I said this months ago, but by the end of this year Frontiers is gonna be a completely different game from the one that released back in November 2022, and now that we know when DLC 3 is going to come out, it might be the best time to play it again from start to finish.
Each update addressed something about the base game that wasn't up to par: side modes and replayability, challenges, gameplay and controls... and now the final update is tackling what is still one of the biggest weakness of the game: the final chapter.
I'd say I'm surprised but dataminers found out back in June all the stuff that got confirmed today: reworked Ouranos, revised story with playable Tails, Knuckles and Amy, new final boss, new transformation and more.
So... get ready :)

A few of my thoughts on the new episode because why not
The symbolism in this episode was great!
Akutagawa's web covers Atsushi's entire figure and shows his powerlessness. Atsushi is in an impossible situation: to escape, he has to hurt Akutagawa, but he doesn't want to do that π
Sigma says these words about Fyodor but it looks like Atsushi thinks this way about Akutagawa. This is a very well done transition tbh
Fyodor looks like some kind of god in this scene, which in my opinion shows well that he is aiming for a savior (when Dazai asks him to die, Fyodor is shown as his savior who brings him what he asks for)
The way Sigma looks at Dazai at the beginning and later when he realizes that Dazai doesn't want to hurt him π

I think they did it perfectly like in the manga

I had a feeling Alex Brightman wasn't going to just do the Beetlejuice voice again and I'm glad to be right about that. That said there is a lot more gravel to the voice than the pilot.
I'm glad he seems to retain that whiny Victorian-y way of speaking. Also cool that he still enunciates his S's like a snake, with his tongue sticking out each time he does.
It was gonna be hard to match Stamper's performance no matter who replaced it tbh. I imagine it could've been possible to pick someone with a more faithful/soundalike voice. I'm sure Brightman already being familiar with Vivziepop through Helluva Boss influenced his casting.
While I sort of wish it WAS closer to the pilot voice, Stamper needed to be replaced no matter what and I think Alex will do good with the role. He's done a tremendous job with Fizzi and is as talented as a singer as the rest of the cast. And he's super fun in the clip! I just hope his voice is different enough that I'm not distracted by how similar it might sound to his other characters.

it's called that bc it starts off with something very heavy happening to Jason (steph and jason are grabbed by black mask and he knows jason won't talk but he thinks he can make steph talk by hurting jason) and is, essentially, the bats feeling like shit and Jason wanting them to leave him alone and no one having any boundaries and Bruce assuming Jason will do something vengeful. also Roy is there but the more I learn about Roy outside of fanon, the more I hesitate to write JayRoy (but also I like iiiit)
and also Jason says: βBut thatβs the problem, Bruce. I keep my promises, but you never trust me. And youβre a liar, but I always believe you.β

sooo true, anon. unfortunately we live in a world where people hate women π but i will say you're right, it's gotten a lot better recently. i think it has to do with a combination of me really curating my audience over the past year, and in general things are very different now compared to when i started in 2020. more genderlocked companions, more trans characters, and it's pretty common now for games to have poly romance options, as well as love interests that will pursue other characters if the player doesn't show interest in them. (the last 2 being things people really hated Merry for in the beginning)
people definitely still don't like it, but i think they are more of a loud minority now than the loud majority like they were previously. which has been a really nice change to see :-)
#or maybe im just in my own little world after annoying everyone away LOL#but i've definitely noticed a change recently regarding Merry#i used to get a Lot of messages about how much ppl hated her or wanted to beat her up#very normal things#but now i definitely feel that she's become more of a favorite#again i think that's also largely bc i have a predominantly trans audience now compared to before#and my opinions and uhhhh. on one hand I wanna write my fic ideas wherein my marvel oc gets sent to the alternate universe of Gotham and hijinks ensue whilst she tries to survive and get back and the batfam and such slowly learn more info abt her world and how it's being threatened atm and she needs to go back and help and whatnot.
But on the other hand, the readers wouldn't know the marvel related backstory of this OC and would have. No context for her going in
But ALSO then the readers would know abt as much abt this mysterious figure as the batcrew do, and get to learn via flash backs and her slowly revealing info to them as safety allows
Then there's also just a general. Idk if there's any sort of oc etiquette when it comes to writing oc centered fics? My brain goes so hogwild when I read anything that I usually avoid oc fics other people write just bc I usually read and enjoy fics at face value but I also go "now what would happen if this OC was here?" And that gets real complicated when other people's ocs are involved

rpgs are kinda like comfort food to me where theyre very cozy to come back to and just indulge in, especially pokemon where no one team is gonna be exactly the same, but dear god i need to take a break from them every once in a while or it risks feeling samey anyways
#yeah im immediately taking a break from X cause after cassette beasts idk if i can go back to regular pokemon quite as quickly#i still need to finish gti. insert sad clown noises#i might try to hype myself up to finish the file by doing more brainstorming for my own interpretation (?) of it#honestly if it felt worth it id love to do comic or prose adaptations of the story like several people do#like obt and milos from home where the story eventually gets drastically different from the original#but im also not sure how much i would change. like. idk i like a lot of pmd2's story as-is#if i did have the energy or the time to do it tho id probably pick gti or psmd#those have big changes that i think change the contexts of some scenes quite a bit so getting into those could be cool#rt also has changes in my brain but i dont think itd be as fun to actually write out#notably my ''psmd!hero is also a reincarnation'' and ''the gti team is the HAPPI organization'' bits#cause i havent totally thought those out yet with the rest of the plot or anything and itd be fun to divulge in those#the con with doing gti tho is like... that game is already full of characters skldfdslfs#so how many ocs could i add without feeling overwhelmed...#echoed voice
