You know how we, the player, have the choice prompts during the Ferris wheel section that Susie ignores? Is it because she can't hear us, or because she has enough Determination™ or whatever to disobey our commands?
So here's my unironic prediction for one of the future chapters—

What are your predictions for Deltarune Chapters 3-4 ?
Hmmm, let's see...
I think Susie and Ralsei are going to work out very quickly that Kris was the one to create this fountain. Susie's going to brush it off like "Okay yeah I get why you would, it's okay we'll just have fun and seal the fountain when we're done anyway!" and Ralsei will try and act like it's not a problem, when he clearly is bothered by it, and this will start to build up some tension between Ralsei and Kris.
I am open to Toriel being another side party member, less convinced yet that we'll be seeing another adult like Undyne or Napstablook there as well. I do not think we'll be getting a Snowgrave repeat where Toriel is manipulated into killing Undyne or anything like that. If there's a weird route continuation here, it'll be handled very differently.
I don't think we'll be seeing more of the Dreemurr household in the dark world; it'll just be focused on what's on the TV. We've already got a few possibilities for areas: a cooking show, the weather report, and the monster movie, plus we do keep getting hints that the western show may show up in some capacity.
To that end...hopefully a Susiezilla sequence for the monster movie part!
Unsure of what Mike's role will be in here, but I'm anticipating Tenna as the main big bad for this Dark World.
I don't think anyone has guessed the secret boss for chapter three yet, and I don't think anyone will. Thusfar for secret bosses, there's been no hints of them from other places, and you have to go out of your way to find them. Their function as Darkners made from discarded/forgotten objects makes sense in hindsight, but isn't obvious from the get-go. All we know is that we'll need the shadow mantle for a future secret boss, and that that's missing now.
At the end of chapter three, Asriel is going to call on the landline phone and talk to Toriel briefly, but WE won't get to actually communicate with him and it's going to drive me bonkers.
We know less about chapter four, except for some very basic things...Susie and Kris have a few scenes talking out in the light world, and it's raining some of that time. It could either go the direction of an all-light world chapter, or another dark world they explore the next day.
Assuming it's the latter and there's another dark world (which makes more sense to me), I feel the best location options are the hospital, the church, and Asgore's flower shop. If there's a thread started in chapter three getting into more of the Dreemurr family history and Kris's place in it (which does seem to be the case), Asgore's shop seems the best bet to continue that thread next, so I'm going to predict Asgore's shop for chapter four.
Since that's a flower shop and all, a more Alice In Wonderland sort of theming seems likely, with more of a jungle/wild area that the Fun Gang has to explore compared to the city and sound stage areas of previous chapters.
I am expecting Catti (and potentially also Jockington) to be future Dark World partners, and either chapter four or chapter five seems a good option for that.
I think Catti is necessary as a partner 1) because of her occult history with Kris, 2) her focus on protecting Noelle, who I could see showing up in the Dark World again as early as chapter four or five, and 3) her clearly having beef with Susie.
If we're dealing with Kris's family history through chapters 3 and 4, I can see that then going into more of Susie's backstory and whatever is going on with her family. I get the feeling that Catti knows some secret about Susie that makes her dislike her more than just "she stole Jockington's hat once", and that will need to be resolved in conjunction with learning more on Susie's situation.
Every day in-game that big-headed blue bird monster is going to reveal another shelf in the second floor of the library, which will slowly give more worldbuilding lore, and it's going to be maddening just getting those little crumbs of info one at a time.
We'll be getting more Knight hints, but not a real reveal until chapter five.

Hi! I really enjoyed the first kiss scenarios! Can you make one with Pinhead as well? <3
You absolutely can. I'm going to add a few others. I've only seen the first Hellraiser, so I hope I've gotten it right.
First kisses.
Pinhead, Plague, Legion (Joey)
Pinhead
Your relationship with his is an odd one.
He doesn't show many emotions.
And the emotions he does show are more sadistic and aimed at survivors.
To you? He's a very quiet, reserved, but intelligent man.
His way of showing affection is usually a little pat on the head or his arm over your shoulder.
To show you the other way he shows affection...
Elliott care about you too much to harm you in any way.
Despite his cold demeanor, he really does love you.
If you feel neglected, he'll be able to tell.
He's a very smart person.
"S/o. Come here."
In his usual monotone voice.
Once you obey, he'll lean down and place a gentle kiss on your cheek.
Despite all the pins, he somehow never pokes you.
He'll even give you a smile.
"Forgive me, I never meant to cause you anguish by neglecting you."
He'll then kiss you on the lips.
And he's a really good kisser.
But he enjoys teasing you a bit.
It leaves you wanting more.
"Come along. I'd like you to accompany me with some work."
He's saying he wants to spend more time with you.
And give you more kisses.
Plauge
Do not.
Seriously.
She loves you.
But she doesn't want you to kiss her.
You will get so sick.
You hear how she sounds everyday.
Trust her, you don't want to feel like that.
Adris would love to give you a kiss.
She really really would!
But just the idea of making you ill haunts her.
Also, she might just get sick on you.
Usually, she gets sick without warning.
There is no predicting it either.
Maybe you could kiss her cheek or something?
Regardless, you have to be the one to make the first move.
Make sure she's feeling well that day.
She has her good days, and her not so good days.
And it's very easy to tell when it's a bad day.
Don't make it a surprise kiss either.
She isn't a fan of things that will startle her.
She might get sick on that.
Instead, start by taking her hand and placing a gentle kiss on it.
Then wait for her response.
If it's positive, work your way up until you place one on her cheek.
She won't let you kiss her in the mouth for your safety.
But she will build up enough courage to give you a kiss on the cheek.
Legion (Joey)
He wants to be the one to give you the first kiss.
But he doesn't want to force you.
He has to find the perfect time and place.
And, with the help of Susie and Julie, he'll get just that.
Joey isn't really the romantic type.
His idea of a perfect date is a cheesy horror movie, junk food, and weed.
Not happening under the girls' watch.
So they'll give you a decent spot to have your first kiss.
Make it semi-romantic.
At least as much as you can get it in the realm.
While the girls are setting things up, Frank is walking Joey through all the steps to make the first kiss memorable and perfect.
"Dude, Frank. Chill, I got this."
Joey does not got this and he is not chill.
He's actually freaking out!
He'll try to take a hit before the date, but the others won't let him.
Not even a small one.
You arrive at a room decorated with flowers.
"U-Uh... Hey babe."
Sweating bullets.
He's so terrified he can't even move.
The others are whispering to get him moving.
"Fuck it."
He'll throw off his mask and give you the most tender loving passionate kiss you could ever hope for.
The others are pissed he didn't follow the plan.
But he doesn't care.
And neither should you.
That had to have been the best kiss ever.

Deltarune Angel Theory! Who it is, what changes in the weird route, why we do it, + more!
Hi! Noelle Holiday here!
It's my first time posting anything like this so I'm not totally sure how it works, but here's my best shot. Spoilers for everything currently released in Undertale and Deltarune, and hopefully, spoilers for parts of Deltarune that haven't been released yet too!
A quick multi-paragraph intro with like 15 disclaimers:
Okay so I've been binging theorycrafting videos and Deltarune and Undertale playthroughs over and over for the past month and I think I've just cracked the code and seen into the matrix.
So, this started when I noticed that Spamton calls me Angel, which is weirdly specific, right? But then I noticed one of the Addisons also calls me Angel, and both of them only do it in the weird route. So that got me wondering why, of course! And I think I've connected enough dots that I might be able to predict not only who the angel is, but how the weird route changes things, exactly why we do it, what will happen in chapter 3's weird route, and even some mostly-unrelated stuff involving characters like Seam.
I'm more confident in this than almost any other major Deltarune theory I've heard, despite how little we know about the angel. I wouldn't be sharing it, and wouldn't have put this much time into a full writeup, if I didn't believe in it. And, given how limited our information is, don't expect rock solid, undeniable evidence for each point I cover. I'm working with what I've got. This is a theory about stuff we're probably years away from seeing to fruition, so I have to make a lot of predictions.
A lot of this uses @jarujaruj's theorycrafting method, which involves considering the story from a writer's perspective rather than relying on pure hard logic, but we're also going to be going over most of the info surrounding the angel in both Deltarune and Undertale, both stated and implied. So, if you're familiar with Jaru's theories and find them hard to believe, you might not get much out of this one either. I won't go over those theories in much detail in this post, as it's already long enough, and while I'll reference Jaru's theories a few times, even if they're wrong I don't think it would invalidate much of this theory. You also don't need to know them to understand most of what I'll be discussing, however, a few details make more sense with them in mind.
I'm looking for thematic parallels and interesting story implications just as much as the hard facts, but since we have so few hard facts to work with, you'll see more of the former I think. This will take a while, so stick with me if you care about the evidence.
Here's my theory:
The angel changes depending on which route you play, and when you play the weird route, Noelle is the angel.
Not only that, but you end up turning me into the angel yourself, at least in the weird route, but maybe in other routes too. And, borrowing from Jaru, every route (except maybe one) ends in the angel deciding to reset back to the start of the game. Look into his stuff for why I think that part is the case, but it's not quite as relevant to my theory as much of the info I'll be showcasing here. I'll still be discussing it though, as I think it explains a lot of what happens in the weird route. Much like Undertale's merciless route, it makes more sense after a reset.
I'll be going over all the evidence I can think of in this post, and giving my thoughts on who the angel is likely to be in each route, and why I think it varies.
Direct "angel" mentions in Deltarune:
Spamton and Addison call me angel in the weird route
I say I would hypothetically grow angel wings and fly out of the ferris wheel when I'm riding it with Susie
Alphys calls her cat that she may or may not have a "perfect angel"
The ANGEL'S HEAVEN
Discussion of the angel doll in Rudy's hospital room. The doll was made by Dess and I.
Alvin talks about the angel a few times
There's a clear pattern here of angels being associated with me. Not exclusively, but far more than any other character, other than maybe Alvin, but he's a priest of the angel so I'm not sure that counts for as much. Let's go over each one to see what they can tell us.
"Angel" is used here just like a nickname, there's not much clear context beyond that for its use. Spamton says it when you've cleared out all the weird route encounters and talk to him at his dumpster.
Here's that full conversation:
* [Angel], [Angel]
* ARE YOU LOOKING FOR THE [Ring] of [Thorns]?
* THEN [[Why]] GO TO A DUMPSTER!!!
* THat'll be 1997 KROMER.
* HERE'S YOUR [Ring]! CAREFUL, IT MIGHT [Sting] * EAHEAHEAH
* (You got the ThornRing.)
Addison, specifically the pink Addison, though I'm not sure it matters all that much which one it is, calls me "angel" in a similar way, as a nickname with no clear meaning behind it.
Tumblr media
Here's that conversation:
Addison: * If you're something else, maybe a Dating Shoes isn't right...?
Addison: * Maybe I could interest you in a FreezeRing?
Noelle: * Huh...? A ring...?
Noelle: * Faha, sorry, I don't think WE need something like that!
Addison: * C'mon, angel! You can't get stronger without good equipment!
Noelle: * Stronger...? R-right, I guess that's how it works here...
Following this, of course, Kris (or the voice associated with them) has me get the ring despite not being able to afford it, presumably by attacking the Addison with iceshock.
So, clearly there's a pattern to this, right? I could see *one* person calling me angel being a coincidence, but the fact that it's two different people, and both only on the weird route, feels too intentional to ignore, but there's not much meaning you can derive from the way it's used here other than establishing a strong connection between me and the angel, and specifically on the weird route. Additionally, the fact that it's associated with acquiring rings both times could mean something, maybe involving the romantic implication of the rings? It's something to keep in mind!
This isn't enough to say I *am* the angel though, even if that might be a possible implication. We can only be confident that there's a connection, so let's keep going.
2. This one is interesting, being an association I have with angels that isn't on the weird route, one that may not mean much on its own but combined with the other two we just went over is clearly important. I've included a bit more context than is probably needed, because I think it's relevant later.
Tumblr media
Here's the conversation:
Susie: * So, uh... Ferris wheels, huh.
Susie: * Kinda makes you wonder what car they were built for.
Noelle: * (It's... it's different than riding one with Kris...)
Susie: * ... the hell's wrong, you scared of heights?
Noelle: * No! No, I... I love heights! Haha!
Susie: * You're, uh, shaking.
Noelle: * Well, um, maybe, I'm a little scared, but... I...
Noelle: * To be honest, I... I actually like... scary things.
Susie: * ... what do you mean?
Noelle: * When we were little, me and my sister would stay up...
Noelle: * And go past our bedtime watching horror movies.
Noelle: * At first I cried, but now... it's like... watching them...
Noelle: * Makes me feel... comforted...?
Susie: * Comforted? I guess I do like slime and blood...
Noelle: * It's scary, but I can just turn it off, right?
Noelle: * Now it's mostly... people, that are scary. Haha.
Susie: * You can just say you mean me.
Noelle: * Haha... umm... well... I guess y-you too, but...
Noelle: * But that's... what's... NICE about you, y'know?
Susie: * Nice!? The hell does that mean???
Noelle: * You're the... good kind of scary.
Noelle: * You aren't afraid to... break the rules, y'know?
Noelle: * ... I wish I could do crazy stuff like you.
Susie: * So, um...
Susie: * If YOU could do something crazy right now,
Susie: * What would you do?
Noelle: * U-umm... Well, I... I...
Noelle: * I'd... I'd jump out the window!
Noelle: * It's a dream, right?
Noelle: * I'd grow big angel wings,
Noelle: * And fly as far as I can, gazing back at it all...
Noelle: * The skyline shining like Holiday lights.
Susie: * ... that's kinda... beautiful?
Susie: * Wait, you wouldn't seriously jump out, would you!?
Noelle: * Hahaha!! No promises!
I actually noticed this one pretty late into crafting this theory, it almost felt like a smoking gun at the time, but obviously given what we've discussed so far this isn't enough on its own. It *is* a third instance of my being associated with the angel, undeniably a pattern at this point.
Growing big angel wings could be like not just being the angel, but becoming the angel. Flying above everything and looking down at all of it sounds like what the angel's role may be, to watch over and protect people, as Alvin will hint later. This solidifies the angel association even more and implies that I might become it at some point, but that implication is still a bit weak for now, so let's move on.
3. Alphys's saucer of milk. I was inclined to think this one doesn't mean much, but for the sake of being thorough, let's give it a good once over.
* Oh, this saucer of milk?
* I-It's for my kitty, MewMew! She's a perfect angel!
* ... uh? What does she look like...?
* W... well, I've never actually s-seen her, b-but...
* Ever since I started putting out milk, it's been disappearing.
* S... So I'd like to think that there's a cat.
* M... My cat.
There's enough mystery here that it could potentially mean something significant, but then we get the reveal to that mystery in the next chapter.
Tumblr media
* Hey Kris, this free milk? It's amazing.
* It just magically refreshes itself over night.
So presumably, it's just Susie, and may just be a joke. However, this does give Susie a minor association with being an angel as well! Given how serious of a topic the angel is, I'm inclined to think this, while definitely a joke, isn't *just* a joke. We'll come back to it later, because it might be important.
4. The ANGEL'S HEAVEN is a pretty unclear concept. Whatever it is, Ralsei seems to think the heroes will banish it, or at least try to. It seems to be associated with the Roaring, but that's also an unclear concept. I'm inclined to believe Jaru's theory on this, that the Angel's Heaven is the reset at the end of the game, and the Roaring is the release of magic back into the light world, but it could mean something else. However, I don't think we have enough information about it to draw any significant conclusions about who the angel might be from whatever the Angel's Heaven is, unless it's a reset, the potential of which I'll be giving my thoughts on later. It's something to keep in mind either way, because whatever the Angel's Heaven is, it's obviously very important. Moving on!
5. Here's where we start getting into some bigger evidence for the specifics of my theory: the angel doll in Rudy's hospital room.
Tumblr media
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
* That angel? * Noelle n' Dess made it in youth group.
* It's kind of like a good luck charm to me now.
* Oh, right, you and Azzy tried to make one too...
* But you wasted the whole time making huge wings for it!
And, with Susie:
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
Susie: * ... so why do you collect creepy dolls?
Rudy: * Hey, Noelle and her sister made that. Respect it!
Susie: * (Noelle's sister...)
So, weirdly, chapter 2's dialogue doesn't really reveal much, at least not much that you can't infer from other information. It tells us that Susie probably cares somewhat about whatever happened to Dess, but that's it.
Chapter 1's dialogue though, WOW there's a lot here, way more than you'd expect from such a short conversation. Let's break it down line by line, since I think we need to. I'll be drawing heavily on the thematics of this since we have so little hard evidence on the topic, and if this means anything at all, which it probably does, it's likely some non-literal foreshadowing.
* (It's an angel doll.) * (Its lack of facial features is unsettling.)
The fact that it's a doll could be referencing the puppet motif, the idea that somehow even the angel is beholden to fate, even its choices don't matter.
The lack of a face could mean that the angel's identity is unclear, could change, or is unimportant. I think all 3 are true. It's unclear because we don't know who it is, it could change because I think the route you take changes who the angel is, and it's unimportant because I think that, no matter who the angel is, they'll probably end the game by resetting back to chapter 1.
* That angel? * Noelle n' Dess made it in youth group.
The doll having been explicitly created by specific people could mean that the angel is created too, like an arts and crafts project. You might build up the angel over the course of the story. Plus, it's another association I have with the angel. This also associates Dess with the angel, but since she's already my sister, that might not mean anything new.
You could maybe argue the same for Susie's association, that she's my love interest, but the connection there is less solid, and Susie is an established main character, so I think there's merit to considering her association to the angel more separately. Don't count this as a full dismissal of Dess's connection though. I'd like to look into it, but we know so little about Dess that it's hard to really say much for it.
* It's kind of like a good luck charm to me now.
This line probably means the least. It could be a reference to the angel's role potential role as a protector, though. There's a decent chance Rudy will die by the end of the game. If he does die, and I become the angel, my resetting at the end of the game to bring him back, and undoing all of the damage done by the weird route, could be considered protecting him, like a good luck charm. However, that's a lot of ifs, too much speculation to be sure just yet.
* Oh, right, you and Azzy tried to make one too...
Kris and Asriel trying to make an angel is another point in favour of the angel being "made". Kris is our way of interacting with the world after all, so it makes sense that if the angel varies depending on the route, it would be Kris that makes them.
As a bonus, if Jaru's theory on the nature of Asriel (and Ralsei) is correct, and I strongly believe it is, this makes even more sense, for reasons I'm sure are clear if you're familiar with it.
* But you wasted the whole time making huge wings for it!
Wings, thematically, are heavily associated with freedom, not just in Deltarune but throughout media in general. Freedom is something we know Kris desperately wants from many sources, most clearly their interactions with the soul and with Spamton. Given the terrible fate this world seems to have in store, it's something everyone might want. This could mean that, if you focus solely on your freedom, you'll run out of time to make the angel, you won't make one that's complete enough to give you what you want, or, more vaguely, you won't achieve what you're after.
6. Father Alvin's dialogue is kind of a lot to go through, just because he's a priest of the angel, and as such, anything he says could potentially relate. However, most of it doesn't seem as relevant as you might expect, and, to be honest, I remembered him having more to say. Either way , there's still some interesting stuff here.
Tumblr media
In chapter 1, if you select "Nothing" after he asks you if anything is weighing on your mind, Alvin says this:
* I understand. * I hope in time you may find the words you seek.
* Let the Angel's power light your way.
This associates the angel with "power". It's a very vague word, but it's used consistently at save points, implying the angel has a connection to saving and loading (and thus, potentially, resets). Of course, it's also used in the weird route. The whole purpose of the weird route, seemingly, is to gain power, and specifically for Noelle (me) to gain power. As I'm already the most strongly associated with the angel, this farther strengthens the connection. Kris is also connected to power, of course, but as I believe your actions determine who the angel is, and Kris is who the player acts through to affect the world, that connection is already accounted for in my theory.
While it could probably be assumed, this also tells us that the angel is likely a very powerful entity. If anyone's choices matter, it's theirs, but I'm not convinced even they can break the theme of the game. We'll explore the most powerful entities known in Undertale and Deltarune later, to see if we can draw any parallels.
Next, chapter 2.
Selecting "Gerson" as a conversation topic yields this:
* It's been a few years since my father passed on...
* Fans of his famous book series, Lord of the Hammer...
* We still received condolences from them until just recently.
* A brave man, brilliant, and sharp.
* Kris, it is a shame you were not able to have him as a teacher.
* And, difficult for Ms. Alphys, as his replacement.
* Let us pray that the Angel will smile upon her.
Selecting "Hammer" gives this response:
* As per the ritual, a hammer is buried in the earth here.
* To symbolize his existence.
* To connect his spirit to the divine.
* Originally a smith by trade, he began writing history...
* And made a turn into telling stories,
* As a means to entertain his children.
* That such a story, created for such a simple purpose,
* Could blossom into such a large, wonderful, world-changing thing...
* That is the majesty of words, Kris.
* My father was blessed to have such a talent for writing.
There's probably not too much to get out of this. The angel is associated, seemingly, with watching over people, and protecting or guiding them, and may be associated with Alphys. Specifically though, the angel is implied as distinct from Alphys, so this connection does nothing to support Alphys potentially *being* the angel, just having some connection. As a student in her class, this of course supports my own connection, but it also could support anyone else in the class.
This also seems to support the ritual of placing monster dust on an important item so that the monster's essence may live on, being connected in some way to the angel, or "the divine". This implies a connection with everyone in the graveyard, and anyone still living who may be associated with this ritual.
Again, those who know of Jaru's Asriel/Ralsei theory will understand why I think this may be supportive of Ralsei being connected to the angel, and by extension, maybe Asriel or even Kris. Outside of that speculation though, I see nothing else from this. The undead have yet to clearly establish themselves as much of a presence in Deltarune, as opposed to Undertale.
Alvin's other dialogue discusses sin, but I can't find anything particularly noteworthy in it, other than sin being associated with a couple lines in Sans's boss fight in Undertale, and by extension the merciless route as a whole. I might come back to this later, but right now, it doesn't tell us much.
Direct "angel" mentions in Undertale:
You might be wondering why I'm bothering with Undertale's angel mentions when we're talking about Deltarune. While they're different games, they're parallel stories, so unless a contradiction is shown or implied between the rules and themes of Undertale and Deltarune, I think it's safe to consider Undertale's lore as part of this discussion, and I feel it would be incomplete if I didn't look into it. Plus, Undertale literally has the Delta Rune in it, and a lot of this information is directly related to Gerson's lore on that.
Here are all of the "angel" mentions:
Gerson talks about the angel when discussing the meaning of the Delta Rune
An old inscription on a wall mentions the angel
The Riverman (or is it the Riverwoman?) mentions the angel
First up, Gerson!
Tumblr media
While we go over this, we'll have to figure out what we can carry over from Undertale's Delta Rune into Deltarune's Delta Rune, since some of the details apply too specifically to Undertale to transfer easily. However, we can't 100% dismiss ANYTHING said here as unrelated without some serious consideration, as we're discussing the Delta Rune itself. So you can consider this sort of a Deltarune Undertale Delta Rune interlude.
That emblem:
* Eh? * You don't know what that is?
* What are they teaching you kids in school nowadays...? * Wa ha ha!
* That's the Delta Rune, the emblem of our kingdom. * The Kingdom...
* ... of Monsters.
* Wahaha! * Great name, huh? * It's as I always say...
* Ol' King Fluffybuns can't name for beans!
There are several reasons why I don't think Deltarune has a "Kingdom of Monsters". Here are just a few:
No one mentions it
There's a human in Hometown
There's enough intermingling for there to be a book on how to care for humans in the librarby
There's enough intermingling for there to be "monsters 4 humans" dating ads (Kris clicking on Poppup)
Granted, there are probably still tensions between Humans and Monsters, but whatever they are, I don't think it's enough to cause a complete schism like in Undertale.
So, how much lore can we retain? The "Kingdom of Monsters" is probably out. Does Deltarune have an equivalent? Sort of. The "Kingdom of Darkness" is Deltarune's closest counterpart, being trapped in a different plane you fall down into, for example.
However, the Delta Rune seems completely absent from the dark worlds, bar one location: Castle Town. This is also the only place directly called a "Kingdom of Darkness", by Ralsei. As Ralsei was its only inhabitant, and the Delta Runes were already all over Castle Town when we first got there, this associates Ralsei with the Delta Rune, and by extension, the angel.
This is a little strange, since the Delta Rune is otherwise exclusively a light world thing (barring one example we'll discuss in a moment), implying Ralsei has some connection to the light world. Seeing as he looks almost exactly like Asriel, and his name is an anagram, he at the very least has some connection to a specific lightner, so this isn't out of the question, especially given how religious Asriel is.
However, the Delta Rune, seemingly, can't be the emblem of the "Kingdom of Darkness", at least not primarily, given how often it's used by lightners who have, presumably, never heard of dark worlds. However, the "Kingdom of Darkness" may only be associated with Ralsei's Castle Town, rather than all dark worlds, which would explain the Delta Rune's presence there exclusively. This could tell us that Ralsei knows more about the light world than most, something that seems to be true given the specific directions he gives us to the unused classroom at the start of chapter 2, as well as all the strange lore he seems to know.
Tumblr media
The weirdest placement of the Delta Rune, the one that seems to break this pattern, is in Seam's seap. It's prominent in the top left of Seam's shop's background. This, combined with the fact that the music that plays is named "Lantern" for no clear reason, gives Seam a weirdly strong connection to light/the angel, at least compared to any other darkner besides Ralsei.
Could Seam be considered a light in the dark because of a potential relationship with a lightner? As a worn down old plush, Seam was probably very beloved. Or, could that light in the dark theming mean that Seam absorbed a lightner's soul at some point? Spamton implies that's a possibility, as he tries to do it with Kris. Whatever the case, it places Seam in a weird spot. We'll consider Seam more later, there's a lot I want to talk about, some parts much more speculative than others, but there might be enough information to take a decent guess at his origins.
Tumblr media
Emblem's meaning:
* That emblem actually predates written history. * The original meaning has been lost to time...
* All we know is that the triangles symbolize us monsters below, and the winged circle above symbolizes...
* Somethin' else.
* Most people say it's the 'angel,' from the prophecy...
Ironically enough, despite Gerson knowing they symbolize monsters in Undertale, I'm actually less sure about what the triangles mean in Deltarune than I am for the winged circle. It may still mean just monsters, but that doesn't feel quite right. The implication seems to be that the angel is more powerful than everyone, including Kris, and the disparity of power between monsters and humans doesn't seem to be a thing anymore. Monsters and humans seem to be on a more level playing field in Deltarune than they were in Undertale, seemingly having physical bodies as well, since they can wield determination.
So, I posit that, in Deltarune, the two upward-pointing triangles symbolize humans and monsters, and the downward-pointing triangle symbolizes darkners. It's still just a guess though, we may not know for sure until we get a more direct discussion of the Deltarune Delta Rune in Deltarune.
The prophecy:
* Oh yeah... * The prophecy.
* Legend has it, an 'angel' who has seen the surface will descend from above and bring us freedom.
* Lately, the people have been taking a bleaker outlook...
* Callin' that winged circle the 'Angel of Death.'
* A harbinger of destruction, waitin' to 'free' us from this mortal realm...
* In my opinion, when I see that little circle...
* I jus' think it looks neat! * Wahaha!
As for the circle, that still seems to symbolize the angel, so let's look at what it meant in Undertale. The angel is someone who's seen the surface, and has the power to free monsterkind, some way or another. This could apply to many people. Frisk, Chara, Asriel/Flowey, maybe even the player if you want to consider them enough a part of the world to have a prophecy about them. Freedom, of course, remains relevant, and may be much more relevant in Deltarune than it was in Undertale.
So, the angel is someone with an ambiguous identity, who, through murder or mercy, holds control over the freedom of those below it, perhaps as a protector, perhaps as a destroyer.
This, I think, is another point in favour of the angel in Deltarune potentially changing depending on how you play it. Even in Undertale, their identity was markedly ambiguous, and with how little information we have on the angel, the fact that attention seems to be brought to that ambiguity in both Undertale and Deltarune probably means something.
You could even argue that the angel changes depending on your route in Undertale, too. Frisk is the most prominent in the neutral route, freeing themself in a variety of ways. As they're the apparent player character (though I posit we actually play as Chara possessing Frisk, hence why we name them), they have the most versatility, but it also makes it hard to say there's any particular way Frisk "freed" everyone. Asriel explicitly frees everyone in the pacifist route, and Chara has a greater presence in the merciless route, freeing everyone from mortality. This isn't to argue that Chara is the cause of the merciless route, just that they have a greatly increased presence there. You could consider it "their route", to an extent.
It's not perfect, but it works far better than I'd expect from a pure coincidence, and you could absolutely make the argument that Frisk frees people in some way in the neutral route, or that the neutral route just doesn't count for as much, since it feels less complete and final than either of the other two routes (neutral has been called essentially "boneless pacifist"). You could also argue Frisk and Asriel share the pacifist route, as it's where everyone learns Frisk's name and they first clearly establish themself as distinct from just a nameless vessel for the player and/or Chara.
Either way, the ambiguity of the angel, and it changing based on route, is pretty clearly baked in to Undertale, and given that they're parallel stories that are likely to share a lot of themes (and already do in a multitude of ways), it factors nicely into a potential variation in the angel's identity in Deltarune as well.
What's "the surface" equivalent in Deltarune then? The light world? If so, all serious candidates so far, except for perhaps Ralsei, have seen the light world. Even for Ralsei, it's possible he's seen it, given that he knows the school's layout, and the game seemingly goes out of its way to never explicitly call him a darkner in the narration, menus, or Ralsei's own dialogue, but instead refers to him as a more ambiguous "dark world being", leaving the metaphorical door cracked open just enough for him to potentially be able to traverse the light world. Even if he is a normal darkner, it could still be argued that, as objects in the light world, every darkner has seen it, so this may not tell us much at all.
Tumblr media
* However... * There is a prophecy.
* The Angel... * The One Who Has Seen The Surface...
* They will return. * And the underground will go empty.
The waterfall sign doesn't actually seem to tell us any new information. You could maybe see the specificity of the wording implying that the prophecy only applies to Undertale, as it specifically mentions the underground going empty, which seems to apply more to Undertale than it could to Deltarune.
However, even looking at this with more scrutiny, it's possible the angel's heaven, whatever it is, will destroy all dark worlds, or, by the time it happens, the roaring has already begun, all darkners have turned to stone, and the dark world, Deltarune's closest underground equivalent, has gone empty that way. In fact, I think the roaring being first is the implied, or even stated, order of events. There are plenty of ways to spin this that don't feel too farfetched.
Tumblr media
* Tra la la. * The angel is coming... * Tra la la.
This tells us basically nothing. Thanks, Riverperson.
Stuff that's not direct "angel" mentions:
This section is going to go over some miscellaneous stuff. I'm not going to cover everything, because I realistically can't, but I'll cover everything that seems the most relevant to my theory.
I won't be discussing the design of the church, because, despite its obvious relevance to the angel, there's not much info I can get out of it besides the resemblance to Christianity. I tried.
First up, the character with the most angel connections, me!
Noelle, And The Purpose Of The Weird Routes:
Tumblr media
So, right away we've got a lot of angel indicators in the character design, most clearly the dark world one. There's themes of christmas angels, snow angels, and when Queen's giant mech thing holds me at the end of Chapter 2, I'm strung up not only like a puppet, but like one of those angels you put on nativity sets.
Tumblr media
Even my face is unseen, just like the doll, and I don't show it until I'm released from the hand and out of that angel-esque pose.
At this point, there are so many hints that I'm the angel, it feels almost too obvious! Which is why, on top of being called angel explicitly only in the weird route, I think I'm not the angel in a first playthrough. If I were the angel, and the angel's heaven is something we're trying to stop, why would we intentionally make the angel *more powerful* on a first playthrough? We wouldn't, of course!
But on a second playthrough, intentionally making me more powerful in the weird route to replace the previous route's angel makes perfect sense, and I'm the ideal candidate with all of my angel connections anyway. We're doing exactly what Queen did, albeit more harshly, and creating the angel rather than the knight. If the angel doesn't do what we want, we will simply make a new one. It's a reason for the weird route that isn't pure sadism. I don't think we'll have a repeat of Undertale's merciless route, where you do it just to see what happens. It's already been done, and the steps you take for the weird route are much more methodical and precise. This time, there's a purpose.
Plus, on a second playthrough, you'd know I have some hidden power, at least from Queen, but probably from other sources by then too. After all, the part where Queen mentions my power is immediately after the weird route section, you can't see it if you do the weird route to completion on your first playthrough, so anyone playing normally wouldn't know to make me more powerful, they have no reason to. It has to be a second playthrough, minimum, to make sense, just like the merciless route in Undertale.
So, if I'm not there for chapter 3, and it seems like I won't be, what might its weird route hold in store? How could it farther this goal? I believe the next step is to isolate me from my support network, anyone I might go to for help. That's why we killed Berdly in the first place. If I find out that Berdly actually died, the first people I go to would be the police. As such, I think we'll manipulate Toriel into killing Undyne, who is likely nearby watching over the house, as otherwise I doubt Toriel would be able to sleep soundly.
I bet we'll do it by getting Kris's health low and forcing Toriel to "protect" us with force. This is also supported by my mention of Fireshock in the hospital, as we know Toriel uses fire magic in Undertale, so she'll likely have it in the dark world, and it could serve as an equivalent to my Iceshock. We also know from Undertale that Undyne is specifically weak to heat. Over the course of the weird routes, we'll gradually eliminate anyone I could rely on except for Kris (or whoever is possessing them), letting them manipulate and mold me freely.
The fact that the angel themes are only so obvious with my dark world character design may also be meaningful. Only a certain, darker version of me is the angel. The normal me is just me. It's also interesting how much Chapter 2 seems to be trying to push me as a main character, despite my not being a normal part of the team.
As a bonus, though perhaps this is a bit of a stretch, I'm also wearing a white sheet almost like a ghost, possibly foreshadowing the death and destruction that comes with my being the angel? But that could just be coincidence given the clear angel theming the outfit already has. The pose may also invoke the idea of crucifixion. Knowing Toby's penchant for foreshadowing and double meanings, and how much the angel religion seems to share with Christianity, maybe it's intentional? Speaking of which...
Angels, Demons, and Power:
Tumblr media
Lore on demons is incredibly sparse, far more than even something as enigmatic as the angel. Chara calls themself one. Kris has probably tried to summon one with Catti. That's it, as far as explicit mentions of the term in any even remotely serious context. However, despite this, I think it may be able to tell us a few things.
In some sects of Christianity, demons are fallen angels. I've been wondering, are demons and angels similar in Undertale/Deltarune? Or even the same thing? Maybe! Perhaps this is a bit, to borrow a term, dubious, but I think there's a case to be made for them being more similar than you might expect.
Chara matches everything we know about the angel in Undertale, and Chara also calls themself a demon. We know that the angel religion in Deltarune bears similarities to Christianity that feel more than coincidental, so angels and demons being one and the same wouldn't contradict that inspiration. What really makes me think this is important though, comes back to Power.
There are 2 beings in Undertale with power far beyond anything else: Chara, and briefly, Flowey. Flowey comes into power through his own actions, and while he couldn't have done it without our help in either route, to say we "made" Flowey into an all-powerful being is perhaps a stretch. Or, perhaps it's not. It depends on your perspective.
To say we made Chara into an all-powerful being however, not only is that perfectly reasonable, but it even seems to be the intended reading! Here's what they say:
Greetings. I am Chara. Thank you. Your power awakened me from death. My "human soul." My "determination." They were not mine, but YOURS. At first, I was so confused. Our plan had failed, hadn't it? Why was I brought back to life? You. With your guidance. I realized the purpose of my reincarnation. Power. Together, we eradicated the enemy and became strong. HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV. Every time a number increases, that feeling... That's me. Now. Now, we have reached the absolute. There is nothing left for us here. Let us erase this pointless world, and move on to the next.
That's kind of explicit, isn't it? The blame lies with us. We made Chara into what they are, and we do it through mercilessly attaining Power above all else. Chara doesn't even meet the qualifications to be the angel until we make them into a demon. Even though we're making a demon in the merciless route, we're also making an angel. This all sounds pretty familiar to me!
Tumblr media
It even ends the same way as I think Deltarune will. Chara takes control, and resets. Or, erases the world and then eventually resets.
You could also say, then, that "god" is an equivalent term to demon and angel, as that's what Flowey/Asriel calls himself in the pacifist final battle, and the angel seems to take the place of God in the angel religion. So, we're making a demon, we're making an angel, we're making a god, we're making frozen chicken, all in an attempt to drink some of that sweet sweet freedom sauce. Plus, what RPG inspired by the classics wouldn't end with confronting a god? All three routes of Undertale did it!
As for the less serious instances of "demon", I don't think Temmie's demon comic or Alphys's mention of demons ruining the later seasons of the Symptons really mean anything relevant. It's possible that the Alphys one has some meaning, so I guess let's give that a brief look:
* But make sure you don't watch past the second season
* Since they just rebooted it as Symptons Turbo
* They all started driving their own motor-vehicles
* And fighting giant giga-demons and stuff
* The main problem about that is that it kind of
* Lost the focus on family that it had earlier
* When their vehicles were shaped like animals
* And they were friends with the animal vehicles too
So, there's a chance that "when their vehicles were shaped like animals" refers to the rollercoaster cars in the second chapter, matching the second season. But the only potential "giga-demons" we might fight are the titans in the roaring, and those don't really give the impression of being things you can fight so much as forces of nature, mountains brought to life by the magic of a dark fountain, and presumably having so much magic in them that their emotions run wild and they wreak havoc (there's a lot tying magic to emotions in both Undertale and Deltarune, look into it if you're interested!). Unless the roaring happens way earlier than makes sense given the current pacing of the story, or we start fighting some giant demonic entity in chapter 3 with some kind of motor vehicle, this probably doesn't mean anything important.
If the Temmie one has any meaning, I can't for the life of me figure out where to even begin in deciphering it.
A Brief Extended Intermission To Talk About Seam:
It's time to talk about that one outlier Delta Rune again. What association does Seam have with light?
Tumblr media
One of the possibilities I touched on before is the answer I've come to. Seam is likely the most powerful darkner we've met because Seam's so beloved by lightners.
Seam used to be owned by Catti, and possibly her family as well, passed down from person to person. That explains why Seam's a purple cat, the somewhat gothic aesthetic, why Seam's so worn down yet has been patched up multiple times, why Seam seems so old, and why Seam was the court wizard. Catti is the only lightner to mention magic as a real thing, outside of dark world contexts, and we know she involves herself in it frequently. Seam is like if she had a family member that was "more goth", as she says she wants.
So, how did Seam get to the school? How does Seam have a history with Jevil?
Catti's family is the perfect one to misplace Seam. They probably donated a bunch of items to the school, like a deck of cards, which is why Seam's known Jevil for a while. We know things get donated, because some of Kris's old books are there. I bet dad cat donated them, he's forgetful enough to accidentally miss Seam being in the box of stuff to donate, and their house is messy enough that they might not realize Seam isn't home anymore. That might also be why there are cardboard stands at the bake sale, they could be repurposed from the cardboard box used to bring Seam there.
This, I think, explains a lot of Seam's light in the dark theming. However, I don't think it's quite enough to fully justify Seam having a Delta Rune just from having a strong connection to a lightner. If angels and demons are the same thing, that could help, as we know Catti has an interest in demonology, and has looked into how to summon a demon with Kris. Seam, then, would absolutely be able to have an association with demons, and thus, angels.
I'm not fully confident that this is the only reason for Seam's Delta Rune, but it's the best idea I've got. Either way, while Seam is obviously important, I don't think Seam has enough of a presence to be a very realistic candidate for the angel on a non-weird route. Which brings us, finally, to...
Tumblr media
The End:
Much like "kill or be killed", I think "your choices don't matter" is a theme that applies to the whole world, not just to Kris. The difference is, in Undertale, Flowey was proven wrong. In Deltarune, everything seems to be set out to prove its theme right. The secret bosses and Seam, those characters with the most knowledge of the world and its lore, seem to agree that the world's fate is sealed.
Even Ralsei, who also has a lot of lore knowledge he seemingly shouldn't, might agree with this. His approach, however, is not to lose hope, but to try to make sure his adventure with Kris and Susie is the most fun it can be. That's why he doesn't want you to think too hard about Spamton NEO. That's why he almost never asserts his will over Kris or Susie, and lets them make all the choices. When the destination is set in stone, it's best to just enjoy the journey, and he wants to make that happen for Kris and Susie. He doesn't want you to worry about a fate you can't change, so he never brings it up, and he tries to make sure you don't think about it. He only puts his foot down to stop the roaring, something that would cut that journey short, and perhaps he holds out a bit of hope that there might be some way to change fate.
I think the true message of the story isn't really "your choices don't matter", but "in a world where your choices can't affect anything on a grander scale, how will you live your life?". Jevil decides to focus purely on having fun, consequences be damned. Seam loses hope, but finds comfort in those that share his knowledge of the inevitable. Spamton tries desperately to escape his fate, but at the end of the pacifist version of his NEO fight, he finds new purpose in his existence, to live for the sake of himself and his new friends. Even when he fails to be freed, he still gives himself to his friend Kris, holding out hope that, maybe, they can break their own strings, even if he couldn't.
Tumblr media
All we have left is figuring out how viable our candidates are for being the angel of a non-weird route. I've touched, already, on why I don't think I'll be the angel in that route (or routes, maybe), so we'll move on to who I think is the most likely:
Susie:
Tumblr media
If I had to guess, I'd say Susie is the most likely by far of the candidates we know of to be the angel in a non-weird route.
But why? Isn't she always making her own choices? Doesn't she have the most meaningful impact on the world of any character we know of, besides the one we control? Yes, she does. And that's exactly why I think she'll become the most powerful being in the world, able to do just about anything. As the person who's choices have always mattered the most, what an irony it would be to, in the most important moment, with all this Power, have her choices not matter.
But, aside from the impact, why else do I think this? Well, first, she's the only other character who's ever been explicitly referred to as "angel". Susie is also the most powerful attacker, and will often refuse to equip items that lower her power. Power is practically baked into Susie as a concept, including power over choices. But in this world, your choices don't matter. Your fate is already sealed.
The roaring happens before the end of the world, before the angel's heaven. When Susie gains this power, the roaring will have already started. Lightners will die, darkners will turn to stone, including Lancer. Her hand will be forced. All this power, and she has no option but to reset.
But what even is Power?
I think the heart on Susie's belt may be a clue, not only to what Power is, but to Susie's eventual acquisition of it. Power is vague, but its function in Deltarune seems to at least match Determination. I think power is short for "soul power". Soul power is a very vague concept, but Determination falls under its purview, and thus the ability to save, load, and reset.
It's unclear exactly what sort of Power you gain by becoming LV 20 in Undertale, but the results seem to be much the same: control over the timeline, and perhaps even the power to attack reality itself. So, did Chara potentially retrieve the 6 human souls when we weren't looking? It doesn't seem like it, they were multiple rooms away, under the floor, and we cut immediately to the conversation with Chara after killing Asgore and Flowey, while still in the throne room.
Plus, Chara is a human, and while perhaps they're not one anymore by the end of the merciless route, or perhaps being a spirit means they're not human anymore, it would still feel a bit odd for them to have absorbed the 6 human souls, especially without us even seeing it. We see Flowey do it, why wouldn't we see Chara do it?
As such, I have to assume there are ways to attain this reality warping Power without needing human souls, which means we don't have to account for our candidate killing multiple humans to gain this Power. Or monsters as the case may be, if our candidate is Kris or some other human, as monsters can wield Determination too in Deltarune, though I don't know if that translates to other aspects of soul power.
Of course, LV is still tied to killing, and while Susie so far seems to be the most violent of our candidates, killing people to gain Power seems pretty far out of character for her, especially by Chapter 2. But Deltarune has a second system of LV used in the dark world that isn't tied to killing. You level up at the start of Chapter 2, whether you used violence or not. Maybe that holds the key?
Another piece of evidence, and a bit of a strange one, is the theme of romance with Kris. Both times someone calls me angel, it's when I'm getting a ring, and the romance themes of that are intentionally played up a bit. Kris may have a crush on Susie, that seems to be implied a few times, but most clearly by them liking Susie tea so much, by clicking on a Poppup ad for "monsters for humans in your area", and by them clearly preferring Susie when asked who they'd take to the fair at the end of chapter 2.
As I'm known to like scary things, and I mention Kris's name first when visiting the hospital after the weird route, it's possible I'll develop an unhealthy crush on Kris in the weird route, maybe even replacing my crush on Susie. Spamton even calls me Kris's "side chick" in this route, not only supporting the romance connection between Kris and I on that route, but that Kris has a different love interest as well, a "main" one, rather than a "side" one. As such, who Kris ends up in a romance with may also relate to who becomes the angel.
I can't be sure that Susie will be the angel, and while I think she is far more likely a candidate than anyone else we know of, our evidence is still limited. I'll be thorough and examine the other options as well.
Ralsei:
Tumblr media
Ralsei is clearly based on Asriel (or maybe the other way around, as the idea for Deltarune came first), and we know that Flowey, a mysterious being with the essence of Asriel, met all the requirements to be the angel in Undertale. There are many clear parallels between Ralsei and Flowey that are easy to find if you're interested, so many that I don't see how it could possibly be a coincidence. So, if we know someone very similar to Ralsei in a lot of ways was the angel in Undertale, why do I think Ralsei won't be the angel in Deltarune?
Well, first, it feels too easy, and too much of a rehash. Deltarune is a remixed version of Undertale to some extent, right? So it would be odd for someone so much like Asriel to be the angel all over again. We also don't even know that darkners have souls in the first place, and while Ralsei is clearly no normal darkner, it still doesn't help his odds at all.
Ralsei is also never referred to as "angel", while Susie is, despite Ralsei clearly being more fitting to be called "angel" than Susie. He also, of course, knows of the angel's heaven and seeks to stop it, along with a lot of other lore knowledge, including how some future events are supposed to go. If he were the angel, he'd probably know it, and of course, knowing the lore doesn't mean he's the angel, as Jevil, Seam, and Spamton know it too.
Tumblr media
So, aside from Ralsei having a clear association with Delta Runes, there's really not much evidence of Ralsei having a strong enough angel connection. There's the fact he has heal prayer, which may be associated with the angel. I also have heal prayer, and I think I'll be the angel. However, I think Toriel will also have heal prayer, as she's the only one to explicitly use healing magic in Undertale. I think you can have heal prayer with any sort of healing/angel association, it doesn't have to be a strong one.
The game does seem to place an odd emphasis on Ralsei being in romantic situations with Kris, like the swan boat ride, but Kris doesn't reciprocate. If romance with Kris is actually connected to who the angel is, it may work for Ralsei as well, giving him a bit more of a connection.
Ralsei is absolutely a possible candidate, I won't dismiss him. He has a few things in his favour, more than anyone but Susie. I just feel like it makes far more sense, especially from a storytelling perspective, to give Susie the role of the angel, unless there's more than one non-weird route so you can do both.
Kris:
Tumblr media
Kris has fewer angel connections compared to either of the previous options. We know they've looked into demon-summoning, so if demons and angels are the same thing, that's a connection. They also resemble Chara, much like Ralsei resembles Flowey/Asriel, and while those connections exist and are numerous, they're not as strong as Ralsei's connections with Flowey/Asriel. Kris also has some Frisk connections, and Frisk may also meet the requirements to be an angel in Undertale. So, there's at least something here.
If the power of the angel is achieved through souls, Kris would probably need monster souls, but we don't actually know that monster souls are strong enough to grant that sort of power. They can wield determination, sure, but determination doesn't seem to be the only aspect of soul power, just part of it. After all, Kris is the only one who can seal the fountains, and they do it with their soul. Kris's soul may be unique, and I think it is, Jaru's Asriel/Ralsei theory can tell you how and why, but they don't demonstrate significantly higher power than anyone else on the team, just their own style.
Kris, unlike Susie, has not been called "angel". Kris's house has Delta Runes on it, but that's probably Toriel's design choice, not theirs. Kris is certainly mysterious, and has some unique abilities, but them being the angel feels too off. It feels like it would run counter to "your choices don't matter" if the character we control is the one to have all this Power. And if the normal route ends with them being so powerful, and we get to control it, it doesn't make sense why Seam, Jevil, and Spamton are all so convinced that the world's fate is sealed. Maybe, like Chara, they take control from us? But that, again, feels like too much of a rehash, and to do it, they've always demonstrated needing to remove their soul, seeming to be greatly weakened in the process.
It's not impossible! Certainly not! But there's just not enough evidence for me to think Kris has a strong case.
Anyone Else:
Berdly doesn't seem like an important enough character. If you kill him in a weird route and then abort it, if he's the angel in a normal route, what happens at the end? His personality also doesn't fit well for such a serious role, and we've already defeated him. It doesn't make sense from a writing perspective.
Toriel already had a major role in Undertale, I don't think she'd get one of the most important roles in Deltarune as well. It also would strike me as odd just by the vibe of it. She'll become important in chapter 3, I'm sure, but that feels like it's a little late to start getting to know the character that will become the angel.
Catti is even worse in this regard. She'll probably have a major role in chapter 4 at the earliest, and that just feels way too late to introduce your angel. The same, of course, goes for Jockington, but he also has the Berdly problem of not being suited for such a serious role.
Alvin has clear angel connections, but he doesn't even have a dialogue portrait. He doesn't seem important enough, and I think he's probably more tied up with knight business.
Lancer has nothing going for him. Absolutely nothing. He also, again, has the problem of not being suited for such a serious and dramatic role as the angel, and as a normal darkner, he should turn to stone before the angel's heaven even happens. This also rules out King and Queen.
Asriel might be an option, but again, him being the angel feels too much like a rehash, even more than Ralsei, and if we don't learn about him for a while, it'd feel kind of cheap, especially to pull the exact same stunt again as Undertale's pacifist ending.
That's about it!
Thanks for sticking with me on this, and suffering through all my ramblings about the variable angel theory, even the parts that only sort of related. Or, if you just skipped to the end, how dare you! But here's the TL;DR for you anyway:
The angel changes depending on the route. In the weird route, it's Noelle. In the normal route, it's probably Susie, but might be Ralsei, and probably ends with a reset to undo the roaring. The weird routes are about manipulating Noelle into replacing the normal angel by the end of the game, and removing Noelle's support network so she has no one but Kris to turn to. First Berdly, and in chapter 3, Undyne, so Noelle can't go the police if she finds out that what happened to Berdly was real. Seam used to be owned by Catti, before probably being accidentally donated to the school along with other toys, including playing cards, which is why he has a history with Jevil. "Power" probably refers to soul power, of which Determination is a part, and angels and demons may be the same thing.

PREDICTIONS: Ralsei
or, why this pile of rock is going to tear my heart out
Tumblr media
Ralsei is a Titan.
"The unending pillar of darkness that gives my body form" dedication in Ralsei's manual matches Ralsei's description of Titans "tak[ing] form from the FOUNTAINS"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ralsei's body completely disappears when downed
Ralsei was first completely shadowy and amorphous within his hooded cloak, then a bit more defined but still shadowy under his hat, before finally settling on a more visible form at the end of Chapter 1
Just before removing his hat, for a couple of frames Ralsei's sprite changes his paw color from black to white. As well, where Ralsei previously had black paws in various animations such as clapping or spell use, they are now white in Chapter 2. These suggest that Ralsei's shadowy appearance is not simply caused by the shade from his hat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ralsei's initial description is a somewhat ambiguous "Dark-World being"
Unlike normal Darkners, Ralsei does not turn to stone and can seemingly teleport between Dark Worlds at will
Ralsei is the sole denizen of Castle Town, an area seemingly abandoned or evacuated, where Titan-like eye marks and darkness covers the land
Ralsei knows a lot about the Roaring
"Do not be alarmed... I am not your enemy." is one of Ralsei's first words to Kris and Susie
Tumblr media
Ralsei wants to redeem himself for participating in the last Roaring by stopping it from happening again.
Again: Ralsei is the sole denizen of Castle Town, an area seemingly abandoned or evacuated, where Titan-like eye marks and darkness covers the land
Ralsei’s portrait/sprite when talking about the Roaring seems haunted
Tumblr media
Ralsei says “I...I’m sorry!!! I repent!!!” in the generally foreshadowy Poppup dialogue
However, Ralsei is an unwitting pawn in a greater villain's scheme.
Ralsei is characterized as overly keen to follow orders.
Poppup dialogue: “Ralsei moved to click on an ad with a bunny on it teaching you how to make friends... ...and accidentally clicked on an ad of a machine gun that appeared over it!” / “Ralsei tried to click on an ad with a castle on it... ...but it was actually an ad for a company that demolishes buildings with bazookas!”
Again: Poppup dialogue: “I... I didn’t mean to do it... I... I’m sorry!!! I repent!!!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In order to fix his mistakes or save the world, Ralsei may sacrifice himself, perhaps becoming the Waterfall statue in Undertale.
Undyne states "That statue's been here forever... No one knows where it came from." This description seems similar to Gerson's explanation of the Delta Rune: "That emblem actually predates written history. The original meaning has been lost to time..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The statue is greyscale and cracked, like Darkners such as Lancer when turned to stone
The statue has horns, like Ralsei (note that the direction of Ralsei's horns varies across sprites/portraits and concept art, sometimes being turned inward and other times outward)
The statue is associated with the song "Memory," which is associated with Asriel, who appears connected to Ralsei
The statue in Waterfall may have been part of the original Royal Memorial Fountain before Mettaton's statue replaced it
If so: Ralsei is associated with all three concepts of a "Royal Memorial Fountain," being a prince who is made from a Dark Fountain and, as "memory" is a prevalent theme in Deltarune and Ralsei sings its "Don't Forget" motif in battle, with remembrance as well
Other things:
Ralsei appears self-aware in the same way as Jevil and others.
"(SAVE and take a break anytime you want, OK?)"
"Even if it's not real, you can still have fun, right?"
"It seems like it was just a corrupted program."
There may be multiple "Ralsei"s in some way.
“They [two Ralsei plushes] are both correct. Both beautiful.” (Toby Fox on Ch 1 Livestream)
“Every Ralsei is equally beautiful.” (Toby Fox on Ch 1 Livestream)
“I just wonder what... being “Ralsei-like” even is...?”
Tumblr media
Unknown: why does Queen not notice Ralsei?
“How Thoughtful You Two Have Come To Help Me / Kris, Susie / Which One Of You Wants To Be The New Knight”
“Hey Was There A Third Guy?????????”
“I Will Miss Each Of You / Noelle, Your Un-needed Honesty / Susie, Your Foolish Bravery / Kris, Your Chill Vibes / ... / B...Burghley?”
Unknown: why does Ralsei (seemingly) know about the ThornRing?
"..." if given
(screenshots: 1 2)
DISCLAIMER: this is a predictions post, just laying out the predictions that i have currently and my personal reasoning. eg. i am by no means the first or only person to consider titan ralsei rofl

DELTARUNE PREDICTION TIME
I hope I finish this post before the anniversary of chapter 1 (nothing else notable happens on that day) I'm putting my 100% correct theories+ predictions here just in case Toby decides to release chapter 3 alone for some reason (I personally think he's releasing just 3 and 4 together next year), but who knows with that dog.
Tumblr media
CHAPTER 3
As everyone else thinks, it's safe to say that the dark world in chapter 3 is probably gonna be TV themed. With different areas going through different channels.
THE BOSS
I don't think we can predict who exactly the main villain is yet based off of one thing Jevil said about a queen in one line. But it would make sense if it were some fucked up game show host guy. Maybe since the Spade King represents Susie's dad, and Queen represents a mother, the chapter 3 boss could represent that estranged uncle that nobody really talks about.
Also Tenna is probably the guy that betrayed Spamton. Not Mike.
Tumblr media
THE SHADOWMEN
They're just gonna be silly litle guys.
THE WEATHER CHANNEL
Also sily.
THE POLICE
Since Toriel called the police and Kris left the door opened, I think that either Undyne shows up, or Napstablook shows up wearing Undyne's Undertale armor. Both of which would be awesome sauce.
NOELLE
No idea if she'll show up in the chapter. But I also have no clue why else the Lost Girl theme was in that unused sneaking section. Yes I'm still thinking about this.
THE END
I believe that chapter 3 might end with Kris sealing the fountain. Like you walk up, that sickass guitar riff plays, the screen fades to white, and the chapter ends (assuming it releases with chapter 4). Imagine how relieving it would be that the chapter doesn't have to end on a massive cliffhanger!
CHAPTER 4
Based on the screenshots we got for the 2022 status update, I don't think chapter 4 will have a dark world. It seems like a nice intermission chapter to just hang out with Susie in Hometown for a couple hours. We could get more insight into the residents of the town, as well as some lore.
Tumblr media
i'm a huge fan of rain so this seems like the best the game will ever get.
I think its possible that Toby might have changed his might about releasing 3-5 together, and that he might just release 3 and 4. Assuming this chapter is just in the light world, it would probably be a lot faster to develop. No enemies, no battles, just cutscenes.
Keep in mind, I just took one programming class 5 years ago, so I'm not the ultimate authority on game design. But if it is easier to develop, I think we could see chapters 3+4 next fall.
I don't really have any other predictions for chapter 4 since all we have are a few screenshots, and even less for the future chapters. So I'm just going to talk about other general things in the game.
THE BUNKER
Tumblr media
Gaster is afoot. Also maybe Dess or something idk yet. Oh and a dark fountain too. Maybe even the supply closet one.
DARK WORLDS
I don't think EVERY room with double doors is going to be a dark world, especially considering that Toby can just retcon them in between chapters, so I like to go off of narrative significance.
I think there will totally be a dark world in the church, considering the Dreemurr family has a significant amount of history with it, as well as the interesting thing you could do with it. Like a giant pipe organ castle or something.
There probably won't be a dark world in Ice-E's, unless something super traumatizing happened to Kris there when they were a kid. But I still have my eye on that Ice-E guy. Something fishy is absolutely going on with him.
Tumblr media
why is he so big
Asgore's flower shop seems like a really good place for a dark world, and I need to see what the golden flower darkener would be. The empty fridge could even be like the ice palace from Dragon Blazers.
THE HOLIDAYS
Rudy is most likely going to die. I really don't want him to but unfortunately it would be really good for the story. Noelle would be forced to stand up to her mom like she did to Queen.
Also Noelle's mom's name is probably either Clarice or Carol.
WEIRD ROUTE
Its likely that not every chapter will have a weird route. I think they are more tied to Noelle's presence, due to her affinity for video game glitches when she was younger. Especially because it seems like the route itself isn't supposed to happen in the game world. And the weird route is a way to break out of the whole "your choices don't matter" thing. You might even be able to save Rudy in the route, at the cost of Noelle's mental state and every other horrible thing you may have to do.
Tumblr media
THE KNIGHT
I don't think the Knight will be the main antagonist. It might get revealed relatively early (like chapter 5), unless its Gaster or something. The actual main antagonist of the game will be either the Roaring Titans or the Angel.
THE ROARING
This is probably gonna happen at some point. Ralsei leaves for ONE minute and someone opens a dark fountain in a dark world. Can't have shit.
Tumblr media
holy hell they look so badass
Also penumbra phantasm final boss theme. make it happen toby.

Note
Akela how much bodily harm would you cause me if I asked about 'Damnit Susi 5 for Akela' 😛
You're a little shit and I should have predicted this.
I haven't opened that doc since you sent it to me and now.
Now I have to actually remember what that was? Rude.
opens doc
oh. Oh fuck right.
DAMMIT.
Alright, so this is the "What if Walker took over Arkham Asylum and simultaneously made it both better and worse." idea. That's not the exact prompt but it's what it boils down too.
(OG prompt, from Tourettesdog is this:  Sick of hearing how frequently inmates escape Arkham (from the ghosts of their victims), Walker decides to take management of the facility into his own hands)
I haven't opened this doc in a bit, nor thought about it, so the thoughts on how this would go are still very vague. But I imagine that Walker starts out pretty reasonable. As far as like. Ghosts go. He hasn't been in the human realm is SO LONG and he knows the Rules are different here but obviously whatever Rules govern Arkham they aren't working.
So he makes better ones. Rules can be adjusted based on the place and he's not dumb enough to apply Ghost Zone Rules to a living realm facility.
But the major problem is Walker runs a prison. And Arkham is supposed to be an asylum. They are not one and the same. At the end of the day, Arkham is sort of set up to try and rehabilitate and release.
And like. Walker's not thinking of that. Or used to that. Ghost Zone prison sentences may not for like, eternity, but they are usually far longer than any human lifetime.
You add in the stories he's heard of these people, and he's not real inclined to let them go.
Unsure how Danny would fit in yet. Whether he's moved to Gotham and gets Sus when no one's heard from a Villain in...weeks or if he hears some GZ gossip and has to go see what's happened now.
Either way, Arkham is very different. Many people were fired (The amount of bribery happening in this place, holy hell) and the inmates are finding it damn near impossible to bribe these new guards. Or wait for them to fall asleep. Or just get bored.
(Which isn't to say you can't bribe a ghost, but I don't think Arkham inmates would have what any of these ghost guards want lol)
Anyway, chaos would ensue. Because it's one of my WIPs.
I hope you enjoyed the ramble. It's not completely thought out yet.
If y'all want to see a list of my WIPs, here you go:

Analyzing the SM6 cast line up teaser
More fun for the non-patrons as a height chart of episode 6's characters dropped and I have *thoughts*
Before we delve into the analysis, be advised that this will reference my SM6 prediction post, which can be found here.
And out last bit of preface
Tumblr media
These three new characters teased in an earlier update are hereafter referred to as the businessman, the new mortician and the cat lady.
Bear that in mind.
Tumblr media
So here's the 2 lined height chart, so let's start putting names to these blobs!
Line 1: The Thieves, Lila, Skid and Pump, Susie (she's pretty hard to see, but you can mostly notice her shirt and hair), Mr. Wonder, Jaune, Jaune's Husband (who was shown in full in an earlier update).
The next figure at first appears to be another shadow, but upon closer inspection seems to be Father Gregor, after that we have;
The Cat Lady, Dexter (likely in another missing ad or for his body being unpossessed, if for a moment), Patty, John and Jack, then we have the first totally new character, a massive person (taller than Frank, making them the new tallest human in the series) who brings me to my first new theory:
This character, whose proportions are highly evocative of a cartoon vampire, will be either yet another new mortician, or in charge of the hospital's blood bank. Funnily enough, this actually matches weirdly well to a half-joking conversation me and @crossover-enthusiast had the other day.
Line 2: Skid and Pump again (for reference), Ross, Robert and Roy, Kevin, Radford (in his teased casual outfit), the actor in the Happy Fella suit, Mayor Evermore, The New Mortician and then... Roy's Uncle??!?!
This might be my biggest validation yet, as I've had a thought for some time of us first seeing the New Demon in hell, torturing the Uncle, if this ends up being true, I am officially the king of the SM fandom!... Where were we?
Oh yeah, we then have; Ignacio, The Businessman, Frank and yet another totally new character, a portly person I have no solid theories on.
Before I leave, I'd like to mention some characters who are missing here (other than Moloch and any other supernatural characters who might appear). Those being; Lucky, the Actor and Actress and Rick.
Rick is the only notable outlier, as he's a relatively major character, so where is he?
Well, I think Rick's absence is quite simple to explain. While not outright confirmed, Rick is heavily implied to be working at Gonuts in episode 6, meaning he's wearing a new uniform. I think Pelo just didn't want to spoil this, and so left Rick and his new outfit out of the line up.
And that's all I've got! One last note before we're done here, I'm pretty sure next week's update will be the episode 6 trailer, so there's that.

So as I understand, you were already doing the whole 'William/OMC infects people and uses them to do his bidding' thing before HW seemed to imply William(Before we learned about the whole Mimic thing) was doing the same
What was your reaction to that Glitchtrap stuff coincidentally being like what you planned?
I did, somehow! Ultimate Custom Night hadn't come out yet when Almost Feels Like Home started, so I was pretty surprised. 👀I've had a weird history of predicting Fnaf stuff before it happens and that was kind of like the first instance of that.
BUT that made the fic surprisingly topical! Or at least, it gave me a really cool additional set piece, because I was then able to sew in Pizza Party and Glitchtrap without it being too outlandish. XD
In total, here are my current list of coincidences that look like predictions:
Chrissy was described to look like how Susie looks in PS before that game came out. They might've described her in The Silver Eyes, but I hadn't read it at that time.
Natalie was described as a blond female security guard who just happened to look like Vanessa long before she showed up. XD
Jake has Eclipse's missing leg and too is a broken Daycare Attendant.
Technically I had Gabriel hallucinating on gas "fear gas" in his last few days in Afton Robotics, but I can't remember if I ever fully mentioned that or if it was just something in the back of my mind.
Technically Ennard kind of resembles Mimic's shtick a little, lol.
I take pride in this random precognition that for some reason gives me obscure Fnaf comparisons instead of lottery numbers.

How about Ms. Gladiia and Miss Susie Glitter.
Gladiia:
My NOTP for them -
Y'know, while it's easy to imagine hypothetical ships that would irk me, I don't think I've seen anyone actually ship them?? I dunno. Gladiia and not being in my operator list ig
My BROTP for them -
The thing she ends up having with Doc where she's just flat out like "just leave. go. I can do this faster than you." is fucking hilarious so those two, yes.
My OTP for them -
Gladiia/Kal, duh
My second choice pairing for them -
Pick any of the Hunters and yeah.
Is it cheating to put Gladiia/Doc here too? Because the dance line fucked me up
My fluffy pairing for them -
Gladiia/Laurentina, probably!
My angsty pairing for them -
see all of the above mentioned thus far
My favorite poly ship for them -

Abyssal Hunters, c'mon
My weirdest pairing for them -
the concept floated around of Susie and the AHs is fucking hilarious yes please
Speaking of her!
Goldenglow, Aka Susie Glitter oh my god that's her actual name-:
My NOTP for them -
Romantic Redblade/Susie! Just doesn't do it for me, soz. I can still appreciate art of them though so, I guess not really a NOTP?
My BROTP for them -
Redblade/Susie, platonic! I loved his bit with stopping the bigot, that was super fun.
My OTP for them -
Susie/Quercus! Vanilla, I know, I know.
My second choice pairing for them -
Susie/Haze! Good cat that looks like a dog and an absolute menace to society, together
My fluffy pairing for them -
Susie/Quercus again, I'm predictable, my bad
My angsty pairing for them -
Susie/Haze, because both have so much that is deeply wrong with them. So so wrong.
My favorite poly ship for them -
Y'know, haven't thought about that... I got nothing chief
My weirdest pairing for them -

Hackenbush’s log #2 - Contemplation
I’m not entirely surprised something like this happened.
That’s not to say I expected our ship to get shot down. I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted that, and I’m still in… quite a state of shock from it. Don’t think I’ve ever been this terrified before.
But at the same time, this is just the sort of thing that happens when you’re with Joey Drew. He’s not unlucky, per se… more like a magnet for the unexpected. Crazy things happen to him, and everyone around him, for the better, and for the worse.
I wonder if he and Susie made it. I hope so. Joey never considered me anything more than a colleague, but Susie and I were friends, and I know her heart would break if she lost him.
I got a radio message about a rendezvous. It’s only been 3 days since the crash. Didn’t say who ordered it, but so soon after planetfall, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was Joey. He always has been impatient.
I think that’s why he had such difficulty being taken seriously. It made him seem… amateurish. Can’t rush a project and get any kind of decent results, but he always wanted to anyway.
He probably sees all this as a “minor setback”. If he’s alive, that is.
All of this ain’t to say he’s not brilliant. Bright as a star and sharp as a knife, that one. Maybe that’s why he was so impatient; to him everyone else must seem dreadfully slow.
But I think it was more that he got so focused on his goal, that anything that didn’t directly bring him closer to it felt pointless. Like supplementary research, or… proper experimental method.
I don’t know why I’m recordin’ this. Better than just sittin’ in silence, I suppose.
The current is pushin’ me closer to shallower water. I think so anyway. Hope so. Should be able to tell better after a couple more days pass. But until then… well, I guess I can keep talkin’ to myself. Maybe do some stargazing.
[A distant shriek]
Try and figure out how long I’ve got until one of whatever’s out here decides to pay me a visit…

TMMM 5x06 thought
SPOILERS UNDER HERE
I’m not sure how Midge could come off as unlikeable in like 2 minutes of standup in the opening, but somehow, I felt it. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I like seeing more of Susie outside of her life with Midge, but…I didn’t really like this and I can’t put my finger on why? I think it was kind of boring honestly. A lot of the first part of the ep felt like filler, idk.
Oh good, Joel is Midge’s saviour from the mob! 😤 He’s such a perfect guy too, he didn’t turn Archie in! 🙄 Fucking hell, I give up. 😒
“I need a man who makes me laugh at breakfast” Erm, do I even need to say it?! 🥺
“I think I’m still in love with Joel” Barf. Obviously a stress reaction, but still, barf. 🤢
I just knew the mob would have something to do with Midge and Susie falling out and yep. It’s still actually worse than I though - I figured Susie would insist Midge distanced herself, but instead Midge comes off as a pretty shitty, selfish person again. And that video message? Eh, not really enough to counter all the bitterness for me.
I just HATE the assassination of Midge’s character. This is NOT the person Midge would have become with the journey she went on in seasons 1-4 ffs.
Prediction: we’ll find out Susie either dropped dead or got stabbed or something before she could get to see Midge again.

All of this in a male dominated industry (Part 1) (George Russell)
Note: english is not my first language
I had this idea/character description in my head and I wanted to write about it (there's a part 2 as tumblr didn't let me post the whole thing as one)
Feedback is appreciated 🤍 and although I'm not taking requests per se, if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so!
Also, thank you so much for every ❤️ and reblog, it means a lot to me!
Tw: Curse words, gender inequality
Part 2 can be read here
You could never have predicted that one of your rants would bring you here.
It started from a lunch break discussion on how women in engineering needed to do a lot more work to prove that they were at least as competent as their male peers, some of your colleagues and friends at the table joining for a polite discussion on their points of view. One thing lead to another and when Grace, one of the senior tutors, thought it was odd that the lab was empty and went looking for you guys, she heard you defend your points, smiling to herself as she had once felt everything you were describing as being the only woman in that project, "Y/N, a word with me please? In my office", she made her presence known in the room. Looking at everyone on the table, you knew that this was either a good thing or a really bad thing, and you hoped for the first. Sitting in the chair opposite to hers on her desk at her office, she went straight to business, "next week we're having a conference", she started, "yeah, I know, I already paid for my place". She offered you a smile you couldn't quite place between creepy and maybe pride, "We're holding a panel about women in engineering and we wanted a student to speak about it, and for the last few weeks I've had my eye on you and I think you'd be a great speaker". That's not how you thought your Wednesday afternoon was going to go, "Me? You want me? Susie Wolff is talking in that panel too", you tried to reason with her, "and? You're afraid you'll outshine her?", she giggled, coming back to the relaxed posture you knew her to have, "You really think this is a good idea?", you asked, "Obviously it's up to you, but if I were you I wouldn't lose this opportunity", she advised. The topic was something you always felt passionate about, from when you were a little girl and wanted to build cars with LEGO blocks instead of princess castles to receiving looks when you were one of the few females in your classrooms in university, earning many "are you sure you're in the right lecture? This is Thermodynamics", and you had looked up to Susie Wolff since you watched a woman do what she did, hoping you'd grow up to be just like her. Yeah, you would be damned if you didn't take that opportunity. Seeing the glimmer in your eyes, your tutor smiled, "just send me a draft until next Tuesday with the topics you want to talk about", before escorting the both of you out to the lab.
Which brought you here, checking if your cards were in the right order, "For anyone who called me stuborn when I was little, here's what you get when you work hard enough for things", you though to yourself as you looked in the mirror, checking if your suit was neatly ironed before heading to the room where everyone who was speaking in the panel gathered before the talk.
That morning, Susie was having breakfast at the factory with the team, George, Lewis, Angela, Toto and John, one of the engineers, sat in the same table whilst the rest of the team sat on the other tables, "Toto, don't forget you said you'd come to my talk this afternoon", Susie said to her husband who nodded, "You're giving a talk?", Lewis asked, "Yeah, it's all about women in engineering and there's this really good research group there, Grace from the university is leading it, and she says that they have some interesting takes on a few things for cars. You might even want to check it out, John, she said that they've tested in simulations and it seems quite good. Actually, you lot should come and see what us women are planning to do when we take over the world", she teased, earning a cheer from Angela, everyone at the table discussing who would ride with who to the conference. Arriving and choosing to sit in one of the available seats at the front, the five of them could see the chairs clearly, waiting for them to be occupied, "look, they have a student talking on the panel too", Angela pointed out from the program they had given out. Claps were heard as who Toto recognised as Grace, an old friend of Susie, sitting in one of the chairs, announcing and welcoming each member of the panel. And when you sat down, a cornflower blue suit complimenting your tones perfectly, you caught George's attention, "that's Y/N, the student Angela was talking about", Lewis said casually to George, "you looked like you could benefit from that information", before turning his head back and clapping for Susie before she began her talk.
The way you carried yourself was mesmerising to George, you were about his age and you spoke like you weren't in front of senior tutors and people from the industry, but like you were talking to your peers, sharing your experiences, the environment you were in granting you the freedom and comfort to do so. As it was the final panel of the day, the department headteacher did a closing session and guided everyone to the coffee break, different foods spread on tables as well as drinks for everyone to enjoy.
"Y/N, that was an amazing talk, and so relaxed as well! We already know Susie was a professional on these things", Angela congratulated you as she nudged Susie's side, "but you did really well too, congratulations!", "We took all of those photos with them, but it's really you who should gave gotten them. In a few years time, everyone will regret they didn't take a picture with you today. Your talk was incredible, I really enjoyed it", Toto complimented, "Thank you so much, it means a lot coming from the both of you. Everyone in this room probably has some sort of a photo of me, maybe I should be worried that they'll have one of me sleeping on top of a textbook in the library", you giggled, drinking from the cup on your hand. John then pulled your attention as you started discussing your project and its potential impact in a Formula 1 car, different points of view and possible obstacles being ruled out as you felt like you were just discussing with your colleagues and not with someone whose hardworking career had lead them to be in one of the top teams of motorsport.
George was positively smouldering, his eyes not being able to leave your figure, noticing how you had a cute little mole just on the side of your eye, showing up when you weren't giggling and had those little creases above your cheek, or how you had a heeled shoe on but still had to look up to talk to John, every now and again adjusting the sleeves of your blazer as you pushed your hair back. "Is someone looking for their next love interest?", George heard Lewis say, "in all honesty she looks like a lovely woman, you should take your opportunity", "you think so? A woman that carries herself with that confidence doesn't fall for 'charm' ou flirty pick up lines, didn't you hear all of her achievements? All of that in this male dominated industry...", George was speechless and Lewis had known him for a while to know that this didn't happen very often, "a male dominated industry you, a male, are part of", Lewis teased, "yeah, that's not helping the situation either", George sighed. "Are you, George Russell, one of the most confident guys I have met, afraid of going up to her?", Lewis couldn't help but laugh, never did he think he would witness something like this, "If it helps in anything, I heard Toto invite her for the next race so maybe you'll get to talk to her then, oh look, there they come", he said as they both looked at Toto, Susie, John and you approaching them, "Hi, thank you so much for coming to the panel. It means a lot to everyone here, and Susie too", you smiled and George knew he was gone, just looking at you. "Hi, I'm Lewis, really good talk, I'm very interested in empowering women in motorsport, usually in the athletes side, but still, if you need anything I'd be happy to help", he said as he elbowed George, as he was rhe only one who hadn't properly introduced himself, "yeah, hello, I'm George Russell, good talk you had there, very important matter you guys talked about", and he felt everyone cringe as soon as the words left his mouth, being saved by someone calling your name, "sorry, I have to go. Again, it was very nice having you here and", you turned to Susie and Toto, "I think I'll take you on that offer", you said, "So you're joining us? Yes! Amazing, I'll email you the details", Susie said as you excused yourself. "Man, since when do you introduce yourself as 'George Russell'? I was trying so hard to not laugh at you just there", Lewis teased, "you really have to up your skills if you ever want her attention on you". Yeah, George thought so too.
When you arrived at the paddock, you couldn't help but feel all of the eyes on you, wondering who was this young woman arriving on her own with every pass possible for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, soon spotting Angela walking Roscoe, "Y/N, dear! Hi, how are you?", she said as she stopped for you to pet the dog, "Hi, I've been good. Definitely excited to be here, and you?", you said, feeling the buzz from all the garages rush to get the cars ready, "Back to work, running as usual, bye!", she said quickly as she felt the bulldog pull her so they could continue their walk.
As you walked in the garage, you saw Toto was talking to another tall, older man as he ushered you to come to him, "Y/N, This is Daniel, he is from the FIA, Daniel, this is Y/N, the student I was telling you about", Toto said as you shook the other man's hand, "like I said it won't be a problem" Daniel said before handing Toto some papers and making his way out of the garage, "Sorry Y/N, good morning, I forgot to tell you that we needed to disclose to the FIA if we had someone on the garage and although you're not out employee because we're not paying you and you're a guest, there are a lot of bad tongues in this paddock and it's best if they hear it from us", he explained knowing how some teams would try to bring your presence up if they figured what you were studying and use it against Mercedes just to bring the team down, "Good morning, don't worry, I understand. Again, thanks for having me here, I'm really excited!", you beamed looking at all the car parts the guys were assembling and all of the screens ready to be filled with graphs with the cars' performance. As you were talking with John about some of the latest developments on the project, George and Lewis arrived in the garage, greeting everyone. George had been on your mind since the conference, sure, you knew who he was and always thought he was a handsome man, but seeing him up close just confirmed your suspicions. But truth be told, you hadn't talked much to him and he didn't show any interest, maybe he didn't enjoy the talk, maybe he didn't understand where you came from, or maybe these were all evil thoughts from your head and he didn't have any opinion on it.
"Y/N, glad you could make it!", Lewis said as he hugged you, "we could use your help around here, all these guys have been needing some help and all", he teased, knowing fully well how everyone had been doing the best they could so the car could be in the top places, "I'm here to teach these guys some things, bring them back to their school days", you joined in the banter. George was next, embracing you as he greeted, "Morning Y/N, I'm very happy you're here, we all are", he sent a charming smile once you looked at eachother, "Hopefully we'll see you around", he said before someone called them for a meeting. Staying in the garage as they had their morning meetings and then heading to lunch, you sat in a table with the engineers, all of them wanting to learn about the project you were working on, which didn't go unnoticed by George, "She's all interested in whatever maths they're going on about, how am I supposed to talk to her? I barely now my multiples", he said ironically, feeling that if he didn't start using humour about this situation things would start to really get to him, "George, man, just go talk to her when she's free, we have loads of time around here, today's only Friday", Lewis tried to reason, "you didn't even stutter the last time you spoke to her, it's all good things from now on". When everyone got ready for the first session of free practice, things weren't going as well as they hoped, the car not performing how they hoped it would, and they continued until FP2, the guys getting to the garage and giving their take on how they felt in the car, the team brainstorming about ways to fix it until the next day

🍂 Fictober 2022 🍂 Taglist 🍂 Steve Harrington Masterlist 🍂
Tumblr media
It was rare but there were some days when you and Steve could just enjoy your company.
No kids would show up with problems.
No Upside Down related drama.
Just the two of you on a chilly October night.
You woke up feeling like you were on one of those lucky days, movie night with Steve would be looking more like a date and not like a big sleepover — don’t get it wrong, those were amazing and very funny with everyone’s presence, but sometimes you only wanted to lay down on the couch and cuddle with Steve while a terrible horror movie was on the screen and you had an excuse to kiss your boyfriend everytime he got scared — for someone so brave in real life he really got frightened by weird stuff on scary movies.
But you should know better than that, things were too peaceful at Hawkins during the last week and something would show up to mess up with your night.
And that something would be Dustin’s fight with Suzie.
You were already in your safe place, curled up against Steve as you focused on the movie, trying to predict the next jump your boyfriend would give. Until the doorbell rang and you both jumped because of it — in your defense you were not counting on real life noises to be a part of the night.
Opening the door you looked at a very sad Dustin, with a tinge of annoyance hiding behind his eyes too. The last one was so typical of him you didn’t even take note.
“Suzie broke up with me.” He announced, walking past you and throwing himself on the couch next to a very confused Steve Harrington.
You signed to your boyfriend, making him accompany you to the kitchen where the popcorn you were making was just ready. Pouring it on the nearest bowl you could find, you looked at Steve who was clearly worried about his little friend.
“What should we do?” Steve looked conflicted between the sad teenager sitting on your couch and the bowl of popcorn on your hand. Your eyes locked with his, silently saying what you had to do and already taking a few steps closer to the living room to give Dustin some of the popcorn. “No, anything but that.” He was quick to protest.
“Steve, did you look at his face?” You whispered. “I know he and Susie will figure things out in no time and he’ll be back to be his old self, but right now that kid needs you!”
“Hey! Don’t get all righteous with me now.” He stole the bowl from your hands. “I’m just saying we make more popcorn, because this was supposed to be a ‘special delivery to my love’ and I’m quoting your own words.” He punctuated the end of the sentence by throwing a bunch of popcorn in his mouth.
“All right, so you leave the special delivery here and go take this glass of water to him while I make more popcorn.” You traded the bowl for the water ignoring his pout and went back to your mission to make more popcorn.
Steve followed your instructions very well and soon you heard muffled words coming from the living room. He was so great with Dustin even if he wouldn’t admit how much he loved the kid.
“Hey, Y/n!” You heard Dustin call you. “I’m gonna need something stronger than this water, you know? It’s a critical situation.”
You laugh at how dramatic he was, but you remembered how things used to feel so heightened at that age. “I’m coming with popcorn and soda! Hope you’re up for something scary, kid. We’re doing the full not talking about relationships night…”
And in the end the “break up” was just a huge mistake and Suzie would call Dustin the next morning and explain everything to him. It didn’t matter you lost your date, because making Dustin smile in a moment like that really felt great and there would be a whole bunch of other nights.

Player 101
Sometimes, Kris finds themself thinking, Player is stupidly, stupidly powerful.
They're strong, they're omniscient; Kris doesn't doubt that, if they really wanted to, they could predict every enemy's move and skill. “patterns,” Player says. “the world has so many patterns, that when you notice them you will not be able to not see them.”
And god they saw them, patterns akin to strings in clothes: a warning, to where an attack will land. It's sewn into the universe, and Player can see the embroidery.
It's so cool. Really, it is! Especially, when they explain it, absolutely fascinated, about little boxes of red as a no-go zone. It's their special interest, so to speak, because they talk and talk about them like it's the most underappreciated and overlooked thing in the world. Which is probably true, because if Kris can't see them the way Player does, with Player themselves being a part of them to some extent, they doubt anyone else from here can either.
Player looks like a complete dork and far younger than they are when talking on that topic.
That doesn't mean, though, that it doesn't scare Kris every time when Player becomes… annoyed.
Honestly, Kris saw them like that only two times in their life.
One of them was Jevil, which is fair enough, considering how many times they needed to restart the fight over and over again. It was exhausting, to both of them, so Kris understands the annoyance. They still remember that very long ramble on how Jevil's attacks are such an ass to dodge, and how it gets so unfair over time, and how it needs to be 'pixel perfect', whatever the hell that's supposed to mean in this context, and-
(It was long. Very long. Kris was scared, because their sibling continued, with such strong opinions on Jevil, psychopathically going to his cage. They won't even call it 'determination', because that was a borderline obsession with winning that fight.
Kris learned that day that their sibling was a 'try-hard' kind of Player. It was objectively terrifying to watch, and even more so to learn that that wasn't even the sickest way people like them had fun.
* You are psychos.
“shush, you don't even know what we do for clout.”)
Spamton's fight, on the other hand, had been pushing them far harder. It almost made Player cross the thin line between just being pissed off, and being enraged.
Dare Kris say — it wasn't pretty.
("DO YOU SEE ME, [Heaven]!?" Spamton screeched, metal clanging against metal, strings snapping one by one, creating a horrific symphony.
Teeth grinding, Kris stood strong against the attacks, watching a majestic Player's dance, waving between the bullets occasionally sending their own. They got hit, they heard them, or Susie, or Ralsei's wordless grunt, and the yellow light shone brighter, near blinding.
Player moved in silence, absolutely mute, and in that silence their attacks grew relentlessly faster.
All Kris could really focus on was their burning anger. Hatred, even. It felt like a volcano eruption, and freezing cold at the same time. It left a taste of copper in Kris' mouth, soaking their mind in those feelings. Making them feel what They feel, think like They think, veins pumping with an elaborate desire to hurt, to kill, — almost, — and all Kris could think is-)
In that fight, they suddenly understood what Heaven truly meant. What that power can do.
Before, Ralsei told about Angel's Heaven, the exact thing that should be Banished per legend, as an eternal Entity. Powerful enough to destroy the world as it's known — from its core to shell, and every living being within. The Entity can control and twist, and change the wants and needs of people. Can switch the perspective to reveal unspeakable knowledge and drive the hardest mind insane.
And Player was that Entity.
It was rather… awkward, at a time, for several different reasons to hear Ralsei talk about them with such panic in his voice.
When Player switched perspective to watch over Susie, or was more forced to do so anyway in King's castle, Ralsei started to explain what they were. The bits and pieces, broken shards from different legends that somehow connected into one big puzzle, painting a weirdly horrific picture.
"It's powerful." He said, in between his highly running imagination. "Controlling and wild at the same time. It needs to be gone."
Kris merely blinked. Player just began to become their friend, if not a powerful ally and, perhaps, a family — what in the fresh hell was he on about?
(Now Kris knows: a lot, and even more than that.)
They asked Player about it after, as soon as Ralsei was distracted, and was greeted with a lot of explaining; stories of lives they'll never see or hear, the world's and universes they never existed in. Player also didn't pass the moment to brag, of course, about how they fought some demons almost barehanded, and won. It made Kris snort in amusement, maybe even several times, but soon enough Player began telling more, and that whimsical attitude quickly switched to something more… solem.
They couldn't go into more details at that moment, — the King still needed to be fought, after all, — so Kris hadn't heard some of the more bitter truths until later that day, when they asked Player to continue explaining.
The mood behind that chipper voice dropped significantly.
“it will be a lot to take in.” They said, warning palpable in that sentence.
However, it would take a lot more to deter Kris from begging, if needed, to know more. They both knew that already.
* I am ready. Whatever it is, I will... Try to accept.
Player was silent for a second, then huffed. “very well. but never say i didn't warn you.”
The dialogue that happened after was informative, in the way that Ralsei's vague words never would be able to recreate. The countless worlds saved, countless worlds destroyed, more than infinite waiting for such fate. People that never knew what was happening to them, people that did, and yet never been able to do anything about it. Monsters and deaths. Black and white, and gray that knitted the universes, that knitted the very thoughts of those they ruled above.
“i think we are born with this knowledge, you know? i know i instantly knew what i appeared for, even if i didn't understand what that implies.” They said, and Kris had a feeling if they had a body to call their own, Player would be sitting with their knees to their chest.
Maybe that's because they always mirrored Kris.
* And what did you come here for?
“i… don't know. i've got a word, if you can call it that, from an old friend. told me to help him with some experiment, make a body to suit myself, and then in a blink i was here.” They said, and something about their tone shifted. “you knew i was here.”
Kris furrowed their brows from the way it implied some untold truths.
* Is it a bad thing?
“not particularly, not- well, maybe. very likely, yes. i had yet to see the universe where it wasn't a bad thing, at least partially.”
They hummed, and it wasn't happy.
“it means that the world can break, and the cracks are already showing. that it's- it's kind of an inevitable fate, that something would threaten the very things that keep other things together and working. it's a big deal.”
Kris exhaled through their nose.
* …Oh.
Player snorted. “oh indeed.”
* And- and what do you do about this? The worlds like that, I mean. You said that there was, or is many more like mine with someone knowing stuff, so I'm a bit curious.
There was a second of silence.
“it is… going to sound very morbid, what i'm about to say, so bare with me.” They took a breath. “i do not like how it works, and i know a lot of people who aren't alright with it too. it's-” They made an uncertain noise. “we- we either salvage what is left, sometimes almost rebuilding it anew if we get the chance, or-” They let out a giggle, breathless and without humor. “or, well, help it collapse. finish what's started. i personally watched, helped a couple of those.”
Kris-
Kris felt… they don't exactly know what they felt.
Perhaps it could be called shock, or hollowness, or coldness from that statement. It was their emotion, the slight tilt of horror, but it was also... muted. It was under the rubble, so to speak, quiet and barely there. Fear, that should've come in pair with that, never even dared resurface its head, and pity hid in shadows. Rage and anger shimmered somewhere behind, almost fully consumed in the other noise.
They felt deep sorrow with a tint of despair that singlehandedly overpowered everything, and Kris was pretty sure it wasn't theirs.
“i- it destroyed the basis of those worlds, you know? awareness made them fragile. after the collapses i could no longer access them. it never happens in the universes that aren't aware, even if they crumble too. if- when i tried to come back to the unaware ones it almost looked like an infinite loop. they forget- people forget everything and make the same mistakes that leave the world on the hair breath from death. and yet- yet, no matter how they try, no matter how they want to, those worlds can never truly die.”
Kris harshly crumpled the sleeves of their sweater.
“the aware ones do, so i was- i was pretty scared to understand what it means here.”
Everything felt detached after that. They don't know how long they stared at their feet, accepting and reaccepting the information. At some point they even felt one of their hands slowly stroking the other, one of them out of their control. Kris heard Player softly humm.
“i told you it was a lot to take in.”
It was. It was more than Kris could process in such a small amount of time, but there's still one, for now, question that was yet to be answered:
* What about this world? Is-
There wasn't even a slight pause, question cut before it could be finished.
“no.” An instantaneous reply came. “don't even think about it — the answer is no. it's too unbreakable for that, and whatever made it a slightly bit more vulnerable for you and Ralsei to know didn't let it go near the worrisome level.” Player paused, unease seeping through the careful assurance. “unless- unless someone deliberately will try to force their access outside of the world, it's nothing that needs worry. plus, i am already here; and whoever would be bold enough to try will need to go through me first.”
Kris forced themselves to swallow. It all felt far too distant.
* That's- that's good. You're a tough opponent to fight.
Like it wasn't happening with them, or their world for that matter.
“yeah. i am, i can promise that much.”
Like it was just a weirdly detailed dream, and when Ralsei's words came to Kris' mind, they could only question why and how it's all connected the way it is. Player is their friend, bordering on closeness of a family, and despite them admitting to every horror the Darkener told Kris about, it felt like an elaborate lie. Cruel joke.
It all didn't stick together, with how attentive Player is to even the smallest of distresses, with how emotional they were over Susie's protective stance at the King's Castle, or Ralsei's vulnerability showing. They aren't some otherworldly being that can easily tilt the fate of the universe, forcing it to end, or a manipulative entity with a sickening taste for fresh blood.
Back then, they thought it just can't exist in the same person. Not without one bleeding into another, and they hadn't noticed such things.
But Kris knows better, now.
They know from the way Player was almost spitting venom when Spamton dared to mention something about tearing them out of Kris' chest. The anger still persisted when he was defeated, when he was nothing more than a trinket to hold onto in their pocket.
They know from the way Player sometimes goes away, — always telling Kris about it beforehand, — and come back colder. Quieter. Sharper. It goes away with time and some playful nudging, but it happens, and nothing Kris did had prevented it so far.
They know, because sometimes they look for Noelle. When they find her, happy and content with her father or chatting cheerfully with others, the first thing Kris feels from them is hatred. They are perfectly aware it's not for her, or the ones she's talking to, or for Kris themselves, but it still makes them flinch, or shudder. Or both.
Kris does know better, and it's… terrifyingly sad to know. To understand, to really get it.
Player has the patience of a saint, and knowing they are a religious being here, it might even be a funny thing to say. Still, to endure so much and not snap at any convenient opportunity? Miracle, no less. Taking into consideration that Player also capped themselves at the age of a teenager, which is quite famous for the most explosive reactions and emotions ever, its wonder of a statistic skyrocketed into space.
(“i have godlike powers and psychological issues about that!”
* One day I will ensure your way into the therapy room.
“well, well, Iid like to see you try; you'll never find any therapist that willingly would try to tackle my problems!”
* I will become that therapist, don't tempt me.)
Yet it's- well, still sad.
Player is omniscient and powerful. They see too much, know too much. Kris is unsure how much is 'too much' for a normal teen, as they personally hadn't been living normally in the way human children do, but it's way more vivid in the attitude Player displays in some situations.
They freeze when some topic flies too close for their comfort. As much as they are patient with the problems of others, it drops to near zero if someone is even mildly threatening the way they don't like — a knee-jerk reaction almost. They are sometimes closed up in a shell, never telling if something's wrong unless pressed, and seem tired from the way they are worshiped as a savior.
Like it was all they were seen as for a long time.
Player is powerful, and it's scary how specifically powerful they are, with the way they got experience of different fights from their adventures. They don't necessarily need help, they can do a lot of things alone, and isn't that even a slight bit terrifying to know? That they have every ability and knowledge and drive to conquer everything, destroy everything, and what they lack they could astonishingly quickly learn? That they could manipulate the very basis of things, grow their charm with all they knew, to get what they want?
Kris can understand Ralsei with his wariness on that; if they hadn't interacted with Player and only heard some unspecific bullshit, they'd be scared too.
But they did.
They knew better now, and if Player did use such 'dirty tricks' to achieve Kris' loyalty, then, well, maybe they deserve it. Maybe they deserve to have yet another soul that considers them their family.
Kris' answer is that it can't be that bad.
---
My general hc for players in selfaware and not games is that they just drift around from one game from another. They kinda- appear without even a poof soundeffect and go on their merry way with everything they need to know to begin their journey
They know how to access the world and how to look for clues or where to seek help and all that. Every other skills, such as social and physical development is still tied to their 'age' and firsthand experience, but they instantly knows how to like. Eat. Read. Talk. Walk — just basic stuff that other still need to learn while they're young; plus added stuff like how they can go to different game and how to use inventory, but the last one is still more codependent on the world they currently in- cuz you can't use some shooter's arsenal the way you use sandbox weapons, just how you can't use rouglike trinkets the same way in simulators
Im making players a magical ageless race. So what? They really are in the eyes of anyone outside of their species i can do whatever i want about it. You can't fucking stop me
