Christian Radio...
God, if you believe in him as I do, doesn't care HOW you help people, but he also doesn't want you to empty out your entire wallet and bank accounts to help people to the point where YOU can't survive. It is okay to help others in need, obviously, it's very humane to do. But, if you don't have the extra money to be forking out to help those in need all the time, at the end of the day, God already knows who you are. Whether you work at McDonald's and can barely afford your apartment without having to have a roommate, or if you're a multi-millionaire who can afford to help anyone and everyone... As long as you help WHEN YOU CAN, that is all that matters. Now, Christian radio is great, I listen to it all the time. Even more so since I lost my mom 11 months ago today. But, one thing I notice, is that they are always asking for donations, and I get that it's supposed to keep Christian radio afloat, but at the same time, since when are donations a requirement to be a good Christian? Every time Toys For Tots toy drive season is around, I DO go out and buy 2 gifts, one for a girl, one for a boy, so that I can contribute to at least one, if not two children to have somewhat of a Christmas, because my kids have everything they want. They never have to go without, so since they've already been adopted into families who have more than enough money to shower my kids with birthday and Christmas gifts, then I feel like it's my duty to give when I feel it's necessary. Christmas time is a desperate time for many families in need, and even though Christmas isn't about getting gifts, the children look forward to that, and instead of Christian radio stations begging for donations like the Salvation Army Santa every year, they should be asking people to donate old clothes and toys and whatever other necessities they don't use anymore that are still in decent condition, to give to someone else who has nothing. Toy drives are nice, but what about coat drives for winter time? Food drives for the hungry Vets out there, the humblest of people: Homeless and less fortunate. Forget about the crap in Ukraine, we cannot control that. Yes, we should pray for them all to survive this nasty Russian war going on, but we needn't forget OUR OWN AMERICAN CITIZENS who are suffering and need more than most people realize. You don't have to give a monthly donation to a Christian radio station, in fact, I'd rather you give your money and used items that are still usable to someone who actually NEEDS it. There have been many times where I have fed many homeless people, and some homeless dogs, I've donated money to ASPCA and Humane Society, donated whole blood to The American Red Cross and donated plasma for 10 years of my life... I've donated more than my fair share to the world, not that I have to, nor do I expect any praise for it, because as decent human beings, we are expected to help others who can't help themselves, whether we want to or not, it's the humane thing to do. My mom always said, "Put yourself in their shoes", and in some cases, I've BEEN in those shoes. I give when I can, and I'm on a fixed income because I'm mentally ill, just started my own Spanish Translation business, haven't made a dime yet, but this morning while heating up my coffee in the microwave, I thanked God for waking me up this morning. You don't have to believe in God nor listen to Christian radio to be a decent and helpful human... You just do it because you're human and have feelings. To the Christian radio stations always asking for donations, God doesn't work like that. God is not about money. He is about helping those in need, and money doesn't always have to do with that. You could buy a fresh hot coffee and fresh off the grill taquitos from 711 and hand them off to a homeless person, and that is payment enough to God for him to see that you think of others besides yourselves. You don't have to tithe anything if you can't afford it. Just be a decent human being. That's what being a Christian is. A true Christian doesn't beg. They pray.
