there's just something about the idea of crawling into bang chan's lap while he's busy working because you just want to spend time with him that gets to me. you're not trying to bother him or distract him, because you know he's in the middle of something, but you still want to be close, y'know? you want to spend time with him without bothering him too much. it starts off as you just leaning over his back, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. maybe laying your cheek on his head as you watch him work. he hums, acknowledging you, grasping at your arm and rubbing a thumb along your wrist. eventually you move around him, quietly crawling into his lap, settling in with his arm now hooked around your waist. you hum along to a new track he's working on and pepper little kisses along his jaw. brush your nose along the column of his neck. you're not trying to distract him, honest. he's just so very touchable and you're only human. it's all very soft and quiet. truly just enjoying each other's presence.

I really adore how empathetic and honest Basim is in mirage. It's such a stark contrast to the cunty manipulative man we see in valhalla. They are both manipulative and know what to say to get what they want but valhalla Basim is more gross and crusty about it while mirage Basim is much more genuine and polite about it. please forgive me for the fact that i use screencaps because i don’t know how to gif, but i just wanted to point out this part. when maurice hears a piano playing, he obviously assumes there’s finally a person in this castle. so he puts the extraordinary candelabra down and takes a moment to tidy himself up. wipes his hands, fixes hair, straightens coat. then he goes to investigate. and i don’t know, maybe i can’t word it right, but there’s just something in there about maurice’s pride.

i don’t think he’s ever been a wealthy man, in fact i think he’s always been a rather poor one. nowadays (meaning, during the movie) is probably the most well-off he’s ever been, and i still don’t think they do amazing. my point is, he’s probably faced classism all his life, both because of his low financial status and because of his profession. artists are generally considered crazy at this point in time, especially poor ones. all this to say, it just touches my heart a certain way, when he finds himself in this grand castle, and hears there may be a person to greet, he takes a moment to make sure he looks as presentable as he can. he’s just always been on survival mode, trying his best to fit in with society in order to make things work for himself and his family.

i’ve touched on this in one very specific line in this fic of mine set when belle is a kid. she’s in an argument with another little girl, and the girl calls belle dirty.

“They called me dirty!” Belle shouted, pointing at them. She didn’t see the way it stung Maurice’s pride to know she had been called such a word.

i don’t know!! i just feel that pang of fear that he’s lived with all his life. he’s trying so hard to make a better life for his daughter, and i think comments like that just remind him that they’ll never truly be accepted in society, no matter what they do. and it’s clear that societal acceptance isn’t extremely important to either of them, but it is also clear that it still hurts them both in different ways, if the “do you think i’m odd?” conversation is any indication.

wondering if koga or adonis are going to get some more character development or like Not Really, because. koga's got his stuff in the ! era, which, fine! new players have absolutely no idea what happened and how important his current dynamic with rei is, it's cool, hurts only a little bit!, meanwhile adonis is still... trapped in his unfortunate character trope... that i doubt he'll ever break out of.

i'm not expecting either of them to do a complete 180 obv, but i do actually want to see koga figure himself out as, how to put it, an individual musician with his own style*? and if i have to read about how adonis is big scary huge and terrifying** at first glance, but actually, wow! what a surprise! kind, quiet and gentle once you talk to him even ONE more time, i'm going to snap.

*i'm just kinda biting my hands here because there are bighuge neons in my brain pointing out that koga's path should have him as a some sorta representative of undead ? temporary leader perhaps? considering everything we've learned in crossroads AND the fact that he mentions in his initial story how he's the least popular/known member and he wants to change it On Top Of wanting to face rei as equals, like. augh. put him in a situation please
