DR. RIVER
I figured I would revisit the design of our favourite resident teacher's pet (doctor's pet?). It's my internsona, Dr. River! Though he's definitely more of an OC, at this rate. He just has a lot of my Quirks.
This was mostly made after he seemed to get quite a bit of affection in the RDL fanon channels; so, if you're curious on who exactly this pattern-loving nerd is, look below!
Dr. O. River (he refuses to clarify what the 'O' stands for) is a member of the Rhythm Doctor Initiative within Middlesea Hospital. In some routes, he is the intern - who, after the events of 1-XN, lost faith within the remote feature of the project; and began to attend to patients in person. In others, and most commonly, he is an intern supervisor - a role given to him by Dr. Edega when one particular intern came under his wing.
Speaking of Edega, River is mostly known for his core feature: he's Edega's favourite.
To put in better words: River thrives off of overwork. The more you give him, the more energy he'll have - and, in turn, the more work he'll get done. In addition, he's professional to a fault, seeming almost robotic in the way he presents himself. Observant, efficient, and, most of all, apathetic.
Or, at least, that's how he presents himself to the lead doctor.
Truth be told, River is far friendlier as he looks. An absolute dork with a literature degree; he'll take any chance to ramble about language, formatting, prose and the like. One of his biggest features as a supervisor is that he knows stress when he sees it, and will take an intern's pager (claims its for "intern surveillance") entirely to mark half of their tasks as complete ("I've already treated this lot. Just stick to these four, and I'll handle the rest"). He also hates Edega's guts - more than you think. No, more than that.
He'll drop lore at the drop of a hat ("Want a fun fact? 'M Scottish. Don't sound like it, but I've got a whole lot o' siblings in the central highlands."), crack jokes on a whim and laugh at himself ("How do you get two whales in a red mini?"), and fake Edega's footsteps entirely to scare his first and favourite intern: Dr. Desert [owned by the lovely @fufupng].
In short: Dr. River is a monotonous nerd with a heart of gold. He can predict when patients need treating, and has an obsession with pattern recognition - but, if you need some help with that overwhelming list of tasks Edega has you doing, he'll gladly do 80% of the work for you. As long as you let him talk about words.
[Have any questions about him? Let me know! - Emo]

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why? 🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favourite outdoor activity?

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - what is their favourite season? why?
Autumn is definitely River's favorite season. Due to the lye scarring, it can take a significant amount of time to 'get ready' to go outside in terms of make-up application to hide it, especially depending on what kind of clothes she wants to wear. Autumn is the perfect amount of cold so that she can sport all sorts of cute things like jackets, turtle-necks, sweaters, etc, which hide her right shoulder; and thereby cuts-down on the make-up application ritual. Seeing as she tends to wear these long-sleeved items even in the summer to do this, fall is also not so hot that she's uncomfortable.
River's also a total basic pumpkin-spice latte girl, who wouldn't miss the chance to worship at the coffeeshop altar for this favored seasonal drink.
🍃 FALLING LEAF - Do they enjoy being in nature? What is their favourite outdoor activity?
River absolutely is an outdoors-y person. Her family home was a complex, hidden deep in the woods near the coast of Oregon, so she's been in and around nature most of her entire life. Much of the scant 'free time' she had in her childhood was spent practicing herbalism and combing the land for various toxic plants and materials for her grandmother; and by default she got to enjoy a fair amount of hiking in the process. Coming to Gotham didn't change too much of that. Free-running has replaced hiking, and she continues to grow and work-with poisonous plants and herbs primarily as an assassin.
If she wasn't 'perma-banned' from the state by fact that her family is still kicking-it up back there, as well as the fact that Dagny wants to stay in Gotham, she'd have gone back home to Oregon a long time ago. River would be perfectly content having some kind of small off-grid homestead for herself; and using her assassin skills to track and hunt animals instead, to eat.

i love blue river raceways for many reasons and the first of which is that i loooooveeeee minigames and also my formula 1 / space opera au / mario kart / speedy pines ass cannot resist an ice boat racetrack. like false's elytra course already gave me so much serotonin when everyone was running it so a hermit grand prix would just kinda make me explode. like this is my budget spopera [no martyn version] and hehehe boats go vroom
the second reason is that false and ren keep on putting each other on their thumbnails like damn ok i get it! y'all live there now!! i open an episode and BOOM we're at the race again and yeah me too. mentally i'm at blue river raceways. it's ren and etho's ice race but is the etho on the thumbnail in the room with us right now? 🤨 /lh also it's sooooo funny that the day everyone posted about filling the perimeter, false and ren both went :] hey we raced together it was really fun :]
i love all the details, the funky lil redstone tune at the start, the obstacles, cherry blossoms trees, like all of false's builds, the ambition of the track, the drifty bits, all the love hermits put into it, and it just seems so fun 🥺 absolutely cannot wait to see what event they'll do for it.

Because of who I am as a person, it has taken me over a year to finally comprehend my college's registration process, of which I would have to call my guidance counselor to help me get through, thus often forcing me to skim through the left overs of online classes because my transportation situation is shoddy as all hell.
although all the blame can't be put on me, when there are two separate and completely differently designed portals that allow me to register, one has more through information, and it is the one that most people don't use but the one i need.
this is a long winded way of saying I've been beat to registering for fall classes.
now this is the part where i cry a bit, then get back to trying to be productive.
Problem with that is, the most obvious option is to work. and while I appreciate my aunt, I really do, tbh I very often felt like an afterthought, and we haven't talked since june)
so normal jobs
would be more palatable if every job finding/interview experience i had didn't suck.
examples under the cut
Target:
called me at like 11:30 at night on a wednesday asking if they could do a phone interview, I say no, because it is almost midnight. im in my jammies, all my paperwork and such is put away, im considering some me time... i am not in a professional head space. I tell them while I am not available now, im good tomorrow. they say sure we'll call you around noon. Great.
tomorrow happens, i give them until one... nothing. call them myself... nothing. wait around on the same timeline friday... nothing. call them again... nothing.
Hamilton/DEH merch
the woman took me saying "my mother used to have a hoarding problem, I'm cleaning." as me saying she had recently passed... which is a fair assumption, but she hadn't. The embarrassment the interviewer obviously felt when I made that clarification I feel, in part, is how I got that job.
Barnes & Noble
said it was part time book seller. get there and they tack on "also, maybe, more often then not, the starbucks cafe." now, this feels a bit illegal, and might be, but I was there, I wore my khakis and button up, i'd try at least.
get there, it's a group interview, im nervous, thus im sweating, and it's in the break room with other employees coming and going. one even obviously and flagrantly hyping one of the other applicants.
she got that job, and i had a nervous cry in the bathroom
Press N' Grind (overpriced Cafe, disappointing I know)
had the job for three days, boss fired me, without saying anything indicative of him actually firing me like "this isn't working out" or "we have to let you go" so i spend about ten days waiting for a schedule update, and when i finally go in to ask wtf is up, he clarifies, gives me like $275 and i have a good walk/cry in the rain.
Turns out he was also having some legal issues with an old business partner regarding royalties and IP, maybe that had smth to do with it. (my mom's a nosy bitch and so am I)
Michael's
Guy says he'll email me some things, and I'm thinking cool, I've got the job! get home, no email. next morning, no email. next evening, no email. I call everyday for a week, even go in three times, the guy who interviewed me is never there.
like a month later, i've cut my losses, my mother has stopped pestering me because all of my attempts have failed. she needs poster board for an office presentation and i'm a crafty bitch, so we go to michael's.
now, sm ppl have said that what I did was a bad move. i disagree but whatever.
out of the corner of my eye, guess who I see?
so from the far end of the isle, in my jammies, (freshly bleach stained due to a laundry accident) and a set of slides, I summon from the depth's of my chest:
"What's up,
Phillip?"
he stops, he stares, he blances a bit.
"Been trying to reach you, never got that email you were supposed to send me."
he stumbles over some half said mostly implied excuse that summed up to "Im not the usual hiring manager, and when they came back they veto'd my decision."
"woulda been nice to know that a month ago."
"yeah..."
"yeah."
he gets called to the register and I swear he moved faster then he did before.
I have not gotten to the interview portion of a job application since.
