[VD: A grayscale Magnus Archives animatic of Jon and Gerry talking in episode 111 of The Magnus Archives. Gerry, a ghostly goth, and Jon, a thin brown man in a graphic T-shirt, sit together at a table. Gerry says scornfully, "Playing politics with things they didn’t understand. Reckoned her tradition was less the academic and more the, uh…" Jon offers dryly, "V-Village witch?"
Gerry laughs, pleased, and asks, "You sure you don’t know her?" He sighs, sobers, and says, "Yeah. But deep down what she wanted wasn’t all that different from the ivory tower idiots she hated. Y’know, I think, secretly, she dreamed of starting a little mystic dynasty of her own." He grimaces. "With me."
Jon says a little eagerly, "Like the, the Lukases? Or the Fairchilds?" Gerry corrects, "Well, Fairchild’s just a name, they’re not really family." Then he does a finger gun and says, "The Lukases, though, yeah."
He turns away, pensive and frowning, and says, "Thing is, it’s harder than it looks. What’s out there… doesn’t care about blood." Jon, grinning a little, says, "Well, I-I mean, except for the vampires…" Gerry scowls, "Yeah, obviously except for the vampires." Jon looks abashed, and Gerry looks down sorrowfully to say, "But they care about your choices, your fears, not your parents." End VD]

Every eye avatar/ strongly eye aligned person has at some point in their service been wildly attractive.
I’m completely serious- a whole thing with the eye is wanting to talk to and/or tell them things, it’s a major part of their feeding the eye. The most effective way is to have a power that makes people unable to stop taking to you sure, but it also cost lots of energy and has to be applied every time. Being generally attractive, or even just giving off a specific air of ‘you /should/ be at least a little attractive to me’ is easy, it’s subtle and, most importantly, it means the statement giver might not run away screaming the second they realise somethings wrong.
The reason every regency gentleman in Victorian England wrote to Jonah Magnus like they wanted him carnally? Eye makeover. Gertrude originally had a ‘get the hell out of my way’ kind of attractiveness that made her incredibly scary, and then later that morphed into a much subtler ‘i am a harmless old woman, tell me your secrets’ kind of vibe. Gerard got it too, and proceeded to run wild with his fashion choice, since he’d probably look good regardless. The reason Jonah picks the hottest Twink every time he body-hops is a long standing habit of being the most attractive person in the room.
Everyone in the archives, regardless of their time, gets a little boost. Some, like Tim, don’t really need it but get it anyway. Melanie joining gave her the boost to ask Georgie out. Jon gained it slowly overtime until he reached Archivist status, which combined with his ‘i am trying very hard to be better’ and ‘do not interact with me’ vibes, gain quite a following from anyone who catches a glimpse of them. Martin also gets it, and regains it a bit after the Lonely, which really puts him in first for ‘most likely to get someone talking.’

[ID: Magnus Archives fanart of Jon Sims, a thin brown man with chin-length white-streaked hair. In the first piece, he frowns as he holds up a manila folder and says, "| know you guys hate me, but please stop hiding the statements.. I need them." The second piece shows him sitting on the floor of his office in front of his desk, biting his nails with a tired, distant expression. The lighting is dim and yellow. Captions show there's knocking followed by a muffled "Jon?"
