Unreasonably Shady in Thailand
Tumblr media
Are Porsha Williams and Gizelle Bryant being unreasonable with Candiace Dillard Bassett? Or is she the one who’s being unreasonable?
As Leah McSweeney pointed out earlier, there’s a lot of tag teams on this trip and she’s the only one on her own.
But Candiace then confronted Porsha about taking Monique Samuels’ side after the altercation on RHOP, and Porsha’s response is just what you would expect it to be.
She proclaimed that she had simply repeated her friend’s facts.
Well, they weren’t exactly facts, were they, Porsha? One would think that she had learned from her mistakes.
What’s tricky is that I understand where both Candiace and Gizelle comes from.
Candiace wanted her statement present at the Chatroom, while Gizelle claimed that she had her support in that moment.
But Gizelle was crass for just dismissing Candiace’s feelings.
So, now Gizelle and Porsha have more reason to be annoyed with Candiace.
I’ve got to say that New Orleans is the best part about Gizelle, for me though.
It makes her way more interesting and exciting. Which makes me wish that she would just be herself and stop producing so much on RHOP.
Show us your life, and I can guaranty you that I will like you more!
Speaking of liking, the stocks on the cousins from Utah dropped drastically in this episode.
Even Porsha called Heather Gay “a bad liar, not a bad Mormon”.
This rollercoaster ride of a friendship is driving me crazy. And it’s starting to bug the other women too.
Porsha hosted a scorpion twist on Truth or Dare, and she asked Whitney Rose to name 3 times Heather had lied.
Whitney chose to rather eat the scorpion as a sign of moving on. But at the end of the episode, while drunk in the confessional booth, she named them!
Heather knows how she got the black eye. She was never friends with Lisa Barlow. And she never left the Mormon Church.
The issues between Heather and Whitney might never be resolved, and at this point I’m wondering if they are reasonably shady, or just unreasonable?

Profiles in Villainy
Spydra
A mean, rude, disrespectful, selfish and arrogant megalomaniac, Spydra will do anything to achieve her goal of conquering the world.  Aided by a flock of witless goons and henchmen, Spydra concocts intricate schemes that are always foiled by the young Gadget Boy and his Interpol agent ally, Heather.
The villainess’ origins remain a mystery and it is unknown if her multiple appendages are a mutation, the product of her being of a different species, or merely automated prosthetics.  She keeps her face hidden behind a mask and claims that she is quite beautiful; although it is rumored that her visage is so ghastly as to have the effect of turning anyone who sees it to stone.
Actress Monique Thierry provides the voice for Spydra in the original French language series (with Louise Vallance voicing he character in the English language dub).  The villainess first appeared in the debut episode of Gadget Boy and Heather, airing on September 9th, 1995.

Opening Pandora’s Box in Thailand
Tumblr media
“Eight Housewives in a foreign country, what can go wrong?” Leah McSweeney asked.
Well, one thing is for certain:
There’s a clear difference between seasoned housewives and rookies. And the cousins from Utah are still rookies.
And Gizelle Bryant, a messy gossiper who loves to stir the pot, opened Pandora’s Box on the first day – before lunch – in Thailand!
All the evil in the world was unleashed from that box. But will there be a little bit of hope too?
Gizelle orchestrated a best and worst impression game with the girls, and it’s still unknown if this little game broke the ice or started some friction.
Heather Gay did not make a good first impression, because she’s obviously a fan and wants to be liked by her idols, but she got caught being two-faced.
Heather quickly found herself on the hot seat and she deserved it. In one moment she talked about Leah’s sobriety, the next she wants to get her drunk.
That’s fucked up.
Heather actually has a lot to answer for at these women are seasoned housewives who knows how to hold someone accountable.
But oh my God, I can’t stand another confusing round of Heather and Whitney Rose’s argument. And the women caught on quickly too.
“We need to table this shit.” They quickly learned that addressing the cousins’ feud was a mistake and like entering a black whole.
I don’t believe Heather when it comes to the Lisa Barlow rumours. But that’s what I learned in season 3 of RHOSLC:
Heather lies and she’s two-faced.
Because what does Heather do when she gets called out on her bullshit? She claims that she doesn’t remember it.
Whitney finally got to prove that, with the help of Leah.
But during Gizelle little instigation game, there were some frictions starting between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Porsha Williams.
Porsha acted like she didn’t understand why there were danger of beef between her and Candiace, and I can name one name that would explain that:
Monique Samuels.
And if they weren’t saved by a bug, that dinner could’ve ended very differently.

Oh my god, did you see the HSM demonises femininity video. The author sayd that because Sharpay is the villain and she wears pink and is girly, this is clearly demonising girliness. And all the comments were whining about how oppressed they were for liking Sharpay (I promise they weren't, I was 9 when HSM came out, Sharpay was EVERYONE'S favourite.
The author also rebutted my comment that Gabriella and Taylor are also girly af by saying they don't wear pink (they do, and Sharpay doesn't only wear pink either) and that Taylor isnt as girly because she I WISH I WAS MAKING THIS UP wears a lot of headbands. Never mind Monique Colman had to wear those because the hair dep, didn't know how to style black hair and just gave her shit wigs.
And i like Sharpay, she's a fun character. But she's not the villain because she's feminine. She's the villain because she's a bully (Kelsi) , Stalker (Troy) and sabotaged in every film, including to her own brother.
Sorry for the rant this has been making me angry for years
As it happens, I'm trying to put a moratorium on watching video essays I know will only aggravate me, especially the spate of several about ~demonizing femininity~ after a certain one about the non-issue of "nlog" in period pieces melted what braincells 2023 has spared as I spent my finite minutes on this earth watching a woman I'm pretty sure would've called me slurs in high school shriek barely-disguised reactionary garbage for forty minutes or so over the existence of masculine presentation because the consequence of a decade of ~choice feminism~ is women who think the central struggle for gender equality is no one being allowed to criticize their fantasies unquestioning adherence to gender expectations but couch it in progressive lingo. See: the morons who threw a tantrum over Rachel Zegler saying Snow White's story evolves beyond being rescued by a prince because women's narratives were limited in the 30s compared to now (a completely anodyne and accurate statement that created a harrasment campaign horseshoe between racist alt-right chuds and liberal feminists because god forbid you question the potent feminism of their dollies). See also: the pathetic whining about a lack of heterosexual romance or an extremely conventionally feminine, thin and usually white female character wearing pants. However, I fully welcome the opportunity to rant about it lol, because I feel very strongly that "unapologetic femininity" is one of the biggest jokes/psyops/reactionary disguised as progressive movements so long as it refers to people of whom society demands femininity as a performance (chiefly, cis women - there are actually people discouraged/disallowed by cisheteronormative patriarchal society from being feminine, and for whom that phrase actually means something lol). I constantly say this as a super feminine queer woman (literally, my room and most of my clothes are pink, frilly, and floral): femininity is derided, but it is also imposed.
I was never that into High School Musical even as a kid, but the fact that a conventionally feminine character is treated by 'masculine' by these dummies because she isn't hyperfeminine is utterly unsurprising. 'NLOG' as a whole might have started as a critique of female characters who fit a certain male fantasy of internalizing misogyny and catering to certain ideals of being low-maintenance, but at this point as I've previously said, it's being used in place of homophobic slurs for girls and women, both real and fictional, who aren't hyperfeminine, who don't prioritize male attention, or who simply, for one reason or another, feel alienated from 'proper' girlhood/womanhood. The 'mean girl' bully stereotype exists, be it in HSM, Heathers, Mean Girls, or what have you, for a reason. Bullying frequently occurs along the lines of failing at performing your assigned gender 'correctly'. Just as male bullies in media frequently pick their targets due to perceived failures of masculinity, perceived failures of femininity are an extremely common justification for social ostracism and punishment, because that's how gender conformity is socially enforced. This overlaps with these ideals being based in concepts of class, race, and homophobia/transphobia etc, which are simply other facets of the hierarchy. The "demonized femininity" boogeyman we've seen discussed in the last few years genuinely feels like a conservative psyop of some kind if I didn't see so many people otherwise fall for it hook, line, and sinker, because the presupposition that gender nonconformity is rewarded - particularly in the wake of the recent spate of extreme transphobic and homophobic backlash - is laughable.
