like a dream come true for the titan hyperfixation scientist.

They took out a paper and some ink to start writing down on a little slip of paper; wanting to diligently track what would go down.

‘6:23 AM: I am currently writing this from my desk. I want to have a sheet of paper or two in order to write down and document all of my findings! We have as of yesterday found a human being that claims to have survived amongst titans! This could really help humanity, and we can learn so much about the titans!! I know my official meeting with this girl is hours from now but I can’t get my mind off of it. After all, a good scientist is always thinking, preparing for their next big piece of work!’

It was safe to say Hange didn’t sleep the night before out of pure excitement; which wasn’t out of character for them. And even so, they weren’t tired at all that day.

‘9:57 AM: the meeting is about to happen in just minutes! I just can’t wait to meet this special specimen!’

‘10:05 AM: I was honestly expecting a more.. intimidating appearance? But nothing ever ends up how you expect in this line of work, so it’s no big deal. I’ve already gotten her name down. I'm not exactly sure how much she will be willing to share, so I’ll just have to write down what I’m able to get!’

‘10:30 AM: she finally spoke! Her voice is very quiet, it fits her name perfectly! This girl claims her name is ‘Whisper Feather’ which I already knew. It is a strange name but nothing in this situation actually makes much sense. After that she went quiet again. But she’s giving me little nods! I’ve gotten some nods to my questions. What I’ve gotten so far from her is that she doesn’t exactly know the amount of time she has lived and isn’t sure about her exact age. She does know her whole life was spent outside the walls, and has no knowledge of what the walls even are. This is truly something new, considering the only other documented case of a human outside the walls was Grisha Jegar, and even he knew what the walls were and how dangerous titans are! I have to assume she can’t be quarillated with him in any way, though it’s a good thought to keep in mind.’

“So, Whisper. You claim you lived with a titan, correct?”

The frail girl gave Hange a nod but nothing else, staying silent as her good eye remained focused on the floor. She seemed fearful, her body language tense. Hange quickly scribbled down it seemed as if she felt intimidated and or scared of people. It made the scientist wonder what she has been through.

“Wonderful! Do you have any clear memory of this titan? Is it what caused your scars?”

That question quickly caught the young girls attention as she snapped her head up to look right back at Hange with wide eyes.

“W.. What..? Why would Mara hurt me like that..? She would never..”

Whisper seemed distraught by the mention of someone even thinking this ‘Mara’ titan could cause her harm. Which was something Hange also quickly noted down.

‘10:45 AM: I think I found some sort of breakthrough! Whisper won’t talk much about anything unless it has to do with this ‘Mara’ titan. It seems like a good starting point. Though I want to pry about her scar and also the fact that titans are known for hurting people, I don’t want to scare her off or shut her down. So for now, I will stay open minded. I'm sure Levi will have all of that scolding and teaching down for her anyways. Whisper told me vague things, such as ‘16 meters’ ‘blonde’ and ‘skinny’ which isn’t too much to go off of. But it really is something considering how little she speaks. It’s hard to keep myself professional right now, this whole thing is so exciting! But the commander gave me specific instructions to not scare her.. so I have to hold my feelings in for now. I'm sure Molbit will listen to my rambles once I’m done.’

‘11:06 AM: my session with Whisper Feather ended not too long ago. I wasn’t able to get much more out of the girl but by god did I get more than enough! Hopefully she liked me, because me and her are going to be working together a lot from now on.’

‘8:34 PM: I wanted to go check up on how Whisper was settling in for the night. She had to be kept hidden away from others in an isolated room in order to keep others safe and keep her existence hidden. I peeked in a bit ago only to find her curled up on her bed, clinging onto the pillow. It seemed like she was crying and it takes no genius to tell she’s in a horrible headspace currently. I went to try and talk to her but she was unresponsive. I hope she gets some rest.’

A New Hyperfixation

Well, may as well kick off the renovation with a post about hyperfixations. Here, have a dumb post that contains more writing and effort than my essays during senior year did.

My last hyperfixation was Mystery Skulls Animated. I found a link to Hellbent, the most recent video, the day it dropped. I enjoyed it and went back to watch the first two videos in the series. And like that, I was hooked! Not long after I joined a Discord group. Unfortunately (or, rather... Maybe it was fortunate after all?) the admins were no longer into MSA and thus deleted the server after having been there for.. Maybe a week at most? 

Needless to say, I was devastated and wanted a community to yell about my fixation with. So I went and searched on tumblr, and came across a post by someone I now consider to be a good friend, advertising their MSA Discord Server. Thankfully they allowed me in, and it was wonderful. I made friends left and right, I had wonderful discussions about theories and ships, I finally had my muse back. For the first time in months, my artistic muse was back in full force, and I was doodling all the time! Hell, I even finished pieces! Lines, colour, background... Everything I hadn’t done in months.

I made... Honestly, some wonderful friends. I haven’t felt this close to people in what seems like years (although in reality, it’s probably just been closer to 7 months). Hell, I could sit here on my laptop all day and wax poetic about the people I’ve come to know and love. 

Aw hell, love... I forgot to mention I fell in love, too. Which was, obviously, a stupid thing for me to do. I’m still trying to figure myself out; trying to further myself and carve out a meaningful place in the world, to come to terms with my gender and the dysphoria that follows, to simultaneously move forward and yet hold myself back out of fear... My brain isn’t in tune with my heart, though, so here I am distancing myself in a poorly executed plan to get over them. I know it’s not fair to them, and kind of a shitty thing to do? But ah... C’est la vie, as the saying goes. I did mention I was dumb, right? 

This person and I- y’know, writing “this person” is going to get very old... I’ll call them King. King and I talked all the time, whether it be in the server or in DM’s. Shared secrets and tidbits about ourselves; things I haven’t told to another person in a long time. Things I limited only to my best friends... In fact, they were the one to introduce me to my current fixation. 

The server often times had events. Game Nights, voice chats, drawpile, movie nights... The whole 9. This also extended to my friends and I. King even streamed musicals for me to watch. First came Dear Evan Hansen (yes, I sobbed). Then, King showed me Hamilton. 

Now, Hamilton, I had heard rumblings about throughout the years. I had a passing interest, “yeah, I’d like to see it at some point! But it’s not number one on the list by any means. I’m into something else right now” was my train of thought. When King offered to stream another musical, of course I was interested! Hamilton was amongst the choices offered that night, and uh, our other viewer... Ha, I’ll dub them as “Silver”. He’d like that.  Silver chose Hamilton. 

Needless to say, I fell in love with the show. I don’t know why this one, or why now; I’d had many things I could’ve fixated on before then- Spiderverse, Venom, and Dear Evan Hansen just to name a few... But here I am. 

Immediately I started looking for tickets to see it, trying to gauge the price. It was during the initial searches that I saw the show was about to begin its third tour. So when I saw it was coming to New Orleans, I knew that was my opportunity. I picked up more hours at the Bell, I ended up getting a raise, I had money left over from Christmas. I budgeted and scrimped and saved. I negotiated with my grandmother, who was going to be down at the Bay when the cast came to New Orleans, to find a way to go see it. 

And all the while I had begun to read fanfiction. Falling more and more in love with the characters, with the ships. I bought the soundtrack and began memorising the songs from Act 1. 

And finally, after multiple rounds of negotiations, working 6 days a week, and scoping prices on tickets... I’m happy to say that I’ll be going to see the show just after St Patties Day. I am beyond excited. To share this experience with my grandma. To have a small vacation before throwing myself back into work. To immerse myself in my latest hyperfixation. 

The only downfall to this? I spend less time on the MSA server. I spend less time with the friends I’ve made. My muse is... Not gone, per se, but definitely shifted. I draw less, and write more- fitting, huh? It’s somehow more intense and more gentle than my fixation for MSA. So I’m... Floundering? I suppose that’s an apt descriptor. I’m floundering as I adjust to the abrupt shift in my personality and habits. It’s terrifying and freeing all at once, and I find that I can’t bottle it up anymore. So. 

Here’s to a shift. A renovation. A revelation. A revolution. Let’s hope some of these habits stick. I quite like writing again.
