my minifee head is still MIA, but I did get some eyes in from Chronic Art Dolls on etsy. some for franken-deer, some for dragon boy, and a couple other pairs you'll see in the future. it's hard to capture in photos but the blue ones sparkle.

chocolate doll soup. franken-deer is now dyed! the result isn’t perfect- there’s a lot of streaking and marbling- but it’s done, and that’s more than can be said about a lot of my projects. excited to put her back together tomorrow!

double post today: franken-deer has a wig! not sure if this is her final one, but it turned out pretty good so I’ll be keeping it regardless. finally her ears don’t look so out of place! next step: eyes.

just some details of the dye job. her headcap is the color I was originally going for, but when her head came out super streaky I just went for something darker but equally pretty. the second pic shows some, er, unfortunate findings as a result of the dye: she had some leftover hot glue sueding (the green stuff) I hadn’t noticed. finally some closeups of the spotting on her torso/arms and the way her face took the dye differently. I don’t mind these details, I think they work.

more work! added material to the neck hole to help the head fit on the body, did a total resculpt of the hooves, redid the dew claws, and added some fur details. the ones around the ankles are probably going to need to be redone, I don’t like them so much. the left hoof also needs a bit more work. the little thing in the middle of the first pic is a new teeth part for her mouth.
but I got her all together and everything still fits. she only stood for about thirty seconds, but she didn’t fall in half. it’s a start. also, her hooves can move more now, so she can point her toes.

all together! now that she’s all dried off and assembled, you can see more unevenness in the dye job, but I did the parts in pairs so that at least each side matches. and I love how the fur on her legs came out! it looks so much better when it’s all close to the same color lol.

last night’s progress!
I added an extension inside the torso to keep the chest from falling in half (a bad habit she had before) and added some shape to the back of her hip joints to help her stand upright. I gave her some dewclaws on her ankles (they won’t look like this in the end, I have to put fur on), and then I added her new ear bases over where I sanded off her ears. The bases will be painted eventually to blend in, but she’ll have long hair and I wanted the ears to poke out and be mobile.

daisy outfits! the bodycon dress didn’t work out so well (cut that neck hole WAY too big) but I’m fond of the shorts and... shirt dress? thing? it’s reversible!
I’m learning that yellow looks really good on her. what if her faceup had gold in it? hm hm hm.

these are NOT for sale, they are the pieces of my project dolly, who I’ve taken to calling “frankie” as a shortening of “franken-deer”. (that probably won’t be her actual name.) she’s going to be a hodge-podge of mostly secondhand, somewhat “junk” parts (except the body, that’s in good shape). and she’ll be some kind of... Idk jersey devil deer monster thing. because deer monsters are apparently My Whole Aesthetic. I can’t walk two steps without making one.
I’ll be starting a project journal for her on DOA, but I’ll update the blog as well. here’s the big list of plans!
Head: HTT Bambee
finish cleaning stubborn faceup bits
sand off elf ear mods + ears
attach magnets for new ears (second picture - rabbit ears from DreamLanddollStudio)
create fanged tooth part (she still has the original I just want to swap)
additive mod for better neck fit
Body: Resinsoul 60cm Girl Body
fix wrist articulation/range of motion
add chest structure to stop her from falling in half
do... something about those elbow joints
swap out hands
Legs: Resinsoul Mu/Ai Hooves
sand off the hip flanges
resculpt hooves and ankles for more realism
suede hips and ankles
she’s three different resin colors, so she’ll be dyed a tan and/or brown eventually, and then painted since she’ll have a bunch of additive mods. then she’ll need a faceup, eyes, and wig, (though I might already have her eyes,) and possibly some extra fantasy parts added if I can acquire or make them. looking forward to this! :)

so there’s a lot of work to be done here if I decide to keep this frankenstein situation, but I can’t say I don’t love it. definitely need to sand the hips/thigh joints, and I’d want to add some fur above the hooves (those ankles look bland to me). but boy, that engineering is great! these are Resinsoul legs, from the Mu body, I believe. I received them as a gift a few years ago, and now I think I’ve figured out what to do with them.
(I’m begging you to ignore my tornado aftermath of a workspace lol)

my recent impulse purchases, both off the DOA marketplace. left is the HTT Bambee (with elf ear mods from a previous owner) and the right one is shockingly NOT a Dream of Doll Ducan. it’s actually an event head from 2010, but it has thicker lips and a shorter nose than Ducan, which I actually like a bit more. super happy to have these!
I’ll likely end up removing the Bambee’s ears and replacing them with magnetized ones, and as I said in a previous post, they’ll probably end up on the Doll Family body I have on the way. no idea what to do with the DoD head yet, but I just couldn’t bring myself to pass it up. Ducan was one of the first two dolls I ever wanted, and I never got around to grabbing one, so having something I like even more with a very similar look is great! (plus both of these were well under a hundred bucks, so...)
