Honestly honestly the most romantic moment of the entire series is when Neil talks about how he'd never gotten to travel for fun before and the Foxes are planning to take him to the mountains, and Kevin starts to protest that they can't go on vacation but stops because Andrew is holding a knife on him ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜ฉ like I don't know that's just just a sweet little moment to me, Andrew threatening Kevin if he takes this little chance for happiness from Neil
Uhhhh literally Andrew โ€œI-donโ€™t-careโ€ Minyard is the most romantic of ALL the foxes. My line of work revolves around intimacy and from all my training and studying let me tell you that man is a master at his craft.
Andrewโ€™s touch is beautiful and sacred; this thing he does not take easily, or give out kindly whatsoever. Yet with Neil itโ€™s as if he canโ€™t stop himself. We see it in how gently he tapes the garbage bags around Neilโ€™s injuries, wordlessly, without being asked. THATโ€™S intimacy. How he holds his neck to inspect his eyes when he removes his contacts, how he hands Neil cigarettes without a request, how he doesnโ€™t say a word while touching Kevin with the point of a blade because Neil deserves a fucking break. Sure, by technicalities, the shower scene from TKM is intimate by definition, but really itโ€™s in the kiss he ghosts across Neilโ€™s hip, in how he pats dry his broken skin afterwards. How can you look at him wordlessly dropping keys into Neilโ€™s palms, and think, yeah thereโ€™s no way Andrew could be romantic. Is he soft, is he gentle, as a person? No. But his minuscule actions are, his unmentioned gestures are. You just have to look and find them.
TKM just has some of the most subtly beautiful examples of a different flavour of love and intimacy that is so unusual and heartwarming itโ€™s insane. That shower scene drives me crazy when I think about how caring Andrew is in it. He came in with the tape and bags on his own volition, knowing Neil needed a shower and couldnโ€™t do it unattended. How he didnโ€™t take away Neilโ€™s autonomy by assuming he couldnโ€™t undress himself, instead waiting until he paused and couldnโ€™t go any further before he started to help. How he drapes the blanket over Neilโ€™s shoulders, again giving Neil a chance to struggle before wrapping it around him. They practically donโ€™t speak to each other really in that chapter at all apart from a bit of flirting in the shower. Because they donโ€™t need to, because Andrew knows how to love, how to be caring, how to wrap up the boy he almost lost in bubble wrap because if he loses him again, it wonโ€™t be pretty. He washes Neilโ€™s hair! He covers his wounds! He treats him gently when that is possibly the last word that could ever be used to describe Andrew. I feel like that scene was in part of course him just looking after Neil who can use approximately two square inches of his entire body, but in another part proving how serious he is about Neil. Everything changes between the two of them then, suddenly their actions more relaxed than hungry, not yet a given but instead now just a want.
I donโ€™t know. I canโ€™t help but see so much intimacy and romance in subtleties and things youโ€™d barely even notice, regardless of the people/the characters and their circumstances. I wouldnโ€™t use the word sweet to describe Andrew at all, but the things he does for Neil? The way that he loves Neil? The absolutely fucking sweetest.

earlier this week i made a post about how hartford stageโ€™s 1991 production of falsettos ended with whizzer on the aids memorial quilt. iโ€™ve actually managed to find the clip of the scene itself and itโ€™s beautiful

Steven Universe discourse still cracks me up like
Y'all got a show made by people who clearly love doing their job with explicit LGBT+ rep including non-binary rep and a majority female cast with a variety of body types and with multiple women POC voice actors regarding topics like mindfulness meditation, forgiveness, trauma, PTSD, establishing boundaries within relationships, compassion, with an overall message of forgiveness
And yet y'all seemed to wish for the series' demise at every moment and complained about the most insignificant details like that the storyboard artists had slightly inconsistent art styles
The messages and characters are so complex and compelling and the show gets you to think about difficult concepts and topics which flew over people's heads completely
People still think Steven should've idk wiped out the Diamonds? In the show where the whole message is that people are complicated representations of their experiences and trauma and people deserve second chances?
Idk I feel like a lot of "fans" who start discourse don't actually like the show, otherwise they'd actually absorb the basic premise of it

something i love about the grocery store fight is the way Eddie hits the "I'm angry because I miss you, you idiot" point and then immediately backtracks to hide behind Christopher. My sweet sweet damaged man, is okay for you to miss your best friend.

I just finished my Imperial Radch reread, and I was thinking about Breq arriving at Athoek Station immediately setting up in the Undergarden, when it hit me.
Aside from the political advantages of having good relationships with the Undergarden residents and Station, plus her genuine desire to make life better for the people there, Breq did it because that's what Lieutenant Awn would have done.
Breq handled the situation on Athoek very much like Awn handled Ors, by "ignoring what anyone else would have seen as the natural local hierarchy" (Skaaiats words, bit still) and making alliances with the people who have the least amount of power, while maintaining a working but impersonal relationship with the others (think Breq with the likes of Hetnys or Lusulun, and Awn with Jen Shinnan).
I don't know, this may have been obvious to everyone else but it just hit me and I swear I almost started crying right then and there. She loved her so much it hurts

LIES!
What's stopping me from just lying to the twst boys. Like what's stopping me from plagiarising other people's work and saying that's my life like
~
Ace: Hey Prefect, what were your parents like?
Me: Oh well, my mom was an assassin and my dad was a super spy, and my dad adopted me when I was a kid. We were all pretending to be a family for our own reasons, but eventually my parents fell in love and we became a real family.
Ace: Great Seven...
~
Deuce: Wait, so your world just doesn't have magic?
Me: Well not exactly, we actually have something more like superpowers. Y'know, some people can manipulate fire, some can change gravity, some can even copy other people's powers. But like a third of the population don't have those powers, and I'm just unlucky.
~
Random NPC: I bet you can't wait to get home.
Me: No, this place got actually got me out of a timeloop. My town's stuck in this timeloop where leading up to a festival some weird thing happens to everyone in town and drives us insane. My friends kept like killing and torturing eachother only for time to reset and I had to expeirence it all over again. So I'm pretty happy to be here.
Random NPC: O_O
~
Riddle: What was your old school like?
Me: Weird. To say the least...
Riddle: How so?
Me: Well everyone was really and I mean REALLY into gambling. I mean like there was an entire system for gambling, pretty much your worth hinged on how well you could gamble. And people seemed to get oddly y'know about gambling...
Riddle: Too stunned to speak

Billy adopting Eleven as a second little sister.
Billy chauffeuring Eleven and Max to school every day acting like itโ€™s the biggest burden and his greatest annoyance in life yet always interjecting whenever he hears them talking about boy troubles or bully troubles to offer (sometimes questionable) advice because he loves them and heโ€™ll be damned if anyone messes with his girls. It happens so often that whenever theyโ€™re having an issue, like dealing with a shitty teacher or figuring out the perfect way to get back at Dustin or Lucas or Mike during some prank war, they purposefully talk louder so that Billy will insert himself and offer his opinion.
Billy never shying away when Eleven asks him questions, even if sheโ€™s asking about uncomfortable topics like relationships and sex, because itโ€™s honestly next to impossible to embarrass him and heโ€™d rather she hear it straight than get confused by peopleโ€™s gross innuendos. She feels safe asking him just about anything because she knows he wonโ€™t dance around the answers.
Billy waiving his rights to the radio and letting Max and Eleven pick the music whenever one of them is upset, keeping a stash of their favorite cassettes in the glove box just in case. He doesnโ€™t dig their music, but he will dashboard drum and sing along to Madonna just to make them laugh. He also knows their order at all the local fast food joints, can swing through a drive-thru or pop into the ice cream shop and order for all three of them without asking what the girls want, and has been known to detour to their favorite spots when he thinks that one of them needs a pick-me-up.
Billy letting Eleven play with his hair products when he catches her watching him get ready for a date, taking the time to tell her what everything is for and showing her how to use it all. He even gets her some bottles of her own when she finds something that she likes.
Billy teaching Eleven and Max how to drive in an empty parking lot, surprisingly calm as he guides them through the motion. Max is a natural, though sheโ€™s definitely something of a speed demon. Eleven is much more cautious and is a little heavy on the brake, but Billy is shockingly patient (even if every rough stop has him wincing for his poor Camaro). Hopper is honestly too much of a nervous wreck to teach El himself, try as he might, so sheโ€™s pretty lucky to have Billy there to help her.
Billy being Max and Elevenโ€™s emergency contact. They drank too much at a party? Call Billy. Some guy is making them feel unsafe? Call Billy. Their car broke down? Find a payphone and call Billy. He will drop everything to help them, no matter where he is or what heโ€™s doing. He has held their hair back and made them greasy hangover food. He keeps all their secrets, covers for them if he has to, always makes sure that they are safe because, again, those are his girls.
Billy lowering his guard around Eleven and Max, trusting them more than he trusts anyone else because, time and time again, theyโ€™ve proven that they are one hundred percent in his corner. Sure, they bicker with him, pester him, push his buttons. But itโ€™s because they love him, and they feel safe with him, and he feels safe with them, too.
Billy and his two kid sisters, Eleven and Max.

For everyone saying that Bestie is only ever dying because Blake's there and it's his fault because he should leave, he did. He tried to and succeeded for years. Bestie was the one who would constantly reach out and after a while he broke and just couldn't take it anymore. It's the exact same thing as Avior, he dragged Starlight back into a bad situation because he couldn't take being alone without them anymore. The only difference is Avior and Starlight got out, and I doubt Blake ever will. Both instances were caused (probably) by sovereigns as well.

please talk more about superfly i'd love to hear your thoughts :] glad to know i'm not alone in how many thoughts i have about this oversized mutant house fly
absolutely iโ€™m sick and have nothing else to do except rest so thank you for the opportunity to rant :] !!
Okay okay so we can all agree Superfly as major black coding right? his father was black man, his voice actor is a black man, the world hates him and his people just for the way they look!
A lot of his backstory can be seen through the lenses of a traumatized black man. The government assaulted and ended up killing his father, he was forced to have to take care of his siblings all by himself at a young age and had to resort to a life of crime in order to be able to provide for himself and his siblings. He had to fill the role of a father for his siblings growing up and likely never allowed himself to be fully vulnerable around any of them because he had to project himself as a strong pillar for them all to lean on. So his got major issues with basically zero emotional support to sum up.
And when he decided to give humanity a chance for the sake of his family it went horribly wrong. Much the same like Splinter and his boys, Superfly and his siblings were just taking a simple walk around the city sight seeing, but people saw them walking around and saw a threat instead and either tried to attack them or ran away screaming! But, unlike Splinter when had to run away from the chaos Superfly had to end up killlkng a guy to getting chased.
Splinter much like Superfly also had to raised his family all by himself when he got mutated, but unlike Superfly he got mutated as an fully matured adult. While he does also have his own big bundle of issues, being that his biggest issue was about how lonely he felt in the world (a feeling that gets remedied by the company of his children) Splinter was both fully grown and relatively well-adjusted for a street rat and thus was much more likely to emotionally handle becoming a father easier than Superfly was a little kid himself.
But here the biggest difference between the two as characters when Splinterโ€™s wariness of humanity became hatred, Splinter learnt that only way to protect his family and stay safe from humans was to run away and hide.
When Superfly wariness for humanity became hatred, Superfly learnt the only way to protect his family and stay safe was to fight back. THATโ€™S why he later becomes so obsessed with the idea of getting rid of humanity altogether!! In his mind getting rid of humanity is the only way to stay safe and that also why he looks down on Splinterโ€™s way of keeping his boys safe because in his eyes his not doing his all to keep them safe, his not willing to kill for his family like he is.

I feel like early Sam and Darlinโ€™ were similarly angry from their previous relationships and thatโ€™s what ultimately brought them closer together. Like, theyโ€™re angry and hurt and they look at each other and think โ€œoh, you get itโ€. Just like them agreeing to handle the Quinn situation together brought them closer in such personal, vulnerable ways. Especially on Darlinโ€™s side!!
