i AM #1 isabel fan but i am and always will be the #not1butstillprettyupthere max fan. max puckett is up there as one of my favorite protagonists of all time and i feel like so much of what makes max interesting either A) gets pushed aside in fandom for the sake of shipping b) get pushed aside in canon for the sake of snappy writing.

i love how fiercely protective he can be while doubling as a massive coward in the right situation. hes guarded and untrusting and makes snap judgements of people to keep up his Cool Guy Aloof New Kid schtick but risks his life for isabel after only three? ish? days of knowing her. and then CONTINUES to not take shit. he calls people out when something happens that bothers him- not to start a fight, but as a verbal acknowledgment that he’s not gonna stand around passively when he hears some fucked shot going down. and he doesn’t hold grudges! except his bat he points stuff out and then proceeds to get over it immediately because its a pain in the ass but not enough to make him waste his own time thinking about it.

i think max and isabel are so sooo good for each other theyre like soulmates that were never supposed to meet to me. interpret that statement however u want. idc what kind of relationship they have their dynamic transcends it all imo theyre each others Person. they Get It. and they know each other. max got thrown out of a train protecting isabel. isabel threw herself out of a train to protect max. and 20 minutes prior they were sitting in complete bored silence completely apathetic towards each other. THATS nuts 2 me. thats the shit that gets me.

max is a physical badass (gymnastics, hitball, spirits sometimes, broke his arm to protect johnny) but hes SUUUUUCH a massive coward he like gives in IMMEDIATELY if he gauges a situation as ‘not worth it’ (tells suzy the true nature of the AC after minimal prodding just bc he wanted to get away from her freak ass, ditched serge in the hallway because he couldn’t be bothered to listen to his student counsel talk). ed thinks hes a coward (accurate) and that isabel started hanging with max because max is not a coward (inaccurate) but max has more self preservation (dont look at what i just wrote about breaking his arm its an outlier) than almost anyone in the comic.

he’s a good protagonist because he offers a straight man for mayviews wackyness to bounce off of, which in comparison makes him the cynic, but he’s also usually genuinely really nice and encouraging to people he just meets (alex and the recorder, giving pj pep talks). he never lets his cynicism turn him into a jerk, hes just sarcastic and doesn’t take bullshit lying down. i wrote something on this earlier that i don’t remember well enough to reiterate here but i will ALWAYS be a max puckett fan. when i was 16 i shaved my head and after doodling myself someone reblogged it tagged as #max puckett so now we have an Assigned Kinship At Reblog (AKAR) blood bond

Anyway this is my FAVORITE. BIRD. And more people need to talk about her!!!!

So first of all there's the main thing they're known for - being the ONLY known vertabrate whose diet consists mainly (between 70 and 90 PERCENT!!!!!!) of BONE!!!!!!

ALSO however! This bird is POSSIBLE evidence of non-human animal using COSMETICS!!!! Y'see, they are naturally mostly white in coloration, but they roll in iron-rich mud and dust, thus dyeing their feathers a rich red color! Interestingly, Bearded Vultures, a primarily solitary and somewhat territorial animal, seem to be more respectful of and submissive to others of their species who have more red to their feathers. Though it is worth noting, as these birds live in very high altitudes, that we havent been able to observe them in the wild enough to prove the connection between dyed hue and perceived dominance.

Also i seem to remember in some poll (genuinely cant remember if it was urs or not) the Bearded Vulture was beat by a bird whose main notable trait was commiting fratricide - something that the Bearded Vulture ALSO does! The mother lays two eggs, one egg hatches about a week before the other, and upon the second egg hatching one chick (almost always the older one) kills and eats the other. I dont usually share that bit cause it would turn a lot of folks off from my Favorite Bird Ever but it really bothered me how that poll went down lol (lighthearted) (not actually mad)

but the more genuine answer is that i made friends on tumblr pretty closely to how i make friends in real life: slowly and organically 😵‍💫

the best advice i can give for trying to make friends on tumblr is to be earnest and enthusiastic about the things you care about, and to seek out others with the same interests! there are a lot of people on tumblr who have kind of quiet/unobtrusive blogs: they don't talk in the tags, they don't make original posts, they dont ask/answer asks, etc; and those blogs usually tend to fade into the background, because for a lot of people that's their intention for using tumblr in that way. but in my experience, i've found and made most of my mutuals/friends on here by being vocal and enthusiastic and personable!

make jokes/commentary in the tags of reblogs- this will make you memorable both to the person you're reblogging from, and to the people who see you on their dash, i've started multiple dm conversations with new mutuals based on tags that they or i have made on a post, that sparked an organic conversation-- especially artists and authors of fan content you like; reblogging a post of their art/fic with complimentary tags is an EASY way to make friends with people whose art you like and respect- I'm speaking from experience from both sides of that exchange! so many artists and authors on tumblr are so friendly and so lovely and LOVE to get feedback and thoughts and compliments about their work, and even if it doesn't spark a friendship i always think it's a good thing to put more happiness in the world

reblog ask games and send in asks to people you follow/people that you're mutuals with! most people love to talk/share about themselves, and it's a great way to compliment people/ ask questions to someone whom you don't feel comfortable direct messaging with yet!! the common culture on tumblr is to send an ask for an ask game to the person you're reblogging the game post from, and i think that's a great way to get footholds in with people you want to be friends with !!

i don't know how common this is, but for me i kind of got naturally integrated into a big d20 friendgroup/mutual circle a couple years back, and i think it's a really easy way to make new/more friends- check out who your mutuals are reblogging from or sending asks to/recieving them from frequently! look for people with additional shared interests!

participating in fan creation events is also a really great way to meet new people in a fan space, especially if you write/draw/etc-- i've met and become really good friends with quite a few people through d20 gift exchanges and big bangs over the last few years, and it's a good time of year to keep your eyes peeled for gift exchange fan events right now !!

finally, if there's someone you think is really cool and you want to be friends with them: just message them! one of my dearest and oldest mutuals and friends on here started our friendship by direct messaging me entirely out of the blue "hey you seem cool and we seem to have similar interests, feel free to ignore me but i think we should be friends!" and that was like. four years ago<3 (hiii mer!! xox) sometimes it won't work, and sometimes it'll fizzle out or be awkward, but don't let that dissuade you!! you'll find your people, just keep looking <3

tldr: be natural, be human. it's really easy to blend into just another nameless faceless blog on tumblr, so using the tags and the asks feature and having a distinctive url/header/summary/pinned post is a good way to make yourself memorable, which in my experience is the first step to being seen as approachable/friendly to other people on here!! be yourself, and find a niche/group/media/interest you're passionate about, and seek out people with like interests!! tumblr can seem really daunting i know, and especially when you're a new or small blog it can feel really intimidating when all the other blogs around you seem to already have their established little mutual friend groups; but remember- we're all just people here!! and a lot of us are always looking for a new friend <3

so some of you may noticed that i changed my username, you can still call me as yoko but once the revamping is started, you will no longer call me by that name. i want to seperate myself from that name that made me known on the smg4 fandom.

this is a very long explanation so its under the cut, and note to people on tumblr around: it contains controversal stuffs happening on glitch productions

this change is because of the smg4 controversy that happened recently, with the main one being taris old va (celeste notley-smith) being replaced by a new one. which is okay at first because celeste is a mother and a teacher and needs to focus on other stuffs and yadda yadda, until you found out that she fired from glitch after 6 years.

now picture this: you are one of the first voice actor/actress from a recently new company, only to get replaced by a new one after years of voicing a character that you dearly love. the new tari va (lottie baurne) almost sounds like her old va and thats okay, but this situation is awful. not only that, robyn (smg2s former voice actress) is stepping down from glitch because of that. she recently made a video about this controversy on her channel "anime america", so please make sure to watch it.

yeah yeah i know jasmine yang (the voice director) made an apology, but that… is just not that good. sometimes we always forget things, but her apology? this is meh. im hoping to see celestes respond about her apology so the situation will be calm once again (like it was used to be… back in the early years). im also looking forward for the lerdwichagul brothers' responds as well.

and about the other controversy, we got glassdoor ratings about employee mismanagement coming from ex-workers, thanks to the ceo… aka kevin. i dont understand why kevin was hated by everyone back then, but it turns out that they are right. kevin is a completely different person with cameras OFF. that one scene from the episode "smg4… are you okay?" where smg4 tortures toads into manipulation by making videos for his channel became more obvious with this one. the good side is we havent heard about luke (smg4) yet.

on the other hand, i will probably start a career as a utau producer once i have speakers for my pc, dowloaded utau, and practiced how to use that software (hence the "prod" on my url). there is a chance that kikyuune aiko will be my main. smg4 stuffs will still be around, however you will see less smg4 stuffs here due to the controversy and the fact that this is a multifandom account aside from my likes. buuuuut that does not mean ill stop working on pandemic love distortion. (for those who didnt know about this one, its a wip smg34 fanfic made by me that was put on developmental hiatus due to irl stuff)

ereyesterday our their of pissed suggested getting into an outpatient psychward and told us to think about it. and silver[headmate] made a post on the tumbler saying that this could be a bad idea because somewhat recently i made a hole in a wall and less than a week ago Lyra messed up a cupboard. as if we're the only ones who on occasion damage stuff when angered. this is literally so mean for no reason.

also. a few months ago shinra had an accident with a knife. and we got a fun new 1 inch long scar and possibly a little bit of nerve damage or something. and we were supposed to get some reminder tetanus shot around a month after that since i had no idea when was my previous tetanus shot. and i uhhhhhhh didn't get it since i'm scared of doctors, and it would probably seem quite weird if i went to a doctor about this now

last sunday i was in some social studies class or some other shit. and the teacher said something about how lgbt people were never oppressed in this country. which is a very bold thing to say as someone living in a country in which like a quarter of the area declared itself a "lgbt free zone" and only calmed down a little when the european onion told them that that's probably illegal. and i decided to argue with the teacher a bit. one of the things she said was that sometimes there's dudes in pup masks on pride parades, which invokes disgust and thus should be banned, and. idk why but i kinda expected teachers to have a bit more common sense than 14 year old twitter users. also i came to school wearing a spiked dog collar on a regular basis. [for reasons unrelated to kink.]

well. good thing i'm failing every single one of my classes lmao. at least i won't be invoking disgust in fragile old ladies

x readers! I never really liked reading or writing x readers ever until recently. I really like second person as a device and I just refuse to acknowledge things that use like blanks or the Y/N device lol. Realizing this totally changed the way I like to write. I think second person is excellent for storytelling. Leaving the reader insert extremely vague and writing from the perspective of the character is SO fun.

This completely nonsensical fallout raider gangbang. I rarely enjoy reading or writing OC x OC works, but I really unlocked something in my brain with this fic. I am so in love with the characters, they still live in my head. I wanted it to be SILLY DUMB and it was just so much fun to write. This is the most "me" I think of anything I've ever written, and I fully just went balls to the wall ridiculously porny and it was so much fun.

dude ANYTHING by my buddy @ventiswampwater (here's her ao3) every single one of her fics make me INSANE. We have such similar ideas of characterization for this DUMB movie that for some reason we're obsessed with. OH! This Yautja harem x OC work I found, literally I've never had the patience for LONG LONG fics before but I honestly wish there was MORE of this. I loved!! the characters and everyone involved, the story was so smutty and good. You dont need to know shit about predator lore this fic may as well be its own story. This fanfic is better than any smutty xenophilia/monsterfuckery romance book that i've ever read.

@brimbrimbrimbrim 's Vigilante x reader fic was so much fun, characterized SO well. It was silly fun and I loved it hahaha like I love this author but this fic really stuck out to me hahaha.

I'd like to just bite the bullet and submit to publications as well as random magazine challenges or whatever else. I often debate whether I should or shouldnt for so long that I then miss the deadline for the actual challenge lmao! I submitted to a few horror magazines as well as some poems to indie publications asking for submissions this year but I'd like to just submit as much as I possibly can because fuck it y'know. This year, I got ONE poem selected to be in a book and then it was actually removed from the eventual publication coming out in 2023 so like... lmao?

New Works:

I've actually been editing my short story horror anthology off and on, cleaning it up and formatting it and all the boring shit. I'm looking to trad pub or at least submit certain stories to challenges. I'm also hoping to saddle up and adapt my raider gangbang fanfic into a more developed story that I'll eventually KDP publish. Here's how to start a tumblr rp blog!

First. Make a new account. Not a sideblog. Sideblogs are fine but it can be confusing and messy and it's just not the ideal experience for ur first blog

Pick out a url that relates to your character and their themes/motifs or the themes you want to write

Pick out a container or minimalist theme on @theme-hunter a simple one! Doesnt have to be too fancy!

Make, commission, or draw some graphics. Some people will make incredibly detailed icons. I got lazy on this blog honestly and I hate all my graphics so we're going thru it, struggle bus on limpfisted dot tumblr dot com, but a lot of people have a nice aesthetic header, a nice aesthetic icon, and a nice aesthetic pinned post. Plus promos

You don't honestly have to do that, but its fun, and you get to learn photoshop editing, which is a great skill that impresses my parents. U also don't have to use photos hope, i use clip studio paint on my tablet, and tbh i like it better bc its not so fucking SLOW. I always used to make my own .psds anyway so it's whatever. There a lots of tutorials, Google it, but have fun with it!

Go to the tumblr search and look for a Google doc template or carrd template. This is for your rules/about page. Its mobile friendly for suckers like me without laptops. Write basic rules (ie no minors shit of that nature), then write your characters backstory and important information.

Then head over to ur brand new tumblr and click the new post button. Make a pinned post. Put ur little graphic. Put a little poem. Put a link to your carrd/Google doc. Put ur online name pronouns and age range and ur characters name and pronouns. PIN that shit.

Then go and hit the new post button again and put the little graphics you made for your promo. Write a little poem. Tag it "bg3 rp" and "dnd rp" and "oc rp"

Then bobs ur goddamn uncle. You're a roleplayer. You did it!

wow, i really really hate the new post editor

when i make an image post, that bar thing that says drag you photo or url here just stay open up there after you’ve already added photos??? and i have the option to close it? so i get to manually close it every single time just so i can see how my post is going to look??

and when adding tags, you can’t just click anywhere in the tag field, you have to click the teeny tiny little plus sign? boo, major downgrade

also its HELLA ugly and clunky looking. like look at all these big dumbass grey bubbles taking up WAY too much screen real estate??? wtf

like i cant even see the post buttons with just a single not large image (its 303px tall) in it???

ok disclaimers: i was not personally involved in the parastucking this is mostly stuff i remember from lurking in both fandoms around 2012 and therefore the details or timelines may be inaccurate because it's 2023 and 2012 was 11 years ago what the sodding fuck

but basically im sure you know that there used to be homestuck references in paranatural (ex. GENUINE DISTRESS!), and that zack morrison did the first and last comics of paradox space as well as made some merch for hussie and also parts of [s] game over (i.e. they used to talk)

back when comments were open on pnat's site, it was clear from reading comments that there was a lot of overlap b/w hamsteak fans and paranatural fans

(And i guess earthbound fans too come to think of it, the overlap pipeline was like earthbound --> homestuck --> paranatural --> undertale coming later in 2015.)

i can confirm the above pipeline worked for me at least because that was the exact order i discovered all of these in

there were also percy jackson references here and there because i specifically remember someone saying "move over jason grace there's a new weatherboy in town" somewhere around isaac revealing he had lightning powers and there definitely was a paranatural percy jackson au but that's neither here nor theer)

so naturally if you look at really old blogs (think fyeahparanatural which mercifully is still up) you find a lot of little crossovers here and there but relevant to the purposes of ur au is that a lot of people drew characters in their god tiers (there was never like, a consensus on who got what god tier everyone seemed to have a diff take on it)

idk how many of these artists are still active in the community let alone tumblr itself but assuming the blogs aren't deactivated you could shoot them an ask or two and see if they respond

what sucks is that there used to be a paranatural tumblr that was specifically dedicated to crossovers and they for SURE had documented all homestuck crossovers but i can't remember the url and i have no guarantee that's even still up but if someone has that PLEASE GIVE US THE URL

there also might've been parastuck stuff on deviantart just going off the timeline of homestuck and paranatural being popular at the same time around like 2011-2013 but i'm not super familiar with that content if it exists (i'll look into it tho seeing as i've recently been trying to track down bobby pendragon content on deviantart for a completely diff fandom)

Rank the fossil fighters games best to worst?

1. champions 2. original 3. frontier Ill be completely honest, the only things that I ever did as kid was completely ignore all story, all characters, all dialogue, all that kind of shit. when I played these games the only thing I gave a shit about was: -mine fossils -clean fossils -fight the fuck out of vivosaurs and that was it. so from that perspective, the original was decent. some people find it annoying that there was a small cutscene every time you selected a move but I thought it was dope as shit. my 10 year old ass thought it the coolest fucking thing ever seeing these anime dinosaurs just destroy other anime dinosaurs with their teeth and fire breath and whatever. However. I never beat the original game. I got to the underwater section and I was like "you know wat, I dont think I want to play anymore" so I didnt. but when champions came out I was like "mom!!!! I need it!!!!!" and she thought I was full of shit because I never beat the original. but as it turns out, champions is fucking awesome. the battle system was improved, they added like 80 more guys you could collect, they added the miraculous fossil system, they added the big fucking fossils that took like 20 minutes to clean. and the shit they did was very simple where they made just a straight forward dig site progression (story > new dig site > story > new dig site) that was really nice for 11 year old me who didnt read anything. plus they added those crazy as shit attacks that you could only achieve via a specific team build. I loved it so much that Ive beaten it 3 times. so you could imagine my excitement when frontiers came out, 13 year old me was like "ah yes, they never forgot about us fossil fans" but they did because nintendo didnt even make this one. exploring and fossil cleaning was improved (car mechanic was fun to me and you didnt need the skull to revive a vivosaur) but the actual vivosaurs themselves and the battle system got absolutely fucked. they removed like half the vivosaurs from the previous game and you could no longer build your own vivosaur team because of like the buddy system. the main argument Ive heard for frontier is "ok everything sucks but the characters are good!!" but Ill say it, now that Im 20 and have gained reading comprehension, no the fuck theyre not lmao. they got the same level of thought as the previous games characters, but now they look like theyre from a 2011 anime. anyway. fossil fighters is one of those tiny nintendo franchises that were actually really really good, but it didnt sell for shit and that means nintendo is never ever going to give a shit about it ever again. but there is a modern game series that is eerily similar to fossil fighters and that is monster hunter stories. monster hunter stories only got two games but the battle system is almost exactly like fossil fighters. down to the small cutscenes for each move. I really love the shit out of monster hunter stories 2 (it has monsters from mhw, thats why lol) and Ive beaten it only once, but talking about it right now really makes me want to play it again. are its characters and stories good? no. but the animation and gameplay make up for it, and I feel exactly how I felt playing champions for the first time. its dope as shit. anyway uh, if you like frontier or the original more than champions then thats fine I do not care. also I formally apologize for having this url and rarely engaging in fossil fighters content but I also think that is funny.
