Regarding the tags you made on your reblog of that Dom/sub ≠ Top/bottom post, I’m genuinely curious which of your characters you’d put forward as examples of Doms even when they’re on the receiving end of penetration or other bottom associated situations. I’m asking this as a genuinely curious fan of your fics, but in only like 2 fandoms, so I feel I don’t have a good sample size! I also feel your pairings tend to be so switchy/equitable across the board that I’m eager to hear your perspective!

Oh, hey, anon! That’s a fantastic question, and I don’t feel like you’re posing it in bad faith or to troll me. There are two of my characters that came immediately to mind when you sent this, but I’ve spent a few more minutes thinking about this to see if there are any others among the overall switchy population of my pairings (that’s a dynamic that you’re 100% correct about, as far as how I portray the pairings I’ve been drawn to and written over time).

Aziraphale (of Aziraphale/Crowley, Good Omens novel) is always the first one that comes to mind for me. No matter what’s going on between him and Crowley in my stories, Aziraphale tends to be the one who initiates and/or directs the action in their intimacy most of the time.

Hermann (of Hermann/Newt, Pacific Rim) was the second one who came to mind alongside Aziraphale. In my opinion, Newt tends toward being overwhelmed and/or overstimulated in a lot of the same ways Crowley does, so Hermann usually takes the lead.

Five (of Five[514A]/Jerome, Gotham) may actually be the best example I’ve got. Jerome’s background comes with sexual hangups, and he’s also ace spectrum as far as I’m concerned; his gestures in the direction of flirting or referencing sexuality in fanon are always demonstrably part of his bravado or an intimidation act. Five is just so fucking fearless about everything he does; literally not being able to feel physical pain will have that effect on a person, as well as having absolutely nothing to lose. Jerome is really relieved most of the time not to be in charge of those reins.

Walking through the streets of New York on Christmas day is not a totally quiet experience. Though Newt and Hermann don’t particularly mind that. But they don’t have their sights set on any parties tonight. Rather they hope to find a nice quiet movie theater to spend sometime in.

I think what makes Goncharov so compelling is that it combines some of what I like to call Tumblr's Greatest Hits.

1. Fandoms overanalyzing properties in ways the creators never intended or could even comprehend. (See: miles long meta posts, Cas is Lamp, homoerotic angst read into action/comedy content like Pacific Rim or the MCU)

2. inventing something extra-canonical and acting like it is an actual part of canon. (See: Glup Shitto, TAZ Grad's Bingus debacle, BBC Sherlock's Sebastian Moran as played by Michael Fassbender)

3. the ages old tumblr experience of only learning about a property via gifsets and fandom textposts that end up on your dashboard (See: people thinking Destiel was another angel, thinking Destiel was canon ages ago, knowing inside jokes for fandoms despite never watching whatever the fandom is based around)

And lastly,

4. Making fun of non-tumblr users by way of making fun of tumblr users (See: simply saying things like Horse Plinko Eeby Deeby Blorbo lil meow meow Super Hell)

All of these have combined into a mass hallucination of a film that has not ever existed and yet has a cast, plot, director, release date, narrative themes, subtext, ships, fan theories, etc. This shit is incredible

At Newt's insistence he and Hermann rent a beach house on the Gulf Coast in an attempt to wordlessly confront what happened to him. While first staring out at the murky ocean on a dull gray day he and Hermann share a conversation quiet conversation, barely dancing around the issue at hand.
