your profile picture always reminds me of the magnus archives cover, funnily enough. it’s very cool (and may i ask what the words on your header are?)

Someone once told me that every time they were scrolling through tumblr and saw my pfp they thought I was The Magnus Archives, which I thought was fun. That was also back closer to when I first changed it to this picture so people hadn't acclimated as much yet

And yes you may ask about the words! They're difficult if not impossible to read because I applied a glitch effect over them and intentionally wrote in sloppy cursive in neon green, but it's the beginning of the wings au!!

It's a word for word transcription of chapter one, or at least as much of chapter one I could fit in the space. I just wrote it in until I'd filled the space I wanted to fill.

If you know the words you can kinda fumble your way through it, otherwise it's discernible as words but you can't really read it.

This, for example, reads "It was comical, really, just how quickly their security had crumbled into"

It's from the very top left of my header. If you've read any of the wings au, you may know that it starts "It was comical, really, just how quickly their security had crumbled into unbridled, ravaged chaos." It continues from there throughout the whole header! I squeezed almost 400 words in there, but it's actually spaced so that it ends one word too soon to finish a sentence and I didn't wanna go back and do it all over again when you can't even read it.

But yeah! That's what my header says. Words are very important to me so I went "what words are mine?" and ended up with the wings au. And now I've had this pfp and header for almost a year.

ik my pfp is Dylan the Quarry 80s special with the "you are a fish in a tank at walmart" pov, but Dylan's 80s fit is just (guy playing the accordion falls down stairs and lands on a whoopee cushion). as in, it was a choice but maybe not the best choice

Top Ten Least Bad Outfits in TNG

I'm gonna be honest and say that the non-uniform outfits in TNG are not my favorite costume design in the world, but there are some looks that stick with me:

10. That Girl Who Kissed Data That One Time's Outfit:

I can never decide if I like this look or I think it's ugly, but I love the pants and tall boots combo. Her blouse is bad and the bouclé jacket is both too heavy and too fussy for this outfit, but I love the belt and suspenders combo, and the chevron embossing on the suspenders. This costume and all the others except #9 is a Robert Blackman design.

9. This Jumpsuit On That Girl From "The Dauphin":

This is the only William Ware Theiss design on this list. I love his TOS stuff but most of his TNG designs leave me cold 🤷‍♀️. But I love this is extremely 80s jumpsuit. Love the pretty drape, love the ruching on the sleeves, love the harem pants silhouette. Only note is that the whole bodice should be a structured corset bodice instead of the kind of odd structured panel it has now.

8. Picard's Shorty Pyjama Set:

TNG is absolutely full of the strangest pyjama choices you can imagine and Picard is no exception but I love this bold look. Would kill for this pyjama set. He also takes a work zoom wearing this one time which is insane.

7. Data's 1890's Looks But Specifically This One With The Shirtsleeves And The Blue Shirt:

The best part of "Time's Arrow" is that Data isn't a fish out of water in the 1890s, he's absolutely killing it, and I love that the only real Casual Data look we get is this one. I prefer the blue shirt to the pink because Data should really wear more blue, it's a nice contrast with yellow. Please also note his emerald watch fob, which was 0% necessary to blend in, he's just having fun with it.

6. 12 Year Old Keiko's Linen Overalls:

The paperbag waist! The bow! The little bows at the shirt cuffs! I can understand why she replicated a miniature copy of this outfit.

5. Beverly and Guinan's Dixon Hill Holodeck Costumes:

I'm counting these as one because they're essentially the same design in different color pallets but what color paletts! Bev is pulling off the very difficult pink+red+red hair and the mint green on Guinan is 🤌. I particularly love how Guinan's hat is so 1940s yet also echos the silhouette of her usual costume.

4. Deanna's Teal Dress:

Like all of you I prefer Deanna in the uniform, but this dress slays, ok? The space age asymmetrical neckline. The drop waist. The structured bodice. The slit almost all the way to the hip. And of course the matching tights and shoes CANNOT BE BEATEN. Also one time I saw a dude on a Star Trek forum call this a "ballgown" which baffles me to this day, this is clearly a slightly fancy day dress.

3. Picard's 1890s Look:

You'd think Picard would go full posh in the 1890s but instead he gives us this working-class Shakespearean director look and he 👏 looks 👏 incredible 👏. Way to mix textures, Jean-Luc.

2. Lore's Turtleneck and Giant Vest:

You and I know that Lore stole these clothes from the Pakleds because we pay a lot of attention to Star Trek costumes, but to a normal viewer Lore shows up and this is just his outfit!! It's giving, like, space-age goblincore and it's incredible. I want wear this oufit every day. I want to make a little doll Lore wearing this outfit to express my love for it. It's only not #1 because the pants are too orange and a strange weave.

Deanna's Ancient West Holodeck Outfit:

Deanna!!! The pants! The hat! The calico! She looks 10/10 hot in this outfit. For sure the superior version of this is before she gives her neckerchief to Worf (it really benefits from that cool highlight) but either way this is the best anyone's ever looked on that holodeck.

Younger Bros Edition

Satan

Mainly dark and neutral colors ~ Browns, Beiges, Sage Greens, and Blacks

Took him the longest out of all his brothers to develop his own personal style due to his lack and over-concentrated knowledge of Fashion

Always carrying some type of bag with him to store any books, notebooks/journals, and cat treats/toys for any strays

Isn’t inspired by any type of specific fashion type, but he has a specific style he likes to call his own that’s distinctive to him

Always wearing an oversized t-shirt and button up combo, or a Sweater + Button up combo

Asmodeus

A mix of colors ~ Light pinks & Reds to Whites and Blacks

Inspired by Preppy/Minimalist Fashion along with Club fashion (but I can also see him being into Rave Fashion/Culture)

Loves to wear revealing clothing like crop tops, tanks with cut outs, and low rise jeans, but also loves to wear sweaters, varsity jackets, and Wide legged/Flared jeans

He would wear thongs/g-strings along with low rise jeans or with a pair of regular jeans + a crop top (Or he’ll just wear them as a fun surprise for his partner <3)

Beelzebub

Mainly Dark colors ~ Blacks, Deep Reds, Grays

Same as Levi will always wear oversized Graphic tees and hoodies, Beel will always rock some type of tank/compression shirt

Prefers gym or basketball shorts over jeans, but also enjoys wearing loose sweats & Cargos

Isn’t really inspired by any type of fashion, he just wears what he finds the most comfortable to workout in, or what he thinks he looks the best in (he looks good in anything I love him so much)

One of the reasons he prefers tanks is because he has multiple tattoos across his the left side of his chest, to his shoulders going down his arm that all have important meanings (Some corresponding to his brothers, some representing Lilith, and even some to cover up his scars from the celestial war)

Belphegor

Little smelly emo shit.

Dark & Light colors ~ Deep purples, Blacks, Grays, and Whites

The first thing you notice about him when he enters a room is the sound of his pant chains jingling and his eye-catching studded belts

Always wanted to have to ‘Older brother in the 2000’s aesthetic’ so he took heavy inspo from it once he was given more individuality in his style after the Fall

I can also see him dressing more on the Colorful Scene side decked out head to toe in Neons, Blacks, and checkered patterns

♡ I keep seeing/hearing body hair, they have a lot of it (I'm seeing this regardless of gender. Women may feel more comfortable letting their body hair grow OR may constantly be complaining about it/shaving it. She might shave in some areas and not shave in others (ex: regularly shave her legs, but her arms are unshaved)). Might have something characteristic like sideburns or a unibrow (ladies w a unibrow: btw I love you you're so pretty ily genuinely)

♡ Brown hair or darker colored hair.

♡ This particular person might be Asian, specifically hearing Middle Eastern or South Asia (Pakistan? India?). Also possibly Egypt or North African.

♡ They have medium toned skin. Obviously, the countries listed are a lovely spectrum of skintones and there is not one particular skin tone for one region, but they are more than likely brown versus being white or black.

♡ lovely voice I heard, not particularly a physical characteristic but you'll love their voice.

♡ might have very nice...feet? You'll like their feet, something about them is lovely in a foot model way but also sturdy, or they may have a certain gait or way of walking you find to be attractive.

♡ excellently fashioned. Specifically said. You might really like their fashion taste. Best dressed (being brought to the best dressed game on animal jam, they may model or just have top notch fashion, always on top of trends or may wear things that are classy, chic).

♡ may be genetically French. Not seeing them being from France (obviously if you are in Europe this is more likely, take what resonates), but a similar appearance to Pile One's person.

♡ I'm being brought to an image of some tiktoker, but his female version for videos? She usually has freckles from the filter & longer brown hair.

♡ pale af. Nothing wrong with pale people but they're pale lol. Whatever you consider pale is them.

This Week in BL - The Sign is Slaying

Jan 2024 Wk 2

Ongoing Series - Thai

The Sign (Sat YT) ep 8 of 12 - Tharn in Phaya’s too big clothing is the cutest thing in the world.

I gotta to say something about Babe's acting really quickly. I love the way he’s inhabiting the personality of his naga character with reptilian eye and body movements and (I don’t know how to put this) a certain reserved, elegant, slithering- ness. He's very good this new boy of ours. (He come from something physical like dance?)

I adored them doing the walk of shame and being teased.

ALSO I enjoyed the way they handled Tharn’s gender in the past with his costume (the pha chung hang is gender neutral but that green top is a kinda combo m+f) and pronouns et al.

Language corner:

They are using ancient pronouns. I *think* I heard: daow (3rd), khun/jao/tan (2nd), kaa (Ist) - all pronouns in use are gender neutral - to the best of my understanding.

Last Twilight (Fri YT) ep 10 of 12 - Ooo. Day comes out to fam. Also his maa legit took his phone away and said

“I don’t mind you being gay but you can’t date a poor.”

Still, these 2 do kind of make the best secret boyfriends ever.

Also I begin to love Night: “that’s my baby” indeed. You special ain’t ya?

For Him (Thurs iQIYI) ep 7 of 12 - I’m starting to find this pretty boring at this juncture. Bummer, because for a while I was enjoying it.

Twins the series (Fri GaGa) ep 11 of 12 - The stuff with the spy on the team is super boring. I’m not wild about the side characters either. So most of this episode was a bust for me. I did like First’s ex.

Pit Babe (Fri iQIYI) ep 9 of 14 - Charlie & Babe = honeymoon phase. Jeff & Kim = forgotten. Pete & Way = riddles wrapped in alphas but actually enigmas. Everyone else = gang bang phase…. Apparently. Trash watch happening here.

Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 6 of 12 - Loved that this was a mutual kiss. (Also how comfortable are OffGunn kissing now? Babies!) I’ve moved from indifference to absolute loathing of the side couple tho.

Oddball LIES from the script = the gayest bridge in Bangkok isn’t lit up after 9pm.

Meanwhile, very important kicky kicky feet and Doc is a dork about flirting now that he’s all in. Looks like we get the official boyfriend ep next week.

You and My Stars YT 2of 2(?) - Couldn’t find it. Not fussed.

Time the series (Thai Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - Okay so there’s a gang and someone named Chris is killed and his boyfriend, actor Foam, is jumped back in time to save him? NO SINGING. Between Chris’s death and that time-slip there’s some kind of accidental murder, a pink pocket watch, Chris being alive again but also a different person, and a make out scene. Are you also confused? Actually, the real question is: Do we continue watching? Remember we (the collective BLorg) do not trust MFlow.

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 21 of 24 - The acting has been pretty terrible all along with this series, but this one is the worst. I just can’t. I may tune in for the last installment but this one is a DNF for me.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - It’s utterly adorable. Very manga, but so far not grating on my nerves. They so cute! You know I adore a hyung romance. Add a v gay sauna scene and an OUT gay boy and just... YES. All the married breeder regulars being overly invested in their pretty cook’s queer drama queening, it's so good.

AND THEN a confession in the first episode? Japan sure loves to mess with the pacing of plots drops.

Also, how much do I want to eat every single piece of food in this darn show?

Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 5 of 8 - Man I wish this were better I enjoyed this more. Sigh. I do LOVE the stepbrother sides. Of course I do. But how can this feature 2 of my favorite relationship types (age gap, stepbrothers) and not be my favorite BL airing? Japan, how do you ALWAYS do this to me?

VIP Only (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 9 of 10 - I don’t know. I just wish this were better. Also shorter.

Night Dream (Sat YT) 6 eps - It’s a pain to track down and I really didn’t like the first episode so… DNF

The Whisperer (Sun ????) 10 eps - Thai horror BL that ALSO involves cheating (what joy is mine). I don't think even the perfect single dimple can motivate me to watch. Word is... it's terrible.

7 Days Before Valentine (Weds WeTV) 10 eps - Giving me Luminous Solution vibes. I'm waiting to binge if safe.

Dead Friend Forever (Thai Sat iQIYI) - horror, meh, tell me if it's worth my time?

Infinight Interns Reference Sheet + Headcanons

Bartholomew Finn

-Vest of Slow Descent-i made it green based off his canon design and then gave it "feathered" hems to allude to its ability

-pre-Draconic Transformation Bart-gave him silver jewelry and the only draconic traits are gold freckles, fangs, and shorter horns

-post-Draconic Transformation Bart-gold jewelry to match with his dad (Simsun), and of course claws and scales and larger horns

-boatswain's call whistle-a reference to the Jebediah + Capt. Marge

-gave him the thigh dagger sheath-cause why not. I think Bart's that character in movies that has a shit ton of knives hidden in the most improbable places

-he's got a 17 string lute, but lets be honest i aint drawing 17 strings. painted a wave design on the body and the soundhole/rosette has a dagger design

-Breath Diagem/lute pick ftw

-scars on his hands (from doing hot boi sailor shit)

-not shown but i think he's got a bunch of tattoos (like "I <3 Mom" for Marge, flowers for Gum Gum, crossed anchors, etc.)

-pupils are slitted like dragons and a very dark shade of blue

Kyborg the Mighty/Kydelius of Everwinter

-Fun Fact: i used to do archery! so some of his gear is based off of stuff I had. But you know cooler

-Canonically his hair pretty loose, and its pretty but my god its gonna get caught up in his bowstring man. braided/tied it back for practicality

-thigh highs. no notes

-gave him an armored version w/ fur because his current design didn't feel like Everwinter-y enough

-its not terribly visible but he has the Belt of Sick Trick so i put a bird on it (vaguely Tony Hawk reference)

-the Longer Bow Krystallina-gave it a snow fall design + red accents

-scars from archery, since this guy shoots barebow

-the left (flesh arm) side is the most armored and unscarred, and the right (metal arm) side is scarred + unprotected (bc u know its metal)

-pupils are really dark shade of red as a reference to the Source Diagem

-metal arm-i took an anatomy class not a robotics one, so the structure is based off human musculature (kinda) and i put the Source Diagem in his shoulder instead of his hand

Gum Gum Galindor

-star boi 🌟

-constellations on the inside of the brim of his hat that Bart sewed for him-(Bart's a sailor, he knows his constellations)

-the flowers (orange @ blue) on his hat represent him & Bart. The orange ones bigger bc u know thats his big bro right there

-the hoodie+pauldron+cross body strap combo is a direct copy of Bart's design bc thats what younger siblings do u know

-made the patches to repair his coat stars bc why not

-Random Axe of Kindness-the cute lil heart does not detract from the fact that its an axe

-timeskip design i went for a gardener vibe bc he works in the Orchidnage now-i think despite having the worst dad of the group, Gum Gum would be a pretty good father figure

-Staff of Flowers-i wanted to reference Dia w/ this one so I tried to have this be the most colorful part

-Bart pierced his ears at one point

-i gave him constellation freckles that showed up post Dia reveal

-he has his manacles yeah but i wanted to design friendship bracelets for the rest of the team

-Mudd's-green thread with pink & white flower beads-the charm is Gumbo

-Bart's-leather cord with blue & gold beads and an anchor charm

-Kyborg's-brown leather cord, green beads, and a red arrow charm

-pink paw pads + talons-less of a firbolg thing, more of a Moon Druid thing

-eyes are a rlly dark shade of green but glow a brighter shade when Wildshaping

-pupils are a rlly dark shade of purple (Diagem ref) and also horizontal like cows

thank you, gorgeous! this was such a fun combo to start off with <3 also, your request was perfect, so don’t worry! (wc: 882)

Lush green turns yellow and purple at sunset, and you can’t get enough of it. It’s like the whole world is wrapped around you, cool and prickly and real and right beneath your fingertips.

The stream is smooth and lazy, shining an image of the pink sky back at your hung head. You focus on that instead of the mounting fear of spending your first night outside the tower.

Under the intensity of the setting sun, the foliage around your camp takes on matching shadows. The contrast is scary, but it’s also beautiful, something you’d love to paint if you had your supplies.

That’s a dangerous path of thought, one that you shut down immediately. Even brushing against the idea of paint makes your insides wither with dread, reminded of your poor mother who’d gone to get you more—your mother who’s likely worried sick about you now.

“Alright?”

Lifting from your mopey posture, you find your companion returning with a sizable collection of firewood.

James seems to be in good spirits, all things considered. He’s been nice enough, though you can admit you’d worried that the guard-chase and near drowning might sour his attitude.

“I’m great,” you reassure him, plastering a smile on your face. Now’s not the time to show any weakness, no matter how frightened you might be.

Returning with a grimace, James dumps his armful where he stands and approaches you.

“Y’know, it’s not too late to go home.”

James has been saying this at every juncture of your adventure, desperate to dump you back at your tower and be rid of you. There’s no reason for that to sting now, after everything.

“Uh-uh. If you want me gone, you’ll have to try harder than that.”

With a frown, he settles in next to you, watching the horizon hesitantly.

“As if,” he says, though he’s lacking any real quip. “No, I just uh…I know all this wasn’t what you had in mind when you set out with me.”

You fiddle with a strand of hair. He’s really asking, you realize. With a puff of nervous laughter, you shake his sobriety off.

“Well, I didn’t really have anything in mind. Tall tower, remember?”

“Yeah,” James scoffs, “yeah, a pretty safe tower, too. And spacious.”

“And lonely,” you add.

Sighing, he nods his reluctant agreement.

“True, but there are worse things out there than being lonely, sweetheart. Things that might really hurt you.”

You take that in, staring at James with an odd curiosity. His shoulders are hunched around his ears, his hair flopping untamed into his eyes—courtesy of the unplanned swim you both took. It’s like looking at a completely different person, seeing James without his criminal bravado. Seeing him…unsure.

“James Potter, are you…are you worried about me?”

He straightens immediately, and while you mourn the loss of the gooey center you caught a glimpse of, you like to see him squirm, too.

“Wha-hat? Please. No, I'm trying to get away from you, and if you die you might be able to haunt me. I’m taking preliminary steps to prevent that.”

“Right,” you snip back sarcastically, “haunting.”

You might be sheltered, but you’re old enough now to know that ghosts aren’t real. James seems to see this in your expression, so he stands petulantly and stalks back towards his pile of sticks.

“Whatever, I’m not talking afterlife with a girl whose hair glows.”

Laughing, you watch him go, now truly missing his window of sincerity. For a sudden moment you almost feel it’s worse to be lonely outside of your tower than in it, and it sends a crack of fear down your center all over again.

Gathering some of your hair in your arms, you hold it to you like a stuffed toy, searching for any comfort you can find.

“James?”

“What now, trouble?”

Worrying your lip, you begin to second guess yourself, but an impatient glance from James encourages you.

“Do you really think I’d be better off going back?”

This takes his attention again, his hands ceasing their fire-building. Over the small pit he’d assembled, he considers you, jaw working.

You know what he’ll say, your frame braced for his resounding yes. You’re not sure why the thought carves your chest open when he’s never been anything but against this agreement. You wanted to prove your mother wrong, show her how capable you are, but it seems everybody but you agrees on the falsity of that statement.

Eventually, James sighs, a self-abasing sound that doesn’t give you much hope.

“Do you really want to see those lanterns?”

Once again, he seems completely sincere in his asking.

Even though you know the answer, know it like your own name, you stop to consider his question and all it entails. Not just if you want to see the lanterns, but if you’re willing to do what it takes to make it there. So far, you haven’t disappointed yourself, and you find the insatiable fire in your belly is only burning hotter than when you left.

“More than anything,” you say, and you make sure to steel your voice with all the determination you feel. James smiles, that small window returning.

“Then don’t let anything stand in your way,” he tells you, his eyes locked on yours. “Not even me.”

Costume Meta 7x02

We are short on the costumes to look at this week as we continue this multi episode arc, so this meta is going to be a pretty short one! I’ve had a pretty busy weekend, so things have worked out for me and its also the reason why I'm only posting this on a Tuesday evening!!!!

There are a few things to point out before I get to the main costumes - we have more bright pink in play here - on the Mom in the car that got hit by the drunk driver. I still have no idea what its trying to tell us a this point, but I have my eyes peeled for more bright pink to appear in the next couple of episodes and see if I can unravel its use.

On the non costume front, on the ship - its a yellow cable that leads to the bomb that ensures communication cannot be restored to the ship when nit explodes - the fact the communications engineer also dies, just re-emphaises the point. Communication is a key theme in this episode.

Back to costumes an in the same vein as the cable, we see Captain O’s deputy in his yellow rain coat when she gives the abandon ship order, and the yellow wire is prominent on the radio when she tells him to do so. He is now the one responsible for communicating her order to the rest of the ship and getting everyone onto the life boats. This is good and effective communication and we see the results of it as we are shown the ship being evacuated.

Hen and Karen are the only ones we get in a new costume this week.

Lets start with Karen - its an interesting choice - we have her in this navy blue shirt and trousers combo with a brown belt. the top has blue and green Richelieu (cutwork) design on the sleeves and the trousers are also decorated with Richelieu. There are two things at play with this costume choice - the almost entirely navy outfit places her in the same category as Chim, Buck and Eddie. this is very very intentional - Karen mirroring/paralleling them places her in the same position they hold - Karen is meant to be there to show that Hens thought process is flawed and as an outsider to proceedings thats really important for the audience - we need to see that Hen isn't this flawless captain that we've been shown up to this point. The other thing it's designed to do is maintain Hen as separate from everyone else. This visual device helps the script re-enforce things so that when she is then spurred into trying to get hold of Bobby and Athena we are focused on her because of her 'otherness' visually she stands out and we obviously need her to to help drive the narrative forward.

The other thing with Karens costume is the green and blue Richelieu which creates this visual representation of storm clouds swirling and moving in - a subtle reference, not only to Hen's currently cloudy viewpoint on things, but also to the impending storm brewing out in the ocean around the cruise ship. I really love it when they can drop subtle hints like this in set and costuming!

THen we have Hen!

Putting her into her white tee, jeans, green sneakers and this printed silk jacket, and not showing her changing out of her uniform into said outfit while the rest of the firearm are still in uniform helps to separate her from the ‘three Judases’ its a really loud and obvious visual way of separating her from the not only the three boys, but also from the firehouse as a whole. The way the scene is set up helps with this as well -she is on the same side of the bench and room as Chim, Buck and Eddie, until they question her version of events (Eddie is the one to actually ask the question and he is the one dressed differently to Chim and Buck - this isn't about putting him in opposition to them, more just visually signalling that he's the one to ask the important question that we as viewers should be ready for) and then she moves away from them and becomes visually in opposition to them. Its the perfect example of costume, set and direction working in perfect harmony to tell the story visually - we don't actually need to hear whats been said, we can tell it all from the way its shown to us visually.

Hens jacket is a fascinating choice - it plays into a couple of themes we’ve seen in action over the two episodes we’ve had thus far. I did write a little bit about it when we got the first stills of it (which I now cannot find - stupid tumblr search!) but essentially it is a jacket that has various places around California - the golden gate bridge, the redwood trees in Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, etc. as well as the victorian style rose pattern running along the cuffs and edges of the jacket.

The pink roses are a really lovely touch - and one I picked up on specifically because Hen is not a flowery kind of person, so seeing them on her means they are important. Pink roses are generally considered to signify a strong friendship or family bond - something that is ultimately at the heart of matters - the fire family are just that - a family and they might have argument's etc, but they still love each other as a family and will go all out to be there for each other. Its a low key piece of

then we have all that water - do we even need to talk about its meaning?!! Its a literal visual play on the entire them of this arc - water! We all know that water is a really key theme that 911 uses a lot in its storytelling, whether thats big water based events such at the Tsunami or this cruise ship disaster, or smaller low key water theming such as the rain being present at so many of the disasters we see. I'm interested that we now have it appearing on Hen - because it hasn't really been connected to her in many of her personal story arcs (by this I mean arcs such as her deciding and training to be a doctor, Henren's journey through parenthood, the ambulance crash or even Karens lab blowing up last season) so its interesting that we're now seeing her pulled into the water theming in a visual way like this. It is also a play on the two aspects of this episode - there is the loud water theming of the Cruise ship, but there is also the fact Hen has landed in hot water/ deep water.

Hen is also wearing her 'H' necklace, not her 'K' one. This is important because her necklaces tend to be a visual indicator of what her arc is about - the 'H' is worn when it's about her specifically and not her marriage/ family, which is when we tend to see the 'K' heart pendant being worn.

i love the iterators sm they were so fun to scug. i love scugging the iterator. design notes below cut

moon: accidentally gave her a raptor pose oops. anyway. jade-y blue, colorshifted from a more neutral blue - pinkish red markings, colorshifted from a more red. arrows and circles for markings and big ears. deep orange an red poncho with a yellow end, tassels and round brooch and a small extra on her tail because she's a senior and also very cool :]

suns: meant to look sorta like a wise mentor, i'd like to think he's a senior too, which is also why his poncho has tassels. his colors are meant to look sort of like fire with an exception of the deep magenta that was added for contrast and because it looked nice. dark magenta-purple poncho with medium pinks and yellows for accents and a sun brooch matching his head pattern.

pebbles: reddish-pink with a sandy accent color and yellow patterns that are dots + rounded arrows to match moon's because theyr'e siblings. same goes for this poncho with an exception of having no red and lighter oranges + yellows. he has tassels on his to match moon aswell. also angst is hidden below his poncho :] i made it fit neatly under there without editing the lineart

sigs: i love contrasting colors so much oh my god literally THE green/purple combo character. blue-green with yellow as accent and teal-green for patterns. poncho + scarf are more blue-purple than just purple to not contrast too much while the patterns on them are a jade color. the brooch is diamond shaped to match their head pattern.

wind: soft, toned down muted blue-gray colors with an accenting muted pastel orange. streamers on their chin and tail because i didn't get to put wings on them. decently fluffy. no reason. orange poncho with a cloud shaped brooch.

innocence: oops i sparklecatted again. not sure if i like the pose or anatomy for UI it looks a bit too cat-like, the pose made it hard to put the poncho on them. dark, muted blue-purple to a lighter pink-red because we. really don't know alot about them other than (supposedly) their overseer being purple. feather tipped tail and four wings, short feather mane and two feather 'antenna' of sorts. sunset colored poncho and star shaped brooch + star shaped patterns. also the only design i didn't colorshift (other than patterns)

Happy Lockwood & Co. Big Bang!!! :D I had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with @The_Dreamer_Half_Alive (on Ao3 :) on her fic for the @lockwoodandcobigbang2023 event; set post TEG, it’s truly so lovely and heartwarming, and I had so much fun doing a piece for it! We very much hope you enjoy :)

Okay, so I tried to put a bunch of little easter eggs from the fic and just in general in here, so if you’re interested:

Alright, to start off, I was generally very inspired by them getting a record player; I thought it was very sweet, and I loved the idea of them finally getting to relax and hang out in the library (the lack of chairs, I know; I couldn’t figure out how to put them in without blocking people lol) and locklyle dancing, with the record player on in the background, so that’s what I took as the basis of the scene!!

We had discussed that the characters were kind of a combo of both show and book versions, so I tried to add a smattering and hints of both when doing their designs!

The record is, of course, an Ella Fitzgerald record as mentioned in the fic (the record drawn is her Souvenir Album)

Holly is wearing her engagement ring, and wearing shades of pink and cream because that’s what she wears at her wedding (although shifted in hue to better match the color scheme of the piece lol)

Everyone (minus Flo) of course has their white strands of hair (which is *always* one of my favorite details to draw)

Lucy and George bake in the fic, but I think I had just read the Christmas mini story when I was doing my thumbnail for this, so Kipps ended up being the one bringing in baked goods; however, the baking mitts are orange and monogrammed with George's initials because I couldn't let that slip by, could I?

I wasn't quite sure what to put Flo in, because in the books she never takes off her boots or puffer jacket, but I wanted to throw in some sign that she was living at 35 Portland Row and becoming closer to all of them, (and her close relationship with George,) so I let her keep the boots, but traded the puffer jacket in for one of George's plaid shirts :)

The chess game also made it in because of the Christmas short story, lol

Lucy's blue star jacket!! When I read the fic, I was planning from the start to have her wearing the jacket, so of course it made it in :) I wasn't really sure what style it should be, though, so I ended up with kind of an odd mishmash of designs, but I think it turned out working alright!

The sapphire necklace, because, of course

I adore that Lockwood wears his pink socks throughout the entire show (well, most of the time they're the pink ones ;) so I wanted to include them (and then gave Lucy blue ones to match :)

The chipped blue mugs that Lockwood brings to Lucy for her tea after she wakes up from nightmares are on the bookshelf, and I couldn't find a way to directly include the Earl Grey tea they have, but I made the tea bag tags grey in honor of it

The green glow is the ghost lamp outside because if I can find a way to incorporate cool glows in my art, I will (and also on a more narrative-driven note, symbolizing the past danger they've been through and how some of it is definitely still present, but they have each other to heal with and finally be able to have some simple fun with, and are now curled up in the safety and comfort of 35 Portland Row :)

And finally, a big theme of the fic is them healing and building a happy life together, so I just wanted them to all be happy for once, and hence I put in my best efforts to draw them as such :)

Tbh I think most pride flags are kinda… meh. I like the original 8, 6, 7, and the 9 stripe, but that's because it's literally just a rainbow, and it's a nice accent to things. But anything beyond that? Bi flag feels a mess, the purple is dreadful. Pan is too intense, and I don't like that it looks like an ice cream flavour that probably tastes of chemicals. The lesbian and gay pride flags feel too "gendered" with "Pink is for girls, blue for boys" while also just feeling kinda uninspired. The trans flag has a bit of the same issue, and feels like gender reveal flag and almost a bit childish. NB and some of the other trans/not-cis flags just look kinda haphazard. The AroAce flags just look a bit sad, and the toxic green is a meh at best. The intersex flag is also too intense, and while it's nice that a flag doesn't just rely on stripes, the color combo still looks ugly.

I'm def someone who's a bit negative, and I know some ppl really really love them, but all that has always been the reason why I never bother with pride merch outside a 6-stripe rainbow flag I got for free, and a 6-stripe ribbon I also got for free. Only time I can vaguely tolerate the colors is when people do art using the colors, but often they actually adjust the saturation and make the colors work together instead of just forcing together tones that don't wanna fit together.

thank you so much for this fantastic question! 💕 I've talked about this a little before here, but I mostly discussed structural features and when polls break containment, and didn't focus so much on color there, so I shall gladly do so here! 🥰🥰

(put it below the cut bc it got long – oops! 😅)

I mentioned briefly in that previous post that bold colors can either really sink an outfit or really bolster it, and I think that's still true, but I would also now add on that bold color combos specifically often tend to do less well. I think this is true for patterns as well, where something really bold is less likely (in general) to do well than something more subtle

I do also agree that there seems to be a general trend toward cool colors (greens, blues, and purples specifically), especially when paired with a warm color. pinks are fascinating to me because they can really be such a toss-up depending on what they're paired with

of course there are other factors at play here too, and garment structure can be just as important as a deciding factor as color. in fact, many people will mention in the notes that they picked a certain garment because of its shape, but would prefer it in a different color (this post is a great example of that). so that's also something that's really interesting to consider, especially given that the original function of fashion plates was often to show off the structure of the garment, and the buyer would select their own colors/fabric

I also cannot claim to have fully answered this question without mentioning that it seems many of us are truly gothic at heart 🖤🖤 black garments (especially those with black lace) tend to do quite well, especially when paired with non-black garments. in fact, this post is an excellent example of a similar phenomenon, where many folks (including myself) acknowledged that the left dress was gorgeous, but could not resist the gothic appeal of the blood red and black birds on the right

of course, my conclusions here come from my general observations and are not based on any sort of systematic study of the results of the polls, so do take everything I say here with a grain of salt! 😅😅

but if you – or anyone else – has seen any patterns or trends I would love to hear about them!! ☺️🥰

In defence of Frank Churchill - I know he can be a bit of a dick but he does love Jane and makes her happy (eventually). And even though he is mean about her to throw people of the scent it's so obvious that he just wants to talk about her as much as possible because he is obsessed. And yes the piano is impractical but he sacrifices his pride and lets everyone think that he would go all the way to London just for a haircut so he can buy Jane something extravagant. And yes he's an idiot for getting her a massive piano for a tiny house but even though he's a dumb-dumb he's it's still very sweet and I personally would love to be bought a piano. And as much as Jane loves Mrs Bates maybe she's grateful for something that will give her a little break from all her talking while still bringing her pleasure. Also 2009 Frank is fit and has a lovely smile and looks good on a horse! and is not afraid to experiment with colour when it comes to his outfit - the bright green cravat and pink waistcoat combo really works for him (please it's too soon to lose him to a 10 minute Hugh Laurie cameo)

So far it seems 52% of you would rather a grumpy, droll man than one who gives impractical gifts

Don’t know if this has been done before- but-

What I personally think the redacted boys and listeners favorite monster flavor would be.

The boi’s first^^

David: either the regular or the Java monster, I feel like he wouldn’t drink them avidly but he’d drink them if he needed to get something done if he didn’t have enough energy.

Asher: Green or the Fruit juice one. He likes the combo of sweet and sour so usually he’ll pick depending on the mood lol.

Milo: I don’t think they sell them anymore- but monster had a tea brand for a little bit and they weren’t half bad to me personally, so I think he’d like the green tea monster a lot^^ and he definitely was upset when they stopped selling them, so now he just drinks any of the coffee ones.

Sam: Darlin’ had to get him to try one, and it was the white one so once every blue moon he’ll get the white one and drink it.

Vincent: either the Strawberry lemonade one or gold. I am firm on them, and he had a short phase in drinking monster for a little while.

Porter: Gold. No explanation needed.

Gavin: Rosa, he likes it because 1. It’s fucking pink 2. It’s fizzy, I have a personal headcannon that Gavin and Caelum love any carbonated drink because they like the fizz lol.

Damien: he doesn’t drink them. He drinks redbull.

Huxley: the mango one^^ you can never go wrong with a classic, and he sometimes drinks them before going to the gym.

Lasko: Orange, it taste like starbursts to him and he’ll drink it like his life depends on it.

Listeners^^

Angel: Any of the coffee ones, they are a life line for them. When working they always have one on hand, when they are gaming, they always have one on hand, when they are doing chores- THEY ALWAYS HAVE ONE ON HAND.

Baabe: Any of the rehab flavors, or just the regular one, they don’t really drink them unless they need to key in on something important.

Sweetheart: Gold, because it fits their aesthetic✨✨

Darlin: they will drink any flavor as long as it gets the job done.

Lovely: The purple one. They also would make battery acid 100%.

Treasure: The Aussie Lemonade, I don’t know why.

Freelancer: They mostly drink the Strawberry lemonade one as well, but they personally really love ultra black. And they have ordered a pack of them on several occasions they just never last long for them😭

Co-worker: They don’t drink energy drinks😭

I’ve only recently thought of this but I’ve personally never seen anyone do like, a giant naga and a Cervitaur (deer centaur). Just imagine it. Maybe have like a game they play together when both of them are bored is for the naga to chase the Cervitaur. (I always love nagas and I made a cervitaur sona YEARS ago, so perfect combo! Here's a naga trying to bask and a cervitaur bothering him because every character I make is either sad or a menace.

“Lazarus!” They called out, stotting towards the largest predator in the forest. Who was currently basking on a stretch of dark stone that had already melted the first inch or so of snowfall of the season that showed up in the night, making it the warmest spot within a mile probably.

They saw a section of ombre blue coil twitch ever so slightly at their call, the sound of a soft groan joining the small movement. It wasn’t long before a humanoid torso larger than them pushed itself up to blearily look around with green eyes. Cat-like slits narrowed onto them and a gaze that would likely have naturally left many cowering only made their tail wag for a second, slowing to a light trot up to the naga.

A black tongue that faded to pink flicked out of the nagas mouth as he tasted the air briefly, greeting, “Yew.”

“Whatcha doing,” the cervitaur asked rhetorically, knowing that he had been warming up in the morning sun. And, as they jumped up to balance on top of his rather large tail, he read their emotions pretty easily. The tail beneath them twitched slightly to the side to jostle them a bit, making them yelp. The sound elicited a chuckle from the naga.

“Feeling bored, are you?” Lazarus questioned back, tongue flicking out again as he resettled his head back on crossed arms. His coils shifted slowly and carefully to use the tip of his tail to prod at their side. He snorted as they batted it away. “No,” Yew immediately replied on instinct. They paused and fidgeted with their hands a bit as they sheepishly amended, “I mean.. Well, yeah, I’m a bit bored… the first snow has put everything in a sluggish state and I already collected the last of the berries around.”

The naga hummed, tilting his head slightly. “And you're not sluggish as well?”

“No,” they sighed, absentmindedly scraping their hoof on the scales beneath them lightly. “I’m restless and Espen said he was too busy already preparing for winter to make time to hang out.” “He’s more warm-blooded than me.”

“That’s what I said,” Yew huffed, crossing their arms as the duo talked about their ursine friend. “I didn’t really feel like hanging by the side of the river while waiting for him to fill up his fish basket, the river water is freezing today.”

“I imagine,” Lazarus chuckled. He shifted so that he lifted his head from his crossed arms and gently poked at their side with a dark blue claw this time, green eyes glinting in the sunlight. “I’m going to go ahead and guess that you’re probably here to either bother me from my basking with chatter or that you want to play.”

“Well, it sounds childish when you put it like that,” they didn’t flinch from the sharp digit that brushed against their furry-halfs ribs, simply huffing and giving him a disgruntled pout that probably just proved his point. “But, yes, I was hoping to do something together.”

The naga actually laughed slightly at their response and pulled his hand back. With a small grunt of effort he pushed himself off the stone to take the weight off his arms, reaching out and scooping up his smaller companion in his claws off of his tail.

Yew didn’t squirm or struggle as the claws closed in and folded their legs beneath them to make it easier for him to hold them in his palms that didn’t involve them struggling with balance. They waited patiently the few seconds it took for him to lower his hands from his tail level and tilt his hands down, letting themself slide off his hands slightly before getting up and hopping down, hooves clattering a bit on the stone as they landed.

“How about a chase then, hmm?” Lazarus asked, reaching up and stretching his arms over his head as the cervitaur turned back to face him. “Burn that energy out of your system.”

“Yes!” Yew jumped slightly in place, excited at the thought of a game so much that their tail wagged again. They knew that he could catch them easily with a powerful burst from his tail, but they also knew that he enjoyed these sorts of games as well. They hopped from hoof to hoof giddily, asking, “Five seconds, like usual?”

“Sounds good to me,” the naga finished stretching. A few audible pops and cracks made Yew’s ears twitch as he rolled his shoulders, looking down with mischievous eyes. “Run.”

Yew happily pranced in place for a moment before whirling around and bolting into the trees. They didn’t hear Lazarus count down and he didn’t need to, they were already counting down in their head. And, as they mentally went from one to zero, they heard the distant shift of scales against stone and the exclamation of ‘Here I come!’.

They couldn't help but glance behind them, letting out a yelp that was the result of instinctive panic at seeing a giant naga slithering towards them and playful giddiness that made the end turn into a bit of a laugh.

For over half an hour Yew was chased by Lazarus. They leapt over fallen trees and rocks that his powerful tail easily crushed or swept aside if he didn't feel like slithering around them. He'd occasionally block them with his tail, but they'd either leap over it or flip around to run in the opposite direction. They felt the rush of wind sometimes as he playfully missed grabbing at them. It was only when their pace flagged noticeably that he decided that the game had gone on long enough.

“Getting tired?” Lazarus asked, slithering around to block the cervitaurs current trajectory.

“Not at all,” Yew replied, lying through their teeth. They reared back as a wall of scales shifted in front of them, too close to even try jumping over. Sides heaving, they glowered at their larger friend, wheeling around to start bolting in the opposite direction. But another coil of his massive tail was already there to block them off. Indignant at being corralled they grumpily exclaimed, “Hey! You’re not playing fair!”

“And you’re lying,” the naga hummed as he shifted his coils enough to gently curl around the cervitaur. Yew let out a disappointed groan as the walls of scale around them easily shifted their small form and coiled around them, the cool scales feeling like a relief against them after the running roundabout they’d just had, even as they were lifted up to the nagas awaiting hands. As the coils loosened and his claws scooped them up again, they crossed their arms over their chest. “Even if I am lying, it’s still not fair.”

“Think of it as repayment for interrupting my bask,” Lazarus’s tongue flicked out, everything shifting as he started to slither back to the dark stone from earlier.

“Yeah, yeah.”

The duo hadn’t really wandered off incredibly far and it didn’t take much time for him to take them from slightly snow covered grass and dripping trees back onto the warmer stone clearing he’d been laying in earlier.
