I Am Once Again thinking about the X-Files season 4 episode 12 Leonard Betts
#the thing is i really just like it because of the writing#it's SO well written#like yes this is all meant to foreshadow but it's also one of the most memorable MOTW stories in my mind just for concept#and execution#like... it is simply so well done?? the whole plot is just so interesting and compelling#and the vibes are just so... almost light?? it almost feels like a regular romp#but there's a slight tension that becomes this MASSIVE tonal shift at the end#like in animated stuff when it's a bright happy scene with birds singing and cheerful music and suddenly everything is darker#and the music comes to a screeching halt like a bunch of offkey piano notes#that's what the total shift of LB feels like and I'm SO here for it#it's such a normal episode until it's NOT until the whole thing screeches to a halt and you Realize.#and the way that's pulled off is MASTERFUL i will never be over how well-written the episode is#i haven't even started my cancer arc rewatch yet but I'm thinking about this tonight shdjdjdksnwj#Lu rambles#txf#the x files#txf s4#cancer arc my beloved
