During the 1890s and the early twentieth century, infants, no matter their sex, were dressed in long white gowns that could be bleached cleaned. This fashion remained the same until WW1 as rationing meant that hemlines shortened. Bonnets remained common accessories though the hair bow gained popularity for baby girls in the 1910s.

By the 1920s, baby fashion in line with adult clothing, was sailor inspired and hemlines crept higher up. This trend continued to the 1930s as the great depression meant fabric was scarce and expensive. In fact, for poorer families, infant clothing was handmade with whatever was available, including flour sacks and old curtains.

The 1940s meant WW2 and any sort of elaborateness was very frowned upon. Fabrics were cheap cottons and almost always recycled and knit clothing rose in popularity.

Prosperity and affluence defined the 1950s and this was reflected in baby clothing. Baby boys were dressed similar to older men in little suits with shorts instead of long pants and little girls in full, babydoll dresses. This era also established the stereotypical blue for boys;pink for girls that remains till today.

There was a new lightness to Edmund’s step, a buoyancy that didn't go unnoticed for long. The children were the first to notice. Paul, however, was still processing the change. He tried to suppress his curiosity but couldn't resist. It was strange; he’d never seen Edmund so… happy.

“What's put you in such high spirits?” Paul asked, fully aware of the reason behind his friend’s uplifted mood. He wasn’t an idiot. What were friends if not two individuals who could freely discuss their sources of joy and the “lady friends” in their lives?

Edmund halted, turning to face his friend, a smile still faint on his lips. “Is it so strange for me to be anything but miserable?”

Paul wasted no time in responding, his words laced with honesty. "Yes."

Edmund reminisced playfully, “Remember when you'd visit and barely utter a word?”

Paul dismissed his pale attempt at evading the topic at hand as they continued their walk through the manor. “Elaine told me your friend was invited inside – Imogene, is it?”

“You’re making my children your informants?”

“That’s improvement, my friend! A visitor!” Paul deafeningly congratulated Edmund, whose light expression fell under the weight of Paul’s words.

Edmund quickened his pace, signaling his reluctance to dwell on the subject. But Paul remained steadfast, refusing to let the matter fade away. Edmund's unease grew when Paul broached the topic head-on, questioning his intentions with Imogene.

They reached a standstill, Edmund’s gaze wandering to a portrait adorning the wall. His eyes lingered on the painted features of his late wife, Rosalyn, and his throat tightened. It felt as though they were face to face and he wasn’t merely confronting remnants of their shared history.

“She’s my friend – just a friend,” he promised, though uncertain whether he was trying to convince Paul, himself, or the memory of Rosalyn.

Dearest Marmee,

I must thank you once again for recommending the tickets to the theatre. We have been home about a month now and my wife has not stopped gushing about it to anyone who will listen. I knew she had the soul of a poet but I could have never guessed how much that evening would mean to her.

We were the last to arrive, nearly missing the admissions, as we had stopped off to have our portrait taken there in London. But after all, how could we miss the opportunity to be photographed in our finest clothes, and so in my opinion anyway, we were only fashionably late!

I will admit only to you, some of the play went above my head, but my Winifred, oh how she laughed throughout the entirety of the performance. She understands things like this you see, and I suppose your Jo is likely the same; I think it is something engrained in all the great writers of the world to be able to understand why the curtains are yellow and not blue.

And boy, does my wife admire Mr. Wilde. She truly believes he will go down in history as one of the greats. She is very fond of all his work, and she suspects we should expect more excellence out of him before his career is finished.

Despite feeling a little out of my depth, I enjoyed myself all the same, especially after Winifred explained that the play mocks the wealthy in subtle ways. Mr. Tree, the gentlemen who played Lord Illingworth, is a galant man taking a slap from Mrs. Arbuthnot that way; how the sound of the sting echoed throughout the entire hall! I was downright shocked, and my wife in stitches, finding it absolutely hilarious.

At once the show finished, and as Mr. Tree and Mrs. Beere took their bows, everyone cheered for their outstanding talent, and I do believe my wife applauded harder than anyone else in that audience. The show was a treasure, and I trust it will be remembered for generations to come. However, what I will remember most, is my Winifred.

And while everyone marveled at the actors, I couldn’t keep from marveling at my wife instead. Her beauty, her cleverness, her whimsical laughter and dazzling smile, and most of all, her natural aptitude to understand the work...aside from the day we wed, I can't think of a time she has ever appeared more beautiful to me, or more herself.

It was though she belonged there, amongst others who appreciate literature, and my, I can't help thinking what it would be like to sit in that theatre and see her work performed on the stage instead.

I had hoped that our viewing of ‘A Woman of No Importance’ would give her the confidence she needs to be published. It would truly be a shame for the world not to know her work; I encourage gently, but she is stubborn, you see and hardly allows me to read it. She does not recognize her own talent.

Since we've been home though, I have found her early in the morning, asleep at her typewriter more times than I can count. So at the very least, I am pleased to see her passion burning inside once again. Now...if I could only find a way to ignite it.

TREASURED TRADITION #2: True Islander (Public 20 May)

This is my love letter to the Island Living pack and my country’s diverse culture. They are not modest, but I felt like, “I need to do something” about the costume choice for Sulani people. So, I’m using my country’s culture and history to create this collection. I wanted to make some of the Papuan culture, but I’m not ready to touch on it for now. Who knows? Maybe I would come back with this idea next time for the theme.

Anyways, I’m just thinking this out loud. Am I the only one who thinks that the people who live closer to the nature are the ones that would be the last to survive on earth?

This is the fireplace i showed in my little yule cc sneak peak! it’s actually two objects - the fireplace which functions as a stove, and the logs which function as a firepit! Your sim can use both without issue :) Sims heads will clip slightly while cooking, and the cauldren disappears briefly when opening the oven.

I would reccomment a fire tuning mod such as this one, otherwise the stove might catch on fire?

Maxis-Match Medievaloid Miscellany, Part 1: Young Adult and Adult Male Clothing

Item 1: The Al-Andalus Tunic Skirt. A retexture of EA's Large Belted Kilt mesh with editsims' Tara Skirt textures, this tunic is a simple and classic tunic-style bottom. One recolorable channel at 4x4; available for too many categories to list, but it is fully morphed.

Item 2: The Dalriada Tunic Skirt. Another retexture of the EA Large Belted Kilt mesh, this time using PoppySims' pleated skirt textures, this tunic has pleats (or gores) for extra flair. One recolorable channel at 4x4; available for too many categories to list, but it, also, is fully morphed. Works well with lower-slung belt accessories.

Item 3: The Danelaw Tunic and Trousers. This is editsims' Disparate Youth skirt layered over EA's Kung Fu pants; suitable for the more active (or cold) individual. Three recolorable channels at 4x4 tiling. While it's available for quite a few categories, it doesn't have a pregnancy morph.

Item 4: The Byzantium Top. This is EA's World Adventures Chinese Sophisticate top layered over Supernatural's Top With Infinity Scarf. It's a very fancy top, in my opinion. Four recolorable channels at 4x4 tiling; available for Everyday, Formalwear, Career, Makeover, and Maternity to make it more ~exclusive~ than the others.

Laura was seething.

She worked her way around the cow pen, brushing down Majros' fur and trying to dislodge the worst of the muck.

Lately seeing the cow had made her think of Charles Elias and by extension improved her mood, but now it only served to make it worse.

As if the cow wasn't bad enough on her own.

She dropped the cow brush into a bucket and sighed, turning away from her to stare out towards the woods.

She felt so stupid!

Of course the moment she let her guard down just a little Alfred and his lackeys would swoop in.

She wasn't ever sure why she was angry with Charles Elias over it either.

Of course he'd pick the healthy well-adjusted people instead of her.

She should have seen it coming miles away.

In fact she had! And she had kept him at arms length for more than a year because of it to make sure this exact thing didn't happen.

But obviously it still did. She hated herself for ever being so naïve.

She hated herself even more when she spotted the figure of Charles Elias making his way home, head bowed as if in thought.

Once he was close enough to home to spot her he waved slightly, and then jogged the last bit to reach her.

"Hello," he said, giving her one of those small, timid little smiles of his. The ones that he probably gave everyone, because he was friendly and approachable and good.

She hated his smiles, she decided.

"Hey…," she said, "How was… Everything?"

She grimaced slightly, bracing herself for a wider smile and some breathless enthusiastic story of how wonderful and sociable and approachable and fun Alfred and his friends were.

Instead Charles Elias's smile became a little strained.

"Oh," he said, "It was… nice. I think."

He didn't sound sure.

Laura picked at her nailbeds, ripping at a small hangnail with a frown. It was the opposite of what she'd expected. Wasn't that supposed to make her feel better in a way?

She was angry at him, and she hadn't actually wanted him to like Alfred. And yet it also made her feel bad.

She tried to think of how to respond.

What did people say in situations like these anyway?

She panicked a little, and picked the first response that came to mind.

"Well, it's to be expected of Alfred and his friends," she said and what she meant was that Charles Elias shouldn't feel bad that it hadn't been nice, but from the way his smile went out she knew it hadn't come out correctly.

"Oh…" He said. "Right."

She began ripping at the skin surrounding the hangnail.

"Dinner should be ready in an hour," she said, "It's uh… Fish… stew."

"Right," he said, "I suppose I'll see you then."

He began to turn away and she felt like she'd somehow kicked a puppy.

Even though she shouldn't care. Didn't care. Definitely not.

And yet she couldn't keep herself from calling out to him.

"The uh-- The cow's been a lot more cooperative since you helped," she said.

Charles Elias looked from her to the cow and then back to her, and then his face erupted into a small smile.

The kind of smile she told herself she hated.

"I'm glad to hear that!"

He walked away with a small wave, looking happier already, and the moment he was out of sight Laura buried her face in her hands.

Retro-pixels "The Governess" dress for males (requested)

Someone wanted Victorian Dresses for men and I convertet it. A few months later

Victorian Dress original from Retro-pixels for the Sims 4 convertet for the Sims 3.

It is for Everday/Formal/Career and Outdoorwear categorys. It has pregnancy morph for adults.

It has four channels for recolouring. And three Custom presets that are... Intresting. Idk. how to recolour these but they are all CASTable so anyway...

The original Sims 4 creator of the dress seems like they deletet their Tumblr, but there is this repost to download here .

I took the conversion from @joojconverts and made it fit for males. Also shout outs to him making the textures and UV and all that Sims 3 compatible. His Female Conversion can be found here.
