Summary- it all started with the dress

But it was too good. To good for it to have worked for so long. Everyone there lived like it was back in the old world. From what you could tell it was Poor vs Rich again.

hi!!! hows it goin i’m here to dump my thoughts about simm!master/lucy vs ten and martha cause i have MANY. also a disclaimer before i begin that i’m white and that likely does color my experience as a viewer compared to a BIPOC viewer. anyways: i’ll start with ten and martha because by sound of drums we’ve spent all season watching them and its that already established dynamic which i think lucy/saxon are meant to parallel in a way. you have ten very much still grieving rose and his entire planet, which makes him try and push away any new companions for a bit. but he’s still looking for - and i think needs, in a way - this kind of connection where he can depend on someone, and ideally they could depend on him. however. ten sucks at this second bit. for the entire season. so he’s in need of this connection despite not wanting any whatsoever, emotional intelligence completely out the window right now since he’s grieving x2, and martha unfortunately walks in right in the middle of this. so you get this dynamic really starting from i’d say the shakespeare code wherein martha is carrying a lot of the weight in their relationship. ten will entrust her with the most deeply personal shit (like his memories of gallifrey, his feelings on losing rose, even in 42 where he’s like "i’m scared i’m so scared" where he depends on martha for emotional support) and then when martha’s like hey can i get some support here or something ten’s like “uh sorry all out too busy being sad” i mean that's a bit exaggerated/summarized but thats the vibe they have. in the beginning he doesn't even admit she’s traveling with him! he’s all “just one trip” “just one more” and refuses to make a concrete decision that martha really needs him to make already. and despite this emotional unavailability shtick ten still relies on martha quite a bit! off the top of my head you have 42(martha freezing/unfreezing ten as he screams in pain), blink (they get sent back to the 1960s… and only martha gets a job???), and. human nature. wherein martha endures racial abuse alongside lesser shitty working conditions in order to ensure the doctor doesn't get his body possessed or something. and in the middle of it this human version of the doctor falls in love with another woman(after basically uh leading her on for the whole fucking season) (sure maybe unintentionally but that's not the point here) who. also was racist to her she's not even a nice person. and her only friend in this godawful place gets possessed. and human doctors a dick to her. and i think. i reflect on it and i come to the conclusion that ten very much does expect martha to just… do his job for him sometimes. handle all the dirty work like making sure human him doesn't get distracted or hurt or die. and still immediately after is like haha we are in 1960 now. i will not get a job what is that. why do you want me to “communicate” or “pull my weight” you’re traveling across space and time lol.

and the master and lucy are a darker extension of this dynamic that i actually haven't really seen people talk about much!! the master is very clear about why he married lucy, and there is no love/admiration/respect whatsoever in there. it is purely a means to an end - her family gets him influence, and she helps him carry out his plans. he gives nothing to lucy, only takes. which is in itself a mirror to ten & martha - the audience knows ten isn’t intending to be malicious in how he treats martha throughout the series, but when paralleled to lucy & the master i think you really get a sense of the harm this can cause down the line. what resentment this kind of dynamic can lead to. and ALL THE WHILE martha is walking the entire planet for a year to save all of humanity while ten hangs out aged 100 with his little tent & dog bowl & seething sorta-ex-husband-boyfriend-whatever. i mean he doesn't have the best time either but he also doesn't have to do that much and also is perhaps a bit too happy about not being the last time lord to fully grasp that hey, uh, humanity's in pretty dire straits right now. martha watches as the master turns earth into a living nightmare, slaughters millions of people on a whim, turns ten into a 900-year-old tweety bird, and tortures her family for a year, only for ten to go “guys dw i can fix him lol we’ll just live in the tardis for eternity together” as if she hadn't had to fight for that too. and ten is still shocked-pikachu-face when she goes “yeah no i’m leaving. i gotta get out.” and that is very much similar to lucy's moment in a way! where she sees the doctor forgiving(without really considering everybody else's opinion on the Past Year), martha's mom talked down from killing him, even Jack is talked down from his confusion at the whole idea, and i think in that moment she goes. okay. you guys can forgive. you guys can let him walk away having just taken, taken, taken everything without any repercussions. i meanwhile have this gun and two years of pent-up rage coursing through my veins. and both of these moments - martha leaving, lucy firing the gun - come at a shock to the doctor and the master. i mean you can see the master's little "oh" face when he gets shot. even if he plays it up like he expected it after i don't think he considered it before. and i think on a certain level neither really expected to be called out like this - ten because he’s got the emotional intelligence of a baseball bat, the master because he doesn’t think humans are capable of wiping their own asses - so in both of these moments in LoTL theyre like "wait i didn't know you could do that"

anyways tl;dr thats why i think lucy and the master are a darker parallel to the doctor and martha in their own way. which feeds into the rest of the finale where the master is just showing the natural extremes to who the doctor is - this is that toxic dependency taken to its natural worst possible place, where you treat someone as a tool rather than as a person. the master's generally a great foil to the doctor but the series 3 finale is just a fantastic example of it i think.

First, absolutely, Martha is the case of right person, wrong time... which is probably what makes hers my favourite companion arc - as I like to put it she travelled through hell and pulled her Virgil (because yes, the Doctor absolutely always has this guide role that brings Virgil to mind, at least in companions' first episodes) to the Earthly Paradise in the process. There's a lot of debates going on about whether Ten was leading Martha on, because on the one hand - well, he's very clear he's not into her romantically, on the other - ok, bitch, you made it clear the kiss doesn't mean anything, but also you hit off with flirtatious winks and end showing off time travel while also casually showing off your Adam's apple. Yeah, a girl can make deductions. And you're right that this superficial frankness is mirrorred in Master's relation to Lucy - though if anything he's crrepily keen on playing a caring husband, what with the 100% performative hug he gives her while the Toclafane are hacking a journalist up. Though I suppose in his head this is what the Doctor does as well when they comfort their companions. And let's give it to Ten - when he said he's not going to let Martha *checks notes* fry in a small capsule in far space because of a sentient sun, he does bend head over tits and does as promised. But historically it has happened that the Doctor's reassurances were hollow (future, but kind of most painful in Twelve assuring Bill he's going to de-cybermanize her only to later admit yeah not really an option... considering Saxon was there to witness this, I wonder if he marked this in his Notebook (of Rassilon) of Spiting the Doctor).

Ten's handling of the chameleon arch is kind of pathetic, thanks for pointing that out! Like, ok - if the Family gets a whole Time Lord lifetime it is a genuine threat to the universe, but his attitude of oh I'm just going to spend three months as a human in a random timespace, what could possibly go wrong, and anyway, Martha will be there to clean up any mess? is a mess. I do like John Smith's romance with nurse Radfem, though, not in the sense of shipping them, but more of an appreciation of the concept: a classic victorian/edwardian romance, but when you look at it from the persective of a BIPOC servant... it kind of becomes apparent both parties are dickheads. This does tie back to the Master in a way, because I think... want to think... that by the time the Doctor went oh no, we're better than a tyrant maniac that spent a whole year destroying the planet and torturing everyone in the room specifically, so we're not going to execute him, I'm going to put him in my nice spaceship and we'll have nice cuddle movie evenings instead, she was already hardened by the fact that he put her in an (unintentionally) tailor made emotional torture room for three months only to later reveal oh yeah, I could absolutely have handled them all along. Is just higher moral ground, innit?

I guess as all best foils do, the clue lies in the diffrences, though, right? Both Martha and Lucy end up deeply disillusioned with their respective semi-immortal twinks from space, but in one case there is still a disillusioned friendship (Ten's surprised Pikachu face, excellent comparion) and in the other there's only hate - and for good reasons! And where the Doctor grows to really respect Martha (and I wouldn't say he started off dismissive, I mean he is impressed when she tells him oh no mister, a doctor isn't something you just are, you have to earn the title) and is not just saddened but... humbled?... by her leaving, the Master shows up in EoT and is like Hey, my widow, did you miss me, hope you haven't remarried, that would be awkward to explain in the registry office :D!

*sigh* I suppose this is why tensimm is so special to me. It's 20 seasons of foil dynamic condensed into 5 hours. It really shows how thin the difference between the Doctor and the Master is. And how in the right circumstances, including the loss of the handy mirror villain to show how things can go wrong, a madman with a box can turn into an eldritch horror deciding the future of the universe. Two old dragons, they have seen all.

They fell in love with nice cookie.

they do not want to share with anyone, not even eachother.

They believe fighting to the death is the answer to all.

“Yo, (name)! Theres a dragon fight going in the woods right now! Wanna get a closer!” Said your best cookie friend, (friends name).

“I dont know, that seems really dangerous…” It was twelve at night. Not a single cookie roaming the streets.

“Come on! We wont get that close, just enough we can see our way back and see the fight!” Well, you’ve always wanted see what dragon fight looked like.

“Wait, theres dragons stil alive?” Your finally process what your asked. Dragons havent been seen in along time.

“I know I know, sounds crazy, but we have to go see it before it ends!” (Friends name) grabs your arm and rushes out the house.

You both are in the forest, you cant see the kingdom from here and theres no trail back. “Theres no way we’ll make it back to the kingdom…”

“Its a once i life time chance! You need to get out the house more often..” (Friends name) stops in their tracks, “Over there! I hear them.” They go running, you follow behind.

You made it to the edge of a cliff, you look down and see two dragons. Theres blood on the ground and covering their scales. Those scale patterns remind you of the gifts you received at your door, they was a yellow box with the scale of one dragon and a pink and black with the scale of the other dragon. You decided thats not a good sign, you take one step back.

“Huh? Where are you goin-” your friend instantly closes their mouth and look back at the dragons who are now staring at you both. “Uh oh..”

You both blink and The dragons seems to disappear in thin air. “What, What happened?” You both look around and see no one. You look farther down the cliff and see two small figures. “Is that them?” You say. Your friend waves. “You idiot, what are you doing!” You say pulling (friends name) arm down.

“Whaat, they might be friendly.”

“Do you see the blood covering the ground! Thats not friendly…. come on we need to leave.”

When you got home you went to your room and fell asleep, (friends name) complained how tired they were and went to sleep on the couch. Knocking in the middle of the night woke them up. They opened the door to see the same cookies they say earlier that night.

It was nine am, you woke up and went down to see if (Friend name) was awake since there was a weird smell filling the house.

“(Friends name)? (Friends name)-” you stopped talking when you saw the front door wide open. “So forgetful….” You close the door.

You walk over to the living room to see if (friends name) left that a mess too. You instead see two half cookie half dragons on your couch, they both look like they’re about to rip each other’s throats out.

“Oh, hello treasure. Howd you sleep?” The one with long white hair said.

“Dont, call them treasure, they’re mine.” The one with golden hair says.

You just stare, unresponsive.

“Oh please, like they would ever choose you Ananas.” The one with White laughs.

‘Ananas’ tackles the white haired one to the ground and start choking him. “I should have killed you when i had the chance.”

“How about we not! Atleast not in my house..” you say.

“Our first impression with them and you already made them upset, good job.” The white hair one says, still struggling under Ananas chokehold.

Ananas grabs the white hair one with one hand, gets up, and throws him out the door. “Mine.. You will never be Pitayas….” Ananas grabs you and forces your face into his chest.

“Oh come on..” Pitaya Groans as he get up. “That was a low blow….”

You finally were able to push yourself out of Ananas iron grip. “What is going on?!”

“I have been-”

“We, have been fighting for your love.” Ananas cut Pitaya off.

“Huh? I dont even know either of you..”

“You basically did. With all the gifts and protection we provided you. Last night was to decided-” Pitaya said.

“No, no no no! Im an not gonna be apart of this, you both need to leave. I dont know nor like you.” You begin to slightly shove them.

“After all this hard work, you wanna push us away? This isnt a safe option..” Ananas said.

“Just leave! I would never like either of you!”

They sigh and leave. “Playing hard to get huh? I’ll impress you one way or another…” Pitaya says.

You closed the door and walked back to your room. “This is all just a bad dream….” You put both your hands on your face. “I’ll just go back to sleep and tell (friends name) about it later….”

You woke up to the smell of burning. You look out your window and and see smoke covering it. You rushed out the front door and see fire spreading across the village. You continue to slowly walk out.

“Ya impressed yet?” Pitaya flys up next to you.

“Why would I….” You stop walking, looking down at the ground.

“You made us do it, I told you this wouldnt be the best option but you pushed us to it.” Ananas said flying to your other side.

“Now, Ananas are you ready? For the fight to the death..” Pitaya says flatly.

“Ive never been more ready Pitaya..” Ananas looks at you. “Dont think about running (Name), it’ll only make this situation worse…”

Smoke break (session 3)

Currently, I’m in my bathroom. I just finished smoking, so yea I like to hotbox my bathroom. I don’t have anything in particular to talk about it just felt the need to say, anything.

For some reason I really think I need to do shrooms. I’ve been told it’s enlightening. They show you what is true and what’s real in this world. The way I think and how much I think, it’s obviously something I care about and had a huge. Effect in my life. Just knowing how people think as well as why they think that way. Like, what leads a person to think to do something negative.

(Random subject change) I met this girl at the smoke shop I work at and she seems like she wants to be a better person, but she’s being held back by so much. Recently she had to move to Ohio not too long after meeting her. When she moved to Ohio I hear and listen to the say her mother talks and everyone around her and it seems like there almost anchoring her down, along with property and just the society in general. I hear all of this and I’m starting to think she’s just here to try to get some money some kind of way even if it’s having a baby by me just to take care of her and hers because she she’s I have something going for myself. I think she thinks my rolling paper business is goin to be big and she thinks it would be nice to get a piece of it. I only say all of this because I can tell she holding back. It also seems like her mom is one of those “stuck in her ways” adults as well as “it’s my way or no way” kind of person.

For some reason I just haven’t been as motivated lately, so today is a whole different day/week.

I’m outside thinking it’s ok to care less, but don’t be careless. With everything I know now I’m just trying to figure out the best way to climb.

So, basically I’ve found out two major situations that are goin to take place in the near future. 1.) we’re about to lose currency. No more cash. So I’m going to assume no more atms. I’ve never believe in conspiracy theories that much until now. The creator of cashapp died not long after they made the announcement that fed now was taking its place. Fed now will be what cashapp and Venmo and all of those apps are right now. To sum it all up in my own words and thoughts, I’m assuming the government wants to keep track of all of our money. With the US being in, I think some odd number of trillion of dollars, I get it. BUT, at the same time, do you really expect people to not have untraceable money when everything just seems off balance. By that I mean, what we’re being paid and how much essential items are, don’t exactly add up. The cost of living vs the minimum wage amount. The minimum wage amount vs organic food. Speaking of organic food, that leads me to my next major situation I came across.

Food. Apparently I read that our food is about to start being injected with the Covid vaccine, im assuming for the ones who didn’t take it. BUT, why is it so important that the vaccine is consumed. The only thing I can think of is there’s something in it that’ll control us in a certain type of way. It’s all about control. From financially when I was talkin about it earlier to now with the food and our health. Why do they want to control the population, or is it the Popo that ensures poverty. I was gonna say the black population, but it’s obvious, there are more of us living in poverty vs anyone else, but there are other people going through the same thing we are. BUT to contradict that, we’re still the masses of people in poverty. Maybe we really do have something they want, or need. Maybe the movie “get out” was ahead of its time.

I’m not sure why or what’s going on but, right now I’m hungry and debating whether or not I’m going to order doordash or just make chicken sandwiches and fries. I’m feeling like I deserve to treat myself so doordash it is.

-ok. so just from yutos like exposition of saying he knows of kaito and his expression is different now (and us seein a flashback to a smiley happy kaito…) …and the lack of orbital and his photon form and the fact he was going to be a duel champion…haruto never got sick in this au version did he? which means faker wouldnt have had to shove tron/kazuma into the barian/astral portal thingy, and faker wouldnt have made a deal w vector or made kaito a numbers hunter? so he could focus on his own goals and live a more normal life I guess? so..does that mean yuma and astral NEVER MET?? DO THEY EVEN EXIST IN THIS WORLD. SAD. like even in a world that seemed to be kinder to kaito by not making his dad such a dick or his bro sick, he still got fucked over by a WAR in the end which is worse than what happened in zexal akjsfkjhn. well. at least this kaito hasnt taken the Moon Trip.

-ohhh my gosh yuto, shun, and ruri in casual clothes hangin out and watching kaito duel (also, this heartland has duel schools! named after card suites! thats fun) shun and kaito must be the same age, right? …so I assume the flashback is when they were 17ish and kaito is 18 now like in zexal? so the attack on heartland took place over the course of a few months to a year (ongoing it seems like but only to get stragglers now…oof) I thought shun, ruri and yuto were all the sameish age but nope. knowing yuzu and yuya are 14 makes me think all the counterparts are the same, so its probably pretty likely all three went to normal (non dueling) school together AND then duel school together, but yuto and ruri are prob in the same age so they mightve been friends first from going to the same school, and ruri later introduced yuto to her brother? so they have a cute lil trio now…this is my headcanon. (it rly does seem like all the yuboys and bracelet girlies were bffs from young ages EXCEPT serena and yuri jkdshfk)

-also can I assume at least SOME of the original characters from zexal are in this universe if not yuma for whatever reason (and prob not any of the barians?) like. would kotori have been goin to school and been in the grade right under yuto/ruri? …I want ruri and her to be bird friends

-the ED is still a dsod commercial booo let me see the ed animation! I had to go look it up on youtube. and its prob my least fav so far sadjfhkj its nice looking but so Plain compared to the others..the song is nice?

-oh my god kaito said he dueled yuto countless times and yet it took him halfway into the duel to realize yuya looked like him. kaito faceblind like me confirmed? also I like how kaito didnt beat yuya SUper fast like jack did the first time lol, makes me think yuyas getting a lot stronger gradually which is fun!

-yuto during the kaito stuff started speaking to yuya? he literally has not regularly done that at all up until this point. was..he able to do that all along and just Never did?? lmao?? not even to pass along messages to his bestie shun??? nope, kaito is Thee Important Guy to talk to yuya abt I Guess haha. good to see him again. also still good that yuya is not Questioning Why yuto is Tagging along inside of him or why that happened in the first place. lol

I was under the impression his entertainment dueling was created separately but No. they worked together. classic ygo dads moment. and yuyas dad looked tiny baby reiji in the eyes after being asked to be the leader of the lancers and decided to go do stuff on his own anyway to try and TALK to leo. SNUGGIE??? thought u had beef with xyz but maybe ur mad the barians stole ur fit like HUH. WHAT IS THAT OUTFIT. LMAO. MY BRAIN IS GOIN KABONKERS

gets ready for Xen happily rambles about the Final Episode of Alan Becker, THE KING

i was supposed to ramble about this last night/ after its premiere, but i was so sleepy lol-

For those who do not know about the series, I highly recommend watching from Episode 1 before this episode to prevent spoilers and confusion.

Basic Information:

AVM - ANIMATION VS. MINECRAFT

this amazing series that I always ramble and brainrot about is made by one of my favorites, Godliest Animator of the whole time, Alan Becker! (It is also a part of my childhood btw.) The Mini animated series features 5 stick figures, Second Coming, Blue, Green, Red and Yellow who are created by Alan himself on his computer, the legendary AAA game, Minecraft is also featured in the series. The series' plot basically starts with the Stick figures messing around and playing with the minecraft icon which it then turns to the five venturing deep into the world of minecraft, from a soft or happy story to intense and angsty lore, the series currently contains 3 Seasons and 30 Episodes, it started in the year 2015.

Now I'm gonna talk about the final Episode:

The King [Ep. 30]

Honestly...this has to be the best episodes and one of my favorites from the series itself, Alan and his Animation crew outdone themselves, making the 7-8 months of work and compilation all worth it, all I have to tell them is they did an Epic job and thanks to them, the episode was possible to be made, I thank all of them, including Alan for making this series, its already like the series we see on our local TVs, but this is different. There are no voices, nor dialogues, but just Stickfigures, movements, perspectives and beautiful music, and an epic Tale of 5 stickfigures.

I also had no idea King Neo/Orange's background was like that, what DJ (Alan's friend) said from the commentary was true, "Every villain is actually a hero in their own stories/head", yes, just look at how Orange hated minecraft because of the test gameplay and glitch that happened which caused his son's/sibling's demise, he just wanted to get his son back, unfortunately King can't because his beloved one is already dead. (maybe.)

The glitch scene, specifically THIS scene

This. Shocked me. It reminded me so much of Pibby apocalypse. I was screaming "NOOOOO" while the video progressed, look at Orange :(, much worse, HE SAW HIS OWN BELOVED ONE DIE AT THE FRONT OF HIS VERY OWN EYES!!! I MEAN- WHO WOULDNT BE ON DESPAIR SEEING THAT? YOUR LOVED ONE, MEETING THEIR DEMISE INFRONT OF YOUR VERY OWN EYES!! My goodness...ALL I CAN SAY THIS IS VERY GOOD, SNACKABLE ANGST HMHMHMHMUHEHHE. The quality of the animation was so good too! The series really became an anime in a matter of time lmao-

next up, when Orange planned how to destroy minecraft, I saw some scientific formulas there which activated nightmare fuels..hahahhehe. Mans really doing everything just to get his son back :(

When Purple saw that Orange was looking for the colored stickfigures (because he saw them playing minecraft at one of the local tvs in the city, he figured out they might know where the minecraft icon is and help him destroy it.), Purple went to Orange, telling him that he has already met them. Proving that, Purple did some fighting moves, but Orange didnt respond, Next, Purple pulled up and elytra which was from minecraft and equipped it, flew up and away with a firework and Orange finally responded and took him in.

Finally, the fight scene. Purple punching King Orange was kinda satisfying after that betrayal, but the staff was stolen by Orange once again so their plan to catch King Orange failed-

HEROBRINE MADE A FRICKING APPEARANCE LMFAO I WAS ROFL SO HARD BECAUSE MANS WAS JUST DODGING LIKE THE ZERO TWO MEME 😭😭 ALSO. He possessed red again, that also shocked me, i was shouting "EPISODE ONE FLASHBACK?!?!?!" I JUST- AUSHEJEHWN ITS TOO EPICLY AMAZING AND FANTASTIC

the movements were also clear to see, I wonder how many animators animated every single stickfigure and mob in there to make the movements-

ENDGAME PART OR WHERE THE WHITE THINGY- VOID THING GOT STRONGER FROM THE STAFF, I STARTED TO STIM SO HARD BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD AND INTENSE, CUE THE MUSIC AND GRAPHIC, LOOK AT THE 6 STICKFIGURES GOING ONE BY ONE TO THE KING TRYING TO STOP HIM FROM DESTROYING MINECRAFT,, THEY WERE PUT IN THE WHITE VOID AND THAT CAUSED THEM TO GLITCH! THEN-THEN-

Purple stood up and ran to King Orange, he countered the white void, reaching his hand to the King, this activated Flashbacks of the tragic Past, Purple struggling similar to Orange's son struggling to get out of the glitch. and when Purple gave up, Orange put the staff down and ran to Purple, he then realized that he was doing the same thing that Minecraft did to his son. He also realized Purple was the only one who understands him, who was with him through his plan and is like his beloved one, He also jumped in to the void to get Purple as his memories of him betraying Purple flashed, but Purple dissapeared to particles as Orange also dissapeared..

ALSO! SECOND COMING'S QUICK THINKING WORKED, SAVING EVERYONE OMFG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

The way they did everything together just to stop minecraft from getting destroyed..the audacity of these 5 stick figures, I love them and their friendship so much!

And now the part that really made me scream.

This scene.

I know some actually dislike the ship, King Orange x Purple because their relationship is more of a Father and Son dynamic, but for me and as one of the ones liking their dynamic, I actually cried when they hugged..King Orange is the new Father Purple needed, and Purple is the new son King Orange needed. I cried so much at this part, being happy because they finally realized they needed each other to fill the hole in their hearts. NOT TO MENTION THE DRAMATIC MUSIC HOLY GDOSYQJHWJQHWMAHAKH

having mayhem mode is SO SO FUN like it literally feels SO good and fun and it goes with the pace of the action SO perfeclty brother . also luis is REALLY fun, so far each character has a VERY different play style and i like how luis is a lot more run and gun vs leon where he’s like . alright im goin to fold you like a pancake brother . these hands are rated E for EVERYONE . ive only played leon and luis so far, but everyone having different animations and melee kills !?!? SO damn awesome bro !!!!!!!!!! i love luis’ steel pipe attack its so satisfying . i ended up dying to a bella sister on his run cause i laid a dynamite in a bad position but OOF !!! also they’ve changed it so you can’t just run around and grab time bonuses all at the start, you gotta grab them as they pop up !!!!!!! SO cool

I’m considering starting my own tournament. Do you have any advice? How do you get so many people to take part in the tournament? What did you use to make the tournament bracket?

i honestly am just rawdogging this but if i had any advice it would be the choose recognizable characters and a category a lot of people understand. people will vote even if theyre not super passionate about the topic as long as they understand whats goin' on.

Oh god so, since ive been watching and reading black butler a lot again Ive obviously also been thinking a lot abt it and it made me unlock this memory qnd have this kinda harrowing realization

For context, I was pretty active on Wattpad at the time, specifically the german side, specifically the german minecraft youtuber side, although I was slowly getting into fully fictional ships at that point as well. One day, one of the people I followed made this "book" or whatever that was like, a roleplay ? Idk the way it worked was that you would 'apply' by just making your character under the comments of one chapter and then go to the comment section of the next chapter where the creator had a comment that was like "RP starts here" and then you replied to that and thats where the rp took place. There wasnt really any direction to this whole thing lmao it was called like "Wattpadtown" or smth and the "premise" was literally just "a bunch of people who got some weird bullshit goin on hanging out in this wacky town" and the entire roleplay was basicalld just one extended shitpost, I really wish I could find it and read through some of it because it was WILD

We ended up being like 8 "main" people in this roleplay (rip to all the other people who applied lmao there were a lot surprisingly enough) and I actually became somewhat close friends w/ the person who started it although we never took it out of the wattpad comments section, at me most we would pm eachother so we've unfortunately lost contact lol. One thing to note about all 8 of us was that we were all pretty big billdip shippers. This is important bc the reason I got into Black Butler because of billdip basically lmao

Like, idk if these were that popular in other fandoms, but there were a lot of these Ask or Dare book for Billdip were you would ask your favorite characters/ships questions or tell them dares or whatever and then someone would write the weirdest most poorly written bullshit around it and its really funny I hope they still make those. But yknow, just having two guys interact in your ask or dare book is kinda boring so you'd get a lot of crossovers with other pairings, popular ones were like Willdip, Mawill, Tomco I remember a german one that had the bluehaired guy x the redhaired guy from Assassination Classroom that was fun. And obviously they would do Sebaciel, like, those two ships are soooooooo in the same ballpark its insane. Anyway, so Im reading this one ask or dare book, mostly for the billdip stuff but Sebastian n Ciel are also there and in one of the chapters they get this dare: "everyone, watch the corset scene from the anime" I remember this very vividly. These ask or dare books could get very meta btw. So they do that ig, and we get their reactions idk how Bill n Dipper reacted but Ciel is all flustered and Sebastian is all flirty or whatever bc the characterization in these books is the bane of my existence. Whatever, the important part is, Im kind of intrigued now bc I was coming out of that in that phase where anything gay seemed like, Scandalous and Exciting(tm) because I was starting to get used to it by that point bc I read a lot of gay fanfic HOWEVER media that had like, canon gay shit in it still seemed Scandolous and Exciting(tm) because yknow, i didnt know a lot of that and its also just different consuming fan content vs Actual Media(tm) yknow. So I watched it and I enjoyed it and I got to The Corset Scene and.. I was not disappointed thats for sure

So thats my story, lets get back to the roleplay stuff. Me and those 8 people would often talk (still in the wattpad comment section) about like, other stuff and one evening the creator wrote like "Heyy can anyone recommend an anime to me, I just binged attack on titan again but now Im sad again because my fave Marco died and like, yeah I have this theory that hes still alive as a titan but still :'( need something to cheer me up" idk why I remember this so vividly now because Ive only watched a single episode of aot so this is borderline incomprehensible to me to this day but whatever. I know she liked billdip and since I liked billdip and then I watched black butler and really liked it I jumped on the chance to tell her to watch it. ALSO I knew that she looooved pretty anime guys and Sebastian is a very pretty and very anime guy so I knew she would adore it. So then she tells me that shes gonna go find and watch it and Im like "YESSSSSSS pls tell me what you think"

Less than 10 minutes later she writes me back like "okayyyyy Im loving it so far (and Sebastian is reaaaallly cute xD) I just have one question tho: why do they have british accents" and I didnt really think anything of it I was just kinda like "Yeah it takes place in 19th century england ig" but I just came to a weirdly upsetting realization; she was definitely not watching it in japanese but also, they dont do accents in the german dub which means......... Ciel and Sebastian have british accents in the english dub.

#this ended up being wayyy longer than I thought lol #but the Historical Context was just too IMPORTANT yknow #also i literally gasped when I realized that #i dont know why it never occured to me #like it seems obvious to me now #but its still so upsetting #like theyre insufferable enough just by virtue of being two guys in victorian times #you dont have to constantly remind me of that via their accents man #OH GOD #claude faustus with a british accent im gonna fucking die #some personal shit #kuroshitsuji #black butler

Bamboo Girl (issue #8) is a zine by Sabrina Margarita Sandata (also known as Sabrina Margarita Alcantara-Tan), a queer mestiza Pilipino* writing about her life in 1990s New York City. The zine emphasizes Asian & Asian-American and queer experiences, containing interviews, mythology, articles, letters, and reviews. Frustrated by a lack of representation of Asian women outside of infantilizing and fetishizing magazines, Alcantara-Tan started Bamboo Girl to fill the gap and talk about her own experiences being queer, mixed, and punk. Magandang Araw!

(That’s “Good Day!” in “You’ll-have-to-create-a-gun-to-conquer-us” Pilipino)

Since the past issue, I’ve been living bone dry, and trying to suck money out of rocks. I don’t want any violins playing in the background or anything, I’m sure things will be changing with the new year! But that’s what prolonged me to get this baby to you.

I thought I’d share that I got hitched. Yes, you stronghold dykes, to a guy. He’s a good person, and it’s an interesting lifestyle to have after being in “obvious” dykeness and queerdom beforehand (just because you get married doesn’t mean that your queerdom evaporates like water or was never there in the first place – I write more about this later, I’ll shut up about it now). The reason I introduce this is because it affects my life (duh), subsequently my writing, and has already changed my “status” within certain lesbian “pro-queer” circles. Let’s just say I’m really learning who my friends are and learning more about my own perceptions of what queer means – like, if you still are after getting married. To me, that’s a redundant question, because if you are to begin with, you still are when goin’ down that runway.

For a change, I actually didn’t mind spending the xmas holidays with my parents. It was the first time that we actually had fun while opening presents – before, it felt so superficial, such a “let’s pretend were a happy family although we really hate each other” feeling. Forcing smiles into the camera. When I was younger, I was always jealous of the “All-American family” lifestyle, where your mom is like Mrs. Cleaver, your dad plays ball with you in your backyard.

In contrast, my mom and I hated each other (we still have differences, but it’s better now) and my dad was never home. Now, older and more aware of cultural differences between how my parents brought me up vs. being in a “typical” White American household (whatever that means), I have a better idea of where my parents came from. Not to say I agreed with it, but at least I understand.

Also, for the first time, I pushed myself to interact with others at a xmas party so that people would feel better. My mom had guests over, and everyone was pretty quiet because there was really nothing to do and some of my mom’s friends were dealing with some heavily family problems. So I dragged out karaoke machine out of the basement (practically every Pinoy family had one, yes we do!) and started belting out melodies with my un-warmed-up voice. Then I had people take turns picking stuff to sing. Oh Christ, we were laughing because a good majority of us sucked.

It was funny too, being that this was the first time I was spending time in Pittsburgh as a married girl. I was expecting my mom to say to my counterpart, “go sleep in the spare room,” like she used to whenever I’d visit Pgh. with ex’s. But she didn’t this time. And I was like, “Of yeah. That’s right. I’m married now. She can’t say anything!” I laughed to myself for a while after that.

I also learned a lot about my personality while staying with my parents. I had all our Hi 8 movies, the ones my mom and dad took of my bro, sis and I, transferred to VHS. I forgot I had it done until I saw the title in our drawer and stuck it into the VCR late one night. I had my parents join my dude and I. One thing I found out was how evident peoples’ personalities are so early on in life, and how they’re not so different to how you [page 2] turn out. My baby brother was quiet and had no emotion on his face, except when he freaked out once smiling so much he drooled. In contrast, I was always aware of the camera, my playmates, hyper, active, waving, giving attitude, smiling and running around. Damn, I don’t remember being so happy at that age. Either that, or I was already aware of the “look nice” conditioning my mom was into. It was pretty funny, seeing my mom with her long ironed hair (it’s naturally curly), and my dad with his sideburns and black rimmed glasses, looking like cool Bruce Lee.

As usual, I’ve been sticking my finger into many pies, and having fun doing it…

Performance art and speaking at colleges, which is always fun – I love hanging out with college kids, they’ve got a lot on their minds, are really proactive and ask questions.

Making video shorts. My most recent one where I was taught how to set up camp at a jungle survival training course in the Philippines, led by an Aeta (the indigenous Pilipinos); this was part of my footage taken while on my trip to the Philippines in Subic (before Dick Gordon got ousted.)
