(I'm whispering so the wrong crowd doesn't hear me) with acknowledgement towards how much I love Cassandra and everything she represents for Kristen, I have always been at least a little stuck to the idea of her sticking it out with Helio; of a Kristen who changes her god for the better and proves to her parents that a good god, one who is loving and kind and powerful, would hate to know there were cults and hatecrimes and murders being committed in his name.

do you ever think about how Kristen's crisis of faith in helio was triggered not only by her meeting helio at the gates and him sucking ass, but also how she died being his chosen one and when she let aguefort usurp his power she lived? how she would have realised that the man who brought her back to life wasn't her god but just someone who thought she and her friends were cool? do you think about Bobby Dawn talking about how it was her path but all clerics of helio are watched over by an uncaring frat bro who lets them die? do you think about the corn cuties and ooze killing her, literally the symbol of her faith destroying her? do you think about how she brought herself back from the dead and made her own god forged from her doubt so that anyone forced into her position could seek solace in the cool hands of questioning everything?

Literally in the first episode of Fantasy High, I watched an arguement that I had several times with my conservative uncles. It boils down to “According to the main message of your faith, our Divinity accepts everyone who is good of heart and kind - hating people for any reason is antithetical.” Kristen was arguing positive points using her faith as a guide
Which like - im not a christian or religious anymore (raised southern baptists and decided that if God exists he’s cruel) but the immediate writing off of everyone who’s part of a Main Stream Religion as Problematic really pisses me off, ya know?
Like sure, Wolfsong has waterslides and snowball fight and a lot of entertainement during a major holiday and then everyone is trying to figure out how they’re evil ehen they’re just having fun. Hey, my former church (Prestonwood Baptist Church and Benttree Community church in Dallas Texas) i have met so may deeply devout and scripture oriented people who are so incredibly loving and giving that they are leagues above anyone else I know, and for Good Friday they still had a wayer slide cause that shit is fun. Some of the most hateful people I know ALSO use religion as an excuse.
I get that organized Religion can house a lot of hate and evil (im writing my thesis on American Fascism and evangelical faith is a big part) but so many people who are Religious are just good people? Like the basic morals of the Torah+Talmund, the Bible and the Qur’an are really positive? Half the catholic church is socialist?
It just speaks to the religious illiteracy in America. Helio isn’t bad - the racist worshippers who through ‘as above so below’ influence their god ARE bad. Brennan says the Harvestmen are a fringe Minority - newsflash, the KKK is a christian group and the majority of christians reject them and find their message to be a spit in the face to Jesus. Why would it be different in Fantasy High if its supposed to be a commentary? I think Helio chose Kristen because he wanted her to free him from the racist status quo (he was giving her spells for all of freshman year supporting her against Sol up until Spring break if not beyond)

The funniest thing about the Buddy scene is knowing that him talking to the Applebees would have actually made things worse.
His art reads as Mormon, the Applebees read as mainline evangelical. Evangelicals view Mormons as a non-Christian cult. So while Buddy is technically in the same broad Helioic religion, the Applebees would think he’s also going to hell.

It wasn't until ep 11 that I realized how fucked things must be for Helio and Sol
First Cassandra comes back, sister of Galicaea, a god they used to have dealings with but was long forgotten
Then it's night for 3 months and many of their congregation feel uneasy and lose faith
And while that's going on some werewolf teen is changing the worship of Galicaea, a long time confidant (and conspirator????) of Helio and Sol. And as we know, as above so below, so Galicaea is probably going through some changes
Now this other fiery summer god, who Sol once married off to Galicaea's sister, is back or trying to come back infringing on the status quo and reinstating a competing divine domain
And to add insult to injury the major catalyst to all these events was Helio's chosen one losing faith and creating her own
That's not even including the shady conspiratorial things that were probably going on between the surviving gods. Tough luck, man

is there some type of tradition for men's names in helioc culture to start with the letter B because so far some of the helioc men we know are Bucky, Bricker, Buddy, and Bobby

Average party with the Bad Kids and Buddy Dawn

guys. so we know buddy swore an oath or whatever that makes sure that he's actually willing to bring the bad kids from the dead right ? however. kristen did have a conversation with him in which he admitted that if any harm comes from him to his enemies, it will be THROUGH him and he will not consider it to be his personal responsability. so what that tells me is if Helio refuses to raise the bad kids, Buddy will still be respecting his oath. now do you sincerely think it's in Helio's interest to not let his former chosen one and her friends die ??
Kristen pretending to be back in Helio's path may well have just saved her life.

let buddy dawn keep helio, let him pray to the god he believes in, let him find comfort in the thing he knows; let him change his god if thats what it takes. tracker could do it, why not a boy who needs something to believe in?

i saw another post about hoping that Buddy Dawn, having been betrayed and murdered by his own team, meets Helio in the afterlife and becomes hopelessly disillusioned with him before being resurrected by Kristen, and they can bond over how much Helio sucks. And I genuinely love that. But I also have this "Yes And" idea...
I hope all that happens. And then I hope Buddy Dawn becomes for Helio what Tracker is for Galicaea.
I hope Buddy gets to say "I see how you, the being that I worship, have been twisted by your own worshipers. I see how, despite my good intentions, I and my family and my church have all done that. And I will do my best to fix this, because not only do I deserve a better god, but you deserve to be one. You are the god of a grain crop. Corn is not wrathful. Corn does not judge. Corn is abundant, as should be your love."
Buddy may deserve better. Helio may not deserve his faith.
But who was Helio before he was this?

I know it would be amazing if Buddy had a crisis of faith by meeting Helio but I kinda think it's funnier if he gets revived and is just like "heaven was great and Helio was a lot more chill than I expected, what do you mean my teammate slit my throat"

Good morning I have religious trauma and Kristen Applebees is a character
So you know when Kristen meets up with her parents and the conversation is so tense and they can barely look at their daughter because she doesn't believe in the god they raised her with but they're trying to be nice for the same reason she is. "you catch more bees with honey" and then she says it. "Can I come to church"
And they soften, and they look at her with hope. Like maybe she could be their daughter again.
And I wonder if Kristen felt the way I did in that moment
A little bit like they did care
Like they do love her
Like they just didn't understand and weren't ready to give up something
Like they just fumbled a little but they did love her and want her
Like all this talk of people controlling the way their gods worked and what they want
Maybe Helio isn't so bad
Maybe she could change him
What if when Mac grabs her brother's hand so hard and severs the connection they keep almost having if not for their parents what if that hope that she saw in her parents eyes, that had welled in her chest just snapped. Fizzled away into dust and she knew then she would never be their daughter no matter how she looked or who she worshipped
What if it almost happened again? What if she went into Bobby Dawn's office with tears that were not quite as fake as she'd like them to be
She can't fail. She worked so hard. She loves her god. Her friend needs her. She can't be godless this is all that she is, all she ever was. She needs this class
Maybe the love and the light they used to speak of in church is real
Maybe it was there in Bobby somewhere
Maybe if she convinced him she could stay
Maybe if she just followed Helio life would be easier
What if the prayer felt a little too safe, a little too real
What if her parents were right
Helio's chosen one brings back the day!
And just when she's about to let it settle "you're still expelled"
Right. Helio will always disappoint her. She should've known.

Am I like dumb or does it seem like everyone keeps forgetting what helio is a god of?? Like, he's not the god of the sun, that's Sol, he's the god of corn. He's a useless frat boy and hes the god of corn. Is it not lowkey starting to feel like everyone, in the dome and out of it, seems to keep saying Helio is a sun god? I get it because his name is Helio which means sun and "heliocentric" means going around the sun, but it's gotten to the point where I'm genuinely wondering if they retconned it so that he was more of a sun god? Because the whole thing about the Applebees family and the dark summer and people leaving the church like- that would make sense if it was sol but helio?? Or does everyone who worships helio worship sol in kind of like a trickle-down way? Im very confused and the terrible machine I have for a brain keeps nagging me about this, can anyone tell me if I'm being foolish?
