“Woo made me do it,” Seonghwa laughs as you settle into the office for a new day. You hadn’t expected to get all of their phone numbers on the first night, but they clearly liked you enough to consider you a friend.

“Hey! I know when someone’s cool, and she definitely passes the test,” Wooyoung replies to your left. He had been here when you walked in, but clearly hadn’t even turned on his computer until five seconds ago.

“That’s true, you’re really funny y/n,” Seonghwa remarks before walking off to his own desk, “but you can also use it to ask us for help with anything!” Your mind thinks through the first hour of the group chat last night, short introductions turned friendly jabs turned sending memes. You’re actually a bit scared at how quickly they’ve accepted you, but if you dwell on it too long it’ll ruin your day.

“Ah, I do need to meet with Yeosang,” you remember, mumbling mostly to yourself.

“He’ll be up soon, he just takes his time getting his own desk and cup of tea in order,” Wooyoung soothes nerves you didn’t even realize you had. His tone was different, too, and when you look over you see him in full work mode. You’re grateful that he won’t be overbearing while you get into the groove of things.

As Wooyoung promised, Yeosang made his way to your office a few minutes later. After greeting people at the door, he picks up a spare stool and sits down next to you. “Good morning, y/n,” he hums. He balances his laptop on his legs and gets to work logging in. You notice he’s a bit stiff, and he didn’t talk much at lunch or in the chat yesterday, but he doesn’t feel unfriendly. He probably just takes a while to warm up to people, which you understand. “You’ve gotten your Dasoft email already, correct?”

“Oh, yes I just need to log in on this computer,” you refocus on the task at hand. Yeosang said the onboarding process would be kind of long, but simple, so you knew he’d be here for a while. Every time he falls silent to confirm something on his laptop, you can’t help but stare at him. He wore a beige sweater vest today, and even though his hair is quite long, a few strands fall past his ears when he looks down at the screen. He’s such a calm and quiet energy that you find familiar and comforting.

“Someone has a crush,” Woo giggles next to you. You shoot him a confused look before turning back to Yeosang and realizing he has an expectant look on his face. It’s clear he’s waiting for an answer to a question you didn’t hear, and your coworker’s snarky comment makes you both blush ear to ear.

“I know it’s really boring but we’re almost done,” Yeosang recovers. “I just need to check if you have the right software installed, so if you could log back in…” he gestures to your sleeping desktop and you quickly typed in your password again. You know if you speak your voice will betray you so you stay silent for the rest of the process, mortified at Wooyoung’s sudden jab.

One hour and a handful of embarrassing exchanges later, Yeosang is finally done setting up your tech. Before you can properly thank him, Wooyoung jumps out of his seat and stretches. “I’ve been working so hard all morning y/n, do you wanna head up to the meeting room early?” You glance over at his screen and a paused game of Tetris stares back at you.

“Working so hard on a new high score?” Yeosang noticed too, not missing a chance to put his best friend in his place. You had learned at lunch yesterday that although all of them were close, Yeosang and Wooyoung knew each other in high school. Mingi and Yunho were also best friends, knowing each other for even longer. No one in the group seemed to be upset at the dynamic though, and you mentally cringe at the fact that your friends would’ve made something like that a problem.

“Alright, alright,” your coworker threw his hands up, “say it louder so Seonghwa can hear!” Yeosang just smiles, proud of his ability to ruffle Wooyoung’s feathers for once.

“Are you also coming to the meeting, Yeo?” you ask, trying to lighten the mood between you two. You can tell he’s easily the most reserved of the group and you don’t want him to think you have a crush on him on the second day.

“I was gonna take a short break,” he shakes his head, “but I can walk you there. Wouldn’t wanna leave you alone with that troublemaker.”

“I’m literally y/n’s favorite, but okay,” Wooyoung huffs before making his way to the exit. You follow suit, picking up your water bottle and a notebook.

It only takes a few minutes to walk to the fourth floor meeting room, but someone already beat you to it. You walk through the doors while talking to Wooyoung, blissfully unaware of the way Yunho’s standing there, and you slam face-first into his chest. He instantly grabs your forearms so that you don’t lose balance, but you pull away and smooth yourself out, cheeks running red hot.

“Well good morning to you too!” Yunho chuckles, only making you blush more. You don’t catch the way his ears are redder than you could ever be.

“My bad, Woo was just distracting me so much,” you try to play it off, and it works because all three men laugh. More people start to file in and you wave a quick goodbye to Yeosang before making your way to the long table in the center of the room.

“Here, y/n,” Yunho pats a seat next to him, “Wooyoung, come sit next to her.”

“Oh, my pleasure!” Wooyoung wiggles his eyebrows and slots into the seat to your right. You can’t tell if they did it on purpose, but you’re relieved you won’t have to sit next to anyone new. One last person walks in and everyone quickly gets up to greet him. You follow suit, putting together that he’s the highest up employee here, if not the CEO himself.

When you sit back down, Yunho’s hand lands on top of yours, giving you a quick squeeze before resting both his hands on his laptop. His hand is noticeably bigger than yours, not because you’re that small but because he’s just that big. His fingers are slender and pretty, two rings adorning them. The way they move across his keyboard is entrancing and for a moment you entertain the idea of how they’d feel laced between yours. You start to feel heat creep up your cheeks again, and you shove those feelings to the side to focus on the meeting.

“That wasn’t too much, was it?” Seonghwa rests a hand on your shoulder as you walk towards the elevators.

“No, not at all,” you replied. To be honest, it was no different than a class lecture gearing up for a new assignment. The company moved fast and you already had some deadlines, but it wasn’t any worse than school could be. You didn’t want to let him on to that, though, for fear of more work being piled on your desk.

“Good! In that case, we can go on lunch break now. There’s not much else to handle today,” the elevator doors close behind you and he presses 1.

“Is anyone else coming with us today? Same place?”

“I think Jongho and Hongjoong are still stuck in meetings, but the rest of them will meet us,” Seonghwa replies, checking his phone for an answer to your second question, “and the weather is nice out today, so I think we’re gonna check out this new cafe.” He hands over his phone so you can see for yourself. It’s a cute little shop with outdoor seating, and the menu has some things you like. You pass it back over, smiling. “Someday, we’ll have to show you all our favorite spots to hang out,” Seonghwa smiles back, and that fluttering feeling of acceptance you felt yesterday comes back.

Yeosang is already seated at two conjoined tables. You and Seonghwa are the first to arrive after him, and he can’t hide the relief on his face as he waves at you, “Someone else finally showed up.”

“Too scared to order for yourself huh?” Seonghwa teases. You both sit down and scan the menu qr code decorating a box of napkins. A few minutes later the rest of the boys show up and sit down and before you know it you’re all eating and laughing again.

You don’t miss the way Yunho picks the seat across from you. You don’t miss a single thing he does, in fact, his position puts him in your natural line of sight. You don’t mean to stare at his long fingers, the bracelets that slide up his forearms, his pronounced collarbone peeking from behind his polo, his defined cupid’s bow, his crooked smile, his round cheeks, the way his whole body shakes with laughter, his soft eyes that are desperately trying to look anywhere but at you.

Fuck.

You tap back into the conversation before you can be pulled deeper into your thoughts, “hey Hwa, what did you say about showing me around the city sometime?” Maybe getting closer with the others would help you come back to your senses.

“Oh yeah,” he takes a sip of his lemonade, “I thought it would be cool if we showed you around our favorite places. You’re only here for so long and work will ramp up soon, so you should get out of the office.” The table nods in agreement, eager to show off their town.

“We definitely need to take you to some more impressive restaurants,” San replies, half-joking. Wooyoung doesn’t even bother finishing his mouthful of food before suggesting you go clubbing with him. Yeosang slaps him on the head, suggesting maybe we go to a museum or something. Mingi throws out the idea of a movie night instead, but you sense he’s just defending his homebody nature. You look back at Yunho and he’s grinning, waiting for his turn to speak.

“Do you like parks, y/n?” he offers. The group immediately approves of the idea and it seems like they have a specific place in mind. Your plan backfires because you like his suggestion the most.

“When the weather’s bearable,” you respond a little too excitedly, “which I think it will be tomorrow.” His grin turns into a full smile and his eyes light up. Wooyoung starts chuckling and you can’t tell why.

“Tomorrow? Maybe you can take her then Yunho,” Seonghwa smirks, “since you came up with it and the rest of us will probably be busy.” The energy has shifted in mere seconds and you feel like you’re missing out on some inside joke they have. Does Yunho secretly hate parks? Is tomorrow a funny date for some reason? Are they gonna lead you into a city you barely know and then abandon you?

Yunho’s voice cuts through the fog of irrational anxiety, “is that cool with you y/n?” You look up to meet his eyes, and this time he’s staring back at you fondly. You nod, you can’t trust your voice or the way Wooyoung looks ready to make fun of you. “Good, I’ll meet you up in Marketing after I’m done tomorrow,” he visibly relaxes, returning to the sandwich in front of him.

“It’s okay, y/n, we can go clubbing another time. I know you want to,” Wooyoung pokes your forearm, and the conversation goes back to normal.

You finally make it to your bed and take a deep breath. The past 48 hours have somehow felt like a month, and you can’t help but overthink every interaction you’ve had. You swore to yourself you wouldn’t even think about dating anyone while in Seoul because you knew it would end terribly. Yet here you are, the idea of Yunho holding you close and pressing soft kisses to your forehead clouding your brain.

You barely know him, you try to level with yourself, and you find all of them attractive. It’s just an objective fact and you’ll get used to it. Your brain isn’t very convincing, and memories from last year start rearing their ugly heads. You feel so safe and accepted by them already, which is more than you could’ve ever imagined from this internship. If you could just keep yourself in check for two fucking seconds, maybe you could make some good connections here. You can’t let your heart fuck everything up again, and you know it’ll take everything in you to stick to that.

This dude is likely loaded (based on working for Dethklok and being successful prior judging by the newspapers at the end of episode 2) so he's not afraid to drop some cash for you

As for receiving gifts he doesn't hold you to the same standard regardless of your income but he would be thrilled with anything you give him, I feel like hes a jewelry guy but maybe that's just because I like drawing him with rings

You guys may butt heads but you guys probably wouldn't argue too much outside of the basic disagreements that happen in every relationship!! Usually apologies for lashing out (if he does that in that particular argument) but will refuse to apologize if there's an actual problem that needs to be addressed (if said problem is on your end)

Join in the Slime By: Symphopan [Recording Start]

Pan: Ok it's on. *Ahem* So this is Pan documenting Incident: 0508. Class: Crystal grab. Subject is Ms. Tess Ashton, previously Ted Ashton.

Tess: Come on! Let me out please.

Pan: Beginning report. About 3 weeks ago, I detected a high reality surge from one of the worlds. After tracking it, I discovered that a Reality Crystal had been uncovered but had been used. So I went down there to see what happened. That's when I ran into Ted and a group of his friends.

Tess: I know you can hear me.

Pan: *Sigh* The Group had found it by pure happenstance. They didn’t really seem to know what they had in their possession. After a bit one of them did figure out what it could do after accidentally blasting a wall. They then took turns seeing what else the Crystal could do, some changed into animal hybrids, others gave themselves “cool” magic weapons or powers. That’s when I’d decided to step in.

Tess: Don’t you wanna be like them.

Pan: They regained composer form seeing a bipedal talking panda, but they refused to give up the Crystal. Before I could just take it, they gave the Crystal to Ted, stood in front of him, and got ready to fight me. Not wanting to overdo it on some people having fun, began to take them down one by one. Once it was just Ted left, they asked him to do something. And from here it is best if you hear it from her.

Tess: Why don’t become slime, I’m sure you’ll like it.

Pan: Please. If you’ll just give your statement. The Quicker we get through this, the sooner you and Cam can be together.

Tess: OH! Ok where do I start?

Pan: When you first use the Crystal.

Tess: Well when everyone was asking for my help, the Crystal started glowing. I looked into it and saw a glimpse of the powers I could have. I did what they had done and focused on the crystal. Once I closed my eyes and opened them again, I was greeted by a void. I could hear a voice around me, it sounded like mine but higher pitched, and more feminine. It was saying things like, “I know what you crave. What power you want. Are you not tired of being so passive? Don’t you want to be noticed by all, by him.” And it was right. I did.

Pan: That all lines up with what normally happens during some Reality Awakenings. The void, voice, even the promise of power.

Tess: Is that what you call it? Well after trying to find the voice, I turned to face a girl made completely out of what looked like slime. She smiled at me before holding her hand out. When I took it she quickly covered me. After then my vision went dark and when it came back I saw you before being overtaken by a lot of energy. Slowly I started to change. My skin became smoother, my thighs widened and hips pinched inward. Looking at my hands, they started to become daintier and lost a couple of inches of my high. My chest starts to grow out close to a D cup I believe. Then everything felt really weird. I felt very gooey and like everything was moving at all times. The feeling was odd at first but then I began to LOVE it. And wasn’t just the gooey feeling but finally being a girl. Some much was going through my head, happiness, excitement, and the need to share this feeling with others. *Slamming Noise* Much like you.

Pan: *Exasperated Sigh* I’m not letting you out Tess.

Tess: You're already halfway there being part paint yourself, just let me finish you off. Aw come back please. I was just spreading the love.…

(Tess’ voice fades out)

Pan: Tess’ Awakening wasn’t the usual balance of aura color, which was pink and blue, and the black and white that all others have. In her case the white overtook a good 70% of her aura of blue and pink. She became an Flux, an Ascendant one at that. While I don’t think she is as bad as other Flux cases, on either side, she did manage to convert her friend and 60% of her home reality. So I put the world under quarantine, as it seems like they work on some type of hive mind. I currently have Galaxy working on something to break her connection and lessen her need to convert others. Hopefully after that we can convince her to stop, with help from Cam. For now she’ll remain here, though I will say she does seem happier now that she’s like that.

(Door opens)

Robo: (from a distance) Hey Melody… Oh sorry didn’t know you were Pan right now.

Pan: It’s fine. What’s up?

Robo: I need you to come see this.

(Door Closes)

Pan: Well I should see what that is. Report over. [Recording ends]

The System Shock remake is still a great time. Found a bunch of new upgrades and toys to fool around with including a magnum and an SMG. Got my first inventory upgrade about 16hrs in and man, I was about ready to accept working with only two or three weapons. I've pretty much abandoned all melee weapons now as I've got a pretty good income of ammo now. A little sad about that because the laser rapier is such a cool-looking weapon however, melee builds in games just typically aren't my thing. I'm still favoring the pistol and energy pistol still, despite having the shotgun and SMG now. I'm sure that'll change after a few upgrades and whenever I get ahold of the assault rifle.

The balancing in this is so fine tuned, it's insane and it leads into some real close encounters. Your energy pistol, for example, has a charge toggle for low, high, and overcharged. Useful for damage output but is also great tight spots. Overcharged shots will usually cause robotic enemies to explode, creating an improvised AOE type attack but can scatter and (at least, I feel like) potentially lose the loot gained from them - a great tradeoff if your health isn't the best. Low and high charges are best for small and medium sized enemies, respectfully, but usually take a few more shots to stop them in their tracks. Using the right charge on the right enemy makes looting easier.

Lots of new enemies lately, things are definitely getting tougher. Flying mutants, some sort of mutant tiger (that caught me very much by surprise), some very heavy-duty cyborgs and robots. There were a couple rooms I entered where a trap was planned for me and I barely made it out. It's not always as easy as completing a small platforming puzzle, the game really teaches you to be on your guard at all times.

I think the only big criticism is the VR-like flying/hacking minigames that are used to unlock some doors. They're a bit of a pain to play through and its combat isn't as fluid as the main game. I'd rather my "flying vr hacking program" be a hitscan type attack than a projectile one - they always feel slow and unresponsive. Like am I actually doing damage to this thing or did I miss it? They're not very frequent, maybe one per every other level to the station, but as soon as I encounter one I'm like "Great..."

Being able to free roam with some basic idea of an objective is refreshing too. I don't mind the "Here's what you need to do" cursor usually but the lack of one here gives me a sense to not rush my exploration.

Highly recommend this for all you BioShock/Deus Ex/Prey-heads out there. This is fantastic still.

Letting the Cat Out of the Bag

Synopsis: What is type of pet would each Twisted Wonderland Character have?

A/N: Just trying to get some traction for the blog! I plan to make a version of this for all Dorms. Savanaclaw Vers. Octavinelle Vers.

Riddle Rosehearts

We all know he’d have a hedgehog

So there are many places where hedgehogs are actually illegal, so in that instance, he’d probably like the company of a rabbit.

Now, this isn’t me being biased for my love of rabbits, but hear me out. Rabbits can be very similar to hedgehogs as pets.

Hedgehogs have a specific nutritional diet to adhere to, which can also be said for Rabbits as well. Riddle, being very detail-oriented, would have no trouble accommodating a rabbit’s strict diet. They would need a good balance of healthy greens while also always having a bundle of hay on hand. They can have the occasional strawberry, but not too much!

They both can be quieter pets. Hedgehogs are definitely quieter but rabbits don’t normally make many sounds that come from their tiny bodies. They do, however, tend to chew and scratch at stuff, which can be loud, and when rabbit thumps their hind leg, oof can it be loud! Riddle would appreciate having a quieter roommate so he can focus on his homework or housewarden duties during the day.

Rabbits and Hedgehogs are actually quite active animals. They both need a lot of room to run around and get some exercise. During Riddle’s downtime, he’d enjoy having an active role while interacting with his pet, similar to how he enjoys equestrian as a sport. Equestrian requires trust and cooperation as well as a strong bond with the horse. Since Riddle has a soft spot for sensitive animals, he’d enjoy playing with a cute bundle of energy.

Ace Trappolla

To be honest, I don’t see him seeking an animal companion on his own.

However, I think he’d want to have a pet with extreme intelligence that could be taught different tricks on his free time.

A medium-sized to big-sized dog breed that could be easily trained would be a good fit. Something like a Border Collie or a German Shepard

He’d teach the dog to recognize different cards and incorporate it into his slight of hand tricks so that he can surprise people with some sick card skills. Like, imagine Ace revealing the card you chose was actually in his dog’s mouth!

He would also most likely teach the dog tricks to make his life easier/more conviennent. Like opening doors when his hands are full, or grabbing a drink from the fridge when he’s busy studying playing some kind of game.

Overall he’d enjoy being able to bond with a dog while teaching them many things to do that’ll be incorporated in his daily life. His original intention is to get the dog to do free labor, but in the end, he’d end up loving and coddling the dog to the point where he might end up doing more for the dog than the dog doing something for him.

Deuce Spade

Chickens

Deuce would most likely want some sort of cool looking animal. Actually when I think about it, the appeal of a cool dog riding shotgun in his magic wheel is a high possibility too.

Imagine it: Deuce getting a dog with cute cool googles on inside a passager car for his magic wheel. This dog would totally have a jean vest on too (as a call back to his delinquent days).

Since Deuce is quite athletic, he’d enjoy having a running companion or do some sort of physical activity with the dog. Something like frisbee would be a fun activity with the pup.

Huskies are athletic dogs that aren’t the brightest bulb in the pack, just like our adorable boy. They’re perfect, c’mon

Deuce would enjoy the companionship of a dog as well. Being raised by a single mother while also being a delinquent in the past most likely made him feel quite lonely and an outcast at times. However, even though he’s in a better place, he’d feel relieved to know he has a buddy to play or snuggle with when times get a little rough.

Cater Diamond

My first thought was that Cater would definitely spam Magicam with all sorts of pictures of his pet. So this animal HAS to be photogenic to some degree.

However, I think the it would need to be a cool pet rather than a cute one since his sisters would probably judge it on the cute factor? He already dislikes being around them anyways so he wouldn’t want a cute pet to appease them anyways.

Also I feel like a requirement is an animal that would give him and only him attention that wouldn’t easily be swayed by his sisters. He needs TLC for himself, you know?

Akita’s are a dog breed that would be perfect. They are very loyal and lovable to their owners, but quite aloof to strangers.

While they do tend to be bigger dogs, I can still imagine Cater dressing the dog up in a cool vest and sunglasses while he wears a similar or matching set and posting it on magicam

They’re also an intelligent breed that could probably learn to skateboard along with Cater! Who wouldn’t want a skateboarding pup? Also imagine the wicked picture he could get while skateboarding with his best bud!

Overall an Akita would be a dog to give him the love and attention he needs, while also having a pup who will be able to skateboard and dance with in his spare time.

Trey Clover

Trey, being so reliable, would be able to take care of any animal he wanted, but I feel like he needs a break, you know? Like a low maintenance animal he could enjoy the company of when things get a little chaotic at the Heartslabuyl dorm.

Despite the irony of Floyd calling him Sea Turtle, Trey would probably enjoy having a pet Tortoise.

He can watch his buddy chill and chomp on some veggies or fruit when he winds down for the night. It’s basically a stress reliever, especially when it rushes out of its den super fast for some yummy treats. They say tortoises are slow, but have you seen one go for it’s favorite treats? They can be surprisingly speedy.

He could give his pet any leftover fruit scraps he might not use for his desserts (no waste yay!) while also saving some extra morsels for it to snack on later.

Causing Small Static Sounds With The Radio (And Possible Hirsutism...) Part 2

I think that, it might be possible that I might have Hirsutism, I'm not sure if I can fully trust the doctors to give me the truth.

I mean it sucks when doctors think they know all about seizures but clearly that don't, and don't understand that not every one can be solved by that medicine stuff...only some seizures will need that type of medicine, but not those that are energy based that is caused by both people and a place.

I think it might be possible that my Mom might of had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but I'm not 100% sure about that...

I know that not long after she had me, she had a really bad time of the month, and she had to get help because how bad it was, and she had to have a Ovary removed...

I know it is different from when I had a bad time of the month as well, but it might not of been as close as being as bad as her own.

I was still not 100% sure if I was Intersex or not (even though I believe I might be...), and I don't know if I can trust the doctors to give me the truth about it... at least, not the ones I have seen before....but maybe some doctors will be different, like maybe to talk to them about it.....maybe...?

but I know that my "time of the month" has been Irregular, even in High School, and while it does seem I do have days when it isn't irregular, it still ends up being Irregular.

so it might be possible that it could be linked to the info that has to do with what I had read up on, which for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia... one of the signs for it, is Menstrual Irregularity and I think it does seem to match...even if I know it might be possible I could still have a bit of Hirsutism.

but I think thanks to the whole info that I read, as well as my experiencing Irregular time of the month, I think I might actually be Intersex.

I don't think I mind being Intersex, but maybe there can be a way to balance out everything.

even if I’m not really sure about the Hirsutism now, even if I know it might be possible I could have it, but I’m now fully convinced that my suspicions about being Intersex, might actually be correct.

it might be possible that Jesus had a younger twin sister, even if my pendulum did give a "Yes" reply to the question,

but like I pointed out before, at times my pendulum does pull pranks...but I will believe it can be possibly true.

which would mean that Jesus didn't just have half-siblings, it might be possible that him having a younger twin sister, who would be his baby sister, could of been kept secret.

well, there is a lot of things that the patriarchy perhaps kept secret for who knows how many centuries until it was brought into the light.

not everyone has to agree about that, and I might of pointed this out before, that if some are gonna believe it, they will have to do so by their own free will and not be force to convert into it.

while Jesus is still technically family, because he is suppose to be a descendant of King David, but as for him being a Ancestor, that might not be the case.

for all we know, it could of been his possible younger twin sister, who had descendants, also I was curious about the whole thought if he had a twin sister.

so I had to look it up and found out there was some info that had talk about him having a younger twin sister, I think it was more of a theoretical talk.

but if it does turn out to be fact, you know it being kept secret and us in the dark about it, might have to do with the corrupted patriarchy back then...

there needs to be a balance between the patriarchy and matriarchy.

I think it might be possible that the doctors who normally see me, and the ones who check my blood, are likely to know that I’m Intersex, but don’t even freaking bother to tell me, well they don’t seem to know everything about energy based seizures, while some actually do need the medicine, some just need to be kept safe from the places and people that might trigger them.

which just in case, I don’t want to go back to the towns I use to live at before,

I want to play it safe, and if I had to go back there, even if it is just for a visit.

I should try to wear as much gems as I can to protect myself.

well at least it isn’t fully like his abilities, and I’m fine with that.

and I think besides myself, there has been others who were confused about if they are Intersex or not, but weren’t fully sure about it, but still suspected it might be true.

so some form of research has to be done to see if they match some of the signs of being Intersex, even if it is only half of the signs but might still confirm that ya are in fact Intersex, and you are one of the different types of Intersex.

anyway, when I can, I think I will change my Tumblr Avatar a bit, like keep it as Decepticon, but mix it with a Nonbinary-Girl, Intersex, and Aroaceflux Flags.

will have to try to make them the right size so it will show all of them in the Avatar. anyway thanks to confirming about the whole irregular thing, I think it does confirm that I was right to suspect that I’m Intersex, well one of the types.

maybe the freaky thing with the radio, could have to do with my blood type...

I will think over if I should use gems to make sure it doesn’t become like where I can change the station by just wiggling my fingers, but then again maybe I don’t have to, so far it isn’t too bad and it only seems to happen once in a while.

so I don’t think I have to worry about the thing with the Radio, too much and it is just okay as it is now, and I can just check if it acts freaky once in a while.

A Will Solace Character Analysis: the Underappreciated Soft Side

I've noticed many fanfictions have Will Solace OOC. So I’ve been thinking about aspects of Will’s personality fans seem to either gloss over or exaggerate. Here, this post is me doing an in-depth analysis explaining Will Solace’s canon personality in the books, and how it can sometimes differ from fanfictions. Sprinkled in this analysis are tips to fanfiction writers on how they write Will as more in-character.

There is one major aspect of Will that people seem to ignore or underemphasize. Nico best explains it when describing Will in this quote

Jason was a fighter. You could tell from the intensity of his stare, his constant alertness, the coiled-up energy in his frame. Will Solace was more like a lanky cat stretched out in sunshine. His movements were relaxed and nonthreatening, his gaze soft and far away. In his faded SURF BARBADOS T-shirt, his cutoff shorts and flip-flops, he looked about as aggressive as a demigod could get, but Nico knew he was brave under fire. During the Battle of Manhattan, Nico had seen him in action - the camp's best combat medic, risking his life to save wounded campers.

To sum it up, Will Solace is a very chill and calm character. A lot of writers make Will more irrational, impulsive, overbearing, and emotional than he actually is. Will is not the type of character to create drama unless he's, as Nico puts it, "under fire." In other words, the intense side of his personality doesn't come out unless the situation is urgent or dire.

Fans remember during the Second Giant War how he gets angry and argues with Nico over Nico's health and shadow-traveling, so many assume Will is going to be this fiery over a lot of other things regarding their relationship. For example, fanfic writers may make Will controlling or overly sensitive with Nico. However, keep in mind, Will gets heated with Nico during the Second Giant War because Nico's shadow-traveling is killing him. This is how Will describes Nico's dire state.

"Coach Hedge told me all about your shadow-travel. You can’t try that again."

"I just did try it again, Solace. I’m fine."

"No, you’re not. I’m a healer. I could feel the darkness in your hand as soon as I touched it. Even if you made it to that tent, you’d be in no shape to fight. But you wouldn’t make it. One more slip, and you won’t come back. You are not shadow-travelling. Doctor’s orders."

Will is a healer. When he touches Nico's hand, he can sense how little sleep and food Nico has been getting and how Nico's being taken over by darkness. Nico is on the verge of death and hasn't cared about his health for a long time. Nico is also stubborn about it, so Will has to be aggressive in order to save Nico's life. This aggressive behavior is not the norm for Will, but it can sometimes come out when he has to assert control in a life-or-death situation.

Will is a calming prescence. He's a diplomat. He stops violence on multiple occassions.

He's one of the few people who's able to calm Clarisse's violent rage, and he does so in a gentle manner.

Clarisse pointed her dagger at Rachel. "What about their allies, huh? Did you see that tribe of two-headed men that arrived yesterday? Or the glowing red dog-headed guys with the big poleaxes? They look pretty barbaric to me. It would’ve been nice if you’d foreseen any of that, if your Oracle power didn’t break down when we needed it most!"

Rachel’s face turned as red as her hair. "That’s hardly my fault. Something is wrong with Apollo’s gifts of prophecy. If I knew how to fix it –"

"She’s right." Will Solace, head counsellor for the Apollo cabin, put his hand gently on Clarisse’s wrist. Not many campers could’ve done that without getting stabbed, but Will had a way of defusing people’s anger. He got her to lower her dagger. "Everyone in our cabin has been affected. It’s not just Rachel."

One of the most underrated Will Solace moments is when he stops a bloody battle from happening between Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter.

But he knew it wouldn’t do any good. After weeks of waiting, agonizing and steaming, the Greeks and Romans wanted blood. Trying to stop the battle now would be like trying to push back a flood after the dam broke.

Will Solace saved the day.

He put his fingers in his mouth and did a taxicab whistle even more horrible than the last. Several Greeks dropped their swords. A ripple went through the Roman line like the entire First Cohort was shuddering.

"DON’T BE STUPID!" Will yelled. "LOOK!"

People are so used to seeing demigods, especially male demigods, being aggressive fighters that they can't wrap their heads around a brave and strong demigod who actively tries to avoid unnecessary conflict and destruction as much as he can.

And that's Will Solace's strength: he has the ability to prevent as much harm as possible.

Will is a difficult character to write. There's a lot of dueling factors with his personality. He's calm and pacifying while also being brave and assertive. He's fun and lighthearted while also being intelligent, logical, and grounded. He's laidback while also being responsible and hardworking. He's insecure but not melodramatic. He's very caring and protective but not pushy.

Will's personality confuses Nico sometimes too.

He’d always thought of Will as easygoing and laid back. Apparently he could also be stubborn and aggravating.

The trick to writing Will is to keep in mind his default personality is a soft and lighthearted character. Writers tend to overemphasize the hard side of his personality when his default personality is actually the soft side.

Think of the relaxing, lanky cat metaphor Nico uses for him. He and Nico bicker often, and it works for Will because he rolls with everything and doesn't take things too seriously. He's able to alleviate Nico's moodiness with humor, wittiness, groundedness, and patience. Nico affectionately calls Will a "dork" because Will usually keeps things light. Interestingly enough, he's able to be lighthearted without coming across as insensitive or an airheaded goofball, the latter of which is something Nico dislikes about Percy's personality. On a related sidenote, another way writers make Will OOC is they make him too dumb or too immature. I know I mentioned to focus on Will's soft side, but be careful to avoid that too. He's a SENSIBLE, lanky cat.

The way Will keeps his composure during a stressful situation by using laughter while still being mature is expressed well in this exchange with Apollo. (Yes, Will has a lot to manage.)

It was difficult to think of this young man as my son. He was so poised, so unassuming, so free of acne. He also didn’t appear to be awestruck in my presence. In fact, the corner of his mouth had started twitching.

“Are—are you amused?” I demanded.

Will shrugged. “Well, it’s either find this funny or freak out. My dad, the god Apollo, is a fifteen-year-old—”

“Sixteen,” I corrected. “Let’s go with sixteen.”

“A sixteen-year-old mortal, lying in a cot in my cabin, and with all my healing arts—which I got from you—I still can’t figure out how to fix you.”

“There is no fixing this,” I said miserably. “I am cast out of Olympus. My fate is tied to a girl named Meg. It could not be worse!”

Will laughed, which I thought took a great deal of gall. “Meg seems cool. She’s already poked Connor Stoll in the eyes and kicked Sherman Yang in the crotch.”

The fiercer side of Will's personality comes out only when the situation calls for it; this happens sometimes when he has to be a caring family member, a responsible healer, or a warrior in a dire situation. Even when he gets more forceful, he doesn't get more forceful than he has to.

Since Will has such a balanced and lighthearted personality, what are his flaws? What are the dark sides of his personality? There are four main things that stick out.

1. He's insecure about his self-perceived lack of abilities.

"I agree," Will said. "I wish I was a better archer … I wouldn’t mind shooting my Roman relative off his high horse. Actually, I wish I could use any of my father’s gifts to stop this war." He looked down at his own hands with distaste. "Unfortunately, I’m just a healer."

2. He sometimes struggles to endure the heavy responsibilities he has as a healer and as a protector to his family.

“I got it reattached,” Will told me, his voice shaky with exhaustion. His scrubs were speckled with blood. “I need somebody to keep him stable.”

I pointed to the woods. “But—”

“I know!” Will snapped. “Don’t you think I want to be out there searching too? We’re shorthanded for healers. There’s some salve and nectar in that pack. Go!”

I was stunned by his tone. I realized he was just as concerned about Kayla and Austin as I was. The only difference: Will knew his duty. He had to heal the injured first. And he needed my help.

3. He forces himself to bottle his emotions to keep his composure.

Will laughed under his breath. “I’m terrified. But one thing you learn as head counselor: you have to keep it together for everyone else. Let’s get you on your feet."

Here's a second example.

I rested my hand on Will’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. We’ll be back by dawn.”

His mouth trembled ever so slightly. “How can you be sure?”

4. He constantly worries about his loved ones.

Nico rested his hand on Will’s shoulder. “Apollo, we were worried. Will was especially.”

In conclusion, Will Solace's personality is difficult to get correct. But don't worry, if you write Will as a laidback, witty cat in your fanfics, I guarantee he'll be more in-character than many other fanfics with Will Solace.

Astro Observations 2.

hey y’all. ✨ these are some observations i’ve gathered from my own experiences. if it does not resonate with you, that’s okay. some things won’t always be true for some people. these are strictly just my observations and i hope i don’t offend anyone. thank you. :)

🌙 while a lot of people think of cancers as sweet, they can have a really nasty temper. i’ve also noticed some cancer placements can be emotionally manipulative. :/ i love y’all though.

🌙 leo’s really just want to be recognized for how big their hearts are. they are lovers at heart. they have an almost naivety when it comes to giving out love and praise. because they can tend to be open and loving with people, they assume others will reciprocate, but that’s not always the case. i feel this is maybe where, they can become a little “into themselves” because there aren’t given the love they give to others.. or they just become more closed off to showing love, out of fear that it won’t be reciprocated. (i just hurt my own feelings with this one. damn.)

🌙 2nd house moons tend to find comfort in they things they spend their money on. they love to feel secure. whenever there is an emotional imbalance, let the spending commence! lol i’ve also learned that whenever financial struggles arise, it can really send them into a spiral. because this is the 2nd house (material possessions, money), if the money isn’t flowing, the emotions (moon) can get thrown out of balance. they almost need the financial stability, for emotional stability.

🌙 cancer mercuries try so hard not to hurt feelings when speaking to others. they will try to find the nicest way to say something. these are the people who like to “let them down gently.” lol they also tend to say “i feel” a lot. they aren’t necessarily the people who will bring a bunch of facts and statistics.. it’s all about the feels, my guy. the type of people who you can go to when you need kind words or a listening ear.

🌙 capricorn mars radiate big ZADDY energy. whenever i see this placement, i think of this emoji: 🥵 because damn, y’all are hot. it’s the quiet confidence they exude without saying or doing much. the way they are about their business. they’re serious and cool-headed. they are in control and dominant. “i’ll handle it” type vibes. like damn! handle meeee.

🌙 i’m sorry, i don’t want to perpetuate this stereotype, but libras.. you’re fake, sis. its okay. it’s time we accept this truth. lmao you play the fence a lot, under the guise of “seeing both sides” and trying to keep the peace. and while that’s cute and all, (and at times necessary!) sometimes, you have to take a stand on things, no matter who it upsets. they also will use charm and their likability to manipulate you to do things for them. lol (can you tell i love libras?)

🌙 pluto conjunct midheaven has almost dark, yet powerful vibes. i feel these people display their deep and taboo thoughts for everyone to see. they say the uncomfortable things that others wouldn’t. their highs and lows may be on display.

🌙 sagittarius moons want ✨ good vibes only ✨ so much, that they tend to sweep the darker and uglier emotions under the rug. they tend deflect with jokes or just talking about different topics, so they don’t have to open any wounds they may have. i feel like all this bottling results in emotional outbursts. besides that, these are some fun loving and spontaneous people!

🌙 if you have an aquarius moon, anyone in the scorpio pluto generation will square your moon (depending on the degree). so these are people who can cause you emotional upheavals. they can have an impact on your emotional well-being and maybe even emotionally manipulate or traumatize you.

🌙 uranus - venus aspects find love in the weirdest places? lol they also love those who are unconventionally attractive. they love the weirdest things about people and don’t judge them for it! they can have the most exciting and whirl-winding, but sometimes, short lasting, romances. their style is non-conforming and unique! they can sometimes be imitated.

🌙 i’ve found that having a 6th house neptune is hell. lmao you have trouble following a routine and focusing on your health. you find yourself with random health issues that can sometimes resolve themselves and vanish just as quickly as they came? also, in order to get a better handle on your routine & health, it has to be creative in order to keep you focused. this goes for work as well. do not get stuck in monotonous, dead end jobs that will clip the wings neptune gave you to fly.

🌙 i’ve noticed that with 12th house jupiter, one can sometimes feel that the universe isn’t on their side. because jupiter (spirituality, religion) is in the 12th house (hidden, unconscious), you can tend to feel as if you are not being guided or looked after. the 12th house governs all things that exist without physical forms, so if you can’t see it, it’s hard for you to believe it. there are forces at work that you are unaware of, which can lead to a lot of doubting.

🌙 leo risings are affable and people enjoy being around them! they can be the life of the party and like being the center of attention. and why not? it comes easy to them.

🌙 aquarius sun men seem more unorthodox and detached than aquarius sun women. the men tend to be a little more cold and curt with people. they also waste no time in letting you know how dumb you are. lmao

🌙 3rd house neptune’s.. do y’all ever speak a coherent sentence? lmao i’m kidding. these people can be very into spirituality and will enjoy talking about it! they are intuitive and imaginative. if badly aspected, they can be deceitful with words. they tend to get lost in daydreams and lose focus quickly. we love a scatterbrain. 😌

🌙 mercury - jupiter aspects can be fast talkers. they may fumble their words a lot. super funny though!

🌙 12th house mars babies, please stick up for yourselves! :( set those boundaries and don’t be afraid of confrontation! be more assertive and stop self sabotaging! stop holding in your anger; find a healthy outlet! address things in the moment, that way you don’t have a build up of rage.

🌙 mars conjunct ascendant in synastry.. wheeeew. lemme tell you. 👀 the absolute sexual tension and chemistry is unmatched. it’s like a heat that radiates from the both of you whenever you’re around one another. the pull between you two is strong. very intense physical attraction.

🌙 i’m sure y’all have heard about degree theory. degrees can play a part in the way your placements express themselves! so for example: say you have a virgo mercury at 12°; 12° is a pisces degree, so your mercury will have pisces influence as well as virgo influence! the degrees add an extra oomph!

so a while ago @volkswagonblues left a reply on this post saying that jeong jeong was an example of "someone who is ideologically 'right' but whose character is absolutely not likeable, or at least not in the mainstream fandom-popular way". i started writing this response, but i totally forgot it was in my drafts until i wrote my iroh analysis. it doesn't seem right for me to have an iroh analysis post and not a jeong jeong one so here it is, the jeong jeong character analysis nobody asked for:

volkswagonblues's response hits on exactly why i find his character so fascinating - he's good, but he's absolutely not nice or well-adjusted about it. and he's definitely not mainstream-fandom "likable". it's rare that i see hate for one of my minor character faves (one of the benefits of having them), but i have actually seen people say they don't like jeong jeong. mostly, it centers around him being "wrong" about firebending, as opposed to the sun warriors. i can see where that comes from. jeong jeong has the noticable accent and proverb-y speeches of the ~mystical asian master~ trope, but his viewpoint comes off as pretty harsh and simplistic. this can confuse an audience expecting easy answers from a kids show - are you supposed to see him as wise or not? for me, i think asking "are jeong jeong's beliefs wrong?" is the wrong question. instead, you should ask: "why does jeong jeong have those beliefs?"

and the more you think about that, the more you see that he isn't actually wrong. firebending is the only type of bending where the bender produces the element from their own body rather than using their surroundings. it is someone imposing their will on the world, even more so than the other forms of bending. iroh sums this up nicely:

"Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will, and the energy to drive and achieve what they want."

there's nothing wrong with that in theory, but in the show, this drive and power manifests as the fire nation's imperialist conquest, and the goal they're trying to achieve is world domination. as a former high-ranking military official, jeong jeong has seen firsthand the ways firebenders use their power to hurt people. the culmination of the fire nation's ideology is a plan to burn the entire earth kingdom to the ground - exactly the kind of wide-scale destruction he describes in his first cautionary speech:

"Without the bender, a rock will not throw itself! But fire will spread and destroy everything in its path if one does not have the will to control it!"

you could say that firebending is misused by the fire nation, but that feels like a No True Scotsman fallacy ("that's not true firebending!"). the fact is, firebending's unique qualities fall in line with the nation's imperialist ideology. jeong jeong hates his bending because it is inextricably tied to the war he hates.

like many, i once thought a trip to the sun warriors would be healing for jeong jeong, but i've since realized that's not what he needs. jeong jeong is perfectly aware that firebending isn't always destructive - he counsels restraint and control, not total suppression, and he even alludes to sun warrior beliefs:

"Feel the heat of the sun. It is the greatest source of fire. Yet, it is in complete balance with nature!"

going to see some dragons who tell him that firebending is about the sun and life won't change his mind. 'of course it's not inherently evil,' he'll say. 'but it has been used in terrible ways'. his feelings aren't about firebending in the abstract. they're about firebending as it is used. that it has the capacity to support an ideology of conquest, that he and others have given into its destructive side and committed such atrocities with it. he's right to hate that. (i also feel like he'd resent the sun warrior civilization for their isolationism. i mean, i would, if i'd put my life on the line to fight against my nation and it turned out there were a bunch of people who agreed with me but did nothing about it.)

so if jeong jeong and the sun warriors aren't philosophically opposed (except re: their involvement in the war), why does his view of firebending seem so much harsher? because - and here we come back to the original point - he's not likeable. he's a strict teacher and plenty of us (especially if we were kids when we watched the show) have a knee-jerk negative reaction to that. his speeches about the danger of fire are grandiose. but here's the thing: the speech where he says the most derogatory things about firebending is not one where he's teaching. it's one where he opens up to katara:

"I've always wished I were blessed like you - free from this burning curse."

this reveal that he wants to be a waterbender means that everything he says to her about his bending is less about what he believes about firebending in general and more about his own personal struggles. and in that context, it's heartbreaking:

"It forces those of us burdened with its care to walk a razor's edge between humanity and savagery. Eventually, we are torn apart."

this is the core of it all - jeong jeong doesn't just hate the fire nation and its war, he hates himself, hates that he holds that destructive power inside him. he doesn't seem to struggle with the act of bending (another reason why the sun warriors wouldn't necessarily be any help) but he clearly doesn't want to do it, probably because it reminds him of when he did terrible things with it. no wonder he calls it a curse.

and so here's what we're left with: jeong jeong leaves the fire nation military because he is right that the war is wrong, and he counsels control and restraint in opposition to the imperialist ideology of constant expansion and conquest. however, he is severely traumatized and full of guilt from his participation in said imperialist conquest, and that means he comes off as harsh and overly negative. right, but not likeable.

while i was writing this post, i was rewatching a lot of clips from the show, and i got curious about his voice actor, who i suspected was actually asian (unlike most of the voice actors). it turned out i was correct - his name is keone young, and he's had a very long career - but he's hawaiian and doesn't have the accent that probably made me guess that. he has this to say about how he portrays the one-dimensional accented characters he often plays:

“I want to portray that person with an accent who is real instead of a stereotyped version of it," he said. "I’ve always wanted to see myself as the one the story revolved around so that it was my story not your story. I always try to convey I have some kind of philosophy or point of view.”

i bring this up because while i think jeong jeong's memorability can partially be attributed to the atla writers giving him a cool backstory and dramatic lines, what keone young says here about taking a character who's a bit of a stereotype and making them seem real, with their own philosophy and point of view...well, that's exactly jeong jeong. despite his limited screentime, we get a clear picture of who he is and what he believes. and who he is is someone who fully embodies his radically anti-imperialist politics, who has come to his beliefs from traumatic experience that's made him bitter. as the atla renaissance pushes us to reevaluate these children's cartoon characters with older eyes and modern-day politics, it's worth looking at a striking minor character like jeong jeong, who might not be fandom-likable but who has a lot of depth to offer and a perspective worth considering.
