on bubble 2022 parallels

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA just finished watching bubble again and oh my godddd the scene where kai was like. yeeting hibiki over the antlion pit!! they do a parallel of that w uta and hibiki later on in the tower when he hugs her after they fly away from each other like.

okay i know kai is portrayed ‘inferior’ to hibiki and that’s why in their scene kai is ‘left behind’ by hibiki- there’s even a part that shows when hibiki jumps away, the concrete beneath kai’s feet crumbles away and he barely hangs onto the road, further pushing that ‘hibiki is better than kai’ message -but the way how in their scene it was all ‘the heat of the moment’ thing they wouldn’t think too much about it it was just part of their routine, just what kai had to do to get makoto back...

but in uta and hibiki’s scene, they both play a part in escaping from the collapsing tower (hibiki’s parkour and uta’s bubbles launching them away) and there are multiple moments where their abilities are equal (the scene where they run up to makoto- ironically its just after when hibiki left kai behind HAHHAH IM FINE) there’s a moment where they FUCKING SMILE AT EACH OTHER ONCE THEY HUG like. like-

im just thinking about how kai had a recurrent metaphor for ‘flags’ and how he had assigned himself the role of the one to get that flag, but in the end he sacrificed that opportunity to get it to hibiki because he knew hibiki was more capable than he was. and then he had to watch hibiki throw uta up to get it instead- which is fine! they get makoto back in the end its no big deal! but surely hibiki knew what it meant to kai, to allow hibiki to achieve that final goal-

and then in the tower when kai once again has to act as hibiki’s ‘assist’. im just thinking. kai calls it being a team but being a team isn’t blindly supporting one person- its everyone supporting each other. kai helps hibiki get his ‘flag’, helps him save uta. kai has to ask hibiki for help to get makoto back.

there’s something there, something about how kai has always been trying to be seen as an ‘equal’ to hibiki, how he didn’t want to be reduced to just a member of the blue blazes while hibiki gets titled their ‘strongest player’. there’s something about how kai always caves and sacrifices the flag to hibiki, whether its the chance to reach the top of the tower or to get makoto back.

I'd be more okay with Bellatrix/Hermione if people treated this ship straight. Like, girl, you're basically writing something that comes of as a Nazi/Jewish pairing! You have so much freedom to write something tragic and complex, but instead you choose to completely butcher one of them for the cutie factor... If you aren't comfortable with Bellatrix' personality, maybe just don't write about her.

Definitely would not call it a Nazi/Jewish pairing, but yes it certainly is a Oppressor/Oppressed ship, which unsurprisingly makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

I think they take inspo from movie!Bellatrix, who was much more Harley-Quinn-ish and very playful and unserious. But either way, Bella is still Bella, she’s still a maniac who takes pleasure in the torture of others, especially muggleborns. I’ve come across a few decent Bellamione fics/one-shots before (sometimes my eyes skip through tags ok? 🥲), but I don’t think I’ll be able to find one that has them both be relatively loyal to their canon characters while also being in a romantic relationship 😭 unless it was a dark!Hermione and/or a sympathetic!Bella fic.

If anyone has any well-written recommendations, you can always feel free to share!
