This scene will definitely be a set up of how Aegon rules (without motivation at first). I think, he still doubts Alicent's words that Viserys approved of him as king. And even if he did believe, he still thinks and feels like he's not cut out for the job and that brews some fear and insecurity.
You can spot some subjects that don't bow in this pic and Otto in the front waiting to steer Aegon. We could see how eager or not Aegon is to address his subjects as well as how he responds to Otto.
It's very probable that the scene of him on the throne here appearing pissed could be when a defiant lord, one of those that have not bowed to him in the throne room shot above, challenges his authority.
Tumblr media
I mean, let's face it. Beesbury's death is being kept a secret and his house is probably there to demand answers. Aegon also looks a bit dishevelled, especially his hair...giving the impression he came later than expected and Otto is displeased with him, as well as some of his subjects who were waiting.
Tumblr media
Should one of the lords speak out against Aegon, he could order they be detained, against Otto's directive not to do so. Aegon could use that chance to spurn Otto's control and show his subjects he's capable of ruling with an iron fist. Defiance will not be tolerated.
Ruling as King will begin as a game for Aegon, using power to serve vegeance to anyone that mistreated him, especially Otto, and maybe Alicent to a lesser extent.
However, Blood and Cheese could be the incident that finally thrusts Aegon into reevaluating the importance of his responsibilities as King. He's been warned by Alicent many times that the lives of his loved ones would be made forfeit if Rhaenyra took the throne. Loss, grief and vengeance will give him the motivation he lacks.
Tumblr media
Since episode 9 of season 1 failed to show Aegon accepting to be king so as to protect his family, I imagine s2 will rectify this glaring problem by having Aegon take it upon himself to protect what remains of his family after B&C. Spite, guilt and anger will drive him into being more responsible if not more serious and proactive.

Luke (24) in his Revenge Era (in my fic draft), years after the Storm's End incident (Gone Girl quote paraphrased) :
"He almost took out my eye... His pet, Vhagar, ate my dragon, causing me to fall 300 feet from the sky into the sea. I haven't seen my family for seven years and I would be dead if it wasn't for the kind people of this village taking me in.
I have no dragon, no title, no weapons.
Do you think I would allow Aemond to ruin me and end up happier than ever, quenching his thirst for my family's blood in a war that he initiated?

Theories I’ve Seen About HOTD Season 2 Rated
Rhaenyra will be the one to order Blood & Cheese but Daemon will take the fall for it, both immediately and to be remembered by history. 9/10. There is something about this theory that I just absolutely love. Maybe it’s the idea of Rhaenyra taking explicit action, maybe it’s the fact that it’s something that would cast her in a genuinely morally dubious light, maybe it’s just that one face Emma D’Arcy made in the trailer that made it look like Rhaenyra was ready for absolute murder. No matter what I think this is an intriguing theory that could very well happen.
Helaena will turn to Team Black. 5/10. The reason that this is exactly in the middle is because there are one or two right ways to do this…and about fifty million wrong ways to. You know what I would be down for? Helaena, who knows the pain of losing a son, cannot defend the way her family keeps justifying Lucerys’ death to herself, right as Baela and Rhaena realize that they are going to get tossed over for Rhaenyra’s sons no matter what happens. The girls team up and burn some shit down. Very unrealistic but I would love it.
Nettles will be replaced by Rhaena. -10/10. Please, please no, I am begging y’all not to do this. At best we’re taking away an interesting character, at worst we are turning Daemon into something he is very much not (and I say this as someone who hates the man).
Helaena is pregnant with/will give birth to Maelor. 8/10. This seems likely, and I am also begging for it to happen because I really don’t like the implications of a Maelor-less B&C…
Aegon & Aemond will fight over Helaena. 1/10. Please, no, I hate this. Feels very reductive towards all three of their characters.
Rhaenys will die this season. 8/10. Given the timeline this seems very likely. Her scenes in the trailer gave me some “wise mentor giving last bits of advice” vibes, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what leads to…
Rhaenyra goes completely mad this season. 7/10. The only reason this is rated slightly lower is because I agree with a lot of people that Rhaenyra’s death will be pushed back as far as possible, probably into the final season. Depending on how “mad queen” she goes, that could lead to a lot of viewers being frustrated with her, and I don’t see the writers going so hard so early. But I think we’ll at least start to see slips in judgment later in the season.
Otto Hightower dies. 8/10. This is absolutely something I can see happening in the season finale (we did have that clip in the teaser of Daemon seemingly beheading someone). This is the way I can see the show going “the Dance is getting really serious now.”

Ok, so, this is probably ridiculous, and I can't believe I have a House of the Dragon theory before it even airs (I can barely believe I have a HOTD theory at all), but...
Since the release of The Princess and the Queen in 2013, and through everything published about the Dance of the Dragons since then (TRP, TWOIAF, F&B), it's known that Daemon and Aemond Targaryen have a lot of parallels. Besides the most obvious point of their names (just move the D, lol), they're both hotheaded, vengeful, kinslayers, brutal and ruthless, excellent swordsmen, more martial and physically active than their kingly older brother who they were nevertheless devoted to... culminating in their final showdown in the Battle Over the Gods Eye, the aging older model vs the would-be "new hotness". Though a major difference is that fandom tends to treat Aemond as far more of a pretentious wannabe, a bad Xerox copy with his marysueish sapphire eye and ooh so hardcore dialogue, generally disliked while Daemon is beloved (or at least opinions are far more split), the Darkstar to his Oberyn.
As for HOTD -- though we have yet to see how normie fandom and newbies will react to these two characters once they both start doing their thing, one thing I've noticed from the trailers is that most new people just cannot tell them apart. I have a friend (with no interest in ASOIAF but who's seen the ads multiple times during his shows) who thought Aemond was Matt Smith in an eyepatch. And Matt and Ewan Mitchell do look remarkably and surprisingly alike.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That same flat square jaw from the front but cut cheekbones from the side, similar noses and lips, even when in costume the same lack of eyebrows for goodness sake... Well, maybe this is just highly similar Targaryen wigs and makeup, maybe it's just good casting, following the evident show-Targaryen family look. Maybe the showrunners just chose a young actor who looks a bit like Matt Smith and costumed him similarly as a way to hammer home the parallels between the characters. But. What if this casting and costuming means something... more?
We know that one of the in-world text sources of the Dance is the scurrilous Testimony of Mushroom, which claimed that Alicent was no virgin when married, having previously slept with Viserys and even senile King Jaehaerys (which I most thoroughly doubt, that's just Mushroom's typical slander). We know that Otto Hightower detested Daemon, all the sources concurring, if no reason given except perhaps "Lord Flea Bottom"'s known behavior. We know that per interviews etc, in the show Daemon is said to have a complex relationship with his brother Viserys, loving yet jealous. We know that, well, HBO is HBO, as bad as Mushroom, and loves to add sexy scandalous scenes for water-cooler and social media buzz, even if they're claiming it won't be so bad and blatant as GOT with HOTD. So... what if, in the show, there's some kind of... incident, between Daemon and Alicent, a seduction or maybe, um, not the greatest level of consent, and then a little bit of time and Alicent tells Viserys she's pregnant again? Perhaps there won't be anything overt, nothing ever said, just implied via nasty looks and snatches of dialogue... but what if? There's no Maury Povich or DNA testing in Westeros...
Mind you, a big flaw in this theory is that in the books, Daemon was absent from court from late 105 to 111 AC, either on Dragonstone or in the Stepstones, and Aemond was born in 110 AC. But we already know that HOTD's adaptation is playing a bit with timelines, making Alicent and Rhaenyra about the same age whereas Alicent was 9 years older in the books. We don't yet know how they might tweak the ages of their children -- though from the trailers and behind-the-scenes videos, Aemond seems to be far closer to the ages of Jacaerys and Lucerys (in the Vhagar incident scenes they all look 10-12-ish, rather than 10, 6, and 5, and the actors are 12, 13, and 8). And imagine-- the parallels (not just between Daemon and Aemond, but Alicent and Rhaenyra), the greek tragedy levels of irony... it would be amazing.
So. I suppose we'll see. This could be completely crack, based on nothing more than the somewhat similar appearances of actors cast as uncle and nephew. But if it does go down that way, if show-Daemon has a son he could never ever acknowledge... don't say I didn't warn you.

HotD confirms Aemond COULD be the father
There is a post in the Helaemond tag saying it isn’t possible in canon for Aemond to be the father of Helaena’s children because of the opening sequence. Here to show you how that isn’t true at all and could possibly lean more into giving a hint Aemond is the father.
First let’s look at how the blood lines flow from Rhaenrya
Tumblr media
and Laena..
Tumblr media
One clear single path of blood and it doesn’t part until it reaches the children's sigils. Now, let’s look at Alicent’s..
Tumblr media
The blood splits quite early into their individual blood lines and then Helaena/Aegon/Aemond’s merge together again. Which means Aemond’s blood mixes with Aegon’s. It’s not like above where Aemond and Daeron start out as the same bloodline, split, and stay separated.
Let’s look at how the blood flows into their sigils..
Tumblr media
If you look closely where Aemond and Aegon’s blood connects, Aemond’s blood literally flows into Aegon’s. Their bloodlines are more connected than Aegon and Helaena’s.
In case you don’t believe me here is the proof. Aemond’s blood literally flowed into Aegon’s more as you can see below.
Tumblr media
Now some might say well that means nothing but let’s look at the other Sigils that are sets of 3.
Rhaenyra’s children - split evenly
Tumblr media
Helaena’s children - also split evenly
Tumblr media
It’s almost as if something suspicious is going on with Helanea/Aegon/Aemond.
But the blood didn’t flow through Aemond’s sigil so it can’t happen!
So? The sigil is there to let you know who’s blood is whose. No one from the show has confirmed it has to come from the sigil. As long as his blood connects to hers in some way it’s possible.
But Aemond was too young to father 6 year olds!
Helaena’s children are not 6 in the show. 3-4 at the oldest. It’s quite obvious by small they are. If anyone says differently then they are arguing in bad faith. He doesn’t even have to be the father of the twins. Aemond could only be the father of Maelor. Alicent does have the line saying “1 is mistake, 3 is an insult” about Rhaenyra’s bastards.
It is funny how many people will argue Aemond is 18-19 in the show but as soon as it comes to him maybe fathering Helaena’s children, they will turn around and say he’s 16.
Just a FYI - this post wasn’t made to confirm Aemond is the father, It’s to prove that its canonically possible for him to be.

After this episode, it kind of makes me uncomfortable to think of Aegon (or Aemond) having sex with Helaena. I thought she was in the spectrum as a kid, but the dinner scene convinced me she was ok and definetly more sociable. Then on ep9 the way she acts with Alicent, distancing herself and saying her prophecies randomly, I felt weird of how much aware she was of reality in order to consent to sex. Not saying autistic people can't have a normal life, but I can't stop thinking she was actually abused. Maybe that's why Aegon had to be drunk to do it. Cause twisted as he is, imagine raping your autistic sister Then the only person in the family she let close to her is Aemond. I mean physically. In sum, Helmond is taking over my mind and it would be huge if Daemon had in fact taken revenge on Aemond's children. Mysaria was pretty active and thriving during the time the Helaena's children were conceived and we know Talya was her informant. Now that would be the perfect twist, wouldn't it? Let me know your thoughts.

Okay, I just want to talk about this. There are only TWO times we see Rhaenys wearing a hairpiece (or a CROWN, if you will). The first is at her son’s wedding. The wedding where he is marrying the daughter of the man who one could accuse of usurping Rhaenys’ throne and said son’s birthright to eventually sit on his mother’s throne. And not only is he marrying Rhaenys’ replacement’s daughter, he’s marrying the young woman who is being given the throne Rhaenys was denied BECAUSE of her gender, while her son’s fiancée has already been named heir DESPITE her gender.
The next time Rhaenys wears a hairpiece (or CROWN) is to inform Rhaenyra the Iron Throne is being usurped by a younger, male relative. She is also wearing it when Rhaenyra is officially crowned Queen, a title The Queen That Never Was very obviously was denied.
There is no way it is a coincidence that Rhaenys Targaryen, The Queen That Never Was, wears a crown to her son’s wedding to the female heir to the Iron Throne & wears a crown to the abrupt coronation of the first leading Queen of Westeros. I’m not going to make any conclusions, other than the fact that HOTD’s costume department is full of geniuses & Rhaenys Targaryen is a BAMF to walk into King’s Landing in a crown, then watch Rhaenyra’s coronation in a crown (while not bending the knee). The woman is truly a queen, whether she ever sat on the Iron Throne or not. 🙇‍♀️👑🙇‍♀️ New Addition: So I was rewatching the first episode and happened to notice that Rhaenys wore a hairpiece a third time on the show. When? Oh, just during the Great Council, when she’s basically usurped by Viserys, her younger, male relative. Seriously, the costume department are geniuses. Having Rhaenys only wear crowns when she’s making a direct statement about her superiority to sit on the Iron Throne and each time, she never made it there, is brilliant. The woman’s a Queen, no matter what her nickname says.

Alicent is about to face her biggest challenge in s2 because her orders to Aegon, Aemond and even Helaena will merely become suggestions. The children are in their prime power now and can afford to challenge and defy her when they see fit.

“You are no conqueror, you are a plague.”
In this scene from the trailer weeks ahead (episode 3 or 4), we can clearly see that Daemon is in smallcloths while Viserys is threatening him with the dagger, which means that he must have been found in bed with Rhaenyra. The story will become canon.

On the matter of Wild Dragons
So the existence of Wild Dragons like The Cannibal, Grey Ghost, and Sheepstealer always intrigued me because due to their very nature of being wild, unclaimed dragons poses some interesting questions that lead to some interesting conclusions.
The fact they are unclaimed and have never been claimed makes me wonder how exactly that happened.
Now, I'm not an expert on ASOIAF, I've admittedly never been able to read the series in full because some of the content is deeply uncomfortable for me to read, but one thing I've noticed is that, for the most part, it's generally considered that dragon eggs are hatched most often in the cradle of a Targaryen child, but it isn't always the case.
Sunfyre's egg hatched on Dragonstone.[3] Although his exact year of birth has not been stated, he was described as being a "young" dragon in 120 AC[4] and 129 AC.[2][5] Sunfyre is known to have been older than Tessarion.[5] Although it is unknown when exactly Prince Aegon Targaryen claimed Sunfyre as his mount, he is known to have been claimed by the prince by 120 AC.[4]
I've taken this from the ASOIAF wiki and when I first read it, it caught my eye. Sunfyre wasn't a cradle egg, he was hatched on Dragonstone (year unclear). This is really the first instance I noticed that implied that dragons were hatched independently, to some degree, without first being given to a Targaryen child.
From what I can gather several other dragons, namely Meleys, from HOTD weren't hatched from a cradle egg, though some aren't as clearly stated.
Caraxes, Tessarion, Syrax, and Dreamfyre are all dragons which are implied as already being 'young' by the time they were first claimed and/or had no previous riders. Caraxes is unclear due to the fact that it is said that an egg was placed in Prince Aemon's cradle but it isn't made clear it was Caraxes' egg.
Aemon Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone and heir apparent of the Iron Throne, claimed Caraxes for the first time in 72 AC. The Dragonkeepers considered him to be the fiercest of all the young dragons of the Dragonpit and nicknamed him the "Blood Wyrm".
If Caraxes hatched from the egg in Aemon's cradle they would have already bonded but going by Aemon's birth year, he was 17 in 72 AC when he claimed Caraxes.
Syrax was also described as being a 'young' dragon when Rhaenyra claimed/mounted her for the first time, she was also named by Rhaenyra which implies she hadn't been named previously and thus was unbonded or unclaimed. Rhaenyra was also described as being her sole rider.
So, given this information, we can assume that dragon eggs have hatched independently, without outside intervention, though to what degree of independence is uncertain.
Yet all of those dragons weren't considered wild by any means. All of them had been housed either in the Dragonpit or in the Dragonmont prior to being claimed.
So how exactly did the Wild Dragons end up as Wild Dragons?
In the case of The Cannibal, it's a bit murky since we are given differing accounts of how old he is thought to be, with some claims saying he was already on Dragonstone when Aenar Targaryen and the others arrived, while some maesters doubt these claims.
Sheepstealer and Grey Ghost are different however since they are younger, and we have a better idea of when they hatched.
Sheepstealer is said to have hatched while King Jaehaerys was young, implying it was during the early years of his reign, while Grey Ghost is only said to be a young dragon during the Dance of the Dragons. (Given I haven't found anything solid that explains the rate at which dragons mature at, the timeline is vague at best.)
How exactly did Sheepstealer and Grey Ghost end up wild while other independently hatched dragons like Meleys or Caraxes didn't?
This really is just me rambling at this point because my ADHD just took the question of 'how did the wild dragons end up as wild dragons?' and ran with it.
I would love to hear other people's theories since I haven't really seen any others on the topic.

Posting this here bc I’ve seen some people share or regurgitate ideas/information I’ve come up with or discovered without crediting me and I’ve yet to see anyone else discuss this. I did share this on Twitter shortly after discovering it but I’ve since deactivated my Twitter, though if necessary I can reactivate to show the original post.
A week or so ago, I was reading the official Targaryen family tree on HBO’s Hotd website and came across something I found interesting—in every description/bio where a COUPLE’S children are mentioned, the writers of these bios have used the words “have/has/had” except for both Helaena and Aegon’s bios which state that they “share” children.
Share and have in this context (or any tbh) are not synonymous, therefore I find it noteworthy that their bios are written this way. It could be absolutely nothing, it could be a hidden clue as shows and films have oftentimes left for audiences to uncover. Either way, I choose to believe this could be an indicator that Helaena’s children are not Aegon’s but are, in fact, Aemond’s. And that she and Aegon merely “share” the children in the legal sense.
I will also point out that “share” is also used to describe Rhaenyra’s relationship with Harwin Strong and that Rhaenys, Aemma, Laena, and Jaehaerys’ bios do not describe their children under the same circumstances, instead simply stating that they “mothered/fathered” them or are a “mother/father of” said children.
Again, only Helaena and Aegon’s supposed children are described in this manner.

Demon's ring. Predictions that may never come true, but a girl can dream.
Ok this is a theory that I don't think will come true, but I think that if it did, it would be a succession of scenes full of symbolism that I think would please fans even those who are not fans of Deamyra.
We know that there is a great connection between some members of the Tragaryen house with their rings, the characters whose rings present a great symbolism are, in my opinion: Aemma, Viserys and Daemon. These rings present the emblem of the Targaryen house. I honestly don't know if Rhaenyra owns one, but the character still has a nervous habit of fiddling with her rings.
We know that Viserys kept Aemma's ring until the moment of his death, which tells us that for Viserys the ring represented Aemma's spirit and that he kept the ring to have a means of connection with his deceased wife. The other great means to feel that connection was his love for his daughter Rhaenyra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So far we have not been introduced to the character of Daemon without using his ring with the emblem of the Targaryen house, which in my opinion shows that it is the most valuable of his possessions along with his dragon Caraxes and his sword "Dark Sister". This is because the three objects mentioned above are what make him a member of the Tragaryen house and not just any man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My theory is that when Daemon dies far from Rahenyra (I know that many have the theory that they will die together but personally, I would like them to die separately, simply because I think it would be even more tragic and I would love that) Rhaenyra will somehow get his ring back and keep it until the day she dies. So the day Rhaenyra is executed the last thing she will see will be Daemon's ring, in the same way that her father died seeing her mother's ring.
Tumblr media
I think that if my theory comes true, a beautiful parallelism between father and daughter could be appreciated in a very emotional way, in addition to demonstrating that for Rhaenyra, Daemon was always the great love of her life. Being the definitive proof that Rhaenyra was Daemon's only true love when he will decides to face Aemond in a suicide mission to protect Rhaenyra.
