Every once and a while I think about Jay and Ava and wonder what they were like when then were younger
were they super close? did they go on little adventures together? did ava braid jays hair? did they play dress up? did they give each other bad makeovers? was there fashion shows for their parents?
what was their girlhood like? was it happy? or was there an underlying note of sadness under all of it because someone was missing?
did their father taint the happy family memories?
or was he actively present and involved until their teens?
Did he come home from work and tuck them in?
Did he play dolls with them?

it's funny because in our two examples of "what does a high mage do" we see Viren be involved in basically every decision that Harrow makes as an advisor, even ones that wouldn't necessarily warrant it immediately, versus Callum, who *checks canon* isn't substantially involved in any decision Ezran makes as king in any given season

i've been so into kafka after reading the metamorphosis it's actually insane, i am going to read everything this man wrote because he captured emotion so well and made me feel so much in 73 pages 🗣️🗣️
the sad thing about translated books is you can never fully grasp an authors work in the way it was intended to be read, and that will always plague my life

Don't mind me, I was just thinking about how Crowley must feel every time Aziraphale seems to put him in a box with the rest of hell. I know he tells him he's nice and kind and good and his friend just as many times or more, but still - after 6000 years of friendship and Doing The Right Thing together, it must have hurt when Aziraphale told him he's evil, and then even more when he told him you're the bad guys.
I just find it sooo interesting to look into every instance of Aziraphale talking about Crowley in either way. I want to take his thought process apart and study it under a microscope. We know that he knows that Crowley isn't evil, and we know that Crowley knows that he knows, and we (and Crowley) know that Aziraphale (up until a certain point) is just incredibly Heaven-brainwashed and it's hard for him to break out of that unless there's a situation at hand that requires Direct Action (see giving away the flaming sword to protect Adam and Eve, or protecting Job's children, or helping Elspeth to help Dalrymple, or stopping the Apocalypse).
How does he travel the world and the ages with Crowley and still somehow manage to call him evil with any level of seriousness? He is so convinced that all demons are evil, and at the same time he knows that Crowley's fall was unjust and a mistake and Crowley is NOT evil, but Crowley is a demon, but he's good and kind and nice and just, and Aziraphale sometimes struggles with that. Not consciously, I think, consciously he loves Crowley and trusts him and knows him well enough to see beyond angel/demon good/evil black and white thinking, but sometimes thoughts slip out of his mouth that are just. So far removed from what we know he knows.
He believes so strongly, in two things that could not be more mutually exclusive, and it's so fascinating. There's a lot of growth in that regard over the course of the series, we know that by the end of season 2 when he's talking to the Metatron, he is very clear in stating that his priority and his loyalty lie with Crowley, not with heaven. And I hold firm to my belief that he is going to Heaven because That's The Right Thing To Do, because he believes he can Make Things Better, for everybody, yes, but most importantly for Crowley. For the two of them!!
And YET. AND YET "you're the bad guys" somehow comes out of his mouth, when Crowley has Never really been a part of hell, and has always wanted to do the right thing for as long as Aziraphale has known him, and has been free of hell for Years now.
Still, Crowley is a Demon, and Demons Are Evil, angels and demons are hereditary enemies, right?
Except.... it's a little different when it's someone you know, isn't it?

Can’t stop thinking of what Harrow’s reaction to Nona would be. Herself stripped down to her bare essentials, all those nasty desires and wants she had all her life that she’s shoved down in order to bring honor to the Ninth. Not even her sacred make-up is left, she has literally been laid bare. And what is left? A bare-faced little lesbian who loves dogs and her family. Would Harrow be haunted by who she could have been or will she respond with the anger and vitriol as always?

It's so interesting to me that Nate clearly adores Mitch and thinks quite highly of him considering Mitch is like. the antithesis to Nate's all work no play, extreme health diet. Like this is a man that apparently regularly breaks his diet to get fast food and treats hockey games with unimaginable fun and whimsy vs a man that subjects himself to chickpea pasta. Do you think he just vibrated in silent rage every time they had dinner together and Mitch stuffed his gormless hamster cheeks with three cheese burgers. Did he have his nutritionist on speed-dial under the table
im literally giggling at the image of nate mitch connor and sid out at dinner where nate connor and sid all order something nutritionally responsible and then mitch orders chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and a side of fries and mac and cheese and then begins stuffing it all down with his grubby little paws & GREAT enthusiasm while nathan gets increasingly more quiet and red in the face.
AND YET nathan would snatch that little grease-filled hamster up and plop him in his carry-on suitcase to kidnap him back to his house in colorado (maybe this is all part of nate's master plan...he wants to kidnap minch so he can introduce mitch to the food of his people (insane))
maybe nathan is the ONE person on this earth who earnestly thinks "i could fix him..."
meanwhile mitch is just sitting there like “yoy got snacks on ur phone?”
