Mugi/Byakuren Outfit Swap
A friend of mine suggested Byakuren for the swap.
I still think Yuyuko is a closer fit personality-wise, but Byakuren isn't far behind and it also lets me do this fun pose. Things evened out in the end
Still debating on drawing more swaps, but for now, I'm glad all of HTT is done.
My commissions are open.

HI KIRI i almost forgot about the ask game. tell me about His name isnt actually cain and/or two-tones.......... if i had to pick one. two-tones. i love you
ask me about my wips | wip list
every time i get one of these asks i'm like AMAZING and then i'm like ah fuck i gotta write MORE for these wips??? you guys are so talented at avoiding the wips i've ACTUALLY got an outline for <3
anyways of course I'll answer both! it's you!! how could i deny you... since it's two, I'll put this under the cut
two-tones:
the running gag of my life is that i try to do two things and only do one. for example with the htt bonus in the anomalous agate i meant to do a third and first person pov before settling on just doing one. and when I first wrote two-tone i meant for it to be a two-parter: the first being what got published as two-tone and the second... didn't work out. it is, very loosely, this thing i posted, but though it tied in (there's a reason that thing starts with "II."!) it was the kind of thing that I knew would get way too long to actually properly mirror two-tone as like, a dual thing. but i did want to extend it. at some point. and i kept having these ideas and building out a sort of hanzawa to tashiro timeline for myself, and then it was to the point that I went well. i need a document to collect this bullshit. and that is what two-tones is--my hanzashiro scrap bucket. so you've forced me into writing more scrap...
-
“oh—um, hang on a sec.”
when tashiro’s voice reaches him, it’s muffled and muted, and at first hanzawa wonders if the hesitancy he’s hearing is pure imagination. but then tashiro’s head peeks out from the door, eyes flickering anywhere but forward, and he says, “it’s—I found kuresawa’s old outfit.”
his hair curtains his uncertainty, gold and black curling around his face, and despite himself, hanzawa’s already charmed. it’s not often that tashiro wears his hair down, and every time hanzawa sees it, he feels like his hair has grown impossibly longer, even though it looks like nothing’s changed when it’s been tied up.
“well, how does it look?”
before he can assume the face of neutral, yet compassionate critique, tashiro jumps out with a skip-step, and laughter bubbles up under his skin.
“tashiro-kun, that doesn’t suit you at all,” he manages to get out, overwhelmed by the stark blacks and reds greeting him.
“It’s really strange, isn’t it?” tashiro asks, and hanzawa properly attunes himself to the seriousness in his voice.
in the back of his mind, there runs a strange thrill at the downturn of tashiro’s expression, but he leaves it there and adds, “the outfit looks lovely on you, but the color… doesn’t it makes you look like… a bad boy?”
the fretfulness leaves tashiro’s body, and he shakes his head with a laugh. he takes a few steps towards hanzawa. “so you’re saying you should be wearing this?”
his name isn't actually cain:
so i say most of my fics are for a limited audience / audience of one but this one is ACTUALLY for an audience of one. i got super into playing honkai star rail for like. less than a month? uh and i get often annoyed by playing as like, a player character where I'm like. a nobody person lol. so I decided to commit to hard roleplay with my character. and i named him cain! hence the wip title lol. the "guy" trailblazer's / player character's name is normally caelus. but he's cain to me. and i play cain as a very specific character. kind of serious and considerate... and i have like. rationalized everything! so this is a fic exploring my take on the character. so it's basically OC fiction. but maybe i'm good enough to sell you on anything...? ;) pfft okay i can't keep up that sort of arrogance. here's the beginning:
-
Three months after Cain had joined Astral Express, Dan Heng was in the archives, digitizing a piece of romance fiction he was almost sure was never going to help any kind of future research initiative. As he squinted at a line of faded paper he realized that there was, in fact, a missing page from Vol. 5 of When Winter Met Wildfire, took out his phone to text Cain, realized that he could probably just grab him from a few doors down on the Astral Express, and decided he needed the walk. It was only once he’d stood up, phone in hand, that he realized that he couldn’t just walk a few doors down, because he wasn’t even sure if Cain had a bedroom on the ship.
The guy was always jumping around, flashing back to the Space Station with regularity and even dragging Dan Heng and March around on his missions whenever he felt like it, but even with all of that, Dan Heng had seen him on the Astral Express with enough frequency—chatting with Pom-Pom, talking to Mr. Yang and Himeko in the main room, making small talk with their special visitors, admiring March’s collection of photos, or tapping on Dan Heng’s door quietly before poking his head into the room and reading silently next to him. That was the reason why Dan Heng was looking for him in the first place—he had the uncanny ability to find new books and articles to add to the archives, and he was probably the only person who wouldn’t see anything out of sorts with looking for the missing page of a romance novel. The only person who wouldn’t say anything about it, at least.
The more he searched his memories, the harder it was to find anything reciprocal in those interactions. Apart from picking him up at their first meeting, they’d mostly left Cain to fend for himself. It bothered him more than it should’ve—by nature Dan Heng would never consider himself a friendly person, so it made sense that he wasn’t hanging out with Cain in his free time. But it bothered him anyways—like he should’ve wanted to get more invested in his life, considering how easily invested Cain seemed to get into his. Like maybe the whole Stellaron body business should’ve been a bigger deal than it was.

Because we’re forever baby
Finally, time to unleash this DNA compilation post after shedding tears trying to find everything and put them in chronological order. You can inform me if there are inaccuracies or any performances missed out (although most likely I’ll never be able to edit this post anymore by then...) They've been performing DNA since Sep 2017 and there are just so many moments in each performance, this is as rewarding as it was torturous to compile.
(For those who were waiting for Jin to post on Tae’s birthday, you can maybe consider this a tiny bit of consolation from a fellow Taejinnie 😂)
Disclaimer: Regard this as a compilation post of all DNA performances, all dates listed are the days they actually performed DNA, hopefully there aren’t major mistakes. All comments are purely mine and are for entertainment purposes only.
Also this post is link heavy because there are too many mini moments and I can’t screenshot everything.
START
18 Sep 2017 - DNA MV
On this date, the MV was first released. They recorded a Bangtan bomb of their reaction to the MV which was released later on (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mJ5JZNQZz0). If you looked carefully at the MV, that part of the choreography where they face each other, they had already begun 'playing' so this started right off the bat and as you know, has become their tradition to fool around whenever they perform DNA.
19 Sep 2017 - Comeback show for DNA
As usual, they air their comeback show which is here: (https://www.vlive.tv/video/41492?channelCode=FE619). Taejin is neither clingy nor obvious, so I don't have much to highlight from this video. Nevertheless, still a fun show and I still rewatch it from time to time.
21 Sep 2017 Cultwo Show & Comeback Show
Taejin's matching shirts, Jin wears his on this show while Tae wears his on the comeback show.
Tumblr media
Found from this link: (https://twitter.com/taejinniesmoon/status/1198590731629158400?s=20) a very helpful thread on their countless matching outfits.

And Tae wore it here: (https://youtu.be/QBYbEU0vvwM)
22 Sep 2017 Show Champion
I forgot how I archived this but I think this was filmed on this date and aired later on in Oct. There is more behind the scenes though nothing significant happened during DNA performance itself.
24 Sep 2017 SBS Inkigayo Super Concert
DNA's first fancam of Taejin being cute together at the back. Honestly DNA's choreo is just perfect and so fitting for the both of them who love fooling around with each other. This is the rehearsal and Jin tickled Tae.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then the actual performance is when he holds on to Tae to support him as he was too exhausted and near collapse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the performance: (https://youtu.be/fb-_jkdxgh4)
26 Sep 2017 SBS MTV the show

Love this HD shot of Jin holding on to him. Performance here: (https://youtu.be/kxVlujEhM2Y)
28 Sep 2017 M Countdown DNA CB
(https://twitter.com/i/status/1174256858787471362)
Did he kiss, sniff, or blow his neck? Because Tae's reaction and expression suggests Jin was up to no good and kissed him. Also, Jin is naughty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you'd like to watch this is the encore of the performance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMHq4WIYl8Y). I don't have a clear angle and is a bit lazy to find it but they were fooling around at the final part of the choreo as usual.
During rehearsal there's a cute bit where Jin pushes Tae to the floor and Tae is all dramatic but then he gets revenge - (https://ifunny.co/video/sksksk-this-was-when-jin-pushed-tee-in-the-end-yf5vLOxW6) if anyone has the fancam youtube link for this...
Look at Yoongi's smirk hehe. Good things happen when Yoontaejin are together.

While its common for Jin to do aegyo for Army, it's not so common for him to behave this way towards any of the members. And he did this with Tae, who of course, found him adorable and squished (maybe wanted to kiss) his face.

Nothing significant happens either, they play with each other during the mid section of the choreography as usual.

This is the same day Jin confessed his love for Tae. They play around as usual but unfortunately the final part got covered.

25 Jan 2018 SMA
Finally we arrive to this moment in DNA history which served as the rabbit hole for not only me, but for countless other Taejinnies.
First of all, this is not a concert but an award show. Second, the stage set so that the audience is surrounding them, front, side and back, which means he wanted people to see this. Third, he made eye contact with a fansite, which means it's completely intentional. Fourth, the intensity and force with which he grabbed Tae into a hug, Tae actually bounced a little from the impact before he's tightly held in place by Jin. At just one glance, it seems like a cute playful hug. Until you replay it and notice that Jin melds his front to Tae's back completely from their heads to their hips (if you get what I mean) and Tae's laughter goes from sweet, over the moon kind because this is a romantic moment to the amused kind because Jin is completely pressed up against his back.
Of course, that does not take away the significance and the impact of this hug, which I don't know exactly what it is. It's sweet, romantic, playful, cute, naughty all rolled into one. Jin definitely intended to prove a point, maybe he's saying "mine" or maybe he was just feeling extremely bold and he knows Tae enjoys these sort of unexpected public displays of affection. I don't know the context but whatever it was, it most definitely grabbed people's attention and 'forced' people to look. Also probably why some perceive this as simple fanservice.
Incidentally, this is the same award show in which Tae was crowned as the most handsome man in the world, announced by non other than his Wooga gang member Park Hyun Shik. I don't know and don't claim that this and the hug is related or is it just coincidental, but just putting this nugget of into out here.
Most importantly Tae looked like he had the time of his life, elated by Jin's sudden show of physical affection or possessiveness, whichever it was. I categorize the impact of this hug as the same as in BV1, sweet, random, non-platonic and is triggered by an unknown motive.

They performed DNA again after change of outfit and this little adorable and naughty exchange happened: (https://twitter.com/taejin_cypher/status/1192469919968792576?s=20) - Smirking when they pass by each other and Tae pushes Jin. It’s probably one of their games.
Tumblr media
18- 23 Apr 2018 Japan Official Fanmeeting Vol. 4 Happy ever after
Tumblr media
From hours of research, I've learned that Japan fancams are incredibly hard to find and maybe don't exist because of how strict their rules are during concerts, so I don't know which moments happened on which dates. But these 6 dates were held in Tokyo, followed by Osaka. I don't recall seeing any fansite photos of Jin leaning on Tae's shoulders, unless it's referring to the moment below. If not, then maybe it's a moment not captured by any cameras and serves only the eyes of those who attended the concert.
A little bit of commentary about this particular moment. That hand sliding up Tae's arm, pulling him into a sweet hug, them whispering "forever" to each other, and Tae's grin. Tae who usually spices it up right back, returning the favor but now he's so compliant, a good boy, basking in Jin's public display of affections.
What was the reason? Claiming his forever in front of their precious fans- he's really a romantic boy. Additionally, this is the first time he's done something like this at this part of the choreo, which makes it extra special because unlike Tae who's more spontaneous, he probably planned or had calculated this in his mind a little in advance. At least that's what I think.

His smile is too sweet it breaks my heart. Since I don't have proper organisation of these few days of Muster in Japan and I think it's not important to list them out one by one, below are some useful compilation of their moments.

Jin hugs Tae tightly, although Tae doesn’t really react but lets himself be hugged. Watching the full video I personally thought he didn’t look too pleased about it. Don't know why. He got embarrassed and ran off after this. (According to fan reports)

Either my eyes are playing tricks on me or Tae really did tap tap tap on Jin’s crotch area. Because after that he bends his elbow and aims higher at Jin’s lower stomach. All because Jin tapped his butt. With both hands. Or maybe I'm just seeing things. Angle of rotation? Lol.

I just love how they don’t get sick of fooling around with each other no matter how many times they do this routine. 9 out of 10 times they make it a point to look at each other and laugh. It’s pretty clear the both of them actually look forward to it. I myself didn’t get bored going through their fancams because Taehyung is always so happy when they play around. Jin’s just patting his back but look at his grin?

Tumblr media
So many dates and I sort of can't believe I watched all of them. Their DNA moments miraculously return in Paris. What a coincidence, the city that Tae has been mentioning and the place he wants to go on a trip with Jin.
Jin looks at Tae for a long time; probably thinking about how he should do whatever he’s thinking of doing. He grabs Tae’s sleeve, pulls him in closer and sings his line emphasising the lyrics “... baby...” directly facing him. Tae is clearly startled, looks at him but immediately accepts and leans into him enjoying the rare PDA and attention. (And the way Jin grabbed him is really hot).
Interestingly, Jin chose to do this on the day they’re in Paris while particularly singing “don’t regret it, baby. Because we’re forever” to Tae. They’ve been fooling around forever in DNA, and when the moments gradually die down, Jin does something grand again, which makes it all the more special. Jin is really good at being romantic, and this is probably just scratching the surface. And you will see how significant this moment really is because there will be no DNA moments again for the next few tour dates. It very clearly catches Tae and all the others off guard, he couldn’t control his grin afterwards and he’s still relishing in the sudden moment. J-Hope and Yoongi sees what he did in the monitor and he has a rather unreadable expression on his face. Is that a smile at the unexpected?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That gaze at Tae? Oof. It's one of his really rare expressions that only Tae can pull out and also the reason why I see Jin as 'wolf'-ish. The only other time I can remember him making this face is that episode of Run when they acted out a skit.
Tae is on cloud nine for the rest of the song. It sort of gives me the same vibes as the SMA DNA backhug, where Jin executed his plans and got the same reaction out of him. A pretty chaotic and bold and grand love confession, if you ask me, it’s very Jin. He knows how to make his man happy.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, now for a little word vomit. The only word I can describe this moment: Magical. Thank goodness for fancams, because we can see Tae smirking as he's probably brewing this whole thing up in his mind halfway through the song and then he turns back and resolutely executes it. I know I don't need to even describe it but it is so beautiful, it's obvious that Jin was as startled as any of us.
There are plenty of suggestions that Tae was trying to mimic the pose of the movie he loves so much, CMBYN, and I don't deny it does look like that, it's just that his eyes are so intense and seems impromptu enough that while he faced Jin in that few seconds he might have looked like he intended to kiss instead. Which is what Jin's reaction looks like.
Jin- I am so weak for Tae's reflection that you can see in his eyes. He reacts fast, as usual he lets Tae get away with everything, his hands don't even budge and his body doesn't even try to block or push or panic. He's just bending backwards, Tae's hips are fully leaning on his so if he moved rashly Tae the both of them might have toppled together. He's letting Tae do whatever he wants but with just enough caution to make sure they don't accidentally end up kissing. Not that I would have minded if they did, but either way, it's devastating when you see Tae's expression when he's nestled in Jin's chest for those few seconds. He looks like he's at peace and at 'home'.
10 & 11 Oct 2020 MOTS ON:E
Surprise DNA come back! And the last one as of 30 Dec 2020.
My heart is broken at the end of this post because DNA holds a special place in my heart. Occasionally I come back just to watch compilations of their moments. I hope this puts a smile on your face as we look forward to which song they would claim in the future.
A little late but Happy Taehyung Day!

HTT: solmare needs to stop doing whatever it is they’re doing with some of these outfits, but more specifically Satans human world outfit
what happened there? who looked at that and thought that was okay? cause it’s not by any means okay solmare >:(
At this point I think it would feel incredibly wrong to me if Satan walked up with a good outfit, like? I’d combust on the spot. Who are you and what have you done with Satan?
I read a HC/theory that he does it to specifically spite Lucifer which is an interesting take for explaining it, at least!
All that doesn’t change the fact that his fashion sense is a sin, like he wore his tie OVER his shirt collar and then basically didn’t tie it at all? And the colors? Asmo, you let this happen?

Just finished my very slow quarantine rewatch of K-On!. Wanted to write down some of my thoughts and feelings. Several paragraphs under the cut!
Tumblr media
I’ll get this out of the way first; the recurring “joke” where Sawako tries to get the light music club to wear sexy outfits is uhhhh terrible, borderline sexual harassment. Luckily they mostly cut that out in the 2nd season, (which is great because otherwise her relationship with them is really nice) and other than that the show is perfect in pretty much every way.
Isn’t it weird how the first season takes place across two years, but the second season (which is twice as long) takes place across only one year? No idea how they pulled that off without it feeling strange, but they totally did.
I love this show so much. It’s great as a “cute girls doing cute things” type of anime, but its also substantially different that others of that type (that I’ve seen). It feels much more real. For one thing there obviously aren't any brightly-colored anime protagonist haircuts, so I guess it is more realistic from a character design standpoint.
But also just, everything... I think the school is based on a real school building, which makes it REALLY stand out from the very generic appearance of most anime schools. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole town is based on a real place actually (if so I bet that's great for the people who live there- remembering my experience watching Steven Universe for the first time and seeing a real place I know quite well translated into animation)
But yeah, there’s just so much detail put into all the backgrounds and character animations. It’s incredibly,,, believable, I guess. It’s pretty timeless too, there’s hardly anything anchoring it a specific time period, so it can be relatable for all time (although, it is kinda funny on the rare occasion things do pop up, like when they literally use tapes to record music...)
And I was thinking about this recently, I think the opening and ending themes are somewhat unique as well. How many other animes have OPs and EDs that are rock songs actually performed by the characters? I mean, it’s catchy pop-rock, so I guess that’s probably not so uncommon (also I know nothing about music genres so this might just be entirely wrong). But I can’t think of many other examples of the characters literally performing the music. And the ending themes are like fully produced music videos! its great. Unfortunately its not diegetic; I don't think any of those songs actually exist in the lore. (and I haven't even mentioned the BGM scores... which are all perfect).
The third OP and ED are my favorite of each, btw (at least thats how I feel atm. I admit it could be because I like just finished watching the show so those are the ones I heard most recently). I love how the third opening is upbeat and energetic like the rest, but in the last 15 seconds it shifts into something slightly more melancholy. Reminding you that K-On! is approaching its end, but you should still feel happy and grateful for the time you spent with it. A nostalgic feeling.
I feel like nostalgia is an important part of the whole show’s tone, actually. (Though again I could be biased on this, I may very well just be nostalgic for when I first watched it (which was while I was in high school)).
So much time is spent in the episodes approaching the ending focused on what’s going to come next for the Light Music Club; both the characters, who have to figure out where to go to college, and what they want to study, and the club itself, which will (hopefully) live on without them. (Azusa and Sawako-sensei will make sure of that). I can’t help but feel like that’s the point. HTT goofing off in the music room after school was never something that could’ve lasted forever, but for the time it did, it was incredibly impactful. Both the big stuff (live on-stage performances, trip abroad to England, etc.) and the little stuff (tea and cake every day, animal costumes for no reason, etc).
What K-On! is most of all is “comfortable.” That’s what lead me to turn it on again at the beginning of the pandemic, I just wanted something light and cute and comfy. It’s definetly “real” but it’s also “nostolgic.” It’s like what you remember good times feeling like. And since it’s immortalized in animation, it’ll always be that good.
Bonus thoughts:
... ... ...Hey, what happens to Ton-chan after the end of the show??? Hm. I think my headcanon is that he stays in the club room for a year, but then Azusa can’t bear to part with him when she graduates, so she takes him home.
Also its sad to think about, but HTT probably wont keep in touch with Sawako in the long run. I mean, I had some very formative teachers who I liked a lot, but I don’t ever talk to them. or event think about them most of the time. She’ll be fine though, she’ll have the future of the club to worry about. New students constantly cycling in and out with the years. Hopefully.
Mugi is definetly a lesbian, and I greatly appreciate that. (the others are less cut and dry but I’m gonna throw out some guesses. Ritsu is bi preferring men. Mio is ace. Azusa’s also a lesbian. Sawako is bi but she needs to keep a lid on it around high schoolers, as I already mentioned. Yui, I have absolutely no fucking clue)
These girls spend a lot of time at McDonalds.
(I haven’t actually rewatched the movie yet. I plan to do that within the next few days, then after that I may or may not come back to this post and add something, if I have anything new to add! edit: seen the movie, it’s great, better than I remembered actually. but other than that I don’t have much to say. Please go watch k-on if you haven’t already!)

I had a pink satin htt outfit like this and it was sick. I know this is some other evolved fabric but my 70′s satin pants and jacket were so ill. Gigi reminds me of those times, she is timelless and iconic. Her look is original, exotic and blonde bombshell.

We’ve all been there. We go to a store and we see an item of clothing we like. Then we see that the item comes in many colors. The choices flood your mind, but you are unable to come up with the right decision. You leave the store empty handed.
Don’t let indecision regarding color affect your ability to make a choice. Read this article to find out what colors work best with your complexion.
Determining Your Complexion
Basically, complexions are divided into three categories, warm, cool or neutral. Here’s a basic rundown of the three.
Warm Undertone: If your skin is creamy white, peachy beige, golden olive or honey brown you are considered to have a warm undertone. Warm undertones look great with neutrals that bring out the golden tones in skin and well as vibrant shades that complement their complexions.
 /*<![CDATA[*/ (function () { var scriptURL = 'https://sdks.shopifycdn.com/buy-button/latest/buy-button-storefront.min.js'; if (window.ShopifyBuy) { if (window.ShopifyBuy.UI) { ShopifyBuyInit(); } else { loadScript(); } } else { loadScript(); } function loadScript() { var script = document.createElement('script'); script.async = true; script.src = scriptURL; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(script); script.onload = ShopifyBuyInit; } function ShopifyBuyInit() { var client = ShopifyBuy.buildClient({ domain: 'schmidt-clothing.myshopify.com', storefrontAccessToken: '04e3f2c2f256c599ae4e274d76cc6246', }); ShopifyBuy.UI.onReady(client).then(function (ui) { ui.createComponent('product', { id: '5144057872522', node: document.getElementById('product-component-1590068180247'), moneyFormat: '%24%7B%7Bamount%7D%7D', options: { "product": { "styles": { "product": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "max-width": "calc(25% - 20px)", "margin-left": "20px", "margin-bottom": "50px" } }, "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "buttonDestination": "checkout", "text": { "button": "Buy now" } }, "productSet": { "styles": { "products": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "margin-left": "-20px" } } } }, "modalProduct": { "contents": { "img": false, "imgWithCarousel": true, "button": false, "buttonWithQuantity": true }, "styles": { "product": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "max-width": "100%", "margin-left": "0px", "margin-bottom": "0px" } }, "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "text": { "button": "Add to cart" } }, "cart": { "styles": { "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "text": { "total": "Subtotal", "button": "Checkout" } }, "toggle": { "styles": { "toggle": { "background-color": "#263a8b", ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } } } }, }); }); } })(); /*]]>*/
If you are a warm undertone, here are some colors that work well for you.
Rust and burnt orange
Mustard and citrus yellows
Chocolate browns
Khaki and olive greens
Peaches and corals
Periwinkles and teals
Warm grays
Off white
Red-violet
Cool Undertones: Those with cool undertones will have skin that is white, rosy beige or rosy pink with olive, blue, green or rosy brown hues. If this sounds like you, here are some colors that will complement your complexion:
Cobalt blue or turquoise
Icy blues
Green
Frosty purples and pinks
Berry reds
Cool grays
Crisp whites
Colors that are too bright will overpower a cool complexion.
Neutral Undertone: To be considered as having a neutral undertone, you skin will be ivory, beige, light to medium olive or light brown. Hair and eye color will also have warm and cool tones running through them.
Neutrals are fortunate in that they can wear a wide range of colors. However, red is always a good one. Softened sherbert shades like soft raspberry, creamsicle and lavender will also work well.
The only tones neutrals will want to stay away from are colors that are overly bright or rich. Neons are also a no-no.
Colors That are Safe

There are a few colors that work with any undertone. These include the following:
Bright red
Blush pink
Teal
Eggplant
The Seasons
The colors you choose for your outfits will also vary according to the season. For instance, dark brown is typically a color worn in the fall or winter. Therefore, a dark brown sundress may look out of place.
Finding the right color for the right season can be trickier than it seems. Here are some guidelines to follow.
Spring: In general, springtime colors include bright and vibrant shades like:
Light and mediums green
Red
Yellow
Royal blue
Royal purple
Bright pink
Teal
Dark brown makes a great neutral to throw in for balance.
Summer: During the summer, you will want to wear softer, more muted tones. These include:
Periwinkle
Lavender
Off-white
Raspberry
Sky blue
Light teal
Bright pink
You can throw in neutrals like navies and forest greens for balance.

Autumn: The colors of Thanksgiving provide pretty accurate guidance for the fall colors that work best. Here are some you’ll want to put in your outfits.
Dark and medium brown
Mustard yellow
Olive green
Dark teal
Dark red
Forest green
Eggplant
Winter: Many of us like to wear dark, drab colors during the winter, but you’d be amazed at how lighter tones can work to brighten up a dreary day. Here are some color suggestions:
Gray
Black
Eggplant
Magenta
Royal blue
Dark red
Lavender
Blush pink
True pink
 /*<![CDATA[*/ (function () { var scriptURL = 'https://sdks.shopifycdn.com/buy-button/latest/buy-button-storefront.min.js'; if (window.ShopifyBuy) { if (window.ShopifyBuy.UI) { ShopifyBuyInit(); } else { loadScript(); } } else { loadScript(); } function loadScript() { var script = document.createElement('script'); script.async = true; script.src = scriptURL; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(script); script.onload = ShopifyBuyInit; } function ShopifyBuyInit() { var client = ShopifyBuy.buildClient({ domain: 'schmidt-clothing.myshopify.com', storefrontAccessToken: '04e3f2c2f256c599ae4e274d76cc6246', }); ShopifyBuy.UI.onReady(client).then(function (ui) { ui.createComponent('product', { id: '5127602765962', node: document.getElementById('product-component-1590068130284'), moneyFormat: '%24%7B%7Bamount%7D%7D', options: { "product": { "styles": { "product": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "max-width": "calc(25% - 20px)", "margin-left": "20px", "margin-bottom": "50px" } }, "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "buttonDestination": "checkout", "text": { "button": "Buy now" } }, "productSet": { "styles": { "products": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "margin-left": "-20px" } } } }, "modalProduct": { "contents": { "img": false, "imgWithCarousel": true, "button": false, "buttonWithQuantity": true }, "styles": { "product": { "@media (min-width: 601px)": { "max-width": "100%", "margin-left": "0px", "margin-bottom": "0px" } }, "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "text": { "button": "Add to cart" } }, "cart": { "styles": { "button": { ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, "background-color": "#263a8b", ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } }, "text": { "total": "Subtotal", "button": "Checkout" } }, "toggle": { "styles": { "toggle": { "background-color": "#263a8b", ":hover": { "background-color": "#22347d" }, ":focus": { "background-color": "#22347d" } } } } }, }); }); } })(); /*]]>*/
Now that you have this guide, you will never have to run out of a store because you couldn’t choose a color again. So, which undertone are you?

Hyperloop is edging closer to reality
Plenty has happened in the five years since Elon Musk first published his white paper on a system he called hyperloop. Since releasing that manifesto to the world, hundreds of people, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been put to work, all of it in the service of bringing Musk's retro-futurist dream of a vacuum tube, for people, to life. And despite being less than a fever dream half a decade ago, the pace of innovation is notably increasing, with 2018 already including several big announcements regarding its future.
There are a handful of companies all competing to be the first to build a fully-working, operational hyperloop. The most notable, and the one that has achieved the most in its relatively short life, is Virgin Hyperloop One. Its biggest accomplishment was using some of the $300 million it has raised to build DevLoop, a 500-meter-long testing environment. Situated out in the Nevada desert, DevLoop is the proving ground for the company's maglev and pump technology, as well as its pod design.
Because DevLoop is just a 500-meter tube, the company can only run the pod at high speeds before a few seconds before the braking kicks in. Yet, despite this, the XP-1 test pod has reached speeds of up to 240 miles an hour, boding well for the future of the technology. Hyperloop One had initially planned to extend the tube much further, but that plan seems to have been put on hold. Instead, the company will build longer test tubes that will, eventually, form part of the first full line.
In the US, the company is looking to connect major metro areas in the northeast, like Chicago, Columbus and Pittsburgh. In the northwest, a route between Cheyenne, through Denver, and down to Pueblo is also being looked at. In the center, a route that would connect Kansas City to St. Louis via Columbia is being examined, while further south, the Texas triangle, comprising of Dallas, Laredo, Austin and Houston, is also under consideration.
It is likely, however, that the world's first hyperloop will be built outside of the US, and India has made a claim to be at the front of the line. Earlier this year, Virgin Hyperloop One signed a deal with the state of Maharashtra to examine if a link between Pune and Mumbai is feasible. Unlike many of the others, however, this deal also includes a commitment to build at least part of a test track along that route. Which means that there could be a "working," albeit short hyperloop, in operation by 2021.
Around the same time, Virgin Hyperloop One teamed up with Dubai's Road and Transport Authority to show off a concept design for a passenger pod. The design isn't necessarily final, so much as a "what if" for the wealthy emirate, with a complement of 19 people per pod. Five will sit in a gold-class section, while a further 14 sit in silver-class -- although given that most journeys are expected to be around twenty minutes, are different comfort levels really that necessary?
The other big name is Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, a crowdsourced enterprise that harnesses volunteer labor. Scientists, engineers, economists and administration staff work for the company in exchange for stock options that will, should HTT become a success, pay off. From a slow start, HTT has now shaken hands on a number of deals to work with local authorities to explore the feasibility of joining cities together.
In February, the company signed an agreement with officials in North Ohio and Illinois to look at ways to connect Cleveland and Chicago. This study, under the name Great Lakes Hyperloop, will be completed by the end of 2018 and, from there, the business of raising funds to actually build the thing will begin. Beyond that, HTT has also focused its intentions on routes in South Korea, Indonesia and the Czech Republic.
Beyond various investigations and proposals, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has reached several other milestones. At the start of 2017, the French city of Toulouse handed the outfit 3,000 square meters of space in a new innovation park it was building out of was once Francazal Airport. It appears that HTT won't, at least initially, have to pay for the privilege of using the space, although the details of the deal aren't public.
youtube
And in March 2017, the company announced that it was building its first passenger capsule, which is expected to be finished in early 2018. The actual construction is being handled by Carbures SA, a company that builds structures for the aerospace industry. The pod itself will be 30 meters long and 2.7 meters in diameter, weighing a staggering 20 tons and capable of supporting up to 40 passengers. The company says that the pod will have a top speed up to 760 miles per hour -- the theoretical upper limit for hyperloop transit.
One thing we do know is that its pod will use Inductrack, a levitation system initially developed by the American government. Inductrack is a form of passive repulsion that was designed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a way of making MagLev systems cheaper. The principles are simple enough: one object that is magnetically-charged can repulse other pieces of metal. So, rather than super-cooled, power-hungry electromagnets along the track, the Inductrack tech resides only in the pod. If you're curious how that would work, check out our video exploration of the Hendo Hoverboard, which uses the same principles.
youtube
There have been missteps, and the company's use of voluntary, as-yet unpaid labor raises questions over if it is a functioning business. A couple of PR own-goals haven't helped remedy an impression that HTT is, if not amateur, then an amateurish enterprise. Like when, at the end of 2016, the outfit revealed that it had raised over $100 million, except that wasn't technically true. Instead, HTT had pulled in $31.8 million in cash -- no mean feat -- and $77 million worth of "in-kind and land value investments."
Of that figure, $26 million was "man-hours and services," while land rights counted for another $22 million. Again, it's a huge achievement to convince people, and governments, to contribute anything of that value to a small company forging ahead in a brand new industry. But also, there is that faint smell of disingenuousness that lingers over all of the proceedings.
youtube
Then there was the news that the carbon fiber composite that was planned to cover HTT's pods would be called Vibranium. The same name as the fictional Wakandan rare earth metal that is used by Black Panther and Captain America in Marvel's comics. Now, HTT has managed to successfully register the trademark in the US, both as Vibranium and Vibranium Skin. But we would imagine that, should it ever be used as a selling point, Disney's well-heeled lawyers will have something to say on the matter.
Musk's involvement in hyperloop was never meant to be more than pushing the idea out into the world and stepping back. He was, in his own words, too busy with SpaceX and Tesla to become involved with the concept. SpaceX, however, would remain on hand as a neutral arbiter, with its own tube that can be, and is, used for student pod design competitions.
youtube
However, Musk's position began to change last year, when he tweeted that he had sought permission to build a link between Washington D.C. and New York City. The billionaire never clarified who would be in charge of building the project, although it could be presumed that it would be Hyperloop One. After all, the company was founded by his friend and staffed by former SpaceX employees. Plus, it had a few years' head start.
But it appears that the work will actually be undertaken by Musk's third enterprise, The Boring Company, which specializes in tunnel construction. Musk founded the company with the intention of reinventing roads, believing that cars needed to travel in tunnels to avoid traffic congestion. He coined the name Loop to describe a scenario where vehicles sit on magnetically-levitated sleds and conveyed through metro areas. The sleds, known as skates, would travel at around 150 miles an hour, aimed at eliminating congestion in cities like Musk's home of Los Angeles.
Just received verbal govt approval for The Boring Company to build an underground NY-Phil-Balt-DC Hyperloop. NY-DC in 29 mins.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 20, 2017
As for Musk's own hyperloop, the company is now working with federal and state officials on a D.C to Baltimore route which could then be extended to New York. Both Washington D.C. itself and the State of Maryland has offered permission for exploratory digging to commence. In the former, the company is allowed to prod the soil at 53 New York Avenue, while in Baltimore, Musk is allowed to dig 10.1 miles of tunnel beneath the state-owned portion of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
At the time, we pointed out that Musk's renewed involvement poses something of an existential threat to the other hyperloop startups. After all, Musk has the financial, political and technical clout to disrupt the other entrants into the space. Not to mention that SpaceX holds the trademarks to the hyperloop name, and can force rivals to stop using the brand should it wishes. Although in a statement to Bloomberg, a The Boring Company representative said that they would only do so if the company wasn't being "truthful." Whatever that means.
If there's such a thing as a hyperloop purist, then they're probably flipping their desk at the sight of Arrivo's name on this list. After all, the company isn't proposing to put folks inside vacuum tubes and fire them across the country at high speeds. It's not even proposing to build a city-to-city network that would dramatically reduce the need for short-haul air travel.
Instead, Arrivo's plan is to use tubes at normal pressure, coupled with maglev sleds, to carry cars and trucks from one end of a city to the other. It's a hybrid of the original hyperloop concept, and Elon Musk's plans to reduce traffic congestion in LA, albeit with a different implementation. The tubes would sit in the median strip of a highway, with cars entering and departing at designated entry and exit-points.
youtube
Once inside, cars would sit on a levitating sled that would travel at speeds up to 200 miles an hour from point-to-point. Passenger pods could also use the system to get from A to B, and in the future, the pods themselves will be self-driving taxis.
Right now, Arrivo has signed a deal with Colorado's Department of Transportation to explore ways to solve Denver's congestion problems. Cars could avoid clogging up the arteries of the city to get from one end of the other by using the tubes. If implemented, the current journey time between the airport and downtown, or Boulder and downtown Denver, would be cut by up to 50 minutes.
Arrivo's not just notable because of the system it is developing, but the people who are working to develop it. Brogan BamBrogan, David Pendergast, William Mulholland and Knut Sauer are all listed as co-founders of the enterprise. The quartet make up the "gang of four," who previously held senior positions at Hyperloop One, now rechristened Virgin Hyperloop One.
Hyperloop One co-founder Brogan quit the company in July 2016, sending shockwaves through the hyperloop community. It subsequently emerged that he was suing the company he helped found for harassment and financial mismanagement. A falling out with legal council Afshin Pishevar which culminated in an alleged death threat: Pishevar (allegedly) draping a knotted rope on the back of Brogan's chair.
Lawsuit and countersuit followed, with Hyperloop One contenting that Brogan and his accomplices had "tried to stage a coup." By November of that year, the various hostilities had been settled, with the quartet free to build their own vision of what a hyperloop is, or could be.
The company plans to begin construction on a test track in Commerce City, Colorado, at some point this year. The half-mile facility will cost up to $15 million, and will be used to identify the fastest, and cheapest, ways to build the magnetic sleds. But there are plenty of questions about how effective Arrivo's plan will be.
For instance, most tube-transit systems, like London's Underground subway, have issues with trains pushing pockets of air through the tunnels. How will Arrivo reduce the issue of all this air zooming around without creating a vacuum, or making the tube significantly larger? There's also the question of whether it's right that the city should go out of its way to spend big to further subsidize carbon-intensive car travel rather than spending the same money public transportation. Also: What happens if Arrivo's system is so popular that it, in turn, becomes the victim of a capacity crunch?
Beside these major players, there are also other people and groups working on their own hyperloops, from TransPod in Canada through to all of the academic pod design teams. All are looking to solve the technological and economic arguments that stand between us and high-speed transit. There is no guarantee that such a system will ever materialize, of course, between tight-fisted legislators and angry locals protesting where the routes will be built. But to think that all of this has been achieved in just five years is heartening.
Vacuum tube systems are nothing new, and we had working versions of the system in operation a century ago. But for a variety of technical, political and economic reasons, those attempts all failed before they could become adopted by the mainstream. Hyperloop One, with its working test track, has at least demonstrated that modern-day engineering can do what Isambard Kingdom Brunel couldn't in 1848. What comes next, however, is far harder: Whipping enough public desire to see these systems built, and working out who should shoulder the cost to do so.

An Orange 2017 Land Rover Discovery Joins the Four Seasons Fleet
Through the many badges it’s worn here in America since launching here in 1994, the Land Rover Discovery has played an undeniable role in the early seeds of SUV mania. Even after the Disco name was dropped for North America in 2004 with the launch of the third-generation model in favor of the LR3 moniker (which evolved to LR4 years later with the launch of the fourth-gen), the iconic SUV endeared itself to would-be adventurers as a tantalizing mixture of rugged grit and upstanding British appeal. And although the original name is back, this new, fifth-generation model brings with it host of changes that, for better or worse, shake up the tried-and-true Discovery formula. To get a better handle on just what the new 2017 Land Rover Discovery is made of, we snagged one for our Four Seasons fleet.
Automobile’s first-ever Four Seasons test with a Land Rover featured a 1996 Discovery. That tough-as-nails off-roader was adored for its fearsome capability but mistrusted for its constant quality issues, large and small, earning it a dismal 2.5 stars out of 5. Land Rover went back to the drawing board for the LR3, updating everything from the pushrod V-8 to the frame, suspension, and styling language. With its vastly improved driving dynamics, ergonomics, and interior packaging (the rear seats actually folded flat), our test of the 2005 LR3 earned a much-improved 4 stars. Still, quality gremlins endured, and the freshly introduced DOHC 4.4-liter V-8 was neither powerful nor torque-rich enough to overcome the LR3’s ample heft.
For 2017, the all-new Discovery addresses all of these shortcomings, and more. While the boxy utilitarian styling may be gone, so is much of the Disco’s muffin top. Not only is the new aluminum unibody up to 1,000 pounds lighter than the steel structure it replaces, under the hood is the oil-burning engine we’ve envied from afar for years. We eagerly ticked the box for Land Rover’s 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6, the first offered in a U.S.-market Discovery, and have so far been pleased with the 254 hp and juicy 443 lb-ft of torque it offers. (Gas-powered models use a 340-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V-6.)
Barely a week passed before we took it for its first cruise, up from Detroit to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, where the Disco effortlessly towed a 16-foot fishing boat on a trailer. The new eight-speed automatic transmission works especially seamlessly on the highway, where it helps the 4,916-pound seven-seater return an EPA-rated 26 mpg. On several long hauls, however, we’ve managed as much as 28 mpg with a cargo area full of luggage.
In addition to the diesel engine, we added a laundry list of options to ensure we had the full Land Rover mix of luxury and capability. The top-spec HSE Luxury trim comes nicely outfitted with everything from air suspension to heated 16-way power seats with Windsor leather upholstery, Espresso wood trim, a fantastic Meridian premium sound system, keyless entry, Bluetooth, navigation within the latest 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro interface, and front/rear parking aids. On top of that we kitted our Rover out with the Drive Pro package, adding adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with Queue Assist, and lane-departure warning ($2,350). Additional side cameras and LED headlights with automatic high beams come on the Vision Assist package ($1,000), while other pieces of tech like autonomous emergency braking ($125), a color head-up display ($950), a 360-degree parking aid ($275), automatic park assist ($800), and a full-on rear-seat entertainment suite ($2,270) have to be ordered a la carte.
On the more practical side of things, we made sure to include the Capability Plus package to get the active rear locking differential and Terrain Response 2 system ($1,250), a tow package ($650), roof rails ($400), and a full-size spare wheel and tire ($440). All told, our fully built-out family-hauling, rock-crawling, diesel-drinking, beverage cooling ($350) British behemoth rings in at an eye-watering $79,950.
So far, the Discovery has racked up more miles in such a short time than any Four Seasons vehicle in recent memory. Just two months into our test we’ve piled on 6,640 miles, putting it on pace to be one of the most driven Four Seasons testers on record. In short order we’ve adventured from Automobile’s Detroit bureau to Buffalo, Grand Rapids, two trips to Sault Ste. Marie, Chicago, Milwaukee, and Mackinaw City, Michigan. We’ve also spent a sunny afternoon off-roading at the Bundy Hill off-road park, where the Discovery’s raised air suspension, selectable terrain drive modes, hill-descent control, low-speed all-terrain cruise control, and low-range transfer case proved a Swiss Army knife of off-road guts in sand, dirt, and gravel. Once Michigan winter hits, we’ll be ready for the worst of it with a good set of winter rubber.
Though the Discovery has won praise for its capability, fuel economy, and utility, it is not without its detractors. Anglophile and contributing writer Marc Noordeloos wishes for better body control and a smoother ride, as well as a return to the bulkier styling of old. “I miss the near-timeless look of the old LR4,” he says. “This new Discovery has a bit of a hunchback going on and I can’t say I’m sold on the switch from a split tailgate to a fold-down.” Detroit bureau chief Todd Lassa, meanwhile, is often frustrated with the delayed throttle response. “The slow, clumsy tip-in makes me lose confidence when I need to merge into traffic. At least the interior leather and wood make the interior feel like a private London club,” notes Lassa.
Following a blissfully trouble-free Four Seasons test of a 2015 Jaguar F-Type S, we had hoped Land Rover’s infamous reliability woes were over, but we’ve already been somewhat disabused of that notion. It began with an improperly fitted A-pillar black trim piece, but since that small repair, we’ve also experienced random and unexplained tire-pressure monitoring warnings despite correct pressures (an issue we’ve also seen on our Four Seasons Jaguar F-Pace), lurching and bucking from the powertrain after cold starts, and (by far the most odd) – a rear three-quarter window that isn’t tinted to match the others. Perhaps most annoying have been the freezes and bugs with the infotainment system, which could really use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as well as voice-recognition technology. Even when everything is working, the system is simply not intuitive to use. When a friend and professional web and user-experience designer happened to be sitting shotgun, he was surprised how difficult it was to sift through various menus to access key functions. The satellite radio also frequently cuts out due to a weak signal, while the media player interface gets easily confused when connecting devices via Bluetooth and USB at the same time.
Has Land Rover has finally made a Discovery that’s both rugged and reliable for the daily grind? While it’s most certainly grown from its 1989 roots as a bare-bones all-terrain terror to a stylish, family-friendly people-mover with nine (!) USB ports, such a question remains open. When the Discovery’s four seasons are up, we’ll know if this third-gen is the charm.

not a hot take, sorry, but the new event reminded me - would you consider doing a fashion review of the boys' yukatas? i love levi's but beel's is like. half and half two entirely different colour schemes????
No need to apologize! The rest of the blog isn’t on hold just because it’s HTT.
The yukatas are definitely one of the sets I’m most looking forward to analyzing, so yes I’m definitely considering it! The whole team (and more!) is already on board for further discussions too. Honestly, the butler outfits aren’t that interesting so I probably will jump out of the chronological order ahead to something like the yukatas. Since the team behind Obey Me is Japanese, I’m not worried about the accuracy of the outfits, so I just need to brush up on my terminology to properly talk about it.
As for the yukatas themselves, I think it’s more fun to talk about realistic clothes than fantastical ones, so I’m looking forward to a good round of dissing these boys.
