Being Charlie Springs Sibling Would Include

A/N In celebration of Heartsopper season two I thought why not write all the heartstopper requests I haven’t done yet, so here we go

So whatever gender you have obviously decides what school you go to

I also believe you’d be older than Charlie, he’d definitely be the youngest

Really supportive of Charlie, even more so when he was outed and started to get bullied, if you go to the same school you’d definitely come to Charlie’s rescue and defend him (a bit harder to do if you aren’t in the same school)

Teaming up with Tori to comfort and protect your brother

if you aren’t or if you are going to the same school doesn’t matter either way you’d always comfort him at home

Knowing about his self harm, and the fact he doesn’t eat much, which you try to help with as much as you can

Comforting hugs

Movie marathon

Being friends with his friends, because they are genuinely good people and support him like you do.

When he got his crush on Nick you would tease him most days, and he would be stood blushing in his room with a smile on his face

If you’re part of lgbtq+ then he and the rest of your family would be supportive of you too

When he got together with Nick you’d be a bit protective first knowing about Ben before, but as soon as you see that Nick is a good guy the two of you become friends, and you share memories of Charlie to Nick.

Whenever Charlie goes to a party if you don’t come with him you make sure he has someone with him that will look out for him, because he doesn’t do too well in public spaces

Charlie, when I think of him I can’t stop thinking that he talks more to his siblings or friends about his problems so I imagine he’d go to you a lot of times if something was troubling him

A lot of gossip about Nick, like a lot, Charlie can’t stop talking about him

Omg imagine you were also at that dinner party with Nick’s family, you would definitely stand up for Nick, to Charlie’s surprise and which would also make him really happy <3

Omg imagine when Charlie was a child and got nightmares and he would go into your room to cuddle with you, and you’d let him everytime, even to this day (my little brother does this instead of going to our parents, it’s so cute)

what are your gut feelings about canon byler in season 5?

oooooof okay these are my gut feelings, not getting into analysis so much as just speculating for funsies:

i'm very much expecting a return to mike's pov and us getting more understanding of his headspace and character, and i kind of think the development of byler hinges on that

like every other byler, i expect the painting to be crucial to byler getting together. (i have a messy draft of an analysis of the painting and how it parallels to benverly and the poem in it chapter 2 and how that informs my expectations of the painting's role in s5. i will... get around to finishing that at some point.)

as much as i'd love to see established byler, i doubt we will see them get together before the third act of the season, probably in the last 2-3 episodes. we might see a flash-forward epilogue at the end where we see them as an established couple, but that's as optimistic as i can get on that front.

that said, i do think their first kiss will be show-stoppingly awesome, and i do think they will have some delightful moments of romantic relationship development throughout the season. i'm not expecting heartstopper vibes or anything, but a few good moments like jancy and lumax have had (or any of the byler heart to hearts in s4, for that matter.)

as far as popular theories, i most subscribe to lettergate (mike has one or more unsent letters to will, signed, love mike) and birthdaygate (everyone forgot will's birthday on the day of rinkomania, it's not just a production error, and will be plot relevant)

i don't think we'll see full-blown evil will but i do think we'll see him tempted to the dark side in a classic luke skywalker kind of way, where ultimately his love of his friends will keep him grounded and make him not just paralleled to henry but a proper foil.

last: i need mike wheeler to cry and have a breakdown :))))) this is very important to me.

Thoughts on Heartstopper Season 2!

🛑🛑 SPOILERS AHEAD 🛑🛑

I really liked the way they switched events around but still incorporated all the main events / convos / quotes!! Like Ben asking for an apology, but instead of doing it at Tara's Bday party, they had Harry try to come in & get rejected & gave Ben's moment more depth and gave Charlie a more specific speech to be like "no, I don't forgive you, and I don't want you in my life. GTFO"

I absolutely loved every single one of Elle's outfits. And the dynamic between Elle & Tao developing their relationship! And I really really liked that we got more Tao backstory. His interactions with his mom, his heart to hearts with Nick (esp about his dad & relationship insecurities; we love a self aware king), his awkward first date with Elle at the theater

I liked Elle having more trans and non-binary friends!! And her art school journey!! Yes, give me more insight into each character's world

Naomi & Felix were iconic and I hope to see more of them! I liked that their presence also drew out Tao's insecurities and forced him to confront them. Like at the art show!!

I of course loved more focus on Tara & Darcy! I'm glad it wasn't just "Darcy is afraid to say I love you :/" and more was revealed about her homophobic parents and toxic home life! And oh my god the moment of Tara walking up to Darcy's house to check on her and meeting her mom for the first time had me SCARED. I was literally hiding behind my partner’s shoulder

I think the pacing still felt really good. And even though I knew what path the story was headed, it still felt natural when they switched things up. They maintained faithful to the original narrative while effectively adapting it to a TV show format, which is honestly SUPER impressive

And I am glad they kept in Charlie's mental health!! I think all the small switches they made really draw attention to how difficult it can be to notice an ED, anxiety, OCD, etc in someone else, even a partner. And they found good ways to express that anxiety with different conflicts and situations

IMOGEN. That girl is so bisexual. I called it last season. The vibes. The hair dye. The insistence on being "an ally." And she's totally falling for Sahar and I am HERE FOR IT.

ISSAC. I really really liked his whole arc with James. Asking Charlie how he knew he had a crush on Nick, relating to most of it, testing the waters with a kiss, and then being confused. Taking to the aroace artist at Elle's exhibition. Going back to that oh so centrally placed Ace book from earlier in the season & happily skipping off with it. I am so happy for him

TORI. Iconic, truly. Love all of her appearance and threats to people who could hurt Charlie. THE PHONE KICK SCENE, AHH. I really hope season 3 gets some sprinkles from Solitaire. They kinda hinted at some stuff to come by calling attention to Ben switching to Highs instead of staying at Truham. But I cannot wait for Michael to be introduced and the chaos to ensue.

The script: PERFECTION / 10

Please please please go watch or read Heartstopper. Better yet, do both.

Finished my binge watch of Heartstopper season 2 and I’m crying! (Good tears) So beautiful!!! Season 2 really built on season 1 with richer, more fleshed out storylines for these beloved characters. So much queer love! 👏🏼👏🏼😍😍❤️❤️ Ah, the way they look at each other -it’s insane! So many truly beautiful moments, so many hugs, so many kisses! Goddamn it, I already need season 3!

THIS STILL FROM SEASON 2 IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE IMOHAR MOMENTS AND NOBODY EVER MENTIONS IT

- the way Sahar is looking at Ben after Imogen has just confronted him???!!!! so ‘fall in love with a girl’ by Cavetown coded!!

“That boy, let him go

Lights are on, but no one's home

Enough's enough, find your pearl

And fall in love with a girl”

- COLOUR! Of course, we all obviously know the significance of this in heartstopper

Sahar is wearing white and orange and Imogen is wearing predominantly light and dark pink- these colours all correlate with the lesbian flag. It could perhaps be a hint towards Imogen discovering her lesbianism in season 3.

- this is also Sahar and Imogen’s first major scene together, during/after Imogen’s breaking up with Ben.

This is interesting as we discover in Season 2 Episode 6 at Tara’s birthday party that Sahar and Imogen stopped being friends the previous year due to Imogen getting a boyfriend, so her breaking up with her boyfriend here ( with Sahar sitting beside her!!) feels very full-circle and perhaps symbolises a new beginning for Imogen, and her relationship with Sahar ( comphet discovery and self-acceptance?)

- it also seems to be implied here that Sahar and Imogen still aren’t exactly friends so Sahar appearing so disgruntled is something I found interesting!

In her ‘Permanent Rain Press’ interview, Leila Khan spoke about how she believes that Imogen and Sahar’s falling out was due to Sahar feeling that Imogen was being dishonest with her. However, in this scene, Imogen speaks to Ben truthfully for the first time and actually advocates for herself. Sahar is an outspoken, confident individual. So her seeing this quality within Imogen when she struggled to see it before implies that this is the beginning of the mending of their relationship with one another, which is also evidenced within various scenes throughout the remainder of the season.

This probably doesn’t make any sense/ is incorrect but they are my current hyperfixation and I had to information dump about it somewhere as I’ve analysed their scenes together way too much. And of course, if anyone else has ideas, please do comment them! :)

The way episode 7 is called 'Sorry' and may possibly mirror episode 7 of season 1 in terms of tone. But then it is followed by an episode called 'Perfect'.

Like I am so ready for this show to break my heart, then mend my heart and leave it all light and joyful ready for the wait for season 3.

If there is one thing I absolutely love about Heartstopper, it is that even through all the hard/ dark times there is still so much joy and happiness. Even if some people find that unrealistic, I absolutely love it. Bring on season 2. That preview has made me ready for the heartbreak followed by the heart healing.

just rereading volume 3 so here’s a list of small and/or underrated scenes and dialogues i *need* to see in heartstopper season 2, in chronological order:

- coach singh walking in on charlie and nick kissing

- coach singh showing nick the picture of her and her wife

- mr farouk shutting up the whole student body by yelling “quiet” + mr ajayi’s stunned reaction, on multiple occasions

- darcy’s “oh. you’re being gay. good job, carry on”

- tao getting flustered over elle seeing him in his pyjamas

- the teachers’ “i need a drink. an alcoholic drink” “we probably shouldn’t drink alcohol” “a croissant then”

- darcy getting a “i <3 paris” hoodie

- the deep conversation between tara and charlie while everyone else goes to get ice cream

- the teachers’ whole conversation right after that, about mr farouk not having a queer romance like that in his teenage years (especially given how many heartstopper fans have been melancholic and saying that about themselves!)

- darcy in a party hat at tara’s birthday party

- charlie walking in on tao and elle kissing in the bathroom (although it would be peak comedy if they gave this scene to isaac ngl)

- charlie to nick “i’m not a human heater like you”

- and finally charlie’s rant to harry “what do you want from us? forgiveness? ‘well done’? you said all that homophobic stuff but it’s okay because you’re sorry? i’m glad you realised the error of your ways but it’s not my job to give you a gold star.”

Heartstopper season 2 play-by-play analysis

It can’t be over! It can’t be! How long will it be before my next dose of serotonin? Although rewatching helps, absolutely, but my god, that cliffhanger! Those last moments of the episode just leave you yearning for more. More Paris Squad, more in-depth looks into their individual stories, more Nick & Charlie, more more MORE!

I’m glad that Alice Oseman is already hard at work on the season 3 script. I hope they’re as inspired as ever.

EPISODE 8 - PERFECT

- Baby Queen’s “Colours of you” makes an appearance/comeback. I don’t know, but I feel like a lot of people said that it was about how Nick makes Charlie feel, how his world is black and white until Nick comes into his life (I don’t know if maybe Baby Queen said that), but to me it was always more the other way around: that Nick’s life was very black and white until he met Charlie, because not only did he realize he liked Charlie, but he also realized this whole other part of himself, in the form of the colors of the rainbow (queer pride).

- Comments to Nick’s post coming out as bi are a a mix of joyful and shocked but a few awful people just taking up space too.

- Charlie saying that his life is perfect right now and that everything’s perfect, whilst Nick knows it’s not, because Charlie still has an eating disorder, and he doesn’t know what to do about it.

- “Do you want to be my girlfriend?” “Is that a serious question?” Love them.

- Tara and Sahar, I hope you’ve learned your lesson: never ever take part in an organization committee.

- I was weirded out by the fact that they included prom in the show, since I thought there was no high school prom in the UK. It just seems like such an American/gringo thing (we have prom in my country, but it’s nothing like the gringo prom… mine was so weird and lame). But it turns out that they do have it in the UK now, likely made popular by all the classic teen dramas and rom coms that take place in high schools from the United States. But since it wasn’t in the comic either, I still thought it was a strange addition at first. However, the whole group dynamic made it work.

- Coach Singh coaxing Mr Ajayi to text Mr Farouk… that whole interaction was so precious…

- People just openly coming up to Nick and Charlie to ask if it’s true that they’re dating. Children, it’s none of your business, you don’t even know them…

- The conversation between Tao and Nick, Tao’s face as Nick mentions that Charlie is still affected by the bullying… poor Tao, he really didn’t mean for that to happen, that’s why he’s so protective of Charlie. And Nick’s face when Tao mentions his dad dying, like he’s really surprised that Tao is opening up to him. “Didn’t know about your dad…” “Don’t be weird about it.” “I’ll try.” “Good.”

- And their faces when they both realize that neither knows how bad the bullying was, because Charlie hasn’t opened up to either of them completely about it.

- And Nick and Charlie both looking so handsome in their suits, and being so gaga for each other. “I can’t believe you’re my boyfriend…” “You look… sooo… goooood! YOU LOOK SOOOO GOOD!” My favorite thing about this new season is that I’ve lost count of how many times Nick can’t resist the urge to pick up Charlie. I’m making a montage.

- “And a big public appearance as a couple… that’s definitely what we want?” Nick knows how much the attention might overwhelm Charlie. But Charlie’s not thinking about that, he’s trying to focus on the good part, the fact that he has an amazing boyfriend, that they can be together without hiding now.

- Darcy watching sourly as a mother picks up and comforts her small child, indicating that her bad relationship with her mother is not a new thing, her mother has never been nurturing or comforting or loving. And of course, how is Darcy supposed to know how to love someone if she has never been shown love in her entire life?

- Best scene ever: Elle’s dad being a ten feet tall burly man, pretending to be intimidating but then laughing it off. Will Gao’s awkward nervous laugh sends me.

- His reaction to Elle’s whole look. “You look… you… you’re so… Hello…” He’s so smitten.

- Seriously, Tao and Elle being the hottest, most stylish couple at the prom. Tara’s dress, though, is my absolute favorite.

- Tao and Elle being silly and cute for photos, and the four original friends taking a cheesy studio photo together. Love them.

- “I can’t believe Nick’s showing off his boyfriend, but none of you managed to bring a girl!” How does Harry manage to say something ‘nice’ and still make it sound like bullying? AAAND you didn’t bring a girl either, Harry, so what’s your deal??? He’s just loudly seeking attention. Where’s Tao when you need him to shut Harry down with a snarky comeback??

- The boys teasing Nick about being the first one in a relationship, like it’s no big deal. But my favorite was Christian going “I could get a girlfriend, how about Tara Jones?” Awww, has he genuinely liked Tara this whole time, or was she the first one that came to his mind? (I think he genuinely didn’t remember she’s a lesbian).

- Tara’s “How do you talk to someone about something they don’t want to talk about?” And Nick realizing that that’s what’s happening with Charlie. “Maybe you just have to try, even if it doesn’t work”. They both have to go for it. I love their friendship.

- Baby Queen‼!

- The dance routine, Elle and Tao living their best movie sequence.

- The little neon butterflies as Elle tells Tao she wants to go to Lambert, and he tells her that he knows. Yes he knows, and he knows that it will make him happy to see Elle happy, even if that means letting her go. He has to overcome his fear of abandonment. He’s not being abandoned, they’re just growing up.

- THE ACE BOOK. Give it to mee‼! Isaac is looking for an identity. And I love that it cuts to James enjoying himself too, and Tori being content by herself at a table. I hope we get more of Tori’s story in future Heartstopper seasons (and the comic too).

- And the teachers are going on an actual date!

- I don’t know what that meant, Imogen getting sort of misty-eyed looking up at Sahar playing. Maybe she’s realizing that she might have feelings for her, but my interpretation is that, since Imogen claimed that she needed to focus on herself, and since the whole season she has seemed pretty lonely, and we find out that she and Sahar used to be friends until Imogen got a boyfriend and they stopped talking to each other (regardless of who stopped first), and because Sahar revealed that she was bi and Imogen got caught unawares and thought maybe she should have known that, that Imogen’s reaction was more of a wanting to rekindle that friendship. As we saw with Tao and Charlie, and maybe now even Nick and Tao, friendships and platonic relationships are given the same importance in Heartstopper as romantic ones. Not all stares mean romance. And Imogen is looking for friends right now. (Although if it does lead to romance, I wouldn’t be mad about it… and who can deny the Lesbian Lighting??? Maybe Imogen IS into girls after all…) “Youuu, soft and lonely…”

- Isaac getting his heartstopper moment when he holds the book to his chest. YES ISAAC!

- Charlie asserting himself and asking Nick if they can leave, because he’s tired and uncomfortable of people staring and pointing. Everyone’s been so nice to their face about them coming out as a couple, but that doesn’t mean that Charlie’s not going to be worried about someone saying something nasty to either him or Nick, and it doesn’t mean that he’s not possibly going to have horrible flashbacks to being bullied. And Nick once again realizing that he doesn’t care about parties, he just wants to be with Charlie.

- Seriously, Sarah needs to adopt Darcy, replace David.

- Why would Darcy’s mum see Tara in her dress and think “oh no, a door-to-door salesperson?” She clearly doesn’t want to deal with anyone, but maybe even worse, she just wants to quickly get rid of a black girl standing at her doorstep.

- “She had another one of her tantrums last night.” Like this is typical and so it’s not a big deal that she has no idea where her daughter is…

- Group hug to heal my soul.

- “I wanted to be that person for you…” My heart. Tara and Darcy finally talking. “You’ve only seen half of my life.” “And now i’ve seen the other half, and I still love you.” “Are you sure? Because I’m a literal disaster.” “Oh I know.” That is so sweet. And Darcy practicing saying I love you until it feels normal and natural. So joyful.

- By the way, only Heartstopper can get me to listen to Taylor Swift. No offense to all the Swifties (including Patrick Watson), I love your love for Taylor, but I really don’t get it, her music just doesn’t get to me. Admittedly that song was nice for this moment. But that’s about it. But anyway… don’t come at me. I just prefer Baby Queen and Orla Gartland and beabadobee and Carly Rae Jepsen and Gabrielle Aplin and Wolf Alice and Carmody and girl in red much more in this soundtrack. AND THAT WASIA PROJECT SONG‼ Weeping‼

- I love how warm and sweet everyone in the group is to each other. Look at Tao and Nick hugging! Look at how Nick and Tara and Darcy are as much a part of the group as if they had been there for as long as the other four have been tight. Everyone deserves a friend group like that.

- I love that they included that bit from the little comic answering fan questions, where Nick realizes that maybe he’s had a crush on a boy before.

- “Now your turn”. Nick really wants Charlie to be able to open up to him, about anything. Charlie deflects, as always, and says that they don’t need to talk about it because everything’s fine, but the truth is he doesn’t want to talk about it, he doesn’t want to deal with those feelings. But if he never does, he’s just never going to move past that. And Nick wants to help him, even if it’s hard, even if it’s painful, he wants to understand. “You don’t have to be perfect with me.” Charlie just shrinking into himself…

- That whole conversation, it was an impeccable performance from Joe and Kit, and I’m crying again… Nick can’t even fathom that anyone would call this beautiful boy disgusting, and he can’t even fathom the pain that would cause Charlie to hurt himself, he doesn’t even know what to do… but he’s there, he’ll be there, and he wants Charlie to know how much he cares about him. It’s so soft, the hugs, the soft voices, the kiss on the forehead, the tearful kiss, and telling him how much he loves everything about him…

- Serial hoodie thief.

- That deep sigh… that terrified look…

- Spoiler alert: Charlie doesn’t send the text… of course not… he quickly realizes that he wouldn’t just say that for the first time over text… he wants to really mean it.

Fandom stuff - update

The Witcher Season 3: So, this will be the last season of Witcher I watch, for many reasons. However, I have not watched vol 2 yet, though will get too it soon. I loved vol 1!

Gwen & Art Are Not In Love: Okay, I finally read this book - bought it to read on holiday and got through it so quickly. It was AMAZING and I highly recommend. I get why I was seeing so much about it now!

Red, White & Royal Blue: I had NO IDEA what this was, but I watched the movie trailer anyway and it seemed fun. I have now finished the book (read it in one day) and it made me laugh and cry, so I will definitely be watching the movie and talking about it.

Heartstopper: SEASON 2 IS COMING ON AUGUST 3RD BABY!!!!!!!!!! It will be binged immediately. I am not sorry for who I will be when it's out.

AMC IWTV Season 2: That trailer did the impossible - it made me love Armand. I am SOLD. And I cannot wait!

Six of Crows: I finally finished the first book, and will be making my way onto Crooked Kingdom asap. These books are PHENOMONAL and I hope Netflix continue the show.

I was tagged by Heather @summerwave to list 10 TV shows so that you besties could get to know me better! Thank you my dear, hope that this week has been good to you so far 💗🫂

Here goes:

Hannibal (nobody is surprised). I'm obsessed with this series, I know dialogues by heart, probably my ultimate favourite. I don't even know how many times I watched it but it's a LOT. Especially season 3, my favourite (where does the difference between the past and the future come from? ... mine? before you and after y- [gets dragged off stage])

Good Omens. I have just recently watched season 2 and it ripped my heart out in the best way possible!! I loved it, very cathartic, can't wait for s3 to fix this mess though 😭

Fleabag. Another TV series that I've watched very recently but moved me in many ways! Really heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time!!

The Untamed. One of the best character development I've seen! I loved how everyone got to explain their side of things, it was very refreshing and interesting to see. ALSO LAN XICHEN IS MY CHILD (and Wuxian obviously, mental illness bisexual king, also shoutout to the best line ever aka: If I am doomed to death, then I could at least be killed by you, that would be worth it 💯💯💯😧😧😧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ATE. PEAK ROMANCE)

Killing Eve. I hated the ending but I loved the series for most of it! And I especially loved Eve's journey in this, it was so fascinating to watch her change!

Bad Buddy. Such an amazing TV series aka modern (and gay) retelling of Romeo and Juliet!

Word of Honor. I honestly think this series (similarly to The Untamed) has one of the best character development I've ever seen and it makes up for all its (more technical) shortcomings. I love the main characters and how they do not truly fit the hero archetype! Very refreshing. Heartbreaking in many ways, also fascinating female characters. It's all about unconditional love bro and breaking free of the harmful patterns created by a traumatic past- [gets booed, leaves in shame]

Love is Blind. Had to add in something silly as well 🤣 It's a reality show in which people fall in love not seeing each other. I will never understand straight people, this show is hilarious. I watch it for the memes

Sharp Objects. Incredible show with just the best female characters and allusions to mythology. Deals with a lot of dark topics and has an amazing plot twist! I loved its atmosphere.

Heartstopper. Despite having watched it only recently, I absolutely loved its depiction of queerness! Especially the refreshing treatment of bisexuality, which sometimes is lost even in BL dramas I've watched so far. Lovely!
