Vierna, Maya, Briza Drizzt, Nalfein, Dinin

redraw/redesign of the Do'Urden family (probably will draw Malice, Zak and Rizzen next)

design notes/headcanons under the cut

i usually just have thoughts about the character as im designing so for a few things i was like 'oh thats a thought' also yes i know children of malice is a CR thing too haha

-i wasnt originally gonna draw 'lolths embrace' since these are just my own designs not visual dictionary but like....facial markings are really cool and so i ended up looking up various spider markings (i only used those specific realworld spider designs for dinin, who i also gave darker marking as opposed to lighter) and briza

-i also prefer the idea that its not actually anything to do with lolth, its just a genetic marking that some have and some don't. also the proximity to magic/faezress theory (?) was cool so there's not a huge meaning here; though i guess im guilty bcus I didnt give them to drizzt or vierna

-maybe zak doesnt have them and neither do his kids which sorta spurs on the heretic theory when its actually just a genetic thing that has no actual bearing on lolth's favour

-the women wear more gold and the men more silver, however the men can wear gold; they just have to be wary with standing out more than their sisters. any given day could be too much and cause for a beating

-nalfein likes jewelry and decorations/makeup and is more flashy when he's away at sorcere. his ears are marked up from training with/lessons from zak, who frequently would smack his ears when he was displeased with him. they blend in with lolth's embrace and he will cover them with makeup or a glamour on occasion. i just got the sense he was somewhat insecure given how he kept challenging zak and was written off by his family as mediocre. i think he liked being at sorcere more than at the house

-drizzt takes out his braids whenever he can. he likes his hair loose

-so does dinin. i think a lot of his appearance is meant to attract attention and establish his individuality

-i've always given vierna bangs and a ponytail BUT i love her braids in the comic so I gave her those too. her hair is unruly, like drizzts. she has a couple visible scars as opposed to her sisters because she trained more with zak. he felt bad about it but a bit relived when she didnt make a big deal out of getting a bit marked up. malice was angry

-maya has markings on her ears, so she doesnt pierce them. she wears makeup but forgets its there, and sleeps in it and wipes it off by accident. since her hair is shorter she decorates with little spider gold clips

-i will die on the headpiece hill. og drizzt oldman swag

-compared to my older art of them (first fanart of the series! i knew i was in when i drew all the siblings lol) i think i changed nalfein most to be less ...square....i hit him w a yassification beam and gave him eyebrows

Various!Creepypastas w/ a scarred!reader

waaaah im so sorry for not seeing this sooner! i didnt recieve a notification for this ask!! really theres no limit to how many characters you can send in! i think my personal max varies from prompt to prompt!! mix of how they approach the concept of a scarred lover (friend in tobys case) with some hints of fluff! cause of scars will be vague as admittedly i didnt know if you meant general scars or SH! side note i hope this posts right! im writing this on my computer, im used to mobile!! + apologies for any weird wording or typos, im listening to music and im getting hyped!! not proof read we die like my spiderverse brainrot

CWs: touch and go talk of potential past trauma, body image issues, vague mentions of SH(?) in EJs part + Toby's parts

admittedly admin doesnt know if its technically SH due to the nature and motiv but personally id still count it as such and tag it as such

Eyeless Jack;

he gets it, he really does. the basic run down of my hc/take on ej is that he wasnt always some flesh eating monster; just some dude who got caught up in some bad stuff

so naturally, he doesnt... really vibe well with the concept of eating human flesh, which can lead to a few... instances. from intentionally to accidentally harming himself while hes lost in his instincts

so hes no stranger to being a little roughed up around the edges

but hes a stranger to comforting; he'll likely approach it from a logical side before trying anything else. "you've been hurt," before going on a small tangent about the formation of scars. hes not the most... emotionally... good... available... person

so youre going to need to lay out the general basis for what you need for basic comfort, on days where your scars become an issue; be is needing comfort or a distraction. it may take him a while, but hell eventually start to pick up on cues and hints as your relationship develops

otherwise hes very neutral about them, again approaching them with a blunt view; seeing it as neither good nor bad. he doesnt draw attention to them, but he doesnt act like theyre gross

really just. vibing with it, doesnt make a huge deal of it since he feels he doesnt have any place to judge, nor does he feel its his business to pry for information

solid 6/10 imo, hell comfort you if you express that you need it but hell likely not go out of his way to do it

Hoodie;

Soft touches, he almost does it before he has your permission to touch you

naturally he has his own fair share of scars from various.. activities

really im still all jumbled up with how i wanna write him and masky; not sure if i want to make them like how they are in their MH source or lean into the proxy thing that was prominent in the early days of the fandom... lowkey leaning into the proxy thing for this post because im more... versed..? in that, but anyhow

hes more upfront and compassionate than eyeless jack, in fact hes probably the most caring out of the four in todays post... maybe thats because i read one (1) fic years back that changed my entire approach to his character but! yeah

subconsciously trails his hands on them when the two of you are holding one another; something gentle and intimate, not too obnoxious to make you self conscious, but not careful enough to go unnoticed

i view hoodie, and by extension brian if i end up considering him and tim fully seperate from their 'proxy' parts, as a very tactile person

true to the popular fanon interpretation, hoodie doesnt speak much. but that only makes him a better listener, so on days where things get hard, hell let you talk his ears off with anything thats bothering you. very rarely, hell speak up and offer some words of advice, most times hell inch closer to grasp you. though it does get awkward since most the time hes just. blankly staring at you silently without emoting or saying a word

overall? personally hes a 7/10 for me, i would rank him higher if he were more verbal, but thats just because admin has an easier time venting if its a two way convo; but overall hell make sure that your scars dont effect your worth

Masky;

very similarly to hoodie, masky also has his own set of scars for the same reasons

he probably starts pointing out his own scars to you and mumbles about where they came from if he knows their origins

this doesnt mean "oh hes invalidating your experiences and hes trying to make it about himself," but more so "hes showing that he really does get it and he doesnt mean to talk over you"

much like EJ he approaches scars with a very blunt and upfront mindset, but to a lesser extent. he admits that whatever led up to the tissue forming, it hurt. emotionally and physically, and hes not going to deny that simple fact. hell listen to you, have a conversation with you about it, and try to help you through whatever you may be currently going through regardless of if youre injury is relevant.

or at least, thats what hes trying to do.

hes still has his own personal issues regarding going about his own problems in a healthy manner but hey thats something for another post; maybe, if i remember

honestly this post doesnt have enough fluff imo, and i can kinda see masky doing this, but imagine he boops his mask against your scars in a mockery of a kiss (doesnt take off his mask often, in fact youll probably never ever see him without it on), i can see jack doing this too tbh

thoughts? 8/10, gets the bonus points for being less awkward to rant to imo, plus i think asides ej, i think i have a bias for masky for the simple fact i had the fattest crush on him when i was in middle school

Toby;

okay! this one is going to be interesting for one main reason! i actually havent touched tobys character in YEARS! so hes probably going to have the shorter list... obligatory i havent built any solid hcs for him past what was going on in the fandom in the 2010s, before toby briefly became a mild discomfort... but we're back in business baby!! (^^ dont feel bad for requesting for toby btw! hes no longer a discomfort, and if i didnt want to write for him i wouldnt be including him right here!!)

obviously we cant talk about his part without talking about his cheek. and other, similar hcs. while i dont think most of the self inflicted marks on his body were from a place of.. for lack of better words, darkness; it doesnt change the fact he still has them. i think a lot of them are from the fact he cant feel anything; accidental burns, gnawing through his cheek, digging his fingers deep into himself. really i could go into detail, but due to the aforementioned fact that my take on him isnt as developed as other characters + i really dont think its appropriate for this post (or really, anywhere on this account,), ill stop there

while he cant relate to the physical pain of what caused your scars, he can sympathize through your feelings. do you feel sorrow, or anger to whoever hurt you? hell be getting worked up right with you, because to him youre one of his closest friends

i feel like he doesnt talk much about his past, regarding his family. but hed tell you, and you can sure as hell bet that hell do his absolute damndest to grant you the same feeling of security.

hell probably touch and prod without truly meaning any harm, but thats because he can have problems with boundaries, but hell listen if you sit him down and tell him it makes you uncomfortable if it does

more so emotional than outwardly... supportive? idk the words, but hes very empathetic with you and tries to relate to you through emotion rather than feeling what you felt. honestly? kinda based for that, but maybe thats because i dont see feelings about this topic being touched on, usually its straight up about how the scar makes the person look or the physical trauma they had gone through, but idk, maybe thats just a me thing

he can be an asshole at times but hell usually backtrack and cool off somewhere else if you call him out on it imo

not sure if its because as im LITERALLY investigating his characteristics and interpretations as we speak, but i think im starting to relate to him so ER-OH!

anyways, i wish i could make his segment more... in tune with the characters above but its probably going to take me a while until im comfortable with how i portray this dude, which sucks because as a kid he was probably one of my favorites

i dont think im going to give toby a rating like the others; since i dont think i can accurate rate him due to the lack of proper concrete ideas outside of him being empathetic to your emotional pain since he cant relate on how much it hurt

im gonna end this here since im starting to sound like a broken record on tobys part so!

i hope you enjoyed this! characterization may be a little off but i blame that mostly on the fact that i kinda fell out of the loop in regards for writing for these guys (that damn spider movie! the brainrot threw me off my creepypasta grind!/j) but its good to be back writing for this fandom! it was a fun little brain exercise trying to figure out each character goes about this kind of thing without making them all the same!! with that being said, im going to go listen to an audio reading of tobys story so i can regrounded in his character and hopefully do him some justice in the future!

oh god. ok youre so right that this works with any wlw nina ship, but im gonna go through the lyrics and describe some toxic ass ninakate scenario that comes to mind LMFAOOOO SORRY I LIKE TOXIC YURI

ok so in an AU of my AU where ninakate happens, it all starts after nina is stabbed by jeff. they make her heal in the proxy cabin cuz theyre worried jeff will break into ninas apartment and finish the job(he has no interest in doing that tho). tim/brian/toby/jack are busy with zalgoid issues, SO kate sorta...keeps watch on nina while she heals. cuz of that, nina starts latching onto kate. between kate cleaning the stab wound, bringing her water, wrapping her up in gauze, nina crying into kates arms unprompted, asking kate to sleep in the same bed with her cuz she cant sleep, nina asking kate quiet questions for hours while the radio hums and rain pours outside... they share an awkward, "meaningless" kiss. nina blamed it on emotions running high. kate didnt know what to blame

(this section is HEAVILY inspired by still a friend by the back seat lovers, the entire song is very my-au ninakate)

SOOOOO i wanna go from THAT SONG into good luck babe by chappell roan...

"you can say that we are nothing" after the kiss, nina would probably be like 'we should go to sleep' and the next morning laugh about it and tease kate and be like "thats so funny, i never kissed a girl like that before. was that your first kiss? oh my god kate are you serious?! we should probably keep that between us, huh? its okay, it wont happen again!" and kates just nodding along while her brain is going 100mph. but kates perceptive as hell and she'd easily see all the little changes that happen afterwards. nina's gaze falling, her hands lingering, little comments she makes. and it'd make kate feel kinda stupid. "guess im the fool, with her arms out like an angel through the car sunroof" toby ends up 'inheriting' an old rusty red pickup truck from tim. i doubt it would have a sun roof, but i could see toby and nat up front, while nina and kate are in the back (like, the BACK bed of the truck). nina would be giggling, tilting her head back and her hair is flying like crazy and her arms are out and kate cannoooot get that damn kiss out of her head, especially when nina looks like that.

im thinking maybe it happens again. the group was hanging out, but nat and toby went off somewhere else, leaving nina and kate together. and kate offers to walk nina home, but ninas like 'what if i spend the night instead?' and kates immediately like Oh jesus christ okay. and they talk . and chat. and banter. and nina would bring up that stupid kiss and say something about 'i wouldnt mind doing that again. i mean, as friends.' and kates head is spinning.

and despite all of this, nina is still in a bad headspace. before, during, and after her relationship with jeff, she has HORRIBLY low self esteem and a need for attention/validation, and she will seek it out anywhere. she'd blame it on a million and one things "oh its just for fun, oh i was just drunk, oh its not that serious, he was cute, i got his number!". especially when trying to heal her bruised ego after the whole jeff thing (alongside a few huge arguments with toby calling her out on her BS). and kate listens, and even though she's really blunt and straightforward, she doesnt feel mean. not like toby or nat or jack. so even when kates like "that doesnt make sense" "that seems stupid though" "why would you do that" ninas just laughing and being like "it just felt right in the moment! im having fun, kate!". she thinks kate just doesnt get it, on account of never being in a relationship, but kate knows whats going on. she knows why nina is the way that she is, but all she has to say is . GOODLUCK LMFAO. shes not here to control or convince or plead with anybody, and def not nina. and i think that would kinda irk nina a little. she'd kiss kate, then a couple nights later talk about a guy she met at a bar, and kate just side eyes her and is like 'have fun' and nina wishes there was more

ok whether their kisses turn into anything else, i think theyd both continually agree to keep it a secret from everyone else. it would just be a huge mess that neither of them want to address, especially kate dealing with toby. but i think once kate starts getting a little affection and whatnot that she's never received (she's been in the chaser mode for over half her life, mind you), it would feel incredibly suffocating but also incredibly freeing. like she feels like something new has opened up to her, something that she got locked out of years ago. and nina has the key, unfortunately

ok this is where the song and story falls apart a little cuz ninas not getting married to anyone. i guess this could be a hypothetical where she goes back to jeff for a moment in time, but.. ehh.... dunno how i feel about that. and i dont think the 'i told you so' fits kate cuz she just kinda lets nina do whatever. asks questions and is like ??? and maybe has a bit of an attitude when saying 'good luck with that', but she never tells her what to do

i know "the feeling" is more about being into girls and how you cant hide from it, but i dont think the whole lesbianism thing would be their issue. in a ninakate interpretation of the song, i think 'the feeling' is either ninas issues with romance and self worth, kates ache to be with someone despite thinking she has no right to it, ninas guilt for leading kate on, and of course their literal romantic feelings...

anyway. anyway. um. cries. i just i really. i really im just. im fond of lesbians alright.

Like shes being framed and didnt actually do anything and he has to figure out how to get her out of jail because he knows her fragile self wont last in there."

Bouncing his leg, he looked at his watch as he sat on the edge of his bed.

1:47am. Where were you?

The phone rang. Eddie flying up and rushing to the phone, practically ripping it from the wall.

"Baby? That you?" he asked tensely.

"E-Eddie?" you voice quivered from the other end of the line.

He let out a huge exaggerated sigh, knees bending and threatening to give out under him.

"Baby!" he groaned in relief, a hand pressed flat to the wall above the phone. "Where the hell are you?"

"You were supposed to be back, remember?" He prompted, pressure in his voice.

"I... I'm in jail...." you practically whispered.

"What?!" Eddie shouted through the phone.

You winced holding the phone away from your ear.

"What happened?!" He yelled, not lowering his tone one bit.

There was a pause as you inhaled.

"Um... there was a wrinkle at Rick's house..." you spoke slowly.

Not good.

Grimacing, pulling his hand into a tight fist Eddie seethed, pounding the wall.

"What was that?" you jumped.

"Nothing..." he grumbled, "You ok?"

"Y-yah..." you looked around the station, "Uh.... I'm ok. But uh, Eds. I can't exactly call my parents about this."

Resting his forehead against the wall he sighed, "yeah I get it."

"Can you bail me out?" you asked hopefully.

"Lemme see what I can do ok?" Eddie replied.

"Ok. I uh... gotta go." You parted, hanging up.

Eddie stared at the receiver shoulders slumping.

"Son of a bitch!" he cursed, throwing several frustrated punches at the air.

You were at the Hawkins Police Station for what felt like ages.

Scared stiff. Trying to remain as calm as possible in your little corner of the cell they walked you into.

You were doing pretty well considering this was the first time that you had been jailed.

... That was until Officer Callahan brought in a pair of cellmates for you around quarter after 2am.

These two women were drunk and angry at one another. One sitting near you. The other sitting at the opposite end of the cell.

Their voices raised and echoing off the painted cinderblock walls as their dispute resumed from where it had been paused earlier.

You covered your ears and tucked up your knees, trying to be as small and unimposing as possible. Maybe they'd just eat each other whole and they wouldn't even notice you?

Suddenly a hand was on your shoulder. Sharp acrylics digging into your skin.

"Darla would you shut the fuck up?! Look! You're scaring the poor kid!" the ashy blonde rasped with a hefty cough.

"Like hell, Fran!" the younger woman with curly black hair retorted, "Kid's just a wimp! Do her some good to hear a real argument!"

Fran's nails raked up and down your spine, making you shiver with discomfort.

"Darla don't be such a bitch... look at her! She looks like a kicked pup!"

Their argument began to shift, becoming about you and your wellbeing without ever directly addressing you.

You had no idea how long their arguing went on for before Callahan finally came back, a cruller in hand.

"Ey!" he chewed thickly, "Ock it off... please?"

The women eyed each other hotly, and sat down. Fran sitting next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.

Things finally settled as time continued to tick by. The women growing drowsy.

Fran falling asleep across your lap, stretched comfortably across the bench you shared. You didn't dare move for fear of waking her. Your back growing stiff and your tailbone beginning to ache.

What time was it? The night had to be nearly over... Your parents were going to blow a gasket if you weren't at the breakfast table.

Your father ran a tight ship. Your parents didn't even know you were seeing Eddie... as you conveniently slipped away on nights when your mother had book club or your father was at the VFW.

Speaking of... Had Eddie forgotten about you?

Was it that bad?

Of course it was.

You had seen things on the news... Heard the sound bites that President Reagan and your local politicians pushed.

Drugs were a menace. They needed to be wiped out. That there would be no sympathy. For anyone.

The earliest twinges of sunlight were rising on the horizon.

He wasn't coming.

You were marked. Another bad seed. Into the system.

You tilted your head back, sniveling. Trying to stave off the tears. But it wasn't working.

Your life was in shambles.

BAM BAM BAM

"Y/N?" a voice bellowed, followed by the distinct but rude wrapping of metal rings on a laminated countertop.

BAM BAM BAM

"YYYYYY/NNNNNNN?!?!" the voice yelled again, singing it out desperately. "Baby you back there?!"

"Hey you can't just come back here! — Wait a sec...!" Callahan shouted from down the hall, falling out of his chair. His feet sliding off the top of his desk in a frenzy to catch up. Tripping over himself.

You perked up, wiping at your eyes. "Eddie?"

He popped his head around the corner, caramel eyes softening as they washed over you.

"Hey babes."

"Eddie!" you hiccuped pathetically, shoulders trembling.

A hand grasped Eddie by the shoulder.

"Hey!" Officer Callahan wheezed, "You can't be back here..."

"But officer..." Eddie pled, "My girl has no business being behind those bars. It's cruel really..."

Your lower lip wobbled pitifully with hope as Eddie poured on the charm.

"It's just a case of wrong place wrong time... innit that right baby?" he cooed over his shoulder. You nodded furiously in response.

Callahan stretched his back, a creak in his spine pulling a wince on his face.

"Now I know you may think your girlfriend is an angel but we found marijuana on her..." he stated, "federal weight..."

Eddie paused, chewing his tongue as if this information were entirely foreign to his ears.

Nodding his head side to side, Eddie waved the officer to lean in closer.

"So you're telling me... that in your youth... you never once got stopped for weed?" Eddie charged, clasping a hand under his chin in thought.

Callahan paused, his eyes flitting from Eddie's face to yours and then back.

"Well I... " he began.

Eddie held up a hand. "So you're going to let this child..." he motioned to you. "This pristine example of Hawkins' future be ruined... for having weed?" he emphasized, eyes narrowing in feigned disappointment.

Callahan looked at you. You tried to muster up as much of a pitiable face as you could. Sniffing and letting a stray tear run down your cheek.

The officer groaned, pinching his nose, his glasses sliding up his face.

"Alright..." Callahan whined in exasperation, relenting. "But you better not tell a soul I let her out of here..."

He stared at Eddie. Then pointing two fingers at his eyes and reflecting them at you.

You nodded gratefully as he went to get the keys.

Stepping up to the bars Eddie grinned devilishly, arms crossed in triumph.

"You didn't think I was coming... did you?" he accused, tipping his head down, looking at you over the bridge of his nose.

Your face flushed as you quickly darted your eyes away.

"Eds... 'm sorry..." you mumbled tapping the toes of your shoes together.

He leaned against the bars, "S'ok baby... one lil mishap ain't gonna set me back too far. I got ways to make it up."

"And you can make it up too..." he hummed, biting at the pad of his thumb, eyes batting at you.

"Not the time..." you whined half-heartedly.

He smiled shyly.

"So aren't you gonna introduce me to your new friend?" Eddie pointed at the still dozing woman, who's head was in your lap.

You blushed, scratching the back of your neck awkwardly.

"Uh... this is Fran... it's a long story." you giggled.

Callahan returned with the keys, and fetched you from the cell.

After a few signatures and some light finger waggling you hopped into Eddie's van to get you home before your alarm clock would go off.

Parking around the block, you stole a handful of kisses before slinking back in through your window and under the covers.

"Did you have sweet dreams?" your mother asked, at the breakfast table.

"Y'know... at first it seemed like a nightmare... but yeah... they were pretty sweet." you replied thoughtfully, scooping a piece of melon from the rind before taking a bite.

I PROMISE THIS IS NOT VAGUING ANYONE I JUST SAW IT GET BROUGHT UP ON THE DASH AND I REMEMBERED anyway because ive been thinking about it now for a while but ppl clutching their pearls about cure wing is so funny to me. hes so inoffensive. there are at least like 5 girl precures who look and act way more masc. he is not even a human boy so all his issues are weird bird shit but i fell off of keeping up with this season so idk if he suddenly wants to kick a football or what. its almost comical how much toei wanted the "precure guy" clout but didnt want to commit so they made some magical animal have a little boy form that barely really matters identity wise aside from like a few jokes

i think its entirely possible to just imagine he's a girl until the show is over. knowing toei next show might not even have a male precure. look at kamen rider, it skipped having a female rider two seasons in a row after they made a huge thing about valkyrie and how this is NEW and REIWA RIDER so were CHANGING THE STATUS QUO (apparently geats had a female rider tho? good for her.)

tbh, if precure started doing sentai ratios it would be pretty interesting (except girl leaning so for example 3 girls 1-2 guys, then the mid season cure is a girl also). im not saying "there must be guys" but if its fully within the genre and they are frilly. so like they could literally just be girls anyway, but it would make a lot of kids happy otherwise. i think precure will always be a GIRL franchise especially marketing wise and toei is all about selling toys, cure wing is not suddenly turning it on its head especially given toei has so many BOY franchises as it is, so there will be many seasons mainly with all girl teams to c9me, but maybe once every two or three seasons there will be guys (or most likely just One boy). not because "there should be guys!!!!" but bc eventually the binary just feels more and more silly imo. does this make sense. i am not saying it has to happen i just wonder what the world will look like if it did. tbh back when i was a little girl (and yet still pretty weird about gender looking back) i always loved all the cute girls but if there were one or two guys as long as they did not dominate the story and there wasnt any forced gender based plotlines (like romance, but not necessarily) i would have been as happy as a clam. cuz i really did like ensemble anime where there were girls and guys also!

DOES THIS MAKE SENSE... i just thought about it as a discussion sort of thing.

pre project write up: the coat!

ill keep this short (for me) because i worked through most the details with the wearable mockup from last year, but i wanted to reintroduce this project & the fabrics ill be using :)

This is the final version of my winter coat project, which i am starting at a great time (ill probably finish this well after its gotten cold!) Ive started with a base of McCalls M6800, because im not super confident in my ability to draft a pattern with the correct ease for this type of garment. Ive made some minor fittings (far too much room in one of the front seams for me, and i took some volume out of the skirt area. the shoulders were. weird. i honestly wouldnt rate this pattern super highly it had some grading issues that should have been caught, but it serves my purposes) and now i should be ready to go! i wont be following the instructions very much but theyre pretty basic anyway, so ill just go my own way and see where i end up!

this is kind of the inspo if you want a visual!

the main body of the coat will be made out of this gorgeous, velvet like wool (i think its a blend?). In true Nyx fashion, its black and absolutely impossible to photograph. its probably one of the most expensive fabrics ive ever bought but i looked through dozens of options and this was by far the best one i found. im really particular about textures and this one is just, so nice, and its quite thin for a wool (not in a bad way, its just compact rather than fluffy) which is something im going to appreciate with the amount of fabric in this coat.

Next: the lining! given that i was going to all this effort to make my own coat, i wanted this to be a completely unique garment, in every aspect, including the lining. I knew i wanted something with a design on it, and something that was a dramatic contrast to the outside, so when i saw this gorgeous 'chinese brocade' fabric i knew it was the perfect thing. Its very much. not a lining fabric and was past the budget i had in mind for my lining but i didnt see anything that came even remotely close to this in my mind so i caved and bought it. Even a year on im still enamoured with it and hope i have some left over to use for other things! I did get extra of the slippery black satin i used to line the mock up coat and i plan to use that to line the sleeves just for the extra glide, but ill use this for the main body.

one last fabric! one of the changes i wanted to make from the red version was to add a fur collar so i tracked down the softest faux fur you have ever touched! again awful to photograph, but its perfect, and it was by weight, so now i have a huge piece of this :D

i do also want to make note of the buttons i picked! theyre absolutely gorgeous and i, once again, hunted for ages to find the perfect option and here they are! they photograph a lovely colour but irl the gold is a little pink toned so my extra ass has bought some rub n buff to tone them into a better shade. yes. the buttons. for my coat. listen.

im generally happy with my mock up, but there are a few changes i want to make. the obvious one was one that was in the plans from before i even started the red one, which was changing the collar. i wasnt super sold on it in the first place and the further in i got, the more i wanted a fur collar! since i have so much of my fur, im also planning on adding it around the cuffs and i do keep tossing up doing the whole hem but i think that might be a little much.

The other major change i want to make is to how i finished the coat. im actually pretty happy with the hemming method i chose for the reasons i chose it, but for this version i want to do something different. the plan this time is to do a facing in the outer fabric on the lining pieces and have that completely attached through the inside, removing any opportunities for the lining to show unintentionally.

Theres also a couple of minor fit things i want to change, i want to add more width to the back in case this fabric is tougher than my mockup, i want to rethink how i did my buttons because that made me miserable last time, and i want to add a little length to the hem. oh and better pockets! i need to give it my mega pockets. but overall im pretty much ready to go straight into it! im so nervous

wait guys can i be a little hater about totk i haven’t done that on here. and like for the record i’ve been having lots of fun with it even if i haven’t been able to play for a while. but also

idk how to do a read more on mobile. idk if u even can i didn’t use mobile when i used to make posts more. like five yrs ago. ill add that when im on my laptop next soryyyyy

anyways NUMBER ONE. sticking with the nonlinear storytelling. i think it worked for botw, felt immersive with link uncovering things about his past on his own, etc. i don’t understand the point of it here and i think it takes away from the story lol. especially with the dragons tears where they like try to foreshadow and they try to show u characters and a storyline but succeed in actually letting us know the characters hardly at all and all foreshadowing fails because you can get them in any order which also brings me to the end cutscene of minerus temple which for some reason is just 70% recapping what the dragons tears said? then the temples didnt feel very rewarding to finish just because you didnt learn anything new unlike the divine beasts you just got nearly identical scenes for all the dead sages changed only by speech patterns and approximately 3 lines from the new sage. id rather just have a scene with the new sage then the sameee cutscene with zelda every time. and i truly believe the scene after the last geoglyph dragons tear wouldve been way more impactful for me if id gotten the last few in order. i felt a drive to advance the plot for about three days and then nothing. because there is SO LITTLE plot it feels like. you get these fragments here and there and while ive been loving to explore this changed hyrule its like. i was so excited for new plot especially bringing back ganon back into the mix after so long and all we got were crumbs. come on now.

SECOND speaking of plot what was with all that emphasis on the sky islands in trailers when its the DEPTHS that r so much bigger. and there is like NOTHING about them in the plot of the games — they’re just an extension of the sky islands and overworld, really, in everything but aesthetic appearance, and they’re never relevant in the story despite how huge it should seem that there is clear evidence of zonai civilization there which is for some reason identical to whats in the sky? everyones like omg look in the sky and only josha cares about the underground in a sidequest that means very little.

THREE everyones already said something about the disappearance of guardian tech and its already been countered with a “well they must have dismantled it all to avoid it being used against them again” and thats all well and good but the complete lack of mention despite working closely with the sheikah tech researchers is INSANEE whered the massive divine beasts go?! its like the events of botw never happened no one talks about it ingame!!!!! no ones ever like well ever since we cleared all those broken down guardians from the field by fort hateno, or we’ve been using the old tech to learn from to create this new slate that is nearly identical in function to ur old one but we’re gonna for some reason always act like this camera or sheikah sensor r totally new and exciting. ???

I've never seen any headcanons of them ever so it's super hard to wirte (even if it is just for myself, but I love over analyzing both of them) so I was wondering if you had any cools ones that you're comfortable with sharing?? I'm really really sorry if this is random, from a random user but I'm just so content starved and your art on here is so comforting and I love the scene one so so much!!!!

wow i really appreciate that! i have a few, nothing too exciting. im not sure if you meant for them interacting or independent headcanons but ill say what i remember. it might be a longer response than you asked for LOL

for more technical ones:

i headcanon that nathan knows at least a little about how leslie works as a robot so if she gets hurt he can help fix her (but hes no robotics engineer so he cant do much about major damage). i also think that she can continue to mimic voices (like when she pretended to be president). she can use this to help herself or nathan (usually blackmail) but she also uses it to taunt nathan (for example, mimicking jimmy to piss nathan off). i also think leslie can change her body temperature from colder than a human to scalding hot (sometimes not on purpose, if she isnt working properly she might overheat which could damage her). i always imagined that there was some sort of underground facility (i wanna draw this but lazy) where she went to recharge, but thats one of my more fantastical headcanons. i personally think she didnt have parents or a house to live in (only a facility) but thats just me. i imagined that after leslie died, nathan recuperated and went to the crime scene or wherever her body was held and either: a. she showed signs of being functional, so he broke her out. or b. assumed she was completely dead/a lost cause and left her there (and she was still alive but wasnt capable of showing signs). both are fun ideas . i imagine that nathan diverted a great deal of his savings from drug-dealing to help repair leslie if he had saved her.

as for their relationship, in my headcanon:

neither of them will admit that they care about one another, even though they do. leslie doesnt admit it because she thinks that being emotional could compromise her rational thinking. nathan does not admit it because i dont think hes ever admitted any true feelings of appreciation or friendship for anyone lol. he would not do anything that might make him emotionally vulnerable (not that hes really conscious of this).

they both taunt eachother and can be meaner than they intended to. they both have a habit of lying to others in canon, so i imagine they still do that.

from a rational standpoint, leslie considers nathan an important asset and his ability to keep quiet about important (and unethical) things makes him valuable for secret operations. from a not-so-rational standpoint, she appreciated his different approach to life and the fact that he is not phased by leslies bizarre nature (the way she acts when she drops her act of being some innocent kid). she has grown fond of him in a way that i believe resembles an unspoken friendship.

nathan first considered leslie as another person to harass, but after being "employed" by leslie, he began to actually appreciate her, and its probably the first time a girl did not instantly hate or pity him. he probably has some sort of crush, but maybe not because leslie is crazy. he also thinks leslie is scary (but so do most people who have dealt with her "mask-off"). i think nathan likes leslie more than leslie likes nathan, but nathan is the first person she goes to if she has a problem, so they are dependent on each other at least a little.

ok ive finished both eps 42 and 43 of kingoh now so heres my messy thoughts on things

as a disclaimer!!! this is not at all me saying that i dont like kingohger or that i think its a bad sentai show or anything like that! i really have loved kingohger and have had a lot of fun watching it!! i really love the characters and im going to miss them when its over. this is all just my personal opinion and relates to my own tastes in writing and such and im not at all trying to ruin peoples fun or stop people from enjoying the aspects that i dont really like. im not wanting to be mean or anything like that.

ok that out of the way. you would probably expect that as someone who really loves the different sibling relationships in toku shows and is really deeply moved by them to be more emotional about racles and gira but i just... have not. very early on in the show i was hoping so badly that we would get some parallels on the brothers and how they differ and that we could also have some parallels to the other sibling relationships in the show, gira with his little sister and brother and suzume and kaguragi vs gira and racles relationships. i had thought that exploring those parallels could be really interesting and good, and i still think that if they had chosen to explore that early on it wouldve been interesting and couldve also been used to have the reveal later on have more impact.

ive never really been a racles stan, although i do absolutely admire and enjoy his actors performance hes fantastic and has always done a great job in his role- but i dont like the sudden redemption happening. when the twist first happened i thought it was interesting and was thinking maybe it wouldve been motivated by racles being selfish, but i felt like episode 42 was very... idk the word. hollow maybe. we hadnt gotten any kind of hints that racles was actually a double agent or that he was doing things for giras or the peoples sake (so i dont really get people who say they knew it all along im sorry gnmgh) and its like. this again could have worked out better if there was some foreshadowing and hints to what was going on or at least some kind of build up. episode 43 kind of vaguely touches on how many people racles has gotten killed and how he says he wants to go down in history as the worst ruler ever and its like.... idk it feels like a retcon in a way to be like oh yeah btw all these horrible atrocities and war crimes he committed were actually for the good of the people! maybe im just being too much of a bleeding heart commie gmgmy but i do think there would have been more impact if racles actually HADNT been a double agent this whole time and if he actually had to face his actions and have some kind of change of heart while also not being totally 100% nice all of the sudden.

again i really did early on want more development on the brothers and wanted exploration of the contrasts between them as people, and i think both gira and racles actors are wonderful and did a great job in their roles. it makes me sad that i didnt.. really feel emotionally moved seeing the brothers scenes in these last two episodes and i think it just comes down to lack of build up and feeling like things are coming out of nowhere and rushed and like no actions have any real weight or consequences

like for example ive mentioned this before but the whole deal with yanma destroying the laptop and watching it youre going oh shit the whole kingdom is fucked he made this huge sacrifice. and then its totally fine a few episodes later. or how they kill the pink jester and in the moment its presented as this huge deal. and then shes fine. it feels like that just kind of continues to happen and its something that frustrates me because kingohger is really fun and has great concepts but then nothing holds any weight, the stakes you set up are meaningless when nothing actually has any consequences

and to just say it again. i AM enjoying kingohger. im having a lot of fun with it! i like this show and its characters a lot! which is part of why my brain notices these things and why i want to analyse it because i can see how i wish it could be better in certain aspects. i really like this show but i dont really agree when i see people saying that its a masterpiece of sentai writing

also i really wish suzume hadnt become another victim to genre typical misogyny where it feels like her character just revolves around racles and liking him and it feels like we lost so much potential with her character i still love her and her actress but early on i was so excited for her having some kind of depth but well.

and another thing i was thinking of as i was watching ep 43 was... why have all of the kings of shugodom thru history be secretly against dugded. it again feels like something that would have more weight and impact to it if there were some kings who really were on dugdeds side and then giras dad decides that hes not going to fall in line and is going to actually do something to try and save his people.

idk as i finish typing this i kind of feel like im being nitpicky and i really dont want to be a downer or ruin peoples fun 😭 i really do like this show i promise thats why i think about this stuff. thanks if u read this mwah

finished the beginner set of levels in the Strawberry Jam Collab, moving onto intermediate :-) here's some pics of my favorite maps from it (but not all of them; a lot were really cool). ive been jotting down short reviews of them as i go so i'll put those under a cut if you also like celeste and are curious. be warned im not very descriptive with these!!!

forest path - utilizes a very interesting take on the dreamblock mechanic (giving you a crystal to effectively dash through any wall once) which i really liked. a few of the rooms had a nice and fun fast-paced feel to them, which is what i play Celeste for. also the music is really good

azure caverns - simple. fun. it takes the thought process behind the gear blocks and changes it up a bit. overall easy, but the last room felt a bit more precise than everything else. not necessarily a bad thing though. music got a bit grating. colors were pretty and easy to see.

loopy lagoon - really unique aesthetic and mechanics. it just feels really good and lets you go fast. loved it.

seeing is believing - the concept is novel… i like that they added a version for single players. overall not much to say about it, its just kinda neat but not challenging or anything.

if my 'driveway' almost did you in… - interesting use of the falling/moving blocks. made me think a bit.

cassette cliffs - the music tempo changes were sort of annoying. concept was alright. art was pretty.

over the city - im not a huge fan of the extra jump mechanics so this one was just ok. got a bit frustrating at times. i dont feel like it overstayed its welcome though, it just isnt my type of level LOL

troposphere - i like the dream block jumping mechanic and this level had a lot of that so i liked it. very pretty. has nice music. i feel like the inclusion of feathers may have been a bit arbitary but it felt nice to play.

potential for anything - i knew this level was going to be a VVVVVV reference from the moment i saw it. It reimagines some of the rooms from the original game with celeste's added dash mechanic, which is super cool. I liked it a lot. wish the music was better. LOL.

midnight spire - this one was simple and not revolutionary but i liked it! mindless fun and pretty design.

paint - super pretty art and the mechanics were interesting but the art got in the way of visibility at times lol.

rose garden - this one was VERY delightful to play. the art is absolutely gorgeous. i thought the music was a bit too high-energy at first note, but then i realized it totally has the cadence of mario galaxy music, which i assume the main mechanic is trying to reference. it wasn't very hard, just plain fun.

treehive - sooo so silly and fun. i loved the bounciness of it. also the honey aesthetic was cute.

the squeeze - it was fine. i liked the little jingles that played each time you successfully 'squeezed' through a gap.

soap - i really like how this level looks. admittedly the mechanic had be stumped on the very first room because i didnt understand what was actually happening. once it clicked (aka, once i watched a video of someone else playing the first room) though, it became a very interesting dilemna. i was fighting my instincts to randomly dash basically the entire level. not my favorite custom mechanic but it was still neat. the heart room was also a challenge in itself instead of just being a big blank room with no danger so that was sorta cool.

switchtube vista - I REALLY LIKED THIS ONE!! the color palette was awesome, the music was awesome, and the gameplay was fast paced and somewhat precise but not in an obtuse or confusing way. The level makes it incredibly clear what you should be doing, you just have to be able to do it. i thought it was one of the easier levels so im not sure why its marked as being difficult but whatever…

a gift from the stars - this was another puzzle level. the mechanics of it sort of fucked with my brain, i won't lie. i looked up parts of solutions for hints at times… really cool though. i'll admit however that the visibility of the level kinda sucks. cool music too

strawberry orchard - music was silly but sort of distracting at times. i dont love the theo mechanics but i think they were used well here and did not overstay their welcome! overall fun

dropzle - ok admittedly the concept sort of bored me at first; i don't really play this game to be challenged by puzzles. As i played more though, i found myself being a bit more forgiving and really digging the idea more. The puzzles were hard, but not toooo hard. i loved the music, i think that contributed to my enjoyment of the level a lot. very calming.

coresaken city - didn't dislike this one as much as i thought it would (not a huge coreblock fan). i think it utilized the mechanics well without making itself too difficult which was nice for my weak hands.

blueberry bay - ohg my god the music was awesome. i loved the reusing of the lobby music. ok i'll admit i didnt love the puzzle portions of this but i know they had to be included somehow. such a beautiful testament to the overall level pack. im sure im gonna say this about very heartside though.

You waited at home patiently for three months for your boyfriend to return from his tour "dont touch yourself till i get back" where his last face to face words to you. Would you be lying if you said you hadnt touched yourself for three agonising months? No you wouldnt, you knew better than to fuck with him.

The day came when you would be seeing him again and you where through the roof, you missed him more than you expected. You spent many nights crying into his shirts and pillows missing not only his touch but the way he smelt, his hugs and the way he never failed to wake you up with neck kisses and a raspy voice . The journey to the airport felt too long, you listened to his abominator album over and over missing the days where he would scream the songs in the living room for you before they where released to make sure they where disgusting enough.

You finally got into the air port and headed to the gates where he would walk out in 20 minutes. You entertained yourself with random rock magazines and the cancerslug that played through your head phones. You wore your 'Doyle' zipper and plain black vest top with blue jeans and uggs.

The people started flooding out the gates yet there was no sign of your boyfriend, your smile slowly faded and eyes started to glaze at the thought of the worst. Was he not returning home? If so why? You have waited too long for him and now he decides to act weird again and disappear? Oh no wait never mind there he is.

"ALEX" you scream running for him, a huge smile plasters his face as his arms open wide "hello baby!" His deep southern accent that you missed so much drowned any worries that you had prior as he took you in his arms with a warm hug. The people who stood around 'aww'ed at the sight "ive missed you so much baby" he spoke breaking the hug "ive missed you more honey"

The car journey home was great, he filled you in about the 'mischief' him and the guitarist of the band he was in Doyle got up to. The shows sounded like they went great and he was definitely feeling good about them which was good to hear, you didnt like when he was pissed.

You parked your car outside your shared home and got out, the snow from a few days ago sitting round the edge of the walls "so honey what have you been up to?" He asked walking into the warm house, kicking his shoes off "well i cleaned the house and hung up the Christmas decorations." He looked around and put his arm around you "i see, you done a great job" his tone got noticeably serious and you knew the question was coming. Alex turned round to you, his face dead pan, something he was too good at was changing to goofy to serious in seconds and it scared the shit out of you "did you?" "Did i what?" You knew fine well what he was on about but decided to play with him alittle "did you touch yourself while i was away?" his eyes scanned your face for any anxious twitches "no baby i didnt" he kept eye contact for a little before crashing his lips to yours "your always so good for me baby, cmon let me reward you"

You eagerly followed behind him, his hand linked with yours as he took you to the bedroom "go lie down for me" you done as he asked, lying back on the double bed as you eyed him taking his clothes off, leaving him in only his boxers. You started unbuttoning your jeans and his head darted to yours "did i say you could undress?" You shook your head "use your words baby or you wont get anywhere in life" he slowly started walking over to you "yes alex" he stood over you with a sadistic smile, his tattoos the only thing you could use to take your mind off his menacing face. Alex crawled over to you, stopping when he was right above you "do you know how much ive missed you? Every single day i would touch myself to the thought of you. The thought of your body covered in my blood, i want you honey. Is that okay?"

Hearing about his blood wouldve freaked out many who didnt know him but he loved blood as much as a discord mod loved anime dating simulators.

"Yes baby thats okay" he kisses the side of your face softly "whats the safe word?" "Pineapple!" You shout and he laughs "exactly like that" swiftly he rips your vest top off you and you gasp, thank god it wasnt expensive. He them moves to undo your jeans and underwear , pulling them off then proceeds to lift your legs up over his shoulders, you squirm alittle feeling insecure and exposed. Alex starts licking your folds swiftly, his eyes squint shut like he was in pure bliss as you let out your pathetic moans making him moan too, the vibrations making you squirm even more. God you missed this. u ever heard of Pepsi in Sonic 1

(alternative title for this post: the weird rom hack i made 6 years ago)

hello. at the time of me writing this opening paragraph, it is november 7th, and my old rom hack 'Pepsi in Sonic 1' turns six years old today.

you probably have not have heard of it. if you have, you probably either watched somecallmejohnny play it once, or you ran into it while looking up sonic rom hacks on youtube, or you got a random DM from me asking "u ever heard of pepsi in sonic 1" for no reason other than because its funny.

if you already know me, you know i am bad with words and conversation and stuff. but if you dont, i hope that helps a bit of understanding in why i might randomly ask u if u heard of this weird little rom hack. i am bad with starting a conversation ! and my dumb little sense of humor thinks it's funny to bring up a rom hack that doesnt even represent any of the things i currently do !

anyways, even though i joke a lot about this rom hack now and for a few years even Hated its very existence... i also have a deep love for it, as it was one of the few fangames ive made that i feel were made of pure, unrestrained passion. and i dont think i would be the same person i am now if not for this dumb little hack existing.

so, if u wish.. you can click the little 'read more' thingy to learn a bit about this crazy sonic hack i made when i was like, 13.

Alright, so Pepsi in Sonic 1 is a rom hack of (you guessed it) Sonic 1 that i made in 2016 for the sonic hacking contest. at that point, i had only been making games for 2 years and this was one of my first rom hacks ive ever made...

On the Surface, it looks like just a simple joke hack that replaces Sonic with a can of Pepsi. there's also a ton of other sprites that get changed into random little jokes, with some of the more notable changes being Big the Cat replacing Eggman, Jimmy Neutron replacing the Newtron badniks, and the wrecking ball sprite being replaced by a sprite based off Somecallmejohnny's "amiibo face". The game also has a ton of other silly little jokes, such as changing every level's names to something dumb or changing the level art slightly. And the people who played it pretty much wrote it off as just that... just a weird little joke hack that you may or may not have found funny.

but let me tell u.. there is more to this dumb little rom hack than u think ! one of the most major changes to the original game is that every level has been edited to have almost completely new level design.. and honestly a lot of the levels hold up pretty well. the Are some problems which come from the way they were designed.. for u see, i still didnt know a whole lot so a lot of the levels are built on top of the original Sonic 1 layouts, with some sections in some levels being kept the same, as well as all of the levels being forced within the original size limits of the levels (on Top of me having to deal with all the hardcoded bullshit from certain levels like Labyrinth and Scrap Brain).

So, some levels like 'Not Green Hill Zone', 'Dimps Place Zone', and 'Pepsi City Zone' have some really huge changes to the level layouts, while the rest of the game is still a little recognizable from the original Sonic 1 levels.. but i managed to make enough changes to where the whole game feels wildly different from vanilla Sonic 1. Not Only are all the levels different.. but all of them have a hidden "emerald monitor" which u can find to unlock one of the emeralds. they're in pretty difficult to find places, and when u collect all 6 emeralds they give you extra lives when destroyed. The only problem with them is that you can keep collecting the same emerald monitor in a level by dying... so you could cheat and get all 6 emeralds in one level. Still, it's a nice little thing that i put a lot of effort into making.

another one of the main big things in the hack is the Playable Characters. the main character is just a Pepsi Can who is basically just a sprite replacement of Sonic, However there are three other characters in the game that you can play. there is Pepsiman, who's main gimmick is that he can't actually do Damage while spinning. he's basically the game's hard mode, and you actually have to explore the third act of each level to find an invincibility monitor, as he also can't do damage to the bosses. he is the Running Hero, after all ! his only desire is to quench your thirst.. oh and also he can destroy eggman monitors without taking damage from them so. Yea.

You can also play as Classic Sonic, who is his own separate character and uses sprites from the 8-bit games. unlike the other characters, he actually has his own special move: The Drop Dash. You See, in the middle of the hack's development, Sonic Mania was revealed. So, as soon as i saw the drop dash in that game i just Had to implement it in this game. And Well, with it being one of the first instances of the drop dash in a fangame, it is implemented Very Poorly. But It Exists ! and there's actually secret paths you can take using it in the levels (something i wish Sonic Mania did but oh well..). Something that Classic Sonic doesnt have that the Pepsi Can and Pepsiman have is that they can perform the 'Shield Double Jump', in which you are given the ability to double jump while having a Shield. the double jump is pretty powerful, but it stops your speed. i didnt give it to Classic Sonic for Balancing reasons (AKA: i wanted there to be a reason to actually play as the other characters)

the only other character is actually a very hidden secret character: a Very Broken version of Knuckles. all of his sprites are broken and also i think it plays loud music while u play as him. thats all there is to him LOL!

Anyways. Um Yea. i put a lot of work into this rom hack back then. i was still pretty new to ROM hacking, with this being my first time using a disassembly. so i had to both learn basic ASM aswell as figure out how a ton of tools worked just for this game.. and i didn't even understand how most of the stuff worked by the end of it ! and i spent pretty much every weekend Exclusively on working on the hack. also, i had pretty much No Help with this game, with me having to rely on the Very Old and Outdated sonic retro wiki aswell as old forum posts just to implement the things i wanted (and there's still a ton of ideas i didnt get to implement)

when the game finally released at the hacking contest, i was very proud of it but also very Burnt Out. there was still a Ton of issues with this game... for One, all of the pixel art was pretty Bad. not only that, but my method for implementing artwork was very Confusing and Time consuming, with the different playable characters being a huge hassel as i did not know how to make them have different "mappings", which made making the different characters very restricting. there's also little problems with the level design, such as certain "chunks" being misused at some points and also Labyrinth Zone being not as edited as the other zones

i think one of the biggest mistakes i made with this game is with the jimmy neutron sprite... You See, in the original Sonic 1, the Newton badnik has two variants with different behaviors. one uses the first palette line, which contains the colors used for Sonic and most of the objects in the game. the Other varient uses a separate palette line specific to Green Hill Zone, which gives it a more green color scheme. You See.. the jimmy neutron sprite wasnt implemented until the Very End of the game's development... and i never bothered to check the other variant of the jimmy neutron sprite to see if it worked with the new palette and Um..

Yeah . it is not supposed to look like that. this is something that i didnt realize until awhile ago when i replayed the hack for this post. i feel pretty stupid for not noticing it sooner.

anyways. part of what made me hate this game for awhile is The Humor. you see, when it came out, a lot of the people in the hacking community thought it was Unfunny and Dumb. So, by extension, i also started Hating it for being a Dumb and Unfunny rom hack. And well... i made this hack when i was 13, so there Are a lot of dumb unfunny stuff in this hack, like replacing the Points sprite with 'GAY', or having one of the sprites be of ken penders' face.

a lot of things in this hack havent aged well, but i think ive grown to accept this hack's existence. its one of the first things ive made that got Some sort of public knowledge, even if still very few people have played it. And i think, if it werent for me making this hack and joining the hacking community, i wouldnt have ended up in the crazy situation i am in today..

i may joke about askin people if theyve heard of pepsi in sonic 1, and although i would prefer if people checked out my newer stuff, i also hope at least Some One, Some Where, can appreciate the dumb little hack i made. this hack was very important to me when i made it, it was made before i even fully interacted with the hacking community. it has all sorts of dumb little ideas that i tried to do despite all the restrictions i had.. and it was a little soul crushing back then when no one payed much attention to the game i spent Months working on. nowadays, i think ive come to accept being a niche little game dev.. but also i cant help but wonder if there are people out there who like my strange little creations as much as i do...

anyways. Idont know. i probably am missing out a lot of things that i wanted to say. this whole thing is probably incomprehensible (i am currently writing this paragraph at 1 am on November 13). it has been Very Hard for me to Do Things or to even Write Down my thoughts on things. but i hope you appreciate this little thing i wrote about the thing i made.

Oh, And By the Way, pepsi in sonic 1 is open source on github. mostly for archival reasons but if for some reason you wish to mess around with it... it is there for u to do whatever u want with it. Lol.

okay so like.. we are not very wise with this stuff, we are really just starting out ourselves. i recommend going online and seeing what other people with more experience have to say, but here's just a few things that i've learned through this process so far:

something that i think really helps is getting your friends invested so they can motivate you. Psy was just an idea spinning around in Juice's mind for a few months before I was like DUDE you need to make this because I need to see it, so I started helping him make it. that's the thing is this comic would be nothing without teamwork, so I don't know what to say to someone making a comic on their own 😔

but definitely getting people you talk to a lot invested in your story early on does a lot. our best friend Bar is a huge reason why this comic exists, bc they care about the story as much as we do. you gotta have someone to get excited about ur comic with you!!!

another thing: for us, we are purely making this comic for ourselves, and we went into it with the idea in our heads that us and our friend would be the only people reading the comic and being fine with that. make ur comic for yourself and the people who are already with you first and foremost and don't worry about a vague faceless audience's perception. that's my advice. that mindset helps us get through so much during this process lol

sorry i don't really have any practical tips or anything cause like we really do not know what we are doing either. we've already learned so so much just with these first few chapters and we still have a looooooong way to go.

also i personally recommend hosting on your own website. you can do that for free with neocities, like we did! you can even use the same template! if you don't know how to code, they have lots of tutorials on there. i've been teaching myself to code a little bit for this thing, and it's so so worth it. (it is probably better for visibility to host ur comic on a site like tapas or webtoons, but honestly we don't really want the visibility that badly... we just want to tell a story to ourselves and our friends... that's all up to you! and even if you do host it on one of those websites, it's good to have a mirror of it on your own website for safety)

so something ive really needed to come over to even actually make this comic was to get my ideas out instead of letting them ferment in my mindspace. ive had this idea for a while now, but didnt make anything of it cause i had this desire to make sure i have every detail before starting, but if i did that, i would've never started it!! thats my only input like if ur the type to do this, dont let the perfectionist in u stop u from completing shit. there will be so many mistakes. u will want to go back to change them. just keep going forward :)

I'll preface my "criticism" by saying that i expected this show to be a corny and cringey mess and i was sure i wouldn't get through a full episode. But here i am, pleasantly surprised that i watched the season in almost one sitting! This show was easily one of the most satisfying viewing experience i've had all year. I can't wait for season 2

I don't really have any issues with the show but...

I would have loved to see more clips of jeremiah and conrad's relationship.

It would have been great if they showed longer clips of of old conrad's personality and Belly in the flashbacks so we could have had a better idea of how different conrad had become

Belly was wild this summer. It was not a good look for her to be hopping from brother to brother.

Jeremiah and Belly's relationship exudes best friend energy. Jelly seems very unnatural. I don't know what they could have done differently to make it seem less like Jeremiah was acting out of jealousy of his older bro and Belly just wanted to have a fisher boy date her

I did not care about laurel and cleveland's relationship...at all. Certainly didnt need to see a sex scene from them

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! first, I'm gonna be that annoying person and say I highly recommend reading the books if you haven't already. They explain so much and give you all the little flashbacks the show left out, and there's some chapters from the Fisher brothers' POVs in books 2 and 3 so you get to fully understand them. now that that's out of the way:

I agree with you 110% on everything. They definitely should have shown more flashbacks. It was weird for them to just be like "conrad's so different" and expect the audience to just understand what was happening. And to add to what you said, they should have shown more of Conrad & Jere and also Conrad, Jere, and Steven's friendship (which is one of my personal critiques). I wanted to see more flashbacks of them as kids, teasing Belly and excluding her from things and more of their friendship in present time. Hopefully next season they will take the time to add a few more flashbacks so we can see how their relationships have changed over time.

Yeah, Belly was wild. I didn't like how serious she got with Jeremiah bc the way she jumped between them was not a good look. If it makes you feel better, in the actual first book, she didn't play them like that. It was weird bc they tried to make her seem a little more mature and aware of things than in the books but then she was kissing the brothers back to back. Book Belly is one of the most realistic sixteen year old girl voices I've ever read and even though she was super naive, immature, and a little annoying/bratty, she knew what she wanted and that was Conrad. so they definitely did her a disservice making her seem so indecisive.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. I'm so glad i'm not the only one who thought Jelly felt weirdly unnatural. I loved their little moments together for the most part, but all their scenes and their chemistry felt more like best friends to me too, something was just off about their romantic chemistry. The way they showed his jealousy made him look like a jerk and idk either what would have made it better...it just needed to be toned down a little I guess. also, Jeremiah had way more chemistry with Taylor and I kinda wish they had explored that.

That sex scene was so uncalled for! and I wasn't a huge fan of them either...I didn't feel their chemistry I guess and I thought it was nice to see Laurel getting over her divorce and dating but it was weird how important they made Cleveland cause it seemed like just a fling type of energy to me. Laurel deserves to play the field a little. I def think they could have spent a little less time on them and put that time towards more flashbacks.

Taylor is even worse at first in the books but she gets a lot better as she grows. she has good intentions, like her heart is in the right place, but she just annoyed me. and it pissed me off that she kinda made Belly feel bad for still wanting Conrad even when Conrad was FINALLY starting to admit he has feelings for her. and when she teamed up with Jeremiah to get Belly to choose him I was screaming.
