there's definitely a parallel with edward elric giving up his arm for al's soul/life and scar's brother very literally giving him his arm to save scar's life, and i was trying to come up with something meaningful out of that but my 2am brain went "oh like star wars and hand/limb chopping!" and immediately started playing that video of obi-wan chopping people up with a little ding each time
