went to a concert last night for the first time in four years!!

(like a proper proper concert. i saw trixie mattel in february 2020 and saw a beatles cover band last summer after a baseball game lol. but to me, those weren’t like proper concerts. i took seeing trixie as it was a comedy show with music, but i suppose you could consider it a concert 😅 and the beatles tribute band was kinda small and idk didn’t feel like a proper concert to me. if that makes any sense…? lol. but yeah, the last proper concert i went to was 2019 and i saw cher 😅 anywaaayy lol)

i saw Rick Springfield 🥰

i haven’t been to one of his shows since 2015 or 2016 (i think, i can’t remember for sure atm lol) but i’m so damn happy i went last night 💙

he puts on such a fantastic show!

he talked very openly about his mental health at one point and dealing and struggling with depression and it just really touched me. at one point while he was talking about depression, he said that to anyone else dealing or struggling with it to know that it’s not their fault. he said it’s not our fault that our brains are like this. but it doesn’t mean we’re broken. it’s just something that’s really shitty that we deal with. but we can push through it. it’s okay to feel low, but please don’t give up.

and that really meant a lot. it was so nice to see someone be so vulnerable and so open about their struggles. especially in that kind of setting. he sang a song he wrote when he was at his lowest and now he sings it every night while he’s on tour and he said it helps lift him up and always makes him so happy. and idk… that just was so sweet to see that side of him.

Also, you would never guess that he’s gonna be 74 in a few weeks! i don’t think he looks like it and he certainly doesn’t move like it 😄 he was jumping and running around the stage and went into the audience and it was just awesome!

and i was with some of my favorite people and despite being soaked by the rain multiple times yesterday and being damp and trying to dry off during the concert lol, it was such an amazing night! 🥰🖤❤️
